Great staff, really helpful with telling me where specific items were. Bakery section had a big selection which was great. Will come back for more Baklava!

The Good: + staff at self-checkouts always friendly & helpful. + generally great quality products (especially fresh produce, pizzas, cheese and wine) + clean and strong efforts to keep shelves well stocked. The not so good: - car park is a real pain. Painfully difficult and temperamental ticket machines. Needing to remember ticket to get reimbursed bothersome. - rarely Waitrose card holder offers anymore (glad the coffee has gone - more hassle than it was worth) but did used to have products discounts too. - staff after 8pm race around with the heavy cages when replenishing items with little regard for customers’ safety - move quickly or be hit attitude. - customer service desk hit and miss. This week I was made to feel pretty bad by a ‘Partner’ there for returning a product from the new vegan/vegetarian range because it was frankly inedible (chewy, tasteless weirdness). Was told he wouldn’t refund as ‘we don’t refund fresh items’ and ‘it is not a Waitrose product’. Pointed out Waitrose logo on packaging and had to stand my ground a bit. Finally, begrudgingly refunded the £2.60 from the hundred quid I’d spent there that week ‘as goodwill’. - note to self - don’t try new products or buy ready meals again. May start to get into the habit of using the Nine Elms branch too.

I like shopping at Waitrose, but here the car park is small and sometimes one has to wait to park. Then you have to queue to pay £2.50 at a machine to park for an hour! If you forget to hand the ticket to a cashier after shopping, it is an unnecessary expense. Staff are cordial and helpful and produce is good. The car park really puts me off.

I love waitrose their fruit is lovely and fresh which is why I went had a good range of fresh and canned produce didn't have any water but none of shops really does at min only problem wasn't much staff to ask where stuff was as it's not usual store and was followed by security guard which I found disturbing apart from that was a ok shopping experience will use again As a update as 1st review was in covid times where nothing was in shops Anyway went there today staff nice very helpful had a variety of items found everything I wanted very quickly and fruit is still brill so happy as last time was a bit hit and miss had some lovely bubble bath my fave was camomile so relaxing 🛁 which with the fruit was why I went anyway have a good visit

I was shopping this morning after mass, for the first time with my new My Waitrose card. Along the way I was greeted by a very pleasant Marlyn. I then proceeded to the fish counter and discovered 20% off all fish on Friday Yipee I thought. I then got into a conversation with Judith on the Fish counter who was so kind to share with me her Receipe for cooking mussels……. She went into so many details and I was grateful for that. On the check out Marlyn caught up with me again and gave me my bunch of bananas for free - she placed a sticker on my pack “WAITROSS IT’S ON US” me being me was well chuffed and made the whole world and beyond aware of this kind gesture. Thank you Waitrose I will be back Matilda

Now listen - I'm not an upper-middle class mother, but I would happily venture out of Tooting during a global pandemic just to peruse the aisles of Waitrose. Well stocked, good quality, great booze selection... why anyone would queue up for bloody Sainsburys is beyond me. Spend a tiny bit more and feel your life improve.

Very good location with a reasonably sized car park. Bright, airy and neat. A relaxing environment to do your shopping with goods affordable priced. Very friendly and helpful staff are available with a smile for whom nothing seem to be too much. Almost guaranteed to have a good shopping experience.

Been going to Waitrose as my local shop since I was about 8 years old. Mainly the Belgravia branch and the one in Clifton, Bristol. The Balham branch is much larger and I have been thoroughly impressed by the offerings. The meat offerings are very good - bone marrow and dry aged steaks are both excellent. I also very much enjoy aisle 3 which is an amazing mix of world cuisine and has loads of lovely trinkets like canned duck confit or canned cassoulet. In fact the supermarket has 3 different duck confit options which speaks volumes. The fish counter is solid, but one of the employees is often a bit cold or mean - but that's just me nitpicking. The wine section is above average for sure with lots of Rhône valley offerings in the fine wine section. Good mix of self checkout and non self checkout.

I shopped here for the first time tonight. Absolutely loved the fresh and very good quality products. Great variety of wine. Very warm, friendly and helpful staff. The extremely nice staff at the pastry section tempted me to a slice of cheesecake and boy.....the best I ever had!!!!

Waitrose in Balham always has a very nice relaxed atmosphere, the people that shop there don't barge around the shop like you find in a lot of shops . It's a good store, most of the staff are very helpful. Not so well stocked in the fresh produce centre in afternoons, but it seems to be improving a bit. Was disappointed that they didn't appear to stock any Christmas crackers and it's almost December.

Overall a good selection of items. If you are picking up a parcel from John Lewis it looks like it comes from Oxford Street on a horse and carriage, that slow. I am hopefully the logistics this December have improved a bit.

This is a decent sized store, covering all your basics, fruit vegetables, brand named products. Has a freshish fish counter as well as meat. Also very usually has a matured beef counter. Roast chicken is also sold here. Fresh cakes and artisan bread n for wine lovers a very good range from medium to expensive. Coffee is available to drink but if u have a waitrose card you can get a free takeaway but bring your own mug. Parking is available but not free unless you spend £15. Heart of balham so has some good decent fast food, restaurants and coffee shops. Has all the banks and building societies. Also has a large sainsbury with free parking five minutes from waitrose.

The quality of their produce is excellent and being situated in Balham the standard of service is second to none. I felt like someone important because the staff go out of there way to try and help customers. This is the place to go when you either need quality food or a friendly shopping environment.

It's Waitrose, so cut above Sainsburys. However its popularity makes parking pretty fraught at peak times and the pay and display parking meters confuse and can be terminally slow. Lacks the range and quality of the larger stores.

On the whole you can buy most things here. I managed to buy the last 1 pint of skimmed milk this morning! This is a great shop for finding fairtrade, recycled, eco-friendly items. I own and run a shop down the road and buy all my note pads here for example as it's the only shop in Balham that sells recycled paper note pads! What I would love to see would be a milk vending machine so I could ditch that last bit of plastic in my life. Glass bottles with a return scheme would work as well. Come on Waitrose, you can do it.... (Organic milk if possible!)

This is my local Waitrose . The car park is a decent size (parking is not free) and the staff are helpful. However, whenever I am picking up items that I've ordered from John Lewis - the wait is very long and on at least two occasions they haven't been able to locate my item. I wasn't the only person this happened to in the queue. It's a pain to have to come back at a later date.

Little bit more expensive than the Sainsburys which is 2 mins away and also the Waitrose has a pay and display car park where the sainsburys is free for 2 hours. Everything you'd need. My only gripe is the rude, passive aggressive, fish counter lady with an attitude problem. She can't simply answer a question or converse politely without being snide, sarcastic or patronising. At first, I thought she was having a bad day but sadly she's always like this or everyday is a bad day for her. Every time I see her, I avoid getting anything from the fish counter or ask someone else to help me. She should not be in a customer-facing role unless she learns some basic social skills. Give her a role behind the scenes where her toxic attitude doesn't affect customers and she can be as obnoxious as she likes.

Maybe they had learned the store will close if the Crossrail2 project proceeds.This would very likely involve major tunneling works using the Waitrose Balham site.
