K. J.Simple square undergoing an ambitious makeover. Great community atmosphere when there is a national sports event on and crowds gather to watch it on the outdoor giant screen. Easy to meet up with friends as its just outside Walthamstow Central Station.
T. T.The town square is tidy and a peaceful even though it probably is the most passed through town square in London. The town square is located in the middle of the Walthamstow library, Walthamstow Central bus and train stations, Walthamstow shopping mall, high street shops, Sunday farmers' market, and Europe's longest street market. The town square has a green space and children's playground next to it. It also has a circular stage with a very large permanent outdoor TV screen that shows current televised news. There are a few benches around the town square.
V.Average town square, poorly served by the local council in terms of cleanliness and policing. Used as a venue for various events, festivals - but about to be mostly given over to development of flats and shops - on land that was left to the people of Walthamstow in perpetuity. Very disappointing.
D. B.It's a centre, by bus and train stations but away from traffic. Lots of people pass through. The avenue of lime trees and gravel surface give a Mediterranean feel in summer, dappled shade.
P. T.Got to the mall when it was just about to be re-opened. Still could access some stores since the fire, heard it is just about in full swing. Still remaining a few places to be finished.
