Reviews of New Smithfield Wholesale Market
R. F.
This was a brilliant find. I wanted to make a new desk for homeworking and decided to use recycle wood. A very helpful and friendly team. Great value and service.
I.
Great place and accessible location, indoor and outdoor shops, fresh vegetables and fruit, meat , sea food multicultural kind products and verity of food. It’s huge place but parking problem remain unsolved
L. M.
Got a full Sirlion steak and beef from the meat artic wagon and you can buy nearly everything from here. Also a great carboot
S. A. (.
You can get almost anything there at good prices
A. G. A.
A veritable everyday wholesale market for household items -: from poultry to meat to virtually every thing used in the house. This seven-day wholesale market is possibly incomparable in the North West.
s.
Some great bargains to be had . Will be going back again very soon lot's of household goods Toys clothes Electricals Fruit Veg Meat and Fish .
R. F.
Friendly staff and really good deals/ bargains. Some are only wholesale other can offer you selective items. Just make sure you have some cash on you, because some shops don't do cards. Fish/seafood market is as good.
Be as early as possible 7.30 to 10.30 in the morning is best time to shop, Monday to Friday and no children allowed.
((It's a different market on the weekends and kids are allowed then.))
E. P.
Not a bad market, I always find what I need here. The food is fresh and the prices are nice.
M. L.
Great place. Had some good bargains. High Street goods at half price. Brill.
T. K.
Very good place to buy seafood it's very cheap here
O. F.
Fresh products @ Wholesale Price. But you need to go early in the morning to make a purchase.
A. C.
Great market. But too big to walk round if you want to see everything on offer. But great day out for my 1st visit. Will return.
M. R.
Absolutely love it here so why four and not five stars?
I've always come at Xmas and things are in full swing when I arrive around 3.30am. however this week I've been twice... Monday coming at 5am, and this morning arriving at 2.30am... Both occasions felt disappointed at the amount of stalls open... Is this due to the covid 19? I'm not sure. But I do know the covid19 had shot the prices of import produce. It's Indians and Pakistani mango season right now and they're selling for £10 small box and up to £20 for the large box😭... But I need my yearly fix and paid up.
M. C.
Great value for money butcher's wagon . Would recommend there products . The rest of the stalls is cheap tat
D. 5.
Visited the market after a long time. Not as many stalls as before, but worth visiting for bargain buys.
There should be a cash point in the vicinity as we had to walk quite far to find a machine.
H.
Alot of fresh vegetables fish meet and very friendly sales personnel, good location with parking space.
A. K.
Went here at 6 am …
Lots of fish ,vegetables, fruits are available from across the globe .
If you buy in bulk it’s very cheap . Eg : 11 sea breams in an iced box for £10 , 2 kg box of large prawns £18-20, large box of read spinach from India ,£ 11 , big box of finest quality Pakistani mangos £11.50 ( it costs£ 25- £30 on retail shops ).
Great place if you’re a fish lover…
F. D.
Not a lot of variety. You can get a few good deals on meat, vegetables and maybe some 2nd hand things, but not a lot are worth it. Most stuff you can probably get yourself on eBay or AliExpress cheaper. Might also be worth it if you're looking for cheap toys. Pretty dirty but can't expect much from a wholesale market. Watch your belongings for pickpockets, seems like a perfect place for them.
C. Q.
Gave it 3* as you CAN get the odd bargain, however, 9/10 weeks it's the same old same old.
O. A. O.
This is a great place to shop all things veg, fruits, meat and fish at cheaper price than side shops. Unfortunately you can't go here if you have a child or children as the security won't let you in through the barrier. Apparently the council believe this is an industrial place and children are not allowed. So if you live alone with your child you cant come here sorry. This is ridiculous but it's their rule...
A. G.
Their are some amazing deals to be had, some stalls also take card, fresh meat man, Auctions on occasions.
From every week suppliers of verious stalls from heavy duty work wears to valour sofas or a new par of ladies sandles, fancy a burger or spam and egg butty to pulled pork.
Explore the out skerts of the market you will find floor stalls that have a wide range of things.
Make sure you have at least an hour spare.
Don't forget to budget😊
H. E.
Good market with fresh fruits and vegetables with fish 🐟 nice location
A. K.
During pandemic its only 50% capacity. But always good for a bargin
L. H.
Definitely a lot smaller than I remember it being pre Covid, we still got everything we wanted.
O. O.
Best wholesale deals on food items but make sure you have a chest freezer for storing.
P. F.
Best sunday Market
The meat man has some great bargains
M. Z.
Lots of stall to visit if it's sunny this place is packed with people
j. k.
Great market places for cheaper fruits & vegetables.
B. S.
Found a fantastic carpet warehouse here among the fruit and veg. Super cheap and great carpets and flooring. Only open on Sat and Sun to the public. Great fitting team helpful and quick.
P.
All you need there
Prices have gone very high due to Brexit but I guess it's still cheaper than going to other places
c. c.
Very Very good, with many shopping opportunities.
W. P.
Excellent market and good value for money as well
G. K.
Excellent Sunday market full of surprises cheap cheap prices
D. M. X.
Good price.. fresh fish
M.
Great place to visit. Worth it just for all the sights and smells, unusual fruit and veg, fresh fish.
R. S.
It's perfect for seafood, and the prices are reasonable, but the fruits and vegetable area could do with organisation and cleaning. I saw someone driving a forklift so fast I was terrified.
T. O.
Meat is good here. Yes. Very good
S. B.
Great for bulk meat and chicken shopping
L. R.
I got loads of meat and had a good time um a little dirty but nice 💫💫
j. g.
Was shocked how few stalls compared with every other time we've been.
T. R.
Great place to get loaded.
Friendly helpful staff. Quick turn around.
g. a.
Got what I came for, nice variety of fish you can choose from.
J. A. A.
Place is just okay for me as a retail customer. Vendors do not care about retail customers like us and the price they quote for veg and fruits are much higher than the retail prices at a nearby store. If you're coming here for the first time, beware of the quality of produce you buy. Also have an idea about the prices in local stores. Else will surely be disappointed.
K. A.
Nice variety and prices compared to supermarkets.
Pity I could not find gray mullet for fesikh this night.
Fish quality is great especially seabass, sea bream and sardines.
K. G.
Brilliant Sunday market both new and second hand. Great stall holders. Excellent food. Can be busy and crowded but not claustrophobic. Cafe in the middle serves great food and really good coffee. A great way to enjoy a Sunday mornings shopping.
f. b.
My favourite market place!😘
l. p.
One of the best Sunday markets around the meat man is so cheap and the cuts of meat are enormus you honestly cant get any better
R. R.
Great market with pmenty to offer
B. W.
We come here for replacement tools whenever my husband needs them. The market itself is smelly and dirty, heaven forbid I ever need the toilet there. A lot of what is sold is either fake or just rubbish, but there are some good stalls. The pet food guy (whose name and shop I forget) always has great stuff at good prices and obviously the tool man. Other than that I wouldn't go
c. f.
Excellent experience, brilliant market lovely atmosphere
S. C.
Good for local farm produce
P. A.
Nice place to shoo in whole sale.
J. K.
Good place to buy fresh fish and seafood
Also have a wholesale fresh fruit and vegetables shops, can buy with friends and family and share.. us a good bargin than buying in the shops
A. A. M. (. M.
I love this market. While theres probably alot to be said about how cheap everything is as many things are as expensive as shop bought items (defeating the idea of a market in the first place) however you can occasionally find a seller who gives really good deals on things. I would say this is probably the second best market in Manchester (after bowlers) although this is alot bigger. I managed to get a sofa with a £200 discount from here without any issues.
I. D.
Sunday Market with on site parking for £3. Or free parking on surrounding streets. There is no entry charge.
Don't park on double yellow lines, the traffic wardens love booking this place.
Good variety of products, shops and stalls setup within the market area. There are toilets available and there is also areas with a roof covering should it rain.
Best to come early to get deals and bargains, they start shutting up and winding down around 2pm-3pm.
R. F.
I could be wrong but this market has to be the biggest in the Nth West and the most popular.
This market has everything you need from a weekly shop to all those odds and ends.
It has ample parking, toilets and helpful staff. With various types of food available this is the place to be for a Sunday outing.
S. B.
There’s a lovely stall there with Avon cosmetics on the outside near the pet stall at much lower prices than the book price and the stall sells other gift ideas too. The lady there is so friendly and always very courteous. Me and my husband have been going there for year and save ££££s.?Would defo recommend this stall.
J. B.
Literally any produce you wish to purchase will be at this market from melons to fish.
P. S.
A variety of goods sold from clothing to Household goods at a cheap price. A good choice of meat and poultry auction on site. A nice place to spend on Sunday morning walking around for bargains. It is sad that parking entrance is £3.00 per vehicle. No specific parking plots for the disabled but disabled can be pushed around workout any steps whatsoever. It's all the same level.
S. J.
Lots of things you buy for cheap price.. Bargain.. I like.. I would come back
I. C.
Market 😉Last one for 4 weeks so obviously v/busy 🤗 Now back to some normality🤞 More stalls and outer car bootish 😉
O. A.
It was a good experience in this nice market serving Gorton, Openshaw, Audenshaw and some other areas in Manchester. Place to get cheaper fish, beef, pepper, vegetables 🍀 and other stuff.
E. P.
Top for fish wholesale but Chinese merchants are taking over slowly. Not racist here but we have to be VIGILANT for Fake products especially plastic based Tuna Fish Fruit Eggs plastic noodles etc etc. These are very popular in Asia coming from China
S. T.
Not as good as it used to be. Very chaotic there this morning and some of the regular stalls were missing. There is a great meat wagon where you can get some amazing bargains. Also a lot of stalls where prices have been hiked up and item is a lot cheaper in the shops. Needs more policing as alot of stall holders were smoking marijuana and when there are kids around that's out of order. Used to be a great place to visit on a Sunday morning but probably wont go back
A. L.
Market has got a few good stuff if you need your cleaning products to garden equipment they have got it all here in one place I'd recommend coming here early in the morning to get the best deals Sunday
k. k.
Haven't been here for a few years and it hasn't really changed whilst I've not been, still the same sort of stuff being sold!!
S. H.
Parking is expensive to park in the inside market. Free parking is available on side streets but is limited, so go early (before 8) to find a spot.
Quite a large market with plenty of variety you can normally find anything you need. They have toilet facilities but these can be a little dirty.
Good car boot too. Well worth a visit.
K. S.
Gets very busy and some of the stalls are the same but in general a good place to find all your looking for. Food clothes toys electronics etc.... not overpriced and you can haggle a bit depending on the stall holder. Don’t often come away empty handed
C. M.
This market has something for everyone. One of the biggest markets I have been on a Sunday with some car boot stalls. Worth a look round but would say get there early and parking costs £3.50. Don't park outside traffic wardens everywhere putting tickets on cars.
H. K.
We are a company that sells all kinds of fresh fruits. If you want to work, you can write to our e-mail address. ([email protected]) - Instagram : akcan_hk_kirmit
B. C.
Massive car boot and traders market on Sunday mornings. Lots of bargains to be found. Fresh fish stall, filleted while you watch. Lots of new and used items from fresh meat truck to house clearance stuff. Keep your wallets secure as pickpockets might be around. It does get busy.
P.
Great for picking up your bargain fruit and veg!
Large selection of all types, but in ones and twos as well as bulk, used by the shopkeepers all around the area, so can get very busy, and a bit untidy, with dropped fruit and veg.
Large parking area.
k. b.
Excellent place to go. Wide variety of stalls and they sell everything including fresh produce. Can get busy and there is parking here. Check what days what markets are on great if you love markets
D. G.
Excellent car boot on a Sunday and extremely popular. You need to get there early to get a chance to snap up the best bargains. Parking is FREE outside BUT don't park on the yellow lines as the traffic wardens are like vultures round there. You can park on the grounds and thats £3 (30-9-2017) at the moment.
N. B.
Sunday market, is a great buy on fruit and veg.
Clothing is ok stick to branded stuff though.
Cheap electricals can be a minefield, unless they can show it working.
Usually busiest in summer and near Xmas. Great for all the family.
Parking is plentiful but costs about £2 for the day, we avoid that by parking on double yellows with a blue badge!!, Watch out for parking attendants.
J. K. J.
Good market. But always compare outside the market. Some times items may be higher than local shop
O. H.
Nice..well attended too especially unit c23 and c24 they're one of the best;Al aqas
B. P.
Good for meat and fish and there's a nice fresh bread stall I get a Manchester Tart off them. The market is huge with too many stalls to describe and if you have the energy there is also a car boot area to explorer.
H. M.
Great market and car boot. Food, clothing, household, electrical goods and furniture loads of stuff old and new. Cafe and toilets available...But depends on the wether... much better in the summer months. Well worth a visit on a Sunday morning.👍
L. A.
Don't go with your little ones they won't let you in, children are not allowed they say. If it's winter always wear an extra jumper because it's always freezing there. But you will love shopping there in bulk/box as suppose you will know that it's a wholesale market.
B. A.
The fruit and vegetables. stall is. absolutely amazing so fresh and the prices are so reasonable
c. t.
An amazing visit to Fareshare Manchester. Amazing, kind people, all mindful of each others and so much good work being done to provide for others. Thank you.
M. T.
A good market, but looking old. It's a veg market, so why there are sellers of flooring I have no idea. Investment needed and a drive to re-infuse a soul into this UK industry sector.
P. F.
Very busy well organised
D. N.
Great place to walk around, grab food from one of it;s many food vans. Buy fresh food such as meats, fruit and fish. Browse the car boots or the many stalls they have. The place sells all sorts from home-ware and furniture, toys, trade equipment etc..
E. C.
Smithfield Market is an amazing experience filled with many interesting finds and unique ideas. There are many different types of stalls for all your needs from food to homeware and from clothing to footwear. It is a pleasant walk around, and a hassle free environment enjoyed by all.
k. m.
I always love going to smithfield some really good bargains and you can haggle with them over the price. Always seem to leave with about £50 worth of fresh meat for around £20. There are more stalls when it isn't raining because they have the outside car boot bit.
M. B.
Easy to find. Great lads and a very quick tip at Sykes seafoods
A. E.
Iove the fish market, very neat and friendly staff(JB Wilde). However the veg market and car park at rear end needs tidying up. The forklift drivers need to be cautioned.
E. V.
This refers to the Sunday market NOT the Monday to Saturday wholesale market. There are many traders here varying from those selling dubious tat in the flea market section through established traders in meat, fish, vegetables, groceries, cleaning materials etc. (generally pretty good value for money) to others selling furniture, beds, plumbing supplies, tools and a very few get rich con artists trying it on. Buy with caution! Plenty of bargains!
J. S.
Top Gezza nice one SID proper gezza from Jeff AKA (SID) SAMEDAY TRANSPORT Really helpful nothing was too much trouble for him pity there aren't more people like that
A. K.
On a Sunday it turns into a Manchester Council run market. Fresh fruit and fish and everything else you can think of at exceptionaly reduced prices. Worth a day out with the family. Parking on site is rather expensive and the alternative street parking is like pot luck.
G. W.
Smithfield is pretty good. There's the regular stalls but always some new ones. Plus you can buy a metric tonne of meat from the meat wagon. Steak tonight baby!
M. B.
Very varied sort of shopping or just looking at the plethora of things on offer, new and used, pity it was raining as there was not as many stalls outside, plenty undercover though, parking is a bit of an issue, if you want to pay £2 you can park on site or very near by, a very good experience
A. A.
Always go there, you can pick up good bargains. Lots of food stops, loved the fresh mini doughnuts stall.
P. E.
If you can get up at the crack of dawn, and have space for boxes of stuff, you can choose your own quality of food at wholesale prices. Great for a party or function.
S. H.
Great place to shop on a Sunday opens from 7-2. People come from all over Manchester to shop here lots of stalls & bargains. Cheaper meat van always there. Car parking space inside at a charge.
d. w.
Nice and flat for wheelchair access if you drivein the market and park up £3.00 , plenty of bargains to be had ,sundays till 13.00 ish
p. m.
It's a nice place but most of the time when I go there it just to buy meat.
G. A.
It's not a very cheap and cheap product comprises quality. Huge range of used and refurbished items. Did the have a chance to go fish market. Enjoyed olives and had tasty tikka kebab from kebab King.
A. I. A.
Big market for wholesale and retail of New, old and used households and general goods including groceries too
S. C.
First ever visit.
Nipped in and out!!!! It was later in the morning so wholesalers were mostly clearing up. Mess everywhere!!!
Got what we wanted fairly quickly - apples
Dont allow children so cant give them the experience.
a. O.
Nice place to buy your vegetables, fruits, meat, chicken, fish etc. Buying good food for cheap money 💰
g. g.

K. M.
Not bad
R. W.

l. m.
Sundays markets in Manchester, its big many vendors you can buy anything, new and second hand. Clothing, shoes, food, electrics, toys, choice is endless.
The main problem is parking, and many people go.but thats the price you pay for sunday shopping.
Good deals if you look and you want to haggle then you will be fine....
H. S.
Love, love, love this market! We love in Norfolk but every time we up to visit family, a visit to the Sunday market is a must. Favourite stall - the meat man!
L. G. 1.
Great market great bargains
A. T.
My husband loves to go every sunday. He finds everything for our cars and parts and does maintenance himself. He finds lots if other things for the house.
I. P.
Top sunday market, very large and loads of shops and stalls. Very good bargains to be had. It can actually be a bit of a fun morning out, get a decent walk in aswell.
b. a.
Good wholesale fruit n veg markets. You can also find very cheap frozen seafood at the Chinese shops.
A. v.
Professional and helpful staff , many different types of fruits and vegetables. All that you can think of. Fresh and at the good price.
s. r.
Mixed bag of new and old products on market. Two large indoors areas. Parking ok between £1 and £3. A bit rough and ready
T. W.
When the car boot sale is on, there are loads of stalls and varied goods on sale, lots of parking space with a charge at the entrance. Hot food and drinks are also available.
T. K.
Be careful. Forklift trucks are running around at high speeds. Not your usual town market stalls here. Just industrial mini warehouses
T. D.
Good place for saving money. You can buy all cheaper than in city center. One example, in B&Q a bassin tap was £64 , the same in Gorton whole sale market is £20.
V. d.
Great choice and great bargains. Will definitely recommend if trying to save on fresh fruit and veg. Plenty of parking space and most vendors accept cards as well as cash.
Y. B.
love going there for Sunday car boot.. there's many stalls with new things and if you willing to hunt around you could pick up some good bargains for everyday items.
O. D.
Great place for shopping

Nice place to shop for new and used items. Market open on Sundays as early as 5am and close by 2pm. There are also weekly sales for food consumables and fish.
S. F.
Very competitive prices. Visit especially on sunday
T.
Very price friendly. Look out for expired goods. Usuallu open on Sunday mornings to the general public. Other days its a wholesale market. Good butchers throughout the week.

E. p. a. o.
Very exciting place to buy all sort n good prices too
s. m.
This used to be one of the best markets and carboots in the North West . The indoor market is still quite good however the carboot just looks like a scrap yard .
B. R.
Lot of stalls not on anymore very sad definitely needs the public to support the market more
S. P.
I like the samosas for breakfast.
M. B.

S. P.
My husband and I love this place. Easily the best food stall in Smithfield Market. The lamb is delicious!
m. u.
Good prices but Fish is only available on Tuesday and Thursday
S. N.
Good place to buy cheap but sometime you regret to buy some items when you use them at home and those are not working or working for few days. So think twice to buy
E. B.
Smithfield market is easily accessible with 24hour security cover. It would be appreciated if a cash machine could be located on site in this beautiful well located market for the community. Appreciation also goes to the Management of this market.
Pls is it possible to have a public convinience within the market pls.
Thank you for taking note of the suggestions.
Yours
Esther Bada Mrs
A. G.
