Reviews of The Border Reiver
Very nice local village shop with all the amenities, with small cafe and toilet. Perfect stopped point on the way to Carter Bar Scottish border.
Friendly staff, on site baked goods (pasties being stocked hot from the oven when I was being served), good coffee.
Nice small store with more than just food. Although the only one in a wide area it's not terribly expensive.
My husband and I called in a few weeks ago for some lunch. The cafe is small but really worth a visit. The staff are all really lovely. The menu was great with a variety of options and at fantastic prices. We both had the haloumi burger with sweet potato fries and onion rings, it was absolutely amazing!. The drinks menu is great - I had a Pina Colada or two with my lunch while my husband had a beautiful hot chocolate. We will definitely be calling in again!
Fabulous place. Staff are really friendly and it's great to have a well stocked village store.
Only came in because we were staying at a caravan site up the road and had forgotten some prepared meals we had made. Good selection of food - we had a homemade quiche that was very good - and they offered to make us pizza. We would have taken them up on the offer if we had not had our dogs with us. For a village store, punching well above their weight.
Had the bestest bacon and egg sandwich and coffee.
It's well catered for those who've forgotten to bring something with them if you're staying in the village for either of the wedding venues. Surprisingly large food and drink selection, and most of the household essentials covered too. The cafe is a great addition and the hot breakfast sandwiches available from the counter are really good. Service is friendly too
Stopped here when travelling south thinking i was having crisps for a late sunday lunch. Turns out they have hot food!! Delicious bbq pizza nice thin crispy base. Staff were very friendly aswell. Thank you
Cracking breakfast! Great tea! Very important is a good brew! Lovely, friendly staff. Highly recommend
Great little shop with great little cafe inside. Can be a little pricey, but that is usually expected in the kind of area the shop is situated. Sells everything you would need so all in all, a great little local supermarket/convenience store.
Going downhill. Used to serve a lovely bacon roll and cup of tea. Bacon looked as if it had been boiled!!! Not browned in any way
Stock levels getting less.
Friendly local village store...
Not to be mistaken for a supermarket, so won't always have everything in store...
It always has something in stock so in an "emergency" if it's not exactly what you want, there's always an alternative so you never need to go away empty handed!
The border Reiver Village store is local, convenient and a cafe too! And they make a lovely sausage and egg sandwich!
Fantastic little shop , not to expensive. Maybe sandwiches on sale would be good as nowhere near for supplies, we bought pot noodles.
Breakfast here is amazing, and such good value.
Staff really pleasant and helpful
Highly recommend this place, it's a hidden gem
A good little shop with hot food stand
Food was pretty nice, slightly expensive for what I got.
Dropped in for an early breakfast. Seats just over a dozen at a push, tables are recycled, rebuilt pallets (scrubbed) and the whole place has a friendly rural feel about it. Breakfast was cooked to order and was good. I consider the prices cheap.
There is parking for about 6 cars outside and the welcome was warm. There is a much larger place within 400 yards but not nearly so good. Thanks, see you next time we pass.
A
Great place. Surprised at the selection. Only went in for ice cream but they have all your groceries and more. Came out with coffee, a delicious hot pie and an ice pop. Happy days
We ordered 25 pizzas from The Border Reiver for a pre wedding feast at Woodhill Hall, from the initial enquiry to the Delivery they were excellent, all of the pizzas arrived hot and on time, everyone there commented on how good they were so I would say they were a hit! Thanks again!
Needs a more varied selection of sandwiches, can't buy a ploughman's but can get a dolce gusto machine instead 🤣🤣 …
Nice little café, no toilets and the public ones just nearby are rank! If you wanna stop for refreshments, including a loo stop, keep driving a bit further.
Bit random to review a shop but the staff were lovely, nice area to visit, stayed in cabins not far away. Friendly people
We always stop for a coffee and a snack, and browse around the shop.
The shop is a life line for the village and the staff are fantastic also the food is also great and you can just about anything you need great choice of wines, soft drinks, food, other house hold items petsupplys and open 7 days a week 👍 …
What a little gem of a cafe. Small but tables made from recycled timber. Had the leek and stilton homemade soup, it was delicious. Their hot chocolate is amazing. Passing the next day had a cheese and tomato sandwich freshly made with a little side salad and crksps. Absolute heaven. Living quite near this could well become a habit at lunchtime.
Fantastic customer service! All of the staff are lovely, especially the older chap helping out. He is known as "Grandpa", and he was an absolute gent. I only wish I will be firing on as many cylinders when I'm 84 years old! Thanks again 😊 …
Great range of basics and local specialities. Friendly staff who are willing to help. Cafe serves freshly cooked tasty food and lush coffee.
Good stopping point en route to Scotland. Visited the cafe for breakfast, nicely cooked and presented. Very friendly and helpful staff. (They also have a toilet for customer use.)
Stopped for a bit lunch decent selection of food considering it looked as though it was a general store assistant well, pleasant enough place

Great value and good food. Staff really friendly and gave us some taster samples of their upcoming offerings. Delicious.
Brilliant shop with just about everything you could need.
Great local shop, really good selection of food and essential items. A mini supermarket!
Great little cafe, not very big and not very much parking. The food and staff totally make up for this. Will probably stop by next time I'm on the way to Scotland
This place holds many memories, stopping off on a trip between Newcastle and Edinburgh for snacks - it's not changed much over the years a cracking pit stop for food & a shop
Good range of stock for a remote shop, beats most convenience stores.
Staff pleasant and helpful.
Awesome lil shop 😉 …
Little village store. Superb sausage and bacon teacake and delicious coffee just when we were becoming desperate.
Best bacon roll ever. Wee shop & cafe. Very clean outside toilet. Very polite staff & locals
Great local shop , has everything you ever need . Friendly helpful staff too
Had 2 lovely hot sausage & bacon rolls. Lovely staff
Local shop has everything, staff are very nice, food is lovely and very well priced. Outside loo is cold and damp but clean and has all you need.
The to lads working in there are as thick as 2 short planks it was like being served by to Neanderthals with autism. Bacon and black pudding was sound though.
Popped in to the Cafe on the side of the shop.
Great bacon sandwich with generous amount of bacon cooked nicely served in a big fresh bun.
Everything you need. Often drive the 8 miles here to get top ups on my weekly shop. Great little cafe too.
Great little shop for emergency’s but the least you could do is update the shop closing times not JUST because of COVID19.. ESPECIALLY because of COVID19
They had everything I needed and had very polite helpful customer service 5* service well done I will definitely return when passing in the near future
Always nice polite staff and very helpful if you require any help
Obviously no supermarket but quite a good selection for a small village shop and staff are very friendly.
Took them ages to realise this was real. One male said we don't get it in Northumberland standing behind the counter. I avoid if possible
Great little local store. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly
Very good choice of gifts and lovely staff.
Good selection of food well stocked and parking also
Very useful well-stocked convenience store in an area without many other facilities. Recommended.
Nice local shop, good selection of local meats and vegetables as well as popular commercial stuff.
Amazing coffee shop for country road drive and nice staff
Highly recommend takeaway pizza nights (Tuesday/Friday) - absolutely outstanding, well done Border Revier team
Handy shop. Good opening hours. You can purchase most things here. The café food is also good.
Lovely little cafe in the village shop, great food and nice for a coffee stop.
Even though cafe had closed, the very friendly staff still provided a hot coffee and a nice sticky bun.

Convenience shop as well as a cafe! You never see that was very handy for a cooked breakfast in the morning!
Came across this cafe by chance. Small but good food and pleasant staff.
