Reviews of Sainsbury's
M. B.
Oh dear. Where is all the stock ? Been coming here for years due to fair prices, good quality and friendly helpful staff. In the last few months the stock levels have got steadily lower on lots of items. This week at 9.00am on a Friday lots of products are either very low levels or none at all. It seems to be the own branded products in particular which mean missing out on what you want or paying much more for the branded alternative. Not a great choice when trying to beat the cost of living crisis of late.
I. W.
A regular visitor using a circular walk that takes in some or all of the nature reserve. Lots to see and look out for - lots of signage - good walk ways. Bird hide - this year the waterways have dried up for the first time in the twenty years I have been visiting. The main Reens are supporting the Swans. Good car parking.
K. P.
Standard Sainsbury’s. Good location off the dual carriageway for those that don’t live in Newport. Also has a petrol station.
The times I’ve been, they’ve been super busy and it doesn’t feel like they have enough automated tills or enough people on the tills. That being said, the staff work hard to alleviate the queues.
R. A.
Masses of parking and a decent sized store that is almost always well stocked.
From my limited staff interactions I would say they are friendly and polite.
The cafe does a nice toastie too.
C. R.
If you havent experienced Sainsbury's before now... where have you been! ... suffice tosay ~ A pleasant and caring well stocked super store. Really great products here. Pharmacy, cafeteria, restrooms, newsagent, clothing and a very large food hall. Got to be Top Marks.
j. a.
When going to get a cheesecake mix you would think it was on a shelf that had all other cake mixes on,red velvet, carrot etc. Well a bit of advice about turn 180 degrees slightly 1 o'clock bottom shelf with the angel delight etc,go figure🤔
G. M.
This was a mini store, with a limit selection of items. Ideal for the forgotten things. Not so sure about the automated tills. They sound a little abrupt, though I didn't use them, others in the shop did and it became an open conversation, and a laugh.
K. H.
Great supermarket - which is very large - with a wide range of items being sold... Huge selection of magazines...Large cafe...clean toilets...disability access...Argos instore...Love it...
D. R.
Standard big box Sainsbury's. Lots of range, lots of choice. Always had good quality products, availability always pretty strong. Only gripe is prices are a bit steep sometimes on some products for example you can pay slightly more than you would in Morrisons for a product that isn't inherently any better.
K. M.
Unbelievable low standard I would not have associated with Sainsbury's, today I picked up an item from Argos in Sainsbury's, did some shopping and inadvertently left my Argos item in the store.......my fault and not my issue......my issue is when I got home and realised, I rang the store 4 times got put through to the usual options list...each time it connected me to the store it rang for 2mins and then hung up........10 minutes later I rang the garage who did answer, they took my number and said someone will ring me........ still waiting 😡 rubbish what's the point of phone numbers companies just don't answer them anymore.... update to above I got through eventually by using option 3 for staff only.....and then it was usual good service and standard, as the lady I spoke to went and checked for my item which was retrieved and put in a safe place for me to collect.
T. P.
More staff on tills I went on sat morning and there was one till open . Staff were offering to help you with scan and shop but I want to be served by a human being . With the higher prices you pay would expect much better customer service
L. W.
Alot of empty shelves and the registers were all quids, there were more staff at the self check lol 5 to be honest and 3 on the tills and there where no middle size trolleys, I know, then someone said sainsbury's ad a 6.5 billion profits last year in the UK, its a shame 🙄
D. M.
Sainsburys is a nicely set up store, we like to shop here, some items are pricey compared to other stores, but in general deserves the 4 stars
J. S.
Great men's clothes section which other stores don't have. Really nice big home and leisure section too. Nice to go in and browse without doing a food shop. Nice big Cafe. One of the better stores in the area.
A. W.
Very clean and tidy, loads of room in the aisles. Prices are much higher than Asda and Aldi.
P. D.
Always worth a visit when around Newport, wife loves access to Habitat.
A. K.
I like the super market nice staff there.
A. C.
Has a better range of clothes than our local Sainsbury. It is a bigger store so should have. Easy to access.
E. T.
I was in a tricky spot a few sundays ago (the 13th I believe) looking for a good wine, and a young store assistant by the name of Ian not only helped me find exactly what I was looking for, but was so friendly that he brightened my day. I've found the store somewhat unwelcoming in the past so he was truly a breath of fresh air. I look forward to seeing him when I shop :)
A. J.
Used the smart shop system today, was really impressed. Lovely big store with plenty of choice and was really clean too.
T. C.
Massive place with all you could need from food to clothes and home items even has an argos inside too staff friendly and helpful
M. M.
Nice clean shop, good variety of produce, its a super market, its got a cafe, and an Argos and a petrol ⛽ not much more i can say
P. G.
Great supermarket, has everything you need. I find the Lloyd's pharmacy here extremely helpful unlike cwmbran ones.
C. H.
Friendly and helpful staff. Everything well laid out and easy to find.
Tu Clothing section saved the day when my wife and I needed to grab some outfits for last minute invite to a posh do at Epsom Downs.
R. J.
It's a supermarket. It's sainsburys. You either like them or not. They have a large food selection as well as household goods too, and an Argos in store. The location is a little bit awkward to get to unless you have a car.
r.
It's huuuge! Very clean and quiet. I love going shopping there
C. J.
Well priced, great quality of food, barely any wastage when cooking aswell
P. B.
Big supermarket, lots of nice stuff and never too busy, if you're on the Rob watch out for the security at the door
S. H.
Good stock of items, very helpful staff
P. D.
Splendid store, nice staff, nice cafe. Good selection of produce.
G. C.
Nice enough, not great if you want a checkout as they don't seem to staff them. You pay more for food so maybe spend the extra money on staffing.
L. N.
My local store, always helpful and happy
J. W.
Excellent staff. Especially lady on the express checkout. Thanks for making a difficult moment into a positive one!
W. M.
Large store, well stocked and laid out well.
The staff are friendly and the store is always clean
P. M.
Went to get a few groceries and petrol good selection of vegan food staff friendly
s. j.
Had what I was looking for but more expensive. Went to One Below got the same product for 1pound
C. B.
I'm a regular at this store as it has everything even an Argos! Store itself is immaculate and staff very welcoming and helpful
A.
One of the better sainsburys stores but their prices on brands should be more competitive with other shops.
S. J.
This store always has long queues at the checkout. With only two open it's not surprising.
s. w.
Good product selection at reasonable prices, although "Great deals" at the front of the store should be rebranded as "mediocre, run of the mill deals"
p. a.
Great store everything you need. Very helpful staff
d. C.
Sainsbury's are a well stocked business most staff helpful. Good quality Sainsbury's branded products but as all supermarkets they want more people to shop on a machine as most tills shut they lost the personal touch
D. B.
Really helpful friendly staff, well stocked shelves
y.
Very well stocked supermarket and lovely helpful staff. It's a big store so is able to offer plenty of choices for different categories.
s. j.
Good quality food but a bit on the expensive side
30/5/22 Retains it's quality esp fresh fruit+veg and now seems more competitively priced compared to cheaper no frills rivals
17/8/22 Sells an enormous range of products but still on the pricey side eg X5 bananas in a bunch £1.27 whereas X10 in main store £1.47 ( sold by weight in superstore not individually as in smaller store)
P. W.
A big branch of the orange supermarket. Lots of stuff, got an Argos if you're an Argonaut. Also lots of space in the car park and a decent cafe.
It's not Disneyland, but it eases the pain of shopping.
J. J.
You know what you're going to get I guess but these days not cheap.
C. V.
Helpful staff and plenty of products to choose from. Only things they could improve is the offers, and perhaps take more care in the products on the shelf. Just found muffins out of date on the shelf.
A. C.
It was a great day out fun for kids and parents nice family day out
R. S.
Sweet potato and red onion bhajis along with Chana masala from the Indian takeaway section is absolutely amazing. I must say this is probably the best Indian takeaway dishes that I’ve had from Sainsbury’s. Describe this combination.
L. M.
Great had everything I needed. Pay for quality. Pizza deal better quality than Morrisons.
A. L.
Good sized store with plenty of stock. Good petrol station, restaurant and money exchange.plenty of parking. Timpsons on site too
c. h.
Easy to get around , some products limited bust most I wanted were there.
C. M.
I used the stores mobility scooter to do my shopping, I was greeted by a member of staff who arranged the mobility scooter, she was very helpful.
I found really good quality produce.
Nice wide aisles, great variety of produce and friendly and helpful staff.
The checkout assistant was also helpful and friendly.
Thank you
K. F.
Huge Sainsburys with a fantastic vegan selection and a large TU clothing and Habitat section.
C. P.
Always helpful and friendly. Love shopping in Sainsburys Cwmbran
C. W.
Great variety of products but many are close to their sell by dates. Good fuel price and the bonus of nectar points. If they got the food on the shelves instead of standing around near the tills I would have given 5 stars
H. W.
Excellent shop, got everything that you need
M. C.
Huge shop with good quality products!
A. C.
Stocks everything , largest selection of Sainsburys in Wales as its a Flagship Store.
A. J.
Great place to shop. Top quality food and a nice cafe to grab a coffee / light bite. Very easy recommend
J. B.
They don't sell passion fruits, get some passion fruits and you can have 4 stars.... Get some Hungry Joes ready meals in and a wider variety of international products and you can have 5 stars.. Other than that the parking isn't too bad, toilets are relatively clean. Enjoy your visit
J. B.
I feel like the child bay parking should be for people who are struggling with toddlers or baby seats. When the child is tall enough to drive an average car themselves they should use a normal spot!
t. S.
Love this store. I don't need an excuse to pop in. Just think the staff are amazing.
S. A.
Good choice of food and clothes. No cafe, at first glance seems expensive, but if you look closely there are some prices cheaper than other Supermarkets. This Supermarket used to be good for recycling, but you can't recycle much now. It has a petrol station.
C. G.
Decent shope very large staff don't seem very motivated but overall not bad
V. A.
Staff are so helpful. The woman on the checkout could see I was struggling to open the bags due to swollen joints. She kindly took over packing for me. Top quality beef always too.
D. T.
Love shopping here never to crowded
C. W.
Clean tidy well equipped and presented
D. W.
Found it quite expensive, lots of restocking trolleys in about and staff in way having conversations.
A. P.
Nice food at a very reasonable cost
S. “. P.
Good sized car park and there's toilets inside including a disabled one. The store has a great menu in the restaurant that is very tasty and reasonably priced. Usual store layout on one level, easy access for disabled people who have wheelchairs. Helpful staff and friendly service, but lost 1 star because of pricier groceries.
a. j.
Good shopping experience. Very clean and well set out store with a good range of goods and reasonable prices. The lady on the till was lovely and very helpful.
Returned today to collect an item from Argos. This also has wonderful friendly service at a reasonable price. Now to fit it and get ready for som sailing adventures next spring!
A. B.
Good parking and disabled access. One of the bigger shops with more range than our local Sainsbury's. Place was clean and good social distancing, not to busy, plenty of staff.
G. M.
Cannot fault, the helpful and friendly staff. I am exempt from wearing a mask. I have tried, but I have to take my inhaler a lot more. Offered me a lanyard. I felt comfortable. As always, felt happy with my experience
P. O.
Good shop, has a clothing sectioion as well as a, cafe, Argos and fuel. Can get everything you need here from general groceries, fuel to homeware from the Argos. Would recommend for your one stop shop for pretty much everything
S. S.
I like Sainsburys good food clean place and friendly staff. A young lad called Lewis has helped me out a few times. Some times the staff can make or break a store. They are very helpful.
a. p.
I continue to shop here as I buy certain products of their own. I also like to browse the clothing area on my visits. Although Sainsburys are "price matching Aldi" I still find many products are cheaper in Aldi & I do not visit as often as I used to
A. C.
Great customer service today
a. j.
This store has it all, groceries, pharmacy, clothing, toys, home where, and of course argos
G. E.
Great food products plenty of choice. The clothing department is very good with price, excellent quality electric products. Comfortable cafeteria with a good selection of food and drinks. First Class toilets very clean and excellent space for the disabled. And first Class parking.
Excellent service all round.
C. “. m. M.
One of the better shops not cheap however. Visit today looking for vegetables all fresh and now eaten very good .
a. c.
Try not to shop at Sainsbury's too expensive
G. M. (.
Great had what we wanted, clean, busy at the tills, they all had queues. Looking for something in a unfamiliar shop is not always appreciated by the regular customers who for the most part were in a hurry. Maybe we caught the shop at a rush time before the school collections. The shop was clean and smart and the staff at the tills were really friendly. Nice to leave with a smile on your face.
B. S.
Not a lot of fun! The staff were lovely as always but because I was there few hours before the Welsh lockdown people's manners had evidently deserted them. There are people who don't understand the concept of queues.
H.
Better than asda lol
P. M.
Nice big store with plenty of parking. Store was clean and well laid out so easy to find what I was after. Having Argos there is great too. Will go again
I. B.
Normal supermarket experience. Short staffed, under pressure and one of the more expensive retailers
A. C.
Modern store with good layout and aisles just the right width. Wide stock range including household and miscellaneous. Stock control very good - rarely any out of stock items. Plenty of special offers. Very good TU clothes area and Argos store. Very good light and open large restaurant/Cafe. Large car park. The perfect venue for the weekly shop.
K. J.
I love sainsbury's got choices for all tastes amazing 👏
j. w.
This shop has always been clean and ordered. Staff are friendly and helpful. During the 2020 lockdown when it was a requirement to wear a face covering when in a supermarket and keep a minimum of 2 m away from other. After a few very close encounters with people who didn't respect the I beganto panic and wanted to leave the store before finishing my shopping not wanting to just abandon my basket I walked straight to customerstay in the store where people kept getting too close. The lovely lady asked what I needed to finish off my shopping and there were just two items left. She told me to stay at customer well she went and collected the other items and rang them through her till for me. I was so grateful as it really was becoming a panic so now I know that whenever I shop in Sainsbury's I know that the staff are there to support me. Thank you.
P. M.
Decent sized store, good choice and well stocked. Typical Sainsbury's really in that it is light, airy, comfortable and well laid out. Staff are nice enough and till speed is pretty good. Cash points available.
Fuel stop is away from the store as they usually are. Nice sized forecourt and shop with good range of food, drinks and snacks. Car wash available. Didn't see an airline, but I wasn't looking for one - probably there.
Easy access to and from main road.
w. s.
good parking close to shop very helpful staff.I purchased a coat and was buying at self service when the staff member in that area asked to De-tag my coat . Toilets spotlessly clean and tidy plenty of paper etc. Clothing racks in order and didn't look like a jumble sale.
The fuel was Very competitively priced and as such I also filled my car up.
K. P.
It's handy as I its close to home. It's clean and tidy.
Restaurant always busy and tables not always clean and lots of dirty dishes on tables.
Staff are friendly.
Where you have bread slice / fresh cream cakes counter the staff to busy talking ro serve customers waiting. They finished chatty before they served me.
M. R.
Its ok. Unfortunately you can get a wheelchair through any of the checkouts due to covid screens. No signs or anything you just have to figure it out for yourself when you've finished your shopping.
R.
Had to return a few items, some from online & some from store, it was all simple & quick enough, from customer service to click & collect in the Argos concession store! Staff efficient & friendly. Also noticed some more lovely things in the clothing & homewares areas, just a shame I didn't have time to look properly! Next time....👍
T. A. M.
I like how wide and open Sainsbury's is however, compared to the likes of Asda and Lidls... they're just too expensive. Once in a while you'll get a nice sale but overall, basket for basket it's going to come out more expensive.
R. V.
Average Supermarket Range, very good Cheese counter with a good variety of items available to choose from. Very tasty. Nice to have the availability of fresh hot food, including make your own pizza with the additional option of cooking in store.
D. K.
Is nice & big. You could get lost in here, or lose yourself in its sympathetic aisles. The cooked breakfast is wonderful. But. I don't know enough to comment on the other food, as supermarket food is not often super at lunchtime. The products are abundant but feel overpriced. The scenery is poor but there is a sort of little clock tower (actually looks like a smoke tower from a concentration camp in the war) that gives the skyline a little historic spike. Staff here are kind and lonely looking. Timpsons is bizarre just at the entrance. Just really weird. But kind of relaxing. Overall: good times, I like it.
H. W.
Lots of car park spaces with a good fair few parent and baby spaces. Like the shop has a wide variety of products from televisions to pet food. Love the variety of this shop. There is now even an Argos inside. The biggest downfall of this shop is the staff! They are particularly rude and unhelpful.
c. b.
Plenty of stock, good place to shop
A. B.
Really good selection of home goods and groceries. Bonus it has a pharmacy too
S. B.
Busier than expected but otherwise a great experience.
A. B.
Staff lovely and helpful .some shelves empty. Didnt have everything I wanted . Eg BlackBerry jam just expensive stuff . Not the soup I wanted . Only large marmite again costly. I Shop small as there is only 2 of us . Chicken uncooked again packs to big . Limited with skin .Overall ok in current climate x

THE STORE FOR DISABLED SHOPPERS
A huge thank you to all Sainsburys staff, Argos staff and Security staff at your Albany Street, Newport, South Wales, store.
Could you please pass my thanks to all your staff at your store including your Argos staff and especially your security staff. For the past 18 years I have been a shopper at one of your leading competitors due to my husband receivinging a 10% discount on our shopping - but in the future we shall only be shopping with Sainsburys and forgoing the 10% discount thanks to your fantastic staff which put your leading competitor customers service level to shame. I am disabled and have to use one of your disability buggies. At checkout your till person arranged for all my shopping to be bagged up and then arranged for the bags to be taken to my car. The security guard who performed this task was very friendly and professional al at all times - a great credit to your store.
I wonder if you could erect a sign near the buggies informing the customer on how to obtain a key for the buggies. Another of your security staff observved I was getting confused on where to get the key and came over and was again helpful and went off and obtained a key for me. This kind act saved me stress and was greatly appreciated. Please thank everyone in your store and we will forego our 10% discount from your leading competitor and always will now shop at Sainsbury. FINALLY a store that understands and practices the true meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE ....
PLEASE LET YOUR HEAD OFFICE KNOW HOW PLEASED WE ARE WITH YOUR STAFF AND STORE. YOU ARE A CREDIT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Mrs Helen Black
T. R.
Love Sainsburys with the nectar card it's building up noce come Xmas time hopefully we'll basically have a free shop.
J. E.
Nice feel to the place
V. V.
Full breakfast served in 10 min 👍
C. M.
So friendly and helpful been going here for years and sainsbury..before it always found sainsbury inviting and not bad on price either
H. A.
A very big shopping mall. You will fins everything in there
L. J.
Had a lovely breakfast today with friendly service. The only thing that spoilt this was that the restaurant was so cold to sit in due to the air conditioning being on.
S. L. M.
Plenty options well spaced store comfortable shopping
T. D.
I use self scan I find it saves loads of time and makes shopping so much easier
P. F.
As always good experience
C. L.
I went here for argos which is located inside. The argos staff were very nice and happy. Was a pleasure visiting. Although i cannot comment on sainsbury's i suppose argos is a part.
T. O.
Sainsbury’s is always civilised, especially at Christmas. Sure, it might be a little more expensive, there’s lots of choice, the own brand stuff is always very good (unlike some other supermarkets). Also, I don’t get pulled over for a spot check in the self scan, every time I use it (unlike Tesco’s - sort it out Tesco’s! Nearly every time!!).
T. A.
A massive supermarket with ample free parking that have an Argos plus cafe in-store, that sell a great range of fresh, frozen & canned goods, alcohol soft drinks & beverages, confectionery, bread, biscuits & cakes, newspapers & magazines, tobacco items as well as household, plus clothing & footwear, kitchenware & towels plus bedding, electrical, very nice staff too especially the lady on the self serve tills on Thursday afternoon.
P. N.
Just right the way it should be.
S. J.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble for them. Knew where everything was in store but if not totally sure they would hide out. Always smiling. Cafe very good as well.
C. B.
Lovely breakfast as usual...only 1 issue, it seems a crazy idea to expect the serving staff to also make drinks, I ordered a coffee that demanded looking in the instruction recipe book so took a little time to prepare, by the time it was done there was a queue of 7 or more people!! And no one available to serve?
W. H.
Love sainsburys great prices always find a great bargain.
R. D.
Plenty of parking, store is well laid out with loads of space.
I. M.
Clean place, plenty of staff to help you if needed. Pizza counter will also cook your pizza for you if you ask them - bonus!
S. O.
Only get my petrol here
T. J.
Usual plentiful variety of items in food and non-food. Shopping experience spoilt by the fact that the cafe is still closed. A bit puzzling as most other supermarkets have their cafés open and busy. Big mistake on Sainsbury's part.
M.
Reasonably well stocked, good quality produce. Staff generally helpful and polite. Well lit and a bright open store.
J. H.
Well organised for safe covid practice but some customers relaxing their efforts and not wiping trolley handles before use..
R. L.
Nice range of reasonable clothes especially when the 25% discount runs. Nice quality food and pleasant and efficient staff. As good as any in town store, if not better!
L. B.
Good vegan range here which is one of the best around at the moment. I just find that the branded products are so much more expensive here than in other supermarkets. Which is a shame as that's why this is not my first port of call for a weekly shop.
N. W.
Long lasting clothes, pharmacy, cafe, Argos and some nice food in supermarket. Can be a bit pricey but a lot of products u don't see elsewhere. Don't forget to make a donation for the food bank box in store which goes towards local community 😊 own brand products are not bad.
J. S.
Nice supermarket, decent layout, clean, staff are always friendly. Nice selection of produce, and rare for anything to be out of stock
L.
Late Sunday afternoon shop provided no salad choice...
BUT the security doorman excelled himself wishing me a safe journey home to The Lake District! Thanku to him. Heartwarming
J. G.
As always, good selections and good value for money. Staff very helpful and adhering to current regulations. Can't fault them.
A. E.
visited to collect up some picnic items for my little boys day trip and as i went to grab him some yogurts there was a dirty coffee cup left in the fridges by the staff i knew it was staff and not just a customers cup from the cafe as the cup was not the same as the identical cups they serve with in the cafe so must of been left from the night staff but thought this was pretty disgusting hence the three stars other than this very good place to shop and they have some lovely season items eg mothers day, easter, Christmas etc
M. G. (.
Can get some lovely food here. But not ideal if you are on a budget. It has an Argos in the store and I love the home range they do. So if you are about it is always worth a look
M. P.
Spacious and well stocked, fab clothes
C. W.
Always good quality products. Thier fresh fruit & veg are probably the best of the big supermarkets. I've never had any bad fruit or veg from Sainsbury's. Good stock of clothing, books & magazines, general food, wine store, and now with a built in Argos store. Everything you could need under the one roof. There's also a free bus that runs quite regularly from the store to Newport Town centre (bus station)
G. C.
My go to place for my every day needs - spacious with excellent products! Could do with a bit more sale 😂
R. H.

Really lovely store. Open spaces. Plenty of room to move. Had breakfast in cafe. Excellent choice. Well cooked. Good service. Very clean and tidy
G. D.
The number of unmasked in this venue is horrible, too many people. Staff are great though.
M. J.
Good range of produce, decent cafe, friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff.
K. C.
Went to pick up a package from argos collection point. Plenty of parking. Polite staff. Easy to access from M4.
M. H.
Huge Sainsbury with Argos store inside aa well nice cafe for coffe or tea, my favourite quick takeaway is sainsbury pizza all sourdough bases choose a pizza or make one up with a good selection of choice and save you hassle of cooking later i get thwm to cook mine there 10 to 15 min wait finish my quick shopping pick up my pizza and check out in scan and go home on 10 mons pizza still warm family smiling thanks sainsbury for making one day of week finish on a positive note 😁👍
T. P.
A good store with lots of parking and different shops/services within it including Argos. However the 'recycling' area (at the far end of the car park) is not signposted, is overflowing and has some fly tipping so it's hard to recycle at this location.
D. D.
Very clean, organised and plenty of space. Felt safe with a lot of cleaning stations around and plenty of room in the aisles.
B. B.
Really like this big Sainsbury's store. Well stocked, huge Tu clothing area with lots of sale items. Fantastic range of prepared vegan meals. Lovely staff and big free car park.
A. J. E.
The escalator is a fun ride.. no stairs which is amazing, the Caffe is good but seats are (poor condition) they have a petrol station near with the lowest price fuels and there's a retail park within walking distance
S. B.
Visited on this occasion to get a birthday cake, had a good choice. Reasonably priced.
A. S.
Having not been in a supermarket for 2 or more years due to mobility issues, I was pleasantly surprised at quality and space within store to cope with disability users but Sainsbury were massively out in front!!!
Mobility chairs and super room and easy read aisle.
Well done Sainsbury!!!😃😃😃
R. M.
Nice open shopping space clean and tidy
S. B.
Staff are amazingly helpful. I missed my delivery thus evening due to my little one being ill in the car. Yet after a call to there helpline and speaking to the man that runs there delivery's he went out of his way to deliver my shopping when the other staff had finished/were fully booked. I can't thank them enough.
C.
Stupidly overpriced, hardly any good offers. I only visited the store because I had to collect some items I ordered online from Argos. Your a mug if u shop regularly in Sainsburys(instead...go shopping at another supermarket, buy almost everything u normally would at Sainsburys (notice how everything is like 40, 50 sometimes up to 80% cheaper than those rip-off con artists u used to visit and notice also how it's the exact same product which was produced in the exact same place by the exact same people in the exact same way. Now come up with a plan or course of action where the goal or outcome involves using that extra money u now have to making the world a better place. Thanks for taking the time to read this rant. Peace out.
s. a.
Very good staff.. helped me alot wen I brought my Henry hover
M. W. (.
Went for fuel. Plenty of pumps available, quickly served in store, option to pay at pump. Fab.
J. G.
Able to get everything you need here, I got plenty of clothes and groceries. The staff are very helpful especially when your walking up and down the aisles trying to find a particular item they seem to find it straight away.
D. C.
The staff are so much happier, customer service is perfect and staff always willing to help. For a major store such as Sainsbury's they manage the floor well, it's never overcrowded like it's competitors which enables you to take your time and enjoy your shopping experience.
P. K.
Fed up of having to search for small trolleys every time i go to shop whatever time of day busy or quiet might be better to go to asda and bring one from there
L. S.
Really lovely store, although they have cut quite a few prices to compete with other stores. Which is a definite winner
Q. M.
BRILLIANT INTERNET GROCERY SHOP!!
Prices might look more but look in the offers section on the app first. Also we had 50p next day delivery, driver brought produce into the kitchen counters, this the second time we used them. They dont charge 2% for using your card like TESCO do. We both have injuries so both times we've used them, the drivers have offered to bring the produce into the kitchen counters. TESCO and asda is to door only, Asda driver refused and started spouting off his job conditions. The food from Asda was rubbish and short date.
Food quality is excellent with good dates on your fresh so you can plan your weeks meal days. The app is the best we've used, it's fiddly to set up first time adding your payment options but the second time was a breeze as it remembers the card you've used. The App saves everything you buy as a 'favourite' so, when you shop next week choose favourites from the menu and just press on the repeats you want it's so quick. We've tried them. and love them and we're on a budget too. Hope this helps you.
E. P.
Easy to get to. Plenty of parking, everything I need all under one roof. Best of all staff available to help in a professional friendly manner .What more can you want.
K. B.
It a huge shop with an even bigger selection the staff were friendly with plenty of parking spaces wide isles and nicely set out shelves
J. N.
Very spacious and clean. Lovely helpful and friendly staff. Plenty of stock. Loads of parking spaces. Can't fault the store.
E. J.
Friendly staff, clean, reasonably well stocked.
s. t.
Generally this Store is Ok however some of the staff need to have Customer Service training. Bad experience on Saturday 6th May 2017. Surprised to see staff find it acceptable to be discriminative and racist to customers and then Continue to discuss it with other customers who are white not realising they are family members.
Shame seems to be going down hill.
j. j.
Spacious aisles in light of social distancing rules, so works out well. Well stocked, clean environment , lots of parking and courteous staff
C. A.
Great staff. Usually find products although occasional shortages do happen.
S. L.
Always like Sainsbury's. Clean, tidy and decent size lanes. Nectar points always a bonus when shopping here.
M. H.
Went to the small fish counter very unimpressed young boy knew nothing about certain types of fish I asked him if they did whole trout his reply do they come whole haha just shows how much many of the young staff know about of fresh fish or should I say face on ice total knowledge 2 out of 10 very poor
n. m.
I use the petrol station at sainsbury's as I find the fuel last longer and is generally cheaper than most places. The store however is overpriced for what you get. I can find the same items elsewhere and a lot cheaper. The 5 stars is for the fuel station.
K.
This is the best supermarket in newport, the produce is always great, there are wide Isles and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The car park is massive so no issues parking even at the busiest times. It is more expensive but in my opinion you get what you pay for.
J. H.
One of the best Sainsbury's stores. Wide range of clothing in fashionable styles and colours. Fresh fruit and vegetables always at their best. All their foodstuffs are good value for money. Also good range of home wares and technology.
M. K.
Cafe was like a works canteen big and with square tables. Store is well presented but compared to other super markets prices were a little high thinking of a middle class shop .
L. V.
Not a bad range of vegan food. Always room for improvement though.
M. H.
Store is well layed out, with a huge variety of food, drinks, clothing etc, it is very COVID safe, large isles, it also has an Argos in store, staff are very helpful
C. E.
So much space within the aisles that you can get around pretty much in light of the new regulations for social distancing. Well stocked, and very courteous staff
J. B.
Friendly, helpful staff and easy to find what you need instore.
D. N.
Excellent customer service. And unlike Aldi your shopping isn't thrown at you.
N. E.
Nice shop and café, spacious and airy. Shame sainsburys can be a little expensive. Friendly staff most of time. Though today served by Lonnie... Who could have smiled a little! Maybe he was having a bad day.
L. A.
Great shop.. A good choice of products here. Staff very helpful.
M. H.
Love going to Sainsbury's everything I want is always there in including if you want a cup of tea or coffee and even a meal after you've bought your groceries. Friendly people and always willing to help. There's also an Argos in the building which I find handy.
T. T.
Lots of parking, usually have what I want on the shelves. Staff are usually friendly and helpful. Argos inside handy for click and collect. Also a Timpson's here and a Jessops inside where you can get photos printed.
A large Sainsbury's selling clothes, home ware, food and drink, in-store bakery etc.
M. B.
Excellent very friendly helpful staff food and clothing top quality
I.
petrol and diesel price were higher than its competitors (tesco, esso) but overall had everything inside the station
P. C.
Love this new Sainsburys, very clean and tidy with nice wide aisles and a massive selection of goods, with a great home section. As always you pay a little more, but the quality of the shopping experience takes the sting out of the prices.
L. F.
Good service and keeping check on the restrictions
R. O.
Good location just off the M4. A larger Sainsbury's with plenty of clothing and household items. Cafe is extremely good and is recommended. Car park is simply massive.
L. L.
Busy busy busy its christmas and a lockdown looming.. only thing if using the loo take own hand gell there was no soap in any dispenser no gel no hand tissue...come on sainsburys you can do better
A. P.
Nice shop with lots of choice and quality items.
R. D.
Good store great variety and prices also handy in store Argus
D. B.
Have now moved my weekly shop there and love it, great store, always have what me need
T. G.
Its a great place to shop and got its own car park above it
R. R.
What's not to love about Sainsbury's? Great staff, Argos on-site McDonalds nearby and of course a great range of clothing for all. Located next to the Brynglas tunnels with very easy access from most parts of Newport, High Cross and Rogerstone. Did I mention that of all the supermarkets out there Sainsbury's seem to have the most approachable helpful and polite staff!
S. D.
Do all my food shopping there ,have done for years, polite staff quick service on the tils.
C.
The lady at customer service was friendly and helpful she bothered mind you l alwat find Sainsbury's staff helpful and pleasant as a whole her me is..Sarah she had a cute pic of her grandson one pleased customer !
B. S.
They sell FUEL10K here! I love that stuff
D. T.
Good food reasonable prices
J. B.
Felt like I was being followed by staff very inadequate behaviour I was very nervous about shopping there apart from that price was good
G. G.
Very disappointed with doing my shopping today, not a lot of fresh meat available lots of shelves empty and whilst waiting in queue for check outs lots of people waiting there was a call for till operators but none arrived until after the second call then they were just talking taking their time coming to the tills not good but I still love Sainsbury's
L. U.
Easy to navigate, helpful staff
G. G.
Well laid out
c. J.
Excellent customer service, fantastic produce but a bit more expensive than your average supermarket
E. T.
Very quiet with customers. Felt very safe. Staff lovely as always. Plenty of Christmas gifts.
R. O.
Bit expensive on some brand items
A. J.
Great place for Christmas food and decorations and best place for baby clothes
D. P.
This is one of Sainsbury's larger stores with a full range of items. Many things not available in my local Sainsbury's supermarket are available here. Staff are pleasant and helpful and there's ample free parking.
d. s.
A typical Sainsbury Store: huge carpark with fuel station and ample disabled parking outside the main entrance. Turn right inside the main entrance, is a lovely cafe and toilet area which caters for most peoples needs.
The store is huge and the shelves/racks etc are always well stocked. The bakery area entices people with delighful smells and, hiding in the rear of the store, a fully up and running Argos store. What more can you want?
L. M. F.
It is a big supermarket where you can find almost everything and it has a nice coffee shop inside it.
P. M.
Most excellent customer service, visited the store yesterday and after checking my receipt realised that I had been overcharged for some items. Kicked myself for not checking at the time and went back today with the receipt and went to customer services, explained what had happened and the lady was friendly, polite, apologised for the mistake and refunded the difference. This has made my day
L. P.
People respected social distance. It wasn't too busy. Fist time I have enjoyed shopping for a long time.
D. H.
Cavernous store - the largest Sainsbury's in Wales, as I understand it. Easy to get a bit lost in, but I appreciate how it rarely gets crowded as a result, not to mention the product choices. Indeed, I mostly go here in order to pick up products not in the city centre Local, such as Lotus caramelised biscuits.
J. F.
I don't shop at Sainsbury's very often but I do love there clothing range especially for children as I buy a lot from Sainsbury's for my grandchildren and it's brilliant value when they have the 25% off .
L. W.
Went for travel money (Euros) today. Great friendly service and currency was in stock.
S. B.
Clean, organised store! Variety of goods and products available. Staff are friendly and helpful
N. W.
Good value petrol
P. D.
Great stuff.everythjng good except coffee shop was closed when I went which was disappointing.
S. O.
It's Sainsbury 's! , I found really specific ingredients I wanted. Great selection of goods. Some great fresh veg but nothing really exotic. Store looked well kept and shelves were immaculate fare play.
R. P.
It's got great products, very clean and spacious but the prices are a bit high so we only really go there for Argus. Sometimes the bakery as well.
G. R.
Great shop .always easy to find what you need. Plenty of parking
n. m.
It's like a poor persons Waitrose! Expensive enough to maintain a certain clientele it is a comfortable place for comfortable people. It does make the best ever doughnuts
D. E.
Not a bad place to shop. It's not in the town centre but there's a free bus from town. Nice little cafeteria. It's got a big car park which is a plus.
M. C.
Great supermarket. They usually are well stocked. Relatively good prices although I find the more expensive than Tesco and asda. Never had a problem with the food. Plenty of parking for everyone
R. T.
Love the variety of things available there. Everything thing that a person could possibly need is available there. From groceries, to food, to books, to gifts, bouquets, clothes, hosiery, footwear!
S. m. H.
No crowds pleasant staff ease at looking around.
D. S.
Great shop, can be expensive on some items, but loads of offers, lovely eating area, clean toilets, regularly checked, loads of parking, plus petrol station easy access
G. B.
Rather expensive. Fruit and veg.
R. J.
Good shopping experience. Quite a few staff involved in a conversation and it was difficult to get their attention for some help with one of their products though.
C. E.
Always got what I need p.s plesae can some one fix the air port for your tyres it's been broken for months and it let's more air out then it puts in lol thanks
B. J.
Also have a great selection of food, clothing and drinks. Staff are always willing to assist
R. (.
A great place to shop. The shop is layed out well and they have a great selection of products.
S. L.
Standard Sainsbury's, staff were friendly and helpful.
Plenty of parking with two rows of disabled parking too
M. V. j.
Fuel prices always 10 p litre lower than Monmouth shell garage
A.
Not often I visit sainsburys, but when I do staff are always welcoming, but find it busy at times, especially with staff moving items with trolleys.
S. G.
I like to shop in Sainsburys nice feel to the place and so much choice, just ashame coffee shop not open at the moment. They do a fabulous coffee and toastie.
J. B.
Good.
P. R.
Great place nice food somethings are a bit pricey compared to other supermarkets. All in all well satisfied with the quality of the food and most of the employees are very amenable.
L. x. x.
Great good value for money. Lively habitat homeware as well
M. A.
I love this sainsburys, everything is well located, staff are excellent and always willing to help, the store is always clean and tidy and they have a great range of clothing and homewear
M. B.
Medioka and expensive for food that doesn't really match any other shop in the way of lasting more and we're not comparing with aldi or lidl they're just too bad
R. W.
Great shop. Easy to park. Fantastic staff & Manager. Friendliest supermarket in town
M. M.
It's Sainsburys.. great supermarket but getting a little expensive for certain items. Still worth a visit.
U. C.
Filled fuel and all was well
P. M.
Great Sainsbury's . It's a lovely walk there along the river trail from Caerleon. Nice coffee with very good tea cakes on special. Usual Sainsbury's groceries, fine. Good parking and a free bus to Newport centre.
A. B.
Always got good range of unusual items that can't be found in other supermarkets. Even better now that it has Argos in store as well plus plenty of parking.
K. D.
Love this store. So much in it. The clothes are fabulous.
g. s.
Not bad actually, considering covid 19 got into the store fairly quickly albeit at 10.30 on a Sunday morning.
S. E.
Very good at everything can't fault this store and very helpful staff
M. B.
Everything you could want in a shop
J. M.
Very good
K. M.
Nice supermarket, wide aisles, good range of items, priced competitively. Prone to overcharging and staff aren't very proactive.
A. T.
Good prices with everything easy to get hold of and the staff are brilliant
P. e.
Very good and helpful. But still a few shelves empty, why. Should be back to pre co vid time.
N. S.
Lovely clean place to shop, my most favourite supermarket
G. M.
Felt overcrowded. Nobody seemed to managing numbers in and out. Aisles full of cages making social distancing more difficult.
T. L.
Large, bright and airy. Great range of food and non food. Nice little cafe and bureau de change for foreign currency also Argos and Jessops.
G. T.
Store is very well stocked, clean and tidy my only real gripe is having to queue at the checkout.......... Need to open more checkouts during busy periods.
D. T. (.
Do our weekly shopping here. It isn't 24 hour so it closes earlier than we would like. Their range can be a bit limited compared to other Sainsbury's.
E. G.
The store is really clean, they're using heat shields to product the products within the fridges, all the employees are all chirpy and up beat during this blistering heat, too.
S. F.
It's all here but prices can be too high in some cases
r. f.
This Sainsbury's is beyond incredible. We loved it! Petrol was mega-cheap, there's recycling, a café, toilets, clothes, vegetables, tinned food, frozen food, crockery, fish, newspapers, chewing gum, magazines, alcohol, Mr Muscle, cheese, crisps, fruit, washing up liquid, meat, quorn, vegetarian sausages, yogurts, milk, baby food, cat food, dog biscuits, icing sugar, sweets, pants, socks, bin bags, batteries, table mats, cutlery, coasters, fruit juice, cigarettes, disposable barbecues, loo roll, peanut butter, razors, deodorant and much more - all under one roof! Supermarkets are indeed amazing places selling all the stuff you need along with a bunch of other stuff you probably don't need - like olives, tapenade, hummus, Pringles, sweet chilli sauce and nutmeg. We were utterly bowled over by our experience. Highly recommended. If you've never been to a supermarket and you want to know what it's like, try Sainsbury's Albany Street, conveniently located just off the M4. The toilets were unfortunately a bit dirty and not well signposted, but this is part of an authentic supermarket experience.
M. J.
Nice shop, nice staff
A. A.
Easy access. Great for your essentials
C. L.
Very convenient for me. Always find what I want in store. A bit more expensive than other stores but that's the price of convenience .
d. m.
Great store , very helpful team nothing is to much. Well done
J. P.
Great had everything I wanted and more but checkouts a bit slow x
A. G.
A lot of people who push Infront of you etc, very pricey at the moment as well. It's got a big range but not the best for us
J. D.
Well organised plenty of space... queues building for Argos coming up to Christmas though
D. H. (.
Great store, got pretty much everything you need. The building is very big, doesn't seem like they can fill the space that they have.
G. D.
Sainsburys still trying to do their best admist folks refusing to wear masks/face shields 🤬 shelves well stocked today.
N. P.
Fabulous variety of products which I found fairly priced , parking was easy ,staff were friendly and helpful
P. H.
Good deals if you know where to look..
g. c.
Always a very clean store, well laid out and wide aisles, lovely staff and quick checkouts that work.
A. O.
Lovely place
C. P.
No Welsh language option on the self-service check-outs. Lags behind Tesco, Asda and Morrison. Petrol Station consistently more expensive than other local supermarkets usually by £0:02.
Staff are their best assets. Garage staff unable to credit nectar points when the pump scanner fails to recognise the Nectar card. Short time limited discount coupons.
B. P.
It was ok but seems to have lapsed with safety and advice in general regards to new lockdown conditions
k. k.
Very expensive 🥴
B. H.
Always a great shopping experience !! I've been a Sainsburys customer for over 40years and wouldn't go anywhere else !!! Staff are amazing so great at their jobs you can see that Sainsburys really care about their customers and the community.
A. L.
Nice shopping place, but still problem that cars without kids at all parking in parent and child parking. Also shame the toys section is a lot smaller now
M. S.
Polite staff and Sainsbury's on brands are of good quality.
P. R. S.
Not bad a little over priced when you can buy some of the items for a lot less elsewhere the one good point is that the shop floor staff are good at their job
c. z.
Great as usual
p. b.
good parking but shelves poorly stocked. The early bird doesn't get the worm nor does the late one.
E. S.
Great shop featuring some more specialist items than other everyday superstore. However a little more expensive to allow for this.
C. S.
Big and friendly
P. C. S.
Sainsbury's are consistent in their service and offer a wide range of goods. The faults are lack of tills open and being forced to self serve tills. I want service!!
B. E.
Good for quick shopping visits. Love the food here. Very reasonable prices and good quality!
C. C.
Big store, lots of variety to choose from. Little bit dearer than other places for certain things but the cereals... bigger boxes for cheaper prices than the discount stores!
m. r.
Not much variety. Bakery isnt great. It's quiet and easy to shop though and the food is mostly decent.
B. L.
Always good value
D. B.
Great store and helpful welcoming staff on the door , and very helpful young lady in Argos
S. G.
Large store with massive range of goods. Always well stocked and quick to checkout.

V. F.
Easy parking and great selection of products
D. W.
Nice big store selling a bit of everything from food to flip flops. Jessops photography have also opened up a small store inside. A Timpson's is located just outside the store too.

Regular fueling station, always have a spot to fuel at straight away.. but unfortunately however the staff in the garage itself are quite rude and condescending.. so they can have 4 stars.. 🙂
C. O.
Lovely and quite busy place to shop. But you need to be driving to get there
S. C.
Needed a prescription and it was a Sunday so very greatful that their chemist service was open.
