Reviews of Waitrose & Partners Oxford, Botley Road
M. B.
Truly excellent supermarket that is actually more than a shop - close to a restaurant, and more. Great food. Lots of drinks. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff. Not cheap, but not very expensive either.
E. M.
Great store, you get all your top brand groceries for top Oxford price. Nice parking and easy access. On bus route. Would recommend to everyone.
J. P.
Up to the usual Waitrose standard with the added bonus of a zero waste section with a good variety of products dispensed into your reusable containers.
R. B.
Higher end grocery store in West Oxford. Join their frequent buyer program to save more. Friendly staff and larger space for more goods than the downtown stores.
C. S.
One of the well managed n great store in the area .
From entrance you get to se bunches of beautiful flowers to choose from . Then you get a huge huhe variety of home use products from across the globe to choose from . Stored is well organised n maintained in different sections . Also ther is a coffee shop inside as well as outside the store to wait if another member is shopping .
For upto starting 2 hours parking is free after that you have to pay the charges .
Recommended!!
T. G.
Easy to shop with plenty of choice in pleasant surroundings and easy blue badge holders parking.
K. E.
Waitrose is spacious, well stocked and full of friendly partners to answer any questions you might have.
M. O.
Good shop, reasonable prices. Please check cleanness of toilets, some smell preserved there.
E. R. M.
Very good grocery store with bulk options, fresh bread and lots of organic and vegan products
A. H.
Well stocked and plenty of choice - good size and everything you’d expect from Waitrose.
J. O.
Very good supermarket. Although very pricy on several products but what I do like about this shop is that they have very good quality products. That's why I don't mind to pay extra sometime for something good. Very often I have find out that waitrose or Ms are much cheaper on some products than tesco or sainsbury and etc. I will definitely will go back for more stuff. Plus you guys have very nice and friendly staff who are working so hard to deliver the best service to its customers 👍
F. N.
Nice cafe and normally good deals on too :D Staff always very helpful
D. B.
A good range of excellent products with helpful staff.
B. C.
Very nice experience to shop here, all the staff are great
F. L.
Clean and well stocked; nice café, recently reopened (April 2022). Good range of organic food, and a zero waste section where you can fill your own containers from larger dispensers of things like pasta, cereals rice and coffee as well as frozen fruit. Super helpful staff. You can pick up John Lewis online orders here, and also return JL and Boden orders.
R. P.
Complete contrast to the local Also, as you might expect. Has some nice things though of course generally pricy. Ice cream is good. Gluten Free not bad. Can get fruit and veg in small quantities, which saves on waste for sure.
T. B.
Having so much unpacked, and having refill stations is amazing!
K. M.
One of the finest and most elite supermarket chains. Although significantly pricier than other UK supermarkets, the excellent quality and large collection of items justify the price.
In addition to the usual supermarket stuffs, the in-house Sushi, Meat and food products are good. The collection of fruits and vegetables is larger than other supermarkets in Oxford.
Due to Covid, they have a limit on number of customers that can be inside the premises at one time. Therefore, the waiting time and the queues often tend to be longer on weekends.
L. M.
Lots of FREE parking, always a bonus. Very near bus stop. Huge selection of groceries, wide aisles & .many staff on tills. Good cafe as well
P. J.
Excellent store, very well stocked, excellent selection of fresh items, well managed, friendly staff, usually no problem parking, very handy location, prices only slightly higher than average for Oxford shopping. TY Waitrose👏👏👍
G. W.
Great store with ample car parking and a coffee shop if you're into that sort of thing. Good butchery and fish monger section.
R. D.
A great store, with friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. A cut above the normal supermarket.
M. R.
Did not have to queue for long & was very pleased with what I brought. A very cheery & positive ambience. Managers clearly know what they are doing. Wendy Cunning is an outstanding manager who really works hard & leads by example. Naomi has a phenomenal work ethic & is clearly management material who has the talent & application to rise as far as she wants to career wise at Waitrose. Sam is exceedingly thoughtful, hard working & has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. I know plenty of folk who shop here regularly & my late mother Sheenagh Reynolds was a massive fan of all things Waitrose. My Dad loves the cafe - especially the All Day Breakfasts which are exceptionally good value for money. The layout is very impressive & products are easy to find and there are always polite, intelligent & welcoming staff who are eager to help customers in need of assistance. All in all it was a huge blessing when Waitrose opened on the Botley Road - even the car parking is free !
s. c.
Excellent service products and wide variety of products little expensive but worth it
G. L.
Definitely my husband's favourite shop because of the low cal ginger beer, and other bits & pieces too. Think latest offer of spend £110 in order to get £10 off is a bit cheeky for households of 2 olds, especially as not inexpensive anyway...
A. H.
Wonderful new supermarket with a cafe and large selection of items. They have little devices which you can strap to your shopping cart so you can scan your own items and if you have an account then it will automatically be billed and you do not have to go to the checkout to check out your items. And extraordinarily wide selection of items especially good for buying meats and fruits.
N. O.
Lots of good customer service. Clean space and well designed store. Cafe is always busy and there are toilets and plenty of parking. Only issue is the is no mobile phone service in the store so I can't make calls or send texts when needed.
T. B.
Excellent and friendly service by all the staff, as normal. Fully open again. Even the Cafe is back open.
A. K.
Shop is nice but avoid cafe. Long wait and food wasn't good. Tip: buy your food in the shop and eat in the café.
B. D.
I dont usually shop at Waitrose but tried it out on opening, I loved it. The staff were so nice and helpful and everything was displayed well. I joined up to membership card and got my free coffee and paper (on spending £5) my partner and I love the restaurant, the food beats all the other chain restaurants and the presentation is very good. Others have mentioned the car park, but I must say I have not had any problem with the car park, getting in or out and have always found a space. Excellent.
B. L.
Good environment and you don’t need to pay for parking. The staff in the wine zone was very friendly and has given us very good advice, and even tried to find some bargain for us, unfortunately one of the wines we bought was too old, although expensive, that you feel like buying lottery hoping the wine in the bottle you chose is still ok. Fortunately, the customer services are very good, they refund us the old wine and let us to try the lottery again for free (choose another bottle). The unpacked fruit and veg are a surprise, although I didn’t see too much point as you still need plastic bag to pack, unless the plastic bag they provide are bio-material, easy décomposable ?
K.
Nice little store we popped into for lunch and essentials when visiting the area. Cafe was a bit slow on food orders but quality was good and worth waiting for. Only problem was finding the entrance which was a little unusual, we missed it 1st time around as it seemed to be obscured by trees and confusing signage.
J. H.
Two things let down this otherwise excellent well designed store. The entrance has a speed hump so high that it scrapes my front air dam every time I drive in. More irritatingly Waitrose's logistics software is rubbish so the shelves are almost always missing some stock. Not esoteric stuff but basics such as tinned tomatoes. They make no allowances for Bank holidays or half term and seem surprised when they run out of stuff. Otherwise a fine range of stock with good quality, fair prices and nice staff.
P. G.
Spacious store with two cafes, and the seasonal section is good.
C. C.
Wide choice of products, wide aisles - important for me as a wheelchair user, particularly currently with Covid-19 - and the best, nicest & most helpful staff at any retailer in Oxford! Always a pleasure to shop there... :)
C. O.
I always enjoy the Waitrose shopping experience- wide, well arranged aisles, courteous staff and patrons. Today thoughy, my timing was a bit off as it was heaving busy but still enjoyed.
B. B.
It is always a pleasure to shop there. The staff are the best you can wish for so helpful, It is never stressful as you look after your customers so well to make them feel safe. It is the only one that seems to do this, to a high standard. Thank you all.
B. K.
Generally a good place to shop for quality products. Good parking provision. However, the restaurant menu needs updating. Restaurant was understaffed during Saturday lunch hours. The food was often poor quality - overcooked and poorly presented. Visited the restaurant on 12 August 2017 - the "Aberdeen beef burger and chips" meal was of poor quality - chips soggy and burger was dry. "Pulled pork wrap with roasted vegetables" - there was not much pork in the wrap, not much roasted vegetables either, it was filled with salad instead.
P. S.
The pub was excellent as usual it great food
N. C.
A pleasant new addition to the area, this shop gave us a nice new variety of food to choose from. Always plenty of people to service the tills, never had to queue.
Q. S.
I love this shop - friendly helpful staff, good quality food, reduced packaging where possible, some local/national produce (could be more) and plenty of choice for vegetarians, vegans and organic foods.
S.
Lovely well-stocked Waitrose; has a local phone number, and you can ring it and speak to an actual person who will answer your questions! I won't shop anywhere else. Thank you, Waitrose!
S. P.
Yaaay! At the moment (Feb 2018) Waitrose is undoubtedly the best for range and quality and the most consistent supermarket chain in the UK.
I have shopped in John Lewis / Waitrose supermarkets for more than 50 years and never been disappointed. I love the employee owned ethic, the social responsibility of the company to local needs, and the sheer classiness of the store and it's products.
T. C.
Your typical supermarket, sure it's abit more expensive but the quality of the food is slightly higher than that of Tescos or Sainsburys, specially Asda for sure.
M. E.
Decent waitrose branch with a tricky entrance and exit point. It's not that big so won't stock a more varied range but it's enough for top up shops and if you're not after a particular flavour of air freshener. The entrance is a bit awkward as it's off the main road which is leading to the town centre and quite near the a34 roundabout so it can get busy and it can get especially awkward to exit if you need to go across traffic. The parking layout is a bit odd as they've crammed as many places in an asymmetrical fashion so some spaces can be awkward to park. There is a small cafe and deli counter, worth a visit.
U. S.
A superb shop with excellent quality at an excellent price, I love Waitrose and I’d choose it over any other shop
R. W.
Staff very helpful with the new apps on the phone all round place to shop
J. E.
Great staff , great service , very good hand wash stations . Two way pedestrian for entering and leaving the store. Also great for helping with the environment.
E. D.
Social distancing isn't great. They've formed a queue line and they direct you to a till number but you'll find someone will queue jump from one of the food isles. Staff seem friendly enough and seems to want to help when asked
N. H.
Very restrained panic buying here with no one taking excess of anything. However all the loo paper was gone, even recycled and patterned. Flushable wipes gone and non flushable too. Tissues, gone. Even the kitchen paper (seriously?!).
Top tip though. Femfresh still in plentiful supply.
5/5 would panic shop here again
M. S.
They were out of stock of half the things we needed. Maybe there are supply issues or something. But my experience today wasn't great.
B. B.
Good supermarket with luxury and mainstream products. Smallish car park, but never seems to be a problem. Staff helpful. Cafe, plus free tea/coffee for those with loyalty card.
T. J.
It's Waitrose. So just the place to get well priced, good quality chicken livers. And Gressingham duck. It has a surprisingly well stocked kitchenware section. Only let down by the fact it runs out of sandwich baguettes early into the lunch run and for some reason they never have anyone helping on the self serve checkouts for age verifiable products. They could also really do with more people on the tills at lunch.
I. A.
If there is one thing I like about waitrose is its cleanliness. Don't get me wrong all supermarkets make an effort to be as clean and as hygienic as can possibly be. But it's like everywhere else the staff are tired and will only do the bare minimum to get away with a pass whereas in waitrose they seem to go the extra mile to ensure everything is clean and in its right place.....it encourages you to eat clean. It's almost as if the management or shareholders want it to be a new store everyday.
With the quality of food they have on offer, I have no doubt you will find something to fulfil your requirements for a healthy meal and you may actually notice a difference in the way you change.
If you live right close to one forget everything else and try it for a week. You may spend a little more cash and you may not get the exact same products you usually do but you will feel better for it at the end.
R. S.
Rather amusingly Google still think the MFI/Halfords is here on Street View!
Probably one of the more decent stores in Oxford with broadly good customer service as you would expect from a Waitrose (the "& Partners" addition will never catch on long term). Good choice although, of course more expensive than other stores. I visit less frequently than I used to purely because of value. Cafe is nice addition however and there are toilets in branch.
G. R.
Reliable top quality food store with pretty much everything that you need for home cooking.
B. V.
Well stocked Waitrose. Not much to say except it does the job. Could do with bike racks that are less hidden, more in the open to avoid risk of theft. Apart from that, it does the job.
G. M. r.
Stopped off there for breakfast while me and my mother were heading up to Yorkshire for a short holiday. Had a great breakfast at the cafeteria.
R. H.
Excellent quality, a little pricey but you get your money's worth. Store is clean and staff more than friendly. Leaving the parking is a mission, -1 star, there should be a traffic light.
C. W.
Oxford was due a Waitrose so it's good to have one here at last. The location isn't great (you pretty much have to drive unless you live on Botley Road), but the selection and quality of food is the best in Oxford. I still prefer staying at home and getting it delivered by Ocado, though!
O. R.
Nice new large store. Well organized with a large selection of goods. I also enjoy the free coffee they offer when you show them your Waitrose card.
K. H.
Very good Waitrose with flowers and plants plus eco section with refillables, eg pasta, lentils etc
R. J.
We love Waitrose glad its come to the Botley road, there is just one BIG problem. If you request a breakfast make sure you do it 24 hours before in advance. Went today one of the first there ordered at 9.14am and received the food at 9.55am. To add to insult the food was hot but it got cold because the plates were stone cold. Come on Waitrose get your act together this is not the first time, the staff are lovely but something is very wrong somewhere, I think they are cooking on a campfire. One hungry customer ..................
C. B.
To be commended for introducing non packaged fruit and vegetables. And wine in refillable bottles. And lots else . Seems to be popular and I hope Waitrose rolls it out.
G. L.
Thank you so much for dropping off the bread that was missing from my click & collect order earlier this week. Truly above and beyond what one expects from customer service!
A. E.
So good to have a decent supermarket near Botley at last!!!!
Christmas Eve we had a mess up with the collection of our Christmas Turkey.... So Waitrose gave us a FREE one of our choice!!! That's customer service for you. You'd never get that at The Co-operative, Tescos or Iceland!
M. F.
It's a good if not sometimes expensive supermarket. Can get quite busy in here and can be problematic trying to get around if you have have a pushchair due to cages and product display.
M. P.
A good supermarket. Nice and quiet on Wednesday morning at 8:00.
M. K.
Probably it's the best supermarket in Oxford in terms of variety and reliability of stock, which, on the other hand, is as well what you pay for... Still, their special offers can be very good, which - in particular when combined with their loyalty special deals - can sometimes offer even a better value in price than other usually cheaper supermarkets.
J. W.
Got my meats, and some veg, breads etc shame no loo rolls or tissues. As my 84yrs old mum need them, But staff Very understanding.
C. M.
Best, shopping experience, quality good produce. Friendly and thoughtful staff. Free parking, coffee shop and restaurant/cafeteria. Free trolleys. And a free coffee after shopping or in the coffee/cafeteria when buying something to sit down and eat there.
j. d.
Friendly & well trained staff, but remember to get in early on Saturday for those hard to find ingredients, shelves are low stocked at times.
J. m.
It's new, it's Waitrose, and it's BIG. ISH. It LOOKS big from the outside. It didn't feel very big compared to their Wantage store. I've only visited once, I think, since it opened. Possibly twice. Since I don't live in Oxford the only suoermarket shopping I tend to do there is in Aldi across Botley Road, or the Chinese supermarket between the station and George Street. With a Waitrose in Wantage on the way home anyway, I have little need to carry stuff far further than necessary. Perhaps I'll explore it more one day. Waitrose always annoys me a bit the way they have the right-wing propaganda sheets they call "newspapers" at the till displaying their hate- or fear-inducing headlines. Waitrose has often made me cry in some ways.
S. I.
The staff was very helpful, the store was extremely tidy and clean, we enjoyed our visit and we realized it is actually not as expensive as we thought it was.
T. T.
Convenient branch with all the usual services. The coffee shop on this branch is very nice, although slow to serve sometimes when you order food.
B. M.
Good place to buy groceries, apart from them being little high in price. Love their offers and discounts. 👍
T. G.
Love this place, the cafe is nice place to meet up with friends for coffee break
J. M.
Usually quite impressed with the high quality foods... quite surprised to find the veg was not up to usual standard this week..the broccoli had fluffy mould on it.. veg was not so fresh this week....
A. H.
Thoroughly enjoy my weekly shop here, friendly staff and great food. Always finish my shopping off by taking advantage of the free coffee with my waitrose card.
R. B.
It's the newer Waitrose in Oxford, and bigger than the one in Headington. The selection is similar, but there is more room to move about. There is free parking, which is nice since the location in Headington has a pay upon arrival lot.
K. L. H.
Fine and great place
C. J.
Great store and coffee shop but people are correct about the car park. It's rather small and to turn left into it you have to cross the end of a bus lane and cycle route. Going to end in tears for some I'm afraid
J. R.
The store was opened in 2017. It is very spacious, with good variety of products (the shelves are always full), and still feels new. The staff are very nice.
M. S.
Staff are very helpful and polite here, I think it's massively improved as I used to find them offhand if not slightly grumpy. Thanks especially to Hilal this morning. :-)
E. G.
Nice food, friendly helpful staff. Only 1 1/2 hours parking though - sometimes I don't want to rush my free coffee!
K. H.
Whilst the supermarkets not bad, the service in the cafe is extremely slow. They have all the right stuff it just looks like they have no idea how to use it.
d. “. c.
Wonderful social distancing, their usual great variety of foods (even Hertz chicken frankfurters!).
A. R.
Seemed to be a good Waitrose store
Good parking facilities and easy to access
Limited stock of birthday cakes with no number 4 candles made improvisation mandatory
L. W.
Shop clean and well organized. Staff friendly and helpful, even when working under pressure .
C. M.
Always a great selection here. Fresh produce plus some nice treats here and there that you can't find at standard stores.
T. M.
I find this stall frustrating with many items often out of stock. Every time I shop here I have to go elsewhere to get items I need and would expect to get in one shop at Waitrose.
f.
We live in Jericho and we were very excited at the prospect of a Waitrose opening on the Botley Road.
However, we are quite disappointed as the store seems very limited on organic produce, infact the majority of organic produce they sell is Duchys which is expensive and dull (Duchys seem to have the monopoly).
The store seems huge and vacuous and not very inviting, i think the plan and lay out doesn't quite work.
For us its a bit of an anti-climax, we have gone back to online shopping through Ocado, which has a wider organic selection.
E. G.
Good place to shop. Adequate parking, big supermarket. Lots of good choices for food items.
J. M.
Slightly upmarket supermarket. Good parking easy access from Botley Road
B. L.
Not the largest but very good to pop into for the odd item. I don't drive but car park certainly could be bigger and the entrance isn't the best.
P. G.
Good range of products, but a lot of the mainstream branded goods are heavily over priced
T. N.
given how close to a city centre this is, it is a remarkably big store. I think the stock is reasonable but the biggest thing is parking - a rare treat in this city
F. O.
Good customer service
S. A.
Great Food Store
J. “. H.
Great customer service and really high quality food. Waitrose also have the best booze selection of any supermarket.
l. c.
All good
n.
Even at this time, a stress-free shopping experience. Fruit and veg, pasta, rice and grains, all without all the unnecessary packaging.
Z. K.
Recent addition to the Botley Road and a great little store. Conviently located enroute out of Oxford. Never any problems finding a parking space and staff always friendly.
M. T.
Great range icecreams. Clean grocery place
A. O.
First time here. Cafe good and better than Abingdon. Toilets clean as Abingdon ones are awfull. A much better feel to the store
S. T. W.
Nice selection of groceries. Great environmental polices. Could do with Electric Car charge point
A. V.
Nice new Waitrose. Spacious and airy with a good café. They even loan bike trailers for customers shopping.
L. H.
A very pleasant shopping experience, shelves well stocked with plenty of choice. Convenient parking
Y.
Nice super market with lots of organic option.
Parking is very easy.
My favorite one in super market Oxford.
M. A.
Good service and friendly staff. I also think that Waitrose has a good selection of quality food and items.
B. O.
Very well stocked with fresh vegetables and an excellent bakery.
J. K.
Looks awesome! Quite large and so not cramped at all, car park a touch on the small side but all in all very good.
S. N.
It's a decent sized waitrose, seems to be at the forefront of the company's forays into more reusable packaging
J.
Good selection of food and drink and there is a refill point for pasta, rice etc.
P. U.
Nice ambience in the shop but often lacks stock in the vegetable isle
P. A.
I bit pricey but not bad, felt very safe and hygenic,
T. L.
Yes great got all that i needed Thanks.
A. W.
Thought the cafe and bakery were excellent. Generally a nice modern supermarket.
D. W.
Rather disappointed today. Staff weren't particularly helpful. Such a shame that there was no turmeric here yet again
L. N.
New supermarket in town rather than out of town which is good, but the car park is pretty tricky and exits onto the main road in a very odd way
R. S.
Nearly all Waitrose stores are excellent. This one is no exception; excellent in-store cafe.
N. T.
Only a small supermarket so stock is limited. Nicely kept store with a good sized car park.
A. L.
Nice open and bright aisles. Love their current initiative to reduce packaging.
S. S.
Really good shop. Plenty of variety of goods.
G. W.
A great place to shop. Everything displayed well as you would expect.
E. G.
I keep going to that Waitrose for the varieties of melons... especially Matisse melons... So delicious!
B. W.
Nice shop, very soaps. However: shelves are often empty and it can be hard to find what you're looking for.
R. C.
Great Meat and Fish counter and a wonderful selection of desserts even on an icy Monday. Would go back.
p. c.
Good quality food, and surprisingly excellent Cafe for a quick bite during shopping.
J. B.
Great all round, food, service, nice interior. Has a cafe with nice quality food plus can eat outside.
G. M.
Lots of parking, excellent food and great staff. Call in and try for your self!
p.
A good and clean place to shop. Good quality meat and fish. A bit expensive but ok....
P. J.
Very clean shop with loads of choice of goods. Staff were friendly and professional
B. S.
Brand new store, pretty good selection. Not as large as I expected it to be as it was being built, but otherwise it's a standard Waitrose.
A. B.
Always a pleasure to shop here and some very nice food too
C. M.
Excellent shop, friendly, efficient service. Spacious and light with wide aisles
S. G.
It's Waitrose, great customer service, free coffee and nice layout. It makes a weekly task possible.
J. W.
Nice place, staff are friendly and happy to help. More vegan choices would be good 🙂
J. A. M.
Shopping without the stress of the crowd in town. I love Waitrose products. Excellent service.
c.
Finally! a decent Supermarket for West Oxford. Also great place to conduct a game of MILF Watch!
E. D.
Excellent shop with a good choice of quality food.
The entrance of the car park is a bit tricky.
M. G.
A nice supermarket with plenty of variety of products at hand. Quality food and plenty of parking.
R. B.
surprisingly wide selection for such a small shop, also some "unpacked" (environmentally-friendly options)
J. W.
Not as good as one might hope. Best range of flour that I've found in Oxford supermarkets, though.
M. D.
Visited recently, well spaced out inside too. Staff very helpful and welcoming.
N. R. F.
Love Waitrose all ways helpful and friendly staff and good food on offer
A. G.
Simply wonderful, pleasant staff & product as per expected Waitrose standard.
N. L.
Best supermarket in Oxford. Bit more expensive but it has great range of organic and ecological products.
A. A.
I loved the unpacked area. Waitrose should place it in all their supermarket
C. S.
Always great customer service, lovely staff great produce and good choice!
P. T.
Still some opportunity to buy goods packaging free but the pandemic has shrunk the range.
W. A.
Surprisingly fresh and tasty food for a grocery store cafe. Lemon tarts are a must.
K. N.
Good sized waitrose with the usual great waitrose range. Not the best designed carpark though!
L. d. B.
Particularly pleasant staff -- even by Waitrose standards
P. W.
Great store - could be improved by a seat at the bus stop opposite. How about sponsoring one, Waitrose?
S. L.
Very nice store as usual with waitrose. So close to Oxford centre. Quite a lot of parking.
T. M.
One of my favourite grocery shopping. They always have a good deal
A. L.
A bit chaotic with some grumpy staff as a result, but good quality as you'd expect
J. H.
I guess best Waitrose shop in city. Fantastic selection
D. S.
Like most Waitrose stores. Easy layout and great products. Friendly staff.
C.
The best supermarket in the area if you like good quality and local food
J. M.
Good social distancing, great products, as always quite pricey though.
I. P.
Rather crowded considering the current situation, there didn't appear to be anyone controlling the number of customers entering.
P. K.
Up to the expected high Waitrose standards. Good café, clean toilets, friendly staff.
I. V.
Great customer service, always high quality products, not as expensive as you'd imagine.
A. Y.
