Reviews of Plymouth Market
l. B.
There are some amazing food businesses in there but it struggles with everything else which is a great shame. There are a few quirky stalls left but online has killed this! Highly recommended for food and drink though! Especially the milkshake bar!
N. P.
We had Thai food at the Thai stand, milkshakes at the milkshake stand, bought various nuts from the nut House stand, clothes for my daughter at the £5 clothes shop and wax melts from the wax melt lady... All were bargain prices. The Thai food was amazing and the milkshakes were great.. Lovely little lunchtime shopping experience without breaking the bank

Cars & Bears Plymouth Market has one of the best ranges of quality diecast models and collectable bears.
J. S.
It has some interesting stands to shop from. From fresh fruit to local treats, clothes, meat and other stuff, the Plymouth market is worth a visit. Please go there in the mornings to capture it fully working. It is also nearby some interesting places such as African shops, some places that serve Halal meat and a Portuguese café.
S. K.
Very clean with an assortment of stalls but not all open! Bought some items from a stall with a very helpful assistant.
There seems to be an abundance of eateries (maybe not all necessary!)
It's a place I haven't visited for a long time and feel I needed more time to browse around so will return...
J. R.
Although Plymouth market is a bit dated in appeal, it is the perfect place to find hidden gems. In the market, you can find some of the most amazing Asian food, along with other quality products, such as bags or wallets. I'd highly recommend visiting the market as you'll certainly stumble across something that meets your needs.
O.
It's worth a little stroll, the market is looking quite empty alot of the stalls are close, however there are some good stalls for lunch or a little snacks.
L. C.
I make a visit to this market most collecting fresh fruit and vegetables from the local stores I'm buying my meat from Martin's the butchers which I have done for at least 20 + years. The staff in this shop are fantastic people. The only thing that has changed with the shop is the staff there all old men and still provide a great service with a laugh and joke.
C. H.
Enjoyed a stroll around the stalls, some great creative small businesses in there. Stopped for breakfast at one of the cafes, lovely freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. Bit of a forgotten jewel in Plymouth's crown 👑
S. N.
Absolutely love the market, so many little stalls with different personalities and alot of choice for shopping, sometimes you get a pop up stand or 2 also. A few food stalls are present there too, mostly Asian, Tea and Bun being my personal favourite.
A. C.
Some great stalls here, giving really good value for money. The Apollo cafe upstairs offer exceptional good value meals. I would have given 5 stars if it would stay open later then 2.30pm. The Cheese stall has an incredible selection of cheeses. See photo.

It was nice to visit the Market as it had been a very long time since I had been to Plymouth with my wife. On this occasion we also had one of our daughters friends with us on this day trip from Bristol. I know that it it is still early into the year but the Market wasn't as full, there were quite a few empty stalls or ones which were just not open on that particular day but other than that I wasn't too disappointed in going there.
m. r.
Popped in hear, to see someone who I haven't seen in years, chap called Wesley, lovely guy who sells model construction kits, also during lock down, another great guy is Joe's fruit n veg, all absolute tops, worth the visit. 👍
C. J.
Plymouth Market always has a friendly, community vibe. I particularly like the haberdashery stalls. I fear for the future of places like the market, we've lost so many traditional shops in Plymouth so would always urge all of us to shop local as often as we can or we risk losing such treasures.
M. S.
This is a little mafia. Traders in the gang hold licenses. Outside vendors find it hard to get in as licenses are already given. Some good traders some borderline trading low-end stuff. Good place to go for inexpensive stuff.

This market is a great asset to the city of Plymouth, with an excellent range of stalls, fresh produce sold and some good places to eat. It is a refreshing change from the usual high street chain stores and a place where one can actually get things repaired (such as watches and jewellery etc.) at realistic prices. The atmosphere is friendly, the place is full of character, love the street food stalls, car parking is available immediately behind the building, public rest rooms are inside and a spacious market hall all undercover in a purpose built unit. A visit is recommended if one is calling into the city, especially if you appreciate the market experience.
J. J.
Quiet a few stalls missing rest of the stalls quiet busy. The market in general was very clean and tidy
C. M.
Popped in, grabbed some sweats for the family, along with steak and cod. Steak was great, looking forward to cod later in the week.
j. l.
Great Thai food !!!!!!! Wow amazing
Some stalls are poor but some good ones to be found
Net curtain shop is excellent
K. H.
Why don't we use it more. All those things you want and can't get anywhere...try the market. Lots of new eating experiences popping up and seem popular with all generations. From fabrics to mops. Pop in.
J. K.
We had a lovely Thai meal in Plymouth market.
A.
A great indoor market with lovely unique stalls open all year 6 days a week. Check out the fab food places now with Taste of Thailand, @Kitchen, Tea and buns - Ramen, Bao Buns & Bubble tea, Kawaffle Bubble Waffles, Soul Food, Tantuni Turkish food as well as lots of others and produce sellers!! All are great. Also love the unique Kawaii Store, all things cute from Japan and Korea 😍 Perfect way to spend a rainy day in Plymouth, Devon.
S. C.
Loved this place for 25 years everything you need in a brilliant market with about 50 stalls
D.
The sandwich emporium in Plymouth Market is amazing. All freshly made on order and a huge selection. Very reasonable on price as well
G. T.
I visited this market In the early 80s and it wasn't very nice place at all as it had been run down.
My wife and I visited it today for the first time since then and I must say what a transformation it is very clean all the stalls laid out in a way that it's easy to get around, there is something for everyone.
The produce is exceptional and if we were living here we would be regulars.
M. M.
Nice market but i would highly recommend the Thai restaurant it was absolutely lovely with very good service, we went back the next day too , the vinyl record shop was good too and reasonable with a friendly owner 😎
J. P.
My friends and I cut through here on our way to a restaurant and stopped off for a quick hot beverage. There are lots of individual stalls selling virtually everything but a fresh meat/deli stall caught my eye. It was clean and well laid out with clear pricing. The staff were well presented and friendly. The cafe on the ground floor was busy but we were served swiftly. I realised I don't visit here enough and will certainly be back to source fruit, vegetables and the lovely meat/deli stalls.
J. C.
I liked this place, quirky market with everything from trophys to fishing tackle. Unusual to see so many things represented rather than just clothes stalls.
D. L.
Great market with lots of stalls all sorts of things available.
J. E.
Always like a wonder through the market. Not as good as it used to be as it has more food than anything else. But Always worth a look.
G. H.
We purchased 4x netting for 4x windows and we were expecting it to cost 35.00 considering their size we were shocked to find out it was double and we paid 65.00 oh well they were very nicely designed and easy enough to fit the council gave us some starting kit and I was very surprised that they gave so much and im fairly gutted that I didn't get my own ouncil flat oh I so wish I did !! Fair play Tom good luck in your new flat.. Those 15 years seemed to fly by and I was 29 years old when you moved in there Good bye erniesettle will miss that bungalow I hope your neivhbour is nice and not to loud. Sorry about missing Saturday I didn't mean to ....
M. B.
Very friendly, and helpful stallholders, very reasonable and cheap prices for decent products, the upper canteens are very clean, staff are friendly, food is well cooked and substancial, and at a very reasonable cost.
M. B.
Love the material stall city fabrics and the accessory store for crafts right in the middle run by Terry and his lovely wife..
P. E.
Varied stalls and eateries, a row of cafés on the balcony but don't expect 5* food, had a cooked breakfast this morning and most of it arrived cold, still got stomachache 9hrs later.
T. M.
It's always good to support local small businesses. Use your market.
S. W.
Love our market & stalls
Our favourite Family run butcher is Always a Top shopping place for Quality 10/10
C.
A taste of Thailand is literally a hidden gem here.
B. V.
Good meal at Petes Place. restaurant upstairs. more than plenty to eat. Good value.
j. s.
You get good place to get a new work backpack and a nice place to look around stalls
m. p.
Excellent experience of walking around seeing all the different trades in this under cover market.
C. W.
Understated and underrated... try visiting. Reinvigorate those senses dulled by the mundane sanitised High Street stores and eateries. See the colour, smell the atmosphere, hear the local and not so local dialects, try the food from the stalls. We ate from the Thai street stall... if it were Italian I'd pinch my fingers and sing mama Mia!...
That will have to do!
M. W.
Shame that so many stalls unoccupied. A great place to visit and find out of the ordinary products. Brilliant small eateries etc.
K. T.
Lovely little market although im gutted tge record store has gone
D. “. C.
Always something new here every time we visit. Plymouth's Chris Dawson (The Range Group) started out here and we know how that turned out!
B.
Some good food places to be found here. Lots going on, restaurants food stools, fishing, fish market.
D.
Went to what was TC,s cafe now John's for dinner, always good food and service.
S. L.
We go to Downtown cafe ,lady who runs it always the same, friendly and helpful, but sad to see so many empty stalls .
M. Z.
I was quite surprised how it's changed with several Asian stalls doing a roaring trade with meals while you wait all freshly cooked infront of you
J. M.
Nothing like it used to be less stalls more food outlets it looks lifeless not the place to look for something different I now only go to 2 or 3 stalls when I go in I don't bother looking around
A. B.
Awesome place i remember going here as a kid and then stopped during my teens but now there’s some really cool food places like tea and bun and kewaffle have a Scout around you will definitely find food you live in there
I. H.
Like the market but Covid has spoilt the atmosphere and it is rather flat with many of the older traders retiring leaving empty stalls.
I. C.
Nice friendly people , everything is fresh ,not in plastic bags , and I got some proper ox tails , price wise for fresh produce reasonable
l. q.
I love going into this market because there is so much to choose from And At a very reasonable price.
S. W.
Tea and bun in the market. Lovely market cafe. Great food and atmosphere.
I. S.
Very nice undercover market number of different stalls.
M. G.
Variety of stalls, always visit Julie's Melts, she is the best
L. L.
A vibrant market, the most important thing is, including a seafood market also
K. R. H.
Some stalls still empty but nice veg and unusual gifts. Cafe basic good value grub and pleasant staff.
A. B.
A great place to go for all your veg, meat and fish. Also loads of stalls with jewellery, clothes and gifts. If you want breakfast or lunch you definitely want to go upstairs and visit one of the many cafés.
C.
Cosy and plentiful.less modern than the mall but still charming.
M. T.
Pity there are so few stalls. The food stalls are great as is the butcher and veg stall.
J. J.
Shame, this market could be great but instead it's old and dated. Take a look at other European city markets Plymouth. This should be an amazing market colourful, vibrant and full of lovely delicacies, instead of dull, old and some not inspiring stalls. That said, the Thai cafes are amazing.
C. R.
It's a indoor market, it's got stalls, parking could be better
K.
Still retains some of it's original stalls mixed with modern ones. Clean & tidy facilities, parking right outside. Traditional food stalls, butchers, fruit & veg, bakers, plus lots more.
B. S.
Quality food and veg. And vertically anything you need. Lovely people.
P.
We had an excellent meal and coffee with friends at The Apollo at a very reasonable price. We'll worth a visit.
e. d.
I love walking around Plymouth market. It has a great range of stores with good quality products and amazing prices. Really would advise checking it out as it seems that most people avoid this end of the town now, but you are really missing a treat if you do. From bags and clothes to jewellery and vapes as well as a range of foods with take aways, sweet shops, green groceries, butchers, cold meat delis and fresh fish (including crab!). The market really is the place to visit if your looking for a one stop shopping experience.
S. F.
A nice little place with a small variety of stalls inside. Plenty of choices for food inside and suits all types of appetites. Definitely recommend for food could do with more stalls of other types
S. T.
Standard indoor market, some interesting bits about but nothing jumped out at us.
C. A.
It was ok, had a few clothes stalls, food stalls and craft stall.
g. j.
Very handy market place, from meat, veg to records can be found
L. S.
Always great fun to visit and something snap up. The lops are very clean too.
I. M.
It was a market with few good coffe shops ,now it turns to a supermarket with more eating capacity than shops.
j. k.
Excellent lunch at the Turkish stall here. Really great tasting food and good sized portions.
N. E.
We went for the Thai food and OMG not disappointed, it was gorgeous. If you're not sure what to have just ask the lovely ladies and they will point you in the right direction. Taste of Thailand - would highly recommend.
G. B.
Not a bad place. The fish area is the best . Amazing fresh fish
S. M.
It's everything you need it's so good and it's a place that does roast and it's beautiful every day after 11 it's brilliant everything is there that you need and so good shop advisers and staff
T. B.
Needs a lot of investment and modernisation, stalls inside are good.
A. C.
Slightly outdated, clean but definitely could do with an update.
T. C.
Went there for Elsie-Boutique wax melts, best in the area. Fantastic staff, good value for money and great longevity . The range is excellent, range of colours and very pretty. The proprietor always takes on board, customers opinions and recommendations. Also sells the wax burners and t lights, the full pachage. Five stars.
P. A.
Great market lots of stalls good butcher and fresh fish
J.
First visit since re-opening, great to see a thriving market back on the up. Catering for everyone with lots of modern/international food stalls but also basic simple food options for others. Would love to see a sushi bar and some more local artists/handicrafts/produce.
C. B.
Thai food places looked amazing. Florist also fab!
S.
Some trendy new stalls amidst more traditional. Great to see stuff you don't get in the big stores. Look out for the deli selling meats and cheese. Good places to eat too - makes the walk to the bottom of town worthwhile.
P. R.
A lot of places are closed or empty. Hopefully, it will improve.
N. W.
Thanks everyone ☺ 😘 💓 😊 💗
B. F.
The fish and fresh veg is excellent a bit too much cheap clothing and toy stalls for me personally
T. “. E.
Sad to see a lot of empty stalls but still lots to see and a variety of stalls.
t. g.
Nice place but not like it was in the 60s and the 70s when the market was always full.like there is know pet shops the atmosphere not there any more .we need to make it more attractive .
G. L.
Little thai cafe style eatery great Little place
t. s.
Great place, can usually find most things you need, and some lovely qwerki stands aswell. Great experience, i also had a baby with me, and the lovely lady let me sort the bottle out although she was closing for the day... Extremely helpful.
N. G.
Do not go by the pictures on their site. The market looks nothing like how the site describes it. The market appears derelict and broken. As if the world moved on around it and left this particular one standing on the side. Contrary to what you would expect, there were no public toilets in the market. At least none that we could find.
Most of the eating options had either shut down shop or were in the process of doing so when we arrived. However a shop called Kawaffle was open which I would HIGHLY recommend. The waffles were simply amazing and the ladies running the shop were extremely friendly and warm towards kids.
R. S.
Holds A lot of memories and will always be a big part of plymouths history. Great place for local businesses
K. P.
Enjoyed shopping in the market will definitely keep shopping there
D. S.
Good Atmosphere.Children loved Meeting Santa. And Making Lego.
M. L.
Lovely visit to the market today bought some lovely ham for Christmas and some lovely gifts for the family. Very friendly.
J. M.
Still great value for money. Friendly staff offering help, security staff offering directions if needed.
w. l.
A lovely Market with a great variety of products and food options. Very friendly atmosphere from all the vendors.
Great location and amazing business 👏
K. S.
It's changed since I lived there. A lot of units were closed. Nice to see the fresh fish counter still going strong. Worth a quick walk around though.
P. A.
Fantastic breakfast at Tasties Cafe upstairs
T. B.
Always love going to the market. Can stop for a chat with the stallholders and find a bargain. Get a decent low priced meal and just waste time window shopping.
a. w.
Good self service only a few tables in the place but u can check in and sit down to eat like most of there places just scan before you enter and find a table order ur food and wait for to be ready for u to pick up
A. K.
Nice little market with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The stalls are packed with great local products. The fruit and vegetables stall offers a wide range of British and import 'greenies'. Love wondering around the unique, handmade accessories, paintings, etc at the artists' stalls.. affordable prices, right in the city centre. Worth a visit! Or two :)
S. S.
There is something for everyone here, a much overlooked part of the town centre now Drakes circus is pulling visitors to the other side of town.
Traders are very friendly and always helpful, it's nice to see more small food stalls popping up with foods from different parts of the world.
Well worth your time to visit
S. E.
Very good easy access and easy access for disabled people to
D. W.
Wide range of vendors, competitive prices, good customer service. Some good places to stop for lunch. Particularly like Andy's butcher's and Petals flowers.
D. G.
Good market stalls in the pannier market. And the cafes up stairs good food and nice drinks. You have a choice of cafes but I rate them all very good. On the shopping side great place. And all sorts of stalls selling good stuff.
Q. 4.
Thai food freshly cooked is spot on.
M. H.
At the bottom end of Plymouth City centre, this us a little community of local shop owners trying to keep their businesses going. It's a great place to stroll through taking in the smells and local quirky stalls. Trades people are all very friendly and some of the food stalls are award winning. On this visit, I partaken in the Thai restaurant, the staff there work really hard to keep both quality and service top notch. No wonder they won a Plymouth Live award. If ever in the city centre...take a wonder.
A. A.
Alway's love having a gander around this place
They Alway's seem to have what you want there
S. P.
We went into the market cafe I would give 10 out of10
J. M.
So worth looking around as you never know what you'll find 👍
J. G.
Had my first Thai noodles here and the meal was so good I will be eating Thai food again. Top stuff.
G. D.
Clean,friendly and reasonably priced
K. S.
Lots of different stalls and fair prices. Easy to move around and very very clean and well maintained free toilet's. A few vacant stalls, but could be due to the virus lockdown . A good place to visit.
l. n.
Really enjoyed wandering around the market. Have been really impressed by some of the food stalls, definitely worth a visit if wanting to try something new away from the standard chain restaurants. I'm glad we have our market as brings back so many childhood memories, there's definitely a feeling it's only going to improve for businesses within.
J. B.
A hidden gem in Plymouth. Say no more, make sure to spend some time to explore or and enjoy the excellent food vendors.
P. W.
Very good market which is on the change.. Not happy because there are noodle bars that have totally no social distancing not Track and trace. Traditional stalls are disappearing which is sad but overall worth a visit.
M. M.
Clean, bright, warm and dry.Huge range of fantastic stalls selling all you could want and excels in fresh produce. The bonus being the awesome selection of world wide Street foods on offer. Definitely the place for lunch! Check out Soul Food Vendor and put some Soul in ya Belly!!
C. A.
It has all the feel of an outdoor summer fair market, but it's year-round and covered. Various sorts of stalls selling various sorts of items for rather low prices. There's a decent number of places selling food, as well. I always like to visit this place whenever I'm in Plymouth.
T. A.
Love the atmosphere of the indoor market. And you can go upstairs for something eat while your there and use the public toilets.
d. d.
A few of the stalls were shut but the ones that were open had plenty to choose from..clean and tidy..friendly staff/Stall holders....
S. K.
Its Ok. Only met someone for a coffee.
S. C.
Safety procedures were in place.
I was visiting AHF workwear at the time.
The products are reasonably priced and the people were very helpful and friendly.
R. C.
Had a lovely breakfast in Petes place. Tasty and at a good price. Coffee was nice too.
-.
Love The Market. It's changed over the years, in my view for the better. Now with most outlets accepting cards (check first)! It's always a great experience shopping here. Affordable cafés are situated on the top floor and some eating options downstairs, the market boasts a wealth of eating options, complete with two butchers shops, numerous sweet shops, key cutting services and work clothing (to merely name a few). It's a lovely old fashioned shopping centre, where sole traders can retail merchandise.
T. S.
It's OK. A lot of food on there but not a lot of different choices. More than enough Asian food. Pizza place looks nice, well set up. The bubble cones are not the best I've had and over priced in my opinion. Been to other places with more toppings buy cheaper priced.
As a whole the market is set out nice enough. Parking near by but its not free.
P. D.
The market has been there for many years . I do believe it was built after the Plymouth blitz. Like most of the city centre. It's gas a range of stalls from fruit and veg to meat and cakes. Clothes shoes and sweets. Foreign food bars and flowers a good selection of many things. Trade has declined a little as high streets suffer from lack of foot fall and investment . But if you come to the centre come and have a look. You never know you might see something you like.
D. E.
I enjoy walking around this market. Plenty of stall varieties
A. L.
Amazing place, you can literally get anything from here. You name it they've got it. Everyone who has stools can't do enough to help you and if you want a bargain at great quality this is definitely the place for you! So friendly everyone's so happy. If you get tired of walking around, no worries there's plenty of places in there where you can sit down have a drink some food and enjoy the benefits of being in Plymouth market. Beautiful place highly recommend it
A. B.
Had breakfast in the market was very nice
P. S.
Getting back to satisfactory. More stallholders needed
M. a. R. T.
Good, we were waiting for the grand daughter so popped in Macdonald's for a coffee. Helped out by a very helpful parking warden - there's a first for everything.
R. F.
Food good, wide range of stalls recommend a visit
S. M.
Twenty years ago, this is where everyone did their Saturday shop for vegetables, meat, fish etc. There are also several other stores here too. However, it seems quieter now and much more open than I remember. There has been a move towards supermarket shopping rather than individual stores. The market always feels a little cold and grubby. Still worth a walk through if you are in the area.
M. V.
Wide range of products, great prices. Today I've used Plymouth Inkjet.com service, and I would like to recommend him to everyone who has printer and needs great toners because he sells new ones but refills cartridges too. I use his service for years and I have saved lots of money already by following his advices!
C. N.
Good range of stalls very clean with everything you could want from a market.
A. C.
We have not visited the undercover market in years. Fresh crab, fudge, leather goods, railway models, watches, jewellery.....the list goes on. Plenty of choice for coffee and home made cakes too!
D. M.
Lots of amazing stalls. Loved the Thai food stall. Cheap price and delicious! Great little vinyl record stall where I burnt a few quid.
Very clean and tidy market and so much variety on offer. Loved it.
G. J. (.
This is a nice place to visit but unfortunately they have too many empty stands which is not their fault but the sign of the times. I have given them 4 out of 5 rating because for my taste there are too many food stands/cafes. The market is still a place worth visiting as they do have a few great clothes stores which offers good quality of products at fantastic prices. I do visit the market every time I come to the city centre.
J. E.
Was really surprised. First time in the market for 18months. Everyone friendly and covid awareness. Did mot feel at all anxious.
R. K.
Always in interesting visit, though sad to see so many empty stalls. There are still many quirky and fascinating stalls selling a variety of specialist supplies and pre-loved items. I especially liked the model shop with model railway vehicles and buildings
C.
Bought and collected an engaged glass for a family birthday at Coronet Engravers. Amazing quality for a special birthday!
N. H.
Plenty of stalls. Very large market such variety of products to buy. Well worth a visit.
C. D.
Found what i was looking for but a lot of empty stalls at the moment (due to pandemic I suppose).
P. T.
Very clean, loads of stuff to choose from, had breakfast in Tasties Cafe, very nice.
J. R.
Lots of good, small market stalls here. You will probably be able to find what you want if you come looking here. Most of the stall owners are very friendly and will be willing to help you with any queries. As well as stalls selling your traditional items, such as clothing and bags, there are also many nice food stalls here, selling things from noodles to pick and mix
S. C.
I go here to get roast suplies. As there is a Good butchers here. Great selection of vegetables .
D. T.
Couple of pawn shops but place seems ok. Has a decent comic shop Final Frontier along with a few restaurants.
G. R.
A nice but dated market with a good variety of stalls. From a disabled wheelchair users point of view it is easily accessible with good disabled parking to the rear of the market. Stalls are spread apart so easy access to them all.
C. G.
Today the market was celebrating the completion of a £4 million redevelopment. Great fun with loads of attractions inside and out. They should do this sort of thing more often. Plenty of food outlets as well as a brilliant greengrocer, dress shops, jewellers, and much more.
S. B.
Great day i love shopping lol
S. F. (.
Nice place plenty of space variety is untold brilliant
J. M.
Don't come here thinking it's going to be Camden or Greenwich market. It's a good market though for a lovely butchers, habidashary, veg stall, and the roof is a nice shape which is always important for a post war market.
M. O.
Great shopping arena, brought some beautiful cheese, ham, beef and sausage.Fresh produce and great service
t. D.
We love the market, supporting independent traders, fresh local food is better than many tasteless supermarket alternatives.
I am disabled and find it easier to get around the market than supermarkets. There is always somewhere to sit and rest when I can no longer walk, or rest and have a cuppa.
I can't do this in the supermarkets
K. D.
Pannier Market is great. Good food and good stalls.
V. E.
Irene's cafe was very good on the upstairs balcony.
G. d. M.
Market looks good as it becomes more alive. Visited Mr Joe Brown, good to see he is still smiling and providing the same awesome service.
M. D.
Classy little spot, loads of top food to be had
s. p.
I enjoy a good browse around this market, so many stalls with a wide range of goods. In particular I love the womans clothing stalls as the prices are very reasonable and can get larger sizes. There are lavatories to use after a stop at one of two cafes I think. Stall holders are friendly too.
K. T.
Still good with some great stalls. Great Thai food for lunch, superb and very helpful fishmonger and a new olive, tapas and antipasti seller with an excellent selection of olives. Use it or lose it!
L.
Ageless but adapting to current needs-great stalls with huge selection n mix. Cheerful customer service too. Found books I've been searching for ages at the Book Stall and at amazing price..better than any Web based shop!
D. G. (.
I haven't visited the market for some time and had excellent Pub Grub food after shopping on the 1st floor.! I visited the market to buy some excellent products from a shop called Pull The Trigger. I like my Target Shooting and with extremely helpful staff they sold me products that really did serve purpose as intended. I shall continue to use this excellent service that they provide. Very happy with my visit.
J. F.
A very nice big shopping centre
D. S.
The market used to be the place to get items of all kinds, unfortunately a lot of stalls have closed up. However this is opening the doors to become a great hot spot for eateries from around the world. It just feels a little baron walking around.
A. R.
Really impressed. This part of town used to be awful. I much prefer it these days. Food is excellent
P. B.
Lots of choices everything is well worth a look around, fudge shop is amazing great quality even happy to prepare orders while you shop about.
The only suggestion is avoid tea and buns. Given the choice of death or eating there again, start engraving my head stone now.
A. B.
Good stalls inside
A. k.
Local stores and everyone is friendly in there the best place to support your local businesses in Plymouth
O. B.
Glad we still have a market-type building here. So many cool things to see here.
S. J.
What a change from the 70's !! Even from 5 yrs ago all has changed. What used to be a market full of traders has, like so many high Street shop, succumbed to the Internet / Plaza shoppers. With only a few old style stallholders remaining. However, all is not lost, evolution,... in their place is now a wide variety of international food outlets. Times change, you change with it or you fall by the wayside. They appear to be giving a totally different eating experience to that found in Drakes Circus,.. where it is Shop, Serve Fast, Eat Fast, Shop Some More.
Good Luck to the Market Vendors I hope they thrive & in turn revive the lower end of town.
E. T.
Lots of options of shops but smells like raw meat
R. F.
Always nice to wander around ...toilets were clean too and plenty if covid precautions in place
K. P.
Mainly all shoes and clothes not the greatest quality. The fruit and veg stalls are ok. Could make it look more appealing and open the upper floor instead if all scaffolding. Good has they have free toilets and various entrys but does look very run down.
M. K.
Got a great pumpkin here for Halloween from the florists on the Cornwall street side. Useful selection of stalls inside from phone repairs to fruit and veg.
j.
Always get my craft stuff from the stalls in the market. The stall owners are always friendly and willing to help.
J. R. S.
When I was small my mother took me to the market at the top of Plymouth ( bomb site ) and saw the new market being built. New, it was brillant! But it's sad to say, it's just a shadow of what it used to be. When I am home on holiday I always try to buy something here to support the market. It's a part of my life.
D. G.
The Devon Burger Bar (Devon cheese bar) is what makes the market great and derserve 5 stars. Tea and bun is also the shizzle.
B. R.
Great market, for all your needs, practically sell everthing you could need between the stalls. unusual sized batteries, local fresh produce, hobbies, pet supplies, clothing, cakes and pastry. cafe and seating. Pilgrims pasty is always my point of call whithin the market, but plenty of other on the the go snacks to choose from whilst exploring the city center.
A. N.
So much variety! Lots of things to buy, food is just as good, if not better than a lot of restaurants around
R. T.
This is the old part of town but so quaint.
R. R.
Ok nothing changes in there but more coffee shops and food outlets. It ain't the same old pannier market.
S. T.
I do wish there was more small little stalls but over all great place and brings back memories
S. H.
Lovely recently refurbished market...typical fruit and veg stalls but clothes stalls, eateries upstairs but also downstairs including an independent pizza stall. Petals florest offer wonderful flower arrangements amongst the many stalls selling anything from sweets to Gothic ornaments and pictures. A vapour stall is set up next to the ever popular noodles bar. Bakeries and a newsagent tops this market off.
A. S.
Nice area to be in, friendly people and the market is a nice place to be, very big and have lots of options
j. m.
Love the market. Try to support it as much as possible. It's different with not so many interesting stalls but those stall holders are a lovely, friendly bunch.
M. B.
It's a market it is what is bit it has a few empty stalls at the moment
S. S.
Decent little market with local fruit and veg stall, a local butchers aswell as clothing stands, fresh chinese/thai food cooked in front of you and a few others, including a jewellery shop.

C. E.
Me and mum Like The market. Theres some Good stalls That sell Good stuff in There. Ive missed eating in The cafes upstairs
S.
Some trendy new stalls amidst more traditional. Great to see stuff you don't get in the big stores. Look out for the deli selling meats and cheese. Good places to eat too - makes the walk to the bottom of town worthwhile.
N. G.
Do not go by the pictures on their site. The market looks nothing like how the site describes it. The market appears derelict and broken. As if the world moved on around it and left this particular one standing on the side. Contrary to what …
K. K.
Fresh vegetables and fruits
M. H.
At the bottom end of Plymouth City centre, this us a little community of local shop owners trying to keep their businesses going. It's a great place to stroll through taking in the smells and local quirky stalls. Trades people are all very …

R. P.
Wish we had more time to look at all the stalls. Cafe upstairs was good.
J. B.
Plenty to see and buy in a spacious covered and newly refurbished space. Excellent disabled access for each of the 3 entrances / exits. However the cafe upstairs has no access for a wheelchair user that I know of.
J. T.
Great little market in Plymouth's "West End" where you can get away from all the big, bland chains that dominate the rest of the city centre. A mix of independent traders selling bakery products, sweets, leather goods, mobile phone accessories, fruit and veg...lots! One of the few bits of Plymouth centre with character.
J. O.
Our local market plenty of shops all different variety of shops from butchers to diners disabled toilets also available.
p. t.
Well stocked, super helpful staff
S. S.
After a huge revamp. It is a shame there are still many empty stalls. The stall holders we have provide excellent produce and variety of goods. !!!
Please support our market!!
L. C.
Good local market, great local produce & good variety of stores - friendly staff.
J. C.
As long as the stalls stay open the market is a great place to pick up an awful lot of stuff at very affordable prices, everyone marches off to our mall (which is great is you want everything at a premium) but the market is a great place to shop.
m. t.
Went to the deli counter and the service was fab. As was the staff at Joe browns fruit and veg. As always market was clean and tidy and the people that work within were happy to say hello and very helpful
S. J. C.
Always pleased to be of assistance.
J. K.
Ocean city aromas. Sarah was very helpful helping me pick gifts for my wife.
P. E.
Plymouth Market has been getting better and better over recent years with a good mix of food stalls and products. The cafés are cheap and cheerful and recent refurbishment has worked well. Always worth popping in for a look.
C. E.
Me and mum Like The market. Theres some Good stalls That sell Good stuff in There. Ive missed eating in The cafes upstairs
C. L.
I mean it's the market innit. They sell overpriced junk you probably don't need, but have some cheap food there.
p. m.
I took my grandchildren to the market for breakfast. They picked Appolo cafe.
The lady who served us was very friendly, and our breakfast was excellent
S. M.

D. S.
Love the indoor market. During lockdown, we've had fresh products delivered to our home. Mr C Tapp, delicatessen has amazing, delicious pies, sausages. Help our local businesses during this time. Checkout this deli.
T. A.
Lovely old fashioned indoor market with some great stalls to browse around plus plenty of places to eat, especially on the higher level all at great prices for what you get.
Stalls include clothing & nightware, footwear, cakes & pasty's, freshly made pizza, cheese, greengrocer's, fresh meats, DVD's & music, handbags & luggage to name a few, there are also public conveniences for ladies & gentleman plus disabled ones.
M. W.

Haven't been to the market for years. Still lots of great stalls. Lots of choice.
J. B.
Love going to this market, well laid out for covid. You can always find things you can't get in the big shops. People are helpful and friendly.
L. W.
Not too bad but a lot of vacant stalls
G. S.
Normal very good all round place but a lot of stalls shut due to lock down will b better when we get back to normal
B. G.
Brilliant market with lots of great small businesses. So many great food choices!
B. W.
It's slowly becoming the shopping hub it was a few years ago. However the disabled toilets were designed by a non wheelchair user. It could not be worse designed if they tried. Getting in and out is really difficult.
D. P.
Great place for little cafes and all the stalls selling very day items
A. D.
Not as lovely as other English markets but you have most of the things you need. Including the best fishmonger in town (by a mile), some very helpful butchers and a nice second hand bookshop.
Z. D.
Today, I visited Kawaffle for a delicious Lolly Waffle, The Nut House and bought fantastic Pomegranate and Pistachio Turkish Delight, Sunny Sweets for Dutch Liqorice and finally City Fabrics for fleece and also satin fabric. Where else can you get this variety under one roof! Always happy to support local small businesses and get proper service with a smile! Thank you.
L. D.
Great I door market selling all sorts and great food
S. G.
It's not the market I remember when I was a boy
m. h.
Love this market always cheerful people and helpful staff my husband got great work boots.
S. B.
Great stalls, unfortunately most closed now but fruit and veg, fish plus meat and dairy still operating.
J. K.

J. W.
Too many empty stalls in it now jewellery repairs still there and a phone repair shop which I wanted both services
H. L.
Great place to pop in with old friends and have a cuppa, a bite to eat, and pick up a few essentials like rump steak, baking potatoes and a veg or two. Friendly and affordable.
M. G.
Market shopping is brilliant get what you want have a meal shop your in door s good service . well I love it and my Grandmother did used to work there in the late 70es and the 80es .
B. W.
'Old School' indoor market situated in the middle of Plymouth's independent quarter, it's just before mid day on a Friday, was surprised how quiet it was, Covid19 restrictions in operation, I felt totally relaxed. This market has some REAL gems amongst it's many stalls, this is the modern version of OLD PLYMOUTHS 'Tin Pan Alley's.
N. C.
A proper pannier market. With a huge range of eateries. Lots of East Asian street food stalls. A top wet fishmonger's. And lots more.
D. A.
Everything under one roof, including convenient cafes.Fresh fish, meat and vegetables, pies, pasties and just about anything you could want at quite reasonable prices. 15 minutes free parking around the market and close to the new coach station and all bus stops, 10 minute walk to the rail station.
J. H.
Nice clean indoor market with unstairs food hall, clean toilets too
M. K.
Always good to walk around and see what's going on and see the retailers cheerfully going about their normal business.
V. P.

I went to Plymouth Market and bought a double plug, gaffer tape, string, a figurine of an Apache Indian sitting on a Dolphin, a One Direction ruck sack and some Hi Viz overalls. That was all my Christmas shopping done in one go! Who needs Amazon!
c. m.
Only went to the market for the wife to visit our favourite deli, as it's the only place we can get beef sausages.
I. S.
A the moment life is quiet inside because of Covid.
Most stalls are open and are glad to be there.
C. L.
Some excellent stalls in the Market. Well worth a visit and support local independent people.
Also eating places excellent.
Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
M. H. S.
Friendly, clean and well organized stalls. Recommended place to buy and repair cheaper stuffs.
A. M.
Getting a bit foodie lately. I really like the hot food stalls. I think Plymouth could do with more of the same. Wish the place opened later so we could go for dinner as well as lunch.
D. W.
Plymouth market is a wonderful place to shop. Such a variety and the people are helpful and friendly. Great choice of food stalls too. Highly recommended.

B. R.
Plymouth market. A marvelous place, one might say the epicentre of Plymouth community. The humans are welcoming. The foods are appetising, the clothes are warming. What more can one ask for when venturing into a new market in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
G. C.
Indoor market with an interesting variety of stalls and eating places. Masks to be worn inside.
P. G.
A good place to shop and browse. Plenty of places to eat, who cater for all tastes, local and international. Enjoyed our visit 😊.

C. D. P.
Lots of interesting stalls. I tend to go there for work uniforms as good quality and they will order in your size if they dont have to in stock.

C. N.
Good choice of produce and stalls and competitive prices
D. L.
In the middle of a 3 million pound refit Plymouth City Market shows lots of promise. Quite a lot of empty stalls at the moment but still full of a large variety of choices for shoppers.
J. G.
Julie wax melts stall is fab. Amazing melts and good value for money.
J. E.
Great place to visit and grab something to eat.
J. B.
Like something from an episode of eastenders, the Plymouth Market is a hidden treasure trove of amazing produce, from fresh crab, through to vapes and rare popculture, locals and visitors should plan to take their time and enjoy the bustling culture.
A. P.
Helpful staff in the stalls I use. Plenty of selection and variety. Always go there as aposed to the Mal. Really rate Martins butchers or the fruit fruit and veg stall.
A. J.
Plymouth Market is a permanent covered market with a variety of separate internal units selling everything from fruit and veg to models via second hand books.
Each stall is independent and deserves your support, if you're in Plymouth Town Centre get your arse out of Drake shopping centre with its chain of shops you can find on any High Street and take a walk around the market
R. S.
Used to be great but recent years has seen a decline in trader's as sad fact of the times. But that whole end of the town is in decline since the arrival of Drake Circus. Still worth a look though
O. L.
People of Plymouth should support this market instead of using supermarkets Fresh products
T. P.
Had a battery replaced at the engravers. Excellent service and value for money. Only £5, half the price of a well known high Street key cutters.
D. s.
Improved lots over the years
G. W.
Essential food stalls open were so helpful and friendly.....and the monkfish was great, thanks Market Plaice
M. B.
Great People, Great Prices, check out the cafes at the top - classics, the thai food in the middle of market is awesome, the fishmongers and butchers and greengrocers and pastymakers all rock and are genuine nice local people. The refit is making it look so good its really bright and cool in the bit they have finished. Support local Plymouth people! Save Money! visit Plymouth (Pannier) Market! This is the Polar Opposite of Drakes Circus Shopping Centre, real shops and stalls, real intimate chats with people who remember you and are pleased to see you, real local food and produce. Ideal. Proper Job.

Plymouth Market. Cornwall St, Plymouth PL1 1PS
Sometimes known as The Pannier Market. So called after the straddled baskets used to carry goods on horseback.
Dated in its 70's decor. Unfortunately at the lower end of the Central Plymouth shopping district. Away from most of the foot fall traffic.
The market itself is bustling with unusual bookstalls, fabric stalls. Fast and ethnic food vendors and an excellent fish monger and several butchers. New or Secondhand clothing. Knitting and sewing supplies. Printer inks, CD music & curios or knick-knacks. Vapour vendors and DVD and Blu-ray Video sellers. All mixed up together in covered rows and alleys. A delightful mix of new and old, modern and vintage vendors.
M. H.
This is a brilliant place to pick up some amazing deals at super prices! There is something for everyone here from fruit and veg to books and fabric stalls, I would highly recommend having a look around!
J. B.
Great old fashioned Market house, Up on the mezzanine floor at one end is about 5 or 6 Cafe's doing the sort of dinners your mum used to make all at amazing prices and the food is grrrrrreat

The store is ideally, so the location was my first reason. There are a number of other stores available, but the customer service was a good reason to keep going to there

Always visit when I am in Plymouth, which doesn't happen that often. The number of stalls selling items has reduced and the number selling food has increased and so has the variety of food.
J. B.
All store holders very friendly and welcoming
S. B.
Get all your household items at moderate prices here
M.
