Reviews of Asda Lower Earley Supercentre
D. A.
This branch of Asda is fairly big and it has most of your home essentials. It has big fresh produce section with a lot of vegetable 🥦 and fruits 🍉, It has a huge frozen section ❄️,and it has a world food section with imported food like spices and other items that are not easily found is shops here in the uk.
However one of the main downside of this place is that it’s a not that organised.
Overall it’s the perfect place to shop if you’re vegan, gluten-free or have any other dietary problems because it has a lot of options to choose from and nice selections🌱

My mum has dementia and I took her to Asda today in the ‘quiet hour’. I can honestly say it was the best and I do mean the best I’ve ever experienced shopping in a supermarket for my whole life. Even my mum said how much she enjoyed it. I need to say the young lady on the take away counter should be given a salary rise immediately. Helpful, courteous, and friendly. Please send my thanks to her. My mum said what a lovely lady she was too. Well done Asda for introducing this fantastic idea for vulnerable people.

The store is not cramped and very clean even in the busiest times. The shelves are mostly stocked up and the prices are great. Great range of smaller shops within the centre. There is also ample family parking and very rare to not find a parking. Trollies can be a challange from time to time though.
G. G.
I have been shopping from here since last year. One stop supermarket for all essential needs. Ample car parking available. The building has some other retail outlets including a Post Office - very useful. Asda is value for money, so totally recommend this place. Place also has a recycling drop off point. Another plus is the volume of Asian food items available here compared to some other super markets.
N. G.
Asda Lower Earley branch has excellent option for the shoppers, large parking space, pharmacy , petrol station and has many other facilities like a post office, shoe zone and automated click and collect. It is most convenient place around Lower Earley and West Reading for the weekly shop.
K. G.
Well stocked. Not many on tills so ques longs on a Saturday morning. Staff nice. Dates on food where long .
S. B.
Love this Asda! It's the furthest major supermarket from me but always make it my first stop.
Usually has my items in stock, staff always happy to get things down from high shelving if sold out on shelves and really good prices.
Beats Lidl and Aldi for me!
l. S.
A big supercenter in Reading. Various selections of vegetables, foods, household & clothes.
P. A.
Great range of clothing and kitchenware. Good selection of fresh and frozen food. Covid mask monitoring pretty good. Social distancing doesn't appear to be policed (to be fair, it is a very big store.) Often too many people in store at a time. TESCO only allow so many in the store at once and make people queue to get in. I think ASDA have a problem here, but having two external entrances certainly doesn't help! *Just noticed CCTV face scanning! Is that legal?!?*
A. M.
Only went for a birthday card and some ale, they had both so can't really complain.
B. F.
Its a big Asda if that's yer thing, fill you boots. Own cafe rather than McD's (if thats your thing! )
K. T.
Great place to shop 24 hour opening, friendly staff and shelves always seem to be full!
Free parking and petrol station.
M. A.
Always has the stock, customer services & Workers are okay, Would gave a 5 star but the trollys are quite bad and may require some attention whenever I come there, the trolleys seems to play up, whereas the wheels swift around, and really hard to control.
M. H.
Needed to buy a mobile for my son. Not well signed. Also took a while to have a supervisor get the phone before I could be served at the cashier. Was better when they had separate sales staff for entertainment and electric goods
S. V. N.
Being a superstore, it has everything you need from food, home leisure, clothing, take aways and more. Lots of free parking space for 3 hrs at a time as cameras are in place to control unwanted parking. There is also a 24/7 Petrol station with 4 petrol/diesel card pumps. Other pumps are open at different times due to covid but should change soon.
L. M.
The Asda staff member on the click and collect is a credit to the company.
Unsure of his name but he is normally on Sunday mornings when I collect between 10-11am. Very helpful and alway happy to help. Definitely deserves recognition for his hard work.
J. A.
Good range of products. Pretty standard supermarket. Don't expect staff to be purticularly helpful though. Also has a post office, pharmacy, opticians, estate agents, cafe and shoezone
J. H.
Went to store this evening at around 6.30pm. The queues were relatively short and well managed. Once in store, shelves were well stocked, but noticed people in family groups with partners or children making it difficult to adhere to social distancing rules. Is this necessary??
Went to checkout to unload my trolley and operator was very rude telling me to wait repeatedly with no explanation (she has been am of staff for many years and her attitude not great). I'm very aware of social distancing rules so went to a different till where operator had no issues at all.
I am an NHS worker and do my main shopping at Sainsbury's in Winnersh during their key worker slots, which is a totally different experience being professional and enjoyable.
P. W.
Polite staff- friendly atmosphere, good variety of shops
S. B.
Vast choice of groceries. There is section dedicated to clothing, towels (great quality at a low price).. numerous self checkout tills, toilet rooms etc.
S. L.
I love this place, i may even have a problem as I visit at least 4 times on the weekend. It has loads of parking around the store.
The store itself has a wide selection of products , with the seasonal aisle offering a selection of novelty items. They have a good selection of deals and offers a mix from clothes , food and other such items.
The one oddity i have noticed recently is the tagging of the shopping baskets. I can only assume this is due to people treating that baskets as a free home delivery system.
There is a mixture of manned to self check out. I am particularly fond of the self check out.
The staff are great always ready to help and great in a crisis.
Asda has changed recently from offering a 24 hours but has not effected anything.
S. C.
Visited the cafe today for lunch had a half and half pizza as I couldn't decide which variety to have . The food was superb and excellent value at £7 for a full size pizza freshly prepared and served quickly it was delicious. All the colleagues were friendly and efficient unfortunately I'm not local otherwise I would be a regular visitor
B. L.
Busy store with little social distancing being enforced. I went for baby clothes but they seem to stock very little in the way of gender neutral or boys clothes - plenty of things for girls though.
A. A.
I came today for small shoppings hopping i will find basic products knowing that previous days the shelves with loads products were empty . I was surprised tho that i found more than i expected. Really good job Asda .
P. R.
Ok, so the store is great. Low prices and reasonably clean in the store and the staff are friendly and helpful.
This review is more for the Café: I come here a lot. The food and drinks are good basic fare. My issue is with the hour by hour management... At least twice a week I have to ask staff to clean up the coffee and tea machines area. At the time of writing the place looks like a bomb has hit it. C'mon people! You're not very busy, so clean up! Please?
Asda management: you need to include regular checks in the café to your store rounds... If you do already, they're ineffective.
H. R.
Went to the cafe for a bit of breakfast, really speedy service, they sorted a really good veggie breakfast even though it wasn’t on the menu. Food was yummy. Asked for tap water and condiments and the staff were so quick and helpful even asking if we wanted another glass after he saw there were two of us. Also kids lunch box really good price
M. E.
ASDA claim to be the cheapest of the big four UK supermarkets, but they have all sorts of crafty ways of ripping you off, e.g.:
1) You get a 5% off card as a perk of your job and wait until you need about £100 worth of shopping to maximise the benefit. You get to the checkout and find the card isn't accepted because it hasn't been ACTIVATED, so you have to pay full price on your £100 shop. Cards for rival retailers just need a one working day lapse for processing, no activation required.
2) Smart Price (cheap, budget-line) items often aren't on the shelves, especially bread, so you have to pay double for the premium brand equivalent.
3) ASDA claim to sell the cheapest petrol in Britain at their 24-hour filling stations. I fill up at various stations of various brands all over the country and sometimes on the continent, ASDA Earley, Reading is the only one that is regularly not working, out of fuel, or not accepting cards, so you have to buy expensive petrol elsewhere, especially as your tank was low, as you hoped to make a decent saving from their cheaper fuel.
4) ASDA, Earley, Reading opens at 6am on Saturdays, I have no problem with that, but why doesn't the cafe open until 8am? Surely, not many people take 2h to do shopping? I expect most people who shop at 6am haven't had breakfast yet, so it'd be nice if the cafe opened at 7 or 7:30am.
5) The store is dimly lit before 8am: Health & Safety? It must be awful for the workers: headaches? Eyesight problems?
M. C.
Shelves were well stocked with good variety and choice of fresh food at reasonable price. I completed my shopping within half hour and rushed to get my petrol but found station closed due to refurbishment.
Overall a good experience.
P. T.
This is a large store and a large selection of produce. Always found the staff very helpful. Plenty of free parking. Cash machines. Toilets. There are a lot of tills both self service and assisted never found the queues over long.
M. R.
Very good store, can get busy on the weekends ! I could say its one of the better ASDA's around. Just go in with your trolley and out with many goods at reasonable prices ! Location is good and petrol is cheapest in the area ! Boots and Shoezone along with Supercuts are in the same complex, with the leisure complex right next to the store. Go ahead and enjoy your shopping here !
R. w.
New cafe make over is nice.....however food on the menu is all fast processed.....so limited fresh options.....coffee is via a self service machine which unfortunately only dispenses luke warm drinks that are cold by the time you get seated.... Infrastructure is all good and clean with modest prices but it wasn't a very satisfying experience for us on the day we visited....particularly if you just want a light fresh snack and a decent (hot) coffee.... The menu and coffee machines could now do with a make over.....
N. H. (.
Personally find it fine. Has everything you want and good prices. Usually pretty busy inside but plenty of parking. Can't really fault it but can't go 5 stars as it's not exactly the easiest shopping experience due to weight of people.
P. G.
Lovely staff, awful signage
I phoned to check that what I wanted was in and the assistants couldn't have been more helpful, but having never been to the store before and approaching it in darkness with no direction signs illuminated I circled around outside the car park once, finding no entrance. Second time round I had to take any gap I could find and make it my entrance. The exit signs were similarly invisible at night, with interesting consequences.
H. G.
TLDR: Great when quiet but hellish and stressful at peak times. Overall not a pleasant shopping experience.
Has a petrol station, travel agents, cafe, pharmacy and newsagents among other things.
Plenty of car-parking, but CCTV doesn't cover the entire carpark (have had expensive damage to car bodywork in the car park).
Parcel pick up is done via computer in the foyer- 50/50 as to whether it's working but staff get it sorted quickly.
Aisles don't seem big enough to accommodate the amount of people- you can be physically pushed along an aisle without actually moving.
Stocking seems to be an issue here- often many things are out of stock to the point where all the alternatives are also out of stock. Click and collect groceries tend to be unreliable if you've chosen a late slot to pick them up as some of the staff leave before the slots are completed.
J. M.
Certain fresh Asian items are old and stale. But otherwise standard. Very helpful staff. Fuel garage as well with competitive price. There is a cafe, 2 pharmacies, and lots of other shops.
O. M.
Good parking, almost everything you need from a supermarket + pharmacy and some other shops, scan and go, nice and helpful staff, low to affordable prices . Even the delivery service and staff are nice
R. G.
Dear me I coming here from Madinhead for the loo rolls but mission failed. Empty shelfs. I still not understanding why populations stockpiling the loo rolls. Cornervirus impacting nose and breathing isnt it like flu isnt it - not the bottoms. What to do now? I trying again other malls tomorrow.
L. H.
Not sure why there are comments about rude staff on here. I've been going to this Asda for about a year now (a few times a week) and I have never come across grumpy/rude staff.. Everyone is really friendly :)
Only bad bit is it can get pretty busy in peak times, but nothing can be done about this, it's popular - get over it!
K. S.
Good customer service. Polite and helpful. They clean the tables regularly, but lunch time they need more staff to do this as it gets very busy. I love going in there as the staff don't hurry you out when you have finished your coffee
k. w.
My preferred superstore in Reading. Lots of free parking, 24 hours open, good selection, reasonable prices, pharmacy, boots, hairdresser, cafe, newsagent and post office. It also has the cheapest diesel/petrol in town.
C. H.
One off shop today looking for specific item cheapest in town. Surprised that this store had some bare shelves of staple groceries. Store feels claustrophobic and assistant unhelpful...just underpins why Asda is my last choice for anything related to shopping! Won't be going back....
D. F.
It's OK, I guess. However they have little or no organic produce and the post office staff are always in a rush to serve you and aren't very polite. However, some of the smaller shops in the complex are quite good.
D. C.
Good store, prices good and staff have always been friendly. Only critism it can be hard to get someone to serve you if you go in early and i don't like selfservice..
M. D.
Conveniently located in Lower Earley between East Reading and Wokingham. Free parking, cheap petrol station, some shops inside (Martins, Post office, Shoe Zone, Boots). Definitely crowded on Sundays, but open 24 hours on weekdays. More shops (M&S and Iceland) and food (Dominos, McDonald's and Toby Carvery) opposite the entrance roundabout.
B. C.
Cheap, good range of products.
Staff are helpful.
Downside is the fact that it's very busy in the weekend and sometimes the staff stock up making it even more crowded.
F. K.
Great place for shopping can do all kind of shopping here very clean store very high hygiene standards because of covid 19 I been to other store but it's one of the best shopping experience I had in this store.
A. S.
Service has got much better and with the recent revamp and addition of SUSHI bar, nw GREGS and Cafe really adds a good valur to the overall experience.
g. h.
Although I live ten miles away, whenever i am in Reading I take the opportunity to shop at Asda Lower Earley, nothing to do with price, it is simply that whether the checkout staff are old, young, male or female, they are unfailingly polite, helpful and in some cases utterly charming !
Today Shagufta pointed out how I could save money by buying a bigger pack, so I ended buying two !
Keep up the good work of what I presume is good recruitment and good training
Geoff hatton
N. R.
(Lower earley)Staff are always friendly & helpful but this particular day i was helped by a young lady named jordan from the chilled side, so polite & very helpful.credit to asda
Shelves could do with a bit more tlc but overall a good shopping experience
S.
Good at xchanging items when you take them back but they're not open 24 hours as advertised and when you go to the check out when the fags are you have to be 25 to buy anything then that's just s*** even if u buy a 12 year old film
D. J.
Really impressed by the robustness of the cycle rack construction. This store is well hidden and you won't find it by chance.
P. A.
The best local convenience store in the area, better range of stock than Morissons, never had a problem with any of the staff and at busy times always plenty of checkouts open unlike Lidl.
F. M.
Big Superstore. Anything and everything you need. Open till late. People complaining should either goto oracle or Westfield. I've always found everything I needed. Staff is helpful. Store is clean.
h.
Cafe is allright its like every other cafe in suoermarkets 'okay' prices are actualy a good deal wide selcetion of food drinks and veg great and body care stuff is at a resonable price to must come better than tescos or sainsbury
A. A.
My favourite store. You can find nearly everything you’re looking for. There is a cafe within the centre,a pharmacy, haircut Saloon, post office and much more.
B. A.
Went especially to buy the cheese advent calendar. They had all sold out within 2hours on the first day in store. A member of staff told me they are trying to get more in but they don't know when that will be....
K. M.
Friendly staff, great range of products. Always plenty of space for parking .
O.
Big shop, kind staff and good prices for products but the cafe food is terrible. The coffee and the hot chocolate is really bad.
M. W.
Compared with Asda in Franborough, this store looks so upmarket. Very clean and well laid out. Huge range of products.
E. P.
Wide choice and there's occasionally bargains to be had. The hours changed, which I can understand but it stops our late night excursions.
N. M.
Good store found what I was looking for very easily.
Much more space to walk into the entrance than the Cambridge Asda store which is terrible in this respect.
J. A.
What's to say..its Asda superstore..it has loads of clothes..home items..bedding..
J. G.
Great place better now but please can you get kenco 3_1strips your other asda has them so really no excuse

As far as Asdas go it isn't the best and feels a little do Dark although it has all the goods, services and trimmings of an assault store.

Friendly staff.sometimes looks like the place has been burgled.Lack of stock at busy times.
S. K.
Well stocked Asda. Some aisles look a little untidy. Also a petrol station on site.
