Wanted to say thank you to Alexandra for a brilliant selection of men's clothing. After two years of lockdown when the only clothes I seem to have bought were a couple of fleeces, I was in the market for a new shirt and jacket. Unfortunately Bishop's Stortford is not well served for original quality menswear. Or so I thought until I walked through the door of the store in Wind Hill. I could have bought at least five shirts that took my fancy and each one with a matching jacket (perhaps I will next time). Alexandra has the skill of communicating her wide knowledge of her range and the big plus is that all the clothing is made from natural fibres, nothing artificial at all. I am heartened to know that I do not now have to travel to the West End (and pay West End prices) to be ahead of the fashion and will certainly be returning to Alexandra's where the quality items are sensibly priced and the customer care is first-rate. Perfection! Alexandra tailored the three piece wedding suit and tailored shirts for me and my best man. From the beginning, we were made to feel comfortable, welcome and relaxed, unlike in some tailors. Alexandra was patient, polite and understood what we were looking for without overwhelming or complicating things for us. She is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. The quality of the material and the fit was unlike anything I had worn before and I felt the best I had ever felt in a set of clothes, which was very important on my wedding day. Came to Alexandra's BS store on a recommendation from a family friend. I wanted the Savill Rowe experience without the bother of commuting into the City. The store is stylish and Alexandra put me at ease straight away and... made me feel special. I wanted a M2M wedding tuxedo that would make me look like James Bond on my big day and I wanted the unique experience of going to a tailor and receiving the special treatment. Every appointment was great. Alexandra was warm, inviting and clearly has a very keen eye for detail. My suit was immaculate, fitted like a glove and I'm pretty sure I can say I almost upstaged the bride. Almost. I got so many compliments on the suit and can't wait to wear it again. Definitely not what I was looking for. Then I discovered Alexanra. Her website was clean, fresh and modern. The suit that Alex made for me was my first 'made to measure' experience and thanks to her I now have a flavour for it. Our first meeting was to decide on fabric and style. Alex has a knack of knowing what you want before you do. She can recognise in your body shape and personal style what is missing and then gently coax you over any small barriers to pattern and colour that you might have gone into the consultation with. The first fitting dispelled any doubt I might have had about 'our' choices. And with just a few minor alterations needed, I now own the most comfortable and smart piece of clothing I've ever worn. I have a lovely well-fitting charcoal suit by Alexandra which I've been wearing at every opportunity over the last year. She has a wonderful charming and calm demeanour, explaining everything and answering questions as she measures you up in a comfortable environment. She has a whole range of colours and styles for both the external and the lining of the suit, and has an eye for which suit you best. Previous suits I'd bought 'off the shelf' had often worn or become tatty but this still looks new. Extremely friendly and reliable, I will definitely be returning for my next suit.

I had been looking for a coat for over a year. Not satisfied with what I could find off the shelf, I turned to Alexandra. She managed to capture exactly what it was I was after and provided a coat with a wonderful fabric, expertly made that just shines with quality. Normally I get one or two comments at work for any new piece of clothing I buy, this coat gets complimented every single time I wear it. While visiting her amazing shop for coat fittings, I also purchased two great ties and a brilliantly cut white shirt. I found a tiny defect on the shirt collar, which was a shame, but Alexandra swapped it for a brand new one immediately with no questions asked. Alexandra works hard, she knows what she is doing and you will not be disappointed having something made by her. Her colleagues in the shop are marvellously attentive, charming and professional. I'm saving up for a suit, and cannot wait to return!

I’ve just purchased my third and fourth pair of Alex’s fantastic lightweight jeans. My other two pairs have been such a constant companion this year it was time to mix it up a bit! I’ve worn these jeans in all settings from the office to gardening and even on the Orient Express (Pre lockdown one). They have been adaptable, exceptionally light and great to transition from day time to evening. I generally hate buying clothes and jeans in particular but Alex makes the whole experience stress free by giving you time to browse, explains her ranges and simply sorting any adjustments that are necessary. In the year that 2020 has been it was also great to get back into a welcoming and familiar setting of the shop in Bishops Stortford. I ended up leaving with a few other items in addition to my jeans!

Superb service and suit to match. After much searching for my wedding suit I came across Alexandra Wood website and was instantly hooked. Once I had met Alexandra for our first consultation any fears I once had were put at ease. Alex could see my vision and easily put it together so I could imagine the final piece. Alex produced an amazing 3 piece mignight blue tuexedo for me which looked amazing. I experienced so many compliments on the day. The suit itself was everything I had wished for and the quality was second to none. I was looking for something slightly different but nothing outrageously bold or flashy. I was also looking for my groomsmen/usher to wear black tuxedos so the difference in suits would strike a right balance and compliment my suit. I had a rather large party (10) and all the suits were fantastic. The service went well beyond expectations when on the eve of the wedding Denise urgently arranged alterations to some of my groomsmen suits and even met half way between locations to deliver. For his 50th birthday, my husband's friends all chipped in to buy him a bespoke suit - Pete loves suits but had never had one tailored especially for him. The suit was to be a surprise and when I contacted Alexandra by email, she was enthusiastic about the idea. And I was enthusiastic about the fact that Alexandra was a woman, as there aren't many on Savile Row! The day of the first fitting, I brought Pete up to Alexandra's showroom, which luckily is discreetly marked, so he had no idea where I was taking him. When we arrived, Alexandra had a room set aside with champagne and sweets, so it felt like a celebration. She did not rush us through choosing the fabrics or taking measurements, and we stayed on and chatted with her afterwards - she is a lovely, friendly lady. The suit was completed on time so that Pete could wear it with pride to his 50th birthday party - it was a big hit! Excellent, well cut suits. Many grooms have only a handful of jobs to do for a wedding, with (1) speech and (2) "get suits" the most important ones. I travelled from London by train (easy to get to) to the bishops stortford shop one afternoon. Greeted with a nice glass of bubbles while I looked around at the suits, I was very impressed. I have rented suits from elsewhere before and they tend to weigh 400kg to make sure they can be worn by 2000 people. The suits here are lightweight, much like I expect when I get bespoke suits. The cut is excellent. My bride was very impressed with the suits on the day which was a relief! Alexandra and her team were very accommodative for my merry band of ushers and best men...despite a severe lack of intelligence from my friends on what size their bodies are. They were courteous, professional and very very helpful despite a few last minute revisions to the waist sizes of one of the ushers(!). I also had a tailor made shirt from Alexandra which was perfect and ended up getting the ties from here which were priced very reasonably. 100% recommendation from us.
