I had loads of things to repair and no job is too big for Svetlana. I even had my son's dog coat repaired. My son was playing with his dog and he ripped his favourite jacket, his dog managed to take out of the stuffing and he was very upset. Svetlana managed to repair it like nice and he was over the moon for this. The same with his shirt. Svetlana has been a lifesaver for me and has reduced the tears for my son. We have had curtains alterations, jackets, trousers and dresses, all for a good price. I have been going for over 2 years and wouldn't change. Thank you for being so passionate about your work. It's shows and we appreciate everything you have done

Svetlana has such attention to detail, she altered my dress which was very tricky due to it being embellished. She couldn't have done a better job and now my dress fits like a glove. She even noticed my strap needed fixed and now it fits perfectly and doesn't fall down. She also managed to get a very stubborn stain out another delicate dress and now it looks as good as new. She is so friendly, talented and passionate about her job and business. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Ever since I moved to Edinburgh, I was looking for a tailor to do both alterations and reparations. I was lucky to find Maria's shop, and, of the countless time I used her service she has always satisfied, or even exceeded, my expectations about the final clothing results. Plus, she has a good sense for style and measures. I'd absolutely recommend it to everyone who wants to alterate, repair or transform any piece of clothing!!! :)

If I could rate the service with more than five stars I would gladly do it. I had some alteration to be done that came out perfectly. The prices are very fair comparing to other salons. The works were done very quickly, as I was travelling the very next day. The lady who works there is very polite, cares a lot about her customers and respects the time frames, which I find it extremely important, as I have dealt with other tailors and the service was very poor. I recommend Marias tailor Edinburgh with all the trust, because the work and the service are at the highest expectations. ◦

I have had a number of pieces repaired and redesigned at Maria's. The quality of work is outstanding and the speed at which the work is performed is really good too. Her prices even for complex work are very competitive. This lady deserves far more exposure. I also have one of her incredible dream catchers. She has a couturiers eye and touch. She's also very pleasant and polite. She also feeds the homeless and chats to elderly people who pop in to see her amazing dreamcatchers.

My zip had got stuck and broke. I was going to throw it away and someone mentioned to check out Maria's. She managed to repair my coat, put a new zip hook on it for £3. Bargain. I will definitely encourage people to check out Maria's for a repair rather than throw something away.

Maria's did an amazing job with altering my dress. I'm very impressed with the job they did to alter the fit around the bust, especially because the dress is made from quite a delicate lace material. You can't tell it's been altered at all. The price was also incredibly reasonable given this. Excellent, professional service and also friendly staff. I'd definitely recommend and will be using them again.

In town on business I picked up a new suit for a meeting and hurriedly brought it in to Svetlana on Saturday afternoon at about 2. I was hoping she could have the pants hemmed and tapered and coat taken in before Monday. She did them in 3 hours and I picked them up later that afternoon. The alteration was so good, I went and bought another suit for her to alter on Monday. Incredible service and prices. I wish I lived in Edinburgh to bring her my entire closet!

Not sure who I had been dealing with, but she was fantastic. Fixed my jean zip - with a better quality than before (and the jeans weren't cheap!). Polite service, and didn't take them long at all to get them sorted. I was very pleased!

I had a great experience with the re-fitting of a garment I had bought for my civil wedding ceremony. Had bought it online and it was fitting badly so I was really upset about it. I took it to Maria's repair and gentleman there was great, he gave me suggestions on what alterations I could have done to make it fit better and he did a fast and great job with the piece. I took a full length Harris Tweed coat into Maria's to have the length and sleeves shortened to 3/4 length. They made an absolutely beautiful job of it, in under a week and all for £25! The man who did the measurements was brilliant and did exactly what I asked for. He even kept the off cuts for me, as requested. I cannot recommend Maria's enough!

Maria´s Tailor ended up being a great tailor and has an extra asset, Svetlana who is the owner, is a professional fashion designer, so she knows about textiles and much more. An expert in crochet embroidery. Totally recomended.

26/3/18. Absolutely perfect result. I had 2 pairs of suit trousers adjusted. One pair shortened and one pair taken in. I also had 2 shirts tailored to be more slim fitting. I picked up the results and couldn’t tell any work had been performed, the finished quality is perfect and the price was very reasonable.

After two different tailors on Leith Walk turned me down, Maria's took on the challenge of altering my ornate, beaded, formal gown. It was admittedly a tough task but the results couldn’t have been more perfect, and I feel that the pricing was very fair. Also, the woman who took care of me was charming and made me feel special. I guess the third time really is a charm. I would highly recommend Maria’s to anyone in the area, especially if you have a particularly difficult ask!

Maria’s Repairs/alterations: This wee and tidy tailor & repairs (ex-Oscars Tailor) is a life line to Leithers who could be over-affectionate to their garments, clothes and vintage suits. Maria is a very professional and efficient seamstress/tailor that can fix and modify almost every clothing item (from jeans to kilts, shirts to jackets, hem, sleeves, zips…you name it) affordable prices, always in time, being there several time and will certainly will go back when needed. Dry-cleaning service is also available. A gem of a shop. Recommended.
