M. F.My husband and I had three handmade wallhangings from Nepal that we wanted to hang, but didn't have any mechanism by which to do so. We went into Morningside Tailors to ask, and the person who served us (Lindsey) was extremely friendly and helpful.
Based on our research, and talking with a wallhanging expert, we realized that we needed to sew loops (about 1" wide) spaced every 8" cm or so, along the entirety of each of our three wallhangings (a total of 36 loops). Lindsey was fantastic at consulting with us about what was, and wasn't possible, and what might damage our hangings. In the end we asked her to hand-sew each of these loops on, with her thread intermingling with that of the hanging itself.
She did an incredible job! These pieces are really exquisite and she has sewed them so delicately that you wouldn't even know that there was thread coming through onto the wallhanging side. Since these are irreplaceable to us, we are really thrilled that we found her and benefited from her skills.
We have also taken a number of simple garments to repair, zips, etc, to this storefront and have always been very pleased with the service, timeframe and cost. Highly recommended - Lindsey especially :)
