Big thanks to Phil for his excellent service. Highly recommend this business. I needed a few alterations, such as having the seat taken in, on several pairs of trousers. Phil offered good advice and transparency on pricing from the start. Took around ten working days to complete the job as he was particularly busy during the time of my visit – so do consider this and let Phil know if you need your items completed by a particular date. Most customers come here for bespoke suits, but if you’re looking for a quality and professional alterations service then look no further than WGC & S’s!

Arrived just before shutting up on a Friday night with a cigarette burn in my down jacket, let me in and took the time to talk me through all the possibilities of fixing the burn. Managed to take a tiny bit of material from the stuff bag (whilst leaving the stuff bag near enough intact to use again) and patched up the hole whilst keeping the integrity of the stitching. This turn around was all done within around 12 hours ready to pick uk the next day. Excellent work, quick timing and reasonably priced.

I came to this family run tailors to get my first fully bespoke suit some years ago. I was immediately made to feel comfortable and there was no pressure to make any decision quickly which was important to me on my first foray into bespoke tailoring. They took the time to listen and understand my requirements for my suit while providing their own expert guidance on cut, cloth and value for money. Since then I have been a repeat customer for other suits, waistcoats and trousers as well as adjustments to some off the peg suits and jackets. The personal service and product quality are superb and I would highly recommend Child & Sons.

I bought a suit there over 26 years ago and I haven't been back since. Not because the suit was no good but because it is still in regular use! (Take the advice and always go for the option of two pairs of trousers - or "pants" as Mr. C would call them - in fact take his advice about everything sartorial). Sadly it no longer fits me, but it has been handed over to my son who is in the Army and it still draws complimentary remarks from his fellow officer cadets. We'll be back some day!

I first visited WG Child and Sons Ltd to have a casual jacket made but had very little idea of what I wanted nor what would look best on my 6 foot 5 broad frame. Mr Child was brilliant, he immediately dispelled any concerns that I had being a total novice in the world of tailoring through his wonderfully friendly and chatty manner. He was patient and really listened to what I wanted the outcome to be. I was particularly impressed by his upfront honesty in saying what would and would not work (his years of experience being immediately apparent). Refreshingly, not once did I feel I was being steered towards one option or other, in fact, in some elements of the conversation he steered me away from the more expensive cloth options having fully explained the difference and why they would not be a good choice. All costs were simply mentioned as the conversation went on which was something that I really appreciated. Needless to say my jacket is outstanding. I have also taken smaller, repair jobs to Mr Child and he has expertly repaired my suits with the same care and attention to detail as the jacket he made me. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone for any tailoring.

I thoroughly recommend this long-established family firm of tailors in Wandsworth. They have a fabulous selection of materials, the service they provide is impeccable and the two suits they have made for me thus far have both been superb. The quality of their work rivals any of the Savile Row firms I have used, but at prices that are substantially lower. Having lost over 10 Kgs over the past six months, I've just entrusted 4 of my precious off-the-peg designer suits and 8 pairs of trousers to Mr Child for alteration. On the strength of his work to date, I know he'll do a great job.

This is proper Savile Row quality, British-styled tailoring without having to go to Savile Row. Philip is an absolute delight to work with: you can see his tailor's eye running over you from the moment you step into the workshop. He is attentive and listens to what you want, and knows just when to to nudge you away from some wilder excesses. I had two suits made and the cut and "hang" of each is simply first class. Very highly recommended.
