I had a wonderful experience! I was in Edinburgh on vacation and thought of getting my nipples pierced. I contacted some studios but they were the only ones who answered and kindly gave me all the information I asked for. The next day I went in for a walk in appointment and they managed to find a spot for me. The girl who pierced me was lovely, I was pretty ansious but she helped me through the whole process and made it all really really quick. Not to talk about the price, that was awesome compared to other ones you find around. It's now 5 days that I got my nipples pierced and they are doing great! I highly recommend you to get pierced here!

What can I say about this place? It is really fu*king awesome. The place itself is so calming before you get pierced and so cool. The people at the front desk are so sweet and kind and understanding. But by far the best part was getting pierced. I walked in planning to book an appointment for a different day but they were chill and said they could do it there and then. I was pierced by Klaudia and she was the best piercer I’ve had ever. She was super cool and reassuring. I felt very very comfortable and obviously the piercings made me really like the way I looked(eyebrow and bellybutton). I would recommend this place to literally anyone. Came today with a friend so we could both get our lobes pierced and we genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We had Ashleigh who was such an angel, this was my first ever piercing and I have a bad fear of needles but Ash was brilliant in chatting away to me to keep my mind off of it and calm my nerves down. She was absolutely brilliant and although I was close to changing my mind I ended up going through with it simply because of how calm and understanding Ash was. She didn’t once rush me, and took her time both before, during and after the procedure to chat to me and reassure me. Process was overall fantastic and although sore it was done quick and efficiently, and Ash genuinely took her time to make sure my markings were in the right places before she pierced me. The worker at the desk (I believe his name was Christopher? I could be wrong) was also so sweet and friendly and added such an uplifting atmosphere to the experience. Will definitely be back again in the near future🥰

I had booked an appointment in October for november and when i went in November i brought my young scot card (proof of age) but the guy receptionist had denied me and told me to rebook and bring my passport and there was only a free appointment was in December which is odd because the Young Scot card is part of the accredited national proof of age card shame PASS, once i got home i read on the website “ 16's and over must have valid photo ID, we accept Passports, Drivers Licenses & Young Scots Cards” so i’m not sure if the guy was unaware of this but this meant me travelling back for an hour without a piercing and i had to book another day off of work to come back in December. However when i came back in december everyone was super nice where really nice and super comforting as i was rather nervous.

I went in to get a septum piercing yesterday. First piercing I've had done in 10 years so I was a fair bit nervous, but all the staff were super nice, friendly and helpful. The person who did my piercing (sorry, I forgot their name) was also super helpful and very good at hiding the needle as I had said I didn't want to see it because I have a thing with needles. They were very good at helping me manage my nerves and answering any questions I had. Definitely highly recommend these people.

I've had a last minute appointment with Ashleigh today for a microdermal removal. I left a messgae for them yesterday evening as my microdermal has been in such a bad state. They responded very quickly and gave an appropriately detailed description on how to make a booking for such thing. I managed to get an appointment for this morning. It was a great experience in all together. They were professional, friendly and very informative. The registration/check up sheet what needed to be done is very easy to understand, yet very well detailed. The salon is probably one of the safest and cleanest I've seen since Covid-19 restrictions kicked in. The service Ashleigh did was very quick, painless (as much as painless a piercing removal could get :D ) and professional. The atmosphere was great and Ashleigh was very calming. After the removal I've been given advices on how to look after the wound of the piercing. In all together: great service, clean salon and friendly staff. I'll definitely be back in the future.

Me and two friends came at 2:30 on a Monday to get our first ever piercings on our ear lobes. We had a half hour wait so I would recommend going in the morning if you can as the day was booked all the way to closing time by 3 o clock. I went in first out of my friends, and was given the option to lie down or sit up, which was great as I was a bit nervous having never had a piercing before. Becca, the piercer, was very professional, and firm but gentle. She got everything ready and then let me say when to go without giving me too much time to think too hard about it, and once the first one was done the second was done just as quickly. Both of my emails to them before and after were responded to quickly and with good information. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone, no matter how experienced with piercings you are. The atmosphere is very relaxed which I wasnt expecting as I've never been in a tattoo parlor before either, and the care sheet is detailed and good. Titanium earrings and a needle piercing from this place will not do you wrong!

First time I went it was great, Tish was the piercer but has since moved somewhere else. Second time it was different staff who were quite rude. Last time I went I was told I’d need to wait to be checked (for a tongue piercing) which was completely fine. But after 40 minutes of waiting to be checked they said they no longer had any pen left to mark where to pierce but I could definitely get it done, asked me to come back the next day. Came back and it was different staff again who were rude about the piercing. Told me if they did it I’d have a speech impediment and I couldn’t ever get it done. I said that the last staff checked my tongue and said it was fine and I was told that clearly didn’t happen. Went to a different studio and they done it no complications. Your experience totally depends on what staff are there at the time

This place is great! They take their work serouosly, but everyone here was very friendly and helpful! As a person getting their first tattoo, I really enjoyed my experience here and will come back for a future tattoo. My artist was Laura, and she was really great and patient, especially considering that she was recreating an etched in silhouette of an animal from a cracked necklace, which was really hard to see. She was really great and her work was amazing!

I had three piercings done here in one sitting; despite this being quite tough it was the best piercing experience I have had, because of the patient attitude of the piercer, Rhiannon. Although there were a few other people waiting outside to be pierced, Rhiannon took plenty of time to ensure that the piercings were in just the right place for me, allowing me to check each one and decide for myself if they were okay. She explained why she recommended each placement and the necessary aftercare, and I could tell she was very experienced and knowledgeable. His work is top class and he has pretty much under charged me on every occasion (charges for one session and it ends up taking more but theres never even a conversation of asking for more money). The atmosphere is always great, with everyone being friendly. They all seem like friends as well as work colleagues. There's always good music being played which helps take your mind off of the tattoo if it's a longer session and they all seem determined to feed you full of as many lattes as you can handle throughout the day! 01/09/2017 First time visiting Devil's Scribe on the recommendation of a friend, went for a piercing. I've only got 2 existing piercings in my lobes from when I was a kid, so was a wee bit anxious. The place is clearly very popular, and it's understandable why - we went on a Friday afternoon, filled out our questionnaires then were able to go for a bite to eat for an hour instead of hanging about. When we got back we didn't have to wait long at all. The waiting room was relaxed and the staff were friendly. Becca done my piercing for me, she is lovely! Sadly my lugs are too wee for a scaffold piercing, so I opted for a helix instead. Becca marked out 2 spots on my ear to choose which I'd prefer. The second I lay down all anxiety went out the window. The room itself is very clean and sterile - surgical almost, and all precautions appear to have been taken eg gloves, tissue on bed etc. No pain at all - it was over and done with very quickly and gently. Becca went through the after care sheet with me and advised I can go back in 6 weeks for a check up, and have my jewellery changed if I wanted. I got the piercing done about 3 hours ago and have already caught the bug, I want to go for another tomorrow! 10/10 I am definitely going back soon for my next piercing. EDIT: 28/04/2018 Finally went back for piercing number 2! Arrived Saturday morning around 10:45, filled out my questionnaire and was taken right away. The place was scrupulously clean, and as before Becca was great! It definitely wasn't as sore as I thought it would be - probably due to her gentle nature and coaching my breathing.... I was in and out in about 10 minutes. I'm definitely not going to leave it as long for my next one. You guys have a customer for life!

Amazing, friendly, loads of input and back and forth on designs, so I really felt listened to. I loved that even the piercing people were coming in sometimes to see the tattoo progress, because everyone in the place is genuinely into the tattoos! The whole place is very clean and comfortable. The tattoo room is seperate from the main waiting area, so you don't feel on show to the World, and the piercing room is seperste as well. And honestly, the amount of time the artists take on the "not tattooing" parts (which are rushed in other places) is brilliant. Actually designing, checking on spellings and size and placement *multiple times* to make sure it's going to be perfect. Asking for the stories behind them (because they really care). Chatting to help the nerves. And honestly, I have never heard a tattoo artist go over the aftercare so thoroughly in my life! Not only saying "don't do this", but also WHY, and advice on the care, etc. Most places just give you a piece of paper and don't really care if you read it. I really felt like all the artists and piercers at Devil's Scribe really do actually care that you know how to help a tattoo or piercing heal properly. Can't sing their praises high enough, really! Six stars! Enrique did my skull tattoo, but I saw Danny do three tattoos during that time, and his work is fab, too!

Seeing a review on here about Darren being anti-scottish is a load of rubbish. Considering he's from down south if he was anti-scottish I highly doubt he would have lived up here as long as he has and I hope it doesn't put anyone off. I've also had a few piercings done in the studio and also very professional. If you like a bit of banter while being tattooed to make the time go quicker this is definitely the place to go. I've been going to The Devil's Scribe for a couple months now, and have had the pleasure of being both pierced and tattooed. Piercings are, of course, wonderfully affordable, and the studio is clean, with knowledgeable and honest staff. They take seriously their aftercare and will NOT let you change a piercing until you've hit the necessary healing time. It'll make you crazy, but you will thank them in the long run. You will not find a group of people more dedicated to giving you the experience you're after, plus extra mileage just 'cause that's how they work. They're a boisterous, wit-filled, take-the-piss crowd with huge personalities and rooms full of passion and laughter. On top of it all, these artists are wonderfully gifted and spectacularly creative. I've had a piece in work by Darren, the owner, since August. From consult to concept to execution, he's been the best possible tattoo experience I could ever hope for. Darren is the kind of artist you want to work with - here is a person who will advocate for their vision and their art, as well they should (you came to them FOR that, after all) but will not allow their professional confidence to get in the way of giving you the work you want. I came to Darren with a dragon that lived entirely inside my own head. It took us a minute to get on the same page, but once the inking started, it became inescapably clear that this piece was going to be the most beautiful tattoo I could imagine - and a LARGE portion of that was due to ideas Darren had that I honestly had not even considered. The list of features he came up with would exceed this review's character limit but suffice it to say: Darren took what I wanted, added to it, and checked with me at every turn. The result was a collaborative work of art I will be proud to wear for the rest of my life. I cannot WAIT to finish the whole piece so I can get professional photographs of it all. I've been able to see the work of other tattooists in the parlor while Darren has worked with me, and they never have a client walk away who looks anything but thrilled - and I have seen their finished projects. Beautiful. The tattoo room is like an exclusive art club when it's three artists and three clients. We all laugh, chat, comment on one another's art.We leave friends. You'd never forget a face there. The Devil's Scribe feels like a cool, body art family. I'm going to have to move back to the states and I am gutted, utterly and completely, that it means I can't come back here for everything and anything. Oh - and if you do come in for a piercing and you aren't certain the display jewelry is the sort you're looking for ... ASK THEM, they can order stuff, they can show you where to shop. And they will switch things out for you and are HAPPY to do it. And although of course MY recommendation is going to be SEE Darren. SEE DARREN. Go to DARREN. Darren is my tattoo king, my ink royal, the creative crown jewel of body modifications, and all around the coolest guy in Edinburgh ..... You get what you pay for, really. I paid £10 for a bellybutton piercing and it's crooked at a 30 degree angle. It was done quite quickly. I also wanted two microdermals (one between my breasts and one on my throat). They said they didn't do the one between the breasts because it would reject nor the one in the throat because its too close to the windpipe. The first excuse is whatever, I should be able to choose whether I want the risk of my piercing rejecting. The second reason is completely fair, however, the piercer said that "it's a piercing that I am very unlikely to get in Edinburgh, and probably in all of the UK". I thought that sounded untrue, and sure enough, I go to Inkdependent a 3 minute walk away and they do both the microdermals I wanted.
