Really friendly and welcoming team as soon as i walked through the door. The studio space is clean and they have excellent hygiene working practice. I had three cartilege piercings. The piercer was lovely she made me feel relaxed and talked me through each step. She has also invited me back in a month to have a check up to see how my piercings are settling in, excellent service. This is one grand Tattoo parlor. Fabio seems to be a top fellow and damn fine tattooist. The job itself was done wonderfully. I needed a cover up on my wrist which meant he had to spend a little extra time to get it just right, I felt like I was in good hands. I do feel that people should know that is Hammerhands Tattoo is very ethical compared to other tattooists I have visited in trying to achieve that great looking, original tatt everyone should have. Fabio appears to have pride in his work and understands that a tattoo on your body represents him and his business, and that should be a ethic for all tattooists. And in my experience, sadly not all do. So get your ink at Hammerhands... stat!

REVIEW PART 1/2 At the start of this year (2019), I discovered that a collection of music by my favourite singer-songwriter, Bill Oddie, had been released exactly a year ago from the date this review was posted on. The compilation, titled The Cricklewood Tapes, contained music from The Goodies, a comedy from the 70s. Bill used to write songs for specific episodes and record them with some of the greatest musicians on the scene. Until almost a decade ago the recordings were thought lost, but an audio tech by the name of Adrian Bishop-Laggett returned them to Bill. Such was the quality of this music that certain members of The Goodies fan base were ecstatic. So it was little surprise that I would be one of the more hyper ones. I had been waiting for this since first watching The Goodies on DVD. I bought the 3 disc album and listened to it religiously, picking out favourites as I often do. But one track shone far above the best. It was the song Bill write for the Ecky Thump episode, Kung Fu Kapers, titled Bonecrusher. Such is the energy inherent in the elite musicianship that it stands out, even amongst the perfection around it. Being a fan of this song alone wasn't enough, already having a permanent monument to Bill's songwriting in general, my Kitten Kong piece on my right upper arm, wouldn't do. It needed a partner. Putting together bits and pieces from the episode into a folder is where I started. The Peckinpah's Perfect Puddings shield, the flat cap and black pudding flag, and Bonecrusher, rendered in the mock-oriental font of The Mystic East, that School of Ecky Thump... These would be my cast of criterion. I searched for Tattoo Studios in Cricklewood, The Goodies' base of operation, and found one, Hammer Hands. The work by their artists is amongst the best I've ever seen, such a diverse range of styles, though a strong attention to detail towards the Old School discipline. But there is one guy, the owner, who has a jam all of his own. This was to be the place! So it happened that I visited the studio one sunny late July afternoon and convo'd with him about what I wanted done, showing him all my references. He gave me a quote, took my deposit, and booked me in for the 14th of August, 45 years to the Wednesday that the session Bonecrusher was recorded at took place. Fast forward to the day and I arrive in the middle of a week I was given off from work for mental health reasons. Fabio made me feel more at home than I've ever felt at a tattoo studio as he busied himself with all the good stuff. Showing me his mockup was a special moment as I saw what was to be pride of place on my body for evah. As anyone who knows me well can attest, my standards when it comes to tattoos are exceptionally high. Indeed, it was only down to me not being specific enough that two things were off. The flatcap was the wrong style and Bonecrusher was spelt Bonecrasher, but after a short wait this was remedied. The final transfer was perfect, and Fabio explained his choices of element placement, but he needn't of had to. As I pointed out: the customer is always wrong, and he amusedly agreed. We still discussed colours though, and everything was looking great in my third eye already. Placement sorted, left forearm, he got to work preparing his workspace, selecting inks and such. He showed me the equipment he'd be tattooing me with. Barring the power supply and needles, the machines are all handmade one-offs. This would make for even more of a unique thang. Me settled with snacks, water, and music on headphone, he applied the transfer and began...

Based on Cricklewood Broadway, close to Shoot Up Hill, there is an extremely creative, extremely professional, extremely clean, tatoo parlour. And it's definitely worth checking out before you go elsewhere. Wonderful ideas and designs by established tatoo artist who also does piercings. You just have to look at the eye-catching shutter screen which covers his shop front (when his shop is closed), to see how creative he is. Am sure you will be delighted with results, whatever your requirements. 💝
