Can't recommend Society Thirteen highly enough! From start to finish, Ash was friendly, informative and I'm very happy that I listened to his advice. The studio is spotless and Ash is a pleasure to be around. He made the session as relaxing as it could be and he far exceeded my expectations as far as the tattoo goes; he also went above and beyond by touching up an existing tattoo for me whilst I was there, free of charge. Thank you for the experience Ash (and thank you for playing some metal!)

Firstly I cannot speak highly enough of this studio and my review will not do them justice! Had an arm piece done by Ash and he was incredible! Not only was he calming and helpful when having a consultation, he was honest and told me my initial idea wouldn't work but he had a plan and to trust me. That I did! And if I didn't this absolutely wonderful piece would never have been born and like I said words can't describe how good it is! During the tattoo he was so kind and caring and the whole place was very clean and respectable! So if you want an amazing tattoo from a clean and respectable place look no further!

This tattoo studio is amazing! Everything is so clean and the staff are super friendly! My mum came with me and got her first ever tattoo (and it wasn't a small one!) and Ash was so calm and reassuring and really helped her make decisions on little changes to her design. He was super knowledgeable and it made both of us feel in really safe hands. The ladies in the studio were so lovely and made us feel so welcome! This was my first tattoo and honestly, I couldn't have had a better experience. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted and had sent photos but Ash's artwork was genuinely amazing. He'd weaved together all the different elements of the tattoo in a way that worked really well. Ash was really friendly and chatted throughout the tattoo, making me feel completely at ease. He explained everything that would happen, what everything was for and how he was going to achieve the effect in the tattoo that I wanted. I was really impressed by his knowledge and skill in creating the tattoo. He gave clear aftercare instructions, including what was normal and what wasn't and I feel like I have a thorough understanding of the healing process. I'm already thinking about my next tattoo and will definitely coming back to the studio in future!

The outside of the studio looks a bit sketchy but as soon as I went in the environment was really welcoming and professional. Ash is super experienced, very candid, and really easy to talk to. I sent him a half formed idea and a Pinterest board and I loved the result. He was more than happy to tweak the design for me, both when he was drawing it out and when he'd finished the tat. Definitely would recommend. Ash and Kelsey were great and made me feel at ease, considering it was my first tattoo. It’s been just over 2 weeks since I had my first tattoo at this studio and it’s healed really nicely, the oil I was given did a good job. This was my first tattoo here and the people were really welcoming and made me feel comfortable, very professional and experienced tattoo artist who slightly altered the design when I asked and readjusted the tattoo position until it was perfect. Fantastic service, well worth the drive from down south! Ash is very professional and does exceptional work. I gave him a rough idea and he custom drew me a fantastic design that we made a small alteration to before he started working on me. Having been tattooed in other studios around the country this was the first I felt fully comfortable to ask about an adaption and in the end be completely satisfied with the end result. And the only time I ever felt confident in the artist to go freehand in areas. Two years down, and I am still completely in love with my tattoo and get plenty of compliments of the work done. Amazing experience here for my first tattoo. Booking process was really easy and my tattoo was designed exactly how I described it. A few tweaks had been made which definitely looked better than what I had described and these were talked through with me before the stencil was printed and applied. I chose S13 for my first tattoo roughly a month ago and I'm definitely glad I did! The tattoo came out way better than I expected it to, and I was originally planning on getting 2 done in the session but I couldn't hack any more pain that day 😅 Ash kindly understood and was happy for me to not go ahead with the second one, and let me have breaks when I needed them and answered all my questions. They're also very reasonably priced compared to some other artists in the area, without the quality being affected. I also like how you can't see directly into the studio from the outside which is great for privacy, as some tattoo places have big clear windows that anyone can see into which would've made me uncomfortable.

My experience with Society Thirteen has been brilliant right from the initial consultation stage to the end result of my amazing tattoo. I chose this studio after a recommendation from both of my parents who have had multiple tattoos done by Ash. This was my first tattoo and so I wanted to have someone I could really trust to do this for me. My expectations were met and exceeded. The consultation was a really easy process with just a few messages backwards and forwards. On the day of the tattoo I felt really welcomed and in good hands. Both Ash and Kelsey were very friendly and talkative which helped ease my nerves. I had the chance to look at the design and make any amendments. This was done at a steady pace which made me feel like I wasn't rushing into any last minute changes. The studio has a really calming atmosphere since it is only open to each client one at a time. This made the whole experience so much better as I didn't feel like I had an audience or any distractions like there are in so many other studios. It was really clean and private. During the tattoo I was looked after and put at ease. Afterwards, I was given a really detailed aftercare rundown and some free moisturising balm to help the process. Overall I cannot recommend Ash and the studio enough. Thank you!

Since it's my first ever tattoo I wanted a design that represented who I was and what I do; dance. This piece is an interpretive piece. The artist takes a genuine approach in understanding who you're and what you do and proceeds to create work that feels suited to who you are as a person as opposed to getting a random tattoo for the sake of it. I went to Society Thirteen for my first tattoo because they’re the best rated studio in Nottingham, and I completely see why they are so highly rated. The entire process- from booking the appointment, meeting them in the studio and the during and after of the tattoo was an excellent experience. The whole process of getting the tattoo was amazing, from booking, agreeing on the design and getting the tattoo done. The booking was easy and they were very flexible. When I got to the studio the couple made me feel very comfortable as this was my first tattoo experience. I had my very first tattoo today, and honestly, I could not recommend Ash and his parlour enough! I was incredibly nervous (mainly because of the unknown and the pain) but I felt so comfortable from the start. Ash is the best at distracting you so you don't feel the pain as much, and half an hour somehow flew by! Right from the get go they were so great - I decided on getting a tattoo I'd been thinking about for a year last Sunday, and it's finally been done today (Thursday). The service is great, the studio so clean and hygienic and they really try to squeeze you in if they can, plus unlike other places they don't insist on a consultation in person beforehand (perfect for somebody who is irregularly busy) - I just messaged Ash with the design I wanted and where, he gave me some advice and it was booked in! But of course, if you're undecided then make sure you do have a consultation! Ash is also very clear on what he thinks will look good and won't do something that will look stupid on the person; it's not about the money for him which is really important to me, especially since its his own parlour too - recognising that tattoos are forever is something that many people neglect! But overall, I am in love with my tattoo and do not regret it one bit, and if I ever need a friendly, professional and perfect place to get another tattoo for myself or tell others, I will undoubtedly shout from the rooftops about Society Thirteen! Couldn't sing their praises more :)

Ash made special arrangements because of my sudden departure back to America for surgery and even planned to open on Sunday when the shop was closed so she could customize it and not rush the process. I moved to Nottingham in October 2016 and my hunt for a tattoo studio started right away. I already had a concept in mind but I needed someone to bring it to life for me. So by googling "tattoo artist nottingham" I found out about Society Thirteen. After a bit of a browsing through their Facebook photo I messaged the studio right away because somehow I felt I had found the right one. Ash replied to me less than 20 mins later. I talked him through my ideas and sure enough, two days later I had my design. He was so excited about it! The studio is one of the most comfortable studios I've ever been to. Ash is super friendly and it was a real pleasure to know him. Not to mention the hygiene and the cleanliness of the whole area. I felt like Ash knew what I wanted for the tattoo without me even having to tell him. He made some slight changes along the way but at that point I completely trusted him and the results were way beyond my expectations. The tattoo I have on my arm now is way better than the one I had in my mind. I will come back for sure because Ash has promised me he'd work on my sleeve! Haha

I was worried that it wouldn’t be as intricate as I wanted it to be in order to follow specific meanings within the Polynesian symbols.
