Everyone in this studio were very welcoming and the place was clean and warm. Me and my friend done tattoos with Viv who was very friendly and patient. Nice studio totally recommended!

I've been here twice now for tattoos with Viv. The whole atmosphere is really relaxing and welcoming, everyone is very friendly and the studio is airy and full of natural light. Viv always does excellent work and I enjoy each session. The other artists all seem to be of exceptional quality too. Whether it's your first tattoo or you have many, I would recommend this as the place to go.

Clean spacious studio tastefully decorated, staff friendly, funny but professional. Had a cover-up done by Viv and it looks phenomenal, Viv was incredibly patient and helpful, a fantastic artist. Top notch service and great environment. Would recommend, 10/10.

Got a couple of tattoos done; one by Rob and another by Craig. I cannot stress how amazing the experience was. I'll be coming back to get more done in the future. Everyone was so lovely and accommodating, it was so awesome. And the tattoos I got done are breath taking!

I have yet to find a tattoo artist I'm as comfortable and happy with as Rob (Skully) and I will keep coming back til I'm covered haha! I have 5 from him and all have healed super well following his aftercare advice. Always super clean and friendly, makes you feel comfy and welcome and never pushes you to continue if you need a break. Will give you good advice about placements and is always willing to do amazing custom pieces. I haven't been tattooed by the other artists yet but everyone else was laughing and having fun and the place is honest to god immaculate. Great people and great tattooing going on 👏💜

Hands down the best studio I’ve ever been to, I’ve only been to 5 different ones for my tattoos but nothing compares to these guys. I got tattoos by both Jack and Kai and could not be happier! Amazing artists every single person in that store and also amazing people. I will get a tattoo by all of them as soon as possible! Nothing compares to how friendly and welcoming the atmosphere is, you feel like you’re part of a big family, it’s so relaxing especially when you’re getting stabbed by tiny needles ahah Needless to say, it’s my absolute go to spot and I’m always looking for ways to save money to go back to them.

Traveled around 3 hours for a tattoo with Skully (Rob) and this is one of the best studios I have even been to. Everything is clean, fresh and it's the most relaxing environment to get a tattoo from. Would strongly recommend getting a piece from any of the residents here. Can't wait to visit them again for more work!

I’ve been tattooed by jack many times, everyone in the shop is extremely friendly and welcoming. They always make sure to make sure you feel safe when getting a tattoo. The entire shop is clean throughout and has facilities to keep you entertained when waiting and during your tattoo. Couldn’t recommend ATG enough.

I have a few tattoos done by both Rob and Jack, and followed them to their own studio when it opened, as I love both their artistry and personalities (brilliant dorks). They are selective with the artists they welcome to join them and promote an inclusive safe space. The Against the Grain Studio is bright, open and welcoming, which has a relaxed and chilled vibe as you’re getting work done. It feels more like hanging with friends than conveyer-belt tattooing. As someone with PTSD it is important for me to feel comfortable with my tattoo artists and the studio environment. It is safe to say I’m an established regular and look forward to exploring the work from the other resident artists.

Want a tattoo but a bit intimidated by idea of tattoo studios? Look no further!!! A beautiful open space, with lots amazingly talented and kind people. I went today for their Friday 13th event and was blown away by how friendly and professional the staff was.

Very welcoming and friendly studio with some great artists. So pleased with the care taken and the quality of my tattoo. They completely have your best interest in mind and I will definitely be returning

Had my leg tattooed here by Kai, who is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, always made sure I had enough breaks and very quick for an apprentice. Tattoo healed amazingly and I had an absolute blast and lots of laughs with the whole studio whilst my boyfriend was getting tattooed across the room by jack (also an amazing artist) would highly recommend, the artists here will make you feel so welcome and comfortable and it’s a great place to get your first tattoo! Have booked in again in December and I can’t wait.

this place is run by 2 of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet, I was in getting tattooed by a guest artist, but have previously been tattooed by Skully and ended up leaving the studio with a booking to get tattooed by Jack both are stunning artists, the studio is lovely plus got to kick back and play some mario Kart and smash bros while waiting. Would highly recommend.
