Reviews of Sprotbrough Bridge
S. W.
Had a lovely bike ride to this location and it's such a nice walk too on the trans pennine trail
D.
Stunningly peaceful place to walk, cycle, jog...or just rest & watch the world gently float on by. A beautifully kept spotless area with regular attendance by the wonderful mobile tea and ice cream vans, often parked up to supply refreshments and a warm friendly welcome.
Suitable easy access ramp for wheelchair users & buggies etc.
T. B.
Lovely walk just a couple of hills all the rest nice and flat and some great views
H. A.
It's a bit small for two cars to pass, but Great fir stopping Viking Armies
P. C.
Lovely area of Sprotbrough well worth a visit
P. C.
Interesting industrial archaeology and heritage with parking, waterside walks and a tempting pub/restaurant we'll hope to visit someday.

Sprotbrough Bridge is a very nice place to go for a walk and for a meal at the canal side pub and restaurant the boat inn, a short walk is the nature reserve, the canal and the river dearne, obviously the river is in flood here
J. S.
Beautiful view of the falls and the boats on the river
R. C.
Good walking and birds spotting (if that's your thing), I'd been biking at the gravel pit and woods near by, there was also a portable coffee hut there with good coffee and cake
M. S.
Sprotbrough Flash Nature Reserve was one of the best however now the tow path is dangerous for walkers with dogs the cyclists tend to fly down the tow path. With the path itself only being about a metre wide with the river/canal one side and nettles/plants down the other. After around 20 cyclists forced me and my dog into the nettles and other plants in 100m I decided to turn back and give up. It's such a shame Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have allowed this, without consideration of pedestrians.
Even so far as the cyclists riding on the footpaths and through the woods is a real shame and spoils what would otherwise be an enjoyable day that turned out to be less than one hour. And went to Idle Valley Nature Reserve instead.

This walk is part of the Trans Penine Trail. We walked from Conisbrough up to the Boat Inn at Sprotbrough.
The walk is approximately 2.7 miles and is on a well established path and concrete path. Loads of other dog walkers, mountain bikers and hikers using the path so no need to feel isolated.
You can cross the bridge at Sprotbrough and walk back on the opposite side of the river Don back to Conisbrough through the woods or just head back the way that you came.
There is an ice cream van that serves coffee or take your own and chill out on the benches and watch the world go by...

Sprotbrough flash is a beautiful route for famillies, dog walkers , Cyclists and even rowers from the local rowing club .Fabulous walks and Boat inn pub awaits for you.

A beautiful stretch of the river Don. The river is passing through a wooded valley. The main river flows over a weir with a lock to allow boat navigation. On the north side of the river a towpath allows to the east a walk all the way into the centre of nearby Doncaster. To the west, upstream, the path reaches a nature reserve (Sprotbrough Flash) & the scenery & bird life are delightful. About 150yds upstream on the north bank is The Bridge public house for good food & all the usual liquid refreshments.
J. H.
Love the coffee and ice-cream stands. Sit on a bench with either or even both and watch the world go by. Lovely.
