Reviews of Edinburgh Airport
S. n.
Currently building back to being the busy airport it was before Covid. Not to far from the city, with parking and rental cars nearby. A short walk from three hotels to stay, the Moxy, Doubletree and Hampton. Also you can catch the bus or tram into the city center. Currently, the tram is being extended at the other end, and is only stopping as far as West End. The tram works should finish in 2023. Plenty to eat and drink at the airport with a Starbucks on the ground floor and if traveling internationally, lots more beyond security.
A. R.
I know airports are being slated for how busy they are with not enough staff, but my journey today was excellent! It was a lot busier than normal, but staff quickly got people checked in and through security. Have everything ready and it’s a quick and painless process. In total 20 mins to check luggage and get through security. Airport was clean and tidy with friendly staff x

As airports go Edinburgh is a good one. Somebody told me that they have reduced the announcement over the loudspeakers. It does make a difference. Best feature - it's in Bonnie Scotland!
D.
It's a small airport, I've only used it for flights within the UK. It's probably impossible to get lost in so that's a bonus, there are a decent amount shops and eateries on hand. Not too many stairs to reach boarding gates which is also a plus.
R. R.
The Airport is pretty good. Although the area is a bit less, however it is understandable in a small city like Edinburgh. We travelled from Kolkata India to London Heathrow and then we had a connecting flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh. So may be after seeing such a huge Airport like Heathrow, the Edinburgh Airport seemed a bit smaller. But again nice and beautiful Airport. To express the beauty of the Airport, I had to share my story in brief...
z. h.
4 starts cos today all staff was nice helpful work went smoothly.
But on my day of departure woman on security check was nasty, mean and rude. She saw me single adult with 3 small kids and still decided to put my bags inside out and told me to clean it myself.

Be prepared for long queues on arrival ( suspect a mix of post Brexit and Covid), that being said airport is modern and clean. The return to rhe UK was better as cleared customs and checking in quickly. Not many food options in departures and not many seats thankfully we had a later flight.
H. R.
Busy! Great staff, good selection of shops and eateries. Clean toilets with very cool hand driers
R. H.
Long, long queue at immigration, £4 charge at the pickup point, its an airport that's just too small for the traffic going through it but it's OK apart from that. Very conveniently placed for the M8 west and all points north over the bridge.
D. M.
Disappointed that there's no WIFI for international travelers to be able to do banking transactions or anything else.... as a handicapped traveler, this was the third time that I had to use the bathroom...only to find that the disabled toilets are not opened and most of us can not get up off a normal toilet 😑 otherwise the other amenities are great.
T. N.
Very good, super fast check.in courtesy of Jet2;staff very friendly then fast track the through security.
L. S.
Easy enough to get through security and not a long wait either. On coming back to UK. Guy managing people at passport control could have been more welcoming. ( Kind of shouty without needing to be.) Baggage was on conveyor quickly not needing to wait a long time. Like any airport when you pass security items to buy are expensive (drinks etc)
C. T.
Quite a long walk some of it outside from the tram to checkin. Mini checkin, you have to walk past the desk to put your luggage on belt.
Fast track security ok. Duty free shop staff disinterested. Had to chase one to ask a question. BA lounge ok, only view was of the Covid testing centre. Not full range of food and no buffet anymore. Boarding at gate efficient.
Nice regional airport.
M. C.
It would be very practical to have a covered concourse from/to the airport to the close by hotels, 6 minute walk. Double tree by Hilton, Moxy etc. We dragged our luggage over grass, no pavements, would be ridiculous to get a cab.
T. C.
Great experience using Edinburgh Airport for the first time. Only adverse comment would be finding the pick up point after leaving long term car park. Not well sign posted and £4 charge to pick up a wheel chair passenger was a rip off.
K. B. (.
Security was not good. They were too slow. Belongings Inc technology had been sent down the line a good 5 mins before we were checked. Would the airport be responsible for anything that went missing i wonder!! Aspire lounge was worst I have been in.
S. B.
Edinburgh Airport is great, helpful staff and passport scanning is an effective, quick process but my only gripe is the often slow sending out of luggage on the conveyor belt..90% time I have travelled back to Edinburgh have experienced this. Perhaps this can be looked into and improved on. Many thanks
R. V.
This is a clean well maintained airport. The staff is genuinely (emphasis on genuine) helpful and friendly. Lots of construction right now so flights on smaller planes are a little disrupted.
A. D.
Has good check- ins for baggage, airport personnel's helps any passengers around. Food stores are sufficient. The frequent flights to European destinations are sometimes pocket friendly.
J. T.
Edinburgh Airport should be held as the gold standard for how to quickly and efficiently get a large number of people through security checks.
All the staff I came into contact with were courteous and polite too.
J. H.
The airport itself is pretty fine but the surroundings and amenities are not worth much.
P. R.
BA Staff were fantastic as usual. Only complaint was the Aspire Lounges, both closed, really one closed for some work, the other closes at 16:30hrs........ At an airport that's operating 24/7.
L. S.

Welcome to Scotland, but come a different way to avoid the constant need for a half marathon up and downstairs walk from plane to any human contact! Although Passport folk are pleasant, the one long queue is not. One is directed passed the officers only to be told to return to those numbers you have passed. Surely even the capital can afford a little light at each booth to save someone shouting 5 numbers. A suggestion to a bloke doing nothing, that separate smaller queues at each booth might work better, brought about the profound reply 'aye but you'd still have to queue'!" God forbid intelligence ever creeps into this place!
I. S.
Starting to get a little busy.
It was good to get through the airport when it wasn't so crowded but it's also great to see it starting to get back to normal.
Usual extortionate prices to eat and drink in the airport but it's the same all over.
Masks are compulsory at the moment but I think they are having a review soon, hopefully relaxing the rules.
H. H.
Staff very helpful and courteous, measures in place to help families travelling with young children were great! No standing in long queues for ages and all facilities were spotless, very impressed! Well done guys
s. k.
Small airport but properly maintained …. Proper indications and guidance from staffs. Once out of airport easy access to Trams, Buses and Taxi. Get big taxi to hold as much check in baggages.
S. G.
We had a couple of heavy carry on bags. And to get through customs we had to walk up AND down multiple stairs. Would have been nice if there was an elevator or escalater.
Getting through customs was not hard, just time consuming with the line.
Btw, really cool sinks in bathrooms where you wash AND dry your hands under the sink!
T. K.
Very long queues for security checks. I almost missed my flight as I had to wait 30-40 mins in the security clearance queue. The staff was trying their best but still took too long to process.
K. F.
Very controlled, high levels of security and strong amounts of checks in the terminal. Staff very aware and focused. Lines were very clearly marked. People always happy to help. Enormously large carpark. Brilliant covid social distancing and surface cleansing. Amazing.
S. M.
Security is fast and friendly. Great public transport options from the city centre. Well sign posted. Decent shops for a small airport. Does everything you want.
A. M. 1.
Was there picking up friends from the airport, its all changed since I was last here, but easy to navigate
S. L.
Be prepared for long queues on arrival ( suspect a mix of post Brexit and Covid), that being said airport is modern and clean. The return to rhe UK was better as cleared customs and checking in quickly. Not many food options in departures and not many seats thankfully we had a later flight.

It was beautiful, staffs are welcoming and always ready to help.
But do not take the Scottish people's niceness for granted, there are few racist among(very few). You will definitely love what you see.
And don't forget to read up on WET COLD if you are traveling to Scotland for the first time
b. s.
Went to drop of our disabled son for a flight to the states. The staff were friendly and helpful and the disabled assistance guy was great. Shame they are only on minimum wage at Edinburgh airport.
N. L.
It's busy, but the queues are nothing like those at Manchester or Heathrow. I was in the Departure Lounge 22 minutes after getting out of the taxi. Half the people are wearing masks in terminal and half not.
L. C.
Nicely decorated for Xmas, taxi rank was easy to find and order taxi to hotel. Very quick late at night. Airport workers very helpful.
D. A.
I can't thankyou enough for your care when I suffered a medical incident. The two people who attended me were amazing they dealt with things which were not easy they located a screen so other people did not have to see what was being dealt with. They continued my care till the paramedics arrived and I was taken to hospital.Thank you.
T. D.
The coaches and tram into town were just right there outside the airport. Backpacking never looked so easy and for the moment cost effective.
R. H.
Long, long queue at immigration, £4 charge at the pickup point, its an airport that's just too small for the traffic going through it but it's OK apart from that. Very conveniently placed for the M8 west and all points north over the bridge.
R. W.
The best experience we had at an airport, efficient smooth Ryanair check-in followed by quick, well organised security, using much shallower trays than all other airports that we have flown from. Parking very reasonable using Premiair 10mins shuttle away. Unfortunately the return was very different with long queues at the passport control due to several machines not working and those that did, didn't accept some passports...so off to the manual checks.
K. D.
Expensive drop-off and pickup area.
£4 for 5 minutes. Staff at these locations aren't too happy either.
Inside is different.
Usual shops and food court.
All well sign posted and easy to navigate.
C. W.
International arrivals could do with an upgrade. Hardly what you'd call classy or welcoming! The ladies toilets were not good - only half of the soap dispensers working, the toilet seats all stained and toilet paper on the floor. A stark contrast to toilets that I'd been to in the European Countries I'd just got back from which were clean, smelling nice and in very good condition.
U. S.
The airport itself is fine... though things a bit less clearly signed when you exit.. Took a while to figure out where buses, taxis, tram etc go...
D. M.

G. B.
Security was busy but ran smoothly. No real holdups. Flight delay of 40 mins, grabbed a coffee no problem
G. D.
Edinburgh is good connection to some of the European cities.
If you walk outside the airport you can connect to the different parts of the city by cab, bus and tram just outside the airport. All the three options are available. GETT most common app taxi app where you can book taxi and you can also book taxi without app instantly.
Taxi and Tram connect is alo available. You can also book a day ticket inside the bus Valid for whole day.
M. C.
Great security, quite a lot to do if you have time before your flight. Wouldn't recommend getting there too early though as the beer prices are steep.
L. K.
Very limited signage upon arriving at the airport, and really long cues for check in because there’s only 2 or 3 desks for the whole flight. The option to check your luggage’s weight before check in(that you have to pay for) didn’t work either.
Security was smooth and I got good service at the duty free, but it was equally confusing to find my gate once through. I hope they put up better signage, and preferably an easy to find help-desk in the future. Wifi is only available on second floor, so be prepared that you might not be able to access documents on mobile phone at check in.
T. M.
Excellent experience at Edinburgh Airport, first time with disability assistance, helped tremendously with mobility. Very polite & helpful staff.
J. M.
Hot, crowded, wi-fi was not working. 4g and 5g service were overwhelmed. Irritating scramble at bag check and at security as if they were doing this for the 1st time. I would take the train instead next time.
J. M.
Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is the busiest airport in Scotland and the sixth-busiest airport in the UK, handling over 12.4 million passengers per year.
You can reach it by:
- Bus (Airlink 100 - Bus stop A)/30m: £4.50 - (Ticket “open return”: £7,50)
Operates 24/7 and there is a bus every 15 minutes (between 00:30 and 04:30 the frequency is every 30 minutes). You can purchase the ticket on board with contactless payment or exact amount (no change payment);
- Tram (30m): £6,50 - (Ticket “open return”: £9,00)
Depart every 7 minutes from 07:00 to 19:00, and every 15 minutes outside of these hours.
- Taxi, from Edinburgh Airport, a cab to the city centre takes about 20 minutes and costs about £20.
C. R.
Not the greatest of airports, absolutely terrible links for flying out of such a big important airport in Scotland.
Shops are very expensive inside the terminals along with the packed restaurants.
B. A.
All went smoothly other than slow service for coffee at the bar at the far left. Possibly All Bar One. Had to be prompted that we were going for a flight despite it being quiet and 3 staff chatting.
M. B.
Not the best of airports. Parking expensive, food and drink expensive. Transportation to and fro the airport is also expensive. For example the train from Kraków airport which is in the airport costs 14 zlotys, just over £2 and takes 25min. The bus from Inverkeithing Park and Ride is £8 and also takes around 25mins. Also a pint of Guinness and San Miguel £11.95, burger and chips £11.95. Scandalous prices through out the whole system.
L. P.
Nice airport with all the usuals
G. I.
Taking local flight EDI to BFS, still insane to me that I can get to Belfast quicker than Inverness.
Security was polite and quick. Air crew were great easyjet staff were pleasant.
C. T.
14.5.2022 - absolutely heaving - Ryanair flight delayed from 1750 until 2030....
Security was backed up - queues here but ultimately sll Ryanair flights were late pretty much today....
But after 2 years of craziness actually getting on the plane wax z boost, even if it was late....
Let the holiday begin !!
R. C.
Queue management getting through security could be improved.
Perhaps there was a staff shortage? Other than that a smooth boarding experience.
C.
Very easy airport to navigate. Moderate to small size. Lovely duty free with helpful staff. Lovely little shops for gifts
Gates are nice and close
S. S.
Yh Edinburgh Airport was good,I got shouted at for not going to the toliet and my mum said I wasn't looking but I was I was just not looking in the direction off the toloets.
But we soon found them mum pointed it out too me thank god.
J. J.
Nice Airport but small ...
Food outlets available inside like Burger King... Shops are there... Tram service available to city centre ... U can get taxi as well, no need pre booking,Taxi drivers are friendly and helpful,Reasonable price to city centre when compared to Uber ...
s.
It is well connected to Edinburgh, but it is a airport, so the usual hold ups in security is to be expected, but I will say, its better than East Midlands, then again, Edinburgh bus station is better than E M.
N. C.
Clean, easy and quick to get to and from the city centre (unlike London where the airports arent anywhere near and the transport rubbish!). Staff helpful and friendly (unlike London where they were rude and surly). The Edinburgh leg of the journey was pleasant both ways, alas the London side was awful.
V.
Edinburgh Airport, never had any issues. Just like any other airport, always has WHSmith, Cafes, Restaurants. Also, one part of the airport, has a play area for kids, not to big, just keeping the wee ones entertained.
S. F.
Took wrong turn ended up through a drop off costing me £4. Managed to get back round and into the carpark to park and pick my friend at international arrivals.
R. C.
Need to massively upgrade their Wi-Fi - it doesn't work in more than half the terminal - also actually get some water fountains for the public to use would be a great step forward...
J. S.
Departures area reasonable with selection of shops and bars, however it can be crowded at times. Toilets throughout the airport tend to suffer lack of maintenance and cleanliness (often in a poor state). International arrivals hall to the north end is of extremely poor quality (a disgraceful first impression), cold, dirty floors, long queues for the very limited number of immigration control desks and e-gates available. Long queues develop. Toilets in this area are poorly maintained and cleanliness standards leave much to be desired. Overall the airport is by world standards rather mediocre. It has developed haphazardly over time and really the only solution is now to build a completely new terminal building!!!
I. S.
Haven’t been to Edinburgh airport for 30 years and it’s a very different place to then. Loving the tram connection too…
R. M.
Well was there for 03.30in the morning not a lot of shops open but wea0therspoons was for breakfast and something to drink so all was OK got through security without any hasselt with was a bonus so got on plane at 06.30 and that was that
M.
Not too bad for a little airport. Arriving was a tad confusing as domestic arrival passengers are led back into the main terminal instead of straight to the baggage claim. However, this was fine as the signs to domestic arrivals were very clear. If going to the center would reccomend taking the tram it's just around and corner and gets to the center in about 30mins for a reasonable fair.
Flying back out was fine, security was pretty fast and I got an extra scan which was done very quickly. Alot of restaurants shut airside so not alot of choice. Also alot of areas were quite busy making distancing quite hard.
T. S.
Clean toilets, ok restaurants. All in all a nice airport. However: the security check in was a mess. Not organized very well. People just stood in the line, and were not called forward. And when we arrived we had to wait one hour for the luggage ..
T. G.
A fair selection of shops..
A modest size airport, good transportation to Edinburgh City & road connections to other major Scottish cities.
a. f.
Nice place, tasty aeroplanes and the food departs on time too.
D. S.
Decent sized airport for a small city like Edinburgh . Lot of shops , restaurants and coffee places . Security Check was easy especially since we had a child with us . We always reach early to make sure things are smooth for everyone . Had lot of time in hand since everything including security clearance went at a decent pace . Clean washrooms and smiling staff . What else can you ask for .w
D. H.
Smart, newish, but not a great selection of shops, in my opinion. Quite good for bars and food, for a relatively small airport.
M. M.
We flew at 7pm, it was very quiet almost all shops were closed. Nearly all passengers wore face masks except 5 Airport workmen who where walking about wore none
T. C.
Airport with easy information about directions and flyghts. A lot of toilets available. For person who needs lifts there is available too. Buses to Glasgow and Edinburgh from Airport.
N.
It isn’t a huge airport, but still has a reasonable selection of shops and restaurants. There is a good view of the aircraft on the apron from the departure hall.
L. N.
Modern, clean and cosy airport.
The self check passport control really surprised me!
For any departure flight, everyone pass the self check passport control when you place your passport to scanner and afterwards gates automatically open. Usually in EU passports check border guards in cabins, but there is evrything automatic. Very advanced self check in good way!
Even prayer room is aviable.
Baggage drop off self check out.
Polite and friendly airport stuff.
A. G.
Clean, friendly staff and well organized. It’s not crowded and less stressful. Lots and of shopping to do here too before departure and many cafes and restaurants to eat and relax by waiting for your flight.
D. G.
All good. A bit weird way to drop bags for Ryanair but apart from that everything is fine
S. B.
Booked my car into the mid stay car park. This is not very well sign posted and the postcode takes you to the multi story car park which you will have to pay to get out of
a. w.
Very uncomfortable seating...but efficient boarding and nice customer service's 👍had a lovely vegan meal served by a great polish waiter...not spoons!
J. G.
Carparking for pickup&dropoff very expensive plus routes in and out of parking areas can be confusing. Immediate main roads in and out of airport in bad state of repair.
D. M.
The bus service has been moved from right outside the terminal to a good trek away, uncovered so in the rain not good, let's see how temporary this move is..
R. S.
I was expecting the airport to be a lot busier than it is for some reason.
Very smooth passage through to departures, even the security check was bearable for a change!
L.
Great airport, lots of shops and facilities to use clean and comfortable particularly like the Brewdog bar 👌
J. G.
Arrived last night from bodrum , very very busy to go thru security however its was very efficient and took about 20mims to get thru And by that time our luggage was on the carousel well done the staff the airport 10 out of 10 as u normally get 0 uut of o well done and hopefully u will tell the teams on the ground that they do an amazing job
j. m. d.
I had great experiences at this airport. The only but is that in peak days security area looks very small and packed. The staff worked hard and very politely. A little sad that after a nearly recent upgrade travelers and staff had so limited space.
The drop off charges are very expensive and unjustified.
K. W.
Loved playing on the escalators with my friends,Really expensive for a much right enough but otherwise ws good.stay safe peeps big B from Clippens Road.
M. S.
The perfect organization of the passenger flow! Cozy, clean and well-organized airport. There are not many fast food restaurants, as at Frankfurt Airport, for example, but the available restaurants fully meet the requirements of the passengers. In addition, the airport has a very affordable food store. Close to the shop is the exit to the bus stop. From there, there is a bus number 100 that goes to Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh. The ticket price is £ 4.50.
Z. I.
I found the Airport to be small but efficient. As for the stores you could could find the essentials before security.
After security the choices are much better when it comes to stores and especially food.
The gates tend to get crowded.
H. R.
Busy! Great staff, good selection of shops and eateries. Clean toilets with very cool hand driers
E. N.
Honestly - most efficient airport security experience in a long time. Security was a breeze (granted, it was a Wednesday morning...) and services in the airport were great. I hope to be back soon! Keep the flights to the NYC area going!!
T. N.
Very good, super fast check.in courtesy of Jet2;staff very friendly then fast track the through security.
Z. K.
Had a good experience of this airport. It's a big airport but It doesn't look big. People are complaining about lines at security. Honestly, I can't relate because I had fast track which was less than £4 and it really did help. Honestly It's Scotland's main airport. It will be busy.! Come on people. 🤷 But I had a good experience over all, friendly security staff everywhere. Helpful Power sockets everywhere. Good choice of shops.
J. G.
Easy access park and fly very handy airport lounge great start to the holiday
R. L.
Passed through here to get a flight to Stansted. Facilities in here are very clean the security was very swift and fast. The only thing I would say is the toilets do need labelled a bit better as they can be hard to find
L. W.
Edinburgh Airport the staff there were really quick getting us onto the return journey home. Plenty of cafes and bats to while away the time.
A. D.
It a shame the done away with up stairs to view the planes take I had taken my grandson he loves plane take him to see them not able I was not only grandparents that was disappointed
J. H.
Everything in one place easy access for people with a disabled plentiful shops with everything you need to have when you fly
V. N.
Pretty well organized and clean. Everything is signposted, easy to find and use. Transport links close to the entrance and cheap compared to London airports.Overall a good experience, albeit tiring.
M. S.
This airport is ok. The highlight is the security lines are very short. Other than that, signs are confusing, very little seating areas, and not a whole lot to do. WiFi is only available for two hours so I wouldn’t say it’s free. This airport gets you from point A to B and that’s about it.
B. P.
Strict Covid 19 rules are in place with regular announcement. All non essential shop st the airport remains shut and regular police 👮 patrolling is also visible. A different environment to regular airport rush.
A. R.
Think I've reviewed before, but here goes an update.... And it's still all good. Cope well when it's busy. Cheery security team is a big, big plus and pleasant change from most other places.
Nice scale, so a much more personal experience. Basically all good, hence the full five stars.
S. A.
Excellent experience dropping off my disabled friend for her flight helpful pleasant staff
M.
Being able to arrive at the airport's front door on the SkyLink bus service made for a relaxing start to my journey. Impressed by the speed by which I was able to clear security. Hopefully the disruption from the improvement works will be short lived!
A. P.
There was some change to the layout of the airport since my last visit almost 2 years ago (COVID) but everything still very well organized
P. G.
Really busy going through security and quite a lot of personal belongings being put aside for manual inspection, not too sure if that's a regular occurrence or just that security take things to another level when it's public holiday.
C. W.
I found my experience at the airport to be very pleasant. I arrived late at night and yet there were plenty of reasonably-priced options for getting me into the city, and on my return flight out I got to enjoy the wide selection of shops, cafes, and bars on offer. I didn't actually buy anything, but price-wise everything looked quite reasonable - I'd say the mark-up stands at around 20%, which isn't bad for a modern airport.
k.
Very nice Airport. Small but high standard. Personnel are nice especially on the immigration section. Love the beautiful Edinburgh Airport tower and the nature around it too!
d. d.
I like the way the airport staff come across as very helpful and understanding.Thanku to the airport staff and helping me just having a nice wait at the Edinburgh Airport as l wait on a family member.I also think very well run even in this current situation.Everyone is doing great.
L. d. F.
No issues with the actual airport as such. The only issue we found was with the getting into the airport once we landed due to the amount of stairs both upwards and downwards which we needed to do . Not do easy for a lot of people. I am aware there is lift but we are also there are o lot of people possibly less able than us so to wait for one would have taken quite some time. All in all, everything was well enough organised.
C. T. E.
Airport is fine. Don't book car hire through an online portal like rentalcars.com though. Basic info is hidden. Horrible shock to find £2500 excess and mileage limited to £100 per day. All in the small print but who takes the time to read that? Go direct to car rental company - cheaper in the long run.
M. V.
Easy to find your way around, nice and helpful staff, would recommend for you to get the fast track security to make thing even more easier.
F. M.
The staff are friendly. However, the airport is quite small and busy. The connecting transport such as tram and bus are easy to find just follow the signage. The airport staff is very helpful. Especially for a mother with child travelers like us.
k. s.
We had very smooth and easy transition through the airport in both directions. Obviously things took a little longer than before due to all the extra paperwork required just now, but as long as you have the right stuff with you it's not that bad.
M.
Fine airport, has nice shops and services in the area. I do wish the carpark, or at-least some of them, weren't what feels like 10s of miles away.
I. C.
First time on this airport and all went smooth and nice.10 minutes i was out
B. C.
Very helpful when I contacted them about help when arriving at airport. Unfortunately, the experience on flying back in from abroad, was akin to arriving at a third world bomb site. Very depressing, very bare, and security was pathetic. Really need to upgrade airport arrival area, and make it welcoming to visitors. .
N. C.
No help getting from long stay car park to terminal. Average food/beverages with appalling service from branded high St chains. Won't be rushing back...
A. M.
Straight forward travelling no major questions or issues. Will fly from Edinburgh again
P. M.
All in One bar closing at 4.45 does not help provide some better dining. The security layout and procedures are the worst I have ever come across - needs a major re-think.
B. M.
Love this airport because it's close to Glasgow 😀
After a hectic visit to Edinburgh it was great for some down time. Security and check in were fast.
Flight was delayed but not the airport's fault.
D.
Tannoy too loud ..... mess under the seats where you sit .. no organisation at gate ... people always queue across walking traffic etc ..
D. 8.
Not many places was open after 6pm. But we managed get coffee at starbucks before my cousins flight. Overal was speed security check up. Not very busy. Clean and safe 🤗
D. B.
The airport has short ways and a very fast security check. Organized very well! The duty free is already open at 5am including whisky tastings.
I. H.
Covid has taken its toll on the retail side. Staff still great as is communal areas and toilets. Parking facilities even better than before. Very easy to get to, no matter how your travelling.
S. P.
Easy airport to travel to via public transport (bus and tram) and to get into the city.
A reasonably quick security check which makes life smoother.
P. W.
Great airport, seems well organised and equipped. Great links to the city.
K. C.
flew from edinburgh 4th march with jet 2 holidays everything was great arrived back 11th march from alighting the plane at one end of the airport to reach passport control on the ground floor at the other end of the airport with a few flights of stairs thrown in with no prior knowledge only signs pointing where to go my friend with a heart condition really struggled with this if there was some information on the location of passport control this would help as was the same with the bus stop being changed to the other end of the airport so lesson learned dont just assume everything is the same from when you last visited please check all that said edinburgh airport is looking better
M. R. L. M.
it all seems to work well. We always enjoy a snack in the Costa Coffee Shop, in Departures.
You can also get a very good breakfast in Weatherspoons
F. C.
Good airport, small but functional there is a lot of different transport can bring you in the city centre in 40 min.
D. T. P.
Edinburgh Airport very friendly easy to find your way around and with the right taxi company looking after you a perfect way to arrive and depart Edinburgh
D. M.
Easy to find where you need to be as everything clearly signposted. Lots of covid safe stuff in place. Staff all friendly and helpful.
L. O.
Clean, efficient and staff were helpful. Quickly through all gates and processed as long as you had all the correct paperwork. Off for a week in the sun. Thank you.
M. S.
Arrived and departed without issues. Sec scan quick and well organized. Good bus / lightrail connection into city (30 min)
N. R.
Very good experience at EDI. Check in and security were a breeze. Even at a (relatively) busy period the queues were well managed and with the minimum of waiting. Toilets were very clean and a lot of hand sanitizer stations available.
R. W.
Trams make it easy to travel in and out of Edinburgh. Airport itself is easy to navigate and check in.
R. S.
I'm impressed, every single time I turn up at Edinburgh airport, always some improvements inside or out.
Still rate 5 star with 2 weak point:
-sign post missing for new disabled drop off spaces (mean when you have to chose Lane 1 2 3 or 4)
-Long Stay Express should be a fast track. In realistic takes 20 minutes longer drop off the car with 'paperworks' instead just park anywhere and walk away.
L. C.
Can anyone really say all positives for an airport review??
I always have mixed feelings about airports! Its always a different experience each time I go through each airport around the 🌎
At Edinburgh Airport - you better make sure you have documents in order, passport and ticket ready at all times. That you have packed correctly with ALL liquids (no more than 100ml each) in only 1 (one) clear plastic zip lock bag. This is VERY IMPORTANT. Security is hard on those who 'forget' to pack correctly!!
**only use a bag on wheels as there's a lot of walking and moving slowly in ques at boarding gates and customs.
C. D.
Arrivals and immigration worked smoothly but complete lack of taxis. Poor show!
L. O. B.
Small airport but very efficient. No passport control when arriving into Edinburgh?? . Tram links buses and taxis a short 5 minute walk . Also a covid testing center for pcr tests .
L. B.
Baggage was delayed for 1 hour, they should let the passengers know as soon as they are off the plane if there are any delays.
R. H.
Very easy and quick landing, luggage was already waiting for us at baggage reclaim.
P. W.
Great small airport. Looks of amenities and easy to navigate.
S. M.
I used to really like Edinburgh airport. In the last few years it's really expanded but at the expense of now you feel like you're getting ripped off at every opportunity. Like £6 for a pint of punk IPA. It used to be a very simple setup. Now there are loads of shops, but none of which I would choose to shop at given the prices. Used to be a reasonable place to buy whisky. Now I see they are quoting your saving on a £35 bottle Vs high street is ... One penny. Well, thanks for that. Think I'll give it a miss. Suffice to say, I preferred the smaller, less complicated and definitely less rip- off older version of Edinburgh airport.
s. c.
BA check in great, security heaving, luckily we were fast track. BA lounge very good
L. T.
The airport is easy to navigate around, signs everywhere to show you what section you should be in for departures. The airport could be cleaner.
S. H.
Easy to use airport, good facilities.🚍 Bus transfer to car parks improved as drop point is now a lot nearer the terminal entrance for all operators. Beware high prices for close terminal passenger drop! Best to use free long stay car park passenger drop/collect facility that involves use of free transfer bus.🚊Tram & 🚍 bus service to Edinburgh central efficient & very close to terminal. Car parks are numerous & run by various operators that can be expensive but on a par with similar sized airports. Plenty of food & drink outlets, usual airport prices. Large concourse once airside with good views of apron activities & plenty of seating. Not to far to even the most distant gates, moving walkways to eastern gates. Numerous 🚘 car hire companies. Good terminal wide WiFi coverage.
p. c.
Excellent airport. Great experience. No issues at all.
M. V.
Nice airport. Cleanliness is good, not too complicated to get to your gates.
e. s.
Not the Edi I remember. Bit smelly and dirty outside. Understand staff are there for everyone's safety, but did not appreciate being verbally accosted by 1 member. Not exactly the professional manner you normally expect. Come on Edinburgh get your standards back!
S. H.
Easy to navigate round the airport, a few places to eat and drink.
S. B.
Was good had a Costa and was on my way to board plane, staff are helpfull from Qatar Airline
K. M.
Wonderfully every one so helpful beautiful place
D. C. M.
Very long walks through busy areas. But the tram is now connected to the airport. Huge queues through security during summer holiday season so allow plenty of time 40 to 50 minutes.
E. P.
Very efficient airport friendly staff and a quick process through security.
G. N.
Been over in Edinburgh for a couple of days so got to experience this as both the arrival and departure.
On both instances I’ve found the airport to be very modern, clean and with great staff. When departing, there were absolutely no people at security and we went straight through. The guys there were with smiles on their faces, joking and chatting. It was so lovely and rare to see in the airports.
We did find that there wasn’t much to do there (probably due to Covid) as most places past security were closed. However there’s free wifi and a lot of seating so as long as you don’t mind finding something to do, it’s actually not that bad.
V. S.
I love departing from this airport!! It’s my favourite!!
j. s.
Busy, but passed through security checks quickly. Staff were polite and helpful.
S. W.
Small airport - does the job - staff are pleasant - nice EDINBURGH sign outside - Car rentals is a bit of a walk with heavy luggage in tow. All in all - a fine experience.
M. A.
Pros: Security line probably the fastest in the industry. I feel a bit like a piece of kit on an assembly line, but never mind: It beats queueing in a serpentine line for an hour. Check in is pretty fast as well, which means you really don't need to arrive to the airport hours early, as with some airports. Honestly, this alone is worth all 4 stars. Cons: 1) Why is there no covered walkway from the parking garage -- especially now that a taxi cannot drop you in front of the terminal? It *is* Scotland after all. We do have weather. 2) You cannot escape the Duty Free shop -- there is literally no path to the gates that does not take you through aisles and aisles of booze, beauty and tourist rubbish. Outrageous. 3) But really the worst is the "signage" (ahem) -- see the photo. Is there any evidence here whatsoever of direction to the gates? No? Didn't think so. Unless you are desperate to do even more shopping, that is. I guess the idea is to send the hapless traveler back into Duty Free for directions. And another opportunity to buy overpriced whisky.
L. M.
Tidy and welcoming. Bit of a struggle to find the airlink into town but very helpful staff directed us.
M. C.
Had good range of shops / eating places. Good disabled toilets.
C. M.
Good airport for both international andinternal flight.Good conection to Edinburgh and Glasgow bus station very close to terminal.
J. V.
No problems through customs/security.
Helpful staff all the way.
T. R.
Very quick and efficient security checks, unlike Birmingham Airport
A. B.
Edinburgh Airport.
Edinburgh Airport is located in Edinburgh, Scotland, the 8th largest airport in the United Kingdom. The airport is 8 miles west of Edinburgh city center. This airport is nice and clean and at the time I landed there, this airport is quite busy and at the immigration, the officer speak English with their specific dialect, yeah I could understand but sometimes I said sorry and ask for repeating what he said.
Most of the tourist who would like to explore starting their trip from Edinburgh then goes down to some places like Etna Green, Manchester, etc ended in London.
There's an airport train station not so far from the exit door if you would like to ride on it to the city center, or you may take a bus, To find the bus just walk outside from the airport train station.
I. M.
Busy as would seem everyone making up for 2 years with no vacation. Parking your car far too expensive.
A.
Good airport overall, but the wheel chair service could be better.
S. T.
Excellent friendly staff, no security queues, clean toilets, easy to find your way about
C. P.
Going through security and tablet went missing. Usual questions 'are you sure it was in the tray?". Asked them to check the image on the scanner and it turned up 10 mins later. It was busy at the time.
T. C.
A nice clean airport with a fair few shops and restaurants to eat in . Everyone here seems so friendly and welcoming definitely a place to stop off and enjoy a transfer flight with out to much chaos going on .
D. d. V.
The airport itself is great, but the check-in could be handled a little more seamlessly. The need for self check in and self bag tagging doesn't work well and travellers waist time where it could've been handled a lot more efficiently by trained staff
T. G.
Came in with no luggage and checked in, security and boarder control were over in 20 minutes
E. S.
Remember it takes longer to get a boarding pass. Staff great but they have to check a lot of bits of paper
s. i.
Lovely airport, clean. Loads of food places and toilets.
Easy and cheap way to get from London to Edinburgh
And then an hour drive to Dundee.
Never really any issues.
But had an immigration officer wanting to share his migraine with me and my wife.
Over our liquids
But he let us off after the queue started to pile up behind us
A.
my most fav airport , although its not that big but you have everything you would need , also the only airport i have ever been (out of hundreds ) that offer drinking water taps. Also staff is super efficient they clear up quueues real fast even in busiest of period and very professional with no fuss. Also like the new dyson hand dryer in washrooms make so much sense. Currys here give real good deals on electronics esp on apple products
A. B.
This time not good ... one number wrong on our Spanish health form which we could have done again while we were waiting for the plane as it would be checked again before we boarded but no ......so after we completed the form again online twice taking around 20 minutes we was too late to check in luggage......the words from the check in staff "you can throw your luggage away and still make the plane ". . .thanks Ryanair staff . .. so second time after booking again everything ok . . . The Airport itself is great and had no problems . .
R. R.
Very Good: water taps to fill bottles airside; welcoming attitude amongst almost all staff, even immigration.
Very bad: safe pedestrian routes to airport hotels and their bus stops
H. W.
Quick and simple to use twilight check in for case saving queuing in early hours of the morning.
K. M.
Extremely busy airport and far to hot, people were all complaing about the heat in the building.
j. r.
Beautiful.airport, full of shops and restaurants which are open and have covid guards in place, they are fully stocked and ready to go despite there being not much foot traffic there. Staff are friendly as it is low traffic and low stress, good time to travel if its a safe place to.go
E. G.
Awesome !!! Very clean, but it's a bit too many stairs. Hehehe
D. W.
I'm not a fan of airports I'm afraid. Edinburgh is no better or worse than any of the others.
G. S.
Lovely airport. I have used it several times.
Nice and clean.
Z. L.
Small and efficient airport. The Airlink 100 from airport to city have fantastic view on the upper deck. Buying a return fare is cheaper.
J. H.
Arrived there on 747 bus from Halbeath and unlike our previous experience and much to our delight, it dropped us at the terminal buildings instead of dropping us outside the tram terminus from which we had quite a long walk to the terminal.
M. O.
Great Airport! Very easy to get around in. Staff was not very helpful when we asked how we call an Uber. They said They didn't know what that was and that it didn't exist in Scotland. Later on we found that it did. Very disappointed in that.
K. C.
Now that things are getting back to normal it's definitely one of the best airports I've been to. Loads of food choices and good quality shops to pick things up
C. l. G.
Pickup and drop off infrastructure is a work in progress but works fine enough.
A. P.
Well organised especially for special assistance. Large airport with plenty to look at.
P. F.
👌 easy when arriving from domestic flight in the UK to get out of the airport
C. C.
Small but a busy airport. Plenty of shops and restaurants.
Security check is not very quick, need have have some time in advance.
A. d.
Staff in security and all the shops were so friendly and helpful....worlds apart from Heathrow.
M. B.
One of the best Airports in the world 🌍
F. B. (.
Small airport with friendly staff. Flight was on time, good little selection of shops considering the size of the airport. Security was very quick to pass through.
M. R.
Not as stressful for a first time visit everything was quick and smooth, would advise queues build pretty quick so give yourself plenty time for this to allow time through security and boarding gates, pleasant experience overall
M. R.
Generally a good experience but some difficulties. The wi-fi and mobile signal is poor in some areas. Signage is good but patchy. For example, gate 3 which is a long way from the others had nothing to confirm your at the correct gate and no departures board.
J. C.
Not too busy at the moment. Everything looking good.
N. M.
Crowded but everything moves at a good pace. Clean and organized as always.
I. C.
Bit of a queue at passport control but nothing horrendous.
N. F.
The directions to access the airport and in the terminal itself are very well indicated, although the entrances to the parking lot are a bit confusing. The airport is very well adapted to security and safety measures by Covid 19 and airports in general. The checks are quick and there are many lines to check in. The only bad thing is how expensive the parking is. Not counting if you get confused and enter the drop-off area ...
j. b.
Such an easy place to leave from no hassle parking relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful staff and weatherspoons has reopened so a choice of 2 bars again
D. X.
In my opinion they should really do try and put some money on refurbishing the airport. I arrived a bit earlier than should and had no place to sit at the check in point and could only find one at the arrivals gate.
Á. Ó.
One of the best airports i've ever been. Check-in can be crowded during holiday season, however the security is extremely efficient.
Restaurant options after security is not the best. Shops and quick food/coffee places are great.
Easy to access to and from the city by the tram or the Airlink bus. Or use uber/private hire/black cabs.
A. H.
A little concerned travelling through the airport given covid restrictions as well as travelling with Ryanair to Greece!Ryanair staff really helpful with was a pleasant surprise.Lines were short at security and we were in the bar in 20 minutes after arrival at terminal.Wetherspoons rrasonably priced for an airport bar
J. L.
Early flight so easy hassle free travel. Used the Tram from Edinburgh which was a 1st for me.
Great service from British Airways and arrived at destination ahead of schedule
J. A.
When ever I return to Edinburgh Airport from abroad it always feels like you have flown into a 3rd world country on the arrivals side. Rubbish strewn on external walk way's, makeshift fixtures, walls and fittings as you move to immigration. Even the way border control behave and dress doesn't compare to other experiences.
Departure side is a lot more upbeat (money to be made) but always in some state of change.
J. M.
Covid19 safety . Very reassured to see 99%+ people masked with fitted masks at Edinburgh Airport. Observed 2 people politely asked to wear one by staff, unenforceable, maybe exempted, but worth saying as supportive for maj.of listening passengers. Loos working and clean. All enabled me to simply lower my risk by snacking outside on steps near tram area, prepare re forms/carry on to avoid check in and wait away from people at unused gates. Pity Ryanair kept 20 + in crowded boarding tunnel!
tube
L. M.
We arrived late after flight delayed. Most if airport shut and huge queue for taxis which were few and far between them. Eventually went for the 200 bus. Tram also regular.
S. B.
Travelled with my two daughters and son-in-law. Youngest daughter in a leg brace and on crutches. The Easy Jet staff and other airport staff were amazingly helpful and kind. A marvellous service!
F. R.
Busy. BA check in pleasant but understaffed. Security slow for some.
D. W.
Edinburgh airport is nice. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are good facilities. However there is very little else to do and you can find it difficult to kill time, but then it is an airport it's not meant to be exciting.
s. w.
Nice friendly airport to come into. Staff there are always welcoming.
R. M.
Edinburgh airport is getting old. I have to climb 3 sets of stairwells to get to the border control area and the conveyor belts are close to be deemed as dangerous. It is quiet and usually the personnel is nice.
M. C.
Quiet Christmas Day at Edinburgh Airport.
G. H.
Early start on way out with not much open but got as coffee till spoons opened for brekky and on way back everything moved along at a good pace considering COVID 👍
P. W.
Very busy but efficient. Very nice shops. Staff all helpful.
R. P.
Edinburgh Airport were short staffed and meant quite a delay in luggage arriving.
M. M. S. B.
All good, a little out of police personal for the customs
C. W.
Great airport everything runs smoothly except easy jet no respect for their passengers especially with disabilities
S. W.
Nice airport. Helpful staff. Good shopping.
A. M.
Surprisingly busy today considering the travel situation. A good number of shops closed. Plenty of hand gel stations around. Felt safe.
C. m. g.
I VERY AM LIKE AIR PORT BEACUS VERY FAST AND VERY NICE LOOKS AROUND THANK YOU
M. W.
Well...very pleasant...security a breeze with a queue of me...so that took no time. Costa fully stocked and a queue of me waiting for coffee....and gate was a pleasant boarding experience...all the passengers waited their turn..that was me...and I wore a mask so very covid compliant. Once on board I took my seat along with no one else and off we went. Lovely airport experience. But if more people don't start using it it will be a biplane on a grass lawn soon....Mon!
C. H.
I've always had a great experience here!! I have no idea why it would have bad reviews. Everyone is pretty much the friendliest people I've ever met that work for an airport...so happy, nice, fun, relaxed, and understanding! I always encounter really strict and unfriendly staff at the London airport, but in Edinburgh they are the opposite. Love flying in and out of this airport!!
J. S.
All went very easy going through the airport this morning 👍
D. M.
It was fine. Security was quick even though the metal in my leg and head caused havoc at security.
J. C. K.
Used this airport a few times not as friendly as Glasgow by a long way the check in staff could not care less about helping/ advising you so if we had a choice it would be another airport also to use their facilities is a rip is a beer £5:40 (October 2021) even the girls serving say never ending complaints a captive customer!!!
C. D.
Everything was excellent apart from the airport Internet which was not working and not for the first time
S. B.
I always find Edinburgh Airport much more light and open than Glasgow. Still not much open but you can at least get a cup of coffee and a newspaper. And your duty free, of course... 😉
E. C.
I wanted to share my experience with Express Test as part of my mandatory PCR Covid Test prior to international travel. I was able to easily book my test through their online portal and there were lots of available slots to choose from. When i arrived at the airport, it was very well sign posted with no problems finding it. I arrived 45 minutes early due to public transportation timing and they kindly accommodated me to take my test early. They were kind and quick, and put me at ease for the slightly uncomfortable test. Result were received in PDF format (well laid out and easy to read) within 24 hrs. Excellent service all around...well done Express Test at Edinburgh Airport !
