Reviews of London City Airport
M. R.
Small but charming local City airport. You won’t be hearing the loud speakers going off every minute. You as the flyer have to pay attention to the screens to locate your gate and know when your flight will take off. Small shops and restaurants once you pass through security. The only funny thing is that as a passenger, you will feel the G’s (G force) as your plane takes off super fast (not bad, but funny). Overall, loved the experience.
S. T.
Very nice small convenient airport. Staff was friendly service was good... quick and easy served by big carriers with comfortable aircraft.
s. m.
Really nice airport and convenient to travel into on public transport. More importantly the staff working at the airport are very friendly and go over and above their duties. I saw a lady at security today helping a passenger who has taken too much toiletries to pack them in the small plastic bag. Nowadays when traveling involves a bit more hassle, it’s experience like this that really makes a difference. Thank you to all the staff at City Airport!
F. M.
Beautiful airport. Staff is very kind, courteous and always ready to help all the customers. Clean and tidy place. Kids friendly place. Family friendly place also. Well located. Well connected area by trains and roads.
A. C.
This airport would be good if the security was sorted out. Totally different protocols to every other airport in the UK which manages to confuse everyone, including most of the staff working there. Give yourself at least 40 minutes to go through security.
J. T.
Great little airport just to the east of Central London, bag drop and security was straight forward. Staff helpful and friendly.
J. d.
My favourite airport into London, make sure to take a windowseat and enjoy the view over the city. Unfortunately with Covid and travel restrictions the airport feels like a ghost town, there were just 2 outbound flights in the hour of my departure, with no more than some 25 people on my flight. Looking forward to busier times, hope it won't get as overcrowded as it was before Covid.
S. C.
Fantastic airport. Efficient staff throughout the airport. So easy for us to get to. Highly recommend. Check out the fares vs hassle and travel factor.
T.
It's small size makes it cosy and efficient. However, due to Covid-19, many cafes and restaurants have closed, and as there are no airport lounges, either, the experience can be frustrating, especially if flights get delayed. Particularly puzzling is that there are no water fountains in the main terminal - the only one I could find is far out at gate 8, and it's poorly maintained, as indicated by a red light suggesting that the filter should have been replaced a while ago. With the major putting up water fountains all over the city in order to avoid the use of water bottles, it's bizarre why LCY seems to try to force you to buy them!
s. h.
Easy to get to by train. Walk straight from train platform to checkin desk. Security no problem unlike Norwich airport. Departure area good with room to sit but when no covid it may be a bit tight.
H. R.
Definitely turn up earlier here than you would have before - hand luggage doesn't get you out of the check in queue and security is much much slower than it used to be (otherwise still a very small, convenient airport obv)
L. C.
A compact airport in the heart of East London that provides friendly staff and is easy to navigate. The connection with the DLR station is seamless and due to its size, it makes travelling easier compared to bigger airports. The staff are helpful and security are not as heavy-handed as other airports. There are not too many shops, but this is due to the short flight nature of the travel on offer. The self-service points are simple to use. If you live in the area it is a go-to option for painless travel.
P. S.
Great for locals. Nice ppl working in and around the airport especially the senior gentleman who works in the drop off area of the airport. Very helpful as I was dropping off my disabled mother.
P. S.
Great experience, flying here from Dublin. No passport checks or need to do a covid test as within the common travel area. Very quick to get into central London on the DLR.
V. B.
Small, efficient, centrally located. Destinations seem geared to financial hubs with some holiday spots sprinkled in. Best way in and out of London, but if you need flexibility a major hub like LHR is superior.
T. T.
In times of Covid-19 still an unbeatably short check-in & security check. Staff are competent and friendly. A stress-free experience and the 'Casablanca' feel when crossing the airfield to board the plane.
K. B.
Sure it's small, without many amenities. But this is the airport for efficiency. I arrive no earlier than an hour before take off and even that ends up being too soon! Bish bosh bash, security is a breeze takes less than 15mins from entering the airport to your gate. DLR has a direct walkway to the terminal. Wonderful convenience, if you can get a flight from City instead of Gatwick/Heathrow/Stanstead or the dreaded Luton, its worth the extra ££
L. D.
The most convenient airport for business in The City, it saves me hours each travel allowing me to spend working half day in Dublin and half in London same day. Small but well organized and we'll kept. The only defect is a business lounge isn't available as far as I know but one should consider the whole airport a sort of businesses oriented space, plenty of public tables and seats with plugs for computer and phones. Very good WiFi service. My preferred airport in London.
C. J. T.
Super efficient, no two hours before boarding nonsense. Careful with Ubers as airport charges them to stop outside forcing them through car park incurring a charge, passed onto you. Best to pick one up outside station.
J. A.
I love flying from LCY! I live on the opposite side of the metropolis, but 1½hrs after leaving my front door, I'm seated flight-side having a coffee!! This is surely how flying was in the 1950's?
S. A.
Love this airport...so efficient and effective
M. A.
Good
Just be aware that there is a camera on the approach road with ANPR so if your dropping off there is a tunnel on the other side you can walk straight in to the Airport.
D. M.
I use this aipoet because it is small and easy to get to.
Planes have 2 seats either side, so you don't have to be squeezes in between strangers or share a 3rd seat with one
R. A.
Small airport, very busy, feels very claustrophobic however, it is without doubt my favourite airport in the UK.
Quick check in, quick security, great facilities for a small airport and plenty of choice for food before your flight.
British Airways staff are excellent here, I don’t think there is a lounge here but it’s such a relaxed procedure I’m not overly bothered.
Easy access from London City centre with DLR access on the doorstep.
Take off and landing is always fun due to short runway. Would highly recommend.
S.
Small and convenient airport located in Newham. The security check is done fairly quick and there is no wait.
G. P.
Slick. Silent airport policy so no noisy announcements in speakers - worked for a couple of hours and had some calls without any inconvenience. Flew down from Glasgow, full day in the office, back home by half nine. Happy days.
D. A.
London City airport is great if it's an easy trip to get to - If you're in Canary Wharf, for example.
It's small, fast to get through, good for short hops (to Paris for example) and surprisingly good for long hops too (a direct flight to NY via a quick pitstop in Shannon, for instance)
But avoid its website like the plague, for booking flights.
First because it's ancient technology, and is always getting glitches.
And second because when it is working,it's regularly more expensive to buy through this website than to buy direct on the airline website. City Airport is a cracking little airport and if the cost difference isn't great I'd fly from there all the time.
a. a.
Optimal airport if you are a business traveler. Directly in the heart of London, once out of the airport you can catch the DLR to reach Victoria station in 25 minutes. Really convenient. The airport is small but really nice with all the comforts you need especially if you are a business man. The passport and security control can count on few lanes but everything were done easily and quickly. Inside there are several facilities to eat, to drink even a small beauty saloon. All the bar/restaurant are rather upscale. There is also a mini market. Very good experience. The only complaint is that it was a little bit too crowded but it's because of the small size of the terminal.
r. m.
Best London Airport. Check in, security, and immigration all so quick and easy. Friendly staff. Once you tried this you won't go back to Heathrow unless you have to
J. M.
Pretty shambolic experience. BA kiosks not working so massive queue to check in. Luggage belts stopped working so had to bring my suitcase to oversized luggage to check it in. Escalators not operational. 1 of 2 security belts broken down. Over zealous security - more bags being pulled aside for checks than being put through (including mine), 7 people ahead of me all with bags to be checked, security staff sauntering around at a snail's pace chatting to each other rather than going through the multiple trays of luggage to be checked (not like anyone has a flight to catch), finally have my bag checked only to find there was nothing amiss and no reason to have been kept waiting 20 mins to retrieve it. Arrived 1.5 hrs before my flight and very nearly missed it. Sort out your equipment and re-train/replace security staff - security should of course be top priority, however having inefficient staff keeping passengers from getting to their flights is unacceptable.
M. D.
A good airport to fly out of - even if you have to pay extra - since it beats the commute to Heathrow.
G. L.
Flying from this airport is so much nicer and better than the many other airports that surround London.
Whether you are landing or taking off the views of the city are amazing.
If I could do all my flights to London to this airport I would only the cost is always that much higher.
Z. A. S.
Location wise is Serinic and awesome, yet small but very personal and the staff are excellent. After having a Vueling flight to Gatwick cancelled we were put on a BA flight to London City. Our car was at Gatwick but Karen at customer services went out of her way to get us a tax at a good price. Also passport control was quick and staff very friendly. Would not hesitate using this airport again and for sure, strongly recommended for all to travel through this also.
M. K.
Even though lcy is lacking a lounge it does make up for it with the sheer convenience of location as well as efficiency of check in to gate experience
V. B.
It is another Airport in London apart from Heathrow, Gatwick. Scenic beauty is awesome in this airport as River Thames is flowing parallel to runway.
A. B.
Arrived, through and out really fast. So fast we were outside before the plane was supposed to have landed!
M. V.
Awesome airport. I’ve never had such an efficient bag check or checkin in my life. I arrived late and from entering airport to getting on plane can’t have been over twenty minutes. A real luxury compared to Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton or in fact any other U.K. airport I’ve used.
M. R. L. M.
It's a great hub ! A very compact Airport and very little walking required to be out and on the Docklands Light Railway. We were in our hotel, near Hyde Park Corner, in underan hour after landing
C.
A trip short to Guernsey and the whole experience and process were very smooth. The check-in lady was very helpful and friendly reminder me to take my electronic vape out of my check-in luggage. Thank you to the staffs. :)
H. “.
If you're headed to Europe from London (or vice versa) this is a great choice of airport. The caveat to that is winter as low fog and mist can close the short runway down, something that tends to not afflict its larger siblings. The morning commuter flights can have long security lines but they move fast so don't be put off. There are plenty of food options past security but no lounges so you can busy yourself in the shops or make use of plentiful seating that usually comes with handy power outlets.
A. Q.
Convenient airport with fast security and quick walks to the gates. Some shops and facilities are still closed which leaves limited food and drink options however for fast transit through an airport, City Airport is the best.
t. h.
Just so easy to check in with friendly staff. Best airport in London
R. A.
Very clean, fast boarding, great facilities and kind staff! Thanks LCY
A. D.
First time flying in a few months. Have to say, the luggage drop, security process is as hassle free as it has always been. Only the Nero, Whsmith and Boots currently open as of 26th July.
Lots of sanitiser points around and all seemed very clean.
B. M.
Lovely Airport. So easy to check in and staff very pleasant. Nice and small a nice change from the larger Airports.
N. M.
Went to go do mine and my family's PCR test.. However one member of staff was a little bit rude when she told us to social distance but when we said we were one family she became sarcastic and told us surely the whole line can be out family. Other then that other members of staff were really nice and made it run fast and smooth
J. D.
London City is an ideal travel port for quick access to London's City Center. Frequented by business travellers who are coming and going, it's still not an overly crowded airport and the lines for check+in and security are very reasonable.
w.
This was our first time using LCY...
I've been to 4 out of the 6 airports linked to London before City, i did find London City Airport one of the more chilled compared to the others, not sure if it was based on the time or day we used its service but that's just my opinion.
The thing was, before you pass through the checks and what not, there's a limited space of seating, there are some, just not enough if you were to get there super early but once you move pass that section, that problem is no longer an issue.
The location was perfectly fine, getting here was simple for us at least, we used the DLR but there are a couple of other routes you could think about, like the local busses or via road access, seeing you can park there via their short/long-term car park.
*Just a quick note, they are currently building a new pier in London’s Royal Wharf, so that could be a option in the near future and it will be run by MBNA Thames Clippers.
Staff were nice and helpful when we needed help with a few things which is great to see, although we didn't expect nothing less.
In conclusion, we had a nice experience and would more than likely use this service again if we're planning to visit some of the destinations that are provided via LCY.
Y. K. P.
A very small airport which is fantastically located in London. It is a well connected airport in terms of transport communications. Access via the London Tube, buses, car and taxi is available. The airport is small and does not really offer much of a retail experience, this is especially a problem when your flight is delayed. However I must say the staff were brilliant, really helpful and extremely welcoming throughout all my times there.
N. S.
Small airport, well organised with excellent location. I travelled after Christmas and it was very quiet and relaxing, no queues, plenty of seating, clean. It is my favourite airport in UK due to its convenient location.
W. L.
I just passed through here recently.
They have remodeled the main passenger areas and added much more seating and tables.
Very happy with these changes and they make it feel much more professional.
I. L.
I had a pint of beer for 7. 50. That tells all. However the airport is extrenely convenient and simple to navigate
P. W.
I will always prefer to use this fantastic airport if I can although it adds an extra 40mins to my journey over Stansted, smal, efficient well organised and calm, makes trips that little bit better and less stressful
N. H.
Nice airport. No gates announcements as this is the rule there.
V. D.
Insanely quick entrance and exit through this airport, especially in the covid times. Very convenient airport.
H. G.
Small but charming local City airport. small airport but but great location and best staff
S.
Easy boarding and really nice security staff unlike Heathrow! Both of our bags got inspected further as we accidentally left a bottle of liquid in there and they were really understanding and nice to us rather than interrogating us for a mistake. I’ll try to travel from here more often if they allow more flights!
A. J. J.
It's a small airport but you can enjoy every service as you see in a large. A little bit dirty free area is here and many cafes and restaurants are provided. Sometimes you should go outside for taking an airplane from the gate.
H. d. V.
Quick, from entering airport via check in, security and getting to the gate was 15 minutes. Some shops take the Mickey with prices, some are more affordable.
Overall positive experience.
E. M.
Really nice small airport, staff is polite and professional.
N. C.
Quick, simple, not crowded. Perfect airport to get out of London if you can make it work.
M. Z.
Such an easy and pleasant travel experience as always.
J. G.
First time I've flown from this airport and I must say that it's one of the best in london. Managed to print my own bag tag, sailed though security and had a best seat in the departure lounge with all the aircraft coming and going. Hope my flight will be from this airport again in the future
m. h.
Great little airport right in the city
Earliest check in is 2 hours prior to your flight so don’t arrive any earlier
Small planes & good for Europe business trips
t.
Nice small airport, in the city, close to the DLR (Docklands Light Railway), in an up-and-coming neighbourhood of London. The airport is located close to a large road, near a marina, the ExCel Center and the O2. It's usually used for small to medium routes.
N. A.
I think this is the best London airport. Easy fast access from anywhere in the city and easy painless boarding every time. This may change when things get busy. Will be great when the services open up and we can have refreshments.
M. C.
convenient. small. simple to navigate. helpful staff. reasonable shopping for size of airport.
P. F.
In my opinion, this is a very convenient airport right in the city. It's a pity that there aren't many options to travel to different locations. It's very limited. Perhaps because it is a small airport. And with the pandemic crises not many flights are required.
f. m.
Convenient airport to get to. Pick up is quite pricey. £18.50 for 20 minutes
I. D.
Very smooth and efficient exit from the aeroplane, through sufficient e-gates and out very quickly. Baggage was delivered promptly too. Pickup for uber was small walk away from exit. Will always consider in future.
P. A.
Very smooth flow through the airport. Check-in, bag drop and security all very simple. Good facilities when airside. On-time departure. What's not to like.
H. S.
LCY - one of the busiest airport in the UK but see its present
C. G.
Wonderful London 😍 🌈Love ❤🇬🇧
S. K.
Easy access.has great signage.parking is easy and not overly expensive if you time your journey.
L. F.
A well organised and managed airport. Nicely laid out with a good selection of food outlets and facilities
E. E.
Absolutely love this airport! It's so quick to get through security and once in its a tiny airport so no long walks to your gate. Defiantly my favourite airport.
D. W.
More families than there used to be, especially on weekends. Generally less.organised and not quite as efficient when it is predominantly business travellers.
D. P.
Favourite airport in the world. Great location on the DLR and always efficient
D. P.
Normally this airport is brilliant. Infact I would say bar some silly travellers it's the best airport in London.
Which makes it all the more annoying when some overzealous security person flags my jacket for having a small lip balm not in the clear liquids bag. Even though I travel a LOT and have flown with the exact same lip balm over 20 times and, well, you know, it's not liquid.
Then I have to wait behind people while they check all the people who left 500ml bottles of water in their bags wasting my time for, nothing.
Even the woman who had to run it back through the scanner looked at me like "um, yeh, sorry about that".
Good airport, experience spoiled by stupid security staff member.
D. R.
My first time through LCA and it was easy to navigate and check in. Plenty of refreshment vendors airside, and plenty of seating in the main area and at the gates. It's very convenient to my home location and I will definitely travel through here again in the future.
D. M.
As with other UK airports, the exorbitant charges for picking someone up are ridiculous. Parking at rail stations further away is just as bad as there are extremely limited parking availability or none, and again ridiculous parking charges.
S. B. P.
Such a great airport, and really convenient if you live in the city!👌🏻
So quick to get from bag drop to boarding gate.
Great views over London on takeoff and landing!
E. v. d. B.
Small and efficient airport. Excellent location to Canary Warf and the city center. Only disadvantage is the small and crowded central hall where one has to wait until the few screens show which gate to board.
m. l.
Location location location & train ticket machines r so useful 4 my journey! C2C trains where I begin my journey should take heed.
J. C.
Smooth check in and quick and easy coming back through passport control
B. S.
Great Airport for national and international connections, fantastic atmosphere inside with fine shops, restaurants, friendly and professional service
D. O.
Brilliant little airport courteous and friendly staff very helpful, spotlessly clean.
Cleaners work very hard in trying times, very well run and efficient.
B. G.
Great little local airport only flying smaller planes but to an excellent array of destinations. Slightly dearer to fly from than Heathrow, Gatwick it the other London airports, but for convenience- it can not be beaten! The Munich route has just reopened having been discontinued many years ago, this has pleased me very much! Continuing with its large expansion plans will ensure its growth for decades. Highly recommended!
B. B.
Cute airport, efficient border control and luggage delivery. And tbh, really good location for London.
R. S.
Clean , quick , staff are friendly and helpful.
J. R.
My favourite London airport. In fact, it's the one airport that's actually in London 🤣
Given a choice between London City, London Gatwick, London Heathrow or London Stansted... it's a no-contest no-brainer decision when it comes to booking flights.
N.
Great airport with speedy security and superb staff 👍
G. C.
Great airport in the heart of London, easy access and super simple to navigate around, would highly recommend.
M. W.
Convenient inner-city airport in the heart of London.
M. W.
Not too shabby. Will do in a pinch. The plane landed and I walked away safe and sound. So what more do you want?
V. S.
Great location and short queues! Best airport in London
p. F.
I refuse to use the horrible "Deathrow" or "Gutwork" airports! They are the worst I have ever seen!
However, London City Airport have always been polite and helpful. They treat you like a passenger, not a potential terror risk!
A. C. C.
Small airport, ideal to get to the centre by train. Very efficient every time I used it.
J. S.
Very nice airport situated in a very picturesque location. Small and not too great for connection flights but if just coming in and out of London then there are excellent transport links to the City, including the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). A much nicer travel experience than Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted
I. A.
Arrived on time, no queues, helpfull staff, pcr test on site although booking by Collison very complicated
S. R.
Clean, quick, quiet , polite & helpful employees. Would defo use again. Great first impression.
E. G.
Due Covid only passengers can enter the airport or people for the pcr test center. One can only enter 2hrs before departure for check-in. Check-in was a bit slow mainly because they need to check so much per passenger Security was quick .Boarding smoothly.Absolute fine airport with the public transport just upstairs DLR.
R. Ř.
A very nice smaller airport.
Friendly staff.
Not bad connection to the center.
J. G.
Small airport in docklands area not too crowded usual airport facilities good services.
T. H.
Hands-down my favourite airport - friendly staff, swift procedures, hassle-free.
H. R.
Favourite airport. Tiny, which means you can arrive 25 mins before departure and safely make your flight. Well-connected with the DLR, and you can walk from gate to aircraft stand -- not something that can be said of many airports nowadays. Aircraft to DLR in 10 mins for those with ePassports.
R. N.
It's a very convenient Airport, It is very quick and you don't have to walk for miles to the gate.
Security check is very quick as well and when coming to land at LCY, if lucky, depends from where the plane is coming to land, you get a great view of London Tower Bridge, London eye, Shard, square mile etj.
I strongly recommend this Airport.
J.
Only flew out but was very simple. Adequate facilities as you wolf expect but brilliant panoramic window Vries of the tarmac. Perfect for aviation lovers like me!
A. M.
Best small airport anywhere. Awesome.
R. M.
Quick, simple, no fuss, nice pint, can't go wrong
A. A. A. S.
Best airport in London. Quick getaway
T. P.
Great airport very quick through to the plane.
S. A.
Small airport but great customer service friendly staff shout queue
Quick service
Definitely recommend
H. A.
Small buf perfectly located and equipped airport with a very good connection to the heart of London👍
T. P.
Great little airport. Always use it when I can travel from it
j. p.
Just a pickup, but boy are they milking the charges for doing so at the pickup area. £3.80 for 5 mins. Then only one gate open to exit, so you wait longer than parked.
S. O.
It's a small but very useful airport. It doesn't only connect you to Europe, you can also take connecting flights to other popular destinations.
Security is quite strict and could be a little over the top.
Selection of stores are quite limited as well and eating places even more limited!!
I. G.
About as easy as airports get. Usually my preference if the route is available. Although tickets are often a little more and there's not much to do waiting (other than shop).
J. W.
Great Airport landed at 8.45pm through customs got our cases and out of airport by 9.10pm amazing 👏
R. M.
Pleasure to fly from.
Everything was well organized and efficient.
J. A.
London City Airport is a very nice place,
E. E.
Nice small airport, quick connection to the city.
T. S.
LCA is great airport for national and international flights. DLR station is quicky and easy to arrive from. The view is pleaseing.
F.
Small and easy to navigate. Would be nice to have shops other than 3 of almost the same coffee type business.
s. p.
Love City Airport, what a brilliant place for short hop flights - but have never seen it as empty as it was today - only 5 flights out!
Hopefully things pick up again soon!
A. A.
London City Airport, normally a bustling zone of activities was so still and silent this morning. No passengers,no flight officials just the Covid 19 Testing area was set up.
The taxi ramp had four solitary black cabs begging for patronage and just I and one other person were outside.
This scourge should just dissappear, its so devastating.
T. O.
Very quiet airport... Very close to Dartford.
d. g.
Simply the best airport in the whole wide world!
S. K.
Still not alot open at the airport.
Only just getting back up to speed
A. A.
Practical location, easy parking and Departure/ Arrival process. My favorite Airport in London
A. M.
Absolutely do not come here. It's too good to have too many people using it.
P. W.
Fast and efficient airport if your flights use it.
M. B.
On my way out to Europe (trying to get there and back before the brexit walls go up). Staff at airport were great, absolutely amazing service.
I accidentally flooded the toilet as well, but they weren't too bothered about it. Really forgiving staff, very accommodating. Apparently a guy before me had stuffed too much toilet paper down there, and when I flushed 3 or 4 times it caused a mess :-/
Not my fault, never mind. Great staff anyway.
S. J.
Very convenient especially as you can arrive 30 mins before the flight with checked luggage. Staff usually friendly and security has small queues which move fast. Not a huge amount of space to wait for flights and food options are limited and fairly expensive. For those travelling business there is no priority security or lounge access (there is a VIP lounge which charges extra even for BA club). Passport control can get very very busy
S. P.
Small and efficient. Commute time from the city via DLR is ~30m. The security takes 5-7m and say another 5m to the gate! Love it. Yes it could do with a refresh and a lounge but has since I can get in with less than hour to the flight is a non issue for me.
M. W.
very easy airport to transit through.
S. B.
1st time using City Airport, very easy and convenient! My son has just started university there, so between my son and family we will be travelling to and from Glasgow a lot! Hope BA keep their pieces keen!
P. D.
One of the easiest to use airports. Everything is speedy but security queues can be long.
No lounges, food is VERY expensive but captive audience on expenses will do that,
Feels very crowded at peak times in departures but if you've no luggage arrivals is a dream
Very well connected to transport links and plentiful supply of cabs
R. M.
Very climatic airport, short start and landing line make possiblity to use only middle size of aircraft and just some of the flight company flying hire. Mostly tickets are expensive but that may compensated time and traveling fee to other London's airports. Stuff friendly, bit long luggage checks.
J. V.
If you’re headed to Europe from London (or vice versa) this is a great choice of airport. The caveat to that is winter as low fog and mist can close the short runway down, something that tends to not afflict its larger siblings. The morning commuter flights can have long security lines but they move fast so don’t be put off. There are plenty of food options past security but no lounges so you can busy yourself in the shops or make use of plentiful seating that usually comes with handy power outlets.
e. b.
Very easy drop off and pick up no rip off charges like other London airports
S. T.
Great little airport. The check in / drop off and is quick and efficient and follow up progress to the gates is really smooth.
T. D.
The airport is really close from central London which is a real asset.
I like to travel in business when I can and there is no lounge but to be honest it's fine.
The main improvements to work on: please upgrade your website it's a disaster and offer more flights and it will be great.
R. J.
Easy to get to the parking space. Google Maps takes you directly to the place. Quite expensive parking (even more than Heathrow) Eg 30min-1hr = £15. Car park has colour marking zones: orange zone is for 1hr parking.
I. B.
I love this airport - so convenient and quick....
M. S.
Quiet with plenty of space - the restaurant and bars were shut, as were most of the shops, however if you would like an airport beer I think there is a coffee shop at the start of the walkway to gate 10 which stocks it.
D. J.
Great airport for businesses meeting. You get quickly around and can walk to ExCel and other work locations. Downside is that there is no on-site business lounge in the airport
M. F.
Great people... smooth security and you can grab a pint at "the city" what's not to love!!!
J. A.
Super friendly, fast and efficient. My six year old daughter and I went through check in and security easily without delay. Unfortunately our flight to Geneva was delayed by an hour and a half, but a friendly and helpful staff member named Mohan informed us that there is a play area for children by gate 5. He took the time to chat to my daughter and ask her about her skiing holiday, which cheered her up as she was disappointed about the delay. We were able to have a leisurely breakfast, do some shopping and have some playtime before boarding. I normally hate when my flight is delayed but it’s much more bearable in London City Airport.
I. V.
Easy airport to use, but lack of food choices.
J. M.
This airport is well designed. Simple and easy to get to using the DLR. You arrive in the airport and can take your public transport back home form the airport as well. Security is good and well displayed, access to the gates is easy and manageable even for a first-timer. No need to arrive too early as the capacity of the security control is quite large.
T. C.
Beer supplies need addressing, burger selection seems a little overloaded
E. D. A.
Small and nice airport. Security is a bit annoying with less resources then other airports, but all in all is ok.
Had a great experience looking for my gate - Mohan, customer experience host was there and saw me looking for my flight and immediately offered to help. My flight gate wouldn't show until 1 hour later, but with his knowledge and information from the airport, he was able to predict my gate so I could already make my way there and relax. Great service, super polite!!
O. P.
The City Airport is at first may seem tempting to flight from, due to its privileged location. Plus, it is convenient and your check-in and security processes are quick, even e-Passport gates are in use; you even have a first-class luxury lounge (Private Jet Centre) with a luxury price tag attached to it; still, this is not like at Heathrow. However, all this also comes with some direct and indirect caveats.
For obvious reasons, this airport cannot accommodate most standard-size aircraft, so a Dreamliner or even a much smaller Airbus A319 is unlikely to land here, not even in an emergency situation: this is where most issues arise.
For a starter and depending upon your destination, you are likely to flight on a smaller or propeller-driven airplane as the biggest allowed here is Airbus A318.
As a direct result and irrespective of favourable tailwinds, your flight would take longer and be bumpy, to say the least. These aircraft, typically, have a lower cruising altitude and may be more subject to winds, jet streams and other atmospheric conditions or otherwise adverse weather. This would further have an impact of your on-board overall experience and you should not expect business-class service, unless you are flying on a true business or executive flight. This will also condition your destination site, as it would mostly be a secondary airport or not your first choice, e.g. Charles-de-Gaulle versus Orly, for a flight to Paris, or worst with all that comes with it.
This is, maybe not quite in a nutshell, my personal view, and rating of this iconic airport, based on my experience flying from and to both domestic and international landing-places, as far as Stockholm’s Arlanda, in Sweden.
H. H.
Great location, I use very often this location is great. Excellent service all in all.
T. P.
Small aeroport, comfortable, quiet, peacefull.
A. J. M.
Super convenient and well-connected airport (both to the city itself, but to international destinations itself at reasonable price). Staff, even at the Security, is very kind and helpful and there's just enough restaurants and shops after security to keep you occupied. But let me get to the best part -- the waiting chairs; they are all equipped with 2 outlets (one UK and one EU) and two USB ports and a cup holder. Perfect for a hort wait before departing with your flight.
C.
Small airport, but nice. Very close to the city with a good connection by DLR. Good for short business trips.
J. C.
We love this airport, great efficiency, convenient, easy access to most European cities.
I. B.
Fab airport. Only place to land in London. Highly recommended.
M. J.
A soulless void of an airport whose only redeeming feature is its proximity to central London.
L. C.
Amazing hassle free airport easy to get too so you don't have to travel far like gatwick and heathrow.
M. V. D. D.
A nice small busy airport, especially if you are taking British Airways BA1 towards New York
a. a.
The size of the Airport is small which makes it easy and less time-consuming for security checks and access to gates. It is conveniently located, just a few steps from the train station. The check-in is easy breezy. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is food, travel accessories shop, bar etc. Will definitely travel again through this airport.
L. B.
Best airport in London! Wide range of shops and delicacies around, not to mention to the fun, interactive kids area - every child get a free booster pack which contains puzzles, colourings, and game cards for your children t use to their leisure whilst on the plane; the departure times were clearly displayed in huge screens, so that you know what time your flight is, and what gate is located at! Will definitely be coming here frequently
S. P.
Cute and convenient airport. Has own train station that is well integrated for a seamless transfer. Fair amount of options to snack preflight too.
A. K.
A modern well organized looking national airport. Check in sevice was quick and with good security. the departure lounge had most of the shopping outlets with good standard.
G. L.
We found City Airport more convenient than Heathrow for a quick trip into London. Passport control on arrival was much quicker than I have experienced at Heathrow (non Euro passport). There are of course much more limited shops and restaurant options on arrival or departure, but that suited us fine. The departures area became very crowded towards the evening with many business travellers heading home.
A. S. (.
Love city Airport, but lasr experience wasn't great, a/c leaked on me.....then Flight eventually cancelled 😞
J. O.
Very epic but why would you go to london? actully why why?
this is a lawless city ruled by the rat people no laws and only knifes so pretty epic but nah m8 i would rather go to detroit or not not sure
C. N.
Conveniently located small airport.
D. E.
Security a riot very expensive bar.
C. a.
My first visit to this airport as a cab driver i found the staff very friendly and helpful as i had an elderly gentleman who is disabled on board. I found the forecourt staff very helpful in getting a wheelchair and the two ladies that came to get him were very understanding.Hope i have more trips to this airport. C.W.APPS. from somerset.
J. P.
It’s actually one of the best airports I’ve ever visited only because of how small it is! Everything happens quickly and smoothly. Staff could be a bit more friendly but it’s no different than in most airports!
R. J.
Will definitely use City airport again very impressed with how efficient they are! 😊
M. B.
Nice airport! With the DLR (metro) you’re downtown very quickly. When flying back home and had no time to eat for dinner? Grab a hamburger at the restaurant just after customs. Not the cheapest in town, but very tasty. Around 20 euros for the burger, fries and water. Ordering a stripe of bacon for 4 euro’s wasn’t necessary.
A.
First time I flew from this airport and I'm very impressed. Much less time than average to get from the entrance to the gate, even at peak times! Currency Exchange staff were also friendly, and having the DLR on the doorstep was very convenient.
M. B.
Can't complain, really. Security was fast and unintrusive. Amenities were decent. (although food in restaurants was very over-priced). They have power sockets with many of the chairs in the departure lounge, which is a great feature. Finally, the views flying in and our of this airport are really spectacular. Worth using this airport for more than just the convenience - save money on a helicopter tour!
M. M.
Just not good enough. The airport is well connected, however some things let it down. There is a lack of choice of food, what is available is staggeringly expensive and not that good, must we continually be ripped-off by airports in this country?
Bags also take far too long to arrive, little point in going to a smaller airport if you're going to be waiting around at the baggage belt.
M. B. (. L.
Amazing. Small and very efficient airport in the centre of London.
S. D.
Small..quick check inns..efficient and lovely staff.
J. C.
The best airport for London. 5 minutes after landing you can be in a car on the way.... Departing they have practical and swift security checks... No room for lounges, direct to the gate and leave...! If you want libations many swift options... DLR is the quickest way into the City, Black Cab is the best option!
L. L.
The best airport in London. Small and easy to access. The staffs are great, well polity and helpful. I usually prefer to pay a little bit extra just to flight from City. The operational and border control team from Gatwick and Heathrow should come over here to get some training in how to treat all people with respect.
E. C.
Best airport - always so easy and seamless, I left an item in security and the staff were great retrieving it through lost property!! Super efficient and friendly ladies in Lost property
N. N.
My favorite airport in London and in the UK! It’s so easy to get there via the DLR trains. This airport is so much smaller than most airports, so once you get there, it’s so quick to get to where you need to go. I haven’t experienced any long queues yet, either at check in or at security. Only down side is that the seating areas are very limited and you can feel cramped in the waiting areas. Still, I enjoy how quick it is to get in and out of this airport.
e. O.
Very clean, everything is well laid out and navigating around is fantastically easy. Staff are friendly and helpful with so many coffee/convenient/clothes shops to gaze through. Just a great experience flying from and to.
It may cost a a little more as it is a private and small airport but definitely worth every penny extra !
S.
Extremely convient airport: from the time you walk in to you sitting in your flight,it might only take 15min, even at peak time.
I flew from there three times and it has always been a great experience from what you can expect from a small airport in close to central London
B. F.
Handy airport near to central London. Not the biggest due to location in London Docklands but plenty seating in departures, and at the gates when not in use. No lounge but that doesn't really matter.
Easy connection to DLR (if only the DLR trains were longer), which then connects with London Underground and onwards to National Rail - much simpler than from other London Airports.
M. M.
It is the only airport in London where you can be waiting for your train in Woolwich at 5:30am and having your breakfast past security at 5:45. Lower volume of human traffic means quicker and better service. BY FAR the best airport in London. One down side - when flying conditions get funky, flights close before any other airport
A.
Such a small but useful airport situated near good business spots in Greater London. Also has amazing planespotting if you are an enthusiast like me!
N. W.
Departure lounge is like a refugee camp! Cut the number of flights as the terminal isn't big enough!!!!
Updated from 3 stars as its slowly getting better - even a microbrewery has been added! Security queues at peak times have improved as well....
S. D.
Not too big an airport. A comfortable size. 😌
K. S. S.
Very nice compact airport. It's like a miniature Heathrow airport, very well organised. You can definitely feel that it's a first world airport. Pricewise, it's executive prices. 4 star.
p. w.
Fantastic views coming landing at the airport. Very quick and easy from landing too getting out - compared to other London airports would look here first for flights again.
F. I.
As many reviews point out, the fact that it is a small airport makes it great. No long cues and waiting times are quite short. I arrived to this airport from Germany and from landing it took me less than 10 minutes to have my luggage and be heading towards the tube station.
J. H.
My favorite airport in London.
There are never any really long queues at security and the DLR station is just outside of the terminal building, which means you can be in the city centre within 15 minutes.
The only negative thing is that the boarding area is extremely narrow and crowded.
J. G.
Small and efficient. Very friendly and helpful staff. Can be a little overcrowded around the main seating area near duty free. Best to find an empty gate to sit in. Looking forward to the new terminal
M. T.
I love flying from City. Flights might sometimes be more expensive, but the convenience and pleasant experience often makes it worth paying a few pounds extra.
Staff are always helpful, there's rarely more than a couple of minutes to wait at security, and everywhere is clean. Shops and services are what you would expect from an airport of this size.
If I could, I wouldn't fly from anywhere else in London.
P. H.
British Airways staff were amazing for me. I arrived late for the checkin due to traffic problems and instead of saying no, they really pulled out all the stops making calls and got me on my flight!
I couldn’t believe what they did for me, can’t praise them enough!!!
Thank you very, very much....
M.
Great little airport. A rare occurrence, my luggage made it to the terminal building before me! Not sure it if is the fault of the airport or not, but flights seem to be regularly delayed or cancelled from here. This has happened on several trips now.
M. D.
Pretty decent, it's small so quick to get around and security treat you like a human being, which is unusual for an airport. The only downside is there are NEVER enough staff on the desks at UK border, but I'm not sure that is the airport's fault...
M. S.
Check-in times are ridiculously short here and it's a very convenient airport for the east of London and business travellers. It's downside is arrivals where there aren't enough baggage belts and it is quite cramped when two flights arrive together. It really needs expending but it's a pleasure to fly from here.
J. P.
Definitely my favourite airport to fly out of by a mile.
Easy to get to (mostly) the view is great on departure and landing, but most of all it's crazy fast and efficient. Plus, the people are actually nice here!
I think it might be as it's mostly a business airport, but if you get the chance, fly from London City (LCY)!
D. T.
The small size is a bonus. Security is prompt and normally no hassle, despite being thorough. It is best not to go through to departures too soon before flight, as the departure lounge is often overcrowded.
If you are renting a car Europcar or Avis have onsite booths, and so you will not need to go off site to pick up car.
The Pret in check in area is nice enough place to sit, and watch the classy types walking around, of which I am not one.
P. R.
I just wish to thank your helpful staff, including those in the 'drop off' area, who provided wheelchair service when I travelled alone to Switzerland recently. It was bit liked being parcelled from one spot to another on the outward journey, kindly so, but it was a very busy time. But on the return journey the wheelchair was waiting where we landed and I was whisked through and out of the terminal in ten minutes!
Thank you.
T. A. A.
Super, smaller airport providing flights mainly to Europe and UK cities. It's got everything you would expect at an airport, but all compact, very convenient and so quick to walk to the gates. The staff were extra helpful and polite. We arrived about 9 am, when the early morning rush had passed. It was amazingly easy to check in, get through security, grab a coffee and relax. There's an amply stocked duty free shop and quite a number of eating opportunities, including a restaurant with waitress service. You can pay to go in the business lounge, but I don't know if it's worth it. The best bit was walking from the gate, out across the tarmac, onto the plane. It was like the old days of flying, when people dressed up and wore a hat before getting on a plane. Final tip, there's a very easy route to get there using the London Overground from Highbury & Islington, then the DLR from Stratford. Enjoy your flight!
S.
Tiny airport, very nice and U.K border is a million times better than Heathrow. Not that many people crowd around the belts, so when I saw my bag, luckily we were able to run there without anyone blocking us. The lift in the DLR is slow and try and get a flight if you can.
B. T.
My favourite airport in London!!! Easily accessible for anyone living East or nearby the DLR. The small size makes it easy to navigate and allows you to get from check-in to gate in 20 minutes. Only downside is the increase in cheap flights which means now there are many big groups of tourist that are not ideal traveller... I definitely preferred it when it was 99% business flights.
B. c.
Flying to work, its a great airport
M. C.
It's so much more tranquil than most airports, but I should already have been home but for Aerlingus canceling my flight the day before. There system and information was so very poor. No undates at all. We had too search for it.
J. R.
By international standards this is a very small airport, but the quality of customer service is high. Check-ins were quick and choice of seating inside was unusually varied, in a good way.
C. J.
Best airport for regional travel. More so if you're based in east London. Accessible via DLR. From drop off to boarding is a breeze. Assuming not flight delays of course you can easily get through Checkin, security and boarding. Terminal can be busy but you won't be there long. Arrivals is just as quick. You can be out of the airport in minutes!
S. O.
Ok - there is only a 6km traffic jam to get there - not the 59km traffic jam to Heathrow
However - do not come if you are claustrophobic
It is like being experimented on like a rat.
It is tight very tight - bring a seat - bring your patience .
However it is clean and tidy and the staff despite the enormous pressure seem to be able to cope ....cudos to them
T. H.
Nice little airport 20 min from Canary Wharf...
Quite bit of queuing to get through passport control but once inside it is lovely and very convivial... Can see this airport growing to double the size within a few years and it will be needed!
T. J.
Clean, quiet airport with friendly staff
R. v. D.
This airport is awesome. 3 minutes from the door of the aircraft to the public transport DLR, including pass control and purchase of tube ticket.
Friendly staff all around including border officers. 10 second immigration makes you feel welcome.
S. M.
Defiantly the best London airport experience, transit through check-in and security is a breeze even during peak hours. Lounge area is served by a somewhat eclectic mix of shops; the essentials such as pharmacy, the interesting electrical store and the boutique leather shop. There are a decent selection of eateries too though with check-in and transit so quick I've never felt the need to try either of the sit down restaurants. The lounge can feel a bit claustrophobic due to the way the seating is squeezed in but again plan properly and you'll be there no more than twenty minutes. Only issue with this airport is during the winter it can suffer from big fog delays, the proximity to Canary Wharf, it's niche value, is also on a foggy day it's curse, as if the visibility isn't clear enough to see the towers then everything is grounded. This in mind it is my favourite gateway in an out of London and despite holding loyalty benefits with some of the big Heathrow and Gatwick carriers my first choice is always whoever is at LCY.
T. R.
Small but very useful airport. Clean, friendly with amazing views when taking off and landing !!
A. P.
I left my bag on the DLR when I got off for London City Airport. The staff were helpful, concerned and very friendly. They gave me good advice, which resulted in me being reunited with my bag! And everyone was asking whether everything was OK. An airport with a human-touch.
M. H.
This airport is perfect for business travellers. Get all way from entrance to the gate in 20 mins! Very efficient given most people are frequent flyers. There are coffee shops and restaurants after security. Lots of plug sockets also.
S. R.
If only all airports in London could be so easy to use. It gets busy early in the morning for the expected business flights. But check in and security checking is less hassle than Heathrow, Stansted or Gatwick. Plenty of cafe options if you need a coffee fix of need to pick up a snack or drink before boarding. Gates are never far away from the main terminal building. Plenty of seating with power, although it gets busy during rush hours. Black cabs are always around for leaving the airport but they can be thin on the ground on some days.
P. F.
My favourite airport. Easy to get to, for me. Small and easy to navigate, without endless duty free shops. Feels more like catching a bus, straight in and straight on the plane.
A. M.
It's a decent alternative for short length flights in Europe.
Just in the heart of London, really reachable via public transports.
One runaway only makes this airport more often than not busy, but facilities on site are quite good.
Be aware that costs of items like water cost more once you passed the first gate.
A negative notte for the arrival area. Too small and UK border officers don't help because there is always a long queue before reaching the desk. Be prepared to a minimum of 20 mins queue.
M. V.
Having flown in and out of London my whole life I have never had the pleasure of flying out of City, until this weekend. Flew through check in, security and was on the plane within 90 mins. Will choose City whenever I can!
A. W.
Great location for London travellers. And small enough to check in an hour before flight.
Price of parking however is extortionate. Over £3 just to drop someone off and over £7 if you want to wait briefly
J. L.
So much nicer than Luton and Heathrow, not a massive selection of shops but good enough. Found plenty of available seating at the boarding gates as they were all filled near the food court and shops. Took 10 minutes to clear security on a Friday afternoon.
K. S.
I use the facilities of this airport on a regular basis, being so close to the city and being able to fly to several destinations around the local European area really helps me deals with clients.
Security is always quick, DLR right outside the door helps and in easy reach of the Excel.
Keep up the good work and look forward to using you again next week. The new flight to Manchester by British Airways is also a huge help in my line of work.
m. l.
Perfect, small-ish and within easy reach for the City of London Canary wharf and East London. Will expand over the next few years as will be the area around it. Serves most European cities and a direct business class flight to NYC.
R. W.
small but convenient airport (especially compared to Heathrow). Quick connection to Canary Wharf & City through DLR connection.
When there are issues (like weather), the airport can be become really full so you have to 'fight' for your seat.
There are no airport lounges.
K. M.
Was a very slick operation until recently, when you await departure. There are no final boarding announcements and we nearly missed our plane to Edinburgh, they even took our luggage off. When we made our way to gate on own volition, as it seemed late, we were met by a staff member who did take us to plane and arranged for our cases to be re - stowed. More luck than anything. Also, no pick up outside terminal, where has this come from. It primarily a business airport and mainly short haul as well, therefore usually carry on luggage only. Are you cashing in on the parking rip off as all airports are doing. I am a taxi driver specialising in airport transfers.
J.
This a fantastic airport for use by business and recreational travelers alike. Firstly, the airport is well connected to existing infrastructure, DLR, which is a great and affordable way to get into central London within an hour. Secondly and most importantly, the check-in process and security queues are quick and easy. Lastly, the departure lounge is located close to the security gate thereby avoiding the hassle of being trudged through a "Duty Free Zone," a common practice in European Airports.
Bonus: Bloomberg terminals located in the departure lobby.
J. G.
Best airport to fly in and out of London (if you can afford it). It's really compact and staffed with attentive and helpful staff. The transport links are really effective, and you could get to the City in less than 30 minutes and for about £3 on public transport.
A. P.
Nice little airport. The connection with DLR is very good. You are quickly in the city and quickly back at the airport. The distances are very short and the staff friendly.
H. N.
Very nice little airport with friendly staff and a decent range of shops/cafes, plenty of seats and lots of charging points for electronic devices, only negative was security only had 2 lanes open out of 4 at a really busy time which took longer than expected otherwise great airport 😃
B. H.
You definitely do not need to arrive two hours early, even if you are flying internationally. A small, quaint and sufficient airport just outside the secondary business district in London. Reasonably retail shops, but nothing special.
A. S.
Jet centre is the fastest to come out
T. D.
Felt super safe during this pandemic. Staff attentive, polite and friendly. Love this small but lovely airport
S. R.
Closeness to the City makes this a good location airport. Much faster "to go through" than Gatwick and Heathrow. However, the new departure monitors are a complete joke. Five pages of flight information when everyone is only concerned with the 1st page (flights departing soon). Wake up!
J. R.
The best airport in the UK to use. Nice and small, efficient security, short walks. Good transport links with buses and DLR. Will always choose here if price premium is no more than £50.
Update April 2019. A large number of non-dom elite bankers flying their jets here and ruining the local air quality of those who live nearby and actually pay taxes. Perhaps a London Air Quality surcharge of £300 divided by the number of passengers onboard (to be paid before departure clearance is issued) would help to address the lavish trips of unnecessary single-or low occupancy flights.
The local authority needs the money. Newham had the highest number of knife murders in 2017-18 (13).
R. L.
For a small airport it's not bad. The congestion immediately through security is misleading as there are some great spots for food just beyond that to your left. The brewery/craft coffee spot has fantastic sausage rolls and if miserable overpriced sandwiches aren't your thing from Panoloa (or whatever it is similarly called) there's a Pret a Manger and other spots along the way.
If you have kids there's a play area. There's also plenty more seating and helpfully lots of seats with USB charging sockets.
I was pleasantly surprised while flying out of here. I would give Pilots restaurant a skip as it's a bit over priced for what you get. Also, can't believe there's at least 4 WHSmiths in an airport so small!
A. G.
I have for the first time used London City Airport and it turned out to be surprisingly good.
It has very good transport link with DLR and by car, small but almost all high street brands there.
I had good experince.
M. Z.
Ideally located in the heart of London. Small , efficient and well managed. Great WiFi service too. The city access makes it the most convenient place for short trips from continental Europe or for those having private jets , the perfect landing place for the "big boys toys"
N. H.
Top tip for people using London City Airport: you *can* get a proper filter coffee 'airside', and a pretty good one - there's a Prêt à Manger tucked away out of sight down the corridor for gates 2-14.
C.
London City is very likely to be the most convenient airport in town. You can get to and from here using the DLR and normal Oyster cards, so it's not expensive. Unfortunately airlines know this convenience, so it is very hard to get cheap flights to and from London City. I guess if you don't mind paying more, it's perfect, otherwise you'll have to stick with the usual airports in the middle of nowhere if you normally fly on a budget :/
a.
It was ok. Fast service ..everyrhing clean ....nice
D. S.
Very convenient airport. Quick check-in, security, boarding. Small, but sufficient number of shops, restaurants and bars. Even if it is crowded, everything works real quick. Staff is very nice.
A. K.
A small airport right in the middle of London easily accessible with the Tube. Two eateries outside check in to say goodbye to friends. but with limited seats. Staff seem friendlier than the staff from Stansted or Heathrow Airport.
G. S.
Small airport that does the job of getting you back into London. Due to this passing through security is a fast affair. A major negative however is the transport out of the airport. Currently it relies heavily on the DLR and bus services which are both often slow and overcrowded, Unbearable at peak hour through bank.
I suggest people going west use Heathrow instead if possible until crossrail is operating... And yes I cannot believe I said that!

Super quick to get in and out. Went from leaving the plane to being outside in less than 10 mins. However, when stuck waiting to board there is precious little to do as all the food and drink options are expensive, even for airport standards.
S. L.
Of all the "London" airports this is the only one actually in London. Despite the fact that half of my flights I've taken from here have been cancelled due to weather I still give it 5 stars. You will get flights cancelled more often due to weather, especially fog around the city centre.
In terms of convenience this place can't be beat. Head down the escalators from the DLR and in 2min you're at the security checkpoint and you've never walked outside. Getting to Bank on the DLR takes just 22 minutes.
I regularly head here to hire a car because airport car hires have longer hours and better rates than the more local ones. It's also just a 15min drive from me. Just be aware on Saturday's, flights stop early so the car hire closes earlier around 15:30.
H. R.
Parking very expensive, no places to get hot drink, it was only 6 34 in the evening, disappointing.

London airport has an airplane when all the passengers are waiting from the plane when they are boarding check-in and passport are needed stores is in the gate areas

Travelled through LCY recently and while it is a well laid out airport had some bad experiences of it - thought the restaurants were poor and overpriced and while not the airports fault was delayed over 2.5 hours waiting for flight to Dublin. City Jet aircraft went tech . and 2nd plane sent to accommodate us also exerienced problems. No information or updates on delay provided. Inbound journey a couple days earlier went very well and little or no delays disembarking and finding transport into city by DLR.

Very clean & quiet at the moment, drop of is close but no pick up, need to ise car park, is a bit of a walk.

According to London mayoral candidate Sian Berry, she proposed London City Airport to be abandoned and redeveloped into residential housing estates.
We are hoping that Sian Berry will be elected as the acting Mayor of London!

Location is great but trying to serve too many holiday travelers. Needs to stick to it's roots as a business travel airport. Great to arrive to. Terrible to leave from as very over crowded and frequent delays. Never boarded on time.
L. B.
I regularly fly out via City airport and even though security is sometimes a bit of a struggle - it's always a fantastic experience.
There's not many shops, but I don't care about that - there's a superb view of the runway with electricity outlets, free wi-fi, and coffee/toasted sandwiches. I'd fly every day if I could.
R. B.
Best airport in London.

Flew with British Airways to Málaga as their reliability and customer service is always amongst the best. It is worth printing out your boarding pass prior to travelling to avoid delays with security and also speed up the check in procedure with your airline.
If you arrive via the DLR train station, just walk up the ramp and the London City Airport entrance and boarding pass security is located directly to your left. Remember to tap out with your Oyster or Contactless card on the discreetly placed reader as there are no barriers and you will be charged the standard £8.00 penalty fare.

London City is the only airport I know where the security staff don't treat you like a moron, it's definitely a place designed with the frequent (competent) flyer in mind! If you know to bag your liquids and what to put in the tray you can arrive 30 mins before your flight and make it easily! This is my favorite airport by far! If only they had lounges! But hey, they bars all face the runway and are void of louts going to Malaga!
A. W.
This small airport is conveniently accessible via tube and DLR. Its clientele is more business travellers, and fewer tourists. As such, security is pretty easy. But, it does get really busy for after work flights!
Tip: Ladies, I am a frequent traveller and have been to more than my fair share of airports, so be forewarned that you need to put your lipstick and mascara in a clear bag. I have never had to do this before in ANY airport! Also, my carry on was flagged because they found a bar of soap. But the female security officer apologized for detaining me. Apparently, newbie screeners asked her to check it, when she herself knew it was nothing.

Small, efficient, fast, modern airport on the Thames in East London. Limited number of destinations you can fly to but they seem to be increasing. Flights seem to cost more from here but well worth it if you're based closer or zone 1 or 2 in London. Car parking can be expensive I'm told. Easy to reach on tube and DLR.
S. L.
Great airport. Quick and easy. Very organised security. Very good connections to the city - less than 30mins on the DLR which has a station at the airport. Ends up being about the same price as Gatwick, Stanstead or Luton due to the lack of a need for a connecting train or bus plus much quicker. Good shops and brilliant lounge with charging sockets built into the seats for free.
G. J. R.
the airport has a modern slavery statement on their site. i'm not sure if that is a clever satire of the airport, but i dig it. the europeans are still pretty confused about liquids and how to do security efficiently, so prepare to leave your dignity before you enter this airport. on the plus side, there's reasonably fast wifi, despite all the corporate zombies downloading their gigabyte powerpoints from their croaking exchange servers.
G. A.
Excellent airport, very small and very convenient.
A. B.
The airport is nice and nifty. Free WiFi is available. But there is no business lounge for the SWISS airline. You only get a 4 GBP voucher per person for accommodation. I know there is not much space available but 4 GBP is really disappointing especially if you take the price of a business ticket into account.
On the other hand the airport's location is great and traveling is fast and easy.
E. S.
A great small airport, really convenient for me just a short drive away. I like how short it is from entering the airport to your gate. Less stressful than Heathrow and Gatwick anyway...
C. v. d. S.
Great small airport close to Canary wharf business district. Very efficient service and great connection through DLR rail service. Downside is that it can be very busy, especially the waiting areas
V. A.
Yes, the airport is small and you have short ways. But once you're through security there is just one large space with a restaurant and other than that you're just left with sitting at your gate. During rush hour this airport can get really really crowded and annoying with just not enough space for that many people
D. C.
Small size = faster service. This airport only has 20 or so gates, so it doesn't take long from check in to gate. Security is about as painless as it can get. The food offerings were a bit lacking, hence 4 stars, but I would recommend LCY over LGW, STN, and LLN.
F. A.
Great and small airport, I tried it twice and once I arrived for the immigration I'm always the first one in the row as non-european(normally it took me 20 minutes to get out of the airport) :-) It is also having a station on the DLR connected to London Underground(they have same ticket in zone 3).
If you have a chance, try it and enjoy it.
C. M.
This is very good location for commuting.Small airport, close to underground station and very central from city like London. There is regulated flights to Glasgow,Edinburgh,Aberdeen etc.I use this airport many times, and for internal destination in UK i think is better then Luton,Gatwick etc.
C. P.
As my local airport it would be easy to say it is my favourite as it is better connected to the centre of London than any of the major terminals like LHR, Gatwick et al. Being a smaller airport means it usually is a more relaxed, quicker experience than those mega-ports. Generally speaking the staff are well-trained and helpful, able to help you solve problems like where to go or what to do when you're running late for a flight as an example. The waiting area has become more cramped as the airport has increased in popularity, but even so it is still a more enjoyable experience than the glossy cattle pens offered by the likes of Stansted.
A. Č.
Small airport good connection to public transport DLR. At airport- lack of seats, on sundays open not before 10 PM!!!!!! We had to freeze outside because ve can't wait for our afternoon flight!!!
Back in time on 24th February, we missed our flight to Prague from London Luton. It was 10 PM and no other flights were departing from London To Prague that day. So we had to book the new tickets from London City next day(25 Feb) (with British Airways.). We arrived to London City Airport by DLR at about 8 AM, and then we noticed that airport is closed till 10 AM. So we had to stay outside in very cold weather(about 2-4 celsius?). We were trembling with the cold and there was no option to go somewhere to warm up, so that was very unpleasant. Otherwise the airport is cozy, good, but I missed some restaurant of fast food type or some mini shop with grocery
S. K.
Small airport, which makes it relatively quick to navigate.
Can feel a little cramped, and can be difficult to get a seat, and there can be queues for the toilets. It’s also has a slightly dated feel.
S. W.
Always a great take off from here ...

Of all the "London" airports (Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted) this one is technically The London airport due to its location. Getting to Central London takes just 30 minutes or so, far quicker than any of the others!
Oh and the view of the city from the aircraft is stunning!
W. C.
For me this is the best airport in London, because you can enter the airport, go through customs and get on the plane within 20-30 mins without the lengthy waiting you have to do in Heathrow.
However, this is not an airport to while away a few hours. There's nothing interesting to do.
J. H.
Enjoy free convenience of flying from here. Very professional staff. Highly recommended as an alternative to other London airports further from central London.
E. B.
London City Airport is a tiny airport where only smaller aircraft are allowed to land, you won't find any large aircraft at this airport.
The small size means shopping and eating is limited, but it has huge advantages as the distances within the airport are short. I've been in situations where I arrived 40 minutes before a flight but still made it to boarding, something that would be impossible at the larger airports in or around London.
The London DLR (an overland train) has a stop at London City Airport and it will take you to Central London in 23 minutes.
M. C.
Wonderful airport compared to the other options for London. Everything works without all the hassle of Heathrow or the masses of Gatwick.
Due to the size constraints, no lounges operate and few non EU flights.
M. K.
Great airport with amazingly quick transport links into the centre of London and flights to major European cities and even business flights to New York. Only downside is the terminal could do with a bit of a renovation.
R. M.
Clean airport, not much rush. A bit far from central London though.
T. C.
Of all the airports I use, it's one of the least obnoxious. You never seem to have to queue for too long and the car park is very convenient.
They don't seem to have any water machines after security, but Boots is good value by airport standards.
A. G.
Very handy Airport. Has a small, efficient & Boutique-like feel, with plenty of restaurant and gift choices. The fact of not having to go through LHR or LGW, or the pretend-london airports like LUT and STD make it a great little hub, hope it grows with more flights.
M. O. B.
Best airport to fly from in London.. If you can get reasonable priced flights...
I. G.
Very easy commute through London to get to the airport. Check-in and security is quick to get through also. The lounge gets extremely busy and finding somewhere to eat is difficult during the busy periods.
M. T.
Good days fly take-off and landing..... and NEW Treminal and Taxi-ways or Apron parking Aircraft coming soon 2022 opening more 30 Aircraft civil. Good best holidays Europe.

Flew in for financial meeting in Canary wharf. Excellent connection. We had delay luggage but wife waited while I shot off and staff found. So all in all ok
P. D.
I think City Airport is amazing I travel 3/4

Easily London's best airport - small and mostly business travel, so you can walk up right before your flight and have no problems queuing. Never had any delay when flying to/from here.
T. A.
Small but mighty. Easy access to London, Easy access to the world. Smart Airport
S. D.
The best London airport; small and smart with free Wifi and a quick, efficient security process. Not much in the way of shopping beyond a bookstore, duty free, sandwiches and a few bars, but so easy to get to and from that it's easily preferable to other, more overcrowded places.

Lovely small airporto very close to Canary Wharf. Nice shops but queu to get through check in go throufh customs not at all good but se most airporto in world. I like that is close to the canary wharf. We had very nice trip in london in large group. London is friendly, modern and everything very close to transport links
D. T.
Small airport conveniently located if you want to travel for City of London, East and South East London. You can checkin 15mins before the flight if you don't have any checkin luggage. Gates close to the entrance. Good transport connections too.
I. K.
Excellent place to visit and live
Hugely recommended in all aspects.
T. K.
Always a pleasure to take off or depart. Worth paying extra on the flight price for.
J. L.
Amazingly quick and convenient if you live in East London (and even if you don't the airport is so small that you are in and out in record time). Very much used for business travel and short haul european flights, but if you can travel through it, I would!

London City Airport ( is an international airport in London, United Kingdom. It is located in the Royal Docks in the London Borough of Newham, approximately 6 NM (11 km; 6.9 mi) east of the City of London and a shorter distance east of Canary Wharf. These are the twin centres of London's financial industry, which is a major user of the airport. The airport was developed by the engineering company Mowlem in 1986–87. In 2016 it was bought by a Canadian-led consortium of Alberta Investment Management Corporation OMERS, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and Wren House Infrastructure Management of the Kuwait Investment Authority.
London City Airport has a single 1,500-metre (4,900 ft) long runway, and a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence (Number P728) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flight training (but only for training necessary for the operation of aircraft at the airport). Only multi-engine, fixed-wing aircraft with special aircraft and aircrew certification to fly 5.5° approaches are allowed to conduct operations at London City Airport. The largest aircraft which can be used at the airport is the Airbus A220-100.
London City served over 4.5 million passengers in 2017. It is the fifth-busiest airport in passengers and aircraft movements serving the London area—after Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton—and was the 14th-busiest in the UK in 2017.

Simple but purposeful and quick most of the time. Parking (short term is really unfair now, especially when you are picking up someone and they G-D forbid take a wee bit more than 10 minutes - you pay £7!).
T. C.
Conveniently accessible via the DLR, this London airport is the reserve of the city's financial workforce who regularly jet off for important business meetings on the continent. The airport itself is extremely compact SK don't expect the range of services found at the calitals larger airports but the bases are covered.
L. -. S.
Such a convenient airport, most centrally London airport with DLR at it's doorstep. 30 min before flight departure is enough time to make your flight. Can get very busy at times.
P. W.
Nice airport and friendly service
E. L.
Small but very efficient airport, very well connected by Tube, taxi, car sharing, bike sharing.
R. A.
Great Airport to travel from as always
J. M.
Has the best relaxation room. Very clean and the prayers room is very respectful. Overall a very big airport with many places to visit inside
F. J.
My favourite airport in London. It's small, only takes minutes a few minutes to get from the entrance to the plane. The departure lounge is also very comfortable.
