The team at Millstream are incredible. Second time I've adopted from them and they are exceptional with both their resident cats and the cats up for adoption. Spend the time to make new owners fully informed and ensure the kittens and cats leaving with new owners are with the right people. Would recommend them to everyone I know.

If you fancy a cat cuddle and maybe get to take one home then this is a great place. I wasn't feeling great the other day and my friend dropped some cat food off and I got overly snuggled by the resident kitty's. I went back to work feeling fab.

These guys at Millstream are the shelter of shelters.... these cats are well looked after and the people here dont judge you Having to part with a pet can sometimes be painful but the animals welfare comes first with these guys.

The staff and volunteers were very welcoming and helpful. All the animals at this shelter are extremely loved and cared for. We went there to donate some items and get to know the cats. I was also able to find a nice teapot from the charity shop :) will be visiting again!

A kind soul captured and recovered my 18 year old cat who I'd assumed had departed for good took my cat to this sanctuary. They were incredibly kind, absolute perfect care, I'm so glad my wayward cat ended up in their hands, they genuinely care for the animals they habilite. Abolute angels, thank you ♥️

Went to adopt an adult cat, the staff were very helpful and advised against an adult as we have two already at home. Came away with a feral kitten who has grown to be a very loving animal and gets on brilliantly with our other two. There was also a cheaper neutering option which we were able to bring the kitten back for. I'd recommend if you're looking to adopt, they offer a wealth of advice and care for the animals they house. They also feed lots of feral cats that aren't technically theirs. Nice caring people.

If you're thinking of getting a cat or kitten please visit Millstream. I sadly lost both of my cats, aged 18, last August. I was, needless to say, heartbroken. After much consideration I decided it was time to give 2 more kitties a home. I visited Millstream one day unplanned. It is the best animal shelter I have seen. Two of the ladies there were involved in me homing two of their special support cats. This meant sitting with the cats in a dedicated room whilst we got acquainted. I was still very sad about my girls and the staff were so understanding and warm towards me. After visiting the shelter in my spare time and getting to know my cats, they are now with me permanently (after a 4 month foster period). I cannot recommend Millstream enough. 'A' and 'E' were amazing throughout the whole process and I miss visiting them! Please if you're considering getting a cat, give Millstream a try, you won't regret it. Must go, I have a beautiful pair of cats who want a cuddle! ❤️❤️

We rescued a cat from elsewhere that did not get on with our existing ones. She was a bully and injured our cats. We explained this to Millstream who took her in. It was a heartbreaking thing to have to do but they made it that bit easier and now we know she'll go somewhere she can be the only cat. The staff didn't treat us like we were giving up. They listened and understood. They gave us a tour of the place and showed us the work they do. It was very inspiring. I would highly recommend visiting them if you want a cat. They have loads.

Love it! The set up is amazing and the cats look so happy being able to roam around rather than being in small pens. They had lots of comfy places to climb and sleep. It’s amazing. Lots of gorgeous cats to play with and the staff were so lovely and friendly. They clearly enjoy being there and are happy to tell you all about each cat.

This shelter is absolutely amazing. The staff (and resident cats) are all really friendly and helpful. Me and my wife went here to adopt a kitten and they provided all the information we needed, and answered all of our questions and more. Cannot recommend this shelter enough for people looking to adopt. No doubt, we will be back in future!

This place does amazing work. I've adopted 2 kittens from here and due to adopt a special support cat. They never put a cat down, if it can't be rehomed it becomes a resident. So you know your donation will really make a difference.

We found this place on Google looking for a local shelter to adopt from. The shelter is very clean and seems well run. The animals are all over, some live there, and all were extremely friendly and seemed healthy. We were shown 2 cats and actually taken the one we chosen home on the same day! Very pleasent service

Always had a positive experience adopting from Millstream! My parents adopted our family cats from here and I did the same once in my own place. Many people seem to forget it's volunteer run too, and the adoption fees and donations are what enables it to stay open. They always vet potential adopters - due to the range of conditions these cats and ferrets come from, they require specific homing conditions (for example, some cannot be homed with other pets, or with young children). You may be asked a few questions about your working hours etc, again this is NOT personal! Some of the animals may have separation anxiety due to abandonment, and therefore may not turn out to be the cat for you! All animals are neutered, unless they are kittens in which case you will have to sign an agreement which states once they are old enough, you will use their Vet service which provides it a discounted price. Prechipped animals will have their records updated to you once confirmed adoption. We have adopted two cats from here- one 9yo was a Special Support, which meant he required regular visits to build a bond with him and one on one time to see if we would be suitable for him (due to abandonment issues). He is currently with us on an extended trial, and we keep in touch regarding his progress in our home - the criteria specified we would need to spend lots of time to build confidence, without children, and where he could feel secure with potential outdoor access. He is thriving as we have provided the exact environment Millstream were looking for having spent time themselves working with this cat to ensure he was suitable for rehoming at this time. Our other cat (which we adopted first) is a lovely 8yo who is small for her age - her adoption profile clearly stated no young children, yet Facebook was full of people complaining that they should be allowed her because she is cute, that their kids would 'love and be gentle' with her - ignoring the cats needs for their own. People need to understand Millstream does not discriminate against people with young kids, but that many of these animals come from previous homes which has created issues which means young children and the cat aren't compatible - there are many cats who are assessed to be fine living with young children here! Many of the complaints regarding staff being unprofessional, asking questions about work hours/if you're at home and children ages etc - THIS IS STANDARD ADOPTION PRACTICE. If you lie about the circumstances you have, they can't match you to the correct potential candidates, and this results in many cats being adopted and then returned within the Trial period for being 'unsuitable' or 'problematic'. You have to put the animal before yourself and if you cannot give it the home they are requesting (which is for a reason!), please do not ignore the criteria and lie to get through the adoption. Every animal has different needs and some have been left traumatised by previous owners or scared of specific genders, so please be truthful when visiting to consider adoption.

What a great place if you love cats. I had to hand over kittens found in a friend's garden. They were immediately installed in a spacious cage, and I had a wonderful tour of the shelter, the gereatric room with catio, the mum and baby unit, the many resident cats wandering around. Superb!

We only have the most positive things to say about our experience with Millstream. We were fortunate enough to get our two beautiful dogs from here, and they couldn't have been looked after any better by Carla and Kat. We were allowed to visit as often as we wanted prior to collecting them on the arranged date, and the staff were always very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely shelter. We adopted our two cats here and it's a clean and well run facility with kind and caring staff. Cats were neutered, microchipped, and treated for fleas and worms when we got them, well fed and well adjusted. Millstream changes the microchip registration to your name on your behalf and provides collars and ID tags. They even let me borrow a carrier to take my babies home and called me a taxi. They also take cats back into their care if for some reason the home is not a good fit or something happens to the owner. Highly recommend this shelter if you're looking for a feline companion.

The rescues are clean and well cared for and never get rehomed until they are ready to leave. Don't use a pet shop or a breeder GET YOUR CAT FROM HERE. I have adopted six cats from here since 2010 so if that is not the best recommendation I don't know what is.
