A lovely little farm with some very friendly animals. Could be better at answering the phone, and those rare breeds sausages break my heart, but otherwise very sweet! I just can’t get enough of those Oxford down lambs!
- Edit, just to clarify, I was being slightly tongue in cheek! I also understand that phone resourcing is another strain on resources that often aren't there.
We loved the farm!

Loved it. Had so much fun! Cutest animals, you can feed and pet them, just buy little bucket of chopped veggies. And Aberdeen coastal trail and bike trail just right there.

Facilities okay toilet, hand washing, play park, car park with overflow. lovely family run farm. Bring a picnic as no coffee shop. Good selection of animals that are friendly : horses, sheep, chickens, pigs.
P. S.
Out of the way rare breeds farm in Aberdeen trying their best to keep endangered pigs, goats, horses, sheep ducks etc. from extinction. They need our support to continue their work. Brilliant for the youngsters and there is a children's playground at the end of the walk. They also sell frozen meats from the farm. We had 2 large Pork chops which were superb. These small places should be supported by the public for the tireless work they do, or they and the breeds they keep going will disappear for ever.

It's sometimes hard to find good/fun activities for kids between the age of one and four years old. I can definitely recommend this place, as you can spend an entire morning or afternoon there and keep the kids well entertained. The staff is very friendly, and animals are great fun to look at and there is also the option of feeding the animals. There's a brand new big playground right in front of the farm you only have to bring some food and drinks yourself and you can also enjoy a nice picnic if the weather permits.

Grandsons really enjoyed their visit to Doonies.Good selection of animals to see even though it was the end of season.Love the idea of buckets of veg to feed the animals.

I had heard this place was great from friends but I found it to have mostly sheep ( different breeds yes) 2 horses, some pigs, goats, ducks and chickens. Price was £4 to get in each then £1 per bucket of feed (carrots+cabbage) . We enjoyed being able to feed the animals and my son loved that part too.
There is a playarea with picnic benches. No bins so take a bag for rubbish if eating food brought with you here.
It could really benefit from a snack bar or even just to be able to get a cuppa tea/coffee.
Okay for an afternoon but not enough to keep me here all day.

Love this place, great wee day out seeing some lovely animals. You can buy a wee pail of veg to feed them too which is fun. Has a small play park for kids and a few picnic tables too. Also has a nice view over the sea

Been years since I have been to Doonies Farm and its still as good as I remember.
Took my partner and kids on Sunday and we couldn't fault one bit.
Staff were so friendly and the farm, playground and pets have been well looked after.
Would highly recommend to anyone.
Keep up the good work Doonies farm 😃

Lovely, well kept farm. Love the feed buckets, and great hand wash facilities. Lots of different breeds to see.

Kids love coming here. The debit card machine was not working. We had not much cash so the owner was letting everyone in for free.

Excellent day out. Loved feeding the animals, also a good play park.

Great little farm! My kids (aged 2 and 4) loved it; we spent the whole afternoon there today. Plenty of animals to feed and buckets of feed are a good size. The play park is clean and well maintained. The lady and gentleman working at the farm were kind and friendly. Definitely worth a visit, especially with younger children!

We always enjoy visiting Doonies , a 10 minute drive from Aberdeen City Centre, on the coast between Nigg and Cove Bay, many varieties of rare breed animals to see that have been bred and born on the farm, with a large picnic and play area to enjoy before you leave .
Free parking with a friendly welcome, the kids love seeing the new born piglets, lambs, goats etc, walking around the pens at your leisure taking as long as you like with no time constraint on your visit from the farm, great value with entrance fees at £10 for two adults and up to three children, other prices are available depending on the size of your party ( £4 per adult, child £2.50 , under twos are free etc).
We have visited many times , buckets of veg to feed the animals are priced at £1 each, we always buy them as the children love feeding their favourites .
We always ensure wellies for the kids are worn and coats or jackets are in the car in case it rains or is cold when we get there.
I have read previous reviews some other visitors have made , one complains about a smell , 🤣🤣 on a farm really , I have never had any such complaint at any time we have visited, the farm is well maintained , all animals are alert ( when they’re not snoozing ) and well looked after, I cannot recommend highly enough, we always leave happy with lots of photos of our day , washing our hands in the provided area as required by the farm , with a friendly cheerio and wave as we head back to our car .

It's a small rare breed farm in the outskirts of the city. Kids are allowed to interact and feed the animals with a safe distance. One can easily spend an hour or two or more there. The farmer and his wife are really friendly people and they do not hesitate in answering your questions. The entrance is equipped with hand sanitizer and a wash basin facility. They also sell buckets of various veggies to feed the animals. And each small bucket costs £1. The farm animals are really social and they're very well taken care of. There's also attached play area to the farm. All in all its a good place to spend during daylight savings period. They're closed during the winter time.

I’ve been to Doonies several times and enjoyed every visit. I think it would be a great time for kids and adults.

Nice place for kids to meet some animals. Cheap price
J. T.
Fun place to take the kids. Let them see animals up close and feed them from a bucket. If you visit during laming season you get to see all the new little lambs.
W. T.
Lovely farm with cute animals in a lovely location by the coast. If you are without a car the walk from Aberdeen city centre is not too onerous. Card payment accepted for entry fee & feed bucket 👍🏼

Lovely owners. Good fun for kids and adults
I. J.
Really good value. Lovely animals in beautiful condition.
A. B.
Great. We spent a wonderful 1.5 hrs there, fed all the animals and had a play on the playground. Maybe not a good spot for a rainy day as there is not much in the way of shelter for humans, but fabulous in the sunshine

Fun day out to bring the family. Admission prices are honest and fair.
Staff here are incredibly friendly and it is immediately obvious that they care deeply for the animals here.
Patrons can expect opportunities to feed the animals for a £1 a bucket (time of print).
There is a small fun play park for children to burn off any residual steam after the days visit.
The on site shop stocks a small selection of meats when it can be sourced from butchers.
Overall this is definitely a place worth visiting!

Great place for kids to explore and have fun

Absolutely love this place. I go with or without the kids. Went with a friend and came out so relaxed. Couldn’t cope without doonies
T. F.
Lovely Staff and Lovely animals!
Pretty basic facilities but its cheap (£4 per adult) to get in and exactly what you'd expect with an open farm. You can feed the animals as well which is to be recommended - they're very friendly!
Brilliant views over the coast as well which is nice. On cold days wrap up warm as it's quite exposed to the elements.

Spent a brilliant couple of hours here with the kids and grandchildren...definitely one for wellies and jackets...great way to spend a few hours,.. lots of animals to watch feed and get close up to..no baby chicks though. nice to see it looking tidied.. looked run down a couple of years ago. New fencing, signs and shelters..Animals all keen to come in about for a feed..lambs and goats and kids beautiful.. Staff friendly and helpful..definitely be back..only downside..no restaurant..a restaurant here would pay for itself in no time...
P. H.
The family enjoyed the animals but the people running could do with being friendly. We paid to get in then the realised they had run out of feed which is want the kids are there to do. We ended up getting a refund and went another day. Also the prices had not been updated on the website as they have removed the family offer.

Went there on Saturday great place my granddaughters loved it so did we staff are so friendly you can buy buckets of food to fed the animals a £1 a bucket so reasonable and they are so full up with food will definitely be going back great park there to go along and support these wonderful animals great day out for all the family 😍👍xx

Brilliant experience for my 22 month old who loves sheep, although on the visit she seemed more obessed by the piglets. Great place for kids to walk around and see the different varieties of pigs/sheep they have. Whilst knowing you are helping to support the rare breeds they farm here.
Admission price is reasonable (£3 per person) and the £1 per bucket of feed also reasonable.
They have a small playpark on the side which is great for kids to play in before/after.

Shame it’s only open at weekends I would love to take my grandson but am not able to at the weekend would be better if it’s open during the week as well am sure that would help especially after the pandemic

Nice place to visit with children and a variety of animals such as pigs, sheep, horses, ducks and chickens. Can purchase buckets of food to feed animals as you walk around. Can be cold with a breeze off the sea so make sure to take warm clothes.
M. D.
We all loved seeing the animals and having the chance to feed them. New play area being done up so didn't have the chance to try out however we'll be back to try it out. Would be nice to have a bit of a sheltered picnic area.
A. L.
Not much other than sheep here, but it's a good place to take the kids to let them interact with and feed the animals. Friendly staff and animals make it a good hours fun, maybe longer if you take a picnic, but don't expect a full day out.
T. H.
We have visited so many times and each and every time has been great. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful place right on our doorstep. It is fantastic to be able to get right up close to the animals as well as feed them, which many places do not allow. Must remember to bring cash next time for the recently added cafe!
K. S.
Lovely place to visit, beautiful and friendly animals who are always happy to munch on a carrot or two. Staff are extremely lovely and helpful, very knowledgeable about not only about farming and their animals but also the local area. Always a pleasure to visit and looking forward to seeing the new additions both animals and facilities.
L. K.
Great place lovely animals and open these easter holidays 7 days then weekend's once schools go back and closed 19th april. Feed the animals cute piglets and lambs. And many more animals and the kids loved the new play park.
D. S.
A great place to visit with children, love the feed buckets so kids can feed the animals. There is a small play ground at the farm. A great place to spend a few hours, price is good aswell.
N. S.
It's fine for an outdoor activity with the kids. Rare breeds actually mean slight variations on regular, sheep, cows, goats, pigs and horses, chickens.
K. M.
Great petting farm for children of all ages, bit windswept some days, but the variety of animals and rare breeds makes up for that. Buy a bucket of carrots and cabbage and feed the sheet, pigs, goats, geese, horses to your hearts content. Love it!
J. P.
Good value, friendly staff. Lots of animals to feed and a playground for younger kids. No cafe though and always windy so wrap up warm!
M. W.
Great place to introduce your young ones to animal life.
C. A.
Save this place from industrial estate plans (apparently). Occasional live video links on YouTube are brilliant, educational and prove staff dedication beyond words to describe.

Its a good trip out to Doonies, on the beautiful coastline of Aberdeenshire. There are plenty of rare breeds: sheep, horses, chickens to name a few. Great for small children and nice to see the checks at spring time!
M. R.
Got there yesterday after weeks of planning and sadly it was closed due to family problem but after explaining that we planned the visit we got to go round the farm all animals were very friendly and the pig was my favourite along with the Dartmoor lambs the guy who took us around was helpful explaining about each animals we said thanks by giving him cookie thanks again will be back
