What a wonderful tour! Way more than just beer tasting, it was loaded with history and such a nice step away from the busy touristy area. Colleen and Wag were our guides and did an absolutely fabulous job. Very knowledgeable about beer and Edinburgh history, and so personable and enthusiastic. They made it such a fun and enjoyable day. Just can't recommend this tour enough. I only wish we would have done it the first day here!
F.
Great tour, got organized although we were only a very small group. Great beers for everyone's taste and nicely combined with the history of brewing & Edinburgh. Big recommendation
R. B.
Went on the edinburgh old town beer tour with Mhairi and Iain as tour guides. They were absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable and entertaining. The beer was great as well. Would thoroughly recommend
B. R.
My husband and I had a fantastic time on the beer tour with Sarah. It was so much fun walking around Edinburgh learning things we never would have on our own and trying some great local beers!
K. G.
A brilliant tour. Thoroughly enjoyed the all through Edinburgh leaning it’s beer history. Guide was brilliant and the beer tasting amazing learning about tasty lessor known beers. One of the sour beers was a complete winner. Thanks
Highly recommended

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. We loved our beer tour with Jenny and Karolina! Just the right mix of beer, fun, history, and culture. :) Thanks so much! Great experience.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Sara learning so much about the history and tasting experience of beer and whisky in Edinburgh. Particularly fascinating as we are farmers growing malting barley, one of the main ingredients. Great to find out more about the whole process in relation to the historical time
P. S.
Great afternoon Sarah and Estelle were awesome, lots of beer had great fun!
R. F.
Really fun couple of hours! Enjoyed learning about the history of beer in Edinburgh and our guide Ross was very knowledgeable. Some fantastic beers at the end and I don't really like beer normally! Thanks 😁
A. P.
The tour has exceeded all of my expectations! I lived in Edinburgh for nearly 10 years and had no idea how much the history of the city was tied to the beer industry. I really enjoyed a countless number of fascinating stories and also learned how to properly taste beer! The latter will probably change your life! Highly recommend!

The Old Town Beer Tour with Zoe was a lot of fun. We stopped at three pubs: Brewdog, Cold Town Beer, and Hanging Bat. I think we tried around 9 total beers which in my opinion was exactly the right amount. They ranged from New England IPA to porter to sour. There was even a cask ale and a non-alcoholic beer thrown in the mix for good measure. At the last stop Zoe took all of our likes and dislikes into account to pick out a final drink. At least for mine she nailed it. This is a really cool and unique Edinburgh experience.

The perfect mix of beer and history! This tour was the best way to learn about the fascinating history of Glasgow and receive in-depth knowledge of Scotland's rich beer history. Sara's knowledge of beer was more in-depth than my friends and I had ever experienced before - truly elevated our approach to beer going forward. As a group of tourists from Canada and England she beautifully connected the history of our countries to the city itself. Her beer recommendations during the tour helped to expand our palates and give us a new appreciation for beer. Sara was also able to provide us with great tips for the rest of our holiday as we were headed to Edinburgh next. We highly recommend this tour (either in Glasgow or Edinburgh)!
M. D.
Really knowledgable guide who was clearly passionate about beer! Nice mix of local history an tasting.
One minor note is that the guide could have been louder on the tour. Old Town streets are pretty noisy during the day and it was slightly hard to follow what the guide was saying at points.
Overall an experience I would recommend.

Great tour with Sarah. Lots of interesting brewing history and tasting tips. Highly recommended
R. F.
Beer tour was great! Ross was very knowledgeable, not just about the history of beer, but the history of Scotland in general. Not only that, but he was a super lovely guy, made everyone feel welcome and was happy to answer any questions about anything. Beer tasting was great, a wide range of weird and wonderful beers on offer - even something for my girlfriend who doesn’t like beer! Learned a lot and had a great time. 5 stars.
S. J.
Wonderful experience with Sara. Thoroughly enjoyed the informative history of beer in Edinburgh and wider Scotland as well as a top notch tasting session!
S. Y.
Sara was a pleasure to listen to. She was so interesting and made the entire tour a treat. Could not recommend enough even if you are not a big drinker!
S. W.
Awesome Old Town Tour, Sara our Guide was very knowledgeable and told us so many intresting stories about and related to beer. The places we visited were extremely cool and some we would've never found without this tour. Looking forward to do your other tours soon.

Excellent walking tour through Edinburgh with Ross who was an highly knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Highly recommended!

Can't recommend enough for anyone who enjoys beer! We had a great group and Lisa was an amazing guide with tons of knowledge. She picked out great-tasting beers, even ones I wouldn't have ever picked for myself. All in all, it was an excellent experience.
P. M.
Such a great tour i highly recommended it.
Great history of Edinburgh and brewing. Fantastic tour guide and walking tour of areas I’ve never been to. Full of fantastic facts even those who have lived in Edinburgh all their life would never have known.
Thanks for a great afternoon!
K. M. N.
One of the best tours Ive been at, both when it comes to beer knowledge but also the history lesson you get during the tour. Lisa, our guide, was awesome and had alot of interesting things to say about the town and its beers history! If you are interested in beers and scottish history this is a tour for you!
K. H.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Our guide, Amy, provided an outstanding, highly tailored tour featuring loads of interesting history about Edinburgh and was extremely adapt at recommending beers we might like. This tour is perfect whether you're new to beer or brew it yourself. Will definitely try to book another!
D. H.
Great experience! We booked only about 4hrs in advance, even though it was only two off us, she took the time to do the tour her self when the other tour guide was sick. We had an amazing time and learned a lot not only about beer, but also the history about beer in Edinburgh! I highly recommend them!
e. s.
It was a fun tour. Good story's and a nice walk. Amy and Ross were very knowledgeable about the beer and the city history.
I would recommend it.
R. g.
It was a great experience, definitely one of the best beer tasting tour. Sara and Julie are very knowledgeable and had explained about Scottish history of beers. We tried few different Beer samples followed by a nice walk and a great time in 6 degree north pub.
I will strongly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to enhance their beer knowledge and want to spend a quality time in Scotland.
B.
Guide was very knowledgeable on beer amongst other interesting facts about Edinburgh.
M. T.
Great tour with a knowledgeable and friendly tour host, Jenny. The history of brewing is turned out to be very interesting! Fine selection of different kinds of beers.
F. B.
ScotBeer Tours did it again! This is the second time we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing the tours and they only seem to get better. Our guide, Ross, was friendly, fun and fantastically knowledgable. Would recommend these tours to everyone.
A. P.
We did the Old Town walking tour and had a great time! Jenny our tour guide was super knowledgeable, friendly and warm. This was a great tour option that gave us a good overview of Scottish and Edinburgh history combining the fun of beers at some great spots. We had a lot of great tasting beers and we hit a lot of spots we wouldn’t have encountered on our own wandering the city or in our guide books. I would definitely recommend this to visitors to the city or locals - it was super fun! Note - this tour included a generous amount of beers - but isn’t a “pub crawl” for those looking for more of a wild time!
F. M.
Fab time on the beer tour! Tried so many different beers and found some new faves! Highly recommend!
E.
Excellent afternoon doing the Leith Beer Tour. Great mix of local history and beer chat. Very knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend!
S. S.
The Beer tour around Edinburgh town was fascinating and learned loads of cool stuff about the history and beer in general. Our tour guide was excellent and was a great night.
E. D.
A very different and entertaining beer tour that not only allowed us to try out some very nice Scottish beers but also taught us a lot about the history of Edinburgh through beer and showed us some places we would probably never have found on our own.
I highly recommend it and would suggest trying to schedule it early in the visit to get most out of the valuable knowledge and tips offered.
S. M.
Loved the tour - best craft beer tour I've been on. Great stories about the history of beer in Edinburgh + I loved how Ross tailored the tour to suit our group. Not to mention, so much awesome beer! Thanks Ross!
G. W.
My wife and I did the tasting in the underground vaults during our honeymoon. Our tour guide (Jenny) was knowledgeable and a lot of fun! She did such a fantastic job including our whole group in the experience. The variety of beers was well balanced with something for everyone, and it was very cool to hear about Edinburgh brewing history. Our tour was particularly memorable in that we had a German brewmaster also on the tour, and he very politely added extra context or information about brewing when asked. Overall the tour was very well run and a great diversion for the evening!
G. W.
Had a fantastic afternoon learning about the history of brewing in Edinburgh, visiting great places and tasting amazing beers. Jenny was very knowledgeable, friendly and great fun. I totally recommend this.
M. M.
Sara was friendly, informative and put on a great tour! I was in a small group and so she personalized the tastings for us based off of feedback as we went. After the tour, she took extra time to recommend places to eat. 10/10 would recommend!
M. &. W.
Fantastic.....informative......beertastic......highly recommend....go for the extreme adventure options !!!!

Myself and a few friends went on a tour for my birthday. It the best choice I could have made, they made it fun for everyone. 5 out of 7 of us are female and 3 didn't think we liked beer so they cater to all groups. We had an amazing time
L. M. N.
Cannot express my gratitude enough. Our guide Lisa had the most detailed knowledge, not only of beer but also of Scotland. She was incredibly kind and easy to speak with. We came out of the tour feeling like beer connoisseurs! The beers on the tour were Scottish - a nice touch. We got to try beers of all sorts! The only thing I would change is have the guides drink more beer with us! This is a beer tour after all! 😉 Overall, 10/10. Lisa is amazing and so was this tour!
M. M.
The ST. Andrews Brewing Co is fabulous everything was great the atmosphere the location and the food also the knowledge of the guide
was second to none
The tasting was superb will definitely be doing this again

Great story by Sara! We had a lot of fun, while drinking nice beers in cool trendy bars. It’s not just facts about beer and history, it’s the fun story’s and details that make this a tour to remember.

Scot Beer Tours could not be a better company with which to work. At first, I had an issue with booking my ticket online. When I emailed to get the issue resolved, Karolina was so helpful and very quick to respond! She offered advice and knowledge on much more than just the tour, but also information about local beers, Edinburgh beer bars and even good places to find authentic local food. She could not have been more helpful.
I met Ross right in front of the City Chambers, just as instructed. He was early and we were able to start the tour a little early as well. Ross was a great guide for discussing the history of Edinburgh, and specifically about the history of brewing beer in this beautiful old city. My experience might have been somewhat unique, as I was the only one on the tour. Amy joined us as we were approaching the first beer venue, OX 184. Amy, a home brewster and local brewery collaborator, provided the background and expertise on the brewing process, though Ross is obviously very knowledgeable as well. We went thru ingredients and steps in the brewing process. I have been on many brewery tours and had a good basic understanding, but I was able to get a much more in-depth education today. Granted, it must be easier to get that experience, when it is only me and two beer tour guides. The beers were quite good, and also varied, which I really enjoyed. We then moved on to Salthorse. If only I lived in this city, so I could go to this incredible beer bar every day! Many bottles and cans chilled in a number of coolers. Buy the beers you want, and enjoy on site, or take them to enjoy elsewhere. Great selection of styles and breweries. I got another great serving of beer and history knowledge while we enjoyed two more brilliant brews. And finally, we ended at St Andrews Brewing Co (Potterow). At this point, Amy and Ross had definitely identified the beers I enjoy most and picked some very delicious selections here. The Puddleglum was just too good to not have it again! We enjoyed another discussion, finishing out the history and brewing aspects, and also covering some other deep and worldly topics as well.
The 25% off food was a great incentive to stay at St Andrews and have dinner. I ended up coming back later on for dinner (I cannot believe I am going to say this, but I highly recommend the haggis bon bon appetizer), because Ross was such a great tour guide that he took me to see some Harry Potter/JK Rowling related places and points of interest. This part was so above and beyond and I could not have been more appreciative of Ross taking that extra time. We apparently share an infinity for HP and it was awesome to see some of the local landmarks, associated with the writing of this phenomenal series. So a special thank you for that.
I truly enjoyed this experience, as a first timer to Scotland and specifically Edinburgh and also as an individual in a new city. Amy and Ross made me feel welcome and made this experience great, from beginning to end. All around, Scot Beer Tours is an excellent company offering extraordinary experiences based on beer and Scotland! What more could someone ask for? The tour is exactly how it is described, plus more.
The weather can obviously not be controlled, so be sure to be prepared for rain. But much of the time is spent indoors, at the beer venues, drinking beer. So if you do get rained on, don’t worry, there will be plenty of beer to cheer you up. Some streets and walking surfaces in the city are not too even and some places can be slippery when wet, so I would recommend wearing safe, comfortable shoes. Other than that, be sure to ask a lot of questions and really start a dialogue with your tour guides. They were great about answering questions and reviewing topics multiple times. I highly recommend a tour with this company, especially if you have a couple hours while free in Scotland. I cannot wait to come back to this city, or Glasgow, just to do some more drinking, and learning, with Scot Beer Tours!
D.
This beer tour was great! Sarah was an exceptional guide, and to be honest, outshined the beer itself. If you’re a fan of beer, a great time, and in Edinburgh, highly recommended to do this. What better way to learn the history of an amazing city than through beer?
D. G.
Very nice tour with our friendly guide Jenny that knows about what she was speaking ! It was a very different way to learn more about Edinburgh (beer) history. I can only recommand it.
S. S.
Despite the rain, our guide Jenny was up for the task. Ever cheerful and pleasant, her knowledge of Scotland’s historic beer past was a great lead into the various tastings we were poured. Local sours, stouts, pale ales, and more were enjoyed. Thanks Jenny...fantastic tour!!! Keep an open mind to trying new craft brews. I highly recommended it.
A. C.
Scotbeer tour was fantastic. Sarah our guide was lovely really knowledgable and a great guide to beer too! We had some wonderful beers and got to know a lot about Scottish brewing. Well worth doing. I would recommend this to all who like a beer and those who are not sure. Sarah will find a beer that you like!
C. C.
My husband and I had a great time with Jenny on this tour. We live in Edinburgh, and still learned a ton about the history of the city. The beer we tasted was unique, tailored to what we liked and we had a lovely time chatting with our guide. I would recommend this tour for locals or tourists.
L. B.
Ross did an AMAZING job walking us through the beautiful streets of Edinburgh while giving us a fascinating history lesson - what a wonderful way to learn about the city! The beer tastings were great as well. At the beginning of the tour, we were asked what types of beer we particularly enjoyed and Ross did his best to accommodate all of our tastes while giving us a variety of Scottish beers to try.
I discovered I am quite a fan of sour beers!
I also loved that this was a smaller tour. My husband and I felt more like we were walking around and drinking beer with a group of friends while getting to know an amazing city - instead of a large formal walking tour.
Highly recommend this experience!
C. I.
Can't recommend ScotBeer tours enough! We do beer tours whenever we travel all over the U.S. and world and this was honestly our favorite ever. It so perfectly combined the fun that drinking great beer should be with learning so much fascinating info, from a really hands-on look at brewing that you normally don't get from tours to such interesting insight into the beer history of Scotland. We did the Southside Edinburgh Brewery tour with Jenny, and a couple of other guides were along to refresh their knowledge, which is a great sign and indicative of just how on top of things your guide will be. They're super friendly and fun, to boot. I can't wait to get back to Scotland to do their other tour routes.
L. S.
Amy was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour about Edinburgh’s history and it’s beers. We sampled 9 beers over 3 different locations - you won’t leave feeling thirsty!
L. B.
Super evening! Great craic - and very knowledgeable guide in John who clearly knows his stuff about beer but I also came away with an alternative beer history of Edinburgh! This would make a great work night out - sociable and entertaining.
K. B.
Ross was a great guide and we really enjoyed the tour. With lots of information on Scottish beer. Definitely recommend the tour to anyone.
M. F.
This tour was more or less supposed to be a time killer for me and it turned into an immersive tour into the history of Edinburgh/Scotland through the power of hops, barley, and WATER. My tour guide basically led my by the taste buds through the process of beer as it matured through the ages and various time periods. The stories came alive. Our tour guide, AMY, was knowledgeable and refreshing. Highly recommend to all hop heads, beer snobs, and drunkards in the area.
L. O.
Absolutely loved the Scottish beer tour. A must visit/must do when you're in Edinburgh! Learned a lot about scotlands beer history and liked the beers we tasted. Recommend it!
A. N.
Such a wonderful tour around the historic center learning about the city and its brewing history. Probably the best city tour I've taken - Jenny's vivid presentation was like watching an addictive documentary! So much new information and how it all came beautifully together at the end of the tour. Highest praises from our hen do group!
A. R.
Very nice beer samples in interesting places accompaning the fascinating history of brewing beer in Edinburgh. The guide was very nice and passionate about the subject!
S. Y.
Great tour of Edinburgh! Learned so much about the history of the city I dont think I would get anywhere else! The places that we stoped for beer were amazing and I learned more about beer then I have had anywhere else!
A. A.
Good fun, tried loads of good beers, Jenny & Lisa were insightful and friendly. Definitely recommend
G. M.
Great tour and tasting, well worth it

Having seen the reviews on various websites we decided to book a beer tour for when we popped up to Edinburgh.
It certainly didn't disappoint, in fact it was one of the best tours I've been on. Amy was our guide for the 2 1/2 hours.
Her knowledge of the Edinburgh beer and brewing scene is unbeatable. We were taken to places off the beaten track and not one of them disappointed.
The beers chosen for us were all Scottish and again didn't disappoint.
We even found out about witches in brewing. I won't go into all of the details as it it'll spoil it for others. However, I learnt something interesting as a result.
Thank you Scotbeers and Amy, we both really enjoyed our tour and her enthusiasm and love of beer really shone through.
I cannot recommend this tour enough.
H. N.
Nice & historical tour within the city of Edinburgh. Must do for those who like beer and its story
O. G.
Loved the beer bus, learnt so much about brewing, tasted local beers and had a great time with the group! Definitely recommend!
M. s.
Excellent guide, friendly participants and good beer. You can go alone or with a friend/partner, it is an open and fun activity. Strongly recommend it!
M. D.
I was looking for a 'date day’ idea for myself and my partner and I’m so glad I found this option! We opted for the 'Leith Brewing Heritage Tour with Tastings’, as we live in Leith and were interested to get a different historical angle on the area. We were not disappointed at all! Sara was our main guide for the tour, but we were lucky enough to have Jenny along with us too for a bit. They both had so much local knowledge and interesting stories to tell about the area, the history and the wonderful and varied beers we sampled. There was great rapport throughout and we would not hesitate to recommend this as a fantastic activity to try out whether you’re visiting the city or a long-time local.

On a dark and wet December Sunday lunchtime we met Jenny for our SCOTBEER tour. We were caught up in her enthusiasm for not only real ale but the history surrounding beer making in Scotland and its impact on the economy and politics.
The three pubs we visited had a range of different and some freshly brewed and unique beers picked by Jenny for us to try, each tasting was tailored to our responses and questions.
From the cold, wet and apprehensive walk to the meeting place the experience not only lifted our spirits (partly due to the beer) but we left with new found knowledge and recommendations for other pubs to visit for food and beer.
J. J.
We came to Edinburgh for a weekend without any concrete plans or knowledge of the place. We thought a beer tour would be a nice way to start our holiday. We weren't sure whether we'd make it on time. And yes our flight was delayed. Sara (who helped book us on) was in touch the whole time and made sure we didn't feel like a burden. We made it to the tour.
And it was frankly one of the best introductions to Edinburgh. We walked around and learned the history of this lovely city; we drank a lot of really nice beer (good value for money); and we learned a few places to go to by ourselves later in the weekend (and places to avoid). Jenny (our tour guide) was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient - ever scouting out the kinds of beers we liked as a group. An evening really well spent.

My wife an I were lucky enough to have been given a gift certificate as a present. And went on the tour on Sunday the 14th ofJuly in Edinburgh. Our guide was Jenny who was fantastic, she seemed to have an unlimited knowledge of Edinburgh and how this was intertwined with beer/ale.
During the tour Jenny took the time to find out our knowledge of beer and our taste preferences and was able to select a fine selection of beer for us to taste. Which she so kindly emailed me the full list of all our samples we tried. (thanks Jenny).
I would definitely be recommended this tour to friends, and we are looking forward to returning to Edinburgh for some more beer.
J. M.
Could not recommend this more highly. Jenny was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and helpful. The history of beer making and Scotland was fascinating and it was the perfect balance of tasting, walking, and listening. THe City was packed and Jenny had lined up great places to show up, stop and have beer. Everything was well coordinated in advanced with plenty of room and a nice variety of beers. Jenny feels out the perfectly sized group for preferences in beer styles and modifies her selection. Loved the all Scottish beer tour. The people who sign up for this tour are the kind of folks I enjoy spending a few hours with. Great value. This is a must do!!!!!
H. B. L.
Had an amazing experience on this tour. Sara was our guide and she was a wealth of knowledge! Would recommend doing this tour.

Our tour guide Jenny was friendly and entertaining. She made history fun and really knows her stuff.
J. V.
Jenny was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable. I learned a lot on this tour, and was able to try some great beers.
E. H.
Really interesting and informative tour - definitely widened my beer drinking horizons! Would certainly recommend!
J. B.
John as put together his love and knowledge of beer with his love and knowledge of Edinburgh. He story tells about Edinburgh history and how beer has been an intricate part of it along the way while walking you through some of the best parts of town. He has worldly experience in the beer business and just plan loves to talk and drink beer. I could not recommend a better tour to not only taste some great Scottish beers, but pulls some very little know facts about the History of such a great city!
F. T.
Really informative, Jenny was a great host. Got some really adventurous beers that I have never tasted before. Overall it was really entertaining.
V. B. I.
A wonderful way to experience Edinburgh. Jenny is an amazing host and the whole experience was really fulfilling. Jenny took us to cool places we never would have gone to and gave us beers we never would have tried. 13 stars out of 5.

Beerilliant Tour
My brother and i done the tour including the brewery as well due to the weather it ended up was just the two of us. Jenny was awesome. She really knows her stuff. The two of us are locals and we learnt things we didn't even know about. As it was just the three of us it didn't have the tour vibe. it was like a group of friends sitting in a pub talking about beer and history over a drink. I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to do a walking a tour with a difference.
K. J.
An out of the box experience, really enjoyed the tour with Jenny. Was definitely a unique and interesting approach, would recommend!!
