We did a 3-day Scottish Highland and Isle of Skye trip with our tour guide Bryan Smith and it was an amazing journey. The hills came alive with his storytelling skills and I can back to Edinburgh with an amazing respect for Scottish culture, people and their forever struggle to find their own identity. Coming from India, it made a world of sense to me. Bryan made sure the music we heard on the bus was in keeping with the places we visited and that was an added plus. Super happy to have picked up this tour for my first taste of Scottish Highlands. Thank you Brian and Hairy Coo. Would like to recommend you guys many times over.

Book this trip! We had Scott has our guide and he was the best tour guide we've ever experienced. I went with my partner and we both had such a great time. Scott had just as much energy on day 3 as day 1. He always put so much effort into stopping off at sites and telling stories to make the experience feel real. He was a great storyteller and got us all involved. We learnt so much about Scotland and saw so many sites, this Highland tour was definitely worthwhile. Scott made the trip effortless for us and kept us all involved as well. Thanks Scott for an awesome tour and the Hairy Coo for an experience we'll never forget.

ROSE IS A NATIONAL TREASURE! Scotland must protect her at all costs!!! I went on the 3 day Isle of Skye tour from Edinburgh and holy cow our driver Rose was amazing. She went above and beyond to make our trip the best ever. Our driver was constantly thinking of ways to make our trip better. She had the best suggestions for what to do at each stop and has stored an endless amount of Scottish history to share with the group. The bus had great big windows so you never miss a view and you stop at the coolest of places. I wish I took a picture with Rose but no worries I’ll never forget how much fun I had! Take a look at the pictures I did take and see how awesome it is for your self.
P.S even if you don’t want to be filled with Scottish history, Rose adapts each of her tours to the crowd. She’s an expert on Harry Potter, Outlander, Game of Thrones so there’s something for everybody!!! 94729726383/10 would recommend

I had a great day trip through the Highlands and to Loch Ness with the Hairy Coo! Ryan our driver and guide was excellent and kept us well entertained on the long drive with some interesting bits of local history, jokes, and music to sing along to or just to listen to and enjoy. It was a really long and exhausting day but the stops along the way for pictures and quick breaks as well as Ryan's energy really kept the group going! What a beautiful day out, I would've loved to explore more of the Highlands - maybe I'll book a longer tour another time! My only suggestion would be to offer these trips in smaller groups, less people would make for a more intimate and personal experience and a smaller vehicle would probably allow more access to some locations. Overall, a great trip though and can only highly recommend it!

I highly recommend this company. Stephen was amazing and funny and we had so much fun during those 3 days (I booked the 3-days Isle of Skye). If you are looking for a boring tour (hello Karens!), please do not book this tour. This tour is for people who likes having fun! I learn so much about Scotland history and we have visited amazing spots. Thanks again Hairy Coo and Stephen!

Just did the highlands 3 day tour with them. Our guide, John (aka King of the North) was wonderful. Told great stories, kept us entertained, great sense of humor, and took care of us. We went as a family of four (with 2 teenagers), and all loved it. I would highly recommend this tour group. I feel like we got lucky.

Seeing the Scottish countryside was easily as important as seeing Edinburgh To get my small taste of Scotland in the two and a half days that I was there. I was traveling alone, But didn’t really think about that beforehand, nor as it turned out, while I was on the tour. There were a couple other singletons, and kind ones at that, who asked if I’d like to have my picture taken. We strike up a conversation end connected at the various stops: that is to say you don’t have to feel alone when you’re by yourself. The coach was full, but comfortable. The driver, Jim was terrific. His historic and geographic knowledge and pride of Scotland made the trip both educational and interesting. His sense of humor and engagement with the tourists made it fun. I highly recommend this tour.

Hairy Coo and John are the bomb! I took my teenage sons for a two-week trip to Scotland and they both agreed this was by far the highlight. I was never into the idea of taking a tour however the intimidating reality of driving through an area I was unfamiliar with and the fact that Hairy Coo pricing was reasonable convinced me. It was so worth the investment! Hairy Coo took all the stress off me so we could just sit back and enjoy all the highlights John, our tour guide, brought to us. He not only cultivated an environment of welcomeness, safety and comfort but he was well-informed and hysterical. I haven't laughed this much...ever! Not to mention have I ever learned so much history. Since he told it in story form the information was incredibly engaging; he made history fun! John kept a clean bus, attended to the smallest details to make the trip feel special and brought out every highlight Scotland had to offer. He nailed it and if every tour bus trip throughout Europe were like this I would be sold on one for all future travels. If you're interested in taking a tour bus trip, or even if you are not, take this one!! I've recommended to all my friends and family because it's perfect for every single age group. This take on touring brings out the very best in travel and has made me a believer. They clearly love what they do. Hairy Coo, expand throughout Europe!!

Had an absolutely wonderful time with The Hairy Coo touring Scotland yesterday. We went all over the Highlands, saw Glencoe, Three Sisters and Loch Ness. Our guide John was so fun and taught everyone so much on the journey and back. Very grateful for this day and the experience. 🏴

My friend and I had the most wonderful trip with The Hairy Coo. Scott made the trip! He was fantastic, you could tell that he loves what he does and so it made the trip that bit extra special. The Highlands are magical and I would recommend if anyone has time to go and visit them especially with the The Hairy Coo.

The tour was amazing with lots of stories about Scotland and it’s history by the tour guide. The drive was comfortable and hardly felt like we travelled so far to and fro. Every stop was soooo mesmerising we loved it. Didn’t expect to have so much fun along the way and at every stop. Don’t miss out on the boat ride in lochness. It’s pretty stunning. Attached a few of my clicks for your reference.

This tour was beyond expectations. Great views, lovely atmosphere, interesting stories and a lot of good music along the road. Will definitely book a tour with the Hairy Coo again next time we're in Scotland. Thank you Steve! //The Swedish Couple

We booked the three day trip to the Isle of Skye are had a blast. So glad we picked the Hairy Coo for this adventure. You need to use this company and when you do, request Brian Smith. Best tour guide I have ever had. Fun, entertaining, engaging, and full of historical knowledge about the country. The best part of was listening to his 80's playlist of Scottish bands! All restaurants he recommended were amazing. Our favorite was Hettie's Tea Room in Pitlochry - best shortbread and cakes in the country. Second favorite was the Chippy in Portree with their world class Fish and Chips. We were sad when the trip came to an end and would book another with the Hairy Coo in a heartbeat!
L. R.
Our tour was fantastic! Very entertaining for our teen girls. Brian gives good energy. He was spot on with coordinating stops and music. He had something for everyone. He was very friendly and a great story teller. I was bummed out we didn’t stop at a few places on the itinerary but understood. He made up for it. You need patience on multi-day tours. Food stops were awesome. Loved The Chippy and Hetties tea room the best! If you get motion sickness don’t sit in the back of the bus! Be ready for small narrow windy roads. Nothing Brian couldn’t handle. It’s a great alternative to having to drive yourself. Be ready to arrive late in the evenings and possibly miss dinner reservations. Book in advance in Inverness. The land is just bonnie. So much to ponder. Adrian’s Guest House is recommended!
We will never forget you Brian! Slàinte.

Our family went on a Hairy Coo tour fall of 2019. We had a wonderful day visiting Sterling Castle, Doune Castle, Loch Lomand, and of course seeing the cutest hairy coos. The tour was entertaining, informative, and worth our while! It was a wonderful way to see more of Scotland during our quick trip. More than that, the customer service displayed by the company was top notch. Soon after returning from this fabulous day, my aunt realized she had left her ipad at Doune Castle. We called Hair Coo tours and they quickly organized for the next day's tour to pick it up and deliver it to us in Edinburg, a life saver for us as we did not have a car during our visit. The quick thinking and willingness to help stuck with us. I would recommend this company for anyone looking to see more of Scotland in a laid back yet informative way with a company that truly cares!

This was the best thing we did on our trip to Edinburgh. Took the 1 day through Glencoe to Loch Ness. Great value for money. You get to see a lot, plenty of interesting stops and our guide made it all come alive, non stop history, facts and humour!
A. J.
This was a wonderful tour!! Our guide Ryan was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, funny and accommodating. The bus was comfy and we made plenty of stops. We were given ample time to take beautiful pictures and enjoy the views. I HIGHLY recommend this company, this tour and ask for Ryan if possible!
B. G. A.
The tour to Loch Ness is a must!! It gets you out of Edinburgh and seeing the real Scotland, the amazing Highlands!! Our guide was John and he was funny, knowledgeable and full of facts and stories. Loved the tunes as well as the stories and some great stops along the way. Don't miss your chance to do this trip and make sure it's the Hairy Coo
B. R.
I went on the Loch Ness, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands and Ben Nevis Tour and the guide was Stephen. Stephen was very knowledgeable and told some very interesting and entertaining stories. The sights were stunning on the drive throughout the day and we had plenty of stops to take photos and use the bathroom. I recommend going on the optional extra boat tour at Loch Ness, this was really interesting and showed some lovely views. Stephen did a great job on the tour, I especially liked how he linked his stories to certain songs, an excellent way to tell stories, and he even stopped so we could see some highland cows! Highly recommended this tour.
z.
We gad a great time on our Hairy Coo tour! Our tour guide Michael told us really interesting stories (and some funny ones as well)! I highly recommend this tour for anyone on a citytrip to Edinburgh so they can get a feel for the Highlands too!
J. J.
Rose was out tour guide and she was absolutely incredible! So knowledgeable and fun, we learnt so much about the history of Scotland on the 12.5 hour trip. We left wanting more, it was absolutely brilliant!

Made a solo trip over to edinburgh, and after about a week of exploring on my own, I decided to take a bus tour. The Hairy Coo was by far the best choice I've made in bus tours. My guide Stefan was awesome. He had high energy and enthusiasm when the majority of the bus had low energy or silence. He was a great driver, DJ, and story teller and made the time to stop at a few extra spots. The Tour I chose was the 1 day loch ness and scottish highlands tour. The day was packed full of site seeing, extra excusions, and stops in smaller villages for food and bathroom breaks. I will for sure be rebooking with The Hairy Coo in the future.
D. M.
Im from India. I did the Lochness and Glencoe Tour. Our tour guide was BRIAN and he was the life of this tour. Never a dull moment could reach us till Brian was there. We sang, we heard stories, we heard Scottish songs and experienced the true beauty of Scotland. Thank You The Hairy Coo tours
S. B.
An amazing tour - highly recommend if you only have a short amount of time and want to see lots of Scotland. The stories are really well told and John (King of the North) was very funny, entertaining and knowledgeable. You will also stop at an ice cream place and will die because it's soo good.
C. C.
For my first trip to Scotland I wanted to cover a lot of ground (literally) and the 3-day tour to the Isle of Skye and Inverness hit all the spots I wanted to see...PLUS MORE! Stephen, our tour guide/bus driver/whiskey connoisseur/historian storyteller/proud owner of bad jokes was AMAZING! We were laughing our way around this amazing country.
I've dreamed of visiting Scotland since I was kid. Thanks to the Hairy Coo, my first visit was everything I ever dreamed about. Thank you!
K. Z.
I have been with the Hairy Coo on the 3-day tour to the Isle of Skye, Inverness & Highlands in August 2021, and it has been a real adventure and dive into Scotland’s treasures.
Our guide, John, also known as the King in the North, has been generously sharing with us stunningly beautiful locations, endless stories and legends and lots of fun and jokes.
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in exploring Scotland.
J. A.
Great way to experience the Highlands and Loch Ness in a day. Although you could spend months exploring the Highlands, if you’re limited on time it’s a fantastic way to enjoy it. Ryan was a superb host, entertainer, driver and teacher on the highlight of Scotland’s rich history.
V. N.
Had a fantastic experience with the Hairy Coo tour company. We booked for the day trip to highlands, Glencoe and Loch ness. Ryan, our guide and driver was the ⭐ of the day. He was extremely knowledgeable and kept all of us engaged throughout the journey.
Few things that might be helpful:
1. Do carry change with you. In some places, you have to pay 50p to use public toilets.
2. If you intend to do the ferry ride in Loch ness, then it's better you pay in advance in cash to your guide. It's £16.5 per person. There are couple of ATMs in the first stop (Callander). However, we found one of the ATMs to be faulty. So be prepared just in case.
c. c.
Great one day tour if you don't have a lot of time to explore the highlands. Our guide Anthony was very fun, and gave lots of history and trivia related to the Aires we visited. We left on time and were able to get back on time as well as well as covered all the spots, and one extra. Overall really good experience and highly recommend!
E. H.
What a great day. The most beautiful snowy day but that did not stop The Hairy Coo bus. We saw so many places and had a great boat ride on Loch Ness. The highlight of our trip to Edinburgh. Thanks to Marti the best Hairy Coo driver ( if you know, you know )
B. 1.
My wife and I used Hairy Coo for a 3 day tour of the Highlands and it was amazing. The guide as knowledgeable and fun and the tour itswlf was amazing. I highly recommend it.
K. S.
I loved it! If you are looking for a great experience defenetly this is what you need! We took a tour to Loch Ness and it was such a great trip, Rosy the tourist guide is the best! I definitely recommend the Hairy Coo 💖🙃
R. V. N.
Had a fantastic private day tour with my family. From booking to drop off we couldn’t have been more happy! Brian, our guide/ driver was awesome! His wonderful stories, his excellent choice of music and his super personality made it a “trip to remember”
Many thanks Laura and Especially Brian.
K. N.
This tour exceeded my expectations! I was on this tour with my mom and sister, all of us with different interests, and we all had a great time on the tour.
What took this tour to a 10/10 was our driver/tour guide Ryan. He went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent tour. While driving he would switch off between giving us summaries of Scottish history and playing music by Scottish artists. He picked interesting stops along the tour and gave us tips at each one so we got the best experience possible. Overall just an awesome human being who you could tell really loves his job.
I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see the Highlands!
H. B.
Hubby and I greatly enjoyed the 1 day tour to Loch Ness. The bus was comfy, the route well planned, but the highlight was our guide Scott. Full of great stories and useful recommendations, fantastic sense of humour, we were happy to have chosen this company and felt lucky to have gotten such a guide. Well worth the money.

My Sister and I were grateful to HairyCoo. We had a memorable time in Scottish Highlands. Thank you Steve! He is our tour guide and bus driver. No dull moments during the tour. He is so informative, and energetic. Aye! Highly Recommended! Thank you Steve! Thank you Hairy Coo! Till next time!

Had a fantastic experience of journey to Highland with our Driver & Guide 'King of North' John. We totally enjoyed his company and were amazed with his passion and energy. We had 3 day tour Isle of Skye Inverness Highlands and Glenfinnan Viaduct Tour from Edinburgh. He manages thr driving and story telling with great perfection. I would highly recommend John from Hairy Coo for an amazing and hassle free tour.
N. K.
It was Amazing ,John was a great Driver cum Guid,he made us feel so comfortable and in joy mode. One energetic person I have ever meetIt could not have been a better person to travel with.5 stars to him
M. W.
We had the BEST time with Hairy Coo! Our driver, Stephen, was fun and entertaining and clearly well loved by all the vendors we met. My family did the 3 day Highlands bus tour - I can't stop recommending it to people. Truly lovely, enough time at each spot. Stephen was thoughtful when I got motion sick and was helpful for the passengers with mobility issues. Bus was very clean and comfortable!

If you have a limited time in Scotland and want to make the most of it, do yourself a favour and book a tour with the hairy coo!
We went on a three day trip to the Isle of Skye and the Highlands and I cannot stop gushing about this amazing trip. Absolutely loved every single stop we made on the way and our tour guide Brian as absolutely amazing. His story telling us incredible captivating and makes you want to know every single detail of the Scottish history. His DJ skills are also worth mentioning, as he had the whole bus singing by the end of our trip. Also thank you for not going too hard on the Scottish accent so we could actually understand everything perfectly well 🤓
If you’re taking the three day tour, make sure to take the chance and go to lunch with your tour guide in Pitlochry! Best lunch and cheesecake ever!
Seen so much of this beautiful country in just tree days while also learning so much about the history and the places we visited. Would definitely come back and book another tour with these guys!
Cheers from the two German girls, who would totally welcome Brian to Germany so he can prove that he absolutely not handle the German autobahn.
A. G.
One of the best tour providers of Scotland.
The tour guide was very funny and informative…
Cheers to the Hairy coo company…

Great tour. Our driver Ryan was funny, full of energy which kept us going for such a long day especially with two children. Frequent stops for toilets, refreshments and photos and short break. Breath taking views as you'd expect from Scotland. Great experience. Thank you.
B. K.
We did the day tour to Highlands and Loch Ness with Marty and we had a great time, higly recommended!
It is over 550km drive and you really see a lot in one day. We didnt do the lochness boat, istead just had a stroll around fort augustus and the bank of the lake (east)
C. S.
Went on a really awesome 3-day bus tour to Highlands and Isle of Skye with the Hairy Coo. Our tour guide/ driver John was fantastic! So knowledgeable, such a proud Scotsman, very funny. He shared a lot of interesting information and kept really good track of the schedule. All the places we saw were great.
N. J.
The tour was really good and enjoyable. For the tour package I would give 4 star but the extra star is for Mr. Colin who was the guide and driver of the bus. He is well knowledgeable, have a great sense of humor and very friendly. I would definitely recommend The Hairy Coo and you would be lucky if you get Mr. Colin as your guide.
J. H.
We had a lovely tour through the most amazingly beautiful countryside. The tour guide was helpful, very informative about the areas we were traversing, and a Wonderful driver. At no point was I at all nervous about his professional ability to keep us safe and informed about the areas were we passing through. We saw amazing views that I’d never be able to see if I had to personally drive- especially since I am used to driving on the right side of the road!
R. C.
Great experience, havent laughed in bus so much lately😁the driver Scott was awesome, bus itself nice. The route took all day from eight to eight, ride was comfortable and there was places with more leg room, so even taller ones do not feel cramped.
Recomended

This tour is the best way to spend your money when in Edinburgh not for too long!
We had the most amazing time during the trip, outside the bus to walk about towns like Callander, as well as inside listening to our driver John's impressive way of conveying all sorts of knowledge about the highlands. John, the king of the north (#there can only be one), was the most wonderful and hilarious bloke one could wish for to spend the day with. We would more than recommend choosing a day with The Hairy Coo, and would do this trip all over again anytime.
M. V. N.
My family and I did the private tour today and could not recommend it enough. Our tour guide, Brian, was absolutely incredible. He gave us informative and fun history facts about everything we went by and stopped at. Arguably the best private highland tour in Scotland. Cheers, Brian! Thank you for making our day so memorable.
K. L.
Great to see parts of Scotland that we wouldn’t have thought about visiting. Absolutely stunning scenery even in the bad weather, the dark clouds made for some incredibly dramatic landscapes!
The commentary our guide/coach driver Antony (I think) was genuinely very interesting, me and my partner have never been too interested in history before but our guide’s enthusiasm for Scottish history made the stories really captivating and we’ve learn a lot!
Great trip, highly recommend for anyone who doesn’t want to hire a car and wants to see more of Scotland than just the city they’ve landed in.
C. C.
Wonderful tour!!! Definitely the highlight of our family's 3 day trip to Scotland. Our driver John (AKA True King of the North) was a fantastic and charismatic ambassador who kept every mile interesting with nuggets of geography, history, and local perspective all along the way - delivered with sincerity, wit and a fabulous sense of humor. Thanks again John, we'll definitely return to Scotland!
L. S.
Rose is a genius guide! I went on the 3-day Isle of Skye tour, our driver, Rose, was amazing. Full of energy, Rose is a source of Scottish history. You never get bored, the bus is comfortable with large windows, so you don't miss any landscape. The stops are respected, and the bus route is incredible. I recommend !
E. K.
What a fun trip! We had Scott from Scotland as our guide and he really went above and beyond to ensure we had a fun day. You can tell he is really passionate about his job and thinks of all the little details to make sure we have the best time. Things like wearing a kilt (dagger in sock included!) timing jokes PERFECTLY with scenery and even bringing a Scottish flag for us to take photos with.
It's a long day, but if you like Harry Potter, Outlander, Monarch of the Glen, Loch Ness Monster stories, Scottish history, etc. You will love it! It's hard to be bored on the bus cause there is great Scottish music and interesting stories. If you are in Edinburgh and want to see the Highlands, take the hassle out of it and go with Hairy Coo. All you have to do in show up for a really fun day!
H. Z.
1 day tour is amazing! You cover so much ground in just 1 day; perfect if your time in Scotland is limited. Our driver, Bryan, was so fun, knowledgeable, and helpful. I’ll be choosing The Hairy Coo again anytime we’re back in Scotland. Their group is so accommodating and helpful - a shining example of Scottish hospitality.
M. T.
I did the 1-day Loch Ness tour and it was a wonderful experience! Anthony was a phenomenal tour guide and I was continually impressed by the infectious energy and excitement (plus wicked sense of humor) he brought to the entire 12-hour day. The itinerary was perfect: plenty of opportunities for photos and quick stops at lots of different monuments and small villages throughout the Highlands, but more relaxed towards the end of the day, post-Loch Ness. Definitely worth the money and more—the entire booking process through the Hairy Coo was incredibly smooth, and I’ll definitely return for future trips if I ever find myself in Scotland again.
A. W. I.
The tours they offer worth every peny and more ! I've learned so much about Scotland history thanks to our amazing guide !!!
Will definitely have another tour for the next time.
J. C. T.
My second time getting on the hairy coo tour bus! Absolutely amazing! I have previously done the one day tour, loved it so much I decided to do the 3 day tour this time. Best decision ever! Our tour guide Jhon was brilliant, very welcoming, funny and knowledgeable. I'll definitely be going back and trying out the 5 day tour in the future! Thank you so much Hairy Coo!
G. M.
We took the 3-day Highlands and Isle of Skye tour with Brian and would highly recommend it! A great way to see Scotland if you have a limited amount of time. Brian was very knowledgeable, funny, and kept everyone entertained for the entire experience. Great tour!
E. B.
My dad and I did a 1 day bus tour of the highlands with Bryan Smith as our driver and tour guide. The experience was highlighted by his awesome playlist and hilarious commentary. At our stop in Fort Augustus we were late getting back to the bus and while they were waiting for us Bryan had them singing along to music, thanks for not leaving us behind! Overall it was a great trip and we will definitely be doing more tours with the Hairy Coo in the future!
R. M.
My heart belongs to Scotland. Our tour guide was Brian Smith. What an amazing tour guide he was! He has a robust laugh with a great sense of humor, a talented story teller and knowledgable historian. He brought Scotland past and present to life. He made each of us feel like we were important. Played both traditional and current Scottish music and knew just when to play what song at the right time. Harry Coos is only as good as the people they employ. They apparently know how to pick them. I would add photos to this post, but I am still in the process of editing. Brian... Bob and I are so grateful for the time and talent you shared with us! Thank you again!!!
J. D.
My partner and I did the 1-Day Loch Ness, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands and Ben Nevis Tour and we would do it again in a heartbeat! It was so fun and our tour guide Steven made the trip memorable with his stories, history lessons, and "Scottish" music! We also fed some hairy coos and got to view some truly breathtaking scenes of the highlands! Would recommend! There were also ample bathroom breaks, something I was worried about before getting on!
J. G.
Did the Highlands and loch Ness day tour solo and couldn't have asked for a better time. Beautiful landscape and engaging commentary. Plus a lot of hairy coos!! I saw one review below mention that they use all 5 of the seats in the back, which for him was a negative (probably obese), but for me and the family next to me we bonded and ended up having an even better time than if we had sat alone.
On the loch Ness boat ride, the bar sells very good scotch at an inexpensive price, highly recommend.
R. W.
This tour was the best possible choice my mother and I could have made for such a short visit. Steven was great and incredibly knowledgeable. We has a blast with The Hairy Coo and will recommend to everyone we know until the end of time to join this tour service!
100/10 would recommend!
J. O.
We could not have asked for a better tour and better time. Steve and Tony were very knowledgeable and fun.
J. A.
We loved the tour with the Hairy Coo. Our guide, Freddie, was awesome. He made sure to make us feel comfortable through our whole journey. He shared his knowledge of Scottish history whilst sharing scottish music. He is genuine and kind hearted; we could not have asked for a better guide!
E.
We loved our day tour with The Hairy Coo! Anthony was hilarious, friendly, and informative, entertaining us with historical stories, fun facts, and jokes throughout the drive. Highly recommend if you’d like to see more of Scotland on your visit!
G. C.
Do not miss this tour! It was fabulous! Brain was awesome - hilarious, knowledgeable and passionate about his country. He'll leave you with a love of Scotland! The tour takes you to lush Highland vistas, Loch Ness, "Hairy Coos" and souvenir shops. You hear about the battles of Scotland and the present day lifestyle. He also played an amazing playlist of Scottish related music that gives you an appreciation for contemporary Scottish bands! People from many countries take this tour and by the end of the 12 hours, we still wanted more! It was a memory of a lifetime. Thanks you Brian and Hairy Coo. You do Scotland proud! ♡♡♡
C. C.
We took a 3-day Scotland tour with The Hairy Coo. It was absolutely amazing - all thanks to our brilliant tour guide - the one and only, Stephen.
His Scottish sense of humour, deep knowledge of Scottish history and mind-blowing sense of punctuality, kept us entertained at each and every point. We were all really left wondering how he is managing to continuously entertain us while keeping a check on time and driving so efficiently, with so much ease. One of the BEST tour guides I have ever come across.
Note: Stephen has a fantastic Spotify playlist from which he plays songs in between his tales, stories and short history lessons. Make sure to ask for it if you happen to be touring with him (he will be more than happy to share).
@TheHairyCoo - Please fix poor Stephen's jumping seat..!! :) :)
K. H.
We had a great time on the one-day tour...well worth it! You'll see more of Scotland in one day than you probably have of your own backyard in a year. Our guide Stephen was excellent 👍 cheers!
A. B.
What a lovely experience we had! Huge thanks to our fantastic tour guide, Freddy, who introduced us to various aspects of Scottish history and culture in such a way that we cannot wait to come back. 😊 We highly recommend The Hairy Coo 👍👍👍
B. H.
My fiancé and I went on the Glencoe, Loch Ness and Pitlochry Highland tour recently on our first holiday together and all we can say is wow (but in a good way). Our tour guide was John (yes aka “The Only King of The North”) and he made all of us laugh our butts off without even trying because he was such a naturally funny guy, clearly made for the role of a tour guide as he also had the knowledge to go with it. He also made everyone feel like they fitted in and he handled that 12 hour drive like a champ, never let there be a dull moment even if he was exhausted himself. If the company already had such an asset like him working for them then I 100% trust that all the other guides would be just as good, and they were amazing at their jobs considering he was a tour guide and driver in one. Would definitely book with them again when (yes when because Scotland is amazing) we come back.
Regards, Beth and Nathan (aka Bruce from down under)

I took this tour with 8 of my friends when we visited Scotland for a wedding. Our tour guide was Graham. He was funny, energetic and very entertaining. Our tour was packed full of beautiful sites and interesting history. I truly enjoyed this tour and Graham. I will recommend this to anyone who visits Scotland!
J. D. M.
Small details + greatest guide (thank you, Anthony) + Nice places = BEST moments.
We can't imagine our trip to Scotland without your company. Perfect option for a three day tour without driving.

Having never been on a tour before I wasn't sure what to expect - I went on the 3 day Highlands/Isle of Skye tour - our guide John was excellent and I would HIGHLY recommend this company. Scotland itself is absolutely incredible and I felt like we really got our money's worth, we saw so many beautiful and famous places, there was something for everyone in my family to love! John was funny, super knowledgable about Scottish history, local customs, folklore, Scottish beer/spirits, and even the local flora/fauna!! He was an incredible resource to have and really enhanced our travels, I can't imagine having done the same trip without his knowledge. Not to mention his excellent playlists and general enthusiasm!!! Our group was small, about 16, and I know if you book a tour with The Hairy Coo tour group you will not be disappointed!

Great tour, beautiful scenery. It was a long day but our tour guide Scott made it fun by making jokes, pointing out places we passed and telling the history, and playing music related to it. Plus I got to pet not one, but two hairy coos!!

My friend and I are from the states and we spent 10 days going around the UK, ending in Edinburgh. We booked the free hairy coo tour on the recommendation of a friend from back home. We were a little bummed and apprehensive about the fact that it would take up an entire day of only two that we had here. It was absolutely worth it. The tour is from 8am - 6pm and our tour guide Graham was perfectly suited for the job. He told us about various interesting things between the stops and played Scottish music when he wasn't talking. At the actual stops he made sure everyone knew where the good bathrooms were as well as the best places to eat and buy souvenirs. He made some extra stops for us so we could go down the edge of a loch as well as a lookout to see an amazing view of the highlands and even saw a rainbow. It blows my mind that this tour is free because it covered so much and is very well done. 10/10. Blew my expectations out of the water. Definitely do it if you're in the area and are considering it.

Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond & Whisky Day Trip from Edinburgh was the highlight of our trip to Scotland and was a perfect mix of castles, history, lochs, and beautiful scenery outside of Edinburgh in a day.
Our tour guide, Brian Smith, was awesome. We really enjoyed his knowledgeable and engaging stories, but also his enthusiasm, humor and DJ’ing skills. His selection of Scottish music/artists was lots of fun. He also took us on a short hike for a spectacular view of Loch Lomond that we never would have found on our own.
We visited many other interesting sites including the Kelpies, Stirling Castle with views of the highlands and the Robert the Bruce Monument, lunch in Aberfoyle, Three Lochs Drive lookout for view of Caledonian mountains, and feeding the hairy coos (Hamish Dubh, Holly and Honey). As Game of Thrones & Outlander fans, we opted for visiting Doune Castle while some of the others toured Deanston’s Distillery. The stops were well-timed and we had plenty of time to explore. The bus was new, clean and comfortable and the July weather couldn’t have been better.
We will definitely return to Scotland and book a longer tour with Brian to explore more of this beautiful country!

Absolutely amazing! So much fun and ridiculously entertaining. Drivers were skilled on the road as well as super knowledgeable. When I come back with my family I’ll be booking with them again! Anthony is a hilarious tour guide!!
a. c.
We really enjoyed the trip and Rose the guide/driver was very good, helpful and knowledgeable. We loved isle of Sky. Suggestion for future tours would be to make it slightly longer with extra time in Isle of Sky and few more 10 minutes stops for photo's as there were many lay-by places on tours where we would have loved to get out and take few pictures..
C. Y.
I found this tour online and it was just what I was looking for. The whole journey around the Highlands was truly an amazing experience thanks to our guide and the places we got to visit. Breathtaking views, bloody history, legends, castles, great food with vegan options. I did the 3 day tour and although I thoroughly enjoyed it I think if you have time I would recommend the 5 day tour as 3 days was too short despite seeing so much. Stephen our guide was great, his storytelling and knowledge accompanied by a great play list made it more interesting, taking us to parts of history I didn't know of, widening my knowledge on this beautiful land.
I think it was a well organised tour and would highly recommend it.
M. F.
This tour was the best tour I've been on!
We went to the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, Cairngorm and Loch Lomond, Trossachs National Park, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Doune Castle, Culloden Battlefield, and Clava Cairns staying overnight in Inverness.
Our tour guide Colin (a ginger with the Scottish brogue and kilt!!) was very knowledgeable of the history and the myths of the Highlands keeping us entertained all through the journey and stopping at Instagram-worthy locations so that we could get the best shots of the gorgeous scenery and different famous filming locations - all while navigating through some dangerous roads.
I highly recommend this tour and this company as well as the great guide!

A fantastic bus tour. Brian, our bus driver was amazing, entertaining and full of information. My sister and I had a wonderful time, saw incredible scenery and had lovely people on our bus. Highly recommended 🥇🥇🥇

Thank your for the unforgettable tour, Brian!
Hands down - we could not have asked for a better guide, location or tour.
My mother and I loved the 3-days highlands tour. Brian is a entertaining, funny, caring and experienced tour guide.

Highly Recommended: On April 13, 2018, I took the 3-day Scottish Highland Tour with Mark as my tour guide. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Mark was fantastic giving us information on the history and legends of Scotland. We were able to pack 5 days of tour into only 3 days. There were plenty of bathroom and food stops so don't fret about this part. We were taken to all the places listed and given time to take photos and wander around the sites. I loved feeding the Highland Coos (cows). Mark even arranged for us to take a Loch Ness boat tour (open air upstairs and closed with windows downstairs) if we wanted, even though it was not on the agenda. The boat tour was highly entertaining. The boat had a sticker on the window of Nessie, so you could record fake footage making it look like you recorded the monster- just in case you missed the real thing :). The B&B (Ardross Glencairn Guest House in Inverness) was clean, well maintained and, welcoming. The breakfast was excellent as well. Outlander fans will see several locations related to the show (standing stones, castle, highland folk museum, battlefield). I will book this tour again with my boyfriend since he couldn’t make this trip. I was extremely impressed, and the tour exceeded all my expectations. A special thanks to Mark, who absolutely made the trip memorable with his narrative and stories. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

DO NOT choose any other bus tour when in Scotland.Just DONT!!
First of all every other agency asked us for 180€ for two persons for the day trip (Glencoe /Loch Ness/ Fort Augustus/pitlochry/ commando memorial/ Callander/ trossachs) and we payed 136€ for the same thing with the hairy coo.
In fact choose the hairy coo and be specific asking for Anthony-”the cupcake” -to be your driver.a real comedian,a restless man with plenty of knowledge about the whole trip.frankly he’s the 80% of the tour.12 hours passed without boredom because ,of the scenery of course but ,mainly because of him.talking and explaining everything on the route and…singing of course (he’s terrible but you’ll love him).Antony if you’re reading this, you probably know who I am ,I’m sorry for almost loosing the bus and thank you for this experience!!
P.S. don’t go on a boat tour at Fort Augustus-loch Ness lake etc..go grab a beer at the restaurant by the edge of the lake and enjoy the peacefulness or stay at the canal and wait for the boats to do go up and down through the Caledonian system while grabbing a bite by the water.
A. A.
Took a 1 day tour and had an awesome time!
Small group, comfortable vehicle and Michael was great and very entertaining. He was also very flexible, quickly adjusting to both weather and our requests.
If I am ever back in Scotland, I will definitely use these guys again!
M. B.
One of the best tours in a long time! Highly recommended if you are in Edinburgh for a day and want to get a taste of Scottish Highlands, Castles and Lochs.
The tour started early in the morning from the Royal Mile close to the Edinburgh Castle with our fabulous guide, Brian! The various stops included The Kelpies, Stirling Castle, Lake of Menteith, Hairy Coos, Doune Castle and The Scottish Highlands.
Along with the fabulous sights of Scotland, the highlight of the tour was our guide, Brian. He kept us all entertained with his stories, jokes and games. He made every bit of the tour enjoyable and memorable. A big thank you to Brian and Hairy Coo Tours for making the tour a great experience!
R. B.
WONDERFUL!!! I'm just back from an amazing 3 day tour of the Highlands, The Isle of Skye, Glen Coe, Inverness, Culloden Moor, Highland Folk Museum, etc. The itinerary The Hairy Coo offers was the best I could find in a 3 day tour. We saw SO MANY beautiful things on our journey. But our guide Stephen really made the trip!! He was entertaining, knowledgeable, helpful, funny, talented and just an all around good soul. He really kept us safe on the steep and winding single track roads!! I would recommend this company to anyone interested in exploring the Highlands!! A++

I joined this tour solo and had a great time! First, I was upgraded to the co-pilot seat to accommodate others in the group, which I recommend to anyone, esp if you're solo. My guide was Ryan and he was awesome! Very engaging, fun, and funny and did a great job accommodating everyone in our group of all ages. He was both the driver and the guide and the very first few minutes he emphasized that our safety is very important which really does bring a sense of reassurance because this is something we just assume and take for granted. We visited different places as listed, some for longer than others, some for quick pictures and others for a quick bathroom break, never feeling rushed. Tour ran smoothly although there were some in our group who didn't meet as scheduled on day 2 (our longest day) as requested which pushed our schedule back a bit. It wasn't a big deal but for the sake of our guide who does all the driving and all the talking while most of us can rest and sleep, those extra 30 min or so make a big difference in him ending is day. I opted for Hairy Coo to book my bnb for me. Our group was placed at the Ardross Glencairn which, like other bnb's, was about a 10-15 (quiet and safe) walk to all the pubs and restaurants are. Majority of our group booked their own accommodation. The tour was great and Ryan set us up with stories and history before arriving at the different locations. He was kind and friendly and mingled with the members of the group as necessary, never overbearing. If you're worried about what to wear, you can just wear anything that you're comfortable in. There isn't any trekking or hiking, just a bit of walking to get some good views. One man on our trip was in a three-piece suit all days and he was completely comfortable. There were some extras that were not included in the tour price which was the Doune castle where Monty Python was filmed, and the whiskey distillery. Do them both! Children are welcome on the distillery tour. I could have done without the battlefield museum on day 3, the fields and cafe were enough for me.
I'm so glad I opted for this over the 1 day tour. It was a great experience and I got to see the beauty of Scotland on a bright orange hairy coo bus!
H. A.
Highly recommend this tour! The day tour included beautiful stops in Trossachs National Park, Stirling Castle, the 'Kelpies', Deanston distillery, and more. Our guide, Donald, shared great information and memorable stories throughout the tour, and his personality made the day a truly lovely experience. The price was very reasonable, and although we made a number of stops, it didn't feel rushed. It was particularly nice to have been given 90 minutes to explore Stirling Castle. I was surprised to have that much time on a tour making multiple stops, and it provided the opportunity to enjoy the location without feeling hurried. And last, but certainly not least, we stopped to feed a few hairy coos - a trip highlight for an animal lover! Fantastic day all around.
A. D.
We tried the free tours with the hairy coo on January. We enjoyed the tour and scenery. The bus was good size and cleaned.
Great guide (Steven) and driver.
Starting from Forth rail bridge older than golden gate.
You must try the hairy coo!! So fun.
C. E.
We went on the Stirling Castle tour with Stephen and it was amazing! I really cant say enough about how great it was. We got on the van in the middle of Old Town Edinburgh then immediately set off for the Kelpies. After that was Stirling Castle, Deanston Distillery, Doune Castle and a stop for lunch. We then set off for the Highlands. Where we Stephen provided us with carrots to feed some hairy cows. We then went on a short hike at Loch Lomond. This tour gave us a great taste of Scotland and I've already recommended it to other friends. Stephen was also fantastic, very knowledgeable about Scottish history and went out of his way to find us cow to feed since he knew we wanted to. Go on this tour!

We had an awesome time on the 3 day Isle of Skye and Highland tour. Our driver Sean was very informative and we learned a lot during the tour. His sense of humour and general good nature really enhanced the three days and we loved being off the beaten track. He always answered all questions and stopped regularly to allow for appropriate breaks. His music playlists were perfect - and we had fun singing along. We highly recommend the Hairy Coo tours! Paul and Doris

I recently competed the '5 day Isle of Skye, Oban, St Andrews and Northwest highlands' and had an absolute blast! I've done a couple of group tours and this one has definitely been the best!
Scotland was incredibly beautiful (photos do not do it justice) and the tour bus frequently stopped at locations that I would not have thought of visiting myself - a lot of these locations actually ended up being some of my favourite. These stop off locations also helped to break up drive times and as a result it never really felt like we were on the bus for long. I also opted to have Hairy Coo book my accommodation with no issues - I loved Alltavona house in Oban and it has been my favourite place to stay in my 4 weeks in the UK.
The group was a good mix of ages (20s - 50s+) and nationalities (USA, UK, Australia, Brazil, Mexico etc). Everyone was incredibly friendly - I could not have asked for a better group of people. On top of this, Marty our tour guide was an absolute legend! He kept us entertained with a fantastic Scottish playlist, hilarious stories, terrible jokes, and always informed us of the historical events/significance of the sites we visited. Thank you so much Marty!
I cannot recommend this tour enough - I loved it! I will definitely try to make it back to Scotland in the future - and maybe do the tour all over again :)

Guide Steve was a fantastic guide on a beautiful one-day trip in the landscape of Skotland which I find amasing. Thank you for all the good stories and you knowledge of so much. Told with great humor and affection!
M. K.
Amazing tour, our amazin guide who was btw Irish, had great sense of humor and taste of music. I recomend this one day tour to everyone who wants to visit Highlands in one day
S. E. E.
Couldn't recommend highly enough.
Our guide/driver Brian is a credit to this company. Looking forward to our next trip!
We were treated like royalty on this trip and Brian explained each location with great knowledge. He also knew when we were tired and just wanted some music.
One day in the Highlands is not enough but if you only have one day..This is the trip you NEED to do
M. S.
My friend and I really enjoyed our 1-day trip to loch ness, glencoe, and scottish highlands. John, our guide, was generous in sharing stories, very funny, and gave helpful tips on what to do at each stop. 10/10, it was a day well spent.
J. R.
Michael was our guide and he did such a great job. We learned a lot about the history of Scotland and also heard some folk stories. He went above and beyond to help us. We got chased around Skye by a storm but were still able to capture so much! Loved the 3 day tour.
T.
What an amazing day we had with a day tour to Stirling castle and Loch Lomond . Everything from start to fish was special and special thanks to our guide Marty . I will return next year for the 5 days tour and I will definitely recommend this company to all my mates who wants to visit Edinburgh
⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Donald was our tour guide/ driver for the free tour, and he was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and a great driver. We really enjoyed the entire day, especially the visit to see the Highland cows! Lots of breaks and good recommendations as well as a new and comfortable bus. I will definitely recommend to others!
R. L.
I had the best time on my day tour to the Kelpies, the Sterling Castle and Whiskey tasting. Brizo, our tour guide made sure we all enjoyed the tour and talked to everyone on the tour. He had a lot of knowledge about Scotland’s history and told us a lot of jokes, so the atmosphere in the bus was relaxed and joyful. We even ended up the tour with a song that we all sang! I will definitely recommend the company and specially the guide to any of my friends, going to Edinburgh !
A. R.
What can I say besides Big Michael was the best tour guide I have ever had! He took history, pop culture, and a long day tour and spun it into an amazing experience. In 12 hours we traveled the country side, learned Scottish history, sipped fine whiskey, enjoyed a cruise on Loch Ness, and discovered the quaintness of small towns in the Highlands. I totally recommend booking The Hairy Coo and can’t wait to do another one of their tours!
A. K.
Tour was amazing! Our guide Brian was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the 500 miles sing a long! Great way to see some of the beautiful Scottish countryside and hear some historical tales.
B. M.
Loved stopping to see the hairy coo. Went on the Hairy Coo bus tour with Brian Smith and he is a great man! Loved hearing the story of William Wallace. It was much better than the 3 hour Hollywood version. Brian also bought us some veggies to feed Haymish, the black cow. Brian even fed him out of his own mouth. What a treat!
s. w.
Had a great tour of the highlands yesterday. It was a lot of driving but our tour guide Anthony kept us entertained and laughing the entire time. Great job!!
K. M.
Great planning. Amazing experience and great execution. Steve and Anthony our tour guides were so full of little tidbits and information that the enjoyment was on point. Thank you, Hairy Coo..!!
E. D.
We booked this trip months before taking it in June and I was a little skeptical. 3 days on a bus can be great or awful. I was traveling with my daughter (16) who gets bored easily.
I have to tell you that this tour ruined the entire rest of our vacation in Italy as nothing compared after!
We did a 3 day tour (Isle of Skye) with Stephen. He was simply the best tour guide we have ever encountered. I travel a lot for work, have traveled internationally many times and taken hundreds of tours. Stephen - hands down - provided the best three days of our vacation!
I think the thing that made this trip different from others was:
1. Comfortable bus w/ charging ports (key for long drives)
2. Many stops at good places - these were not just "Here is a tree" stops, there was always something great to see and learn about
3. Great stories from Stephen about the legends and lore of the culture
4. Safety - I always worry when traveling in no -cell zone areas and I felt completely at ease on this tour and knew we were well taken care of.
I would HIGHLY recommend this tour. I cannot remember all of the stops but we enjoyed GlenCoe, GlenFinnan, LochNess and getting to see the Hairy Coo's. Overall an amazing three days. I cannot thank this company enough!
M. T.
For a while we wanted to go and discover the Highlands of Scotland. Doing a tour was the most confortable and easy way of doing so. While schearching for companies, we found The Hairy Coo and thought the name was awesome. Not only was the name awesome, but also the 3-day tour itself was amazing! Our driver, Michael, was very funny and helpful. It was also a good way to learn more about Scotish traditions, history and general trivia. The only downfall was the weather (even though we were expecting worse), there were somethings that we didn't do/see given the weather. However you get what you get when you decide to tour the Highlands in January.
M. D.
Wonderful 3 day Highlands tour
We booked the tour way in advance as we did not want to rent a car and honestly it was the best choice!
We were afraid that by renting a car we didn't have the time to see all that we planned to see and we were right to take the tour instead.
I am amazed of how much it was “packed” in 3 days.
This tour has it all: history, nature, whisky and good food.
You get plenty of time at each stop and you have enough info for all the sights. You get the best recommendations from the locals [as all the tours are conducted by Scottish] and they know all there is to know about their country.
No tourist traps and authentic quality time.
It was an excellent 3 day tour and the best way to see the real Scotland: Isle of Skye, Inverness, Highlands & Glenfinnan Viaduct
During our 3 day tour we slept in Inverness, a rather small and quiet town with good food and friendly people.
We had a brand new bus “Bella” and our guide was John and our driver Martin I.
I must say this is an awesome tour! Funny guides & interesting info, beautiful scenery and good music.
We had genuinely a nice time!
Thank you Hairy Coo for a wonderful experience!
Mada & Mihi [The Dragans]

We booked the Loch Ness with a Whiskey distillery tour. Our driver was Michael and he was absolutely wonderful. Very funny, witty and very good looking. He looked like Tormond from Game of Thrones. His knowledge was vast and he made sure to share everything he knew. Knows how to take a good photo and even plays games with us while we were on the road. Would highly recommend this tour guide. 🤙🏽 Cheers.
M. P.
We had a day tour with Stephen and had a wonderful time! He was a great guide, very intentional Scottish stories and history were curated along with music to match! Stephen was also a terrific driver which is important on a snowy pass, such as the one we met on our trip. He thoroughly explains what the expect for the day as you set off and we saw so very much of Scotland on this tour! We loved it. Stephen even made sure we stopped for some hairy coo’s, which I asked if we could if at all possible so that was greatly appreciated. When we return to Scotland (which is inevitable as we fell in love) we’ll look to book another of the Hairy Coo tours and hope to get Stephen again.
A. K.
I booked the one day Scottish highlands, Loch Ness tour on 27th December and the weather was absolutely wonderful for the day long trip. We completely enjoyed the trip and it was made special by the tour guide/ driver Brian who was just brilliant and knew his stuff and history. He kept everyone on board thoroughly entertained with his chatter and stories. He showed us the best places and helped the passengers when public toilets were not accessible. His attitude was very professional and he was also very enthusiastic and entertaining. Would recommend everyone to try this one day trip as it’s a very good value for money and having Brian as your tour guide will be a cherry on the cake.

Did this tour: 3-Day Isle of Skye, Inverness & Highlands Tour
Tour Guide: Brian Smith
This was an excellent tour with a superb guide. Brian was very fun, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone was having a great time. He honestly made the whole experience!
This was a perfect first taste of Scotland. If I were to go back I’d like to see more of the Castles and the Isle of Skye as this is a very condensed busy schedule and you don’t spend very much time at each location.
W. Y.
Awesome tour guide and such a good sense of humour that does get lost some people. Nevertheless, magnificent job driving the (albeit small) bus and chatting away at the same time, even interacting with the passengers, yet always made us feel safe and secure. Especially compared to other tourguides I've witnessed after, Brian is the most animated (should've booked with The Hairy Coo exclusively). Don't think you can chill out between stops, any longer distance will be covered by an interesting story, bus-a-oke and/or a couple of laughs. Highly recommended.
j. m.
Had a fantastic trip to Inverness and Skye with the top tour guide Marty he was a funny, informative and helpful guide.
if you can only do one thing when you are in Scotland DO THIS!!!
G. K.
Amazing tour, Scott was a grear guide and Stevie the best co-pilot! 🦕🌊✨ Will definitely recommend this to friends.
J. S.
My friend and I took a one day tour to visit Stirling Castle and assorted nearby lochs. Our tour guide was a fun, knowledgeable guy and all the attractions were definitely gorgeous and worth a visit. Would recommend to anyone who is unfamiliar with Scotland and visiting for the first time. Learned a lot about Scottish history and got to feed an actual hairy coo

The reason this review is coming months after my tour with Stephen is because I spent months finding the right words to best describe how I feel in truth, detail, and depth of conviction. The tour took place in January and was beyond frigid, however all the warmth our group could’ve needed came from our guide Stephen. He is a beacon of knowledge, altruism, and mirth. Not only is he all of those things, but he transcends them and eclipses our hearts and of course our journey as we trek around Scotland. Every stop was meaningful and a moment of exploration. Stephen is so well versed in the rich history and shared stories of differing levels of comedy, drama, and tragedy. He was incredibly perceptive to our needs and knew when to let us rest or lead us through trials of river dwellers, murderers, and the like. Stephen is not only a champion in sarcasm and comedy, but also selfless and hospitable. He showed us the legendary monuments and the ones we weren’t aware of but then became our favorites. The local spots he took us to for meals proved his behavior isn’t skin deep. Every place we went he was greeted with affection and elation. One of the most memorable moments was when he shared his fried black pudding with us. I believe he would give someone the shirt of his back if they asked. Continuing, Stephen is a free spirit, an inspiration, and a downright lovely person. We trusted him up steep climbs and while dunking our facing in freezing water (he would not call them steep haha). I never doubted his abilities. I’ll never forget my time with him. Thank you, Stephen. I hope you and your family are well and I wish you the best of luck!! (I would walk 500 miles to see him again. I probably wouldn’t, but it’s a nice sentiment lol) He'll most likely dislike how sweet this is, but it's supposed to be silly so get over it!

We had a great time exploring the Scottish Highlands with Rose, our driver. She was entertaining, so very knowledgeable, just a wonderful tour guide. I highly recommend this tour to see all that the Highlands have to offer!
M. D.
Had amazing time. Weather was lovely. Driver was friendly had good laugh. Thank you Bryan. Bus was very comfortable. Value for money.

This excursion with The Hairy Coo was exceptional value for the money! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a long day's coach ride, but our tour guide - John (King of the North) - was so entertaining, knowledgable and funny, that the time just flew by. The long ride to Loch Ness was broken up with stops along the way. The Distillery was lovely; and, although I didn't take advantage of the Whisky tour, my breakfast was wonderful, and the service, in both the restaurant and gift shop, was great. The highlands were breathtaking, the Village of Fort Augustus was so cute and quaint, as was Pitlochry. I'm so glad I listened to John's advice - the coffee in Fort Augustus was amazing - and the authentic Scottish Whisky ice-cream in Pitlochry was delicious. I would highly, highly recommend this trip with John, as I just couldn't imagine the experience being as perfect without him, his fine Scottish brogue and the Kilt!

Unforgettable experience!
The trip is quite long on bus, but Ryan has been a perfect entrateiner, driver and histoty teller: he delighted us whit a priceless tour back in time while we where seeing those very places at the same time, whit a lot of fun facts and some precious hint about Gaelic language. We visit amazing places, and I can't thank him enough for suggesting us to take the boat trip on the Loch Ness that has been fantastic.
Thanks Ryan, tannks to The Hairy Coo staff

Best tour I have ever been to, Initially I had a lot of expectations but I swear the tour guide Callum has beaten all of them. Went for the 3 day tour to isle of Skye and Callum really kept everyone on the bus entertained all the time. When I used to take a short nap durning the journey I always used to feel I missed something. He always had the right type of Music to keep the group going as well. Even the driver "john" was very nice and funny, he too used to keep us entertained. Both were very informative and the way Callum explained stories it just made the trip worthwhile. Words really can't explain how fantastic the tour was, to really understand it you will have to experience it for yourself. Just one minus point I had asked the tour company to book my accommodation but they booked it in not such a nice place and away from other group members just that was negative. But honestly if it wasn't for "Callum" and " John " the trip wouldn't have been so good. Thank you guys for such an amazing time.
M. W.
Had a wonderful day excursion....beautiful scenery, well organised and of course Jim the driver/guide gave us a great lesson of Scottish history to top it all. Only downful was we sat next to 2 chatter boxes that can't be quiet for a minute which made it hard to hear Jim. Highly recommended tour guides.
F. V.
Had a fantastic time with Scott, everything was perfectly planned and on time. Very reliable and extremely informative tour of the Highlands. The jokes, stories and legends were fantastic 😂 Would certainly take again and highly recommend to others! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!
A. K.
I did the 3 day tour for Glenfinnan Viaduct, Inverness, and Isle of Skye with Rose. She is a national story teller and an excellent tour guide! She was highly informative, helpful, and very passionate about Scottish culture and heritage! Would highly recommend even for solo travelers!
L. G.
Had a great time on the 5 day tour with Stephen! It’s a good balance of sightseeing, information, history, myths, chill time and fun. It didn’t feel rushed. Thanks Stephen for keeping us entertained :)
M. D.
Had a tour with Hairy Coo today , the driver/guide Steven was awesome. The itinerary was great and Steven did a great job getting us to our stops while entertaining us the whole time.

Incredible!
Ryan such a funny guide. Full of energy. Excellent driver. He knows a lot and makes the journey interesting and entertaining. We even learnt songs. Beautiful and sometimes breathtaking landscapes. It was definitely far more than I expected😀😀
F. L.
Great tour! Beautiful sights and picture perfect stops. Brian was fun, energetic and well Scottish which added to the great experience had upon the hairy coo tour bus! Would recommend taking this tour to anyone in the area😊
F. M. L.
Amazing trip! Stephen was an absolutely amazing driver and guide. You have to go on a tour if you want to visit Scotland 🌿👏
N. C.
Free one day trip was great. Many short stops along the way, got some nice history lessons - some gruesome - from our guide Alisdair. Weather was great for half the trip so felt quite lucky. Got to see some hairy coos!
E. S.
Was excited to take the day trip to Loch Ness and yeah, nah didn't live up to the hype. The great experience was def Anthony our guide & driver, thank you from NZ
C. N.
From the moment we arrived to the end of the trip it was so much fun. Highly recommend to anyone looking for major value and an entertaining day trip.
S. B.
We just had a wonderful family tour with Ryan as our guide. He was super educational and entertaining! Huge shout out to him for keeping us going on a loooong (12+ hour) day.
B. L.
The Hairy Coo tour my mom and I went on with Colin was so much fun! He did an excellent job entertaining us while still educating us at the same time. We were looking for a tour that incorporated as much as possible and the 3 day tour really allowed us to see many amazing and popular sites quickly. (But for those wanting more time at locations maybe pick a longer tour) I also felt like we got a really nice combination of popular attractions but also local insider places off the beaten track. We were never bored and had an absolute blast! It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Scotland. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Went on the free tour with enthusiastic tour guide John, we had a really amazing time appreciate Scottish Highland and history. Thank you The Hairy Coo!
P. K.
Did the 3 day tour to Skye/Dalwhinnie with Marty. Super varied itinerary and very interesting, great way to see a good slice of the highlands. Marty is a fantastic storyteller, funny and knowledgeable. Provided pictures of what we should have seen on misty Skye -above and beyond. Loved it! Thank you Marty 😁
K. T.
I had a 3-day tour to the Isle of Skye and Highlands in August 2021. It was amazing experience, I loved Isle of Skye and Scotland in general. Our guide Stephen was wonderful, he told us so many stories, he was so friendly, fun and interesting. I have informally advised travelling with Hairy Coo to a minimum three people and will be always advising travelling with them.
a.
Lovely tour! You will appreciate the outskirts of Scotland. Our tour guide Rose was superb! She is very knowledgable so you will appreciate the tour much more because of her stories.
E. S.
I took the tour with my boyfriend and we both love it. All the places we visited are amazing and our guide John was veeery cool and awesome, very funny, friendly and his talks were very educational haha. I highly recommend it, you will want to come back like us :)
I love Scotland ♡
A. B.
Truly a fantastic experience with The Hairy Coo on Sir John's (King of the North) shoulders! We did Loch Ness, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands and Ben Nevis Tour. Oh my! Tapadh leat 🙏🏻 You must do it. We will come back for Skye tour very soon.
J. R.
Really enjoyed our glen coe, loch ness and ben nevis tour with Marty on 28th April 2022 despite coach issues with Marty dealt with professionally and efficiently. Marty was very knowledgeable and kept our coach entertained with his stories and music selection. Definitely a must do when visiting Scotland.

If you are staying for only 1 day in Edinburgh. This is what you should do. No regrets. I wouldn't change this experience for anything else.
J. C.
I had the best experience ever with Hairy Coo when I took the 3 day trip with them in October 2019! The sights were wonderfully picked, the ride clean and safe, the stories told were fabulous, the accommodation recommendation really great and the tour guide John was the most knowledgeable, funny and helpful tour guide of all time. He made such an effort to have us all enjoy ourselves that went way beyond what can be expected of a tour guide. Countless stories, jokes and helpful advice. Never too much though. I was particularly thankful as I had fallen ill on the trip and he was so helpful and made extra stops for me where needed without inconveniencing others too much. Honestly, as a single traveler the experience couldn't have been any better! I highly recommend them and have done so to all my friends. Thanks John & Hairy Coo :)
J. C.
Great tour if you are unable to get a car and tour the highlands yourself (or in our case not excited to drive on the other side of the road). Our tour guide, Bryan was great!
C.
We had quite a lot of fun on our Hairy Coo tour. Our tour guide, Andrew, was animated and you could tell he really knew and cared a lot about the history of Scotland. We also really appreciated his careful driving. We had ample time at each stop, and the stops were in wonderful places...several of which I am sure we would have never known about had we not taken the tour. I also really liked the "pay what you think it's worth" aspect of this tour. I would definitely recommend the Hairy Coo tour to anyone visiting Edinburgh and wanting to spend a day in the highlands.
K. L.
Easily the best tour I have been on! I did the 5-Day tour with John as the tour guide and everything was amazing. John was super informative, fun and helpful and all the places we went to were stunning. Everything I could have wanted from a trip to Scotland! Such great value for money too. I would definitely book with Hairy Coo again!
D. F.
Excellent tour. I had a great tour guide, called Colin, which a very charming and funny fellow, very knowledgeable of all things Scotland. He gave us great explanations of what we saw and Scotland history and both its geological and cultural formation. The sights were fabulous, the music great, the stops very interesting as well. I loved traveling through Scotland with Hairy Coo and its fabulous guide Colin! We all even played games and sung and dance together in the bus! Great, fun, interesting tour, worth the high cost of all the stops and the basic tour itself but I would definitely recommend it to every Scotland traveller.
T. M.
I booked the 3 day a tour. As a solo traveler who doesn't drive I was searching for a tour that would take me into the Highlands for a few days.
After a lot of research and reading the many, many positive reviews for Hairy Coo I went with the 3 day tour, and I have no regrets. It was truly the highlight of my trip.
Brian S. was our tour guide and he had us all singing and laughing even when we were tired or wet. He tried to make sure that everyone was having fun by chatting with and getting to know everyone individually. He managed to chase away the rain for Isle of Skye and shared interesting stories about the history of Scotland. It's clear that he loves his job and is passionate about it's past and sharing why Scotland is so amazing.
The tour was set at a good pace with lots of opportunities to get off the bus, see places of interest, try yummy snacks, take bathroom breaks, snap pics of Hairy coos and enjoy the breathtaking views that are the Highlands. Not to mention the perfect accompanying soundtrack.
By the end of the trip I had made new friends, new memories and left my heart in the Highlands.
I really can't say anything bad about this tour other than that it had to end. Maybe book the 5 day one instead! If I have another opportunity to book with Hairy Coo I would do it in a heartbeat.
M. S.
Really great experience. Steven was really good with all the stories he tells. Advice, take a seat on the left side. Overall really good experience. Worth £2 extra compared to some other cheaper options

We had taken the Lockness tour. It was pretty awesome. Our tour guide was Collin. He was funny, had a great sense of humour. All the covid precautions were taken while on tour. Not only he provided information about the sights, he also enlighted us about the Scotish culture, history and random stories from past from nature to sports, every particular thing. We extremely enjoyed this experience. Highly recommended!!
D. L.
The guide was very skilled and full of Scottish humour when he told us everything about Scotch history during all the time... But the bus is very unconfortable because the trip is very long and if the coach is full it can be a problem for your backside!!!!
P. G.
Our bus driver guide (John)was a great personality. I really enjoyed this trip and in the end he taught all of us a Scottish song tune which is still running in my mind.
D. B.
It was an incredible experience, and I would strongly suggest it to anybody interested in learning more about Scotland from a knowledgeable resident. Our tour guide, John, also known as the King in the North, entertained us throughout the trip by telling us many fascinating stories.
J. C.
Really enjoyed the 3 day tour, Brian our guide was incredible! He has such a great attitude and is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable...and also tells great stories! The tour packs a LOT in it for the 3 days so you will be busy but its worth it. On the second day we had really bad weather on Isle of Sky however Brian really tried to make it worth it for us but in the end we had to turn back due to safety concerns so I will have to come back another time to see it. The Hairy Coo is definitely one of the best tour companies I have experienced and I have been on a lot of tours! The highlight for me was definitely seeing an feeding the Hairy Coo's but the scenery is also incredible - a must do!
K. K.
I enjoyed my trip and Ryan was great! He was funny and very knowledgeable about Scottish history. Even though it rained for part of the trip, we still saw so much and had a great time!
C. B.
Highly recommended. Will definitely return to Scotland and book another tour with them in the future!
I took their Highlands tour with guide Rose, and it's definitely one of the best among all the tours I've taken across the globe. They did well on bus/vehicle cleanliness & comfort, pace & content of itinerary, time & group management, value for money, and last but definitely not the least is the quality of service from the tour guide (informative, entertaining, and professional).

It was my 2nd time taking a tour with The Hairy Coo and it gets better each time. Took the 5 day highlands tour with my wife and it was spectacular. From the initial correspondence till the final drop off, every thing was thought off, planned and perfectly executed. Our tour guide, Michael, was exceptional. His in depth knowledge of the places we visited was only second to his passion for the job. It was never boring even for a second- he kept all of us engaged. There was no cheap selling or forced recommendation like other tour companies- these guys are the real deal. I will definitely surely try them again once I am back I Scotland. 5 star rating for spectacular tour. Highly Highly recommended.

A friend recommended visiting Isle of Skye while visiting Edinburgh, and I came across "Hairy Coo Tours" in my google search. I had no idea what an unbelievable experience I would end up having. This was by the far the highlight of my trip to Scotland, and Stephen made this entire experience so memorable. He was incredibly thoughtful, and shared hours of folklore, history, and learning experiences while driving through the stunning and diverse landscapes of Scotland. I felt taken care of, highly respected, and as if I was in the presence of friends and family. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough, and would encourage asking for Stephen to get a full immersion into Scottish history and culture. THANK YOU!
T. L.
My husband and I bought this tour on Expedia after reading some reviews and we cannot say enough good things about them! Before the tour they were very good about quickly responding to any questions I had through email. We had Colin as a tour guide and he was entertaining, funny, informative and energetic and just made the tour for us! You can tell he really loves what he does! We have been on tours in San Antonio, New York, London, Nicaragua, Honduras, etc. and this is the best experience with a tour we have ever had!
Tour with the Hairy Coo! You will be so glad you did!
T. M.
We took a day tour of the Highlands, Loch Ness and a whisky distillery with The Hairy Coo and it was fabulous. Our guide and driver, John, was a true blue Scotsman decked out in his kilt. He was full of information, anecdotes and history. His Bus-karaoke was great fun, and his recommendations on spot. The scenery was breathtaking. This one day tour was enough to convince us into coming back to Scotland for a longer holiday. Will surely be coming back to The Hairy Coo for an extended trip.
E. P.
Absolutely loved it the weather was glorious and the tour was fabulous . Brian the driver was great very knowledgeable and funny with it so kept us entertained the whole day a credit to the company I would highly recommend this tour if visiting Edinburgh.
a. r.
Absolutely amazing experience, highlight of our trip to Edinburgh back in August just after the first lockdown - thank you Brian! Hadn't intended on taking a tour until I stumbled upon the Hairy Coos website and the reviews seemed so good we thought we had to give it a try. Did the 1 day Highlands tour, possibly my favourite day of the year last year, stunning scenery and our tour guide Brian was amazing, completely immersing us in Scottish history, learned so much in the space of just a few hours and had a great laugh, had to Shazam a few absolute tunes from Brian who played alot of music as we toured. If visiting Edinburgh this is an absolute must.
Y. K.
This tour is perfect if you want to explore some of the main sights of Scotland in one day and also be entertained during the trip. Our guide, the King in The North (he is also known as John) and a genuine Scotsman, did an amazing Job giving interesting information about the places we where passing through and telling the background stories and historical events. His introduction and entertainment program alone was worth the money! Thanks John for an awesome day!
E. E.
I was only able to participate in 1 day of the three day tour with The Hairy Coo but I loved every minute and can't wait to go back and finish it! (or do the whole thing again, including the distillery!) Everything seemed perfect (except for the airlines getting me to Edinburgh!) from the bus to the driver to the fellow passengers, to the stunning scenery of the Scotland highlands, the many stops we were able to squeeze into one day, yet never felt rushed. I enjoyed myself immensely and can highly recommend The Hairy Coo to all ages for an amazing and educational and beautiful tour of Scotland!
R. M.
Me and my girlfriend went on the Hairy Coo tour while in Edinburgh and we had a great time. Our tour guide and driver Brizo was fantastic, he was informative, friendly, energetic and funny, ensuring we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We learnt a lot about the history of Scotland as we travelled through the country and every stop on the tour had great things to see and take pictures of. We had a fantastic day and would highly recommend Hairy Coo to anyone in Edinburgh!
A. I.
I went on a Hairy Coo tour a few years ago at the recommendation of a friend and I was very pleased with the service and atmosphere of the whole tour. Donald, our guide, was absolutely delightful, and made the whole experience much better than any tour I've been on. It was an incredible incursion into the Highlands and a great way to experience the raw wild side of Scotland. I absolutely loved all the sights the tour comprised of and the background information on all the places we visited. The tour operated on a donation basis and it was so refreshing to see a business entirely reliant on trust. Definitely worth a generous contribution, as it's usually packed on the day (got to turn up early) and the tour operators really put their heart into it. Excellent experience, definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an out-of-the-ordinary one-day tour of the Highlands.
W. E.
John, my tour guide has a wonderful sense of humour and he tells stories with such enthusiasm. My favourite stop was at Glencoe.

3 Day Highlands and Isle of Skye Tour.
We went on this tour in January, and had the most amazing time. I've travelled extensively, usually not on tours, and because of this experience Scotland is now my favourite country I've travelled to. Our tour guide Graham was absolutely fantastic - he was so upbeat and energetic, very knowledgeable about the area and happy to answers any questions we had. Our tour was very small, as it was the low season and mid week, so we had a very small tour bus which made the experience even better and more intimate. Graham listened to what everyone was interested in seeing on their scottish adventure and pointed out anything they may have been interested in. Our tour only had Aussies so he made lots of stops for us to see the hairy cows, deer and snow covered highlands. He also had great advice for where to eat on every lunch break we had.
We saw some other tours while on ours and it made me realise we definitely made the right decision choosing The Hairy Coo. I would definitely recommend this tour company. I may be back for another tour to explore in the summer!
A. H.
This was a fantastic, well planned tour that squeezed in so much despite having limited time. From Monty Python castles to towering mountain sides and smokey whiskey, from Outlander scenes to tales of murder and monsters, there was so much to do and see on this trip.
The tour guide was well-versed in Scottish history as well as being an excellent storyteller with a truly Scottish sense of humor. He worked hard to make sure everyone on the tour had a great experience, despite the tour-goers' disparate interests and backgrounds.
If you have the opportunity to take this tour, seize it! You will not regret it.
S. M.
The 3-day Isle of Skye, Inverness, and Highlands tour was an excellent tour experience! We learned so much, and saw so many beautiful sights. My family and I traveled in Scotland for almost two weeks, and this tour was definitely a highlight of the trip! Our tour guide, Stephen, was fun, funny, and extremely knowledgable. He kept the bus entertained with his stories and music, and made sure everyone was always comfortable and happy. I can't say enough about how wonderful this tour was- I highly recommend the Hairy Coo tours to anyone wanting to get a full view of so many incredible, beautiful places in gorgeous Scotland.
곽.
My family visited highland by The Hairy Coo.
It was exellent experience with The Hairy Coo.
Michael(driver) was excellent guide with humor and knowledge for tour. The itinerary was very full but the progress was relaxed thanks to his skillfulness.
The company's logo, one of Scotland's iconic animals, is very cute and impressive. So I had to buy a hairy coo doll.
Thanks to The hairy coo and Michael, I really enjoyed my trip. If I visit Highland again and of course use the same company.
J. J.
This was my first trip to Scotland and I very much enjoyed our tour. Our guide, Marty, was entertaining (especially his groaner jokes), polite and easy for us non scots to follow. You could tell he took the history of Scotland very seriously. He gave a very moving depiction of the Culloden Battlefield. His description and being at the very spot made many things much clearer when we returned to Edinburgh and toured Edinburgh Castle. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
A. G.
The 3 day tour to Inverness and the Highland was amazing. Even though is was cloudy on and off the views where stunning. As for John aka “ King of the North” our tour guide he was pleasant, funny, entertaining and very knowledgeable. He made sure everyone in the bus was having a good time and that we all got to see everything!! I can not say enough good things about the company and the tour ... LOVED IT!!!!
R. S.
BOOK A TOUR WITH THESE GUYS!!!!
We did a three week European vacation, heavy on tours, all over (five countries and about 15 different tour companies), this tour was, by FAR, the best one. I want to go back to a goal and again if I get the chance and I would 10000% do one of their multi day tours. Graham and Alistar were just great, and they are an indicator of the tour quality I’m sure they are the norm. One of the biggest standout was they played music from Scottish artists in between talking, which no other tour did and we loved it! Plus their buses were quality.
I hope I get the chance to go back, but do yourself a favor and use these guys!
N. G.
This tour was absolutely astounding. Collin, our guide made the day trip constantly engaging and entertaining. I learned so much from him and enjoyed being on the bus for the full 12 hours to and from the highlands. Cannot recommend enough, I will surely look into their longer trips next time I am in Scotland.
C. R.
Collin was fantastic. Great driver, great knowledge of Scotland, amazing humor.
The only two things i wished about the trip different were more bathroom breaks, also a little less talking. 12:30hrs of talking is a lot, it’s a lot on the driver, and also on the passengers. Find the happy medium of talking and not talking. Would i do the the tour again? Yes.
A. O.
My SO and I had the pleasure of taking a 3 day tour with The Hairy Coo company and it was absolutely the highlight of our 2 week vacation. Ryan was an absolute delight and told us many interesting stories of the places we visited or drove past.
I've been on other tours with different companies in Scotland and this has actually been my favorite experience.
If you're torn between tours, definitely give this one a try. We saw more than we expected and had a variety of activities to do throughout our 3 days with Ryan.
B. D.
The tour was overall very entertaining and informative. John was a very funny and enthusiastic guide. The stories he told while on the bus kept us engaged whilst showcasing Scottish history and learning more about the culture. I feel that John took us to some interesting sites that otherwise we would have never heard of. We sincerely feel that other guides wouldn't take us on some of the more 'hidden' places. He also gave us tips about what to eat in some stops and what to do.
All in all, we would definitely recommend this tour
A. R.
Brilliant. John our guide was very entertaining and informative. He pointed out everything to us and could answer questions outside the remit. Loved the music he played on the bus from all the Scots bands. Well done John and thank you for watching out for us all.
S. R.
A friend and I took this tour starting from Edinburgh. First off, the HIghlands, in particular, the Isle of Skye, are magical. Do not hesistate in booking this tour.
Our tour guide/bus driver/story teller/DJ/entertainter Stephen was absolutely brilliant.
I travel very frequently and do many walking/bike etc tours. Never have I ever seen a guide so passionate about what he does. He made what could be a great tour of the enchanting landscape of Scotland into a truly unforgettable experience.
I was particularly impressed because on our very first day we had a road block due to an accident and he tirelessly made the best out of unpredictable bad situation.
Very excited to make another trip to Scotland soon!
B. C.
It was nice visiting the Highlands in one day, however quite disappointed in the guide part - guide was very nice, but the info he provided was barely audible and entertaining, I strongly suggest to the company a recorded audio at this point.
Car is nicely design, you can't miss it, however not that comfortable or well equipped for the price.
Finally, we didn't get a stop where we could get closer to the actual hairy coos ! I remember I did that on another tour in the past with another company.
Without the guide part, the tour is nice but way too overpriced for what it is: a bus drive which halts at a few stops for 55£/pers.
C. E.
Great Highland tour with Scott. Very informative and kind guide. I had booked through Viatour and had added 2 more people to the tour, even though he didn’t have record of the additional 2 adults, he saw my confirmation for 4 and let us on. As 2 of our party had disabilities, he was very helpful in making sure they were comfortable.
The scenery was great despite the rain but it is Scotland! I wish there were better planned food stops for an all day tour. No one in our party was interested in the additional sandwich sack lunch offered. They were put very appealing despite being a low price. We would have liked a lunch buffet maybe in the tour as it was cold and rainy. The time at Loch Ness is rushed, especially if you are taking the nice boat tour.
The Hairy Coos are super cute and an enjoyable quick stop. I didn’t enjoy the stop at Deanston. Whisky is rough and their distillery seems quite dirty. I’ve been to many in the states and this wasn’t the same quality. I think Deanston must have a contract with tour operators and probably isn’t the best for people who enjoy quality Scotch whisky. At least they are not sales pushy.
Bus was comfortable and our guide Scott really made the tour a great experience!
J. K.
Excellent journey ! Took a free Highlands tour with HairyCoo guide Stephen and had a lot of fun ! Stephen has a great sense of humour and endless supply of stories, which makes this full day tour unforgettable! Overall impression is way better than expected: we have made a lot of stops, had enough time for ourselves to enjoy the views and even fed some hairy coos with carrot! The time spent on the bus flew by because of Stephen's stories and perfect set of Scottish music. Would definitely recommend this tour and guide to those who like beautiful sceneries, fresh air, good jokes, dark stories and is tired of classic guidance with bookish descriptions. Looking forward to visit an Isle of Skye with Stephen ! Many thanks to him for an awesome experience in discovery of Scottish history and culture!
H. M.
Fantastic two days on a minibus with Brian Smith, our driver and tour guide who showed us all the places as promised on the schedule and kept us well entertained with music and stories. Highly recommended.
V. H.
Amazing tour! Beautiful sights, really well organized (booked my accommodation through Hairy Coo), great vibe, fun group and, best of all, hilarious yet educational commentary from Graham, our tour guide, who, as sugary icing on the cake, provided a great soundtrack to the tour. Can't wait to go on the five-day tour!
Would definitely recommend this tour to solo travelers (and non-solo travelers). You might meet some great new friends! And for those who just want some alone time, the stops often allow for plenty of freedom so that you can decided what to do (the main attaction or just enjoy the town/views/ etc.)
C. S.
Truly an exceptional day. My boyfriend and I traveled around Great Britain back in March, spending a few days in Edinburgh. We booked the 1-DAY LOCH NESS, GLENCOE, HIGHLANDS & WHISKY TOUR and it was one of the best days that we had on the entire trip. Graham was our guide for the day and we never had a dull moment. He was so personable and seemed genuinely happy to be sharing the Scottish countryside with us. This tour alone made me want to plan a much longer trip to Scotland and I would book all future tours through Hairy Coos.
D. C.
Brilliant Tour bus. Loved the casual banter Brian gave to make us at ease, the humour, the knowledge of local history, the jokes. The Music.... Loved how everything Scottish was promoted. Loved the bonding of the group. And i even loved the country of Scotland that i saw. Was truly a highlight to my trip to Scotland. Totally recomend Hairy Coo tours. Everyone should do at least 1!!! Age was no barrier! we had every age group. Brilliant job Hairy Coo...... i.... oi oi oi
I. H.
Ryan is a local, enthusiastic legend who knows just about everything there is to know about Scotland and its history. He also has a beautiful singing voice!!! Thanks again Ryan. Loved it.
M. B. C.
I cannot say enough good things about the Hairy Coo tour group. The locations, destinations and spots they show you are all magical. We had the best tour guide in Graham, he was very funny, knowledgeable and genuinely interested in making sure each person on the tour was enjoying themselves. Graham was full of anecdotes, historical facts and local lore, which made the sites and sounds :) as well as the information very interesting. There was NEVER a dull moment. Graham’s love of music and well placed “woo-hoos” were infectious. The accommodations that were recommended were lovely. The whole tour was a well oiled machine that I would do over and over again!
M. R.
I went on the Highlands, Loch Ness, and Whiskey Distillery tour and it was great. Our guide Michael was wonderful. It felt like he tried to make a personal connection with individuals in the group, knew a lot of history of course, but he also used music to supplement his story telling and had great recommendations for food and drinks! I would recommend this tour
L. v. S.
Had a great day with Stephen during the 1 day Wisky - Glencoe - Loch Ness tour. I would not have wanted to miss Glencoe, as it was stunning and driving through it with Adele's Skyfall blastig through the speakers was amazing! However, it is a bit of a drive - I underestimated this when I booked the tour - as Loch Ness is not exactly around the corner, but Stephen made sure we had a lot of fun telling awesome (and somewhat gruesome) stories about Scotland's history. So I would recommend this tour if you don't mind sitting in a bus. Otherwise there are loads of options: 2 to 5 day tours or just a shorter (i.e. distance) tour to Loch Lohmond.
N. J.
We had a fanastic trip last Thursdsy. Our driver and guide was Brian. He was professional and a fountain of knowledge. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Edinburgh.Well worth it!!
J.
After many trips to Scotland it was nice to be taken more "off the beaten tourist track" by Hairy Coo. We have actually taken the same tour twice. Scottish weather was very unkind, but it didn't spoil our day - we were in Scotland after all!
Loved meeting Fiona, and loved the stops along the way. Such an entertaining commentary and personalised tour. We loved the Hairy Coo, and feel the full day trip is well worth paying for, which we did!
S. L.
We had an amazing time on this wonderful 1 day Loch Ness, Glencoe, Highlands & Whisky tour. This is a great highlight tour if one is short on time. Stephen, our guide and driver did a phenomenal job explaining the rich colourful history of Scotland, kept things humourous and had a fantastic bus playlist. We have brought home with us great memories of our trip!
L. S.
I love the idea and whole business around The Hairy Coo and The Free Scottish Highlands Tour since my first tour in 2011. This year I booked the same tour again and enjoyed it with a new tour guide again. It's nice to be on a bus full of people from all over the world and to embrace the Scottish nature together. If you only have one day to leave Edinburgh and to see the Highlands, I'm convinced that this tour is one of the best ways to do it.
I. B.
I did 2 Hairy Coo tours a few years ago; one was to the Highlands and another one to St. Andrews. Both tours were magnificent and the tour guides, Nic and Russel taught us so many interesting things about Scotland. They showed me places I, for sure, wouldn't found myself. I also loved the atmosphere inside the bus, it was very family like because there were not too many people on the tour.
The next time i visit Scotland, i will definitely take the Hairy Coo tour again because it is something I've been talking most about from that visit to Scotland.
E. T.
I have taken this tour twice!!! Once about 4 years ago, and when I was lucky enough to come back to Scotland this week I had to take my family on it. Donald is a top notch tour guide, you will learn so much about Scotland history from him. He is also very passionate about his country, so that really makes the tour great! He tells you stories all the drive and wow they are good. Also there is some great music he plays, all by Scottish bands of course. As far as I am concerned, you can literally ask him anything about Scotland and he knows it.
This tour will make you feel like you have seen a ton of Scotland, all in one day. Get ready to see amazing views, the forth road bridge, William Wallace Monument, two castles, quaint towns/villages, lochs, and of course cute hairy coos! When you see the baby hairy coo you may just die of cuteness. We took the tour on a crazy weather day, lots of rain/wind and nice Scottish weather. Even so, we had the best time. Donald will show you where an amazing fish and chips shop is for lunch and there are plenty of other options too in the town you stop. There are tons of stops along the way so don't worry about snacks and hot drinks. Just take this tour, you will not be disappointed and you will have the experience of a lifetime. If I am fortunate enough to come back a third time I will take Donald's Lochness tour!
W. M.
Had an amazing time on the Hairy Coo tour. Stephen was an amazing driver and story teller. I actually retained so much of what he said because he delivered it in such a creative way. Loved the wedding story and actually getting people to put their faces in the cold mountain water.
The views were stunning and a trip worth taking. My sister-in-law who was born and lived in Scotland most of her life said we saw more of Scotland than she has.
C. H.
Highly recommend this tour. I don't normally take bus tours but made an exception for this one and am glad I did. The tour is about 10 hours and gives you EVERYTHING it promises. Our host and guide was knowledgeable, funny and socially conscious. We had enough time at each of the venues to have a good explore. The bus was comfortable. And the itinerary really does offer a chance to see the highlands and get a sense of their geography.
A. F.
This was a great day out! If you want to see the highlands and get an amazing narrative on the history of Scotland you won't do better than The Hairy Coo! Donald conducted the tour the day we went and he did such an outstanding job of sharing his passion for his country and history it was totally infectious - I went out and bought a book on the history of Scotland; it was so interesting. You'll also get a taste of some great Scottish music and of course, you'll learn about and meet the Hairy Coos. It was a great day out!
M.
Fabulous day trip from Edinburg! Steve, our guide went above and beyond - would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.
L. B.
We recently took the Highlands/Isle of Skye/Inverness 3 day tour with The Hairy Coo. Our driver/guide was Ryan and we were thrilled with his knowledge, humour, professionalism, and courtesy with guests. Thank you, Ryan, for sharing highlights and interesting details of your country's culture, history, and geography. The range of activities and sites was excellent and your driving was amazing! We highly recommend this tour and Ryan.
Q. L.
Wonderful experience of Scotland's nature, history and culture. Friendly and knowledgeable guide/driver Ryan was such a great guide to tour with.
The tour goes through some winding roads on the highland, it should be find for the most of people, but there was 1 passenger felt sick in our full bus (you can tell it is very rare). For those whose may have issues, bring motion sickness pill/patch with you so you can enjoy the trip.
L. B.
It was a fantastic tour. The tour we got was more than we expected as the guide was more then a historian is was a a fun and dynamic person. You get to see all the most important parts of Scotland in 3 days. It was a very wholesome trip for a good price.
K. H.
Perfect tour for people who don't like organized tours!
First, I'm not a fan of bus tours so was VERY hesitant to book this tour but I'm so glad I did. As a solo (female) traveler, this was truly the best way to see the countryside...and no trip to Scotland would be complete without seeing the vast landscapes, meandering streams, waterfalls and cliff sides that you see when getting out of Edinburgh! Stephen, our driver and tour guide was great! He provided a good mix of information and stories on the history of the sites we were seeing, along with time to just stare out the window and take it all in. He was funny, engaging and offered great tips on how to make the best use of time on each stop, which was important as some stops were very quick (but long enough in my opinion) and it was great that he offered tips on where to go and what to see first as well as details on the closest bathroom, coffee, lunch stops, etc. Stephen even provided a rather fun music playlist, which thankfully is not played too loud so you can choose to listen or take a quick nap!
A bit more about the tour/bus itself. This is a smaller bus, only about 28 people on our tour. There were people from all over the world - the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Russia, Bolivia, to name a few! There are no restrooms on board, but plenty of bathroom stops were provided. We picked our own seat each day, and that was our seat for the day. He picked us up in a different order each morning so everyone got to have a different viewpoint from their seat, one day sitting in the front and the next in the back or the middle. Stephen was a very safe driver on some rather small country roads, including in the rain! I get VERY motion sick and he was a very steady driver - no fast accelerating or start/stopping that usually gets me to feeling bad (do note I took motion sickness each day to be safe as, despite Stephen's safe driving, the roads are windy)! He did offer for me to sit in the front passenger seat too if needed, but I never had to take him up on the offer as I felt fine! There was also plenty of airflow on the bus - never too hot or too cold!
I booked my hotel accommodations via Hairy Coo and worked out great. The B&B booked was clean, safe, rooms had everything needed (hairdryer, soap/shampoo, etc.), and offered a plentiful breakfast. It is located outside the city center, so quieter at nights, but a short 10-minute walk to the center for restaurants and pubs! I was very pleased and most tour guests chose to have Hairy Coo book the accommodation and I didn't hear anyone complain!
If you are not usually a fan of bus tours, but want to see the Highlands, choose Hairy Coo and hope you get Stephen as your guide (although I hear all are great). I would not hesitate to book this tour again, and possibly check out a longer 5-day tour in the future!

I'm not one for structured bus tours but this was a FANTASTIC option for exploring outside of Edinburgh for a day. If you want to get out and explore more of what Scotland has to offer and you don't have loads of time (which you should do, it's a fantastic country) this is a great whirlwind option. Michael told us plenty of entertaining, amusing and historical stories that made the day fly by.

Went on the Loch Ness, Highlands and Whisky Distillery Day Tour, had Ryan as the guide and he made the trip very enjoyable, had great stories to tell and made the time in the coach fly by! Also stopped off at some scenic views to get lovely photos of the Scottish Highlands, Would recommend!
D. s.
My husband, son and I took this tour last week and couldn't have been happier. Our guide, Ryan, was phenomenal--he is a wealth of information. It is apparent that Ryan is passionate about his country and very proud to share it's history and beauty with visitors. The tour was so much fun and exceeded our expectations. I've already recommended it to friends going to Scotland in June. Definitely worth booking this tour!

We had a great tour at the highlands of Scotland!😍 Thank you very much Steve! See you again😎
H. S.
Had this awesome three day tour of Scotland. The sights were beautiful.
With Scott leading the tour, we had a great time. He was very considerate and kind.
PS. If this review gets to you, I ended up naming my cuddly coo Bruce in the end. Thanks for helping me find him 😁
M. K.
We had an excellent experience. Will definitely come back and make sure that I'll take the 3-day trip. 1 day is not enough and apart from the breathtaking place, the trip in itself is well organized, safe and so much fun. Plus, having Collin as our guide is like a cherry on top! He is charismatic, witty and fun to be with. Highly recommended.
F. M.
The Hairy Coo´s Highland Tour was a wonderful experience! We visited beautiful, interesting places and got to know something about Scottish history and culture through our guide, who showed a deep love for his country and a great sense of humour. It was informing and entertaining and I absolutely recommend the tour to anyone visiting lovely Scotland.
P. B.
Really a great experience! It was my only chance to visit the Scottish highlands and I'm glad I chose this tour. The views were beyond spectacular. Donald (the tour guide and bus driver) was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and about Scottish history in general - and he was funny. He provided coconuts when we visited the Monty Python castle. What more could you ask for? I also appreciated his genuineness in recommendations for where to eat when we stopped. Donald was very accommodating in that he was willing to stay at stops for longer than usual if we found particular interest in a stop. Highly Recommend!
G. R.
Absolutely best tour of the Edinburgh Highlands! Elester, our guide, was lovely and very knowledgeable. Everyone was friendly and having a good time.
I was travelling alone and I had lots of fun, it's also a great tour for couples and groups including children.
It's very popular so I suggest booking.
M. W.
We had a wonderful time with the small group of people and especially our driver, Brian.
Scotland is a beauty, and with the Coo you see quite a bit of it, hear the history, experience the great hospitality and have a lot of fun in between.
There was not a dull moment, and I can highly recommend the 3-day- tour.
Thanks again, Brian, and the Hairy Coo team!
D. Y.
Did the 3 day tour on the 2.10.20 with tour guide John. Had an amazing holiday, jam packed, full of fun, Scottish history and amazing scenery. John was a fantastic guide. Great value for money. Would highly recommend this holiday and tour company.
V. R.
Took the one day free tour and had a fabulous time! Rather than some tours where you can feel stuck in the bus, the stops were frequent which made the bus feel more like just transport between beautiful, fascinating places. Monuments, castles, small towns, natural scenery, historic stories, and more than a few jokes!
Stephen was a great guide with amazing local knowledge who kept us entertained all the way. Thanks, Princess Stephanie!
The free tour is definitely worth more than you'll pay for it!
S. M.
My husband and our two teenage kids had a fantastic tour with Brian. We went to Stirling castle, the Trossachs, and the area surrounding Loch Lomond. Brian was a lively and dynamic tour guide. He certainly knew his Scottish history! He narrated some, told jokes, and by the end of the tour had us all singing, clapping, and stomping our feet! It was a wonderful experience. We saw gorgeous scenery, learned a lot, and got to sample and buy some Scotch. Thank you Hairy Coo!! Susan McCafferty

We booked a last minute trip to see the Scottish Highlands and our random search for a tour group led us to Hairy Coo - the best decision we ever made. Booking online was easy, accommodation booking was also dealt with fast (although it was last minute, they were able to manage to book us in a BnB just to be sure that we weren't homeless during our stay. But, we opted to book our own place and they were ok with that and respected our choice), and the whole trip was fantastic!
Our driver, Scott, had exciting stories about his life and the highlands. Also, the music was well prepared for that each stop we had was welcomed with proper, Scottish, or "movie/tv series" music - something that I salute to. Most of the time travel music is not something looked at but that extra detail made the travel worth it. I seldom slept with all the stories and music being such a delight the whole trip. It was well planned, the views being a takeaway as Scotland is definitely something we should all be visiting once in our lives.
Thank you to the Hairy Coo team!
L. M.
Myself and my daughter went on on the Ness tour our guide Scott was very informative, funny and extremely handsome!!!
The places we visited were breathtaking and his knowledge of the attractions and historic tales were enthralling. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are lucky enough to have Scott as your driver/guide you have one a watch!
B. T.
1 Day FREE tour
My friend recommended me this tour and I couldn't be more grateful!
I was on this tour on Tue 12th. And it was great! Graham - our guide/driver was very friendly, funny and he was great at telling stories.
Since it's just one day tour that mean they try to show you as much as possible. Which mean that all location are close to each other, which is great since you don't have to spend more then half an hour in the bus between stops. And although it's just one day with limited time on each location you don't actually feel rushed and you're able to enjoy each place.
I highly recommend this tour!
S. V.
I had a wonderful time on the 1 day High land, Loch Ness and Whisky distillery tour. The tour was well-organised and interesting. I would highly recommend to take it, if you only have little time, but want to make the most of your trip. Also, Brian was a wonderful, and especially fun, host and story teller who made sure every one was having a great time. I would defintely do the tour again!
A. H.
Brilliant day out. Well worth it for both the sights and the brilliant story telling of our driver to keep us entertained in between.
L. I.
Our Hairy Coo tour was among the highlights of the trip my husband and I took to Scotland. We had limited time, and the tour allowed us to see the Wallace Monument, Doune Castle, and a bit of countryside all in a day. Donald was an informative and entertaining guide. And then, there were the coos! We have lots of great pictures. We recommend the Hairy Coo tours highly!
J. F. M.
Hairy Coos is the trip you need to Experience. The guide folks are well versed in sharing local history and folk lore. You may catch Nessie.
We took the 3 day Highland tour and will never forget the fun with Graham and Colon our guides. The entire coach got along like one happy family. HC booked our b&b in Inverness and it was a very comfortable place to stay two nights. Loved the sing along on the bus called Busiokie. Hiked up a small hill to view the Harry Potter scenes and railway and yes they got us there when the train was about to traverse the panoramic view, great planning.
They offer a one day free tour that you can rate after the tour by paying what you think it is worth.
T. R.
I've been on this tour five times with different friends and relatives, and it was always amazing ! The guides are really nice and funny. They give you all the information you want when you're on the bus, and leave you be once you're outside. The sites where wonderful, the timing was very clever and everybody was really happy at the end. I have no complaints, it's the best tour I've ever been on, and everytime I go back to Edinburgh I do it again ! I recommend it 100%, you'll see breathtaking sceneries, feed hairy coos and eat in a charming little village. Go !
E. G.
My best friend and I took this tour to avoid driving on the windy roads on the opposite side. It was an absolute blast. Our guide, Marty, was easy going and told us fascinating stories about Scotland's history both real and legend. The stops were well timed so you could soak in each place without having a horribly long day that left you too tired for the next. Inverness was a great town to stop in for the night--The Whinpark Hotel was where we stayed (we let Hairy Coo book for us) and the owners were delightful. Also, when in Inverness, be sure to have dinner at No. 27. Amazing food and just a short walk away.
For those, like us, who wanted to see the Highlands without knowing the best places to stop, and without wanting to handle the hassle of driving, this was the best option. Affordable, hidden gems, and a great guide. We would definitely choose them again.
S. W.
I am not a big fan of yours but it's fair to say this one was absolutely fantastic. Our guide John has been exceptional. Charmy, hilarious, amazing story teller. Highly recommend to everyone who want to see beauty of Scotland and have some fun at the same time.
L. B.
had a really amazing tour!!! aside from the 3 "planned stops" that we knew about (kelpies, Stirling castle, and the whiskey distillery) we also made a lot of little stops to take in some beautiful scenery like the lochs, and a waterfall! Marty was an excellent guide and I'd definitely look to book with this bus again next time I'm in Scotland
L. T.
Brilliant tours, true value for money! I studied history myself and can honestly say that the information given during the tour was very accurate and entertaining, the drivers/guides were very engaged and welcoming and managed to make the entire day a ton of fun. What I also really appreciated was that the group was not too big and the route was well chosen to spend enough time at each location to soak up enough of the views and information to make them last. Highly recommended!
s.
did the 1 day free highlands tour and it was amazing. Graham was a phenomenal tour guide and kept things entertaining from start to finish. Spent 9 days in Scotland, and this was the highlight of the trip by far. Would highly recommend this company to anyone interested. Simply amazing. 10/10.
C. B.
We had a great trip with John the king of the north on your highland trip where we visit Deanston distillery and sailed on the Loch Ness. Our tour guide John the king of the north made the bus trip super interesting with the story of William Wallace and the real story about braveheart. While we drove from place to place he also told stories about the areas, the sights and everything else. John the king of the north made sure that there never was a dull moment on the trip with his special selection of music with a touch of bagpipes and his busaoke! Can only recommend the hairy coo and their trips. We will definitely take one of their tours next im in Scotland!
A. M.
This is hands-down the best guided tour I've ever gone on. The driver was funny, personable, kind, and knowledgeable. I felt that we had been paid personal attention and given a true day to remember. At the end of the trip, I couldn't believe how little we had paid for such a great experience.
A note - if you don't understand by the name and self-imposed description of this company - you can expect a FUN-FILLED day. The tour is not stuffy, nor can you expect to experience it free of satire (aka Scottish charm).
I've tried other bus tour companies in the UK since my day with the Hairy Coo, and they haven't come close. Do yourself a favor and book with these fine individuals instead of getting on a massive bus full of less informed tourists.
M. L.
Ask for Martin, retriever of hats!! Had the best time, super knowledgeable and funny with his cheeky ‘dad’ jokes that made us all laugh. Went to so many great cathedrals and castles and the scotch tour was awesome. Great with suggestions on food and drinks and places to stay. They know what they are doing.
My ONLY negative is that the seats are quite small. We were average size (athletic but tall) but our shoulders couldn’t fit without one person leaning forward. 5 of us across the back seat was comical.
Being tall , prone to being car sick and being picked up last made it hard to find comfortable seats.
S. C.
My trip with Jamey was a highlight of my visit to Scotland. I was urged to take this tour by my college-age daughter who had discovered it while studying in Ireland. She was so right.
The small bus was the perfect way to see the Highlands. We stopped at major sights and minor sights, as well. I thought they did a great job of leaving just the right amount of time to explore and get the feel of our stops.
The fact that Jamey, dressed in full kit, played the bagpipes as we drank in the incredible scenery was simply charming and not cheesy at all. It added atmosphere and a spark of fun.
You get to choose how much to pay based solely on your experience, so it fits everyone's budget. Warning: you will have a lot of fun and you will pay accordingly.
A. C.
Highly recommend this tour agency. We did the Loch Ness, Glencoe and Whisky Tour from Edinburgh. The tour is quite long (approx 12 hours), as we travel a long distance, but with our nice and friendly driver Graham, the day felt in the end very short. He spent the whole tour telling us interesting stories about Scottland and the places we visit and playing some good scottish music. Would definitely do it again!
M. R.
We did the "Hairy Coo" back in October, it was absolutely one of the highlights of our short time in Edinburgh. Donald was extremely informative and his commentary (along with his music selections ! ) was extremely interesting. This trip was well worth the time and well worth the full price ( or more !!). If we have the opportunity to return to Edinburgh will do the "Loch Ness Tour" next time !!
O. L.
I had an splendid beyond expectation trip with Hairycoo during a 3 day highland tour. I give my thanks to first the natural beauty of the highland, second the Scottish cultural elements such as the music and the tales, and last but not least Brian our guide. Brian puts a lot of passion in telling Scottish legend tales, explaining history, plus he has an cute sense of humor. I felt his love for the job and his good heart for everyone in the group.
I’m very glad I made the choice to do this not on my own, with the level of commute, the planning of touring route, it would be great deal of work. Hairycoo and Brian made it easy and comfortable for me, which is a precious thing during travel.
Wish to see Scotland and the hairy cows again in near future.
E. L.
First of all, it is unavoidable: Thank you, Colin!! I know Scotland is beautiful, I know Scotland's history is both amazing and rich, I hoped to see in this trip most of those sceneries I had imagined, but I must honestly say that Colin made it all better!
The trip takes you through breathtaking sceneries, mountains as far as the eye can see, roaring rivers and quite a few Hollywood picked spots, the distillery is a must, the Loch Ness tour is on par with the bus trip, and all the picked stops are quaint and beautiful. And Colin is a great host through all of that! Funny, knowledgeable, caring and a great conversationalist. And I'm writing this before having too much whisky!!
I recommend this trip to everyone who wants to have a good time and see some of the Highlands breathtaking views.
To end, it's never enough: Thank you Colin! You showed me why Scotland feels like home to me! Alba gu brath!!
F. A. F.
Freddy is extremely informative! And I enjoyed his musical anecdotes related to Scotland!
A. L.
We had an amazing time John “King of the North” Was a great tour guide he told us all kinds of interesting facts hilarious stories and just an extremely entertaining and personable person. I would highly recommend this tour for anybody visiting Scotland it packs a punch and the sites are gorgeous
Our tour had some challenges that were completely beyond John’s control he handled them like a professional (delays caused by road construction and traffic accidents) he made the tour interesting exciting I had some amazing stories to share with us
So I would highly recommend this tomorrow if you’re trying to cover a good part of Scotland in a short period of time
Thanks John

My husband and I booked the 3 day Isle of Skye, Inverness and Highlands Tour and it did not disappoint. Marty was our tour guide and he worked hard to ensure that everyone had a great time. He was very knowledgeable about all of the beautiful places we were taken to. He entertained us with stories about William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Bonnie Prince Charlie and many more (some true and not so true!). He gave us a flavour of the Gaelic language interspersed with jokes and music. I have been on tours where there has been an overdose of information but this was not the case here. Marty got it just right!
We loved Loch Ness and watching the Jacobite steam train cross the Glenfinnan viaduct. We were blessed with lovely warm sunny weather which enabled us to see the top of Ben Nevis. Loch Ness is beautiful and we loved the village of Dunkeld. This tour takes you around some beautiful places with breathtaking scenery. We were taken to parts of hidden Scotland that we would never have visited if we had not booked this trip.
This tour is great value for money and suitable for all age groups. I would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to see some beautiful scenery, film locations, hidden treasures and a flavour of Scottish history!
H. V.
Don't do any other tour in Scotland/Edinburgh! Great tour, great guides. We went on the free highlands tour. Andrew was very informative, really nice to get out of the city and see some of the real Scottish countryside/highlands...and to see some hairy coos!
Highly recommend.
G.
The 3 day tour to Isle of Skye was amazing to say the least. The natural beauty is to be seen!
I could not have had a better tour experience than I did with Michael on the Harry Coo tour. Took pride in his job and his country. He also taught me about new animals such as the shiraffe. Amazing!
A. W.
My wife and myself were part of a recent three day tour to Inverness/Skye. It was a great experience. Mark our driver and guide did an excellent job. Plenty of information and stories about Scotland and very helpful. In the three days we saw a lot of Scotland and learned a great deal about the history. I recommend it to those who want to see and learn the maximum amount you can in three days. Albie
M. S.
We booked to go on the one day trip to Loch Ness on Wednesday the 11th of March. This trip took in a tour of Deanston distillery and various other points of interest along the way. The trip was very well organised and easy to book with us only booking the day before. This was most likely possible to being out of season. The thing that made this trip was our driver and guide Colin. He was a safe and courteous driver which made for a relaxed day. This man is larger than life though and has a wealth of historic facts and personal anecdotes. He kept us entertained with so many laughs along the way for the trip which was 12 hours. Colin you are an absolute legend and I hope you can accept that from an English man 😉 When we are next in Scotland we will be booking a multi day trip as long as Colin is guiding us through this beautiful county.
S. P.
Awesome tour! Loved it! I don't like group tours but this was very well organized, fun and very comprehensive. We saw so much in 3 days! isle of Skye and Glen Coe are so incredibly beautiful. Please go see it!
Graham was very good.Funny , gracious and capable,we could relax and enjoy, not worrying about anything. Price is very fair.
Accomodations in Inverness were nice and clean and comfortable at good price that includes a great breakfast 😁
Highly recommend The Hairy Coo tour!
R. H.
Rose was our tour guide. She has a fun personality and is very knowledgeable of Scotland's history and folklore. The second day to the isle of Skye is a bit long but all the castles throughout the trip are awesome
D. S.
This was my second time travelling on a hairycoo tour. I had initially booked the wrong date for my tour but they were extremely accommodating and put my whole family of 5 on another 1-day tour without any hassle or extra charges at all.
Our tour guide (Michael) was very well organised, and we managed to cover a lot of places with enough time to relax at each stop, and enjoy the full experience. There was a good range of sights including the kelpies, sterling castle, loch lomond, whiskey distillery, doune castle and a bonus waterfall. Great way to see so much of Scotland in a day!
M. G.
a Friend just booked the daily “free” tour for us. No words can describe on how great it was! It was an amazing surprise. I highly recommend the tour for anyone. The driver was very knowledgeable of the route who explains all of its history and fun facts. He recommended many good places throughout the trip as we stopped at specific locations. The scenery was beautiful , bus was clean and as mentioned again the driver Donald was super friendly , funny and well rounded. Do it ! Do it!
J. L.
Amazing experience travelling with this tour. We took the tour to Loch Ness and Glencoe. Boy, the tour guide + bus driver was awesome! He kept us entertained with stories and jokes throughout the trip. And an honest tip here: if you wish to take the tour, make sure you get enough rest and sleep the night before so that you do not sleep throughout the tour as it can be quite boring unless you get the window seats where you can observe the nature and beautiful highlands outside!
R. B.
I went on this tour a year and a half ago and still have vivid memories. Our bus driver was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, especially when it came to Nessie lore. The villages you stop in along the way are all charming and beautiful and you get a real sense of the scope of Scotland's varied geography. Being able to see so much country in such a short amount of time only made me want to come back to Scotland to spend as much time as possibly in the countryside.
M. H.
Stephen was our tour guide! Fantastic guide! Loved all of the history and was timed so well considering the limited sunlight. His humor was a fun bonus! We had the MOST fun in Scotland because this tour. Highly recommend!
M. K.
I went on this Tour this month and I enjoyed it a lot. Our guide was Donald he was very informative and entertaining. The tour had many stops at interesting locations and some of the stops just contained beatiful scenery of the highlands. The whole time I had the feeling that the Hairy Coo tour is from someone who genuinely enjoys their job as Guide and they were enthusiastic to talk about the scottish culture.
10/10 would tour again
K. S.
Best tour we’ve ever had!! Scotland provided the views for sure - but seeing 3 days of Skye and the Highlands with our new favorite Super Action Hero Guide John - who provided the education as well as entertainment - now THAT is memorable. Thank you Hairy Coo. Thank you John. Whatever you’re paying John - it’s not enough.
A. B.
The visited sights were a great gauge of what can bee seen in Scotland, fit into one day at least. Amazing scenery, historical site visits, free time in beautiful Scottish towns, and feeding the hairy coo made it a very unique tour! The tour guide, Donald, is incredibly knowledgeable about Scottish history of all types, and when on the bus between stops, is providing anecdotes, Scottish movies, and historic accounts. Incredibly friendly and personable too.
L. o.
Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and learn about Scotland's fascinating history and culture in an entertaining way!
Sitting in a bus for hours can be quite tiresome. On the Hairy Coo tour, however, you won't just watch the scenery passing by. Time after time you will hop off the bus, explore the historic sites, wander about paths less trodden, enjoy stunning views, and take pictures of Scotland's astounding wilderness.
Let the Hairy Coo bus take you over the hills and far away from the city's hurly-burly. This tour is a unique experience and definitely one of the must-dos when traveling Scotland. The Hairy Coo, the local guide's brilliant storytelling, and Scotland’s grand nature will exceed your expectations. Promise!
R. S.
My friend and I took this trip in 2012 & went to the highlands. The trip was small enough where it was still very personal, which was unique and a lot of fun since we'd never been to Scotland before. The price was reasonable & the tour guide, whom I believe was the owner, was funny & very informative. I would book another trip through this company the next time I come to Scotland.
C. L.
I went on the Free Highland Tours with The Hairy Coo. The day was brilliant from start to finish, despite the Scottish weather! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, I'd definitely recommend this trip to see a bit of Scotland on a short stay.
J. A.
Our guide and driver, John, an amazing guy who regaled us with his stories and jokes. Never a dry moment. His in-depth knowledge and pride for Scotland is clear for everyone to see and hear. He tried his best attempt to make up for the rain during the journey and his regret can be clearly felt. But through it all, the beauty of Scotland and especially the Highlands, is not lost. A cliché but my heart is in Scotland!
Pick up and drop-off was very convenient. John is very organised and systematic, always on time, tried to accommodate our requests for toilet breaks and gave spot on recommendations for coffee and food! And an excellent driver at navigating the difficult roads. A very funny, dependable and experienced guide - the best guide I have ever had in ALL of my travels.
Hotel provided for in the package (at an additional charge) was very cosy and spotless and room was a good size for 3 person.
Charging of mobile phones and other electronic devices via USB cable is available on board the bus – and it is a very comfortable bus!
Highest recommendation for Hairy coo and I cannot recommend them enough!
J. D.
Did the free Scottish Highlands tour, and it was awesome. We really did see a lot of different places (as well as hairy coos), and our guide Stephen was very funny/entertaining. Loch Katrine was absolutely gorgeous.
A. B.
Ryan was a great guy, he spoke all the way from Edinburgh to Loch Ness and said a lot too. It was a very well organized tour!!!! Thank you!!!!
R. B.
This really is a great experience - I've been twice! The first time about two years ago and again last month. I not only learned a lot from our guide, but even in the drizzle the sights were amazing. Feeding the adorable coos was definitely a highlight and the scenic stops were gorgeous. Would definitely recommend it to anybody living or visiting Edinburgh for a nice day out!
V. M.
Me and my wife did the 3 days Inverness-Skye tour early august. We enjoyed it a lot and will recommend it to our friends and family in France. Our guide John was great and very fun to listen to, telling us stories about Scotland history and culture. This tour is a must do to visit Scotland.
Allez les bleus !
T. M.
I did the one day whiskey distillery , Glencoe and Loch Ness tour with John. Firstly John is amazing he has such a profound knowledge and firey passion for Scotland and it really makes this tour worth it. We went on the day of winter solstice so John had his work cut out for him but I dont feel we missed a lot. The highlands are stunning and so special the whiskey tour was great but the stand out was loch Ness and I do feel we had enough time there. If I was to re-plan my time I would have done a 2 day tour instead because I just could not get enough and wished I had more time.
I. V.
I've been on this tour twice and loved it both times!
In this tour you get: knowledgeable and friendly guides, a wide variety of sites from historical sites (Wallace monument, Doune castle, Forth bridge) to stunning vews of the highlands (e.g. Loch Katrine), hairy coos which you can feed with the bread provided by the guide, delicious pies at the Aberfoyle delicatessen (you can eat in other places, though, if you want to). You also get to learn about Scotland's fascinating history as well as contemporary culture. You're even played some Scottish music.
Other highlights are the clarity of communication from the organisers and the fact htat you get to pay only what you think the tour was worth (in the case of the Free Highland Tour).
Overall, with this tour you get to discover many great things about Scotland and is great for people who had never been in Scotland before as well as for people who have lived there their whole life.
It's a great tour and I highly recomment it!
L. P.
I took a Hairy Coo tour in 2013 and loved every bit. It's fun, filled with historical facts, and you get to see some of the most important monuments in the history of Scotland, culminating at Doune Castle. Do I hear coconuts?
Next year I'll be visiting Edinburgh again and maybe I'll try to find Nessie this time.
J. S.
Amazing tour! My tour guide (Donald) was really friendly and humorous throughout the journey. As for the route taken, it was a fantastic one as most of the sights covered were different from the traditional paid tours. We even got to get up close and personal with the cows. The best part is that they maintained their group sizes to a certain limit so as to make the experience an overall enriching one for everybody.
f.
We went on the free tour with Ryan and had a great time! Lots of great activities packed into one day such as: visits to a castle, lochs, a picturesque village and even a hairy coo in the flesh. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had many interesting facts/stories to tell. Highly recommended
D. L.
I’m so glad I joined this tour trip. Hairy Coo makes 3 days Isle of Skye package very easy. No long distant walking. just sit back in the car and enjoy the beautiful highland scenery and driver/tourguide’s interesting Scotland stories.
H. L.
Lately we enjoyed trip with this company. It was very easy to book it on their pages that offer each information you can think of. The trip was very well organised. The guide succeeded to present a lot of interesting facts about history, nature, geology and even common life in Scotland in a very entertaining way. As foreigners we appreciated his nice, understandable English.

Colin was “AWESOME! Oooh yeah” (a Colin-ism). He safely got us to as many spots as he could while spending an appropriate time at each spot. He literally went the extra mile. He is a safe and confident driver. He also keeps the long rides interesting by sharing his impressive knowledge of Scottish history in a very entertaining manner. Top marks!

We did the daytrip to Loch Ness via Deanston Distillery on 30.12. Our driver John was probably the best ambassador Scotland could have send to make our trip unforgettable. From the dram of whisky to the glens, from the duns to the lochs, he explained everything we needed to know. Some extra stories here, a dry joke hidden there, marvelous :)
The locations...
If you've done other distilleries, spend the time at the shop or the pub. Deanston does their job more oldschool though, so you can see some extraold material.
The drive through the glens is amazing...just what you expect from the Highlands. Breathtaking views of endlessly green (brownish in winter) mountains, garnished with some stories of slaughter.
What comes with the glens is of course the lochs. You'll see some of the thousands in existance...of course also one, if no the moat famous one...Loch Ness. Unfortunately, this one was a wee bit disappointing. Not the loch, nor the monster though. They were fantastic. The tour on the boat was the disappointing part. It was informative about the lke and the subject, but lackes some entertainment. (A cryptozoologist, a dummy in the water, a galery on the boat for example) Also, it was crowded and hard to get a good spot.
During our tour, John played us some nice tunes from Scottish linked artists. Very nice choice of artists/songs. And of course, he kept the best for last :D
And here, I want to quote him:
"In Scotland, we don't build walls, we build bridges"
And that's absolutely what happened that day.
If I would have to mention something negative, it would be the seats on the bus. They are quite narrow as it's a smaller bus. So you really have to know your neighbour ;)
Thanks for the tour :)

We took the June 9, 2018 Hairy Coo 3-DAY ISLE OF SKYE, INVERNESS & HIGHLANDS TOUR. Our guide and driver was Stephen, and we choose the B&B option for the nights we spent in Inverness. The tour itself is very interesting, with an excellent sample of castles, natural and man made wonders, historical and movie sites. The accomodation was excellent (we had a small issue regarding payment but the Hairy Coo company has a hotline for those already on tour and it was promptly solved — Viator, however was useless, so book directly with Hairy Coo if you can). Our guide has elevated it to another level, with interesting (and accurate) historical facts, info for the movie/tv fans, and has even throw in an amazing sound track for the time in the road. And he’s also an skilled drive, important for the narrow roads in the Highlands. Thank you Stephen!

Amazing and totally recommended. Especially John (known as the king of the North), the best tour guide I ever had.
J. W.
Great experience, fun guide, lots to learn, and would reccomend to anyone with a day in Edinburgh
R. C.
Loved it!!! This was such a wonderful tour. Firstly the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, charming and an excellent storyteller. The stops on the tour were interesting and engaging, and the scenery was typically breathtaking. I would highly recommend The Hairy Coo company! They only ask you to pay what you think the tour was worth, and they work very hard for this money.
J. L.
Went on the lockness tour on bank holiday Monday, was fabulous even with a few issues the driver Stephan never faltered dealt with everything so well and made the day so enjoyable, he had great knowledge and kept everyone entertained with his stories he had great knowledge of the history of Scotland. We loved it so much on the Tuesday we did the haunted history tour and and again it was amazing definitely worth it loved every minute of it

I am grateful to The HairyCoo Tour Group for giving me wonderful memories by bringing me to Scotland's beautiful places. With my limited budget, I was able to step foot to the Isle of Skye, Inverness, The Highlands, the Harry Potter Bridge (Glenfinnan Viaduct), and so much more. Scotland has a lot to offer that cannot be found in other places. From landscapes to castles to monsters(?) -- I can never get enough of them. But these awesome places are miles apart from each other, it may take you 30mins to an hour to get to your next tourist spot so I highly recommend going on a tour group if you want to explore more in your limited days. Unless of course if you have your own car and you know how to map your way around the area. Cheers! 😉🤗

Scotland was brought to life for us ! Seeing the beautiful scenery was amazing , but the guides on the Hairy Coo tours made it an experience you will not soon forget ! History was given life in the superb story telling !
H. S. G.
This was the best bus tour I have ever been on my whole life. I have been to US, Europe, India but there is nothing like the Hairy Coo tours. It's laugh riot, silly and informative, full of activities. As we all know this plus Scotland = heaven. I promise you won't regret it!
S. V. P.
We really enjoyed this tour. Not only because of the locations visited (all of the amazing!) but also because of the overall guidance and organisation. Our guide (John) was kind and hilarious, and all the stories he told us were very interesting. He seems to really enjoy his job as he is very passionate about it. Would definitely recommend, excellent value for money.
s.
Amazing tour. Our tour guide, Donald, made the whole trip perfect. He recommended things to do in the little towns the we stopped in and even gave us a basic review of every restraunts in the town we had lunch at. He did such an outstanding job of sharing the history of his country. All the locations were perfectly timed out and he even had coconuts for the Monty python castle.
S. H.
This trip is amazing. You could see the best of the highlands in the shortest amount of time. It was planned carefully and highly experienced. I also felt very save with the tour guides who were very welcoming and constantly made sure everyone felt well. I had the best time, not a second did I have to worry about anything, even the accomodation was booked for me. The tour guide is comedic gold and the atmosphere was very relaxing and open, so the guests chattet, joked and even sang along with each other. A life-time experence.
S. C.
saw so many beautiful places on the day tour, but definitely felt there was enough time to get to know each place. the guide was friendly and informative and a very great story teller. if i ever go back to scotland i’m definitely going to look into one of their multi-day tours.
L. B.
AMAZING TOUR! Did the whiskey,Glencoe, lochness 1 day tour. The stops were perfectly timed including some short stops for photos. The guide was able to provide great advice on unique snacks and foods you should try in each of the villages that is stopped in. The stories and music were great additions to the bus tour. Could not recommend this company enough
R. D.
We spent two weeks in Scotland and the Hairy Coo Tour was truly one of the great highlights of the entire trip. Thanks to Donald for bringing Scottish culture to life in such a wonderfully engaging and entertaining way. Never, ever to be forgotten!!
T. J.
This was a great tour. I'm pleased that i chose this tour with Hairy Coo as it was first time that i visited Scottish highlands. Amazing and spectacular country side. The guide was really friendly and help full. I'm pleased to recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Edinburgh.
C. K.
Brian was a wonderful tour guide for the 1 day Highland experience!!! There was not a stop we didn’t enjoy and he kept us entertained throughout with fascinating history and the best corny jokes that can be offered. A magical day!
S. P.
Booked the 3-day-Tour into the Highlands and Skye and loved every second of it. Stephen was funny and knew so much and you could just tell that he loves what he is doing. We were so lucky with the weather all the time and had amazing Sceneries.
P. V.
Had a fantastic 3 day trip to the Highlands and Isle of Skye. John, our driver and guide, is a rockstar! He made the entire trip fun, and kept us engaged with his stories. I highly recommend Hairy Coob travels.

What an amazing tour. It has been our life time wish to tour Scotland and now both retired we could not have done it in better style. The accommodation at The Penta Hotel Inverness was 1st class. Graham made the tour with his knowledge, humour and kindness. His insight to the location and interior décor of every public toilet in the highlands (including the one with the little old lady and the wee dog) made for a very comfortable journey. Sadly Nessie didn't make an appearance but the fleeting glimpse of the fabled sharaffe more than made up for this. Graham's sing-a-long and general zeitgeist for the festive season was so enthusiastic and contagious we came home and put our Christmas decorations up. Once again thanks for an unforgettable and amazing tour.
Best Wishes to all at The Hairy Coo in the future.
Merry Christmas
Sue & Richard

I love it!! I've been in couple of their tours. This is a great intro to Scottish history, they really know their stuff and they worked hard on making this experience engaging and fun. I suggest their Free Highland tour if you're vising for a few days or on a budget. I literally suggested this tour to everyone I know living or visiting Edinburgh, and I mean literally by the literal meaning of the word :P
n. m.
It was lovely experience to travel highlands of Scotland with Bryan .. He made our trip really interesting with some brutal Scottish stories and some wonderful music .. overall loch ness trip apart from bus journey does not have any fancy thing and all tours agencies including the hairy coo follow same tour map which makes the path more crowded
S. T.
I went on this tour 3 years ago and although there wasn't many of us on that bus - it being a cold, rainy summer day, the tour guide was so helpful and humorous and really lifted the mood. For all the work they do, I wish I could have tipped them more because they put so much heart and soul into what they do. Thanks for showing my mate and I such a beautiful side of Scotland!
P. E.
Fantastic 10 hour tour of castles, lochs and a whisky distillery. Ryan the tour guide was very funny and knew his stuff, made the history of the places come alive and threw in a few extra stops which made the day even better.
A.
Recently did the three day highlands and Isle of Skye tour with Stephen as the driver/guide. Huge kudos to him for his wealth of knowledge and entertainment over the three days. I think the amount of 5 star reviews and positives words speak for themselves. Highly recommend this company!
P. B.
My wife and I did the Hairy Coo tour while visiting in 2011. The team at Hairy Coo were fantastic and we really felt like they gave us an "untouristy" experience. We still look back at our Hairy Coo photos with fond memories. Would definitely recommend and wish them all the best! Patrick from Canada.
C. M.
Went to the 3-day Isle of Skye tour, Callum and Mark are the best!! Callum tried to entertain everybody all the time and Mark told us horror stories. Really love how Callum introduced to us different parts of the highland, especially how he told the story about Fiona on the bridge between the Cuillins!! HAHA!! Absolutely in love with the tour and the accommodation Hairy Coo booked for us is nice as well:D
M. M.
Great day of fun and history filled adventure. Driven by a crismatic, slightly sarcastic red bearded , kilt wearing Scot!
We love you COLLIN♥️
With just the right amount of historical story telling and music to make the day into the perfect rhtymn.
Book the big orange hairy coo!
You'll be glad you did!
M. B.
Fantastic tour to Loch Ness made all the more wonderful by our tour guide/driver Brian. Wonderfully entertaining and we learnt so much historical information relevant to where we were. Entertaining, informative and great value for money. Thoroughly recommend.
L. M.
I did this tour one December while I was studying abroad and it was amazing. Even though it was cold and it got dark at 3:30 I had an amazing time. Our guide, Russell, was very funny and knowledgeable. And he coos are adorable. I was so sorry to hear about Hamish's passing. He will be missed.
M. P.
We spent a day with the Hairy Coo and Nick in the summer of 2012 on their free tour and we absolutely loved everything about the experience: the sights, the stops, the history and the stories, the lovely driver/guide who provided loads of information and entertainment. Definitely going back soon!
C. L.
This was honestly the best tour I have ever been on. I have been to other places and searched for something similar. The truth is, there is nothing like the Hairy Coo tours. It's silly AND informative. They will take you to some of the most beautiful "of the beathn path" places. Even if you're not a "bus tour" person, I promise you won't regret it!
D. K.
Very fun tour - Ryan was the most amazing tour guide!

Please disregard my username as Google made me create one just to write this review, but I felt it was worth the inconvenience since this was such a truly wonderful and memorable tour. I came up to Edinburgh from London for a weekend break and this was the absolute highlight of the visit. From the beautiful scenery, to the excellent narration of sights, not to mention the super friendly and down to earth personality of the guide this was just a really positive experience and I would highly recommend the Hairy Coo to anyone visiting the area. A definite must do.
F. I.

I. M.
Went on a highland and loch ness tour with the company this summer. Its a small bus so a far more intimate experience. Also the driver/tour guide Russ has a wealth of knowledge about scotland that even I (a knowledgeable scot) learnt a thing or two! The whisky tour also lots of fun, especially the two free whisky glasses given afterwards.
i. m.
Did the 3 day Highlands Tour with Colin as our guide recently. Colin was a fantastic guide and a font of knowledge on Scottish history. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommended
K. A.
If you have been to the Highlands before, this tour may not be for you, as they do not go too deep into the Highlands. But, still had unique stops a long the tour. We got a chance to feed Highland Cows, which was quite fun!
M. M.

The tour gave us a chance to see lots of amazing places and there was not a tiny bit of moment of boredom as the guides kept everyone entertained and the frequent stops were keeping everyone fresh. The hairy coos, that we had a chance to feed with carrots bought by the guides, were real MVP's of the tour too!
