Reviews of McKinlay Kidd

My husband and I had a fantastic time this past August. We chose the small group guided Loch Ness, Jacobite and Skye tour. Our small group of 9 from around the world quickly bonded, our guide was fun and knowledgeable. Everything was exactly as described and the staff was professional and wonderful to work with. McKinley Kidd was accommodating and flexible in arranging everything including an additional three days so we could see Stirling Castle and the Edinburgh Tattoo. I fell in love with the grandeur of the Highlands and the Isle of Skye. We hope to return next year.

Just completed NC500 plus 3 nights in Orkney (booked with McKinlay kidd via Kuoni). Wow, the scenery was just stunning (even though we were not having the heatwave that England were getting). Having lived for 2 years in Scotland and barely touched the West Coast (couple of camping weekends in Ullapool), we felt this was a good time to do the NC500. The hotels were beautiful, the staff extremely accommodating and friendly, the food was amazing (I am a master chef's daughter so high standards). It was by far the best holiday we have had. Mckinlay kidd have definitely done their research and picked the best places to stay. I will not hesitate to recommend Mckinlay Kidd, there are not enough stars on here to express our opinion of the whole experience. Thank you for an amazing holiday - worth every penny.

Couldn't believe there were no Google reviews of this amazing tour company, so I had to be the first. We took their "Premier West Highland Line to Skye" train trip through Scotland last September and now we're booking a two tour combination for later this year with them.
They are very customer service friendly and willing to customize any of their packages to suit your needs.
We took the train from Glasgow to Ft. William according to their tickets. They picked us up in a van and took us to a perfect little inn near the mountain Ben Nevis. We were greeted by the innkeeper with tea and scones. His gardens were lush and full of flowers. He then directed us across the street where we hiked to the old ruins of a bridge, which was the scene of an historic battle. The most beautiful short hike we could have asked for! Sheep on the hills, lush growth with wildflowers and old trees near a well-worn path. It helped that the weather was perfect.
Our room had a large window that faced the mountain and the meals, dinner and breakfast, were really good. In the morning, a van arrived on time to take us back to the train station where we boarded the Jacobite steam train from Ft. William to Mallaig. Our first class seats were at a wood table with a Tiffany-style lamp. The clean windows looked out on amazing scenery the whole ride.
Once at Mallaig, they directed us to a perfect little restaurant for fish and chips, then we boarded the ferry to the Isle of Skye. The ferry ride was not long, but we have more of our favorite photos from that portion of the ride.
A car picked us up and drove us to the old Inn house. Our clean, large room looked out over the sound and at the lighthouse you may see in brochures. The light changed that scene repeatedly throughout the day. We walked the area for hours, including into an very old church that was open, but unoccupied.
The Inn is attached to a distillery outlet and a pub, which attracts all the locals. Half a dozen people included us in their dinner conversation and we were instantly immersed in the culture. Two nights at this inn were not enough. We could have lived there forever.
We were then taken by van back to the ferry port. We shopped the local stores and then ferried back to the train--a regular train this time--and made the trip back to Glasgow. The train ride, although not on steam train, rode us past some amazing vistas that resulted in more amazing photos of the Highlands. Hikers got on and off at various stops. The scenery was truly breathtaking.
Everything I just described was coordinated and ticked by McKinlay-Kidd tours. The meals beyond breakfast and tea were not inlcluded, but everything else was part of their tour. It was all top shelf and the directions in our package were very clear. It was the highlight of our trip to the UK and I highly recommend the company.
I'll add some photos soon. Thanks for reading.

Words cannot begin to describe the level of detail and service this company provides. My wife and I were on our first trip to the UK and found this company by a google search. From the accommodations, to the transportation, and the transfers- our trip was flawless. This was our first time using a tour company, and they have set the bar very high. When we travel back to the UK, we will use them with out question.
