Visitor centre is in a good location
And a great base to explore the windfarm, whether that is on foot or on bike.
The cafe is OK, there is not much hot food offerings, really feel like they are missing a trick here. Also limited outdoor seating however they have a large mostly empty decking area.
The windfarm is great for a walk, make sure to ask the j for desk for a nap.
S.
Great place to walk the dogs. Plenty of parking. The visitor center is educational and interesting with a nice little cafe looking out over the wind farm. Keep in mind this place has its own weather system it was very well placed.
L. F.
Really enjoyed our visit. Beautiful visitors centre. Lots of parking. We took the dog and walked for miles around the windmills. If you enjoy walking then this place is amazing.
R. A.
Great place for a walk, different length trails for beginners and advanced etc. cafe is pretty decent for a small bite to eat
L. M.
Do you like an outdoor walk? You’ve got to try here.
Such lovely paths with lots to see & do. The coffee shop serves great coffee & cakes which very priced very reasonably too.
K. K.
Lovely place to visit, went when it was very cold, very windy and walking past the windmills made it more windy, so if you do go during the cold season bundle up because it is cold. Lots of windmills to see!

Great location. Staff are all very friendly and welcome everyone. Plenty walks and bike trails.
G. A.
Great place to walk and walk (or cycle).
Plenty of routes to choose from.
Also the option to take the electric bus tour from the centre.
Café is a good place to stop and catch a bite while enjoying the view.
Get there early on a good day or parking can be tricky.
M. B.
Great walks, great view, lovely bite to eat at the Visitors Cafe. Will be a regular visit for walking. My daughter even enjoyed the walk and seeing the wind turbines. The visitor centre not fully open but cafe and toilet facilities are available and all very clean.
m.
Excellent place, cafe, toilets and lots of open space for walking and cycling. Recommend as a good day out and will visit again. Also has several electric car and solar charging points.
J. S.
I love this place, whether you want a short stroll or a 15km hike its all here, I find the turbines mesmerising and very calming to walk around. The cafe is open but the visiting centre is still shut, there are picnic beeches throughout so take some lunch and put your walking shoes on.

Visitors Centre with loilets and a café.
Loads of outdoor walks for dogs and offroad cycling.

We spent the most terrific morning at Whitelee Wind Farm including a wonderful tour of the the site on the visitor centre's brand new all-electric bus. Our tour guide Stuart was knowledgable, explained everything we saw and answered all our questions. He was terrific with our young kids too. We learnt a lot about wind energy and had a lot of fun. The visitor centre cafe with it's fantastic views across the site was a great place for a pit stop afterwards. It was free to access the visitor centre and a family trip on the bus (tour length ~45 minutes) was £10 (3 adults and 2 under-fives). There are also well-marked - and evidently very popular - trails across the site for walkers and cyclists allowing for independent exploration on what is a beautiful site, of interest, as much for its flora and fauna and beautiful far-reaching as the turbines. I'd really recommend a visit for all ages!
J. A.
Totally awesome. The scale of the place is difficult to take in. We walked about 3.5 miles along the routes and paths but when we looked at the map it was only a tiny part of the site.
Well worth the visit if only to appreciate the statistics of how much renewable energy contributes to Scotland.
V. D.
A good walk for humans and dogs. A few different routes. Lost a point as I think it should be easier to plot a route. Signs should be accompanied by maps and have walking times (approx clearly).
Calm and relaxing nonetheless.
R. D.
Whitelee windfall has a large number of turbines - one of the largest sites in the UK. Visited with a view to carrying out some research and took a short tour of the site. Very impressive machines, the technology for these is coming on in leaps and bounds and its very impressive to see.
Windfarm is easily accessible by road from Glasgow, although the final road to the visitors centre is perhaps over-generous to cyclists!

We went for “Nae Fireworks” night and it was perfect for our dog who doesn't like fireworks. You wouldn't have known it was bonfire night. There were schedule walks with wardens and the cafe was open! Will definitely be back next year. Recommend it for any dog owners
S. T.
Has a cafe, exhibition hall and a reception. Nice wee place to rest after walks or rides. Coffee and food is average but reasonably priced. Plenty of parking but can get busy.
H. N.
Although the Visitor Centre was closed due to COVID however the park remains open to public for what is an amazing experience to be able to walk around between the beautiful surrounding and Tall Wind Turbines. A must visit place for all ages of people including children.
L. N.
First visit last night for the no firework event and we'll definitely be back during daylight to explore more. There were plenty of Rangers on hand to help with parking/directions and they led 2 separate walks for the dogs. It was amazing to see so many dogs out walking with their light up collars and the cafe after the walk had as many dogs as humans. Absolutely loved it and would 100% recommend this if your dog is traumatised by fireworks...my shitzu for the first time in years had an enjoyable and stress free Bonfire night. Thank you to all the Rangers who made this happen 🥰
N. C.
Great place for a day out, the visitors centre is quite good, lacking a little buts thats made uo for. They have a nice little cafe where you can get a bite to eat and recove some of your energy after a walk through the windmills. The location it's self is beautiful and picturesque. It can sometimes be rather chilly as the wind blows. But by walking about it's rather fantastic. There are many different ways you can get about that being by walking or cycle. It's definitely a place to bring a mountain bike to be able to get round and see didfrent aspects that your aren't able too by walking. I would definitely recommend it for a visit and a day trip especially if you have children as it will tire them out with all the walking.
I. “. H.
Superb place for bracing walks , make sure you layer up because it can quickly become cool with the wind.
Well maintained paths , excellent views, great for both walking and cycling :)
L. E.
Educational! Its great to get up close and truly see the size of them. Some signage to give facts about them and learn a bit more. Free to visit, there is a cafe on sight too beside the car park. Lots of dog walkers, so car park can get a bit busy.
J. W.
Great place for a walk, good access roads, and not too strenuous.
Visitor centre well controlled for COVID rules and fantastic cafe in the building, food 1st class and at good prices.
K. A.
If your a cyclist getting there a nice run from all directions and hills a plenty . If you like a wee bit off road whatever level it's there at your convenience fab visitors center and nice place for adventure and walks
T. R.
What an amazing place. You must go. You will be blown away, literally LOL.
B. S.
An ideal place for people who like walks in the fresh air. An additional attraction are huge windmills and the possibility of riding mountain bikes or walking among the windmills with a dog.
b. c.
Whether you walk, run, cycle, dog walk, or bird watch, Whitelee wind farm is certainly a great place for all of these.
Venture out and do a few of the circuits near the visitor centre, great for blowing the cobwebs away.
Very well sign posted now, but take a free map at the gate just in case.
I used to train a lot for big cycle events, and Whitelee was the ideal place for training, very testing on the auld legs.
But let's be careful, folks, remember
when you cycle right into Whitelee, you are in the middle of nowhere, so mind how you go.
I used to get lost a lot before they put up the signposts, everywhere looked the same.
No bike this time, I drove up, left from carpark and walked over to Blackwood Hill veiw point.
On a clear day you can see for miles, take a coffee or tea, and stop for a while and take in the magnificence of Ben Lomond in the distance, marvellous.
But sadly not today, it would blaw the heid aff ye, too many clouds charging about, but still a great day to be alive and kicking.
When I first heard about the Windfarm plans, I was dead against them, and in some places of great beauty there is definitely no place for them.
But now we are all used to the sight of these Gigantors all over the British countryside.
Are they the way forward for future generations? who knows.
I'll phone Doc and Marty for their thoughts.
Whitelee can look beautiful on some days, and desolate and bleak on others.
But that's what makes it what it is, a haven for wildlife, and a place for people to enjoy their pastimes, whatever they may be, there is space for them all up at Whitelee.
It's strange, I seem to ignore the existence of the turbines anytime I am there, and just enjoy the cycling or rambling.
Maybe I've learned the fine art of Zen. 😊
Remember and take yer tammy, boots, and an extra warm and rainproof jaikit if you are braving the Scottish elements, of which there are many at Whitelee.
Enjoy, and haste ye back. 😉🏴
D. W.
Absolutely beautiful place. Full of a sense of wonder. You can walk up to these stunning man made machines if you like or just keep following the path and enjoy the literal hundreds of wind turbines around you. Worth the visit of you like these things.
D. S.
Great for walking and cycling and popular with the whole of Glasgow at the weekends. We did the Loch Goin circuit so got away from the crowds.... Weather could have been better and takeaway coffee is your only option. Pics from another day when the weather was better!
S. R.
Really nice and quiet place to stop. We used it as a free motorhome stopover for the night. When everyone leaves its quite incredible to watch the mist descend over the Windmills. The services are currently closed due to Covid, but as a first night before heading further up its easy to get to, there's usually some space for some peace and quiet, and the windmills are a great sight.
Spaces aren't completely level but not that bad.
A. D.
Very well set out and lovely scenes
Walk was easy and not difficult so good for all
Plenty of families as well
R. E.
Scottish Power have done a great thing in the Whitelee Windfarm. The visitors centre is small but informative with a few well thought out exhibits on (renewable) power generation in the UK, aimed at a wide range of ages.
We hired good quality mountain bikes from Cyclestation and had an enjoyable family experience on the dedicated bike trail (good for beginners) before cycling around Lochgoin.
Since we arrived after closing time on the Saturday, we took a short walk and then spent the night in the overflow car park in our campervan (stunning views). After the bicycle ride on Sunday we enjoyed the excellent shower facilities at the visitors centre.
L. D.
Love visiting here, loads of different walking routes so you can have a flying visit or spend a good few hours having a wander. The centre itself is good, the staff are always really friendly and helpful and they make a cracking cup of coffee in the cafe.
H. B.
Wonderful to view over two hundred wind turbines. It offers a great walk around the area, takes about one hour. The cafe offers the usual coffee, tea cold drinks and a few cakes!
A.
Fantastic place to walk your dog and children,👌☺️
J. S.
Really good for walking, especially with the young ones. I really enjoyed the visitor centre too. We didn’t eat there but ate a (home made) picnic outside on the grass. It was nice.
Very windy weather -as you can imagine- so even on warm sunny day, take along a jacket.
The VR headset was excellent for the wee ones (and grown ups too). Enjoyed my day here.
L. R.
Good walk and scenery. Places to eat and toilet facilities. Restaurant is good and clean. Took a pram and dog with us and managed fine but there is a steep hill at the start of the walk. Gravel paths and benches to sit. Would recommend especially in the warmer months for a longer visit.
H. W.
Great place to walk the dogs. Also has a nice wee cafe for snacks and drinks
C. N.
Great walks. Fascinating to be up close to the wind turbines. Toilets very clean. Cafe staff welcoming and prices low. Cakes and coffee great quality.
B. B.
Generally a good place to get out for the day. Whether cycling /walking/hill climbing or just to blow the cobwebs away.. Cafe and toilets on site and for the slightly older or maybe non walkers, tour buses are available to take you round..
A. M.
Didn't expect to be visiting a wind farm but when u do stop and gaze its quite impressive. Vast amounts of turbine (215) spread over a huge area. Looks good for cycling the 80 odd miles of tracks to.
D.
Lots of trails to explore, great scenery and a good visitor centre. Free parking, paths are gravel with some interesting cycle trails.
W. W.
Great veiws and teeming with wild bird life, lots of good walks and very educational
C. B.
Lovely place for a walk on a sunny day. The windmills are quite impressive when you stand close to them, nice experience
N. H.
Whitelee was a lovely location for a walk within driving distance to Glasgow.
The area is ideal for cycling/mountain biking as well with good cycle lanes along the main road.
The path is mostly buggy friendly as we didn't come across any steps but would be best suited to a pram that is adapted to rougher terrain as it is quite gravelly.
There are hardly any shaded parts (at least in the area we walked which was closest to the visitor center) so on a sunny day, I would recommend a hat/sunscreen.
It is dog friendly but there are areas where dogs must be kept on a lead. There are sheep and signs warning that a lamb was recently killed by a dog. You are at risk of prosecution or your dog getting shot if anything happened.
There is parking by the visitor centre and overflow parking closer to the main road but it fills up quickly on a nice day.
J. M.
Absolutely love the wind farm for a walk with with kids and dog. Visitor centre is great fun for all with VR headset experience and windtunnel, kids love it! Great cafe on site too that is very reasonable.
ذ. د.
A must see and visit place of Glasgow. These giant wind turbines makes you feel so tiny. Great place to take kids and it’s free.
A.
Beautiful walks and bike track. The turbines are really impressive up close!
Great visitor centre with interesting and child friendly exhibition as well as a craft for kids. Café is basic but has great coffee and good cakes.
Highly recommend!

Ideal place to walk the dog. Lovely hot chocolate bonus seeing Santa 🎅
Y.
Great place for walks or bike rides next to the huge windmills. It has a cafe with a great selection of food and snacks.
A spectacular place!
G.
Interesting place to find out more about windfarm. Possibility to wear virtual Google to feel like standing at the top of turbine. Also place for kids and get coffee.
v.
Great place for cycling (and cycle hire), and a nice cafe. Very scenic on a sunny day.
A. G.
Excellent place to visit for kids and adults, the bus tour was very informative too. Pleasant caafe and nice clean toilets.
F. n. L. n.
Brilliant place for a nice long walk although some paths are well hidden with plant life. 10/5 would definitely recommend coming here for a day out.
P. M. U.
This is a great location to get walking, cycling or running. The paths are well maintained and are extensive. There is also a reasonably priced cafe on site which serves a good standard of sit-in or takeaway food. Just perfect after you have walked 8 miles or so around it's longest route. There is also toilet facilities here. It's open seven days a week and the cafe shuts at 16.30. It is free to enter and park on site and easily accessible.
S.
Love Whitelee Windfarm, loads of different walks there. Easy to avoid the crowds when it's busy
I. A.
Great place to visit to get some fresh air and a brisk walk. You can also take in some education in the gist of centre about the wind turbines. Great to bring inquisitive young minds...ie the kids. Lots of on hand things to keep them occupied.
When you walk around, you just awe on the sheer size of these wind turbines.
You can hire bikes or walk. Picnic area also.
You can visit....whatever the weather.
Oh yes...they have a lovely cafe and public toilets.
D. L.
Great day out - the wind tunnel in the visitor centre is great fun for kids and we always enjoy our walks around the windfarm.
D. H.
Great place to spend a few hours. Great views and lots of interesting info about the turbines. Pleasant cafe to get a drink / snack after walking or cycling round the place. Even better if you get nice weather.

What an amazing landscape it is to walk around with all these windmills. The visitor centre is great with some very good interactive activities.

Great location for a walk during all hours, it is quiet and because of its circuit layouts you can set yourself a short, or long, of a walk as you want.
J. H.

c. d.
Fabulous informative visitor centre, great walks around moorland, lots of wind turbines, amazing views of Glasgow, Ayrshire and Arran.
J. A.
We held our daughter's birthday party here recently and cannot speak highly enough of the venue and amazing staff who organised the party. All the kids had a great time building bug hotels, taking part in a treasure hunt round the Windfarm on the bus and tasty lunch afterwards. We received lots of positive feedback from parents too, such a fun and unique party experience, would highly recommend!
S. S.
Brilliant wee day out, My son loved the VR headset and learning about wind energy. Highly recomended to any one that loves to learn about how the turbines work.
G. B.
Nice visitor centre and cafe, took walk to nearest turbine. Disappointed bus not on at weekends.
J.
As expected, big open wide windy space. Plenty to walk and ride. Cafe on site.
E. L.
Always a fun day out for the kids. Even though we have been multiple times they are still fascinated with how big they are and how they work. Will be back again soon. Visitor centre is great and has workshops spread throughout the week for kids. The cafe is really reasonably priced and cakes beautiful.
G. M.
Go get lost on the mountain bike for hours...Great remote quiet place not to far from Glasgow
P. J. H.
Even my mum likes it!. Great cafe with meats supplied by the local, Eaglesham, butcher and a really good, interactive, display room. I have seen young and old manipulating the wind over the model windmills and the displays really add to your understanding of how the wind farm works.
A. B.
Nice little exhibition and nice selection of stuff in coffee even if it is a bit over priced. Car park a bit on small side when it's a lovely sunny weekend. I'm sure it's pretty empty the rest of the year.
s. d.
Excellent place. Great for walking or riding a bike (if the bike are available).
Snacks were nice. the interactive goggles were great.
G. O.
Great for a walk with the dog or to cycle round the larger routes. There is also a cafe and children's play area in the visitor centre building.
L. P.
Stewart the bus driver was really nice and kind ! Lovely experience!

R. M.
Really good on a nice day. You can hire bikes . Food was reasonably priced and tasty. Kept kids entertained for a few hours.
R. W.
Fabulous place. Good visitor centre and cafe, bike hire, and a massive area to discover. It's a bit windy up there, but that's why it's there lol!😂😂
M. A.
Great place for a coffee and a walk and you can now hire bikes too
A. W.
Fantastic place. Thank you for the lovely craft session with my daughter. She loved her crown 👑
G. T.
Nice place for a wander or bike ride. Has a pretty good mountain bike trail, it's short but lots of variety.
M. W.
Great place for a walk with a café, exhibition about wind energy and Ranger assistance. Electric car charging available and a large car park. There is also a mountain bike trail.
J.
Really nice place to go for a walk.
L.
Great walks, it just feels like a very tranquil, chilled place.
A. M.
More than 200 working turbines show a potential glimpse into a self sufficient future or green energy.
И. М.
great circling tracks there amazing views but a bit windy..I guess why they build wind farm there
F. A.
Good learning place about renewable energy in Scotland. Kids workshop is great.
J. W.
Very interesting great walks or you can hire bikes cafe is good staff helpfull.you can stand right under the wind turbines some size would recommend for a visit.
F. D.
Not a fan of the wind turbines, they tend to ruin the landscape and make scenic places look ugly. However it is good the windfarm have made the moors accessible for walks. Be careful of adder snakes if walking on the land. Good for a very long walk 1-2 hrs and there is a nice visitor center.
R. R.
Brilliant place for wildlife. Great cafeteria. Very friendly staff. Largest windfarm in the entire UK. Mountain biking, walking and normal biking. Huge area and very peaceful. Dog should be on a leash to protect wild life. Please take your rubbish with you or bin them carefully.
S. C.
Miles of nice walks with good views (weather permitting). Turbines are impressive in size and number. Visitor centre displays were closed but cafe and loos very good and spotless. Coffee and wee cake very good also.
C. F.
Always love coming here. Brilliant friendly staff. Small but adequate selection of sandwiches etc, cakes, scones and very nice soup. Very clean visitor centre and cafe.
J. G.
Love it up there and on. Nice day no better place to be
I. M.
Great open space for walking. There is a visitor centre with a cafe and souvenirs. Check out their website for events.
C. F.
Love it here, the car park can be full and once you're in the wind farm you'll hardly pass anyone. Great for a peaceful walk or run
N. T.
There's a small exhibition explaining how wind turbines work. The view from the terrace is amazing! Coffee is OK.
R. C.
Biggest onshore windfarm in UK, great for walks and cycling while you marvel at huge wind turbines
J. M.
Lovely place for a walk and there was interesting things for you to try out.
J. D.
The visitor centre is very good and has some great displays. The whole site is very impressive and it is amazing walking amongst the turbines.
For the cyclists. The cafe is a great stop, if on a loop from Glasgow. While the tracks amongst the turbines provide miles of great gravel riding.
-
Visited with Glasgow Green Cycle Club. Had the Billionaire Biscoti Slice (a fancy millionaire shortbread) which was very tasty.
With the number of cyclists who visit, it would be good if there was somewhere to fill your water bottles, rather than having to get the cafe staff to also do this.
D. F.
Well worth a visit and a great place for a walk.
N. M.
A lovely day out for the family with walks, bus tour, cafe and interactive visitor centre. Ideal for anyone who wants to know something about wind energy generation.
T. H.
Perfect day out for a nice walk and stop for a coffee and cake.
C. H.
Great for older kids, lovely walks and very interesting.
D. P.
Staff service is great at visitors centre. However due to higher altitude temperature is quite low but a good place to visit. Been there on a college trip and it was fun. A different path is also available for people who wants to explore this place on their own bicycle.
S. B.
This is such a good place for a walk, jog or cycle.
L. P.
Largest onshore wind farm in Europe generating enough electricity to power every hole in Glasgow. The site has 3 trails set out for walking and some BMX tracks. There’s a visitor centre with some information on the site. There’s parking on site and east enough to get to.
S. F.
Excellent place to walk dogs, go for a stroll and let kids practice learning to cycle. There is also a comprehensive mountain bike trail.
The visitor centre is free and has a good exhibition on renewable energy. There is also a VR headset display which kids and adults will enjoy.
The cafe is good and reasonably priced. Plenty of free parking too.
J. O.
Great visit to see Santa, kids loved it and Santa's team was great
h. m.
Brilliant day out...great walks and the service in the cafe was top notch
m.
Great selection of trains for walking, cycling and running. The trails near the car park have become very busy since covid so it can be difficult to socially distance. Cafe is also really good, but currently closed due to covid.
w. r.
Great place to visit for a bike run. It's vast. Turbines are impressive and miles of moors. Visitor centre was closed due to covid. But we had flasks and sandwiches.
G. V.
Brilliant mountain bike trails for the kids, they had a ball. Although its take out only from the cafe, staff couldn't be more helpful, lovely to get a hot drink and cake after being out in the cold. Stunning views.
H. a. C.
Great place , delicious food in the visitors place
A. S.
First time visit to the centre, late on in the day. Exhibition still closed but cafe open, a decent light meal menu. Miles of walks around the windfarm lots of wildlife to look for.

Brilliant space for the dogs on bonfire night .
M. G.
Great for walks and the cafe does very tasty cakes and good choice of drinks and food for all of the family. Bit disappointed the exhibit is closed but hopefully open again soon
N. D.
This is a fantastic attraction. The visitor centre is well kept with some really cool features (including a wind tunnel and VR experience) and informative. The cafe is lovely and the staff are really friendly. The view of the turbines from the centre is fascinating too.
I. M.
Great little place to visit, the visitor centre is lovely and modern, with a nice airy design, but still provides a good cozy place to get away from the wind. The views from the centre are fantastic. It's a great day out if you go for a walk around the wind turbines, you can appreciate the size of them. I would recommend comfy shoes, or trainers though, as the path is coarse gravel. Only downside is the parking, could do with a bit more.
R. D.
Fantastic for a walk. Make sure you have comfy shoes and prepared for the weather.
Brilliant for dogs and kids on bikes
I. D.
Nice cafe at visitor centre serving drinks and light snacks. Activities for children are also run during holidays. Windfarm has lots of paths for walking and cycling around as well as a dedicated mountain bike track. Very impressive place to walk around on a windy day with the turbines going flat out!
P. F.
Great place for walking or cycling and the cafe is reasonably priced.
M. C.
Really nice place for a long walk
C.
Perfect place for a walk. It is so beautiful and peaceful. You hear the slight hum of the turbine and a woosh from the blades. They are incredible to be up close with.
You can have a walk that lasts 30mins to a full day.
If you plan on going there on a nice weekend don't expect to find a parking space and be patient. Don't let a little traffic mess with your relaxing walk in the countryside.
G. W.
Fantastic afternoon was spent here. It's such a great, free experience. I was surprised how interesting it was. There's a good little coffee shop, where we had hot chocolate and a lovely slice of cake before our windy walk. We plan to come back and do some of the other walks/ cycles routes.
A. B.
Great views across southern Scotland. You can walk for miles from the visitors centre. Good toilets and cafe. Desk is helpful with information. Wrap up warm as you will be nearly 1000 feet above sea level. Dry paths all the way.
B. K.
Beautiful 8mile loop around Whitelees Windfarm
E. W.
Amazing place. Great for walks and cycling. Very hilly. Visitors center is interesting. Have got a kids activity part which keeps them occupied. Café lovely with an outdoor area. Has good facilities as well.

d. m.
Amazing place but yet power is still so expensive makes you wonder what I'd the point
T. C.
The visitor centre is good, has lots of information on the wind farm and there are activities for the kids. The cafe is nice with great views of the wind farm. There are lots of walks around the wind farm, from short to long. Nice terrain for running or walking on.
M. F.
Worth a stop if you are passing or great for a dog walk or bike rides. The whole place is huge so 20 mile + rides are possible along with shorter loops. Great views as long as you like windmills!
M. H.
It's great that this Windfarm is open to the public. It's informative for adults and children alike. Lovely cafe with good facilities....even water dishes are provided for dogs! Staff are friendly and know their stuff. Good trails to follow around the windmills. Indoor children's area. It's a super place for a visit.
J. R.
Brilliant scenic views. Nice visitor center with cafe and parking.

Really nice and clean great to go after s long walk
R. D.
Great place for a long run with the dog 🏃♂️
C. S.
Love this place nice and quiet peaceful and a lovely place for a walk. You can even get a lovely cuppa at the end, and the displays inside are great for the children.
G. H.
Great visitor centre. Open seasonally though so no coffee and cake in winter. Windfarm exhibition space is informative and useful. Toilets always spotless. Cafe is fine but always exceptionally slow service.
J. R.
It was very interesting and informative. Also great fun to experiment on the different apparatus. Well worth a visit. Tea room was good and staff friendly. I ordered a coffee late with a piece of very lemoney cake.... delicious!!
Great to have the wind blow all the cob webs away!
Thank you.
J. M.
The scenery of this amazing place blew me away and it is a great day out for all the family. There is also a lovely cafe there as well with great views of the fields outside. I would recommend this place for anyone who likes beautiful scenes.

Beautiful morning for a walk, wonderful views. First time back in the café, well laid out, taking covid seriously. Friendly and helpful staff an added plus.
S. A.
Good site for a long walk or cycling.
S. B.
Visitors centre was nice. Good wee first stop to fuel up before heading out for the walk. Lots of tasty food on offer and prices reasonable. Clean and tidy. Staff very friendly too.
D. B.
Great wee visitor centre with some nice interactive displays, lots of craft activities for kids and a good cafe with a wide selection of drinks, sandwiches, cakes and snacks.
The site has loads of paths for walking and cycling and a fun (if not terribly challenging) single track mountain bike circuit.
J. F.
After a decent walk round a designated route the visitor centre offers a range of hot drinks and cakes. It also provides a brief exhibition which tells you all about the windfarm and the reasons for being on that particular site.
There are arts and crafts type activities there for the kids and a cool VR headset experience to have a go at as well....👍👍
D. S.
Friendly helpful staff, cafe for a coffee and a mini science center with supported activities. These were super. Cycling (or walking) through the wind farm and around the off road skills course was/is a good laugh. Recommended place....
C. M.
Love this place. Three or eight miles walk both easy to follow. Always had good service and food in the cafe. Museum for children and adults to visit. A good day out.
S. B.
Good place to take the kids it's free although the food and snacks are a little expensive but overall decent place to visit
A. S.
First ever visit, it's wild and windy, that's why it's here. Good walks and a decent cafe to have a light meal or just a coffee.
T. B.
I loved it. Not entirely sure what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. Hubs and son took the dog on one of the walks and our 16yr old Aspie son was totally enthralled with the turbines and how they work, which was fab. Meanwhile back at the visitors centre, I was looking around the exhibition and 'playing' on the VR headsets before getting a coffee.
When son and hubby got back we had lunch (inexpensive and filling), I then took charge of the dog while they went and got lost in wind turbines and VR headsets.
All in all very entertaining. The staff, facilities, cleanliness, parking and accessability all get a 10/10. Next time we might take the bus tour or hire a bike, its all available.
G. T.
Lovely place if the weather is good.mountain bike trails and great walks..footpaths are a bit rough in places.very hard work for prams and wheelchairs.shop was lovely although there was 4 staff seemed only 2 where working.one girl stood and looked at us as if we weren't there very strange..when a customer is infront of you always engage in some form of conversation even if its just to say we will be with you in a moment..not very hard to do.
K. H.
I took my two young boys to go and see Santa. Was a lovely morning, really lovely festive decorations and had a chance to speak to Santa and Mrs Claus who were brilliant!!! Staff were very friendly, a definite family favourite!!
F. O. u.
Real life #forza4. beautiful landscape #whiteleewindfarm ✈️
N. M.
Great place to take the kids for a bike ride out of the city. Superb mountain bike tracks made for kids. Would have been 5 stars if the cafe wasn't so expensive.
J. B.
Yes, the turbines are majestic, yes, one turn of a single machine creates enough power to run a home. But I'm here to talk about the crisps. Surprisingly great. Try the Rosemary and Sea Salt. Eat them slowly whilst looking onto all these behemoths, towering over the landscape, working hard to keep us warm and happy.
P. H.
Great place. I go up to run and so many different routes and distances available.
A. W.
Pleasant place to go for a coffee. They do light lunches - panini etc. There's a good interactive educational display for kids and it is worth going out for a walk round one of the turbines to get a sense of their scale.
D. M.
Amazing places, great walks, kids loved looking at all the wild flowers, dogs out having a stroll, great exhibition and all yous expect from UK largest wind farm.
Let down by the over priced cafe. £4.20 for a pannini with wee 4 bits of salami and a sprinkle of mozzarella. Same with the kids boxes.
K. M.
Plenty of walking and cycling tracks. Camping is allowed and there's a nice, modern cafe. They are growing native plants to improve the landscape; it looks a bit sparse, but is quite a peaceful place and is a good opportunity to see wind turbines up close. Not far from Glasgow (40mins). From the M77 turn off at Galston sign then left. Will be going back.
t. i.
Wonderful place for dog owners. Nice cafe, but not dog friendly. Good walks. There is also a mountain bike trail and cycling routes.
s.
great for short walks and also for the big walks. I bring my dog and is able to run wild
J. C.
Fantastic place. Wonderful views to the coast and isle or Arran on a clear day. The Cafe is good and nice stop off after a wander. Surreal experience being up close with the turbines.
P. R.
Visited Whitelee wind farm today with our horses . Great open space with gravel tracks . Felt as if we had the place to ourselves as we did the larger loop of the farm . Great facilities, car park was quiet when we arrived but overflowing when we left easy enough to park in overflow car park when quiet , wouldn't like to find a spot later on . Will definitely be back . One suggestion if I may , for the loan hacker , a mounting block or large stone at the start of walk for mounting would be a godsend .
Great day out , thoroughly enjoyed , thank you
N. C.
Great views and nice food
P. T. (.
Decent spot to thaw out after a wonderful walk on one of the most beautiful days of the winter. The coffee inside might not match the magnificence of the views over to Arran, but you can't see Goat Fell from Italy. They'd have hit 5⭐ for the standard of the loos alone, spotless!
J. T.
Great for walking, dogs and MTB, a small skills area but fine for kids
A good cafe as well. There's good free parking but can get busy on good Sundays
J. C.
Great day out, lovely cafe to relax in with the sight of majestic windmills I'm countryside. Lots of facilities so very cycle and run friendly. Great place to walk the dog or go for a wonder
D. K.
What a beautiful peaceful area. Friends and I did the 8 mile route, followed up with well deserved tea and cake at Visitors Centre. Need to visit again as there is lots to see and do there too.
E. W.
Good place to learn about renewable energy sources in the exhibition area. VR headset is totally amazing....so real( don't look down!)... Other interesting exhibits.a must see...David who works there was very knowledgeable answering our questions without hesitation.. Large cafe with soft or hard seats + picnic tables outside... Ok prices Plenty room for wheelchairs and prams. Toilets clean. Free carpark... Various walks & bike trails.
E. B.
Only let down by not allowing dogs in, seems to be enduring repairs too so signage up saying intervals of closure .... Walk was really good though... Dogs loved it .. luckily enough it was dry so we sat outside, don't fancy sitting outside in January though, ...
A. R.
Great place for a weekend walk and exploration. Kids love it. It will be very windy most of the days.. so plan accordingly.
D. R.
A cup of coffee and a chocolate brownie at the half way of a cycle to and from the windfarm. Fortunately for me, although at the end of their shift, the kind lady made the effort within the visitor centre. Thank you. Coffee and brownie hit the spot.
K. G.
Great day out with family great for a big walk.Helps when suns out.Visited the cafe and had some refreshments which were lovely .Nice staff
N. M.
They never had 7up free or Sprite zero
J. A.
Lovely walk, cafe open for take away and toilets open for public use and spotlessly clean. Staff friendly, helpful and very organised with dealing with queues.
E. F.
Absolutely gorgeous place to visit and their firework free nights for dogs are a complete god send! Thank you so much to all the rangers and staff that helped over the last few nights you saved a lot of pups (and their owners) a lot of stress and heartache
S. F.
My Dad, young nephew and I pre-booked the bus tour and found it to be excellent value for money. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable and really involved my 12yr old nephew in his commentary and questions which was very much appreciated. We were also impressed with the cafe in terms of prices & food/drink options. The exhibition was an added bonus and again my young nephew enjoyed the activities. I suffer from anemomenophobia, which in my case is a specific fear of windmills and turbines, but even taking that into consideration, I would like to return again, particularly on a clear day. We were unlucky in that it was blustery with heavy rain and poor visibility. Despite this, I would highly recommend a visit. 215 turbines & 80 miles of trails! There were plenty of dog walkers there enjoying the trails despite the weather. As we discussed with the tour guide, Scottish Power & the Glasgow Science Centre should do more to promote the windfarm. Perhaps offering 2 for 1 vouchers to Scottish Power customers or those you have paid entry to the Glasgow Science Centre.
A. Q.
The toys inside for the kids education needs to replaced with new
M. C.
Great place. Excellent for walks, cycling, horse riding, even educational. You couldn't do all those things at a nuclear power plant. Plus it's Green clean energy, keeping our planet alive.
A. A.
Wow! You see these turbines from a distance, but to arrive at Whitelee and see & hear them up close, AND see how many of them there are (biggest onshore UK wind farm) is something else. The free tracks map really brings home the scale of this place.
Recommended place to go, especially if you fancy a spin on your bike, a walk of the dog, a jog, a run, or give the wee people in your life some fresh air. Cafe none too bad either.
PS Guess what ... it can be windy, so come prepared with a jacket and decent footwear. Umbrellas not recommended!
A. B.
Love walking around the trails here, the visitor centre is very nice too with a lovely cafe. I guess you can hire it out for children's birthdays too
J. L. (.
There is a wee cafe which serves homemade scones and cakes. A activity area for kids all about wind. Whole area could be more dog
friendly. No where to take your dog and have a cuppa on a cold day.
P. D.
Great walks, views, coffee and cakes! All good!
T. G. F.
Most informative. You think you know about something then you get it explained correctly. Wonderful interactive suite and demonstrations and I was surprised at the cycling routes and facilities available at the site. Worth a visit. Plan the weather.
g. s.
Superp place to walk, cycle and learn about wind power. If your a wind power skiptic, then you must come, they are not noicey and are fascinating to watch. Also has a cafe with one of best views around. For EV owners there is two 22kw AC chargers. (Free, but you need a charge place Scotland card)
j. b.
Really educational and the tours are brilliant. I went as a teacher with my class and they loved it. There were many facts to learn about the winfarm and the exhibition center was very entertaining.
c. m.
Lovely cafe and such nice staff
j. K.
Good walking and cycling paths. Interesting being up close to the Wind turbines. Excellent views!
E. M.
An amazing and stimulating place for both adults and children. The entire site is ideal for an easy walk out of the usual traffic. A remote place, but so close to Glasgow :)

S. S.
Great place to view close up wind turbines - as we only see them from roads, it really is a must.
D. W.
Absolutely brilliant coffee, good scones, reasonable prices and friendly staff. One small gripe, if you sit outside you have to go round to the main entrance to get back in????? Strange!
H. G.
Good day out with the grandkids,we walked to the first windturbine.really impressive close up,really quite,
It was a cold day so we walked back to the viewing cafe, for coffee and hot chocolate, very busy, the kids loved the
Interactive room at the back with the
Miniature turbines and how the electricity is produced. Callum and Lewis loved it. They said the hot chocolate was the best they had tasted.
G. H.
Thank you to all the team at Whitelee for hosting the dog walk tonight. Getting away from the fireworks made our cockapoo’s night!! Know you had more people than you expected but it made no difference, well organised great walk.
A.

Well done guys. Thank you for everything you're doing keep up the good work wind is going to be the future of the United Kingdom there is a big rush for electric cars at the moment, but what people don't realise is that we still using coal? And oil to generate the electricity for these electric cars what we need is more wind farms solar panels and Aqua if we had to really combat climate change. Thank you for everything you do guys. You Are Heroes in my eyes keep up the good work and long may it continue.

D. L.
Really informative visitor centre. Cafe was ok and not over priced. Nice routes to cycle through the wind farm.
k.
My second visit to the wind farm today , what an amazing experience , the impressive turbines churning up the air. Staff are so knowledgeable about not only the turbines and benefits of them but also the historic use of the peat bogs for fuel. Christine Mc Diarmid was a shining star for us as we were on a genealogy research break in the area. Christine was absolutely invaluable for filling in local history regarding the Covenanters, John Howie and the hidden caves.
There is a lovely coffee shop selling yummy goods and amazing views to boot. It was wonderful to see the school children on s trip enjoying the enthusiasm of the support staff too.
E. W.
It was very informative lovely coffee shop. Staff very helpful and very nice. Would recommend a trip there and see how things work. Will be back soon
