Reviews of Eastravel
Our week in Dubai was fantastic. Organised by Eastravel who were wonderful to work with and did a really great job. Was a seemless, helpful, friendly booking experience and I would highly recommend them for any trip you are thinking of undertaking around the World ....
Excellant holiday, all details arranged perfectly, we had 8 changes of location and hotels. Flights, hotels and transfers were all included as part of the package would have no hesitation in using them again and recommend them highly
We have used Eastravel for many holidays over the years and each one has been excellent, our latest trip to Canada being no exception. We rely on their local knowledge of each place we have visited, and they have never failed to provide us with anything other than a memorable holiday. The accommodation is always spot on, suggested trips and the overall itineraries are great because they take the time to build a personalised itinerary with you based on the things you like to see and do, tailored to suit your budget. I highly recommend them.
We have used Eastravel several times to book holidays. This year it was a more complicated process with several destinations involved. We spent a lot of time in the planning process with Eastravel suggesting all of the areas and hotels. We had a wonderful time, everywhere we went was lovely - all great hotels and the organisation of bookings, transfers and everything was seamless. Highly recommend using them, I certainly will for my next trip East!
We have been travelling with this company for a number of years now and have always found their service to be personal and reliable. The first trip we took with them was to Thailand and we were somewhat nervous as it was the first time we had travelled so far afield. We need not have worried as our personal itinery worked perfectly. We were amazed by the quality of the accommodation and service at a very reasonable price. We slept up a tree, rode through the rainforest on a elephant's back, went snorkeling and visited historic temples and the Burma railway. The next trip we took was to Malaysia and this proved to be the first of many visits, as we loved the country. Each time Eastravel arranged our own personal tours, visiting many different areas from cities, to beaches, from tea plantations to rainforests. Once again the standard of service and accommodation for the money is/was amazing! We are now spoilt and find that Europe does not quite match up! The biggest trip that Eastravel have arranged was an around - the - world nine and a half week journey including Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, US and Canada. With such a long journey and many different forms of transport ( plane, train, bus, camper van.) not to mention time zones, there were many potential pitfalls but everything worked perfectly and we had a wonderful time. We are now planning another trip to Malaysia to revisit out favourite places and in the future, hope to go to Costa Rica and that Eastravel will be able to guide us there too! If you do not want to follow the crowd and would like to take a holiday arranged especially for you, give them a try!
Having researched places to go and places to stay in Oman, I spoke to Eastravel who organised all the logistics of hotel, car and internal flight bookings. All bookings worked smoothly including pick ups and transfers. Had a fantastic time with a 4x4 car travelling around Northern Oman including deserts and mountain off road tracks. Many thanks to Eastravel who made it all so much easier. Strongly recommended.
A great experience and taking the stress out of organizing a multi flight holiday. The team at East Travel have a great depth of knowledge which proved really useful when preparing our itinerary, their ability to reserve flights whilst building the itinerary meant that we could fine tweak it moving dates and order of flights to suit our particular needs. The other great thing is that they use trusted local agents that provide local tours and transport, every aspect of our holiday went as planned. Once we had our holiday finalized the team were more than happy to answer all manner of queries, in short we had a holiday of a life time to Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore and it's success was down to the team at East Travel.
I had worked in Oman in the mid-1980s and had had a good time in the 3 years I spent out there. I broached the idea of taking Morag out there last year and having done some internet research of the various companies offering packages out there, decided upon Eastravel. The booking process was simple enough, we booked a self-drive tour and I found the exchanges I had via the phone and e-mail with Eastravel to be reassuringly personal - how many tour operators have YOU contacted where you have been able to speak to the same person each time who knows the details of the booking and of any changes which might be necessary. I would be more than happy to use Eastravel again in future.
Another great holiday organised by East Travel (who we returned to after booking a trip for us to Thailand a year ago. Cathy organised our tailor made holiday and her advice was great. We were on our honeymoon and away for 15 nights. First stop was Kuala Lumpar always wanted to go here and it didn't disapoint, great city to get around a great hotel in a great location. We stayed at the renaissance Hotel in the middle of the city and walking distance from the amazing Patronas towers. We arrived after a long flight to find out they had upgraded our room and made us a nice honeymoon cake. Taxi's are cheap and there are some great roof bars around the city to enjoy amazing city views.
Next stop was Bali which was a 3 hour flight away we arrived late afternoon and our next stop was a stay in Ubud in the forest. We arrived at the hotel Alila after the sun had set so we stayed at the hotel and had an amazing 7 course meal. This is one of the best hotels i have stayed in and the customer service was 6 star. We had a trip organised on a bike from the volcano down back to ubud which took around 3 hours and was all downhill back to the town. Our taxi driver also took us out one evening and we went to a ballinese dance show and a meal in Ubud. We also enjoyed the Spa facilities back at the hotel which were also amazing. After leaving ubud we stayed at Puri santrian hotel in Sanur. This backed onto the beach and if you get up early enough you can witness an amazing sunrise. Sanur is slightly more quiet than the west coast but it still has plenty of bars and amazing restaurants serving great food all night. we found a local bar called linga longa who had live music until 11.30pm then the band went onto accoustic sessions until 3am we had many late nights here and missed our breakfast on a few occasions. We had planned to go to turtle island but after ready some negative reviews on trip advisor we found a turtle conservation center run by volunteers and we were lucky enough to be able to release 2 turtles into the sea to begin their adventure. This was all done by donations 150000 indonesian money and this includes a certificate with your adoption details on it. Local blue taxis are very cheap getting around 5 minute journey would cost around 20000 (£1.10) british money. We had a trip tp the water park which was on the west coast called Water Bomb this was a brilliant day and not that cheap but the slides were some of the best i have ever been on. We flew back home with amazing memories and can't wait to return we fell in love with Bali.
We were returning customers after an amazing holiday in Thailand last year. When organising our honeymoon we went straight back to East travel to organise this trip too. Cathy was lead operator on our holiday and her advice was amazing for us she didn't let us down and her hotel recommendations were perfect.
We wanted to have a two centre holiday with Hong Kong as our city and Langkawi as the beach resort with specific hotels for each destination. We could not find a package so asked Eastravel to arrange the trip.
All arrangements for our family trip to Hong Kong and Malaysia were made accurately and just as we had asked. Transfers to and from airports were arranged by the operator and were carried out as planned by good providers. The price for the trip was the best out of three companies who quoted, two of whom were sector leaders.
We knew very little of the countries we intended to visit so relied solely on our adviser at East Coast Travel in Ipswich to put together an itinerary based around our stated preferences. We couldn't have wished for a better experience which enabled us to see all the major tourist and historic sights in Vietnam and then include our wishes of a visit to the River Kwai Bridge and culminating in a relaxing beach resort for our final few days. All tours and accommodation fully met our expectations.
I have used Eastravel for flight tickets to Thailand for nearly twenty years, they quote realistic not artificially low prices and I have found their their service to be excellent. Even in busy periods when the flights are"full" they have never failed to get us seats. I have been quite happy to recommend Eastravel to my friends and they have found the same level of service.
During early March 2016 my wife and I, and two friends flew to Cuba on holiday for 14 nights. The holiday was arranged by Eastravel Ltd, using Habana Holdings who supplied a concierge service whilst in Cuba. We spent the first 4 nights in Habana (Hotel Santa Isabel) followed by 2 nights in Vinales (Villa Noel), 2 nights in Playa Giron (Casa Ronel), 4 nights in Trinidad (Finca Kenia) returning to Habana for the remaining 2 nights (Hotel San Felipe y Santiago de Bejucal). We had the service of the Concierge David Ramirez Alvarez at all times, VIP Lounge services at Habana Airport, and all transfers both from and to the airport, and between destinations were made by private car for our party of 4. The accommodation, travel arrangements and itinerary whilst in Cuba was exceptional. The concierge had pre-planned and pre-booked where necessary the best restaurants in the areas visited. Eastravel made the whole holiday experience, to a country that unfortunately will change, something that we will not forget. Thank you. We were amazed that on 3 April 2016, The Mail on Sunday Travel supplement wrote an article that reflected our holiday experience to Cuba. I do not believe that it could have improved on the service offered and supplied by Eastravel Ltd in Ipswich.
We spent 3 weeks on a tour of peninsular Malaysia, giving us a range of experiences from visits KL, to Straits settlements of Malacca & Georgetown, the natural beauty of the Cameron Highlands (delightfully cool!) and Taman Negara (hot!) as well as some wonderful R & R on the East Coast. We 'self-drove' for most of the holiday and it was absolutely fine. A very enjoyable holiday - well done Eastravel.
I decided many years ago that I would love to go on Safari to shoot some wildlife, big game hunter me. So armed with my Canon for my 50th birthday I went in and out of Africa. Booking was made through East Travel (Ipswich) and they came up with a plan that should work, using Somak Safari.
My wife and I set off from LHR with Kenya Airways for the 8 hour direct flight to Nairobi. Kenya Airways are not the most polite or helpful and the food is dire, but hey, that’s not why we are going.
Nairobi was hotter than expected. We met up easily with our guide What a lovely man. We went first on a 4 hour drive to Aberdares County Club for an overnight. Colonial in its styling the staff were fabulous. Hot water bottles in the beds and a great room and food.
Yusef arrived on time and at 7 we were off, 4 more hours on the road to our first lodge proper. We were to stay in a tent for 2 nights in the wilds of Africa at Samburu. We did our first game drive that afternoon after a few hours by the pool. We saw animals, big animals, lots of them and close up too! Another great drive and we had 3 of the big 5 conquered. A pm drive and another great dinner ready for our 6.30 start.
Off we went to Serena Mountain Lodge. The staff were not good, the rooms tiny and the porter was very intimidating regarding a larger than normal tip! I would not book another Safari that included Serena as it is a waste of a day with rude staff.
Lake Nakuru crossing the Great Rift Valley enroute. After lunch we drove to Lake Naivash Then overnight in Naivasha Sopa Lodge. This really is a posh gaff and a half, with security to take you and collect you from your room in case of a stray hippo. In the morning you have Giraffe grazing on the trees in your back garden!!
On we go to the Mara, be very warned that there really is an end of the road! The tarmac just stops for no logical reason and you have 2 hours of a full body massage at 50mph! Trust me its worth it. 2 nights in an ensuite tent that truly is better than the last with your patio in complete privacy overlooking a family of Hippo!! Lunch on the second day was hilarious when, due to their noise, I said “Bloody Hippo”. Just think about the bizarre nature of the phrase and simply being able to utter it in truth. Anyway more safari, Cheetah stalking, saw a kill (2 Cheetah lunch on a Gazelle) more Lion, Elephant etc etc. On our last morning Yusef parked up and threw us out into the bush. He had only organised as a surprise, a bush breakfast, with our very own chef, waiter and game warden! How totally amazeballs!!
Now for a well earned rest and back to Nairobi, Precision Air to Zanzibar, yep the plane was precision, precisely 3 hours late and lost precisely half the luggage of all the passengers!! Ja Ja our taxi and guide recovered our bag by lunchtime!! Blue bay beach resort is a little out of the way, but its paradise on legs, reception staff bit grumpy, well they are inside all day, every one else is awesome, we were Jambo’d out! The Indian ocean is the most beautiful colour and the temperature of a warm bath 24/7 no exaggeration. The sand has the softest, whitest sand and the beach boys are not annoying if you can stand up to them (Hapana!) Take and pay for a tour of Stone town and Spice world, I promise on your own you will miss sooo much. It is dear but you get the works.
The above really truly is just a summary. This holiday was worth every single penny and so much more. Well done East Travel, Somak Safari and above all the animals and people of Kenya and Zanzibar and especially the wonderful Yusef and Ja Ja. Thankyou for a wonderful unforgettable 2 weeks and 1400 photos !!
PS we did arrive home on time but a bag lighter!!
Kwaheri.
We went on a self-drive to Oman with Eastravel. We contacted them as they had experience on self-drives in this area and lots of information on the website. From the first contact to the last, they were responsive, and had the knack of knowing what I may want. I mixed their suggestions with some days at the end that I had organised. On one day when I had a query, they were easy to contact. Their prices were also competitive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone booking a holiday.

Cathy at Eastravel prepared an excellent itinery for us including the accomodation, flights and transfers to our various destinations. The whole experience was very memorable and one that we are not likely to forget. We not only got to see the big 5 but much more besides. We had day trips, night trips, boat trips, jeep safari trips and light hiking. All were accompanied by very skilled and knowledgable rangers who went out of their way to satisfy everyones needs. The accomodation at all our destinations was excellent, with the staff very friendly and amicable. Well done Eastravel, we will be seeing you again soon.
I have used Eastravel since 1989 for both bespoke travel experiences or just flights for Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia, Borneo, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Maldives, India, Dubai and Oman. They have arranged my flights to Thailand in a couple of weeks too.
My family and I have 'bashed' wadis in Oman in 1996, spent time in a very different Dubai in 1991 to the one that exists now, caught a narrow gauge train from Chiayi in Taiwan up to Alishan to view the sea of clouds (with translation cards provided by Dorothy), seen Orangutans amongst other amazing wildlife from the Kinabatangan river in Borneo, enjoyed views of Mt Fuji from a bullet train in Japan, caught the train from Shanghai to Hong Kong and from KL to Bangkok amongst many other wonderful experiences all arranged with the help of the Eastravel team.
They have been and remain my go-to travel specialist and I would highly recommend them and do. My friends like me, have never been disappointed.
We travelled to SouthAfrca, Victoria Falls(Zimbabwe) and Dubai. We advised them about places we wanted to visit and they organised flights, hotels, cars, guides etc with superb efficiency with minute details.Everything went absolutely smoothly. We shall certainly recommend Eastravel to any traveller with complete confidence.
