Reviews of Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre
J. L.
Well worth a visit, the museum contains a brilliant display of WW2 aircraft including Spitfires, Hurricane, Dakota and the world famous Lancaster bomber.
The display can only be seen with a guide as it is set within a operational RAF base. The guide was very knowledgeable and told various fascinating stories about the history of each aircraft.
If you are lucky there might be a flight display of typhoon aircraft which take off on training runs on a regular basis. The best place to view this is in the plane spotters car park which is situated few hundred yards from entrance of the museum. Highly recommend
S. H.
Wow, what an experience. This place is a must see, value for money free parking and a tour that is just under a tenner you will not be disappointed. The visitor centre is well laid out, and the hanger tour is fantastic, last for over 90 minutes and the knowledge the guide has is amazing. Please support these guys and go and see, you will not be disappointed.

Arrived a lot early my mistake and the cause of my only negative comment, the cafe was closed!
The tour, the guide and the aircraft were and are Superb. The guide brought history and the technology to life.
Our visit was crowned by the return of the Lancaster fron Ireland, we heard her fly overhead, magnificent, we watched her taxi to the hanger and watched as the ground crew moved her into the hanger. We even got to chat with the pilot who came over to chat and answer questions.
A truly wonderful experience, and who cares about a cafe anyway?
C. B.
Great place to see these historic aircraft's. Tour guide was an ex fighter pilot and full of brilliant stories and his own experiences. Good little shop and cafe. Cafe lady was very cheerful and kind.
M. P.
Special heritage museum where the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is housed and maintained.
Our guide was a volunteer, and had such a depth of knowledge. It was a treat to listen to him.
The aircraft in the hanger included more than the expected Lancaster and Spitfire.
The cafe isn't anything to write home about, but the tour was excellent.
Many thanks 😎👍👍👍
C. F. W.
Excellent knowledge of the guide and up close view of the aeroplanes The Museum was small but informative. We had a tour of the hangar and saw the aircraft being repaired. We learnt a lot of interesting facts. We had to wait an hour for our tour but that wasn't a problem as we looked at the museum and we're lucky enough to see some Typhoon jets take off. You cannot buy tickets in advance in August so had to just turn up. It was busy but worth it.
L. P.
Brilliant tour with great information given by our guide. Gift shop and cafe good.. some impressive aircraft including the only flying Lancaster Bomber plus spitfires and hurricanes 👍👍👍
P. J.
Very friendly knowledgable guides. Such historic aircraft kept in immaculate flying condition. I don’t need to say any more. It has to be worth a visit for anyone just to see the aircraft up close you can’t not be moved.
j. t.
Amazing place to visit. Our guide Lou was brilliant and had a great knowledge of all the planes and their pilots. If you have not been you definitely should its awesome.
l. e.
Been wanting ro go here for years. Finally have today and glad we did. Has a really good tour from Ben, very knowledgeable and great at explaining the different variants of planes and got to see the Lancaster.
To top it off plenty of activity on the airfield with multiple take off and landings Dron the Eurofighter / typhoon
W. D.
We were staying local at tattershall and decided to see the BBMF at 'home' rather than the airshow circuit. Loved seeing the aircraft so close up and enjoyed thd tour which lasted around an hour and a half. Knowledgeable guides who were so enthusiastic in their delivery. There's parking opposite, a small cafe and gift shop within the main building you access for your tour. A really enjoyable few hours ☺️
L. C.
Fascinating tour around the hangar, our tour guide was full of stories about the aircraft and the pilots that flew them. Added bonus that the Typhoons were very active that day.
K. H.
Spent an afternoon being educated about all the planes in the BBMF. Tours seemed full so essential to book (though I understand there is no pre-booking in August, turn up 1st come 1st served). Our guide was most knowledgeable and patient with answering everyone's questions. As we arrived early we parked up on the spotters car park and were treated to Typhoons doing touch and go's and returning from their mornings flying. Combined with lunch at the local Blue Bell in a splendid day out.
A. C.
Awe inspiring, to see up close and personal the icons of WW2 is a must, the guided tour is absolutely worth doing. Watching the Typhoons taking off as well is really cool.
M. M.
Can't rate this enough. Awsome place with so much to see and do. Good parking. Clean and tidy and great staff and great value for money.
Definitely recommend a visit and check out the different shows they have on throughout the year. We went to the Landrover 4x4 show and has an amazing day.
g. h.
Absolutely amazing place, highly recommend visiting here. Very reasonable entrance fee.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, polite, answered our questions fully and even gave up some of his dinner hour to allow us to see the display typhoon, Anarchy 1, take off.
Very impressed with our tour and would definitely visit again.
R. P.
Amazing place. Tour of the BBMF hangar was so interesting and informative, would highly recommend to any aviation enthusiast. Booking in advance recommend. Tour lasts approximately 90mins. Our tour guide Alan was so interesting and it was a joy to see his passion for the aircraft and history of BBMF. Also you have an opportunity to see the Euro fighter Typhoon closer than usual during the tour which added yo the experience.
J. H.
Although I only popped by having watched the Lancaster on approach, BBMF is a historical gem. These are flying memorials to those who gave their lives for our futures. Each of the aircraft has a story to tell and the guides will help those heroic tales come to life. Lincolnshire is known as 'Bomber county' for good reason and the combination of serving RAF personnel, council funding and volunteers is worthy of a few hours to learn, absorb and be thankful.
I. L.
Love this place!
Joanne knew her stuff and made the tour really fun.
We thoroughly enjoyed it!
R. Y. W. S.
The airplanes are very impressive, our gids was amazing. Waiting time was terrible there were 3 groups that came later than us but they went in advance. I should ask to the museum to take.other times for groups.
d.
All I can say is wow, so happy there're places like this keeping British historical aircraft going. Aircraft and history we should never forget.
D. F.
A great visit to the Battle of Britain Memorial flight at Conningsby. So many great aircraft there, good to visit again.
p. d.
Excellent tour Geoff was very entertaining, small museum has some interesting things ,we got to see 4 spitfires and 2 chipmunks and a dc3 ,lots of history connected to the planes in the hanger ,tour took over,1hr ,only downside no place to get a hot drink
M. S.
Very interesting and we visited at a very busy time and the visits were well managed. The tour guide was very entertaining. Whilst I understand the hangar is a working environment the noise was excessive at times. Out of consideration for the visitors, who contribute a lot to the funds, could technician's not pick up their metal trays rather than kick them across the floor? And was it really necessary to have a radio blaring at high volume while tours were taking place?
N. M.
Brilliant place and fantastic staff. Knowledgeable and passionate about all the aircraft.
S. M.
Great few hours out. A guide took us through the aircraft in the hanger. A very knowledgeable, and professional guide who aimed his tour to our level of knowledge. We were lucky in seeing a Spitfire being given a check with engine at full throttle, and another Spitfire being taken for a spin by one of the few pilots able to fly this beautiful yet tricky machine. A great visit I would recommend to all levels of patrons.
R. B.
Amazing place (assuming you like WW2 planes). Great tour by very knowledgeable guide. Got to see couple of Spitfires up close and later in flight. Also home to the Typhoons
A. M.
Wonderful to see these old aircraft getting the attention they deserve. Very informative tour. Privileged to view them close up.
A. P.
Brilliant place, staff really friendly, very knowledgeable and there's a museum history area in the main building, the tours are abt one and a half hour's and you are taken by a curator/historian and told in detail about each plane. A real must see if you are into our History, everyone should learn what our happened in the time between 1939 and 1945, as its had such a Massive Impact on us as a Nation. Well done BBMF....
J. H.
To be stood in the presence of aircraft that flue over Britain in the war and Queens fly past is ore inspiring,
t. r.
Fantastic experience to see planes that actually flew in WW11 was an honour.
D. C.
Superb tour. Most knowledgeable guide, Gavin. Great story teller
J. D.
Excellent day out guide was very informative and could answer any questions
M. K.
Amazing watching a Lancaster doing a taxi run, the artefacts on show are excellent and the staff were all lovely, kids loved it
D. B.
Went to see Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane land. Awesome.
S. M.
We worth a visit if your interested in aviation, engineering, history and the RAF then this is the place for you. You must book a tour of the hangar to get the full benefit of the experience. Also has the bonus of being attached to a working RAF station. With a view car park just a few meters from the museum car park you can watch the RAF at work on weekdays. Typhoons stationed there at present.
J. B.
Great tour knowledgeable tour guide a delightful day and such lovely aircraft
D. S.
Fantastic tour, great guide and lovely to are the planes close up
A. H.
Interesting place with simple cafe attached. Didn't know much about the topic before. Paid about £10 for the tour, which lasted 1.5 hours and was very informative. The tours leave at fixed times, so suggest calling ahead and booking a spot.
S. B.
The Battle of Britain memorial flight put this special show on for their supporters club and Lancaster association. It's ticket only, and they go very quickly. My wife and I went today with two our grandchildren, both aged 5. We had a marvellous day in lovely weather. As ever a fantastically flown event with a great mixture of aircraft. The memorial aircraft, Hurricanes, Spitfires, the amazing Lancaster were joined by special guests, Mustang, a Griffon engined Spitfire and the RAF display Typhoon, absolutely awesome 👌 the displays were as imaginative as they were professionally flown. The bonus commentary was excellent and so informative.
The was much to see in the Hangar and outside, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
Our thanks to all of the teams and personnel who put on this great event, they were so cheerful and helpful.
I would thoroughly recommend you joining the BOBMF supporters or if you know someone who is and you like airshows, try and cadge a ticket these private airshows are a real treat, our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their visit.
M. R.
Anyone with an interest in the great heroes of the Battle of Britain needs to try to visit the BBMF. You are walking on hallowed ground next to these priceless icons of our country.
M. H.
Had a great visit, got to get close to the aircraft of the flight. You have a guide to take you around the hanger, which you pay a reasonable fee for, the tour is roughly 1 and a half hours long. Very informative, and when we were there we got to view part of a flying display by one of Coningsbys Typhoons.
D. P.
Fantastic place to visit & the guides are very knowledgable, well worth a visit 👍
D. C.
Worth the admission price for the tour .
Only fault was the guide had a very quiet voice and was drowned out by the jets taking off out side the hanger.tours must be booked in advance
k. b.
A spur of the moment booking, worth every penny, I adore planes, as does my 4 year old son ("the mini Controller" in the high vis), especially Spitfires, as they hold a special place in my family's hearts. our guide was a wonderful Gent, Ex-RAF Reg. himself, Who is very knowledgeable about the old girls in the hangar, and has a great sense of wit about him, he told us stories connected to the aircraft and how they came to be in production. I was happy to see with a lot of pride that they have a Spitfire built in the Shadow Factories in Castle Bromwich, where my Great Nanny worked during WWII (hence why they're so special to us). All the planes are well kept, are consistently maintained and have plenty of space to be manoeuvred within the Hangar. The engineers, mechanics, ground crew and pilots obviously take great pride in their birds, thank you for keeping our planes flight worthy to educate the coming generations just how important they were and still are and the people behind these amazing planes.
D. K.
Great experience. Loved the Spitfires and the Lancaster Bomber
R. H.
Wonderful guide through the aircraft hanger. We were lucky as we were able to join a tour (1 hrs 30 mins duration ) almost immediately and all the planes were in that day
Each was well described as to technology, comparison to later versions, and the enemies corresponding aircraft. Coupled to this they had various stories of bravery or indeed comic incidents to tell about pilots of the time.
The visit to an active air station in a working hangar so do not expect a free walkabout or seating areas. It is certainly worthwhile to see these historic aircraft, especially if you have any connections to that era or of course you are an aircraft enthusiast. Most suitable for adults perhaps not very young children.
Finally be prepared as your tour may be punctuated by pilots training in the Tornado jets based there. They're definitely lounder than you may think!
G.
The most important part (the WW2 aeroplanes ) is amazing. Brilliant guides tell wonderful stories. Lovely gift shop just wish the cafe had more on offer
L. G.
Absolutely fascinating guided tour of this hangar maintaining WW2 aircraft which still fly. Our tour guide made it so real telling us not just about the aircraft but also stories about the men who flew them. Many so young. Very young children would possibly get bored. It's situated on a RAF base and the noise of the occasional flight taking off was deafening.
G. S.
Great guided tours very knowledgeable guide really enjoyed
M. S.
Visitor centre is not open. There is a viewing area on the road adjacent to their hangar . We watched a Hurricane prepare and ready and taxi for departure. Wonderful and evocative. Well worth the journey to Coningsby. Check the BBMF website before the visit to ensure it is worthwhile.
G. B.
Brilliant visit. You have to pay for a guided tour but can't get in otherwise, very reasonable cost. Our guide John was superb, friendly and knowledgeable with a surprising last minute titbit.
S. M.
The trip round the museum was well informative. Marcus took us all round and was very knowledgeable. We actually saw the spitfire, hurricane and Lancaster take off. Fabulous.
A. P.
Excellent guided tour at a reasonable price.
T. m. L.
Our tour guide was brilliant, we learnt so much. Its always lovely to see the historic aircraft. But the tour guide made it extra special!:
N. H.
Fantastic experience. Knowledgeable guides
D. E.
A great insight into military aviation history in the 1940s. Great tour guides. Plenty of opportunities for taking pictures of historic aircraft
d. j.
Love this place tour guide very good
A. M.
Tey not to be to disappointed...to be up close was amazing check on line to see if they are open. The collection aren't always there ...and if you want a bonus to see the more modern planes don't do a Friday to Sunday as nothing is flying
W. E.
Brilliant tour the guide was very informative
M. P.
Outstanding. A hangar that is a genuine workspace with engineers working on six Spitfires, Hurricanes, one of only two airworthy Lancasters in the World and several others. I can’t recommend this enough. The guided tours are fabulous.
S. G.
Great place to visit. Very informative. There is a small museum here to start which is free but to see the planes you need to go on a guided tour in the RAF hanger which has a charge. The tour guide we had was very informative and knowlegable and happy to answer questions etc. On site there is a small cafe offering drinks and bites to eat. Worth a visit and last about 2 hours. Being on a working RAF base you can also plane spot the typhoons training.
S. M.
Two typhoons took off like rockets, great sight, easy parking further down dogdyke road, nice village stroll with great and friendly butcher
L. C.
It is a fabulous place. The knowledge of the guides and their passion is second to none. Seeing the aircraft up close is a joy and the stories of those represented is guaranteed to bring emotion. A must visit if you are in the area.
C. A.
In my opinion the Battle of Britain memorial flight tour is one of the best Aviation History museums in the country, there may only be a limited selection of aircraft (although up to 12 aircraft is no small number, especially when you consider that all are working pieces of history) however the layout is constantly changing meaning each time you go is a different experience! Often times there are people working on the aircraft which gives a very good insight into the intricate restoration of each of the warbirds on the tour. Finally, the tourgides are all incredibly knowledgeable and give very fascinating facts about each aircraft including their individual history. I'm sure there's a lot more that I missed, but I strongly recommend this tour if you have an interest in the subject matter
C. T. R.
A very interesting place to visit. The guided tour (which gives access to the hangars) is fascinating and a perfect opportunity to get photos of the Lancaster Bomber, Spitfires, Dakota and more.
I would maybe suggest the tour isn't so interesting for younger children as it is and hour and a half long, listening to the tour guide as they take you to each aircraft giving an insight into the history of each aircraft.
The museum is jam packed full of lots of information which is perfect to read as you wait for your tour to begin.
W. H.
Went for a tour today, our tour guide Julian was excellent, he was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the tour, it was really good to see these planes and learning about their capabilities and the part they played, the Lancaster bomber is an absolute beast I couldn't stop staring at her.
S. C.
Worth every penny! Right from the second you walk in the door of the visitor centre you are immersed in the BBMF. Great friendly staff and of course the best bit was the hangar tour.
Our guide Julian was so knowledgeable and really took the time to explain the events and the aircraft. He even showed an interest in our links as he remembered I had mentioned earlier my great uncle was shot down over Normandy in 1940 flying his Hurricane.
The tour usually takes approximately 1hr, but because there is so much to talk about, we got a good 1.5hrs in the hangar.
It's great to be so close up and personal with these icons of the sky away from the hustle and bustle of the airshow circuit, as it really gives you the chance to enjoy them.
The cafe is very quirky and very reminiscent of how things would have likely been of the BoB period.
After the tour we went a few hundred yards along the Conningsby perimeter fence to the public viewing carpark to watch the spitfire synchro pair practice for the coming airshow season (not part of the tour, just a great bonus being on the base).
A. C.
Fantastic and a free display from the Typhoon
R. H.
Had my own personal tour... Fantastic to see the work needed to keep these iconic planes flying. Also respect to the people who flew these great planes during the war. Thank You....
M. W.
Fantastic place to visit. Tour and tour guide were excellent. Be aware that you are not allowed to take bags into the actual BBMF hangar on the tour as the exhibition is located on an operational RAF base.
A. M.
By chance we managed to get in and we really enjoyed our visit. Such a lovely guide who showed the planes. Full of knowledge and told stories of those brave men and women. A proper gentleman.
K. S.
Great to go on a hangar tour and see these beautiful aircraft up close. If you're a BBMF supporter's club member you can go free as many times as you like each year. Always interesting to see the ground crews working on the aircraft.
During the flying season you can get some great photos from outside the fence, and the pilots/crew will sometimes come over to say hello as well.
C. H.
An enjoyable 90 minute tour with a very knowledgeable guide, will appeal to anyone interested in those WWII stalwarts of the BBMF
M. D.
Amazing to see the aircraft up close. Usual visitor experience keeps the visitors at a distance from the aircraft but still allows people to see the aircraft being maintained. Great experience for all aviation enthusiasts.
C. W.
Excellent guide. Surprising how much you don't know about WW2. Great to see the planes that helped win the war. Interesting museum and small cafe for drinks and snacks. Great value.
T. S.
It was a pleasure and a privilege to see the old girl again and the formation with the dakota, spitfires and hurricane was just amazing, Thank you so much Bbmf.
G. H.
Great opportunity to see the work of the RAFs Battle of Britain Memorial Flight up close and personal. Tours of the hangar explain the work of the engineers keeping these 70 year old aeroplanes airworthy, the Visitors Centre has a good range of displays and the tea room and shop are always worth a visit.
A. W.
British at the Battle of Britain Memorial hanger today but arrived there a little bit too late to have the tour around the hangers to see some of the aeroplanes and also some of the main aeroplane to out on displays today. I will be returning to have the tool to see various Planes like the Lancaster the Spitfires The Hurricanes within their collection.
Those of you that have not been they have a nice little Museum and gift shop. The staff were very helpful and kind.
E. R.
Good if you like your history and you're into aircraft
A. C.
The tour of the bbmf Hanger is one not to be missed if your in the area. The wealth of knowledge given by your tour guide and the historical significance is unparalleled.
Good cuppa in the cafe after and toilets if you need them. The shop was lacking stock when we visited, waiting new deliveries due to original suppliers going under during covid but was assured this is now imminent.
Would highly recommend a visit.
D. L.
Fantastic place, very informative, Lancaster was at Duxford though but still very enjoyable
H. C.
Fantastic place. Our history. Bert Bennett was our guide. Excellent.
M. R.
This memorial is well worth 5 stars, our tour guide was more than passionate and his knowledge was excellent, there wasn't anything that he couldn't answer, the Lancaster history he gave us was brilliant. Thank you for keeping these memories alive.
r. k. (.
Amazing place! Nice to see the fighter planes up close and the stories that go with them 👌 well worth a visit, nice little gift shop also 😀
W. B.
Fantastic museum. Your was amazing and very informative. Was def worth the visit to just see the beautiful Lancaster Bomber in all its glory ❤️
D. M.
We were taken around by Chris H. He made the tour more enjoyable.
We learned alot about the Spitfires, Hurricaine and Lancaster Bombers.
It was throughly enjoyable but Chris made the tour with his knowledge and humour.
Would highly recommend this tour.
It lasted approximately 1 1/2 hours.
S.
The guided tour is full of fantastic knowledge and history, is a must for any plane or history fan. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was easy to listen to , gain knowledge from
R. H.
Always worth stopping and paying your respects and learning about some history. The hanger tours take about 1.5hrs but are worth every minute.
A. D.
It was closed unfortunately as the boys all had a prior engagement in London...but we had a fabulous view of them leaving, complete with Lancaster and Spitfires, our own private fly past! Thanks, chaps!
D. B.
Excellent visit the only downside was the reduced number of planes on view, including the Lanc, due to display duties.
P. B.
Small museum about the history of the RAF in Lincolnshire with some interesting photos and exhibits about the men and aircraft that fought in the war. Entry to the museum is free. There is a charge for tours of the hangar where the BBMF is housed.
A. T.
Lots of world war 2 history here with the aircraft within BBMF. Its a pleasure to see them still flying. There are hot meals available not to far awa.
B. R.
Great tour, full of facts & history of the kites that live there. They all fly and that includes the last Lancaster we have in the UK that still gets into the air.
T. W.
Loved this visit, our tour guide was lovely, and it was great to see some of the planes up close xxx
A. C.
Interesting details in the visitor centre with guided tours of the BBMF hangar also available; souvenirs available along with light refreshments. Tours last 1.5 hours.
K. A.
Really nice few hours. The little museum is nice (not worth the entrance fee without the tour) but the tour of the hanger was top notch and excellant value for money. Really knowledgeable guides and fantastic views of the classic planes. Wheelchair accessible and fold up chairs available in the hanger for a rest if you need to. Can get booked up on the day so book at least the day before.
After your visit drive a little further up the road and stop in the car park for a fantastic view of the runway and typhoons taking off (they stop for lunch so try to time it to avoid then!).
l. b.
Amazing members day.
R. B.
Great tour some great info on the planes and some of the people who flew in them. Well worth it.👍
D. T.
Amazing place to visit we was escorted round by an ex RAF pilot with 44years fly under his belt. Great facts about the war and history of the planes. Great little cafe as well
L. K. M.
Enjoyable and informative, however not many aircrafts were available for viewing on the day..
P. F.
Excellent visitor attraction would throughly recommend it. Just phone ahead to ensure the aircraft are available as we missed the Lancaster due to servicing.
A. C.
Great place saw planes fly off overall great experience heard stories which are lost to time and all the stories abt the planes
J. S. L.
Brilliant place to go oozes historical presence well worth a visit. Our guide had a plethora of factual information , it was obvious he loved showing people round.
M. S.
Attended the members day today and really enjoyed it, I would recommend everyone to join the BBMF club
J. M.
Lots of interesting items in & around the museum & memorial flight hanger. The Lancaster was out and about so got a chance to chat with the crew. Aerial Display by a number of Eurofighter Typhoons too. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
A. G.
Fantastic to see the BBMF aircraft up close in their hanger. The guide was brilliant with great knowledge of the aircraft & their history.
J. K.
Always call if in Coningsby great place not been on tour yet but told that it's amazing in my bucket list
D. Q.
Well worth going for a visit. Our guide Tony, was excellent, with lots of interesting stories and facts about the planes.
d. l.
Great way to get up close to the BBMF aircraft. Staff were friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Don't forget to go and watch the Typhoons.
c.
Could be improved, it would be nice to be able to see inside the aircraft via an elevated walkway
W. W.
What can you say about a place which preserves the only spitfire to have flown, fought and survived the Battle of Britain? Got to be seen at least once in your life. If this place isn't on your bucket list there's something wrong with you.
M. C.
Excellent experience and marvellous guide Ben.
My son who is autistic and questions everything was well entertained and treat with respect and all his questions answered.
M. F.
nice small museum. the real gem here is the guided tour. very informative and not rushed at all. about 90 min in total with plenty of time for photos and questions
R. E.
Not a great deal to see (probably about half a dozen aircraft) but they were all worth the visit. Excellent value for money for a 60-75 minute tour. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
P. M.
Really good and a guide who knows his stuff great to sell the planes £9 wow very cheap, great day thanks.
P. M.
Definitely worth a visit. I’ve been several times and it just keeps getting better. The cafe is very good reasonable prices and friendly staff. The tour of the hangar is excellent a photographers dream. Up close and personal with spitfires hurricanes and the Lancaster.
M. C.
Epic very great visit. Robert was a great guide.
M. F.
A fantastic guided tour of some of the most iconic aircraft of the 2nd World War, with interesting stories and anecdotes
L. W.
I'm a huge aviation fan, so when we stayed at the near by Tattershall Lakes Holiday Park (5 min drive away) we took a run out to see the spitfire and hurricane take off to do a memorial flight over Westminster. It was well worth the trip to see the planes firing up and taking off.
S. H.
Great place to visit and see the heritage aircraft and hear the typhoon jets taking off next door
D. W.
Second visit more amazing each time love the devotion shown by all staff.
G. M.
That was the awesome sight as we walked into the hangar. Very informative guide, some great stories. You can't help but be aware of the sacrifices people made whilst also being impressed by the technological achievements of the time.
M. S.
Fantastic tour with great guide knowledgeable and with great stories from the past relating to the planes.
S. P.
The tour lasts about 60-90mins and the guide is very enthusiastic and very well informed. A very interesting tour
M. F.
Great place to see active WWii aircraft that still flies today along side modern fighter jets
P.
Very nice place, very moving. We'll maintained and has a brilliant view over Lincoln.
M. D.
Well worth a visit It is a very interesting tour and knowledgeable guide good value for money

Fantastic place to visit
R. S.
What's not to love, watching the typhoons and BBMF planes plus the museum, it's great to stop off just to watch through the fence if nothing else
D. M.
Very good tour with a very entertaining guide. Highly recommend.
H. C.
I need too many superlatives for this one. What can one say, history, magnificent aircraft and that wonderful noise when they start up. It's a fantastic place to visit, either just the Heritage Centre or spend some more time and book a guided tour of the hangar and get up close to the aircraft.
G. G.
Fascinating place to visit with so much history.
S. M.
Phil was a great guide he was very knowledgeable of all the planes in the hangar.
P. K.
Wonderful place, full of history and fanatic aircraft. The BBMF tour was exceptional, highly recommended 👍
r. b.
Not much action on the runways. Was told Friday is not a good day to view. But will be back mid week hopefully for better sightings
S. P.
Lovely guides very informative
B. r.
Amazing experience today the Lancaster was out and a Spitfire and Hurricane preparing for the Vera Lynn flypast. The pilots interact with the public and an added bonus the Typhoons are always taking off!
P. W.
This was worth a visit, very informative. Guide very good, can recommend.
G. D.
This was a must see stop on our tour. We had one of the last time slots for the day our guide was very good with his explanations. We got loads of pictures and yes I could use my phone in flight mode. We also saw the typhoons? I think thats what they were taking off before we went in. We got souvineers in the shop too.
A. B.
The visitor center of BBMF is highly recommended to anybody who interested for WWII or just aviation in general. Rare aircrafts and good stories from the guides. In the peak times (mostly summer ) might be some aircraft out of the hangar on flight displays elswhere but give a call to the visitor centre if you interested for a specific item they might be able to help you with it's whereabout.
The visitor centre has it's own gift shop and cafe area. Toilets are also available here and it's accessible for wheelchair users. The car park located on thr other side of the road and it's free to use. If you coming on weekdays to Coningsby you have a really good chance to see and hear the Typhoons practicing pretty much all day long. Have fun!
M. N.
Went there on the Lincolnshire Lancaster Association, members day. It was excellent.
R. S.
You are given an escorted tour into the hanger where the BBMF aircraft are kept and can be seen between sorties or being maintained. The guides are very knowledgeable laden with facts, historical accounts and anecdotes. Access to the aircraft is not allowed. There is a display of models, various artifacts and information boards in the visitor centre plus shop and cafe. Being essentially an RAF attraction it is well run and the professionalism of the technicians apparant.
N. F.
Was lucky to see the Lancaster outside it's hanger and engines running and taxi and take off. A spitfire went a short while.
J. C.
So interesting learning more about the project to preserve these historic and beautiful aircraft
B. S.
Very special visit today to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Dakota ZA947 with one of her former pilots. Lovely welcome from all staff, especially our guide Julian and Flt Lt Dyer. Many thanks to you all 😊
A. R.
Good to get there eventually. Good tour and guide, who was fresh into the job but did ok. Good views of Lancaster Dakota and Spitfires under maintenance. Shop and small museum but no coffee shop...
B. B.
Excellent staff, the only place you're going to get this close to aircraft like these.
M. T.
Pure magic. The skill, dedication and enthusiasm of these very lovely people is a joy to behold. Will definitely return.

Great place brilliant tour guide very interesting stories he told. Beautiful planes to look at aswell my daughter had a photo right next to the spitfire kinda jealous lol
M. M.
Do the hangar tour to get an insight of what goes on behind the scenes to keep these old planes in the sky. Fascinating!
S. L.
We went on the bbmf guided tour it was worth every penny. Our guide Terry was extremely knowledgeable and skipped nothing he knew pilots names and where they were from made the tour very interesting. It wasn't just this is a spitfire this is a hurricane he told us which battles the plane were in and service history. I recomend this tour to anyone . Go and enjoy
To our guide Terry thank you for the tour your knowledge and how you brought the history of these planes to life was amazing.
a. R.
Had a fantastic tour around the hanger
Great tour guide
n. w.
Absolutely fantastic, we had a old ww2 veteran take us round the hanger. He was actually there for D day.
M. M.
Well worth a visit, very interesting tour
J. C.
We called inside the visitors centre and the staff were very helpful, I was asked if we were going on tour around the hangers, I said no. Unfortunately you just can't turn up you need to book online and at least 2wks before your visit because you have to go through security checks first.
We were told if we went down to the viewing point around midday aircraft would be taking off, we certainly were not disappointed and its well worth a visit, next we'll make sure we've booked online first.
s. m.
Excellent place excellent tour espically meeting a tour guide who has flown the vulcan
k. t.
Really interesting and knowledgeable guide. Those jets are extremely noisy!
L. H.
Well worth a visit to hear the stories behind each plane in the hangar. Tour takes around 1hr and 30 minutes ending outside talking through the bombs the Lancaster would have carried.
L. O.
Great, loved it. Tour guide full of knowledge
R. F.
A privilege to get up close to beautiful and historic aircraft, from the days when this country was great ! A fitting and constant memorial to those who served.
Big thank you to the guides for their input.
B. R.
Always something to see. Lots of interesting for children and memories for the elderly
T. B.
The Battle Of Britain flight is housed in this hanger- the public are allowed to visit - it's on RAF Coningsby the home of the Typhoon fighters which you can see their activity further down the road at close quarters- the hanger tour is very Good the young lady that took us round was not an aircraft enthusiast but was very knowledgeable of the aircraft but it was the stories of bravery and heroism attached with the aircraft in there -- at the time of my visit there was the Dakota the Lancaster a Hurricane Several Spitfires and one of the Chipmunks --the tour lasts about 1+1/2 hours - it's very informative and well worth a visit - close up -- you can photos aswell the cafe was closed at the time due to Covid but there was light refreshments soft drinks that could be bought in the museum shop and for £9 adults £8 concession I found it good value
B. H.
The whole family enjoyed from 8yearold granddaughter to 70 years old grandparents
C. W.
Excellent guided tour of the BBMF hanger with a very knowledgeable guide.
P. S.
Excellent museum well worth a long visit
A. C.
If you are into WW2 then this is a must see. Best to visit during the colder months for a hangar tour as all the aircraft will be there. Remember, this is an active RAF base so movement is limited.
L. P.
Living history, a fitting tribute to the bravest generation. Lest we forget.
P. J.
Well worth the visit, great to see these beautiful planes being looked after and preserved
M. M.
Whatever you do don't take a bag in with you as they won't let it in. They decline to search it or let you leave it at the entrance. Great to see the planes in the hanger while being worked on.
S. N.
A superb visitor centre with the added benefit of being able to see the fabulous BBMF aircraft in the adjoining hangar. If you choose a summer day to visit you might also see the vintage aircraft flying, and if not there is always the modern Typhoon jets to marvel at as they undergo their daily missions.
G. C.
Very interesting & detailed info on World War Two aircraft.
N. D.
If this is your interest or hobby it's well worth a visit.
g. g.
A well organised machine with a great and informative tour of the hanger. Russ the tour guide was great too.

Superb anyone with an interest in history must visit.
N. T.
Great to see the planes receiving their winter maintenance.
D.
the hanger tour was fantastic...We had a real character. take us round..
URGENT ...ignore the online booking site ..it said no availability for the week we were in the area ..We called in for a look and was told there was plenty of availability ..we got a tour within 35 mins ...Don't miss it !!!
L. S.
Timed it right, we were just driving by and spotted the Spitfires and the Hurricane being readied for flying later.
M. W.
Stunning place the aircraft are amazing. Staff very helpful
P. F.
This where RAF maintain and service the, spitfires, hurricanes and Lancaster, plus other vintage aeroplanes. You get a guided tour of the hanger and see which ever planes are at home up close under maintenance.
D. B.
Fantastic experience with very informative guides... sooo many Spitfires!
C. W.
Only went to the shop, but it was great. The staff were really friendly and helpful, my wife became a member to BBMF. My wife 💓 has connections to the RAF, & I'm a veteran, so it is always a honour to visit.
G. C.
Brilliant and very informative, the Lancaster was massive up close
s. g.
Shame some planes were at a show but still good visit
S. C.
Iconic aircraft. Tour by highly knowledgeable guides
S. H.
Very informative and interesting museum. Not the biggest, but made up for by the knowledge and enthusiasm of our guide Roger, and also great value for money, especially with the family ticket. Great to see the actual BBMF aircraft up close, and the added bonus(?) of the Typhoons going up and down if you're there at the right time. Recommended.
S. B.
Great place to see the typhoons, spitfires and the Lancaster my boys love it here 😍
M. H.
Nice to see these old birds close up.
J. S.
Great place to visit. Loved the Lancaster
C. A.
Well worth going to see, we saw the BBMF flying at the weekend. Not sure if, because of Covid-19 the centre is open to the public. Check first before going specially to visit, although if they are flying you can watch from them the public viewing area without going into the centre.
K. E.
Great place to visit! So much history in one place!
The tour is fantastic! So many stories attached to the aircraft that your looking at, which makes it more than just an aircraft! The hour went so fast!
Staff are lovely and friendly and make you feel so welcome. The tea room is reasonably priced too and the gift shop has lots of stuff to suit all ages.
Good car park too situated over the road.
Definatley recommend visiting here.
P. M.
Just popped over on a chance visit as we where in the area. Wow the lanc came out to play. Engine run-up. Awesome
E. A.
We had a lovely battle of Britain tour. The guys who work there were so kind and helpful. They explained so much about the aircraft and the battles, it really brought the times back to life.
R. C.
Fabulous visit thanks to Tour Guide Gavin Smith for insight and enthusiasm well worth a visit to see the flight close up and learn a lot about the aircraft
J. S.
Excellent visit. Stuart was a great guide with lots of interesting statues to tell.
m. H.
Absolutely superb experience very friendly staff very knowledgeable and helpful in answering question
G. J.
A great experience with a very knowledgeable guide
D. B.
Took grandson who loves planes absolutely enjoyed it very educational plus we had the pleasure of seeing loads of typhoons flying in and out all day weather lovely and sunny went and parked in viewing point got a lovely sun burn yes really enjoyed the experience
N. A.
Incredible place and great tour.
G. C.
Fantastic a must see visit tour great and guide excellent and very nolagible
W. S.
A fantastic place to visit for kids and adults alike. What's not to like about admiring the stunning WWII era Spitfires, Hurricane and Lancaster. There's plenty of other artefacts to see and history to hear about from very well informed tour guides. They also have different aircraft in the hangar from time to time so always something new to see.
A. J.
Bit disappointed really. Lots of lovely planes in the hanger but you only got a back end view of most of them except the WW2 Typhoon, I was expecting to at least get a walk down the centre of the hanger. I appreciate they are in a 'working hanger' but there wasn't much work happening and segregation could easily be achieved. Most people would go there for photos of iconic aircraft from the front and distinctive shapes/angles etc.
The tour takes about 1.5 hours but ours took 2 hours because our guide seemed to waffle on about useless information, people were literally starting to flag and wilt standing for that long. He took that long the second group caught up with us and had to mill about whilst he told us yet another long winded story. He couldn't tell us about the aircraft markings as he wasn't interested in that, sorry feller but lots of people are interested in what the markings on the Lancaster indicated or when and why certain Spitfire/Hurricane paint jobs were used. The tour more was more about warfare and WW2 so we were told, but it was hardly mentioned and definitely not what sorties these aircraft may have been involved in. He did come out with some good facts but to be honest these I've forgotten those amidst the loads of trivia that was included
The day before the Lancaster was out and people were able to go out for photos etc. I was outside the fence. But on my visit there was nothing outside, surely one plane per day, weather dependent, can go outside?
Don't take a bag because you cannot take it in with and ridiculously there is nowhere to leave it.
Great to see these amazing planes. But honestly, it could have been better
J. G.
Love the old aircraft and a good guide to help you understand the old aircraft that's there
B. H.
Amazing experience and well worth the money. The guide was very knowledgeable. It was fantastic to see the Lancaster and other BBMF planes.
K. H.
This was the most informative and interesting place I have been to for a long while
S. S.
Great place to vist well worth it top day
S. C.
Excellent day out. Very informative. Brilliant tour guide. Highly recommended!
R. A.
Stories of brave people behind the planes...and then the aircraft themselves. What a collection.
R. B.
If you like old military aircraft, this is a must visit place. Maybe it's not fully hands on and as polished as some other visitor attractions but if all the aircraft are there (not off on displays), you'll love it. In the winter they get ripped apart for servicing, so pick your visit day carefully.
D. W.
Got to see 2 spitfires parked up, then started up and taxi to runway. Pilots gave salute to small crowd watching. Closest I've been to one of these aircraft albeit through wire mesh security fence. A few hundred metres down same road is a parking area near runway. These flights are often posted online somewhere but just happened to be in right place at right time.
J. A.
As an RAF fanatic this is the place to be, nostalgia at every turn.
B. W.
Amazing.
Seeing how the planes are maintained, the tour is great too.
If the pilots are around they come over to talk and answer questions.
Really enjoyed it. The viewing carpark is good to pass a hour Typhoon's are frequently . It's just great
D. F.
Absolutely brilliant place to visit. The guides were absolutely superb telling some really good stories about the individual aircraft. Really great to get so close to such historical aircraft. Would recommend to anyone.
M.
Just absolute heaven. Love the iconic aircraft in the display but none more than the Lancaster. And to be in touching distance but not able to climb aboard was torture. The team that keeps not only the center open but these symbols of British history in the air deserve a lot more recognition than they get. I could go on and on about it but go see for yourselves. Beautiful.
B. R.
Highly recommend booking a visit. Very knowledgeable friendly guide and great collection of airworthy WW2 Aircraft on show.
G. C.
What a brilliant place to visit and Colin the tour guide was full of anecedotes stories of the unbelievable exploits of these young airmen who we will always be grateful to.
I. B.
Awesome aircraft great atmosphere very nostalgic nice people and very knowledgeable. Takes you back to when Britain was great , with our backbone morals principles values standards and etiquette! Which have all ebbed away as l bare witness to the vandalism of Churchills monument, and the countty does nothing.
S. C.
I really enjoyed my guided tour today. Our guide was friendly, knowledgable and engaging, how he remembered all the information I can't imagine. Some great stories and wonderful aircraft.
K. S.
What a fantastic place to see close up these wonderful aeroplanes. I was lucky enough to be the only person on the guided tour, the chap showing me round knew everything there was to know about the history of the planes, and was full of stories and facts. Seeing them being maintained was a privilege. Thank you!
W. W.
Very good tour well worth the small charge and great to see and be close to such iconic aircraft.
k. e.
Saw the hurrican. Spitfire. And lancaster. Start up...taxi...and take off from here today 6.5.2018.
M. F.
I was really looking forward to my visit today, but was dissapointed to find out that no bags are allowed into the hanger on the guided tour.
On arriving at the visitor centre the souvenir shop looked well stocked and prepared and was met by friendly staff as I went to pay for a guided tour.
I was not aware of the "no bags allowed" rule which I totally understand, but as I had walked to the visitor there was no where to put my bag and had to miss the hanger tour which I was very much looking forward to.
Just thought I would make other visitors aware before they find themselves in the same situation. If you visit by car then bags can be kept in the boot.
This will not stop me visiting again as it's an excellent tourist attraction.
P. W. (.
Really enjoyed our tour of the hangar and saw a dakota, spitfire and hurricane. Outside was the splendid Lancaster. Also the top guns were flying this morning. Great show of the Memorial flight and the latest planes.
M. D. V. E.
Good displays and guides, but expensive.
c. c.
This is a great museum of living history right on the edge of and active RAF base. The planes on display are all signally painted with the cold used for Campaigns their type took part in. The for guides are very knowledgeable and happy to questions.
J. R.
Lots to see Spitfires, Hurricanes and the Lanchaster bomber
D. T.
It has been a long time since we last visited Lincolnshire and we returned to rekindle our interest in aviation. Our visit to the BBMF was a highlight. A tour of the hangar in a relatively small group was very enlightening and tremendous value for money. It was made all the more interesting when the history of each plane was explained linked to the pilots who flew them and the anecdotal comments of the tour guide. We didn't have time to go round the museum so we are returning to complete our visit, a day later.
J. F.
Nice to see the old planes and to days one to
A. M.
Very interesting & informative visit.
M. B.
History
P. H.
Well worth a visit. Last airworthy Lancaster in existence as well as Spitfires and Hurricanes. I'm not normally too interested in this sort of thing but my wife and I were really impressed with the museum, which was well presented and you should spend some time in before or after the tour around the huge hangar. If you're lucky you'll get Karl "Streaky" Bacon as a guide. A lovely man with a fund of stories to relate.
D. S.
Beautiful aircraft Great to look round, always a different story being told by the guides great little shop and museum area. Cafe is very nice. Large parking area. Benefits from being on a live base having good viewing areas.
K. G.
Brilliant history 👏 Seen The Lancaster from the war. We worth a visit.
M. S.
Great day out even after travelling nearly 3 hours to get there. Fully worth it, staff where welcoming and happy to chat to all.
L. M.
Knowledgeable staff and rare aircraft. What more do you want
T. H.
Amazing day, went to the members day at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, based at RAF Coningsby. An excellent day with all planes flying
D. M.
Had the pleasure of visiting the Memorial Flight Visitor centre with friends whilst on holiday and it was a fantastic tour of aircraft that can & still do fly today.
The tour guide’s knowledge was unbelievable on the history of the aircraft & who flew them where & when.
Would highly recommend a tour.
m. b.
Looked impressive but arrived 10 mins before the last tour of the day at 3.30 and then joined a tour of knowledgeable enthusiasts who slowed the guide down so much that we never got to the Lancaster! Very disappointing. Moral is - get there no later than midday.
S. R.
Very interesting guided tour. Neat to see actual Spitfires, Hurricanes & one of only two Lancaster that still can fly. An aviation nuts dream.
m. w.
It's a must fantastic day out.
R. E.
For plane and history buffs this is heaven! This is a guided tour of the operational hangers containing working planes including the Spitfire, Hurricane, DC3 and Lancaster. You cannot take a bag into the hanger, nor can you use your own disability scooter - they provide wheelchairs. 1 1/2 hours is a long time to stand and walk so be prepared. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and added interesting back stories to the planes on display. Also a small cafe on site. Medioca coffee but they did have nibbles that were gluten and dairy free.
J. R.
Great day we'll worth a visit
S. W.
Very informative guide, really interesting tour. Was also lucky enough to the the Dakota and a spitfire take off. It's also great to watch the typhoons taking off too. Well worth a visit.
A. P.
Great place ,very informative and extremely interesting, was cool to see all the engineers actually working on some of the planes and to be able to see a great part of British history. Would recommend highly to anyone with an interest in aviation ,history or the RAF .
P. C.
Excellent afternoon. Guide Russ was super. Real treat to see the battle of Britain planes in flight.
C. G.
Massuce collection of Valuable information about RAF....
T. B.
What can I say, having spent the last 17 years taking visitors around the iconic aircraft based there in the BBMF hangar. It is a wonderful place to visit & why visitors keep coming back.
I. S.
After wanted to visit for some time finally got around to it today. If you visit make sure you book a tour, there is a small charge for this but worth every penny. The guides are great with a far bit of knowledge and some good stories to tell.
M. D.
great tour around the hanger guide was very knowledgeabl about the aircraft museum could be bigger but it's still a working airbase so space is limited would go back but in the summer when the aircraft are in flying condition not doing winter maintenance
A. T.
Get close to some legends. This includes the volunteers who will make your visit absolutely brilliant.
If you really want to see these ladies with their skirts lifted. Visit out of display season. You'll see them in ALL their glory.
Dakota, Hurricane, Spitfire, Lancaster. They're all here under one roof. Lovingly looked after by the ground crew and expertly flown by the aircrew.
Spend a few hours and don't try to emulate slim pickens by sitting on the bomb
G.
Excellent walk through the hanger. Lots of aircraft, Hurricanes and Spitfires and of course the Lancaster bomber. Very well presented by an informative and interesting guide with anecdotes.
R. R.
Well worth a visit. The guide was very good and did'nt rush. Was very pleasant to talk to. A really wonderful place. Totol admiration to all the staff and their dedication to keep these beautiful aircraft flying.
J. G.
One of the best experiences iv had. Amazing place with amazing aircraft with a very detailed in depth tour of the hanger and its aircraft and the history of the planes and the country.
M. N.
Is good needs to be a bit bigger though nice area good cafe
D. B.
Whilst we were unable to fully look around the planes due to social distancing, the hangar tour was very informative and interesting plus all the aircraft were in at the time.
J. D.
A great informative tour giving the history of the planes in the hangar.
I. K.
Well worth a visit. Great value.
The visitors centre has a mini museum as you enter, which gives you lots of information about the people, equipment, stories and aircraft used in the Battle of Britain.
The gift shop has lots of stuff for everyone's tastes of gifts.
The cafe/tearooms are very reasonably priced and a step back into the 1940's. Even the staff in there are dressed in period attire.
The hanger tour is a must if you go there. Very knowledgeable guides, most of whom are ex-RAF. A chance to see some great legends up very close and listen to the history and stories of each one of the aircrafts on display. Also lots of stories about the hero's that flew in them. So incredibly brave people.
Worth checking which aircraft will be there on your day of your visit as some may be absent depending on the display season commitments.
Then if you turn right out of the car park, just around the left bend there is a car park/viewing area where you can see the planes taking off/landing which include the Typhoons and Tornados.
W. D. B.
Amasing history, well worth a visit.
B. C.
Inspiring story of the brave young men and women who kept our country free in the darkest days of WW2
A. L.
Amazing place. Unbeatable.
a. l.
Amazing display, very informative guide. Such iconic planes, so much of our history here. As my father piloted a Lanc (P for Peter) in WW2, it meant so much to me, but sadly my ambition of sitting in the cockpit and thinking of my father, due to security, of course, was not possible. Very moving experience for me and our group of ex RAF and wives. Would have been fantastic to actually briefly walk around the aircraft, but in spite of explaining about my father, also an ex Stalug Luft 3 POW (RAAF), not allowed. Consequently only really got back and side views. But a fantastic experience!
D. M.
Not what I expected but the tour guide was good. I didn't realize you could not wander about as you do in a normal place. It is however an operational base, therefore the security was tight but inoffensive like an airport. This place is worth a visit, but not everyone's cup of tea.
M. E.
Highly recommend a visit although you need to carefully plan to ensure that the aircraft will be on site and not out on a display. The guided tours are excellent with some really knowledgeable people.
1.
Good tour around the hangar from a passionate and knowledgeable volunteer. Only downside was that the Lancaster was away at the time which was unfortunate.
T. H.
Plenty of historic aircraft in one place, normally viewed from the other side of the fence, but the public are allowed a visit once a year inside the compound of RAF Conningsby. Sadly, the wind and eventually the rain put a stop to any displays planned, but it was still a pleasant day out.
S. T.
What's not to like..Chipmunks, Spitfires, Hurricane, Dakota & Lancaster.
Flying or not, just the sight, nostalgia and history of these cared for beauties is enough.
However the reason for their preservation is Remembrance as defined by the their motto.....
" Lest We Forget "
A. W.
Reat place to visit
D. H.
This is the place to see the Lancaster! Your guide will tell you about all the Battle of Britain aircraft on display. There is a good photographic display to view whilst waiting for your tour to start.
L. S.
All round fantastic experience. All the iconic planes that helped defend the nation during the second world war, are here on display.Guides are very infornative and friendly. Memorable day out for sure.
D. W.

P. N.
Very interesting especially so when runways are active
D.
Wanted to go here for so long and finally managed it. Loved every minute, got an excellent guide who knew his stuff he even went on for a good 20 minutes over. Going back when the little one is older to show him a part of our history
B. G.
A fantastic place to visit, take the tour to the hanger and see the BBMF flight under maintenance. The tour guides are really informative.
A must visit if in Coningsby or Lincolnshire to see these beautiful vintage aircraft that are lovingly looked after by a dedicated team of RAF technicians.
Check out the Tallboy and Grand Slam bombs designed by Barnes Wallis also in the museum grounds.
N. H.
Good place received a guided tour was very interesting.
B. W.
Nice heritage centre. Not so sure about paying over £8 for a tour.
Better to look from the outside in good weather and you can see lots of typhoons taking to the air and landing...
c.
Great place of your a fan of raf and ww2 you have to visit it at least once in your life
A. B.
Only went to have a look which was just as well as the plane were leaving for a display so would not have been able to go in. But we did see two typhoons take off by way of consolation.
P. M.
Unique experience to be able to get this close to the BBMF aircraft and see them being maintained. The knowledgeable and engaging guides tell the history of the individual aircraft and their roles during WW2. Marvellous experience

Great place to visit and to see the names of all who gave their lives in order that we can live in a free country. Great guided tour of Spire and its surroundings and an educational self guided tour inside all about WW2, etc.
I. R.
A must visit free to go and look in the shop and cafe and then you can visit the hanger(charge for this )takes about a hour to go round see the aircraft and listen and learn about them and after you leave you have the bonus of as it is based at a active airfield you can go and watch modern day jets landing and taking off and with a bit of look may see one of the bbmf planes practicing
J. B.
What a great place. All planes at home at end of season. Free entry. Hanger tour brilliant. Money well spent. Good shop.

Sadly lost interest in my guide's narration when he started getting key facts wrong. Quoted production figures of Hurricanes and Spitfires "during the Battle of Britain" which were in fact during the entire war. Stated that the collections MK5 Spitfire was a Battle of Britain veteran, (They were not brought into service 'till 1941). Quoted things like, "Doesn't matter if it was a Spitfire, Lysander or Lancaster, they all won the Battle of Britain". Lancasters didn't take part in the Battle of Britain whatsoever, clearly he did not consider the Battle of Britain to be the summer of 1940 and was using the title for the war on a whole? For the layman these things may not matter, but to me they do, especially somewhere so prestigious, you'd think they'd have their knowledge right. All in it was good to get up close to the aircraft.

Good value for money day out. Especially if the battle of Britain flight out of the hanger. (can be seen from the road)

We visited recently and it was a most enjoyable and memorable experience . The guide was wonderful and the planes fantastic. One of the best visitor attractions in the country.

Lovely to see these old planes soooooo close. Tour guide did a fabulous job, entertaining and informative, brought the history alive

Keeping History and Heritage alive at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby. All around this area are former bomber airfields like Woodhall Spa and the 617 Squadron Memorial is just 4 miles further on from here. Keeping our history, heritage and aviation alive is very important. On this visit there were jets from the German Airforce. My personal score is 10/10.
