We used British Tours for a day trip during our layover at Heathrow airport. Our guide picked us up at the hotel (where went to freshen up after the overnight flight) - the van was very comfortable for the 4 of us plus the guide and all our luggage. We traveled first to Windsor and then to Oxford. We had a delightful time. Our guide was informative and interesting. He was flexible and kept our interests in mind as we visited these cities.
He knew the ins and outs of finding the best picture spots, lunch and tea spots, and very importantly - where to park! The weather was beautiful and the tour was wonderful. We were able to arrange everything with ease via email. We're so glad we used British Tours! We recommend them highly and will be calling on them again the next time we're in the UK.

We booked the private plane Normandy Beaches Tour from London in 2018 because we were time poor but also because the tour started when you were in the air above the beaches. Our first two dates were cancelled because of bad weather, but third time lucky five of us were able to make the trip. On a gorgeous sunny day we took off to France for the day (for a group of Australians this alone was a novelty!). Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and the tour was everything we hoped it would be. We still talk about what a fabulous time we had and how lucky we were to have been able to do it.

In June 2018, we booked a private day-trip tour through British Tours. Our British Tour guide Marie Claire picked us up from our room in Paris and drove us to visit the D-Day battlefields in Normandy. She took great care of us, entertaining us with history and stories all along the way and providing a wonderful stress-free private tour of this amazing region. At the end of a long day, she returned us to our front door. In a vacation filled with many sights, this was a highlight and well worth it. I highly recommend British Tours, especially for private day trips.

We had only one day in London with so much to see. British Tours arranged the perfect guide for our interests and our tour was exceptional in every way. It was worth every penny (schilling). We saw so much yet felt as if we had time to see what we were viewing. We have recommended their services to friends, and would not hesitate to again use their services the next time we are in their touring areas.

I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience (pre-pandemic) with British Tours. Every step of the process, from booking to tour completion, was absolutely seamless. I contacted the company via email from the US and received very fast and informative responses (Giulia and Aline were both extremely helpful). I was able to set up a custom tour of Bath and the Cotswolds for a fairly large group (11 people, ranging in age from 4 to 60), and there was so much to see and do that everyone had an enjoyable experience. We were collected and dropped off at our hotel in London and it was incredibly convenient. Alex, our tour guide, was fantastic! He was a wealth of information and so fun to talk with throughout the day. He was great about keeping us to a schedule without us feeling rushed, and our whole group was pleased with all the sites we were able to see. Overall, it was a perfect day and I wouldn't hesitate to book with British Tours again!

As a hotel concierge for a global hospitality company, I am rather particular about selecting touring companies for both myself, and my guests. Coming across British Tours, is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack. I corresponded with their lovely team via email and telephone, & my messages were always promptly returned, which is absolutely key for me. I finally settled on Hampton Court Palace from an unending list of options, & with Anthony as guide, I proceeded to have one of the loveliest days I have spent in the UK. Anthony is exceptionally charming, beyond knowledgeable, and could not have been a better travel companion. We drove out to the Palace from Central London, with Anthony describing points of interest along the way, as well as providing amusing little tidbits, on a variety of London topics. On our return to town, Anthony suggested an alternate route, so that I could have a different perspective. With so many tour options available in the UK, British Tours truly stands above the rest, an absolute 10/10.

Had the Best day with Richard!! He was very friendly, funny and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable. We did both walking and driving. City very crowded as it was New Year’s Eve however Richard managed to navigate the city perfectly so we could see as much as possible in the only day we had in London.
As for booking in advance from overseas, could not have gone smoother. The correspondence was quick and concise!!
I would Highly recommend using British Tours and will use them again myself."

My son and I visited London in June 2018 and booked two, one-day private tours with British Tours. Our guide, Nigel, couldn't have been more perfect. We decided he was the David Attenborough of British tour guides! In two days, we covered a lot of ground, but didn't feel at all rushed or that he was bored with us. He was so excited for us to experience as much of his culture and history as he could show us. Also, booking was pretty easy and communication with the office was always inciteful, honest and professional. Great tour company! I definitely recommend British Tours and would use them again.

Absolutely amazing tour company. We have used them on four trips to Britain and France over 10 years. Each and every time super professional, amazing tour guides that really let us do what we wanted, very kind, and overall a blast! We went to the best local croissant bakery in Paris, to an inside tour of the Tower of London, to the Cotswalds and Bath, to Windsor, to Harry Potter sites. We did all this starting when the kids were from 2 to 8 years old all the way until they were 11 to 17. Last time we included my parents and they loved it! Beyond worth it! Can’t wait to get back again!

My family had an absolutely fantastic tour with Andrew of British Tours—it was the highlight of our stay in London. Andrew was really fun to spend time with. He was extremely knowledgeable about London and made a special effort to keep our 10-year-old child engaged.
Andrew was well worth it, and we highly recommend him!

We loved our residential tour with Richard. I have limited mobility and the car was lovely, and he took good care of me. He took us to places we never would have thought of. He went out of his way to take us to places with great photo opportunities like the beautiful canal. We got the most gorgeous photos of the river with the boats anchored on either side.
I can’t wait to do more tours with British Tours and Richard. I can’t say enough good about them!

We did three day trips with British Tours (pre-pandemic) in late December/early January to Salisbury/Bath, Windsor/Oxford, and Blenheim/Cotswolds/Stratford. The private tour option is expensive but we felt worth it if you really want to optimize your time, especially in the winter when it gets dark so early. Pick-up and drop-off is right at your hotel. The office person Giulia was very helpful working with us in advance to keep the itinerary realistic for the amount of daylight and customizing the trip to our interests. Earlier in our trip, we did a group coach tour to Canterbury/Leeds/Dover booked through Viator, and while we enjoyed that, definitely felt the time was used less efficiently, spending too much time in some spots and too little in others. As for our guide Sam, he was great! I was a little nervous about spending 3 days with the same guide holed up in a private car with no option to retreat to the back of the bus. But Sam was the perfect combination of being friendly and personable, with a good sense of humor, yet always professional and very easy to be around. No feeling like you had to "be on" for ten hours. And he always kept in tune with our specific needs and interests, as opposed to blustering on with his own preplanned agenda or commentary. On our Salisbury/Bath day, he did an impromptu drive-by of Stonehenge so we could at least get a look from the road, since we did not have time for a complete stop. His car was perfect for us, a minivan with an oversized sunroof, so our two 14-year olds each got a window seat and were able to nap a bit between destinations. Always felt safe with his driving. He pointed out the best photo spots as well as shopping and eating options. As a native of Britain, he was a great source for all our questions about Britain, whether related to the days tour or not. In sum, we felt our tours were well worth the money and would definitely use British Tours again.

My family and I used British Tours for two day tours during our recent stay . Our tours were Windsor Castle one day and the other was Dover and Leeds Castle. We were very lucky to have our tours enhanced by Sam our tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. That alone would have been enough. However, my family and myself really connected with him . We felt comfortable and at ease with him at all times. We are grateful to British Tours for adding Sam into our memorable trip. The whole experience was Brilliant!

We had pre-booked two days of guided travel with British Tours and could not have asked for more from them.
We were picked up from our rental home in the Western suburbs of London with a 13 passenger coach and taken to Windsor Castle for a half day trip and again a full day of the Tower of London and Westminster.
Our guide, Layla, was superb. Her primary task was to be the guide for the grandchildren, ages 7-13, but she also needed to include the adults. A tough task, but she did a great job.
Layla worked with us during the two days so that the children could have appropriate bathroom breaks and time to grab a cold drink or an ice cream when their attention gave out. She was very good at modifying her tours to hit the high spots as the children started to overload with the sights, sounds and information.
Giulia at British Tours was our point of contact and this all came together due to her yeoman efforts.
All nine of us look forward to working with this group again.

Two tours on different days, both great.
My wife and I took our 8-year-old to London for his first time and wanted to see all of the usual suspects (Tower of London, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, etc.) is a way that was efficient and informative. British Tours was easy to work with, and we had a great guide (he happened to get us twice) called Sam. He knew his stuff, got us into each attraction quickly with either guide credentials or with thoughtful pre-planning / ticket purchases, and my boy got to experience a good part of London with way more information and perspective than you would get with a book or an audio guide. Sam was affable, knowledgeable and very accommodating as both the driver and guide. Would recommend to anyone!

As it was our first time in London and were only going to be in town for a few days, we wanted to get as much quality time in as possible. I searched online for the best tours and, of course, there were many options. Most of them were with many others on a bus and very limited in what you could do and how much time to spend in any particular area. After reading what British Tours had to offer I decided to give it a go. We selected the City Tour for seven hours. We were picked up at our hotel in a very nice SUV (air-conditioned, too). Our host, John, was so wonderful! He made us feel like we were special. He made suggestions for the "highlights" and was SO knowledgable about everything we encountered and then some. It was personal. There were only three in my group (wife, young teen, and me). He drove us around the city highlighting different neighborhoods and the history behind them (We loved that) and was able to get us into Westminster Abbey quickly and was our personal history guide. Yes, it is a little more expensive than the bus tours, but WORTH EVERY PENNY! Of course, we also tipped him because he went above and beyond. You will not regret getting a tour with British Tours.

My husband and I spent two lovely days with Jeremy, who escorted us through Oxford, Blenheim Palace, some of the Cotswolds, Canterbury Cathedral and Chartwell.
The experience could not have been more enjoyable. Not only did we see the spots on our list, but Jeremy was able to take us to places that we would NEVER have found on our own, and provide historical context not in the guidebooks. His knowledge of the history and culture of the region was invaluable for an American audience. Not unimportantly, Jeremy was articulate, funny and very pleasant to spend time with.
In retrospect, we should have signed up for more!

We had the most wonderful experience with British Tours. Sam took us on an all day tour which included Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Oxford. It was worth every penny! Through his connections, he was able to get us the best tickets and get us to the front of the line at Windsor Castle. He picked us up and dropped us off directly at our Airbnb, which was very convenient, and brought lots of water bottles and even an umbrella should we need it.
He knew the history of every place we visited and made it come alive to our family of 5 (with 3 teenagers). He also found us a place to eat for lunch which met the family’s special dietary needs. He was so considerate. It was like visiting a favorite very intelligent uncle and having him show you around.
British Tours also connected us to wonderful people who drove and showed us around Paris on a four hour tour which was also such a fantastic experience. Both tour guides knew the best spots for pictures and even took remarkable pictures of our family for us. I would encourage anyone visiting Europe to work with this top notch group.

We were a large (8 member) family group ranging from near 80 yo grandparents down to near 21 yo college students in 2018. My mom is mobility-impaired and my dad has Parkinson's and so taking trains or tour buses was going to be challenging. We decided to book a mini-bus, driver and guide (including parking, gas and tolls) through British Tours. Giulia and Caterina were very responsive as we made itinerary arrangements. Note that we still had to book our own flights, airport transfers, hotels, and attraction tickets and pay for restaurants and pubs as we went. This made for a lot of work for me, the planner. Giulia was good about recommending attractions to visit and accommodating to what we wanted to see. Our final six day itinerary including a first day in London with visit to the British Museum (and special Ashburnipal exhibit), overnight to York with visit to the Jorvik center, Christmas market, York Minster (outside), Shambles, and ancient Roman/medieval walls, day trip to Oxford with Christ Church College, Christmas market, St. Anne's College, Bodleian courtyard (the library was closed for tours), Ashmolean Museum (with Spellbound exhibit), and visit to Warner Bros. Studios Harry Potter tour, day in London with Buckingham Palace photo op, Globe Theatre photo op, Tate Modern (Abbi Alpers exhibit), and Tate Britain (Turner Collection), and final day trip to Stonehenge and Bath (Roman Baths, pub lunch and shopping). We could not have managed all of that with my parents without the help of our driver Gagin, guide Themis, and the minibus. Themis is a trained archaeologist and that was very helpful in learning about the sites we visited (we expressed a special interest). She was also very gracious in supporting my parents and helpful in selecting lunch spots and making evening recommendations when she left us at the end of each day. The bus provided was very easy to get in and out of (not a minivan), clean and comfortable with reclining seats. It had large windows and low interior lights for night driving (as we were there in December it was great). The driver was extremely good under city and highway conditions - very comfortable for us and no safety concerns at all. He also assisted with luggage and the wheelchair we rented for my mother. The trip met all expectations - and exceeded some (we loved Themis - she was great company). It was not cheap (roughly $1,400 per day), especially considering all of the arrangements we had to make on our own with their additional expenses. We could have easily fit more people in the mini-bus (it seated 20), though not with full travel luggage for an overnight trip. As it was we spread out. We also used this company to book airport transfers for my parents (separately) and that was exorbitant. We used another much less expensive company for the remaining transfers and they were just as good for that service. This company also offers day bus trips for sightseeing for a very reasonable fee, which would have been an alternative for us if we had traveled without the grandparents. As it was, this might have been my parents last overseas trip and our last big trip together, and it was a worthy conclusion and allowed us to do much much more, and more enjoyably, than otherwise.

We had a wonderful 7 hour private tour of London with a driver and guide around the holidays. The guide was excellent, full of information and helped us prioritize what to see in areas that could be overwhelming. She also suggested additional sites to see that were excellent. I would highly recommend British Tours.

We had an amazing experience as a family of 4 with 2 young daughters on their first trip to London. Our tour guide, Rod, was wonderful and we were able to see quite a lot in a day. He also told some great stories and showed us some things we never would have thought to ask about. He also took us to a great pub for fish and chips that dates back to 1520 that we never would have found on our own. I will definitely use British Tours again in the future and will recommend them to anyoneI know who will be vacationing in London!

My husband and I had a marvelous two-day private tour that took us from London to Stratford-upon-Avon, where we saw Romeo and Juliet and spent the night. Our guide, John, was extremely knowledgeable, and it was fun and easy to be with him. He had stories and information about everything, and we had no idea how much we didn't know until John started talking. Some of the highlights were visits to Shakespeare's birthplace and grave, a drive through the Cotswolds, and a stop in Oxford for lunch on the way back to London. We highly recommend British Tours for an individualized experience.

We did an all day private tour with our guide Mike. He showed us so much. He was extremely knowledgeable with so much insight about the places we visited. He had interesting anecdotes about so many things! We were learning and laughing throughout the day.
The car was very comfortable. Mike was very thoughtful. He frequently checked in to see if we needed water, a break or less information.
On a final note, Mike and the British tour company go above and beyond. My husband left his jacket in the car. Mike returned it to us at our hotel before we left for the next leg of our vacation. Definitely a tour company and guide a cut above the rest.

Fantastic 5 Hour Tour!!
We spent 5 hours with our guide, Mike, who was wonderful! Mike gave us a great tour of many of London’s historical attractions and neighborhoods. It was our first trip to London and this was a great way to see the city and learn about some of the history. Mike was very knowledgeable and really made the whole experience wonderful. We would highly recommend Mike and British Tours to anyone interested in a tour.

We had an amazing time with British Tours and our guide Mark! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to see London in detail, and with such qualified experience. Our guide knew exactly how to navigate the city, while adding knowledge, history, and great stories. Recommend talking to your guide before heading out for the day and highlight the attractions you most want to see.

We toured the Churchill War Rooms and downtown London with our guide, Mike, during the week after Christmas. The tour was wonderful and Mike was especially kind, generous, and entertaining. My family and I loved the experience. I would highly recommend British Tours to anybody visiting the UK. Their positive reviews on Google and TripAdvisor are well-deserved. I also want to mention that the staff who helped coordinate the tour were very friendly and accommodating, and easy to reach even after I arrived in Britain. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

Our family of 4 hired British Tours for 2 different tours - a day tour of Paris, and a day tour of the D Day Beaches. In Paris, our tour guide was Lily, who was so kind and sweet, and super knowledgeable of the city and its history. Our tour guide for the D Day beaches was Andre. He met us at our hotel in Paris and drove us all the way to Omaha Beach and the US Cemetery. He talked non-stop (in a good way), teaching us all the history surrounding D Day. He had a great sense of humor and made the whole trip so enjoyable! We would not have wanted any other tour guides.
D. T.
Amazing from beginning to end! Our tour guide for the 2-day “Castles of England” was Geoff, and we could not have asked for a better person to take us on this journey. Everything about it was perfection. We especially appreciated the way he molded his guidance to fit our style, frequently checking in to make sure we were getting the guidance we were hoping for, seeing what we wanted to see, and learning what we wanted to know. Geoff was knowledgeable, fun, easy to be in the room with (or his comfortable car, as a fair amount of a 5-stop countryside tour is always going to be).

We had a personalised London Tour with our family from from the states. Our tour guide Jonathan was absolutely amazing he was very informative as well as courteous and patient with us. The driver was also brilliant. I would definitely recommend using British Tours.

Our family of 5 spent two full days with Sam, and it was well worth it. During those days we visited the Globe Theater, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower of London, War Rooms, Hampton Court and Kensington Palace in depth. We also enjoyed Sam's expertise in pointing out other places along the way, including the Queen's hat shop and the oldest wine shop in the UK. If you can afford it, this is definitely the way to go to make the most out of a few days in London. If we had it to do over again, we might have skipped the Globe and/or War Rooms (both of which are pretty self-explanatory and could have been done without a guide). We would have allocated more time at the Tower and would have also visited Westminster Abbey with Sam - those are places where his expertise and insight would have been better used.
T. H.
We are a family of 4 (all over 18) who had the pleasure of being guided on an all day tour through Highclere Castle and Stanlake Park Wine Estate by our driver and tour guide Sam. We were picked up at our hotel and first taken to a few locations in London that were used for filming on the Downton Abbey show. Then we made our way to the English Countryside where we visited the real life Downton Abbey castle. Sam had so much insight of the property! Even more so than was described through the tour. At one point other people were asking him questions because he was so knowledgeable. After Highclere, we were taken to a quaint restaurant before visiting an English Winery (Stanlake Park). I know what you're thinking, who goes to England for wine? Well we do, and we are glad we did! Our family and our tour guide Sam had a private tour with the vintner that guided us through the vines as well as showed us "behind the scenes" of the wine making process. All with a glass (or two) of wine in our hands. It is an old horse barn beautifully restored to a wine estate. We ended up leaving with 6 bottles which were to be enjoyed throughout the remainder of the trip and taken home! What a lovely day getting out of the hustling London city and enjoying the English countryside.

We did a private tour for six through British Tours and had Richard Bath as our guide. All I can say is amazing! Richard’s knowledge of London was amazing. If you’re ever in London, I highly recommend the tour company and Richard!

We used British Tours twice, once in 2017 and again with our family in 2019. Our experience with the guides, Geoff and Sam were excellent. I have and will continue to recommend them.
K. H.
Sam is a wonderful guide and helped introduce us to London. He took us on a night tour on our first day in London and then a day tour the next day. He was very knowledgeable, flexible, and a great guide to the city. We highly recommend him!
E. G.
We took a private tour to Oxford, Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds from London with Mike our guide in Spanish language. Our guide was fantastic and very professional. Thanks to his knowledge we learn a lot of history related to this emblematic places. I recommend British Tours and Mike our guide.

Our experience with British Tours was absolutely ideal. My wife and I were in London for 8 days and wanted to see all the regular sights in London, Buckingham Palace, the changing of the guard, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, St. Paul's cathedral, Tower Bridge and The Globe Theater. We also wanted to visit some places outside or London, such as Hampton Court, Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Althorp. Our driver and guide was a Mr. Anthony Marangos. A couple if things need to be said about Anthony. First, he was our guide for the six days we toured. This was brilliant as it provided continuity and allowed us to get to know him and allowed him to learn the sorts of things we liked to see. Second, I would recommend requesting Anthony by name. Traveling about with him was like being shown London by an old friend whose knowledge of the sights was not only superb, but who also truly cared about making our overall experience top notch. We not only saw everything we wanted to see, but along the way Anthony showed us innumerable other sights we would have otherwise missed or been unaware of. For example, we had a day when we wanted to see the Globe Theater, London Bridge, The Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral. Anthony took us to see each of these in great detail providing us with information and answering all our questions. Along the way he also showed us the Bank of England, The Royal Exchange, The Mansion House of the Lord Mayor of London, Leadenhall Market used in the Harry Potter films and we parked at Trinity House, which manages all the lighthouses in the UK. After seeing The Tower of London and the Globe we went to St Paul's , this time parking at the Stationer's Hall, which he showed us and explained was the location of the assembly and printing of the first King James Bible. On the way back to our hotel via Fleet Street he stopped at St. Clement Danes, a beautiful church dedicated to the RAF, which very few would even know existed. He also took us to the best and most flavorful Pubs and Inns for lunches. This was a single day. Each day was like this with all the little extra details. Sound exhausting? It was not. Every part of every day was done leisurely and with our comfort and enjoyment in mind. It was magical and Anthony had a real gift for doing everything on our list, plus a dozen more things we did not know to ask for and somehow get it all done in a relaxed and comfortable manner. When we went to the Countryside to see Windsor Castle, instead of just staying on the main motorway, he took hidden little routes through the countryside allowing us to see the most beautiful landscape along with 600 year old villages, Inns and Churches. As our guide Anthony was friendly, courteous and most importantly, thoughtful of us and our needs at all times. Moreover, his knowledge of the sights was superb. I consider myself a well read and well travelled amateur historian and I was thoroughly impressed with Anthony's knowledge. Moreover, he clearly loved the history and stories behind every sight and it showed. Another, really nice added touch was that after each day, we received an email from Anthony providing a list of all the sights we had seen that day, including all the additional points of interest we had passed or he had added. This was very much appreciated, otherwise we would have been wracking our brains when we arrived home trying to remember all the additional things he had shown us.
My wife and I have travelled extensively through France, Greece, Spain, Italy, The Czech Republic, Egypt, Malta, Sicily and points beyond. We have never had a tour service that came even close to the quality of British Tours. When returning to London we will always use British Tours and highly recommend them.

What a most fabulous day in London! We didn't know how much we could do with a twelve-hour layover. But in a mere eight hours, our guide, Rod Weale, got us to and in everything on our list and much, much more! Knowledgeable and courteous and hospitable and timely, he turned our day in London into one of the most memorable days of our lives! Thank you ever so much!

We had an excellent guide, Richard, who was a former professor. He was able to tailor our 3 hour guided tour to our interests. his knowledge of all things British was inspiring. He was personable and filled with fun facts.
Highly recommend.

One of the greatest experiences of our life. Our guide was very kind, professional, and knowledgeable. He even got us front row to see the queen ride by in her carriage.

Our tour to Oxford and the Cotswolds was great!!! Our guide Nigel picked us up at our hotel and showed us many of the colleges that make up Oxford University and some great villages in the Cotswolds. He was very informative and enthusiastic and we loved the tour!

We toured with Collum for two days. What an amazing guy and amazing experience. Collum was at a disadvantage because my wife and I are art world professionals and know quite a bit, he never failed to keep us informed and dazzle us with his incredible knowledge. Five stars for British Tours, 10 stars for Collum!

I highly recommend Mike. He was the best tour guide I've ever had- knowledgeable, interesting and charming. He took us to Windsor an Stonehenge and gave a private tour of both and then drove us around London and pointed out additional points of interest.

We did the 5 hour tour of London. The beginning was good (mostly walking), first 2 hours. After that it seemed like we were in car/traffic the rest of the tour. Somewhat disappointing...

Outstanding tour. Highly recommend this company. Request Mike Stewart as he was a great guide. Spent the day with him and my daughter. He knew all the tricks and shortcuts.

I would recommend to anyone travelling to Europe to utilize British Tours services. The staff is great and the guides exemplary!

London tours was the best way for my family and I see to see most of the Iconic London spots. We had a personalized tour with Mark our tour guide who was just amazing. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about all the landmarks we hit but his enthusiasm for his job made the tour extra special for us. My We had a 5 hour tour that was just enough for my young kids who were battling jet lag. The ride was comfortable and Mark went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and saw all the spots we wanted to see plus some he recommended. I cannot recommend this company enough. If you are looking for an personalized tour of London without the hassle of crowds or battling the time frame of others, this is the best way to go if you are willing to spend a little extra. The extra we spent was definitely well worth it.
