Reviews of Meantime Brewing Company
H. C.
A good stop for our trip in Greenwich. The food is good (good portion of white bait, which is our favourite snack) the Yakima red bbq sauce is really good, would be happy to buy a bottle of it if they sell it. The hot wings are hot enough for someone grown up eating spicy food. Beer is not top notch for craft beer standard but good for someone who’s new to craft beer, my favourite is Yakima red which is their red ale. They also offer brewery tour which we have never been, seems popular though.
B. B.
Decent stop, quite hidden away from the trail though. If you don't mind that they're owned by Ashai this is a good little taproom with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Beer range is good with a nice variety although we had just missed out on a Black IPA there were some other great choices such as a Bock at 8% and a lovely stronger version of their red ale too.
Bar snacks served - pipers crisps
A full menu is also available although I didn't try it on this occasion as didn't have time.
Would reccomend, especially If you're new to or curious about becoming more into craft beers.
Closest transport from Meantime -
London buses which stop near the brewery.
Closest Underground station is North Greenwich on the Jubilee Line and then catch a bus or taxi.
Closest DLR station is Cutty Sark for Martime Greenwich and then walk past the Cutty Sark and down the Thames pathway.

If you are a beer lover this place is great. You will get a different variety of beer and my personal favourite is Cutty haze and also I loved the chicken burger with beer Sauce.
Y. H.
Awesome tour led by the legend that is Barry (Buddy). Factual but a good laugh at the same time making this an enjoyable experience, shout out to Greg (George) as well for pulling some decent beers. We’ll be back, all the best from Jo (Yoann) and Crew

Brewery tour was great. The tour guide ‘Bex’ was wonderful. She knew more about beer than anyone I’ve ever come across, was clearly passionate about what she did, and kept everyone engaged throughout….I couldn’t think of a beer related question she didn’t know the answer to. Overall it was a very good evening.
P. T.
That was a very good quality tour, but not on the outstanding side. If you want to learn about how beer is made you should visit rather Fuller's in Hammersmith or Guinness in Dublin. The guide Menon was a very knowledgeable and fool of passion and a personality. We tasted five different beers, but all of them for me was a very similar. Definitely you can recognized a style of this brewery based on German Pilsner lager school. Well balanced but more on the diluted, easy to drinking style, definitely that wasn't my cup of tea. :-)
The room tasting is seraunded by bottles of beers from Michael Jackson collection.
4,6 points from me.
@meantimebrewerystour
"Meantime Brewing Company is a brewery based in Greenwich, London, England. The company was founded by Alastair Hook in 2000, and was purchased by SABMiller in May 2015.
As part of the agreements made with regulators before Anheuser-Busch InBev was allowed to acquire SABMiller in 2016, Meantime Brewery was sold to Asahi Breweries of Japan in October 2016."
It is one of the global cash cow businesses.
N. K.
Staff are friendly but unfortunately the beer selection is poor. They have 10+ draft taps but only 5 different beers and just 1 of their new brews on with multiple taps of the bog standard lager and pale ale. More interesting stuff only available in cans which is quite frankly embarrassing for a brewery taproom
Shame as used to like coming here and getting the tasting paddles to try new stuff but you are better off visiting one of many nearby pubs which have a far better beer selection (The Crown, River Ale House etc)
M. K.
It was a memorable brewery tour! The guide (I am sorry, I forgot her name..) was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about beer and this brewery. The tasting was nice, they offered various types of beer with full-explanation and it was also enough to be tipsy or drunk. Overall, the whole tour was well-organised, funny and useful to understand beer histroy of London.
m. f.
Amazing beer tour. Staff were so friendly and really welcoming. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and very witty.
K. M.
Literally one of the best TOURS we have done ever, let alone the best brewery tour. Informative and hilarious, not for the easily offended. So good. Loved it and the Yakima Red was stunning! Would heartily recommend you do this, a bit out of the way but so worth it.
Á.
Great brewery Tour! The guy who took us trough the brewery was fun and friendly, and we got drunk during the tasting room because were only 3 people in the tour and he won't stop filling our glasses. The shop is great too. It's a 20 minute walk from North Greenwich station but it's totally worth it.
R. M.
If you want some tasty beer come here! My Dad and I took the tour that lasted about 1.5 hours. Ryan, our tour guide, was funny, knowledgable and engaging. He was so good at answering everyone’s questions and liberal with the tasters. You’ll be in good hands here.
M. S.
Great variety of different beers. Raspberry Wheat and Yakima Red are my particular favourites. Came here for a tour at Christmas, the guide was really great and seemed to really know his stuff. Love coming here.
C. B.
Loved our tour. Bex was a great guide and we definitely learned more about brewing. The samples were ample and very good. Highly recommended.
O. L.
First time visiting a brewery tour and have to say will be looking to go back. Big Al was a great guide and made it a very good experience from his knowledge of the brewing industry right up to the tasting of the meantime drinks.
K. N.
Brilliant brewery tour - our guide was lovely, funny and knew everything about beer! Great place to drink afterwards. Would definitely recommend, learnt a lot.
A. C.
Great fresh beers on tap, the Cutty Haze is a favourite. Friendly staff and decent food. We've made this a regular haunt for a few drinks.
S. _.
Brilliant tour. Particular credit should go to Bex. Extremely informative and friendly. Lovely bunch of people. Would thoroughly reccomend to anyone fancying a chill few drinks or any aspiring beer snobs out there.
A. W.
Nice place, the staff member serving us seemed a little preoccupied and stressed with her job. She got an order slightly wrong, which she rectified quickly, but my brother said, "I reckon she's going to bring you another beer" I ordered a lemonade. It's only a minor thing. Drinks are expensive here, but it's to be expected with the great quality of drinks and array of choice. It's a lovely place to head for a few drinks. I would recommend it
M. J. B.
Lovely fresh beer, tasty grub and very sweet and funny staff. The guy who served us in the shop was hungover and very amusing. It's bit out of the way on an industrial estate, only real drawback
S. K.
Wonderful craft brewery great food, friendly staff! Take a tour!
J. T.
Excellent! 6 of us went on the brewery tour and our tour guide knew everything about beer, lost on me but to my beer connoisseur mates he was an absolute genius! Gives you a new-found respect for the beer industry and the amount of work that goes into producing you a nice bevvie!
Also good for food and a general relaxed atmosphere!
p. i.
Good tour and tastings with Bex. Only letdown was lack of beer pack souvenir options in shop
R. B.
One of the best brewery tours we've ever been on. Ryan, our guide, was super knowledgeable and extremely passionate about both brewing and the company. We'll definitely be coming around again, as there's so much more to hear, drink and learn about. Outstanding beers too...
M. P.
I was taken there for my stag-do and we all had an amazing experience.
Our enthusiastic and funny guide Anna-Rose made sure we thoroughly enjoyed the evening, while learning a little bit about the different beers brewed on the site. Mostly from the tasting angle.
Let's be honest, if you're looking for a 'proper' brewery tour with loads of details on the process, this probably isn't for you. However, if you're looking for good fun, loads of drinking and getting a few information on history of beer and the brewery on the side, that's definitely something for you.
Great place to go to start off a stag or birthday for any beer enthusiasts!
M. D.
I've been here for both the brewery tour and the newly opened bar.
The brewery tour is a delight, well worth the money. I came away from it enlightened about beer brewing and a little tipsy. The staff kindly booked us a cab to a local pub that served Meantime beer so we could keep our night going.
The Meantime bar is very nice new bar. They offer tasting boards of 6 or 7 beers at a time, in 1/3 pint glasses. A great way to try all of them.
The food is on the steep side price wise. I'd go with a full belly or expect an empty wallet.
I'd like to see them drop the price of the beer there a little, given that they transport costs for the beer is literally nothing, you'd think you'd be getting a decent discount.
Delicious beer so I'll be back.
J. R.
Great outdoor space and attentive friendly staff. No heaters but well covered. Tasty snacks, and good beer. Limited menu so you know they're experts in everything they serve
H. J. S.
Absolutely loved visiting this London craft brewery and learning about the history of the company and the beers they produce. We went with a birthday party on a Saturday night and there were about 25 people on the tour in total. Our host Alex was outrageously friendly and did a great job of making everyone feel welcome and remembering all of our names.
The tour costs £15 and lasts approximately an hour and a half. You get to sample several different beers and are also able to get 10% off purchases in their shop afterwards. Would really recommend this for a group outing, a quirky date or just a trip out with your favourite beer lover!
A. M.
I've been a regular customer for purchasing Meantime's beers large and small bottles format from the brewery shop with a great surprise large bottles apparently have been discontinued.
Despite there was nobody to serve at the brewery shop the Meantime shop assistant was not really interested on engaging with me. The person remained seated at the back of the till with the bored face. 😑
T. L. F.
My wife and myself have been on dozens of beer tours both in this country and in Europe and we can honestly say Big Al's was far and away the best. With superb Meantime beer flowing, Big Al's comic routine and talk on the beers and brewery was fantastic. The whole audience warmed to Al and I will certainly recommend the tour and the fantastic beers to all my friends.
N. W.
The Brewery Tour at Meantime is a fantastic experience. The host Alex is very friendly and entertaining, remembers everybody's and is not afraid of making fun of himself or you. It's a very relaxed, funny and informal setting, and despite all that, it also manages to be informative about Meantime and its founder's history, as well as about the beer making process in general. The free samples don't hurt either. I highly recommend giving this a visit. It's £15 well spent.
B. A.
I organised a stag do last weekend and we started the day with the 12pm brewery tour. I knew that it would be good but I really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was! Big Al took our tour and he really set the tone for the whole day. He managed to combine his knowledge and clearly huge passion for beer and for the Meantime Brewery with the feel of a stand-up routine. He worked the room and got everyone involved, not just the guys on the stag do but the other tour members as well. This was the third brewery tour that I have been on in the last six months and Meantime was by far the best! Even after the tour Big Al came into the tasting rooms and bar and continued to engage with the tour group making sure that all questions were answered and that everyone was happy and enjoying the Meantime Brewery and their great beers. I'm already planning to go back with the guys from work and with my family next time they are visiting London. Thank you Big Al!
K. G.
I visited the Meantime Brewing Company for a tour of their brewery followed by beer tasting and a pie and pint. Jack, our tour guide was so knowledgeable about brewing and had a million fascinating facts to throw at us - I was also particularly impressed when he confessed at the end of the evening that he'd also made the pies for us himself! The brewery is not particularly easy to find in the dark, but I'm told they have new, bigger signs on the way. Once inside, the whole place is gleaming and there are millions of interesting bottles of beer on the wall from their founders collection. The whole place is lovely and it was definitely worth the trip!
S. F.
Great tour delivered by a guide that seems genuinely passionate about the brand and products, and incredibly knowledgeable about the beers backgrounds.
The majority of it consists of a session in a private bar as you try each of the brands main beers while hearing the background of each and how they are made, as well as the story behind the Meantime Brewing Company. It then finishes with a tour of the brewery.
Only downsides were some tourists that decided to chat to each other throughout the tour making it hard to concentrate, but unfortunately there wasnt much that could be done about them and overall we still enjoyed the tour.
J. C.
Absolutely loved learning about the history of Meantime - and the history of beer! Great tour guide, so friendly and knowledgable and they went well over the allotted time limit which was great for us! The test beers were flowing and the stories kept coming, the group was probably a little on the large side as there wasn't enough seating for everyone but it certainly kept the conversation going. Couldn't recommend this enough.
A. L.
The brewery tour was fully booked so we had ourselves a beer and some sweet potato wedges with sour cream which was piping hot! They also have their own shop and the bar area is super family friendly, spacious and relaxed. Can't wait to go back for the brewery tour! For the owners, please fix the ladies tap! It doesn't switch off!
G. S.
This is off the beaten track and given what there is on offer, should have considerably more reviews.
A tour, a pub, an eatery, a shop, a brewery. Nicely tucked away in the historic Greenwich. A London gem. Meantime is an indie brand in shape and delivery and intends to remain so. The explosion of craft beer in the UK was long overdue and has invigorated interest in beer and beer consumption right at the same time the good old English pub is threatened with extinction. Businesses like this, with a thorough approach to the commodity are thin on the ground and should really, by rights get something from Her Majesty.
Visit, love, buy and frequent.....
S. P.
Big Al no longer works here!! This is tragic!!
I have just been on the brewery tour and can honestly say it was the best tour ever! The tour guide "Big Al" was the absolutely hilarious! Bloody comic genius and made the whole experience. If you do a tour make sure you get Big Al and don't forget to give him a big tip!
E. W.
Had a fun time on the tour. Our guide was a little over-enthusiastic perhaps, and was gave more silly comedy than factual information, but I've been informed that with other guides you get more interesting information. You get to try a very decent selection of beers, and after all that beer - the pie is very welcomed (an extra £15 for the pie).
Would recommend a visit.
C. C.
Great tour with really funny guide. Great selection of beers brewed here. Yakima red is probably the best, but give a go to the coffee porter and the chocolate porter too. Even the lager is good and has something different to offer than the big brands' lagers.
m. m.
I have been to most standard brewery tours from Guinness to cantilion, but this was awesome. Best beer tour I have ever had!!
Didn’t boar you with the normal brewery nonsense but instead gave you honest to the point chat. Our guide “big al” was so knowledgable about beer, not just the beer meantime sell but knew everything I ever wanted/needed to know about all things beer related. Would recommend for anyone from a novices to a self proclaimed beer nerd.
A. S.
Big Al has got to be one of Meantime Brewery 's greatest assets! He conducted our brewery tour like a maestro. More than two hours of laughs and beers. I have done the Heineken tour and this tour beats that hands down. So as long as you have a pulse and a sense of humour you must do tour.
A. O.
Very nice and the beer is very very good!fantastic!
H. N.
If you're in Greenwich then get yourself a pint of meantime beer, served in many of pubs. My particular favourite is the pale ale but also try the Yakima Red along with any of the seasonal beers. If you have a bit more time then go to the brewery itself just outside of Greenwich. For £15, you get to try 6 different beers as well as having a look around the brewery. If you're lucky you will get to meet the larger than life, cockney geezer Alex who was our tour guide. He's called the Whirlwind, if you meet him you will see why!
D. B.
Food was good, staff provided great service, but pub and shop had a super corporate vibe. No special beers available in their shop, only their core year around beers. I expected more from brewery of this size, especially with having travelled all this way to visit.
R. W.
I've been to a few brewery tours now and I must confess I still haven't really got a clue how the process of brewing beer actually works. Consuming beer and being educated don't mix it seems. Big Al led our tour and with all the talents of a stand up comic he ensured the laughter and beer samples flowed in equal measure. But without a quality product no amount of comic genius would save the day, luckily Meantime don't have that problem. The beer is wonderful too, Yakima Red being the star in my opinion. Book yourself in with a few mates and you won't regret it, you never know, you might even learn something.
C. P.
This company has 3 pubs but the best is the one at the Greenwich Information Centre, the have a great selection of micro beers and the best stout in London. Their food is also very good. My favorite is the pigs in a blanket. Beer is a bit pricy but a great experience.
t. m.
Meantime hosted us all for a staff party at their tasting rooms and brewery. The experience was incredible - Big Al was delightful as were the rest of the staff on duty. We all had a lot of laughs, a lot of booze so thank you Meantime!
B. E.
Dan did a fantastic job leading the final brewery tour on a Saturday evening. Funny, informative and engaging - his session blows the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam out of the water. Went away slightly tipsy, but significantly more informed about beer brewing.
a. p.
A big thank you to 'big Alan' for our tour on Wednesday evening, the tour formed part of our 'project handover for our client' and we all enjoyed it very much, plenty to drink, plenty of friendly 'banter' from Alan. A great brewery tour.
well done
Adam
V. B.
Amazing brewery at Greenwich, really good beer and cozy place to sit and enjoy your drink. Staff are very friendly and so is the crowd. Must visit for a drink or two when you cross through Greenwich/ Blackwall road..
G. W.
We went on the tour of the brewery which is very reasonably priced at £15. You are given a tour of the brewery, shown how beer is made, given loads of tasters and taken through the history of beer. It's definitely worth it to find out how Meantime make excellent craft beer.
F. S.
Killer beer and incredible tour. If you want to spend one hour enjoying some of the best London beers learning something in the meantime, this is your shot at it.
b. w.
It was a great experience especially with big Al as the tour guide and such a great laugh and the food is emazing
M. C.
Been on this tour twice because I love it (I don't even like beer that much!!). Everytime the tour guides make it so fun and enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fun day out!
M. S.
Rumours say they are extending and building a public Bar within! Can't wait, finally a good open bar in Greenwich! Good Beer and if you go for the tour Jethro will keep you educated and well lubricated with liqueur at the same time.
S. H.
Big Al is a legend and Meantime make some of the best beers and lagers in the UK . Highly recommend the tour. Very good way to spend a few hours in London.
J. H. (.
I knew the tour would be good, but it surpassed my expectations! Olly was a great guide, with some solid knowledge and good banter. I shall appreciate the Yakima and Pale so much more now I know what its been through! Highly recommended!
E. W.
I like camden town brewery -- I Love meantime brewery. tour is a hoot, and comes with lots of delicious beer. great opportunity to buy some of their limited run bottles. great product and great place to visit.
P. S.
A warm welcome awaits you on the Meantime Brewing Company's tours of the facility. Visits include the opportunity to sample several of their products (more than covering the cost of the ticket), take an extensive tour of the brewery and visit the shop for some take-homes...
D. A.
What a fabulous tour! Big Al was funny, informative, and made the experience amazing.
J. S.
Like a Willy Wonka's but for adults, this tour gives a fun insight to the developing world of craft beers. Jack the tour guide was funny, engaging and interesting. The pie was great too!
G. B.
Absolutely amazing. Highly recommended, but be aware of the strong language you may hear. Big Al is such an amazing guy, and you can see the love the put in their beers, a great place to visit.
J. C.
The bar has well kept and served beers as you would expect. They have a lot of stuff I've never seen elsewhere as well. The brewery tour is pretty good as well!
D. W.
Great, although we were late the woman on at the shop showed us in just in time for tasting. The guide was amazing and great beer!
J. H.
Customer service email address doesn't work - keep getting bounce back on emails to it. Issue eventually resolved over the phone (super helpful).
M. L.
This is one of the greatest tours I've been on. This was a venue on my Stag. BIG AL is the life and sole. If you are lucky to get him as your host you are very lucky.
S. G.
Really enjoyed the brewery tour, very knowledgeable guide. Few cheeky pints after. Delicious
A. S.
Fresh & tasty beer from the brewery, a bit pricy. Food options available as well as a beer&suvenir shop. Cosy atmosphwre. Also a big flat screen and games foe you to play. A bit noisy due to its location near the car lane.
G. L.
Beer tour is awesome. Big Al is hilarious. Went there for my birthday with some friends and had a blast. Well worth the money.
J.
Fantastic tour, probably the most memorable I have been on for a number of reasons! Definitely recommend getting in Big Al's group if you can. Good work!
N. S.
The tour was excellent, guide was very knowledgeable about the brewery, the brewing process and the history of beer.
P. M.
Fantastic brewery guided by someone who loves Meantime beers. First part is a tasting session and the tour. Different from other brewery tours i've been on.
M.
Excellent tour - starts with drinking all types of beer and then walking around the distillery. Would definitely recommend!

The perfect place to go to experience everything about the London craft beer scene! All the guys and girls here are top class!
m. c.
Haven't been to the brewery but my sister gave me a bottle of meantime chocolate porter she bought from a chain of off licence in Brighton called Hartleys which is a bit more up market than the usual crappie corner shop off-licence in town but so was the price anyway a really smooth nice pint if you like that sort of thing try it , it's the best I've tried of any chocolate power and wait rose sell it for £1.90 a bottle for just over roughly half a pint
J. C.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had a great time. Enjoyed the free samples and had great guide who was very funny

Nice modern industrial style bar, decent simple food; beer is of course fresh; the flights are flexible but overpriced

J. D.
Nice selection of craft beers. We just visited the bar, the staff was very professional and friendly.

I've been to many comedy clubs that were far less funny than our drunken tour guide, Alex. This place just wants to get you sudsy, have a laugh, and show you what they do.
C. H.
Great beer, chill environment, knowledgeable and kind staff and very clean.

Friendly helpful staff and cracking beer brewed on the premises in Greenwich , can highly recommend the chocolate porter ! I drove out of my way to purchase this delicious dark beer. Also worth a look is the exterior and roof of Rotherbury Hall next door, Victorian architecture at its finest
