Reviews of Manchester Visitor Information Centre
K. L.
Visited 4pm Wednesday 6th April. Very knowledgeable professional guide answering my questions over historic buildings from roman to the industrial revolution and the origination of why Manchester grew to become a city. Thank you

This information centre is in a very good location at Piccadilly gardens next to the public transport information centre.literally at the top of the interchange.the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.it hasn't the range of leaflets or souvenirs since it scaled down in size and moved to it's current location.still worth a visit for ideas of places to visit.

Great place to visit if visiting city for the first time. They can provide you with maps, places to go and restaurants to eat at. The person I spoke to was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Wasn't what I wanted but friendly service

It offers a big and colourful free map of Manchester as well as many leaflets of events happening around the city. Great starting point for Manchester newbies!

My first stop in Manchester after arriving at the train station, I'd done a little research online before arriving in town, but being from the stone age I wanted to grab a physical map and talk to an actual person before exploring. Was slightly apprehensive given the negative reviews here. My first impression was it was not much of a visitor centre, just some nice stacks of maps for the taking and not much else. So like another guide here I decided to just grab a map and leave; as I was about to one of the staff approached me and asked if she could be of help. So I told her the sights that I wanted to see, and from the top of her head she indicated on my newly acquired map where things were, what buses to take and directions to get there. I guess all the information you need is available in the visitor centre, but its in the heads of the staff and you need to know enough about what you want to do for them to help you. I think I would have spent a lot more time walking in circles getting my bearings if it wasn't for the helpful lady from the visitor centre. My one gripe, and its not a reflection on the service provided, is the location of the centre, it would have been jolly useful if it had been located in the train station I arrived at, but given that Manchester has multiple major train stations, coach stations and an airport, its understandable why they would chose to have a single central location.

No hellos coming in, but the old woman behind the counter did bark at me for looking round the corner where apparently it is no entry (no barrier, no sign). Despite her rudeness I talked to another woman who did help me find thingson the map, but did not seem overly enthused about Manchester.

Got all information I wanted- located in the city Centre, fast, with easy access- close to the bus station

This visitor centre is well placed in the center of town, just off the gardens tram stop.and next to the travel information an purchase office.
Inside the staff are quick to help and informative without being intrusive. There is a good selection of information packs and leaflets of what is available to do across Greater Manchester... Even for those who have lived here a while.
Well worth popping in.

The official tourist centre for Manchester! A good place to start for new visitors to the city. They have free city centre maps available as well as lots of info about local attraction (and slightly further afield too). It's also worthwhile dropping by if you're a local resident as they have lots of leaflets about forthcoming events. Plenty of good quality and tasteful souvenirs on sale too!

Just a visitor center can't say anything else

Most of the stuff are friendly, some are a bit uncommunicative. A few information flyer, a few merchandise article - nothing special.

If you're new to Manchester, make this your first stop. Good place to get all your information to plan your trip in and around Manchester. And as expected, there's the souvenir shop if you're inclined to that. Hint: get your I Heart Manchester t-shirts here!

If you've just arrived in Manchester and feel lost and confused, head for this place. The staff will help you to find where you are looking for, provide maps and leaflets, and maybe sell you a souvenir or two. It's easy to find, right on the corner of Portland Street and Piccadilly bus station, more or less opposite the Metrolink.
