N. L.Great service considering its the only service on the island. Frequent and always on time. Plus drivers are very friendly. I absolutely love this service that's been running successfully since 1921. And very easy service with the new Tap on Tap off payment.

Very skilled drivers down very small difficult roads. Most of the drivers are friendly and allow older people to sit down before moving off.

P. R.Running accurately to time over 2nd to 4th April, I used Southern Vectis 'buses to see a lot of the Isle of Wight. They were generally clean and well ventilated with friendly drivers.
R. B.Lost my wallet on the bus a couple of weeks ago. The drivers and depot staff were amazingly helpful, and resourceful. They went above any beyond to get it back to me the same evening. Thinking outside the box, and figuring out a solution. I really cannot praise them highly enough. N. L. M.We used the buses put on for the IOW festival which are further down the road from the main busses. The app is good for buying your ticket but do not activate it until you are within a chance of getting on the bus, as it counts down and it may run out before you get on the bus then you'll have to buy another ticket.

Check out the deals for pre paid tickets. Can give you savings, but read small print to make sure it's right for your needs.
(Watch for people passing cards/tickets out of windows to friends to allow 'free' travel. If they paid, prices may be cheaper? )
S. H.For those bothered by the prices, it is due to southern vectis not being subsidised by government, where as all mainland bus service are, so thats why they cost as much as they do.. That coupled with rising fuel and tax charges.
In my experience (lived on island all my life) bus drivers usually always friendly and helpful. The services run on time as best they can, rising traffic and roadworks will always hinder times, don't blame the drivers!
The busses since being updated have usb charging ports, very comfortable, nice interiors and all very smart and environmentally friendly as they could be without going electric.
All in all great service!
S. H.The buses are prompt and always on time when I have needed to catch one. Also good value for money. The only negative is that the number 8 has a less frequent service. Please increase the number of buses per hour as this service requires a more frequent service.
J. N.Great value transport on the isle of Wight. Plan ahead and send off for a key card and purchase multiday deals, they last for 2 plus years so you can use again next holiday. Bus fares include the tourist open top buses and island breezers.

A.Some employees of the company can come across rude and abrupt, even on the simplest enquiries, some buses should not be put in service as whenever I am traveling with Southern Vectis I am continually looking for defects on the vehicle. The Scania buses that they own 'XX09 XXX' (for example) are extremely uncomfortable and need to be either refurbished or withdrawn from service as they do cause issues for example I had very bad back pain after traveling for an hour on one. Aside from that the service they provide is acceptable, just the drivers and employees need a customer service training course on how customers need to be treated and that no customers are the same, every customer has different needs and different abilities.
H. H.Well organised for a crowded bus terminus, staff helpful. Indoor waiting room heated and most welcome respite from Baltic winds blowing across the forecourts, as many bus users have to wait fairly long periods for onwards connections.
Good access to town, Coop, Morrison's, M&S and if time allows a quick trip to Stotesburys just round the corner via the back alley by the spiral staircase relic. Havent tried the cafe under new ownership- but interested in any new reviews of said cafe - sorry cannot remember name.

C.Mostly the reason the buses do not keep to timetable is the amount of traffic and roadworks clogging up the Islands roads, the drivers are friendly and the buses are a great way to see the Island and stay relaxed. The bus stations are in Newport and Ryde, both of which give excellent access to shopping, restaurants/cafés or pubs

G. W.The island is not an easy place to operate a bus service running mainly double decker busses but against these odds, Southern Vectis offer a very respectable service. Prices are a bit higher than the mainland but, there's good reason for that. Quite simply, it's far more expensive to run and maintain a fleet of busses on the island. One of the best operators for public service imo.
