Reviews of Brittany Ferries
G. S.
Delay on the way out, but made up time during the crossing. Reclining seats weren't worth it on the overnight crossing, chose to sleep on the floor instead. Food was adequate, staff were pleasant. WiFi was frustratingly poor on the return journey.
J. B.
If a foot passenger at Plymouth instead of turning left as the sign says, you need to do a 180 degree U turn back to find the check in. Don't follow the signs to Embarcation. (Signage could be better.) Foot passengers get let on last btw, and despite the briefing saying you need to wear a mask at all times, no-one is wearing a mask. Not even one person:-)
M. V.
I have always used these ferries, they do very well at what they do. Improvement? Change the meal menu!! French cooking? I have had better in a road side “greasy spoon” menu not changed in the twelve years I have been traveling. That apart, it’s a meal and everything else is a mini cruise!
G. G.
A very enjoy crossing, Plymouth to Roscoff, everyone friendly & efficient. Ship scrupulously clean, a welcome respite from the craziness of England.
A. O.
The service was first rate.
Very helpful lady called Sarah sorted out everything I needed- went above and beyond. Thank you all at BF. I am very grateful for all your help over the years. Very good listeners which means they are then very accomodating.
M. F.
We have travelled on the Pont-Aven Plymouth to/from Santanda several times recently. The cabins are always clean. We were disappointed to note the restaurant menu this time was the same as before. However, we have always had a good choice. This trip the chicken was substituted with a lamb dish. It was cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Our compliments to the chef.
If you are travelling with a pet you will need to book early as pet friendly cabins and/or kennels are quickly booked up.
J. B.
Check in was good first time since covid didn't take much longer than before, boat was good, will definitely use again.
B. M.
Pont aven ferry from Santander to Plymouth. Good crossing with clean cabin and good breakfast. Ferry arrived on time but foot passengers not allowed off until most cars had left then exited via car deck. Passenger foot bridges not being used causing a long delay before disembark
J. R.
A good trip to France with Brittany ferries. If you live in the south west . Its a great way to start your holiday
L. F.
Tried it for the first time as due to Covid not keen on traveling by plane with little ones and we're definitely doing it again! The cabins are quite nice (the shower was really surprising as it is very powerful!) and the amenities around the boat were good too! We did 18h there and 23h back and things went really smoothly. We didn't use the self service but it looked nice and priced ok. Boarding and disembarking was alright and way more relaxed than going through security on an airport!
J. S.
Not been on a Ferry for years. The food have improved a hell of alot. Can't wait to go to France again on a ferry. Beats flying anyday
M. P.
The best ferry company in Europe. I've sailed with many, but Brittany Ferries really are the best.
r. f.
Brilliant check in by lady at reception Ann!as I'm hearing imparied!she kindly came out and talked me through! Very, very empathic person!must say whenever I've dealt with staff at brittany ferries!I've had nothing but great service from them!friendly and polite and helpful at all times!a pleasure it is!Well done ann and thank you!!

The friendly ferry service!
The crew were all in good spirits and happy to help. The restaurant and bars were good and there were plenty of tv's for live events (we watched the football ⚽) in relative comfort.
The seating area was clean and comfortable, and the rooms were also. I was surprised by the quality of the rooms and bathrooms.
Will definitely use again.
A. W.
A great ferry service from Plymouth to Roscoff on Amorique, we had a club cabin on the way to France and an outside 4 berth on the way back, for the cost would certainly upgrade to the club every time now - for both the space and feel of the cabin. Getting on and off in a car and finding your way around is very easy, there's lots of space on board. The only drawbacks were that the children play area was too small for the amount of children trying to use it and the food was overcooked and dry. Other than that, would travel with them again!
U. C.
Sailed from Plymouth to roscoff. Staff are mainly French but still friendly :)
It’s a short crossing although cabins are clean and cheap enough to be worth having. Cabins are even cheaper on daytime crossings.
It can be a bit chaotic boarding because there are some narrow walkways. It’s best to use the stairs if you can because the lifts get a bit full. The shops are and food places are great but you will want to take a book or dvd after the 30 minutes spent in the kiosks.
Driving on and off is well organised and a well oiled operation.
D. M. A.
An excellent way to travel to Spain without having to do 1000 miles through boring parts of France 😉
I. L.
Very good experience, from start to finish. Staff were brilliant and very helpful, cabins were excellent
M. L.
Don't go P&O! No queues at border control and once aboard, staff are very helpful and had suprisingly good food in the a la carte restaurant
J.
We have travelled on the Plymouth to Roscoff route about a year before COVID and it is Amazing the sailing is great, the on board facility's are great, the staff are always amazing, it’s quick and easy travelling through the ports and it’s the perfect way to start and end a holiday.
J. O.
Good experience friendly staff easy to book plenty to do on the 6 hour crossing was a little disappointed with the food for what it cost seating areas are nice and relaxing sky sports and films to watch was great would definitely recommend this service overall a good experience looking forward to using again and hoping the food has improved
C. T. C. E.
Great service except for the English Breakfast 2nd one I have had with them recently and it was horrible and also Cold , lesson learned not again , the Coffe was one of the best .
r. s.
Good trip on ferry to SPAIN .New ship was very well organised for Covid.Food was good and everyone was wearing masks outside of cabins.Very smooth and relaxing crossing.
M. S.
We had a peaceful and happy crossing.
So nice to see Brittany Ferries restored post Covid, and post Brexit.
R. M.
We had a good crossing and a bad crossing. In fairness the bad crossing was mostly due to the weather and they can't be blamed for the waves. But it wasn't helped by how crammed the car deck was on the Express Crossing.
The other longer crossing made for a nice evening out with the family. Dinner and a movie...much easier than flying with children.
J. L.
We always travel with Brittany Ferries, the crew are excellent and always friendly and helpful, but post pandemic has seen many challenges both for the ferry operators and the port operators due to staff shortages, with long delays getting on and off the ferry, Customs checks and police checks (covid certificates and the necessary documents adding to the problems)
B. H.
Great ship Pont Aven and food. Its a shame the new ships Galicia and Salamanca are so poor in comparison
s. d.
Great experience crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff, food on board was very good and staff were very good
B. W.
The cabins were nice (We had a 4 berth outside club cabin) with a fridge stocked with drinks, tea & coffee facility's, TV with DVD. It was clean and tidy and a nice large space. It was very organised getting on and off the ferry by car and we weren't delayed. The had a couple of gift shops reasonably priced & well stocked and plenty of seating in the restaurant & cafè. Only let down was the food from the restaurant was not a good standard, my pork pitta the pittas were very tough & bones in my trout starter. The chips were also dry. The kids burger & chips was literary a burger with no bap and chips. Big let down on the food front for the cost. The kids soft play area is tiny and would only allow 4-5 kids to play safely in it. There was a telè in the room but also limited seating for adults. The adults(older kids) have a large games room with arcade games. I feel young children need a larger space to play safely and securely with more activities for the 6 hour journey. Very boring for them otherwise, improvement needed for young kids entertainment. Otherwise the service was good and it was clean and nicely maintained.
J. C.
Only four stars sorry as the crossing took an extra 2 hours or more as Pont Aven ferry was only running on three engines instead of four as it had been on fire . Having said that the crossing from Plymouth to Santander was a pleasure. The sea was a flat calm and Brittany ferries deserve the thanks. We were on our bikes and we were fairly well rammed in on deck 4. See the picture for yourself if you like
G. W.
Brilliant way to travel across the channel. Comfortable cabins. Nice restaurants and pleasant staff. Been travelling on these for more than 20 years to various areas of France. Just returned on the "Pont Aven" from Roscoff to Plymouth.
R. G.
No choice of company if you want a ferry to Spain. Car deck always very cramped.
K. P.
Great ferry company with good quality service and friendly helpful staff. A variety of good entertainment on board too! There was even an indoor pool on 1 ferry I went on! Surreal to swim and look out on a much larger swimming pool outside!!
l. N.
Flag ship! Excellent journey, passed very quickly, good food and staff support
C. C.
My favourite ferry company. As a frequent user, wouldn't consider anyone else.
J. S.
This is a foot passengers experience.
Very useful local ferry journey between Plymouth and Roscoff. There are some special offers in the low season and they are very reasonable including hotels in France. We stayed in Roscoff in a friendly hotel with sea views and had a wonderful short break. All booked with Brittany Ferries.Cant wait to go again.
The Pont Aven is spotlessly clean and has a good selection of seating and cabins.
Foot passengers are welcomed and no longer have to hear their suitcases up the steps. Now a bus transports them from the terminal to the boat and you use the cardeck lifts to enter the boat.
The food is reasonably priced. The large prawns on a plate of 10 with accompanying sauce as starters were the best we had ever tasted. The lamb was ok but the steak was disappointingl. the breaded fish with chips was fairly good.
Portions are good .The ratatouille is excellent.
Cakes look amazing but we were on a diet. Fruit salad was good value
Excellent breakfast on return journey
Staff are very helpful
Toilets spotlesss. There is nothing to eat at ferry terminal if you arrive Friday lunchtime.
P. M.
Santander to Plymouth trip. A good trip, no issues, good service, good food, good cabin. No real negatives. Would recommend to get to Spain from UK, but as only ferry provider, limited options. Only complaint, and not Brittany Ferries problem was the delays in getting through UK customs, always slow in UK.
M. B.
Good cabins. Hot food could be better.
P. S.
Good smooth crossing, left nearly an hour late, but the paperwork to leave must be a nightmare for Brittany Ferries. Made up half an hour en route and disembarkation slower than usual because of passenger location form and test certification etc.
J. B.
Great environment but on the ferry itself please be aware that it is extremely expensive to use mobile data and to send texts/calls. It is stated in the booklet, but is not especially pointed out.
S. D. V. U.
Great way to skip the tolls in France. Work's out about the same as fuel and toll charges plus hotel cost but save you time on holiday leave.
L. G.
We are regular travellers with Brittany Ferries....a excellent channel Xing to Brittany ,service for us!! Always everything is of a high standard ...And last week the ferry was busy!! Great !! Not just Brits coming over either! Viva Brittany Ferries!
m. I. B.
I travel from Plymouth to roscoff France it's a maising journey comfortable and nice clean the toilet very clean the room it's a maising.the breakfast nice I feel like I am in the hotel there's free WiFi networks and play games shopping free duty
C. D.
Good ferry for going to France and back, high quality food and services
R. C.
Great crossing to Santander. Entertainment was good and food and drink not too bad. Breakfast wasn't great but acceptable.
H. L.
Well equipped ship, good crew. I was lucky with very smooth seas. The seat option is not good, recommend a cabin to get sleep.
J. L.
We like the Pont Aven but she is showing her age with cabin toilets reluctant to flush now quite common from our experience and listening to the experiencs of others.
The food in the Flora restaurant has gone down hill steeply. It looks good but doesn't taste good now. Tough and tasteless beef and overcooked quail on our most recent trip.
But we did see plenty of dolphins and I even managed to photograph the tail of one. A common dolphin I think.
P. S.
Great service, very pleasant and helpful staff. Regular user, always good.
J. R.
Fantastic Company! I have had many happy journeys with Brittany Ferries (about 20ish since 2010) and would use them every time. 10/10.
R. H.
Great vessels - nice cabins, friendly service - they even arranged a smooth crossing for us!
C. A.
Good experience, from Plymouth to Roskoff. Good ferry, with good ammenities onboard. Cabin was clean and adequate. Sleep was disturbed by various things. Ear plugs are essential if you want to sleep. Driving on and off a doddle too.
K. W.
Very impressed with the ferry service it was very straight forward no problems. The crossing from Roscoff to Plymouth we really enjoyed. Had a great view from the cabin which was a good size and very comfortable. We will definitely use them again.
J. L.
All good now we have discovered de luxe cabin.. well worth the extra.. this trip (2020) however it was obvious that money is tight.. maybe cashflow, as there were no nespresso pods in the Commodore Lounge, and the restaurant take away ran out of pizza and OJ!
J. D.
Great ferry crossing. All staff are really polite and helpful. Cabin was clean and tidy, and social distancing measures etc. were all very good. Third time using Brittany Ferries and always a great experience.
P. H.
Great, definitely use again...
G. K.
Great way to travel to the middle of France. Time to relax, enjoy a meal and grab a few hours rest
J. R.
Not too bad, clean, friendly staff, but the Duty Free? Sainsbury's is cheaper, Amazon much cheaper, as is any supermarket in Spain... I remember REAL duty free...
A. W.
Excellent check-in & friendly security staff.
L. T. C.
Always a pleasure to travel via Brittany ferries
d. _.
All I can say is we will never use Dover to Calais again. First class service many thanks
N. W.
Brilliant smooth crossing... Staff lovely and friendly....
t. s.
Excellent trip. Easter Sunday was very quiet for traveling on the ferry. Great weather, smooth seas and no rush to get the best seats or in the food ques. Would recommend traveling on Easter Sunday it made such a difference and ticket was cheaper.
P. B.
Easy access to France from the UK great crossing loads to do#no1
A. M.
Great crossing. Staff on board very friendly and helpful. Sailed from Roscoff to Plymouth. Very left o time and arrived on time. Everything on the ferry looked clean and tidy, the restaurants supplied a good variety of food, that although was a little bit expensive was nice and good tasting. It was good to have tea and coffee in larger cups
L. M. 2.
Never had a bad crossing with BF
D. H.
Overnight sailing from Plymouth to Roscoff. Nice warm, clean cabin and en suite with comfy bunk beds and a porthole. Apparently we encountered a storm halfway across but I slept through it. Lovely food in the restaurant, very helpful bilingual staff. Will definitely be sailing with them again
S. B.
The only way to travel with your car or campervan
A. B.
Good, although we had to wait over an hour before our room was ready. Good entertainment on board and food was fine
t. w.
Brittany ferries have had a tough year through Covid but I've made 3 sets of journeys each one without incident. Staff are helpful, call centres go the extra mile. Pleasure to sail with.
W. D.
Nice ferry to travel has all amenities for everyone. Kids area, free WiFi in certain areas. Food is excellent, if you can book a table at the restaurant it is well with it. The dining is exquisite. Cinema with recent films. The duty free shop is really good.
J. P.
They are very good at timing and setting sail on time. I recommend getting a cabin to escape from the crowds but even then it is very noisy unless you go through the cafe at lunch. Their best boat is the pont Avon which has a pool but it never seems to be open. But overall I think Brittany ferries are great and worth the money.
A. C.
A really good ferry company. Staff well trained and efficient. Boats are great and kept in good shape. Dock staff always let you know where you should go and when. Bit pricey on board and overall cost stop the 5 stars. Also would like to see more conspicuous help for older people or those struggling with luggage, children etc. You shouldn’t have to ask. Stairs up to boat in Plymouth a particular issue.
C. E.
Grew up watching these leave the port.. always wanted to go one. And well, it has lived up to what i thought clean and tidy and helpful staff, rooms are clean. Nice food and reasonable drinks, compare this to our ferry friends In hull, Brittany makes them look like wooden huts.
H.
The ships have good facilities and entertainment, with a cinema, pub quizzes and kids performers, a childrens play area, a good bar and a restaurant where the food was okay, but expensive for what it was. The cabin's are nice and clean, as is the whole ferry including the toilets. Boarding and parking wasn't too much of a hassle and I felt that my car and belongings would be relatively safe. Smoking is permitted anywhere outside and there is plenty of outdoor seating.
A. W.
Highly recommended. Always enjoy our crossings to France & Spain.
G. W.
Fantastic ferry service it’s like being on a cruise ship, the staff on board are really lovely to talk to and there is many things to do on many different boats they have. Will definitely be using Brittany ferries again in the future for a smooth and comfortable crossing
R. K.
Love going to France by Brittany Ferries. Restaurant food is not so good as it used to be but fills a gap. Staff always friendly. The holiday starts the moment you get on the ferry.
C. S.
Always use Brittany Ferries when travelling to France. The ships are magnificent with every facility you may need. The food is varied and delicious and the crew are always friendly, courteous and helpful. There is always plenty going on to keep the kids entertained and the cabins are comfortable and we'll appointed. I highly recommend them.
A.
On every sailing I've taken with Brittany Ferries they've always come across as organised and professional, and all members of staff have been happy to help with any issues.
On an overnight ferry I would recommend a cabin, as the seats on offer are not the most comfortable and I find them difficult to get a somewhat descent nights sleep.
j. g.
Always well organised, good food, competent staff. I trust this company to get me and my car across the Channel safely and on time. Only three stars on this occasion as they had run out of cabins and the alternatives did not promote sleep. I will do the overnight crossing again without a bed.
P. E.
Always love travelling with Brittany Ferries especially on the overnight sailings they do. Quality of the food on the ship restaurants is pretty amazing tbh, and very good value. The bars are great value and the staff are fantastic. Can be a bit rocky sometimes. But that’s boats for you.
d. f.
Everything is basic except the price. Rip off. Cabins are tiny, windows dont open. The food is not good but they don't care because there is no competition on board. Be prepared to pay ten quid for 'breaded cod', I.e. fish and chips. On the other hand, everything was spotlessly clean.
A. F.
Yes, pricy. But not really a ferry, more a nice boat. If you can run to 25 quid a head, the dinners in the posh restaurant are fun - drink a couple of bottles of excellent wine, and you're eating for free... cabins always clean, perfectly acceptable even midships or without porthole. Always a great start to the European trip. Uses them for almost 40 years. Hope to do so for another 40.
D. P.
Lovely boat. Good cabins. Entertainment available. Reasonable priced food but more expensive eating if wanted. Not too crowded in September but might be a more so in the high season.
M. H.
Wonderful company. Always great staff excellent facilities.
S. B.
Would have 5 stars if cabins were better aerated/ clean fr bugs. Almost each time I travel, we get sick catching bugs on the boat and this for over 10 years! Otherwise good service!
D. I.
Much better facilities on board compared to the economy crossing we previously took.
The bedroom actually had the basics, kettle and a TV, but unbelievably only one 1 spare plug socket in a room that's meant to sleep 4....
Choice of restaurants was a necessity on this crossing as the queue for the self service restaurant was beyond a joke in the evening.
WiFi reception was very patchy at best. Staff weren't able to give any details on future pricing or able to make any other future bookings.
F. H.
Great cabin- 4 berth outside Club- with tea/coffee making &TV. Food surprisingly good and cheap. Great salad bar and fruit salads . Only gripe was poor signage around ship, and inadequate ship plans.
r. w.
Very comfortable cabins at a reasonable price. Made the journey easy.
Not great for the dog who had to remain in the car. We couldn't get down to see him due to security restrictions so he spent 6 hours plus in the car whilst on the boat. It then took more than an hour to get off the ferry and through customs. He was desperate to pee by the time we were able to get him out of the car. Better provision needs to be made for animals!
J. S.
We have sailed with Brittany Ferries for many years taking our motorhome to France. The service has always been outstanding, great ships, comfortable cabins and good value, especially if you join their club voyage.
On our last trip, a long weekend to France, I left my expensive camera in the cabin on the way out. A couple of phone calls and filling in their online lost property form, resulted in me being reunited with my camera on my return to Plymouth. A big thank you to Brittany Ferries and their wonderful staff and crews.
A. H.
We like the special offers . But the onbroad shops are overpriced and a waste of space
R. F.
We always find it a pleasant and convenient way to travel to Brittany. Done most of the combinations of ports over the years, just choose one that best suits the final destination in Brittany. Staff on the boats always helpful and friendly.
R. G.
Can't fault them fast and efficient, although quite expensive
R. E.
Generally good service and comfortable cabins. This time they didn't come and get me when my car motion alarm went off so the battery was flat when I can to disembarque. This caused delay to other passengers, ( and distress to their poor animals in the cars overnight). Can't turn it off so expected to be called to turn it off. Also, about time they offered a vegetarian cooked breakfast option as they are not fairly catering for this increasing sector of society.
H.
Very nice ferry, clean and tidy . The food was reasonable as well. To make things easy for you, just take what you need into the cabins as they are very small.
G. L.
A pleasure to travel with Brittany Ferries. Check-in is very efficient and boarding easy, just consider that early arrival does not always guarantee you get on first! Once onboard the ship is clean, well stocked with food and drink and friendly staff. The cabins are clean and modern. Even if travelling during the day it's worth taking a cabin for a nothing more than £30 for a quiet place to relax, especially during heavy crossings.
J. P.
Trip home on the mont Saint Michel ship was great considering the weather. Staff helpful and friendly. Very large ship, cafe bars restaurant shops cinema. Smoking area outside.
F. S.
Used Brittany Ferries between Plymouth and Santander. Excellent service on a very nice ship
D. R.
It was awesome and seemless, apart from the fact that if you have someone who isn't disabled in a designated disability cabin, they won't swap cabins so that the disabled person can have the room. That was unbelievable.
But it was a good service overall and the staff are excellent.
P.
Hour late departing but arrived on time
M. F.
Really do enjoy sailing with Brittany Ferries. Traveling by a roll on roll off boat can be a bit like visiting your dentist, you know you have to but you'd really rather not. Their staff make it an enjoyable experience, and the food on the Plymouth to Roscoff route is always top notch.
We hired a cabin this time and it really made the trip much more enjoyable. All in all I'd highly recommend them.
D. H.
Great people great place working hard to give us a holiday! Many thanks
I. C. K. R.
The boat Pont Avent had recently returned to service after a fire and rudder issues so was not 100% happy travelling.
The boat is the bigger one of the fleet but it is now over 16 years old.
Despite the size there seemed to be a lack of eating particularly at lunch time when the restaurant was "closed"!
Inside cabins also a bit small for the price so value for money ???
Personal opinion.
L. G.
Lovely ship with everything you need for an overnight ferry. Shame about the seemingly regular delays and transfer of departure points. Portsmouth to Plymouth makes for a long trip when you're travelling from East England
l.
As always an excellent service, the ferries are always run very well and the crew are very nice
T. M.
Apart from technical problems for which we were compensated well for, the trip was an enjoyable one. Clean, comfortable cabin. Excellent meal in the main restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff.
G. B.
Wouldn't travel to France any other way.
M. M. M.
Brittany Ferries is a very convenient way to Travel from Plymouth UK, to Roscoff France.
The Service is Second to None. Tickets are easily booked online through Brittany Ferries.
And There is a price comparison according to what date you travel, the Duration and Times. As the Journey is quite long, Approximately 8-Hours, one can book a cabin for the Journey there. Mine cost me £21:00p.
Parking on the Ferry is well organised, and one can is guided by the car park attendants.
On board of the Ferry is about two Restaurants, a bar for Refreshments, including tea, coffee and Alcoholic drinks.
There are many seating areas onboard and outside of the ship in the open air, one can take photographs of anything Interesting at Port and in the open sea.
Also on Board are Two gift shops that sell Souvenirs, Drunks, sweets and Perfume.
There are also Two Cinema's to watch the Latest Movie Releases, that you can book Prior to each movie's Showing.
There are Love Lifts that take you to Different Levels of the ship, and also to the floor of were your cabin is situated.
Also, There is a Reception Area, if you need any Help. Overall, a Good Sailing Experience and Journey.
D. J.
Clean and relatively good journey both from Plymouth to Roscoff as well as Bilbao to Portsmouth. We found that the longer journey meant persons had to have cabins, this results in a lot more space around the ship.
A family of four sharing a cabin was ok, the bathroom is a good size and the shower too. There was a bit of damage to a storage pocket on the bunks which annoyingly scratched my phone. Food was good, we did take quite a few extras with us as well to keep costs down.
A. F.
Smooth,professional ferry embarking operation.
Note toilets on right just after vehicle check in gate, it is OK to pull right and then rejoin embarkation. Operations in all weathers are always helpful.Just don't be late.
P.
We used the Portsmouth to Santander Etretat ferry which was ok, but our cabin was basic and not very comfortable for the money paid.
The staff were nice and the food/service was excellent.
B. C.
You need a Ferry to Portugal 🇵🇹 now.
The best way to travel to Spain.
D. P.
Plymouth Brittany Ferries is like a favourite friend you like seeing and hearing about and 'a friend in need'. Great service and I need to use again and again to get to my 2nd home in Brittany. We have used BF for 15 yrs and as we have property in France we are members of their property owners club to which we have mass savings when using for travelling from home to home. The only 'bug bear' I have is the food. There use to be sandwiches American jambon you could get, and snacks, now its just one main area serving hot food, and supermarket type sandwiches, when you use to do the proper baggette type sandwiches with the dried tomatoes.
Will always use you as you are our local port. Easy to get to weather you live in Cornwall of Birmingham.
C. G.
Always a pleasure travelling with Brittany Ferries. Plenty of places to sit, including a quiet reading room, self service restaurant, with a good selection of food and drink, and other bars. We normally have a cabin where, if you suffer from sea sickness, you can... well you can imagine what.
J. W.
Very clean & tidy, cabin a bit cramped. Food & drink good & quite inexpensive. Brittney can't do much about the weather, wife was poorly. I had to sit at the bar with a bottle of wine and check on our dog in the Kennels 😄
R. H.
Excellent ferry service to Santander but disappointed to have our return altered to Plymouth instead of Portsmouth, especially when it took more than 2 hrs of car queuing to get through customs and another 40 mins to get thru Plymouth to the A38. Rather spoilt the Brittany Ferries experience. It seems the Plymouth immigration services totally incapable of handling the volume of traffic generated by a ferry the size of The Pont Aven. Took for ever to check our passports even when we arrived at the window. If this is normal service then goodness what will happen with more rigorous passport checks after brexit, certainly will need to provide availability of toilet facilities etc.
Makes me think flying and car hire becoming a more sensible, if less preferred, option.
K. A.
Great ferry service, clean comfortable cabins, we even had a complimentary basket of fruit, and macaroons. Good selection of food in self service diner
D. S.
The mini cruise to Santander was lovely. There were several hiccups though. It was also quite expensive and there was no food included whereas other cruises included 3 meals per day for a fraction of the cost extra.
R. T.
Well run car and passenger ferry company providing a link between Plymouth and Roscoff. Spacious, modern ship offers a self-service restaurant, bars and shop, as well as a large number of cabins and seating areas.
m. s.
Santander to Plymouth. Traffic jams everywhere trying to leave Plymouth, due to roadworks. Otherwise a restful way of returning from Spain without the long drive up through France, probably cheaper if you count petrol and overnight stay and channel ferry.
M. T.
Good overnight crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff. The lady at check-in got her nose out of joint because I'd forgotten to sign the dog's passport.Jobsworth. Unnecessary.
Otherwise a comfortable night, surprisingly quiet cabin.
S. N.
Very clean cabins, friendly staff and a reasonable choice in shopping areas. Not a great selection in the self service food restaurant. We crossed Plymouth to Roscoff ran like a well oiled machine
J. F. C.
The service is good, but unreliable. They might cancel or postpone the trip. This is very annoying. Everything else is good and of top quality. Mind you that if you stay in the cheapest section, the seats, be prepared to hear the worse snores you will ever hear!
M. O.
A Excellent Ferry service to France and Spain but check travelling cross times and routes and also try and book before hand but you will always get a welcoming smile.
S. F.
Nice French restaurant with great food. Well appointed ship. Good kennel accommodation for dogs. Small but adequate cabins.
M. S. L.
on the first crossing we weren't allowed room behind the car to open the boot even though we had previously asked for it so we had to climb through the car to get our stuff. upon arrival in the room there was a hair in our sink and a lollipop stick on the floor. the journey back was chaos the whole night we could hear something rolling around underneath us and when we asked what it was we were greeted with a rude response of well if you have a complaint put it in the feedback form which I doubt they'll read. the breakfast was over priced for saying it was awful all in all this is the worst journey I've had with Brittany ferries all other times have been delightful I don't know what went wrong
M. G.
Very efficient and easy check in , be prepared for a wait before boarding. Armorique very clean , well designed, for less vibration and quieter engine noise sit forward.
Term time much more space , great food reasonably priced, superb coffee . Relax in the no mobile reading area - space to stretch out. Or catch a film in the cinema.
D. D.
Fab - comfy beds and onboard bars, cafes and restaurants at affordable prices. Entertainment also provided in the form of live acts and cinema. Cabins clean and warm in winter. Love travelling on Brittany Ferries.
P. P.
Great ferry company. Food on board is excellent, staff helpful, rooms clean. The only criticism is the Wi-Fi internet access which is quite poor. A minor quibble! Overall it's a great service. Highly recommended
B. -. M.
We love sailing with Brittany Ferries.
Great service and comfortable cabins for the night sailings, or to get so quiet on a day crossing.
P. H.
From Santander to Plymouth, ferry is more like a cruise liner. Pont Avon was the ferry. Unfortunately for me, the ferry was delayed 2 hours at departure and lost another hour on the crossing, meant I missed my connecting train at Plymouth. Had to stay overnight and then purchase more tickets the day after , previous tickets non refundable. Now to see if there is any compensation. At over 3 hours there should be, but docked just on 3 hours delay. Convenient
4 stars for the ferry, superb, 1 star for timing.
A. W.
Good reliable service on the Plymouth to Roscoff crossing. Definitely get a cabin both ways even if you are travelling during the day as there is not enough on board to keep the kids occupied constantly during the crossing
D. S.
Superb service. Clean cabins. Very very slick and professional. If you think the food prices are too high just bring your own.
We will be regular day trippers.
S. P.
I have been travelling on Brittany Ferries sometimes twice yearly for the last twenty five years and been extremely pleased with service from the crew and have enjoyed the evenings with the live music surrounded by very happy holiday makers.
D. C.
In my opinion the 19 hour crossing is easier than the 16 hour drive through France. Would be nice if you could get WiFi in the cabins.
C. S.
Received notification of 4 hour delay after we commenced journey. Could let travelers know earlier
T. Y.
Always a pleasure travelling with Brittany Ferries. Comfortable and nice on board. Not the cheapest but worth every penny.
J. T.
I love Brittany Ferries but this is the ferryport that time forgot. It does the job but modern airports and larger rail terminals leave this place really showing its age. It has a small independent shop that sells snacks and drinks. Whilst it feels like a staff canteen or school tuck shop and the range is limited, staff are very friendly and prices are fair. There is a bureau de change adjoining the check-in desk and also a separate one nearby. Otherwise, it's just a rectangular space with lots and lots of seats, a TV and a small outdoor area overlooking the port.
R. B.
Overnight to Roscoff. All the staff were great, the ferry was clean and set off and arrived exactly on time. Despite pouring rain in Plymouth the crossing was the smoothest we've had.
J. W.
Our 3rd trip so far this year and another one soon. We find the Armorique and Pont Aven very comfortable for a trip across the channel. Brittany ferries set's very high standards in all departments. Well done crew, well done Brittany ferries.
a. v.
We love Brittany Ferries. Excellent value for money. Well worth becoming a club member. Staff are friendly and efficient making you feel safe and secure.
D. O.
They make a short hope across the water from Plymouth to Roscoff feel like a cruise. Good facilities, food, entertainment, bars, cabins and nice staff. Roscoff is a lovely French town as well.
J. d. b.
The staff did very well in difficult weather conditions so I understand the delay in leaving Plymouth and disembarking at Roscoff. The staff are very chearful and help to make voyage pleasant. This is a challenging part of the year, of course. Félicitations à l'équipe de l'Amorique.
U. K.
Would definitely use this route again. Portsmouth to Santander and Santander to Plymouth. Lovely ship. Wasn't expensive for drinks or meals. Excellent entertainment. Would recommend.
P. Q.
Had a 5 HR delay boarding but all was good when we eventually loaded and got going, lovely smooth crossing but very late arrival in Santander.
J. J.
Great ferry service, very professional staff. Use it every year for holidays. Always runs on time, clean modern cabins, good restaurant.
L. P.
Following a booking mistake where the wrong date was issued a lady from the Plymouth office called Sue was most helpful and managed to rearrange our sailing quickly and efficiently; we are most grateful to Brittany Ferries for their speedy response and helpful telephone manner. I would readily book again with this company.
p.
Always good service, they look after bikers well.
m. l.
I frequently use brittany ferries for family visits and shopping trips. The facilities are good and the restaurant has great food unfortunately the price unless you are going on a day trip is extortionate and for extending a trip from one to three days would triple the cost
P. B.
Feel that my rating could be governed by the calmness, or otherwise, of the crossing. Very calm crossing. The food is reasonably priced and the ship is clean and in good condition.
J. S.
Having travelled with Brittany ferries for over 20 years I have found them excellent the ferry whether to Santander or Roscof is part of my holiday . Good food and lovely boats .
P. B.
Decent. Cabins a small but the beds are comfy and the shower is good. Nice lounge/cafe. Would recommend.
H. M.
Plymouth to Santander and back, on Pont Aven. Smooth and easy to arrange, and also embarking/disembarking: smooth crossings both ways, comfortable cabin and good on-board facilities. Enjoyable, would do this again.
J. W.
Ship was excellent and cabin too, good wifi in cabins would be a nice touch and better signage to the microwave would have made the breakfast experience better but all in all very good..
H. F.
Fantastic
M. R.
Good service, a play area for the kids, friendly and helpful staff. Would be 5 stars but once parked up in the ferry there was VERY little room to negotiate the vehicles.
G. T.
Service is always great on Brittany ferries, and the food inboard is good and well priced. We also liked the cinema. We had a club plus cabin and it was great. One negative: our cabin had a dvd player offering free dvd hire from reception. When i got there a snooty lady told me a need a passport to hire one (they werent exactly new either). I didnt have one so i offered payment as deposit, but she wouldn't accept it. Despite me pointing out the dvd was probably worth £15, and i could offer much more. After pointing out this illogic she said she'd accept my watch. I don't think so, it was damn expensive. As i say it is only the one negative, but i was so flabbergasted i felt compelled to share it. Overall i do really like sailing with them.
L. W.
Huge boat great journey - they try and entertain you - good weather on crossing so got out on deck - food and drink on the expensive side- can use pounds or euros
g. w.
, This is the only way to travel to Spain weve gone Plymouth to Santander 4 times it is so relaxing the whole experience is second to none the ship, the cabins the entertainment , the pool, and the friendly staff cannot do enough for you .O the food WOW if you like paella mmmmm and if you're lucky you can see the dolphins
j. p.
Five years of good experience
D. J.
If you want to travel over to Spain or France on a cheaper budget but at the sane time get entertainment and booze whilst traveling there.... Brittany Ferries is the company to go with. It's also cheaper than flying... win win
K. E.
Went from Plymouth to Roscoff on the Armorique. Ferry was very clean and staff pleasant. Good choice of meals in the restaurant and very reasonably priced.
K. G.
My first choice company for ferry travel.
Sailed back to Spain on sun on Pont aven a big cruise ferry and everything was spot on even got to see whales and dolphins on the approach to santander
A. M.
This route is far better than Bilbao. Nice ship
K. D.
Beautiful clean ferry. We slept on the floir in sleeping bags but it was still a lovely quiet cosy enviroment and the showers were right in situ. Whole experience was lovely
L. M.
Thank you Brittany ferries for still running during this mad time .......staff very helpful trying to maintain some kind of normality foe a holiday 👍
d. b.
Good ferry service. Shame it's all about making money out of you. Vending machines by the restaurant aren't always working. Drink vending machines on deck 5 always seem to be empty
I. B.
This isn't a place it's a ferry, plymouth to roscoff and return. Dont be fooled by duty free prices coz all of it is cheaper online..staff are friendly and helpful and most of the time it's a good crossing, weather permitting....
J. L.
Excellent ferries. We always use the Plymouth Roscoff ferry, and find the cabins excellent, and the journeys comfortable.
c. n.
i find the pricing structure changes far too drastically month by month, and should give a better menu choice for people with allergies like dairy produce.
If you have an allergy take your own food
as for the english breakfast, it is not... hash browns and heavy on the garlic sausage
spoils it, if you bite into the sausage have a tissue ready to spit into
J. B.
Always a wonderful crossing!!
J. M. M.
Monopolised ferry service to Bilbao & Santander in Spain & ports in France..expensive travel...well for me as, iv'e done many return trips over a few years..you can get a discount if your a regular traveller..more than 3 times a year but you have to pay money up front each year so the discount becomes virtually pointless..fairly expensive on board too..3 ships as i know of..weekly returns..ships vary from cruise with entertainment etc to economical with no attractions & more basic..very busy throughout year..book early as possible..especially if you want a 2 birth cabin..they get snapped up quickly.
Departing ports from uk to Spain..Portsmouth & Plymouth..France..Poole & Weymouth in Dorset.
E. R.
Cabins were ok, the entertainment was good and nice bar area. Pretty rubbish that you pay a lot of money but yet have to pay for wifi still lol I would of though after paying over $800 I would at least get free wifi
R. W.
Very efficient service. Does what it says on the tin.. Gets you fast to Roscoff with a good clean cabin and tasty food. The shop is a rip off, but I guess you'd expect that!
A. O.
quick and easy boarding, weather was unfavourable but the rest of the trip and crossing was great. friendly staff and food is great and affordable.
B. B.
11 hours from Plymouth to Roscoff, including nearly 4 hours treading water outside the harbour is not good enough. Other than that, Armorique is a nice enough ship, newer than many others in the fleet, but missing a full-service restaurant.
A. R.
Always a pleasure to travel with Brittany ferries, especially aboard the Pont Aven. It was lovely this time to have longer to enjoy all she has to offer!
A. B.
Watch the phone charges onboard. A really unpleasant surprise to the start of a holiday
M. O.
Recently visited Brittany with my family and we travelled with Brittany Ferries, was very enjoyable, but if I had to choose, I probably wouldn't travel by boat! :D
A. H.
Plymouth terminal lacks facilities, no food or drink available, toiles in portacabin but clean, however the ferry is great.
S.
Great service from Roscoff to Plymouth
F. D.
Clean and comfortable cabins. Staff are all English speaking and helpful. Beats flying every time. The holiday begins the minute you step on board.
K. D.
First time on one of those and really enjoyed it, food was good and reasonable, very clean, staff friendly, had large double room on way out and small double on way back and would go for the large double gives you that bit extra room.
S. X.
It's a decent ferry. Shame the cinema charged as Stena is free, but food is tasty and the lounge seats comfortable.
B. P.
Our preferred way of getting to France, always clean welcoming and comfortable. Simply love traveling with Brittany Ferries.
R. L.
We travelled on our holiday to France, it was clean and quiet and we had a cabin that was useful for the family. We will be using them again this year to go on our summer holiday
C. L.
Great trip to travel with
J. H. (.
OK but expensive for velomobiles! The only ferry company that doesn't accept velomobiles as bikes. Cabins dated and don't have any emergency call system.
M. J. S. A.
The best ship ever it’s mv Armorique I like it so much and the restaurant is amazing as like the Tesco food in Exeter st Thomas and cabins are nice car deck nice it’s the best
R. O.
Living in Plymouth, it is only 6 hours crossing to Roscoff and we are in Brittany and all its Bretton culture. Could be better if they allowed our dog on deck.
V. A.
Only sailed once with Brittany ferries and became a tad rough pricey but sometimes you've got to pay for the moving bed
D. C. M.
I've been using Brittany Ferries to take my group of 50 tourism management students across to Roscoff every October since 2009 from Plymouth University. In 2012 I discovered the 60-hour crossing and so we have been staying in cabins on-board the ferry then 2 nights in the Hôtel Régina. The hotel is right next to the rail station, la gare SNCF in the little town of Roscoff, giving us easy access to Morlaix and Saint-Pol-de-Léon.
I wish Brittany Ferries would provide a shuttle for its foot passengers into the town, to connect with the Regina and the railway station.
f. n. l. n.
Gets you to France for cheap! Does the job
L. J.
Good service with a variety of options to get to France and Spain, prices can be high at peak times even with their club voyage membership but can't fault the service or staff, both are excellent.
J. R.
Amazing onboard entertainment! So gooood. They also make you feel safe with all the Covid -19 measures in place
J. E. (. c.
Fantastic staff at Brittany Ferries. My daughter left her blankey in the cabin on our way to Riscoff and they found it and kept it for us until we got home. Thank you Brittany ferries ❤
G. F.
Cabins on Pont Aven are small. Food in the restaurants is poor
M. D.
Journey was smooth cruise departed on time and arrived on schedule. Prices was a bit high during peak times, but would use again nevertheless.
n. t. (.
Always great food. Professional beautiful people willing to help. Efficient and kind. Book ahead to get what you need.
P. W.
Great company. Never had a bad time and used Plymouth to Roscoff maybe 20+ times? Highly recommended.
G. T.
I love the ferry. It's like a mini holiday at the start and end of the main holiday...and the food is amazing.
N. F.
Love sailing with this company, not been disappointed in over 20 years with many calm and stormy seas always professional and excellent customer service.
P. W.
Clean comfortable and really enjoyable way to crossbthe channel, although the prices charged for breakfast were greater than the expected closed shop price hike
G. D. P.
Good service aboard. But delayed due to French strikes. Helpfull staff. Good crossing. Long wait to leave dock through customs.
A. R.
Beer quiet expensive although we had a good night sleep. Very organised and clean cabins.
D. X.
Food from the cafeteria is very expensive, cabins are functional but comfortable. Loading and disembarking was quick and efficient
J. R.
The best way to cross the channel. Plenty of sailings, nice clean ships, decent food, what more could you want ?
a. h.
Great ferry company, we have travelled with them many times, ferries very clean and cabin very comfortable.
D. P.
Took me all the way to France. France is a large country in Europe. It has a very very long and proud history, including Charlemagne and Napoleon Bonaparte. The current president of France is also the co-prince of Andorra, which not everyone knows.
b. L.
Very helpful with suggestions
S. S.
Plymouth boarding facilities, are difficult and awkward.
Although the staff do everything possible to help. It is not a good experience to start your trip.
m. m.
Great travel
S. H.
Great trip. Did it with my wife and 2 boys, during covid. No probs. 😊
C. M.
Great service! Thanks for our journey!
D. S.
No shampoo in cabin, had to ask for towels, Brexit affected the good function of the service...
K. W.
Love the ferry cause it always means holiday time. Never experienced delays. Good service on board
J. D.
The crossing itself isn't what I'm reviewing, more the staff and service. Went by motorbike, and the bike ended up damaged by scraping against support pillars. Complained to the guy strapping it down who just shrugged and walked off. Minimal respect for their work.
M. T.
Best ferry company on the Channel, been using it for over 40 years, clean and efficient service.
G. M.
Excellent service and great relaxing crossings to France. Resteraunt choice is very good, nice selection to choose from on the menu.
J. M.
Fantastic professional service. Great trip with good food and drink.
J.
Our faverite ferry crossing, good service ship always clean. Nice resterant great food.
T. I.
Used ferry service regularly and always a pleasure. Get a room, well worth it.
D. G.
What a great surprise, Brilliant room with all you need in a smallish space. Very efficient company. Thanks BF.
T. B.
Haven't been on ferry for several years but always
found it excellent.
J. S.
Excellent cabin. Could be better at placing us near lift, had to struggle between vehicles with disabled.
J. C.
Just back from a short break with them. Enjoyed it immensely and had a cabin both ways. Clean and tidy.
S. R.
One of the nicer cross-channel ferry operators, wish they had more premium cabins on board.
B. S.
Saves driving through France, Portsmouth to Bilbao with our dog. Love the trip.
M. C.
Very professional ferry service. Bretagne a good ferry, but my preference has to be the Armorique.
y. a. c.
Surprisingly the experience on the way to Plymouth was alot better.
J. M.
Great service for getting across the channel in style, inexpensive menu and cinema, bit worried about declining cleanliness as ferry bosses try to optimise profits at the expense of employees
I. R.
Loads tofo pn board. Cinamas, quiz, whale and shark watching. Good food and drink. Shops. Good staff. Cabin was comfy.
D. B.
BF also means Best Ferry, always attentive crew, quality ships, and rarely off schedule.
C. S.
Very well organised and never had a problem with the service received. Bit expensive on the ferry but you kind of expect that.
P. M.
Boarding process is a little slow, however a good all round service. Restaurant not great considering the French culinary reputation.
G. T.
Friendly staff and crew.
Always good service and very efficient boarding and disembark. Thank you Brittany Ferries.
I. R.
Small but easy use ferry port.
R. B.
Good ferry. Well looked after and pleasant staff. Food basic.
P. D.
Excellent in all aspects apart from car deck where they insist on tight parking when the boat is only 60% full
B. K.
Lovely crossing, so easy to take the car
M. H.
Easy way to get to France with an overnight stay. Don't forget to turn your mobile data off as you will get a big charge
R. N.
Best way to travel, much more civilised than flying, the food is amazing and the staff are always really helpful and polite.
R. E.
All good. No problems. Remember to pack a bag for the crossing, as access closed to vehicle deck.
A. H.
Great start to get to France. Nice cabin and good food.
N. D.
Great way to travel to Spain, very organised company, fab food and service in the main restaurant, highly recommended.
J. C.
Friendly staff, fast and efficient. They could do with extra cleaners on the crossing, it was rather messy towards the end of the end voyage
G. S.
Love the convenience of having a ferry on my doorstep. Good service and pleasant journey
S. V.
Clean and tidy, pleasant staff, shame about choice of food on the menus even in the restaurant but all very tasty
M. K.
A very civilized way to travel. Much slower than by air, but the opposite of Ryanair.
K. G.
Did the job if a little slow. Engine trouble. Little expensive on drinks and food, but not an outright rip off.
Z. A.
Fantastic company, Great service but insane price for on board premium Wifi ... I cant understand why i should pay 17 gbp for internet Wifi !!!!
P. L.
One of the roughest crossings I've had but managed to hold on to my breakfast! Crew all very professional and faultless.
R. F.
Quite slow for disembarkation due to only two passport booths being open but, very friendly and welcoming staff.
c. s.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, great atmosphere and safe sailing everytime
C. H.
Friendly attentive staff, good food, comfortable accommodation. An excellent service as always
J. C. G.
Good deals on low peak season . Crossing accommodation quality depending of ships but always satisfying.
C. B.
Arrived on time and there was a fault with our cabin so we got upgraded.
M. H.
Good boat very pleased with it allexcept the directions on the boat for car .good entertainment bar right price.
J. H.
Best way to cross the channel to France with a French flavour and good routes for anyone living on the West of England.
J. M.
Loved it
D. D.
Great services, good food, really enjoyed my trip, thank you
J. R.
From the moment we got there the staff were lovely and very helpful. We had a great time and will definitely be going again
R. H.
From booking through check in, to boarding very easy and straightforward. Cabin comfortable and quiet.
M. C.
As regular users we can't really fault them. Our favourite ship being the MV Cap Finisterre.
B. H.
A tad over priced but you get good and bad staff that get you there. Use sterling on board as exchange rate is terrible.
C. D.
Friendly service. We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices in the restaurant for such good, tasty food.
R. 1.
Clean, comfortable cabin. Nice that they are noticeably using less plastic 👍🙂
A. “.
We travel with Brittany Ferries every year England to Spain and they never had led us down!!
D. G.
Very good and quick to get through customs
V. A.
Nice trip
A. T.
Sail from my local port of Plymouth. Staff always friendly and helpful, from booking to arrival and all points between.
T. G.
On time, comfortable ferry with excellent service on board.
C.
Great crossing! If only the plane and train had been this easy to transport our bikes!
e. l.
What can I say? I hate it when there is a swell at sea, felt a bit rough at times {sick} however the cabin was OK
I. S.
Fabulous service and value for money. Cabins were special and spotlessly clean
M. W.
Excellent cruise service to Spain. Friendly staff and good food
R. C.
We had An excellent trip to Roscoff in July 2017. Can recommend the crossing.

Clean and beds were ok. Food expensive and they could do with signposting things a bit better.
K. O.
Love this company, comfortable cabins, great food. Good routes.

C. P.
Friendly staff, driving out of the Roscoff port easy less busy than other ports.
G. I.
Fantastic ferries, staff brilliant but very expensive to travel
j. p.
Ok but far too expensive on board and only coffee machine open if you cannot sleep.so perhaps they should think about that.
R. W.
J'adore but needs new technology to make ships faster
B. W.
Loading was a bit of a chore, our reserve seats were taken when we went for food. Seats a bit hard
p. B.
Very easy boarding qn pleasant journey
