My daughter and I recently enjoyed a Brewtown gin tour. Mark was an excellent host/tour guide taking us through the lovely Yorkshire countryside to the various distillers. A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to of been bought a "gin tour" for my birthday. My sister came along with me, we met up with Mark, who was our wonderful host, and another 4 ladies who were all out for an educational gin afternoon! The tour was great, we went around 3 distilleries, all very different but each one interesting in it's own right. Mark was our driver and host and made sure we had a fun time in between each distillery, providing us with interesting facts and a laugh along the way. I would recommend this tour to anyone who not only likes gin and Yorkshire but also wants to find out about the different methods of production and the stories behind each distillery.

What a fun and interesting way to spend an afternoon. Our tour guide, Mark, has chosen three varied places to visit - all very different and exciting beers to taste, and we got a tour of a brewery with a lesson on the brewing process. I loved the coffee and coconut beers from North Brewing Co, and the nettle and gooseberry beer at Northern Monk was delicious - fresh and fruity. Pies, ribs and chocolate brownies at Leeds brewery were a very welcome treat to try alongside the beers - chocolate and stout is a fab combination! I'd thoroughly recommend it, and it would make an ideal gift for anyone who likes beer!

Brewtown Tour is a great way to spend an afternoon in the Leeds / York area. You get to visit 3 different breweries that offer a unique experience.You get to leant about history, the brewing process and how different beers get their distinctive colours and flavours. We sampled 3 or 4 beers in each brewery, and the last place also paired specific foods with their beer to enhance the enjoyment. We met the brewers who were fascinating and some of the most enthusiastic people you could imagine. The transport was a comfortable Mercedes and the guide, Mark, made the trip a lot of fun as well as educational.

When I heard about the unique Brewery Tours that Mark Stredwick from Brewtown Tours offers, I jumped at the opportunity to visit some local micro brewery's and sample some of Yorkshire finest brews. The booking process was simple and before i knew it, Mark had emailed out all the information I needed to ensure I made the starting line in good shape. The tour started off by meeting other beer lovers and Mark quickly made every feel at ease with a very thoughtful introduction round which made the trip to the first brewery go by quickly. I was very impressed with Mark's local knowledge and of especially the brewery's we were visiting. Each of the Brewers on site were extremely passionate of their trade and gave us an in-depth insight into the making of their beers. The standout for me on the afternoon was the opportunity to sample various types of beers. My taste buds were truly exercised and i would have to say as a lager drinker, i may have been converted on the day. As a result of this tour, i now find myself better educated and curious to try new beers according to the preferred tastes i experienced on the tour. The tour was superb, i would highly recommend Mark and Brewtown Tours to anyone wanting a unique Yorkshire beer tasting experience.

I am a brewer at the Jolly Sailor Brewery in Selby and took our apprentice and a guest who was training with us along on Mark's Brew Town Tours. The tours were fascinating for me to see how other breweries work, are laid out, and operate but also to make connections. They complimented the technical and creative aspects of learning to brew for our apprentice, and showcased some of North Yorkshire's great beer producers for our guest. Mark is a funny and charismatic host and all the brewers you meet will share their ideas, passion and philosophies with you in their own unique style. There are plenty of tasty beers and snacks and depending on which tour you are on may even get the chance for food pairing and flavour analysis. Brewers, ale afficionardos, people just wanting something different to do will all have a good time and learn a little bit of something along the way...great work Mark!

Gin tour exceeded my expectations! A brilliant day out, tasting some truly beautiful gins and learning a lot about the process and the interesting people who have started these craft distilleries from scratch as complete beginners. Booked as an anniversary present for my husband, and we were joined by his brother and sis in law. Our guide Mark picked us up straight from our accommodation. He was a really great guy, really friendly and made us instantly feel relaxed and welcome and was full of local knowledge. We visited Rudgate, Yorkshire Heart and Ainsty Ales. Each brewery offered something different and the guides were really friendly and full of knowledge. All offering a range of beers to try and they really were 3 very unique and thoroughly interesting breweries. It was a fab day and we would highly recommended to anyone interested in beer, brewing or even just York itself. A thoroughly enjoyable day out. I think it’s fair to say we didn’t really know what to expect as we waited outside the Queens hotel in Leeds for Mark to pick us up, but we ended up having a great time. We did 3 breweries - 2 in unassuming-looking industrial units (which were both very cool), the other at a converted victorian building just outside Leeds city centre. The day was the perfect balance of education/entertainment/drinking. I’ve done brewery tours before but much preferred format this as you got more variety - both in terms of venue and also beers. You get 3/4 1/3rd pint beers at each stop - some breweries specialise in cask ales, others in craft beer. By the end of the day you have a decent amount of insight into to merits of each, without ever being overloaded with information and without your glass ever running dry. Mark is a genial and enthusiastic host, and shares a passion for beer with the brewery folk you meet throughout the day. I’d highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in a) drinking beer, b) brewing beer or c) independent local businesses.

Had the pleasure to do some market research for Bee Social Marketing as part of my apprenticeship. Went on a Brewtown Tours brewery tours in Leeds and it was an fascinating experience. Our brilliant host Mark took the group to 3 different breweries across Garfoth and Leeds: NORTHERN MONK BREW Co. Quirky Ales North Brewing Co Offering a unique drive-through experience which I have not seen before. Tasting a variety of drinks in each brewery. Insightful and inspiring talks from the owners and workers about the inside of a brewery. Talks about the drinks and their origin. Learning about the industry and the great craftsmanship behind the drinks we buy. I would definitely recommend this to anyone! Would be a great Christmas present, a birthday gift or to try something different.

I arrange a group tour for myself and seven friends. Some of my friends were mainly lager drinkers and were a little dubious prior to going on the trip. I would like to thank you Mark for a superb experience. All of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was a unique experience and we found it to be very informative. Got in the van promptly from York, Mark lead introductions as we sped off to Leeds. We got a tour of a brewery with a history of ale and beer, a led tasting from a head brewer, and a lesson on pairing ales with foods and why they work, and a variety of samples. The day was finished at 6 and I feel confident being able to talk beer properly with anyone. The ales were varied, challenging, and mostly damn right delicious. Having the rest of Saturday evening felt like a bonus after what felt like a very full day.

I met Mark from Brewtown by chance on Wednesday morning in the York Tap at York railway station where he was meeting up with a couple who were doing his tour. I had just arrived from Glasgow for 3 days and was trying to work out how I was going to spend my visit. Mark was friendly and very knowledgeable and I liked him instantly, so much that I asked for information on his tours and for a card. Later that day, again by chance, I met Mark and the couple at York Brewery as I was just about to go on their tour. I took the opportunity to sign up for yesterday's tour (Friday) to Rudgate Brewery, Yorkshire Heart and Ainsty Ales. Mark was informative and entertaining from the the first moment to the last when he dropped us off at Brew York for a final beer and a chat with the great group that I had joined up with. If you have an interest in real ales or craft beer (or even if you haven't but would like to learn!) join Mark on one of his tours! You will *not* be disappointed! Mark will take you to some unusual spots off the beaten track and introduce you to the (quirky) faces behind the fantastic beers that North Yorkshire has to offer, including the wonderful Hop On Board from Rudgate that I had the pleasure of drinking on my Virgin Trains East Coast train back to Edinburgh last night!

Really enjoyed the Brewery Tour with Mark, who is a really knowledgable chap with lots of knowledge and is easy to speak too. It's obvious that every moment in this tour has been considered, which really helps the day flow. The breweries themselves were venues I would normally never know about or consider that I could visit. On the York tour, Half Moon Brewery was great for the finding out about not only how the beers they make are made and why they are the way they are, but their pairing activities were really, really enjoyable and applicable to other venues. The Hop Studios has some really fantastic beers and reinforced what we'd already learned and I walked way with a few bottles of Vanilla Porter. Ending up at York Brewery rounded off the day on an informative high and a relaxing time in a quiet but very special member's bar.

A bitterly cold day but this didn't prevent us from having a very interesting day. I went on the Brewtown tour yesterday with my son. We were picked up at York station as arranged and had a relaxed afternoon visiting 3 breweries (Mark also diverted to show us a 4th that although closed was one to visit in the future) and sampled the wares in each of them ( a varied selection and plenty to drink ). At one of the breweries after being shown the plant and hearing an explanation of processes were were treated to food pairing with different beers (by then the nibbles were welcomed). A very interesting trip which caters for all levels from the beer enthusiast to anyone who drinks beer and wants to try some good quality beer in a relaxed scenario. The countryside is beautiful and we passed through some lovely villages. A very interesting and enjoyable afternoon.

This was a great way to see some of the smaller, more remote breweries and have proper tasting sessions without having to drag along a bored designated driver! The selection of breweries showed a range of different scales of operation (for smaller speciality brewers) in different settings and a good variety of types of beer. Mark is very knowledgeable about beer and brewing, genuinely enthusiastic and easygoing; he is an ideal guide for this type of tour. The minibus was clean, comfortable and well driven, and the complementary water and crisps onboard a nice touch. Will certainly do again!

(Translated) Ingenious excursion for beer connoisseurs & those who would like to become one! Really great, educational and entertaining at the same time! Using a comfortable minibus, we visited three small breweries in the York area. We were warmly welcomed everywhere and the master brewers introduced us to the world of brewing with great passion. To a good shot, we were allowed to taste from refreshing lager to flavorful IPA (or APA) to dark beer with a rhubarb aroma. It was great to feel the passion with which the master brewers and our tour guide Mark, who impressed us with his extensive knowledge, do their job. The fact that the excursion took us through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside was an added bonus. We'll definitely come back and check out one of the other tours offered by Brewtown Tours! (Original) Genialer Ausflug für Bierkenner & welche die es gerne werden wollen! Echt toll, lehrreich und unterhaltsam zugleich! Mittels komfortablen Minibus haben wir drei kleine Brauereinen im Umkreis von York besucht. Wir wurden allerorts herzlich empfangen und die Braumeister haben uns jeweils mit viel Leidenschaft in die Welt des Brauens eingeführt. Zu guter Schuss durften wir von erfrischenden Lager über geschmackstarke IPA (oder APA) bis hin zu dunklem Bier mit Rhabarber Aroma verkosten. Es war grossartig zu spüren mit wieviel Passion die Braumeister sowie unser Tourguide Mark, welcher uns mit seinem umfassenden Wissen beindruckt hat, ihren Job ausführen. Dass uns der Ausflug durch die wunderschöne Landschaft von Yorkshire geführt hat, war ein zusätzliches Plus. Wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder und testen eine der anderen Touren von Brewtown Tours aus!
