We were led around the city by Clive, who was in turn engaging, funny, and open and friendly. The tour itself was a great blend of historical tour and ghost stories that are entwined into the very architecture of the city. It’s also a fabulous way to explore more of the city and discover corners you might miss just following the key sites. It’s the perfect length of time too, and flew by. Would highly recommend for anyone!

Would definitely recommend! Our ghost walk was held by Mark, was very interesting learning about some of the history with York but also some great ghost stories. Good length of time to walk around. Mark got to know everyone who was in the group and made it more personal. Was just great!

On our 2 day visit to York wanted to go on a ghost walk , there are a few different ones , but this one claimed to be the original one. Met outside I think the king's pub , and to my surprise the amount of people there was huge, didn't expect that many, the guy was very good and his telling of the stories that had happened in the past at certain landmarks was very good , well worth the £7.50.

We are not really ghost believers as such, but thought this would be a fun way to spend an hour on our recent stay in York. We were not disappointed! What a thoroughly entertaining guide of the York streets. The guide was very informative, with lots of historical facts and tales of past misdeeds, delivered in a eccentric and suspenseful manner, which added to the fun. The hour passed far too quickly. Disappointed! It stated on website it was open but when we got there it was closed due to medical emergency. I know these things can't be helped. We have done this ghost walk before with friends over from the States & the guide was fantastic, just in York for the weekend with friends & we'd raved about the walk. Better luck next time for us.

Very good tour and very polite I can’t remember the name of the guide but was very talkative to people in between the stops and told many stories and took us places we would never of seen on a normal visit,would definitely recommend when stopping in York and would also recommend the wide range of local beers in the kings arms before hand which is a cash only and no electronic devices pub which is very good for them to encourage conversation and that’s what we did with other people who was also waiting on the ghost walk

Looking for an alternative history of the area with tales of ghosts and hauntings then you should definitely consider this ghost walk. Taking around an hour and a half you're guided around the famous streets of York like the shambles by a very enthusiastic storyteller.

Knowledgeable guide, didn’t see any ghosts. Gentle meander through the historic streets of York with reference to tales of local sightings of various ghosts. Birthplace of guy falkes too who was educated at nearby St. Peter’s school. Worth booking if you don’t find anything else to do.

Managed to book the only available slot whilst visiting York. 2 tickets for £15 (1h 15m tour). Very well organised, loads of local stories, funny in places, would recommend as a great start to the night. Well worth the money. Book early as does get busy. Wrap up warm too. Recommend

This was one of the best things that i did in York throughout our stay. We booked on for the 6:30 slot, and when we realized we hadn't booked my father on, we rung up and when we got there they were absolutely fine. The tour guide was imaginative and great at telling the ghost stories. York is a very flat city in the center, so the walk is suitable for all and you do not have to walk very far before then next story is being told. It was a great experience (especially at this time of year) and if you are looking for a fun way to spend the evening definitely do this

My partner and I visited York to see the JORVIC Viking Centre and then this tour in the evening - was definitely not disappointed and really enjoyed it all! I'm personally very fascinated by ghosts and the paranormal in general and so this was an amazing time! Mark Graham was our tour guide and he was very nice, informative and told very interesting stories about the historical areas, buildings, what people have seen, felt etc! Definitely enjoyed seeing and learning the dark histories within the buildings he took us to!

This is definitely something you must do whilst in York. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the stories he told were captivating. He was most definitely an entertainer. Whilst walking through York inbetween stories he made sure to chat to every group which was great and meant he could make the stories he was talking about a little more personal. Really enjoyed it and definitely got our moneys worth (5 pounds per person). I hate being scared and absolutely hate horror movies, etc, but this tour was none of that. It was just entertaining stories from a great story teller. He was extremely engaging and even though there were no costumed people hiding behind trees jumping out, etc, it was really fun. I wouldn't recommend it for young kids as I imagine they would get bored if they have a stort attention span.

Yesterday I did the Original Ghost Walk. The guide was good (sadly can't remember the name), humorous delivery of the stories. During the roughly 75 minutes there is a lot of walking involved, so might not be suitable for everyone. The only reason I didn't want to give 5 stars is, because it seemed the walk was stretched a bit right at the end and the stories got a bit less interesting.

Absolutely fantastic! Our guide (Ray) really enhanced the stories, adding a beautiful solemnity to each one, enveloping you completely in the story being told. A total of one and a half hours containing 6 stories, each one very different to the last, and it felt much shorter than one and a half hours, we could have listened for much longer! Well worth the £5 per adult ticket price, Chris was amazing as a guide, and the walk takes you around 7 different York places of interest, which are accompanied by a very animated and interesting story. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the lack of information at the start of the walk about the fact you are just left at the end location, in the dark. This was fine for us thanks to smartphones and Google maps, however some will struggle to find their way back to the starting point with no guide. Certainly worth a visit though but keep the end point in mind.
