K. P.Nice renovated accommodation for a decent price. I stayed in a single bedroom ensuite that had just been done up. Small and cozy, perfect for a student.
However corridors, stairs and lift started to smell very bad as rubbish area/ halls were not cleaned properly.
Hopefully they have fixed this now.

W. 9.I cannot recommend The Maltings enough. The rooms are spacious and useful, so much so that I have chosen to stay here consecutively for the last 4 years. The staff are beyond helpful and supportive. Debbie, Michelle and Gabi are particularly helpful and continuously go out of their way to help in whichever way they can. My experience for the past four years here has been overwhelmingly positive, so much so that I’m genuinely sad to be leaving. If you’re considering The Maltings, definitely choose here!

G. T.The staff at the Maltings by my personal experience are always happy to help and will even have a small talk with you to see how you are doing. First I want to say that the maintenance team run by Dave aka Batman are available 24/7 (except holidays like let’s give them a break) to help students with any problem they may be facing with their accommodation. The staff at the reception are always nice and are even funny. They even organize small events for students staying here like BBQ or small treats to help you get through the day. I would say this is one of the best accommodations, the prices are reasonable and the staff here are always willing to help.
A. T.A lovely environment to live in. Office staff are amazing and always available to help especially Debbie absolutely G. And security J and Christian and always there to assist with any worries and concerns. I’ve had a few emergencies since living here and all security and always have one reception staff first aid trained which has been a weight off my shoulders. Everyone always here to help and are friendly and always remember you name and stuff.

There is no other student accommodation where you will find such a supportive team that cares about your well being and making sure your stay is as good as it can possibly be. The rooms are excellent, clean, comfortable and the views across the river are amazing. Cant recommend this accommodation and its amazing team enough, especially Loraine. If you are looking for the full university halls experience without living on campus, this is for you.
S. P. V.I stayed at the Maltings for two years and it was a wonderful experience. The staff at the Maltings are so kind, helpful and friendly, they will go above and beyond to help out and have a nice chat with you. The entire staff engages with the residents with events and they are very supportive of students. They sometimes have fruit and veggie baskets for people to help themselves to a healthy snack, and exam goodie bags. Lorraine and Rosie are absolutely amazing and made my stay even better.
The accommodation is not far from two bus stops, and there is a co-op here as well, which is great. If there are any issues within the accommodation they are usually within a few days. Rooms are comfortable and spacious and bathrooms are nice. Great place to stay. Will definitely miss this place.

The staff are always friendly and happy to help. The rooms are modern and clean. I’d happily recommend The Maltings to any student looking for off-campus accommodation!

The staff at the accommodation are extremely helpful, kind and intimate. They will do all their best to solve your problems so don’t be hesitant to approach them. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an accommodation. You will never regret it. I’m feeling privileged to have known the Maltings and can proudly say it’s my second home. It’s a pleasure to be staying there. Most importantly; Lorraine who is the property manager has been so supportive, hospitable and awesome throughout my accommodation stay. She’s a gem of the place. Maltings is lucky to have her there.

H.Maltings is a great accommodation for uni students, we have everything we need on site although we can’t use the gym and study area because of corona, the staff have made our stay very welcoming, especially Debbie. They provide us with free food and goodies. And are always helpful when we need assistance.
w. s.After living in the Maltings for the past 2 years, I have to honestly say that the experience has mainly been good, just with a few small hiccups.
Positives:
- Rooms & Kitchen: Nice and Modern.
- Location: Has direct 61 bus to the University. Also, of walking distance.
- Social Aspects: Great, if you get good flatmates or do a group booking with friends.
- Common Room well equipped with games and tv etc.
- Easy living: Rent is paid online termly and no headache of paying bills separately (already included in the rent).
- Staff: I've mainly had really excellent experiences with both Debby and Lorraine who really do go out of their way to help.
Negatives:
- Cleanliness: Depends on your flatmates (not really The Maltings fault). Cleaner is friendly but comes rarely. Also, you have to collect a hoover from reception and use it within 2hrs, theres no hoover allocated to your flat. Note: They may forget to equip your flat with a broom, mop and dustpan so just ask reception nicely.
- Kitchen: (In some kitchens) the stools are a stupid height to the tables... please fix this.
- Gym: a bit run down with old machines 2 of which have been broken the entire year.
- Study Room: Awful! Please remove the gross broken sofas and put in study booth desks. Also, the little extra room on the side is always freezing and you can hear all the noise from the gym.
NOTE TO STAFF - Please remove Claire from the front desk, she's incredibly rude to the students and has created a very bad reputation for herself.
G.I’ve been living in the Maltings for two years now, and it’s one of the best student accommodation I’ve ever lived in. The staff has been helpful and nice, especially their property manager Lorraine, she’s the best. I would recommend students from the University to live here, especially those who want their own space. The studio I am currently living in is really spacious and nice :)

Bed, it’s easy to clean and has enough space to keep all of my clothes. The shower is a very good size and is powerful too which I love. Would definitely recommend a bronze suite room to anyone that plans to have a room to themselves. 5 stars.
D. D.I have been living at the Maltings since October 2016 and have re-booked to stay here again next year along with my flatmates. The range of accommodation is very good and the rooms are certainly worth the price. The staff are always friendly and have a smile on their face. They always resolve any issues with ease and understanding. Would recommend to anyone.

K.The staff is very good. For a student accommodation it is very good. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the lifts are sometimes broken and took several days to repair. But overall the best stay I have had for my last year in Academic Study.
A. N.I have stayed at The Maltings for the past three years, the staff is extremely friendly (more like a family to me) and helpful. They give a great emphasis on their residence mental health. And the manager is always ethusiastic and willing to comfort you. Lovely place. Would recommend it for everyone. Hopw to see them very soon ♥️

Easy access to the coop on site and not far from the town centre or University of Essex. Some great walking/cycling paths down the River Colne. Would definitely recommend staying here.
K. R.The facilities are great, the rooms are spacious and secure, but the highlight is definitely the staff! Lorraine, Claire, and Debbie in particular are really helpful and make it feel like it’s really your home! There’s lots of car parking and nearby bus stops, and the co op and Pizza Hut on-site definitely help. It’s only a 20 minute walk from campus and 10 minutes walk from the Tesco superstore. It is a little bit expensive but it’s worth it, I’d absolutely recommend the maltings to anyone!

F.I've have a great experience so far this year. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (not to mention they're always giving out free food), the rooms are a good size and gear up quickly. I live in block B, and haven't had any issues with noise from the new restaurant downstairs. There's also a free gym onsite whoch has been my best friend since Easter 😂

C.was a decent place to live for my first year except for the fact that a lot of my stuff went missing after i moved home for lockdown. i lost my vape (which was £80), a painting that i did for my a levels that was hung up on my bedroom wall, all of my mugs bowls and cutlery went missing. all this was realised when i came back to retrieve my belongings a few weeks ago. the staff and security staff were all very lovely and attentive and the accommodation is nice but i wouldn't stay here again due to the fact that i lost some very sentimental and expensive items here.

The management have always been nothing but helpful and supportive, and whenever I have any issues, they never hesitate to reach a hand. Lorraine, the manager, in particular has been my second mum through my 3 years here and I am really sad to say goodbye! Anyone who comes here will have a blast x
F.Not bad relatively to other student accommodations. A bit far from campus but well served. There are often issues such as floodings and elevators out of order. Most of the washing machines do not work properly and it takes ages before they fix them. There are the usual problems with students: a lot of mess, noisy parties, and everything is dirty and smelly. If you have a room close to Boadicea, it can be very noisy during weekend. If you're a student and just want to party, this can be a place for you. If you're a bit more mature and want a decent life,maybe you should consider living somewhere else, which is possible at the same price. The only pros: A very nice girl lives there :)

M. A.The Maltings is an amazing place to live. You have everything on your doorstep (eg: co-op, pizza hut, launderette, Tesco superstore and more). It's got great transport links to both uni and town they also have a car park for those who drive. They have room sizes to suit all and a gym. Whilst all these are nice to have, the best thing about living at the Maltings are the staff. The property manager, Lorraine, is helpful and really takes care of everyone as if they were her own - nothing is too much trouble. The rest of the team (Rosie, Debbie and Clair to name a few) all go above and beyond the call of duty to help make our flats our home - big thank you to all of you!

Best place to live in essex for all 2nd and 3rd year uni students, the free gym facilities and study rooms are essential and make it well worth the money spent. In comparison to other student accommodation in colchester, it provides everything you would need! from free gym facilities to a CO-OP store on site. The staff are very helpful if any problems arise. The first year was tough to adapt but with the staff and the welcoming environment I always felt as if I had somewhere to go or someone to talk to. Whether it was escaping to pizza movie nights or Christmas parties or even a cocktail making session!!! All hosted and free for the residents! It's all the simple things that they do so well and go above and beyond when they need to. Truly a homely place.

N.Property Manager Loraine and amazing right hand Debby have turned the kitchen from an absolute state with flies everywhere to spotless after it was left a mess at the end of the year and abandoned by flatmates. Not within their job description at all and could have just opted for the easier option of billing the whole flat and calling in professionals but instead got hands on and after a team effort alongside pleasant conversation we managed to get it all clear! J. A.Great environment. Most of the staff are helpful and they always have festivities in reception for everyone to get involve. Tescos,Pizza hut ,Dominoes and subway all take 5 to 10 minutes to get there if you are walking.
Lots of space in the kitchen and cupboard space.
Internet speed is really fast and the reception is good all over maltings for making calls unlike on campus.
Theres an amazon locker at Maltings which makes it easier to get parcels instead of going to reception.
Although its modern ,the gym is relatively small so if you are a gym person I would suggest is joining a gym nearby. Both Anytime fitness and Pump gym are literally 5 mins away from Maltings.
P. P.I have really enjoyed my stay at the Maltings student village.😊I am very aware that My bronze room is quite expensive for its size. However, the Neigbourhood in my opinion can be regarded as fancy and properly maintained by the staff. Not withstanding, I would like to appreciate every member of staff. A very big shout out to luriane and David, always ready to help the students/ tenants not withstanding their race or background. I have experienced their kindness and I must confess they deserve to be promoted. My overall advice for students looking for an accommodation in Colchester is that you won't regret living at the Maltings. However, you need to see the environment for yourself. ✌

R. H.I have been living here since October of 2015. The experience has been great. The accommodation is top of the line and the friendly staff makes it even better. Its between Colchester town and the uni. So perfect spot if you want to visit both.
S.A wondeful three years of staying there. Shaky getting things running, but once they were it was an awesome room with quick internet, only had a couple of issues but were fixed pretty quick. Staff are also friendly and in my final year they went above and beyond in helping me get through tough times, exams and my dissertation.
Facilities are excellent with a Co-Op, gym and quiet area all on site. Would happily reccomend The Maltings to those studying in the Colchester area.

F. I.The Maltings is a great place for off-campus accomodation. It has a co-op store in the building complex, which is convenient and is about a 10/15 minute walk from Tesco. There is a social area where accomodation events are held, as the staff care about students interacting with each other. The flats available are cosy with good room sizes. The staff have been so understanding and caring! They are willing to help however they can and are not afraid to say hello and have a chat :) Shout out to Rosie and Lorraine in particular for being so welcoming and friendly to me! xxxx

Also the heating is a bit stange, but at least it works.
The room and bathroom are very decent though, but I would rather live in a stable and have good internet, than this!
