Reviews of Roman House - Student Accommodation Newcastle

Roman house has been a great accommodation for my 3rd year of university. The rooms are very spacious with lots of storage place (great for someone with lots of clothes like myself) and good comfy bed. The en-suite is a great size with a roomy powerful shower. The kitchen is also a lovely area with suitable storage and comfortable seating and perfect for students. Overall I have had a great time here and all of the staff have been very supportive and accommodating- especially through lockdown. Would definitely recommend.

I had a studio at Roman House, and I enjoyed my stay. The accommodation is not too inhabited, so It's relatively quiet, cosy and clean. The size of the studio is right because it's arranged practically and it fulfilled all my needs. The staff is amiable, and they always listen and act to your needs, such as when something is broken. The uni' are a 15 min. walk and within 5-10 min. you're in the middle of the city. Therefore, you won't suffer too much from outdoor noise while living centrally.

Amazing experience living here from last September in a classic studio. Very spacious room to store my stuff and stretch out, and facilities solid and modern. A good location with 20-minute walk to the university main campus and the metro and Central just minutes away. I like that the place is quiet most of the time, as if there were only me in the entire building (no joke ;)
Also a massive thank you to the staff who are all nice and friendly, ready to help from maintenance (thanks to Dave and John) to parcels and everything (thank you Danielle) with great patience.
I would definitely recommend this place if the above things are important to you. It’s surly worth the money you spend. The only thing I can possibly pick out are the sometimes failure of hot water and the internet. Usually they’ll be back in less than a day, but in a case or two / during weekends might need a little longer to be back to normal.

Friendly, helpful and always goes the extra mile. Toni on reception is really nice and you get the impression she knows all the residents. Good people.
The rooms are clean and modern, I didn't get chance to use the communal space due to covid but it's far better than university accommodation at a more affordable price. If I could give Roman house more stars I would.

I've lived at two previous student accommodation throughout my time at university and roman house has certainly been my best experience so far.
The rooms and living areas are spacious and practical with the en suite being an added bonus. The smoking area is pretty good too. All the staff including the receptionists, cleaners and maintenance are all very friendly and happy to help.
The city center location is also excellent and is relatively tucked away and quiet; I work 12 hour shifts including nights and I am rarely disturbed.
I have so far been unable to use the social spaces at roman house due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however they appear to well looked after. The internet in experience can be temperamental but in no way unsatisfactory. Overall I would certainly recommend roman house to any student looking for affordable accommodation in Newcastle.

I had a studio at Roman house (2020-2021) and it was a pleasant experience. The studio was very spacious with loads of storage both kitchen and for personal belongings. The staff were very accommodating and nice to everyone 👍 which is such a plus during a pandemic because it gave the students a lot of ease. The maintenance were always quick to respond and the maintenance guy is super friendly too! I was located right next to the courtyard (by means no fault to the staff as I requested it) not knowing how noisy it can be as some students would go spend time in the courtyard after midnight for hours so I have my blinds drawn 90% of the time. However, this was no fault for any of the staff because there is little to nothing to do about it. Oh, and the vending machine is such a bonus if you're thirsty and could not be bothered to go outside😅

Had an exceptional living experience in Roman House from 2019-2020. My room was a beautiful studio. It is spacious (22m2) and well-furbished. Roman House has everything I need for student accommodation: a gym, a cinema room, a laundry room, and a big common room that I used to host my friends. The price rate is lower compared to other student accommodations in Newcastle. 5 mins walking to the central station and metro station. I usually walk to the Uni, but I also take the metro to Haymarket if it is raining. Both ways are super convenient. The staffs are amicable. Overall, I cannot be happier for my choice to stay in the Roman House.

Great location! Rooms and kitchens are very spacious and modern. Perfect student accommodation!! Very recently built so all rooms and kitchens are nearly brand new and modern. It sits juts behind central station which mean its a short 15 minute walk from uni. The staff are great and always able to help with any situation. The facilities provided are amazing for the price, a gym and on-site cinema room included in the weekly price is fab when you've no money.

Great building to live in, Nice area as well where it is close to clubs, bars and venues. Great location between the city centre and the quayside. Close to some supermarkets as well.
The staff are really nice and you have a very relaxed feel about the place.
The flats themselves are really modern and the building also has some great facilities.
I really recommend living in this place if your a student and its really easy to meet people and make friends if you moved to newcastle.
The building also has a cinema room and a projector with a massive screen so with that and an x box you can't really go wrong can you...

Firstly, Chris (manager) and Michael are extremely friendly, and are very approachable if you have a problem, making living in halls enjoyable and stress free. The kitchen is great; extremely modern, with a powerful microwave and good appliances, and is a good size. The TV is an extra bonus and allows you to interact with your flat.
Also, the rooms are cosy, spacious, and well thought out.
I have really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend to others, as it is only about 15 mins from campus.
However, the only downside is no security, which can be annoying when you want to collect a parcel or are locked out outside of normal 'working' hours

Lovely rooms with really good communal areas, there's a little gym downstairs which is very handy too. Really glad I didn't go through the uni organised accommodation as Roman House is much nicer and also newer. It's a couple of minutes walk to the train station and to town too, so you don't need to pay for taxi's on a night out etc! Only thing is you can't get your parcels at a weekend :( but overall it's fab

Roman House is situated in a fantastic location just behind Central Station and is in close proximity to lots of bars and restaurants. The building is nice and modern with lots of facilities such as a common room, cinema room, private study room and a gym. The Studio rooms are of decent size and are equipped with an en-suite, kitchen and storage space. The staff are extremely friendly and approachable and take action quickly to help solve your problems - it is a shame that they are only here Monday-Friday (9-5pm) and are split between two accommodation sites though. I would like to note that the only problem I have found is that it can get quite messy at weekends as the building is unmanned and not cleaned during this time - it’d be great if people could start to clean up after themselves and respect the property. All in all, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Roman House so far and I would definitely recommend to students who are looking for a cheap studio space in an excellent location!

Living at Roman House has been such a good experience. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. If you have a problem or query, they are more than welcome to help however they can. There are a lot of facilities in this building including Cinema room all the way to gym room. I have been to quite few of other student accommodation and I'm not gonna lie, this place is the best I have seen, all in terms of location and the facilities it contains. Overall I would highly recommend staying at roman house whilst at university as it is a very friendly and welcoming environment to live in.
I.
The location of the accommodation is brilliant (just behind the train station). And the whole architecture of the building are quite nice too. Staff are so friendly here!
The thing I don't really like is that there are not enough washing and drying machines. Also, the gym is kinda tiny. It would be great if they include machines for weightlifting.
A. F.
Fantastic location, perfect for both universities and all the best clubs and bars. Also very close to the train station and the national express station which is perfect for travelling home, however, the trains going past can be noisy at times but other than that a quiet area. Helpful, friendly staff and good facilities all round. Very good place to live while at uni would definitely recommend (especially if you miss out on halls).
L. H.
Great place to live and definitely the best accomodation I've loved in during my uni years (lived in 4 others so far and Roman House is far superior) staff are friendly and helpful. Only thing that's a bit annoying is there are no ovens in studios which would be nice. But this seems standard in most studios for students so no worries.

First of all, the building is quite new, modern, and stylish making it a great living space for international student particularly compared to those old campus accommodations. The rent price was quite reasonable and slight cheaper as compared to 10-minutes walk campus accommodation, for sure. Located 20-minutes-walk away to Newcastle University making it very suitable for those who seek an affordable accommodation which includes fancy room, double bed, spacious communal kitchen equipped with TV, and high speed internet all in.
The staffs are quite friendly, easy to reach, and has been quite helpful. As the international students, we were supposed to pay full-year amount of rent fee. Unfortunately, I was having a problem with the transfer and Chris sorted very professionally. Michael is also exceptionally friendly and had a quick response to your complaint. Heater is doing good, even I personally don't need it in the winter season as the building insulation is working fine.
Only problem is the washing machines are expensive. Alarms set off frequently in first two months of tenancy caused fire brigade to came. No prior brief induction concerning the alarm systems, but now we have figured it out by our self.

It is one of the newest and modern accommodation in Newcastle. Great location! It is close to both Newcastle and Northumbria University, just 20 mins walking distance! It is also 5 mins away from train station. The staff is friendly and helpful; and they are always working to improve on-site facilities. The rooms and kitchen are brand new and well-decorated. The security is also one of their priorities.
However, the laundry is quite expensive. Your parcel cannot be delivered when the office is closed, and you can only collect it within working hours.
All in all, I definitely recommend living here.
K. F.
Great place for any student requiring a short walk to university and also being on the doorstep of the city centre. The accommodation comes with a spacious bedroom with plenty of storage and an ensuite bathroom, the kitchen has plenty of space for each room mate living with you and a complimentaty television with freeview. Also included in your rent is access to a gym, study room, Common room with pool table and football table, smoking area with cover from rain and a laundry room with three washing machines and dryers. The entire block also has plenty of security features meaning you'll have to scan yourself into to several doors before getting to your room however this extra security means you'll be safe and so will your belongings. Overall if you want a comfortable and clean environment to live in that is close to everything you need then this accommodation is perfect for you.

Accommodation is in a great location and brand new, so it is really modern and stylish. The kitchen is big enough to chill and socialize also, includes a microwave and a nice TV. The staff (Chris and Michael) here are very friendly and helpful. There are many facilities you can use on the ground floor such as; gym(2 treadmill, 2 indoor bike and a rowing machine), cinema room(table tennis, projector) and a common room(nice room with many seats, pool table and foosball table).
However, there are only 3 laundry machines and 3 dryers for the whole accommodation. They are located in the laundry room downstairs and are quite expensive. Also, if you can't make it to the office within working hours, you can not collect your parcel which is a bit annoying.

Roman House overall is a great Student accommodation. The location of it is very good, everything is close/nearby, the accommodation itself is very new and modern, there are many communal facilities like the gym and common room which is great to have, the staff are super helpful as well.. In summary I would definitely recommend living here.
a. l.
I have to say that the staffs here is so kind.
They always help me to solve trouble, and I felt please when I lived here.
I've ever stayed three different student accommodations in Newcastle.
Personally, Roman House is the best place I stayed.
E. V. s.
The accommodation itself is very nice and modern, the bedrooms are peng and the cinema room is great for movie nights. The walk to uni it kinda long, but it's much closer to the clubs which is much more important. I've made some life time friends here and 10/10 would recommend
s.
Really nice accommodation and at a really good price. It's in a great location as it is only about 20 mins to Newcastle Uni and 5 minutes from Central Station.
The accommodation itself has great facilities and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
A. V.
Really good location for both Northumbria and Newcastle, easy walk back from a night out too! Right next to the train/metro station so easy to travel around or back home.. Plus only 5 minute walk to shops in town. Reasonably priced for student halls in Newcastle, especially the studio rooms, and so much more relaxed than most!
H. G.
Roman House is a nice place to live, quite pricey but the accommodation is brand new and lot's of facilities you wouldn't get in uni halls e.g. cinema room, gym. The staff are easy to approach when there is a problem and usually reply to emails very promptly. Major down side of doors locking automatically when you leave rooms so keys must be kept on you at all times as you are now charged for a lock out after 3 strikes.
R. M.
Overall, Roman House is great. The building and flats themselves are very nice and the facilities are also top quality. The location is perfect as no place is further than a 15 minute walk - with clubs being even closer. Only downside that the internet sometimes is a little unreliable.
D. J.
Roman House is a great place to live for students, it's a good quality living area, good value for money and in a great location right next to the town center and central station. It's only a 15 minute walk from the universities and has lots of good facilities.
R. F.
It's in a really good location and all of the staff are really friendly. The rooms and kitchen in the sharing flats are great and has lots of useful communal areas. Only fault is the washing machines and dryers are rather expensive.
T. B.
Such a good accommodation, the location is perfect as it's near to allll the clubs, the rooms are very decent with a double bed and own bathroom facilities, and the whole building is very modern ! Very glad I decided to live here in my first year of university (:
M. C.
Lived here for many months now, by far the best student accomidation, well worth the rent with extras! Personally spend all my time on the pool table. all staff are kind caring and full of life.
I'd deffonitly recommend this for someone willing to move out even if your from Newcastle itself.
E. C.
Great atmosphere and location, just a few minutes walk away from everything you could possibly need in the city centre and within crawling distance of the major nightclubs in Newcastle for when things get messy😏 In a relatively secluded area so there's not much noise from traffic etc. Generally a great place to live.
A. B.
Well safe to say Roman house is life. Such a lush social area and the rooms are really nice and modern! Bit of a walk to uni but it's areet, the walk helps the hangover from the clubs, which are literally around the corner which is always a bonus especially when you're wearing 7inch heels! Love it, make sure you get a space here if you can!! I've made some worldie mates here who I'll never forget (chris the boss is areet as well I guess🍑)👌🏽
L. A.
Roman house is a great place to live. The location is perfect as everywhere is within a 15 minute walking distance. The rooms and kitchen are also a good size.
S. G.
My experience so far is really positive. The building is really new and nice and the rooms are ideal for students. It is situated almost 20 mins far from universities and 10 mins far from the city centre. The staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend it highly to everyone :)
O. D.
Great place, great staff, very friendly and supportive. Would recommend for any prospective student who wants to live in city centre for a reasonable price. Big shout out to Shaina, Marge, Terry, Angie, Dave and the gang
N. W.
Good location, new building with great facilities and decent price compared to similar student houses. Friendly staff is a plus too. The gym could have some weights though, only cardio in there
J. Z.
The location is great, just a five-min walk to the railway station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Stylish building and well-furnished rooms. Love it so much.
j. l.
Quality housing bang in the middle of town, approachable housing management with quality patta, rooms are well designed, modern and spacious, communal areas are quality, only issues are regarding the price of the washers and dryers , but overall well worth it.
b. p.
Very modern, huge kitchen and lounge area, rooms have plenty of space too and loads of storage space, really convenient having 24hr access to the gym and being a 2 minute walk from the train station
j. l.
Great place for students, close to clubs and bars without having to get taxi home and close enough to the city centre. very nice and modern and it includes a movie theatre, gym and bike storage.
L. L.
Really nice modern accommodation, probably the nicest I have come across in Newcastle for the price and location. Chris and Michael are great and really helpful. Would 100% recommend living here!
A. W.
Great location for both universities, local amenities and nightlife. Reasonably priced (£108pw) in comparison to other student halls in the area.

Great space, so modern and great staff. Couldn't have lived in a better place for first year. Walking distance to clubs, uni and town.
