G. R.This emblematic building that is the hearth of Oxford. Beautiful place to visit and admire. It belongs to the Oxford University and works as a library. Unfortunately you are only able to see it’s amazing ceiling booking a tour in advance or becoming in a university member.

This library was built in 1737 and is connected underground to the main building of the Bodleian Library. The camera here means 'room', not the camera.
In fact, the etymology of camera itself means 'room'. In the early days of huge cameras, there was a huge space where the light passing through the lens passed until it was reflected on the dry plate (film) and formed an image. Even now, when you open a film camera, there is a small space between the lens and the film film to form an image.

1737년에 건립된 도서관이며, 보들리언 도서관 본관과 지하로 연결되어 있다. 여기서 카메라는 그 카메라가 아니라 '방'이라는 뜻.
사실 Camera의 어원 자체가 '방'을 의미한다. 초창기의 거대한 카메라는 렌즈를 투과한 빛이 건판(필름)에 비추어져 상을 맺기까지 지나가는 거대한 공간이 있었는데 이게 웬만한 방 크기였기 때문에 카메라라는 이름이 붙은 것이다. 현재도 필름카메라를 뜯어보면 렌즈와 필름막 사이에 상을 맺기 위한 조그마한 공간이 있다
