this is a nice block of accommodation. close to the centre, and supermarket shopping in easy walking distance. Modern and well appointed. Compact accommodation, great shared spaces for cooking and socialising. Definitely invest in a fan, the panoramic windows will keep students toasty! Costlier than some alternatives, but if that's do - able, go for it. AP York - managed property was cheaper last year but poor management made it a disappointing experience compared to the Coalyard.

I do not recommend this student accommodation to anyone looking for a quiet environment. I had issues with students partying until past midnight, this disrupted my sleep and I was constantly exhausted during my lectures. In my opinion, the accommodation managers did not handle the situations, they gave a generic response. This situation triggered my anxiety, I had several panic attacks during that time. Luckily this term, I spoke to the welfare team at York St John and they were able to help me. During move in day, I was disappointed with my flat, I was expecting to be moving into a flat similar to the one I saw at my viewing. I felt slightly deceived, I paid my deposit with this expectation. If I knew this was not the case, I would not have rushed to pay my deposit. My stay here, has been a little underwhelming. The main gate and entrance doors to the blocks needs some improvement. The magnet does not always shut the door completely closed, I have walked into my bock without using my key several times. Nontheless, The location is perfect for students, with Morrisons and ASDA close by. This accommodation is close to York St John University campus and several restaurants and takeaways.

We had a room next 2 stairs as soon as u go in, security man very good because afew couples tried 2 stand & have a smoke & talk at entrance but he moved them around 2 the garden area,well done him,which ment we could have our window open aswell as have a good sleep,very clean & staff very friendly, so thanks very much x 👏👏👏

Really nice place to live for your first year at uni. Very secure and Paul and Charlie are really friendly and welcoming. Big kitchen space with a lovely bathroom and warm bedroom. Washing facilities are really good and efficient. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for a first year home.

Perfect accommodation for first year students. Modern and spacious kitchen and living area. Bedrooms with lots of storage. Really friendly staff that are always happy to help. Safe area and only a short walk to York St. John uni.

The Coal Yard was absolutely perfect for my first year at YSJ, it's the most modern of all first year accommodations, in a perfect location for uni, supermarkets and the city, and just has a great feel to it. Paul and Charlie are so lovely and always made us all feel settled and we're extremely helpful whenever we needed. I loved my time there and all my friends and family who visited always said how lovely it was.

Great modern accommodation, highly recommend for students in York. On-site team (Paul and Charlie) are very friendly and helpful. Close to town center and plenty of facilities nearby.

Whenever I have visited my friends here, it has been a very enjoyable experience. Management is great and it’s the perfect place for any first year student. Great location, a short walk to the centre of York and uni, lots of facilities on site and overall a great place to live.

Would highly recommend this accommodation. Perfect location, lovely and modern, surrounded by several supermarkets, a 10 minute walk to University and a short walk into the centre. The site manager is very helpful too and will always help with any problems.

Purpose bulit building to a very high standard great for any first time student leaving home theirs everything for them near by like a neighbour gym, Morrisons, buses and only 2 minutes away from the city centre and the most important its a safe area to live and iam happy my son with be staying here and thank you to Paul for giving us a real in depth tour around would highly recommend!
