Difficult to see the same vet twice so continuity sometimes disrupted but I feel there is a lot of knowledge shared amongst the vets and the 'less experienced' will readily consult another if any doubt. It is a friendly practice and staff across the board are polite and helpful. Due to the number of patients time keeping is quite disrupted. I am not complaining as I may have been one who was 'slotted' in to support my boy. I am very happy overall with the level.of care at Maes Glas and have recommended you to many other dog walkers that I meet

Reception staff need a bit of customer service training. Was left waiting to sign into our appointment whilst they were discussing holidays and ignoring us as we stood there like spare parts. Unsympathetic to the fact I was about to have my beloved hamster PTS, yes it’s ‘only a hamster’ but to me she wasn’t! The vet however was fantastic, sympathetic and respectful, she was amazing and I’m grateful for how sensitively she handled everything. I would give her 5 stars if I could rate separately. Apparently they take feedback seriously but I emailed my complaint to the relevant email address months ago with no response, hence this review.

We’ve been with Maes Glas for about 25 years and 8 pets. Vets have come and gone, but they always seem to get good ones in. They take good care of our furry family members, right up until the very end. I recommend them. UPDATE: We had to say goodbye to our much loved dachshund Ruby today. 13.5 years ago Maesglas Vets saved her life and that of her brothers and mother, who was unable to deliver naturally due to uterine inertia. We thought they would just save mum, but on collection we were handed 3 healthy pups. We kept Ruby. Maesglas treated her all through her life. Today sadly, our beautiful Ruby was nearing her end and the only humane thing left was euthanisation. Every single member of staff treated us and Ruby with absolute care and compassion. We were well advised and Ruby was given a peaceful and respectful end. This has been our experience with all of our pets for 27 years.

What a wonderful practice!! I was made to feel welcomed and at ease, after struggling to get my cat registered and seen by local vets. I was offered an appointment the very next day and upon arrival was called through immediately. My cat had an accident in her carrier on the way down, and when I sheepishly told them I would have to sort her before they could examine her, the vet, without hesitation, took the carrier and towel away and assured me they would clean it up for me, ready to take my cat back home. I couldn't believe it! The vet and staff were so friendly and informative, they truly went above and beyond for me today and I couldn't reccomend them enough. Thank you so much 😻

The time had finally come to say an incredibly heartbreaking final farewell to my beautiful little Bichon. Me and my partner reflected afterwards how we felt we were given all the time before and after, to spend with our sweet little boy; we didn't feel rushed at any point, and being offered a nose and paw print of him, as well as a bit of his fur, really was the icing on the cake.

After a problem with my dog the vet was brilliant especially being so late at night. My dog is better for now and they also gave me some medication if and when it happens again. She had 2 fits 1 after the other, it was quite scary when she was fitting, she went stiff and with her tongue drooping from her mouth with quite a lot of froth, and her little eyes were rolling. She seems to be okay for now.

Absolutely amazing staff, the skill, care, devotion they all gave to Mr tickle on his road to recovery,he was found in an appalling state, with out these amazing people and all at hope rescue mr tickle wouldn't be here today, very special members of staff there .the help, guidance and support , I have had from you all has helped me to help tickle settle and to keep mr tickle well , so a massive big thank you. My Dalmatian Molly has been back and forth here for years. After her last x-rays I was given a few options going forward the decision was entirely mine I was not pushed one way or the other, I love that they were not pushing me towards the most expensive option. Brilliant vets.

Fantastic. What can i say!!! My baby rambo thought he could stop a stuffed rebecca rabbit toy from talking by eating her voicebox, he made an amazing effort fp but caused some problems to himself internally when he was passing the bits. Vomiting and diarrhea etc. He stayed in here for 3 days and had lots of needles scans and x rays. Sam the vet was ringing me regularly to keep me updated on how rambo was and what the next step would be. I went to visit rambo to see if i could get him to eat and the nurses were so good with him, i could see how much they care for animals. Finally i brought him home with lots of medication and a few bald patches from where he had a drip and bloods done, and he was 80% better than when he had gone in. Although rambo doesnt want to stay here again I WOULD HAVE NO WORRIES BECAUSE I KNOW HES IN THE MOST AMAZING HANDS. So i hope rambo decides to leave ALL PLASTIC items alone. MAES GLAS your doctors and nurses etc are heroes. THANK YOU FROM ME RAMBO and ROCKY

Have used this vets for years,going back to when they were Davey and Jones in Merthyr Mawr Road.Always found them reliable.We bought a new puppy which needed her second injections. Made an appointment for Friday 22/10/21(or so I thought) but was actually for the previous day but they had no hesitation in finding a vet to see us and administer the vaccines.This was done with utmost politeness and friendliness and did not make us feel foolish for our faux pas, for this we thank them very much.They will continue to be very much our vets of choice.

I am a qualified veterinary nurse, no longer in practice so have a lot of experience with veterinary practices. I registered my cats with Maes Glas as they have a silver rating for their cat friendly clinic status and was told that they are going for gold. They have an anti-scruff policy also so I know my cats will be respected and well cared for. I would choose this clinic over Shepherd's for any cat in particular for this reason. During covid, they seem to be busy but Emma still gave me and my cat a good amount of time to chat about him and examine him. She then explained what she found and I didn't feel rushed at all. I'm very very happy with the service and will not hesitate to recommend Maes Glas to everyone.

I get very dispondant lately about vets. If you cannot afford insurance then no matter how much an animal lover you are the prices now are just ridiculous and now that the latest flea treatment that actually works has to be via prescription only there the vets have you!!! It can be anything around £100 just to treat your cat/dog for fleas ???? Don't you feel any guilt VETS!

Really not impressed first visit with my very poorly dog there was a suggestion to put her down a costing issue totting up a cost on my animal life even when I said it didn't matter just do something been with vets 40yrs when Davey and king always had a account never owed them money I had to pay £200 pound up in front don't get me wrong the service we received was good but we still don't know what is wrong with her but it still cost me over £1000 pounds and still don't know if this is over will say staff and Rob the vet were great its just upsetting when your animal is fail fast in front of you and they are totting up the cost when she needs help what is this world coming to bare in mind we have horses cats dogs chicken fish ECT and used this vets all my life looking at the computer no animal comes 1st am thinking of changing vets

Took him for an appointment this morning -collected him at lunchtime kept waiting for for some time -no explanation provided in the end i had to ask only to be told there was an emergency -might have been helpful if the receptionist had advised, common courstey!! My cat does not appear to have been access to a litter tray and when i took him out of his basket he was soaking wet in urine. Not very happy.

Whether I have been dealing with the staff on reception, the nurses or.the Vets; they are all patient and willing to give you the time that you need to deal with your concerns.I have never felt pressured to spend money; rather The vets and nurses have always taken the necessary time to listen to your questions and to explain what, if any, action needs to be implemented or what options and outcomes are worth consideration. Vet treatment is expensive wherever you go, but in my experience it is cheaper overall here than the larger national franchises who I found charged excessively high prices for treatment and prescription Medication

Good vets but boy do they ramp up the charges. You'll even get charged for disposable gloves. They love insurance. As soon as they knew I was insured they started suggesting total unnecessary specialist treatment to inflate the claim and their profits. Also you never see the same vet twice so there is no continuity of care. It would be nice to have the same vet for more than one appointment.

This is the Brackla branch. Used for years and never had cause to complain. When I've needed an urgent appointment they've always delivered. All the staff have proved to be helpful and full of freely given advice. When we have lost dogs through illness or age they have sympathetically provided all the information necessary for us to make the heartbreaking decision. Facilities are excellent and when one of our dogs was seriously ill they tried everything possible to try to avoid us having to go to the small animal hospital in Bristol for very expensive treatment. I cannot thank them enough for years of treatment provided to our goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats and dogs and unreservedly recommend them.

Maes Glas vets are lovely. I've used the Barry, Cowbridge and Brackla branches and can't fault any of them. Brackla can be very busy with animals so if you have a more nervous animal you might like to try a smaller branch. All vets here really do care about the animals they treat, which shows in the care provided. My (agressive) cat keeps causing himself injuries and he is always welcomed in for his visit.

Emma Boullardie and her colleagues were there every step of the way, when our twelve yr old Jack Russell, Millie, became very ill, as a result of a heart condition.
