We have taken two dogs to Blackwater vets. Our old lab, Bella was very easy going and loved the vets. Ola and the rest of the team loved her, they have always been friendly, helpful and at the end they were very compassionate when we finally had to say goodbye 🙁 our new rescue is a different story, he hates the vets from a previous experience. We've muzzled trained him and Ola and the rest of the team have allowed us to pop in and get used to the vets at his own pace. Unfortunately he did need a proper examination before I'd done all the training I'd liked to have done. Ola spent a lot of time making friends, did what she needed to do as gently as she could, frequently stopping to allow our boy a minute to regroup and get rewarded. I couldn't of asked for more from the vets, they were great!

I am so happy with the service received at Blackwater Vets, The complete team there have offered me a superb service, and often go above and beyond. I'd like to be completely honest in my review and say that at the beginning after Ola and Eddie took over the practice it was a bit of a sticky start, but happy to say we have worked through it and am pleased to have them looking after the important furry creatures in my life. I would hope that others will look to use this important local service and support other local businesses.

My daughter took her elderly Dalmatian here today with a severe infection of the womb. The dog was seen as a emergency on Sunday at a practice offering emergency cover. They said that the fog had a life threatening infection and that the womb could perforate at any time which would result in death. They provided emergency treatment that would provide cover for 24 hours. This morning my daughter phoned this practice to see if they could operate to save her dogs life She was told that this could take place and to bring the dog st 9 40 and that it would cost in the region of 1k My daughter took her dog she was obviously distressed and hoping for a positive response. Olga asked immediately if the dog was insured , my daughter said no but I have the 1 k immediately Olga demanded it would be 25k if no insurance My daughter said she could pay the other 500 on Wednesday, Olga refused and then said she is an d dog what if there are complications how will you pay. My daughter attempted to explain that she would be able to meet any reasonable payment. At this Olga said she is old and will probably die, I do not want to work with you. My daughter said but apart from the life saving treatment she needs now she is a healthy dog .This Is what the vet had said the day previously. Olga them said "she is not my responsibility and I won't treat her". She then said and you will be charged for this consultation My daughter refused to pay her and left with her very sick dog. The dog had her operation with a compassionate caring and professional vet this afternoon. She is recovering well and should be home with her famy tomorrow. It cost 600 pound Please do not use this dangerous practitioner

I used this practice recently for our elderly dog and they always go above and beyond to help. The staff are kind, knowledgeable and professional and clearly have a love for the animals they treat. Been my vets since moving to the Island some five years ago. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the vet and the staff. Jack (my ageing staffie) is well know at the practice and will often drag me in for some attention and free treats as we go past on our walks. Caring and friendly staff always willing to help. The vets and staff at this practice are everything one would want from a professional and caring outfit. They were wonderful when our elderly retriever suffered an attack that caused him to lose mobility. Their care, attention and the treatment administered got him back on his feet within a week. Our other pets have similarly benefited from the vets' knowledge, high quality after-care and professional attitude. We are very lucky to have a such a well-equipped local practice - please use them/visit them to find out for yourself. The sweets at reception are good too!

In my opinion Ola is a very professional, thorough and caring vet. She has a very good 'way' with animals. My cat stresses very easily, Ola seems to relax her. Her advice has always been helpful. The whole experience here is efficient yet personal. I highly recommend this vet practice.

We have used the services of Blackwater Veterinary Surgery on several occasions and have always found them to be thorough, kind, genuinely caring and helpful. We have used many practices throughout our years of owning different pets (when we lived in other areas) but Blackwater is the best by far. We feel so lucky to have them and we know our much loved pets will always get the best treatment. They go out of their way to help and all the people that work there are just genuinely lovely people.

We have 11 dogs and often foster rescues so you can take it as read that we know a bit about vets! Ola is extremely professional and has an exceptional breadth of knowledge for a small practice. She has often seen our dogs at short notice and when we've had a referal to a specialist gone out of her way to ensure they are fully briefed. Just today I called asking for meds I have run out of and got a call back within 10 mins to confirm what I could get by when by the ever helpful reception staff. I've never experienced any rudeness but I have been given the facts and possible outcomes of serious conditions. I would much prefer that to nice words. I have one dog who is extremely timid and she was not put under undue stress when examined. Finally, there may be cheaper chain vets but I don't find the charges excessive and there is a pre-pay discount pet care scheme for regular expenses. So, in summary, reviews are reviews - you can chose to believe someone ticked off for being given a few home truths and I have to say I've seen some pretty rude people in the surgery, or you can take the recommendation of someone with 11 dogs!

My family use Blackwater vets and I have recently switched over to them and I'm so pleased with my experiences. Both my kitty cats were attacked within a month of each other and being heavily pregnant at the time it was a struggle to juggle everything. Well Ola, along with the reception staff went above and beyond to ensure my cats were booked in and seen to asap and really helped me. The whole experience was fab start to finish including the aftercare (follow up appt with nurse). I felt the practise genuinely cared for my animals and it made me feel they were in good hands. Thank you so much Blackwater, especially Ola. You are a fab vet and I will continue to use the practise and sing your praises! Personal care isn't essential, it's a extra detail and you always show genuine care.

Visited after my dog cut her pad walking on the beach nearby, was seen within minutes and Ola was very thorough and caring even got a call the next day to check she was ok. Couldn't fault the service by the team at Blackwater vets.

It was a very sad time for me as I had to take my partners rabbit in and he had to be put to sleep. The vet Mrs Doyle was very compassionate and sympathetic, she was very understanding and explained everything well. We have a Caravan on Seaview so don't live on Mersea. We were down for the week and our dog hurt his foot. I called the vet at 2.30pm, saw the vet at 3.30pm" Couldn't have asked for more. Friendly nothing is to much if it wasn't for this vets my dog would not be hear always willing to help and advise and they know the animals they are seeing I don't live near this vets but I feel my dogs are getting 5 star treatment when they visit
