First class Veterinary Practice. My dog was seen as an emergency, out of hours, my own vet being closed.
The booking process and triage, was exemplary and immediate, and the appointment carried out with great clinical expertise, yet with most friendly and courteous kindliness. Highly recommended.

Excellant service at 8.30 pm when our vets had closed gave us peace of mind re our 19 year old cat who has some health issues bless him seen by vet gave injection calmed the matter down and great advice to see our vet the next morning which we did. He fights on another day our loyal strong furry friend.

I was confident that my dog was in safe hands. Excellent information given and a robust handover to the day vets. Quick to answer the phone and happy to speak to us when calling to check the well-being of our treasured family dog

I've rated 3 stars as I have a mixed review. Our beloved 12 year old staff fell ill suddenly 2 weeks ago..he went down very quickly and at 1.30 am I knew we couldn't wait till the morning. I rang the emergency vets to be told it would be £270 just to carry him through the door let alone any treatment he may need...of course we had no choice so off we went...cut a long story short we had to say our goodbyes that night and I could not fault the care and support we received that night as I was distraught and couldn't think straight and relieved ur team allowed me all the time to say goodbye for that I can not fault them BUT the next day when it came to paying the bill I was crushed with a £640 bill because unfortunately he fell poorly at night. Payment plans are not accepted so thank god I had my parents to help otherwise things would have been very difficult for us as was told we only had 30 days to pay. I understand its out of hours but in our case if we had needed help in business hours it would have cost considerably less. I think I'm in the wrong profession 😔

We was treated very well when are dog Rodney had to be put to sleep. They were very kind and gave us time with him before. It was all very gentle and Rodney just went to sleep. There was no rush for us to leave. I cannot thank them enough.

Excellent, kind compassionate staff, can't fault the service that was given to our little man, when he hurt his paw , he was bleeding and in pain ,he was given treatment immediately by sympathetic staff causing him as little anxiety as possible. Staff also very helpful with myself ,giving information on insurance etc .A Big thankyou

Sadly my cat was seriously injured so had to take him to Vets Now. They were utterly professional & very kind & sympathetic as sadly he had to be put to sleep. Could not have asked for better service at a very traumatic time. Thank you.

Took our dog in around 8.00pm.Very professional and speedy upon entry. Vet again was very professional and friendly. Expensive for duration of the visit although "needs must" and our concern was eased.

We took our cat Ramen for an urgent visit on Sunday. The Spanish vet was amazing on explaining everything she was doing, why, and talking to us about the problem our cat had. We were seen quick and the cat was treated very well. I hope I never have to use the emergency service again for obvious reason but if we do I am confident that my pet will be in good hands.

Vets Now were wonderful when we took our little dog Matilda to them on Sunday when she became very ill.
They were caring and professional and saved her life that day.
They kept us informed every step of the way, spoke to us with compassion and empathy and took care of her until we collected her to enable our own vet to continue her care.
Special thanks to Jenny the vet in charge of Tilda's care that day..She spoke to me on the phone several times to keep me updated and was very caring and understanding of our distress.
Sadly, Matilda lost her fight and passed away two days later. We are devastated but are so grateful to Vets Now who helped her..and us...in our time of need.

We phoned them up and they were able to quickly refer us to the closest out of hours vet who dealt with the situation there and then.

EXCELLENT, had to call at 3am on a Sunday, told to come over straight away, seen within minutes, they were all very friendly, gave all the information we needed to make a decision on treatment, very impressed, and a big thankyou :-)

Very kind after the loss of my dog, which happened on a Sunday when our regular vets were closed. They were very helpful .

Had to bring our poorly Rabbit Chester to you, was not eating or toileting. Within 24hrs back to his usual cheeky self. All staff were really helpful, informative and caring. Being a bank holiday, had to pay more, but to see him happy, back to normal and eating, worth every penny. Thank you to all staff

A mixed review really. We knew our pet was coming towards the end of life through care given by our own vet. It became clear on that Saturday that she’d taken a turn downhill and it wasn’t going to be fair to keep her going till Monday when we could see them so we called the vets now out of hours service. We were advised to bring our dog up to the surgery in Colchester. Because of covid regulations, only one of us could have gone in to the surgery with her, but were told that the vet could come out to the car to put her to sleep there so that we could all be there. Once we arrived, we were kept waiting in said car park for over 40 minutes. I completely understand that emergencies happen and that the most urgent cases will take priority, but there was a queue of cars, and people on foot all waiting to be seen - I feel that the call handler should have been able to give an indication of how busy they were when I called. Our next interaction was with a nurse who wanted to see if they should run tests etc. we’d done all that at our regular vets - we had no need to further understand that our dog wasn’t coming out of this alive. Once we have made the difficult and distressing decision to let her go, I felt it wasn’t helpful to have the nurse basically asking if we’d done everything we could for her. Having said all that, the vet himself was fab and looked after our dog’s exit from the world with professionalism and dignity.

The service was as best as it can be at a horrible time of losing our dog, however having been asked to send my feedback before I even have my dogs ashes back is a bit out of order dont you think!!!!

My elderly persian cat suffered a stroke the other Sunday morning so had to be taken to this out of hours veterinary surgery to be put to sleep.
The young Vet was very helpful, respectful and showed empathy. He had time for us even carrying her out wrapped in her blanket to the car for us after she had been put to sleep.
A few days later we received a sympathy card from them which I thought was very nice considering my cat had never been to this veterinary practice before.
I cannot fault the service we received.
J. N.
Cannot fault the care and expertise to save my dog. After eating poisonous mushrooms. However one vet needs a lesson in diplomacy made me feel i maybe making the wrong decision for him as prognosis was not good
and the cost was very high. However, he pulled through and is happy and well. so thankfully I made the right choice .

I can understand why there are so many animals out there that suffer in pain. Vet fees are astronomical! My charge was just under £1200 ! When they quoted it wasn’t made clear and looked like my bill was going to be between £650/£700. They asked for a £350 deposit. So thought ok I’d have to find another £350 on collection.I had been told by the vet that my pet would be discharged Sunday pm. So at 6pm I thought I’d better just check to see what’s happening. The vet said “you got my voice Mail 30minutes ago then ?” Erm no !!!! Lucky I rang them as they’d obviously rang a wrong number. Then when I arrived I was asked for £846.59!
I was like hang on I was quoted £650/ £700 ! So the nurse said I’ll speak to the vet . So then she came back to me with £80 reduction as he thought she was staying another night !
These prices are absolutely absurd! It’s not about the pets health anymore it’s all about money! My animals are all insured thank goodness. But imagine a family that doesn’t have insurance. And gone are the days where you took your pet to your own vets day or night. Now it’s all these massive money making machines doing the “out of hours service “ I’m glad my girl is ok. But I was not impressed how the bill was explained to me. Or the ridiculous charges. But unfortunately they have you right where they want you. As it’s your beloved pet and you will do anything to save them.
F. S.
Vetsnow were amazing. They took the time to make my DOG’S passing so much easier to bear. He literally just went to sleep. No distress, pain or upset. They of course examined him and listened to his history but felt this was the right decision.

On the 28th of December 2021 we had to take our beautiful dog Charlie to the vets, he hadn’t eaten since Christmas Day and was not drinking unless we actually feed him the water.bless him he was being sick about 4 times a day and was exhausted.
For 16 years Charlie had been the most loving loyal dog you could ever wish for but unfourtunatley due to his age it was explained to us that his problem could be one of two possible things, both involved X-ray various tests and at the end of these tests it might have ment there was nothing they could do for him anyway, he was very weak anyway and unwell, to have put him through lots of testing and pulling about just didn’t seem fair so we made the decision to put Charlie to sleep the hardest thing we had to do. However the staff was very supportive we have a large family and Charlie had been part of all of our lives everyday, we got the family together and traveled to the vets where Charlie had been left earlier that day once we arrived we was asked to park around the back and they brought Charlie out to us, he was placed in the back of our car where we were all able to kiss and cuddle him as well as put his loyal companion Ruby the pug with him. As we cuddled and took it in turns to kiss and be with him the vet gave him the medication. Charlie slipped peacefully away and we were allowed as much time as we wanted. I can’t remember the two ladies names but thank you they were both kind and very caring as well as professional, thank you again. We had Charlie cremated and he is now back home with us all. But what was a horrible unexpected event was made better by the kind staff members who reassured us and explained anything we wanted to know thank you from the bottom of our broken hearts xx

We cannot praise this vets enough. They were so organised and efficient, even though it was a busy out of normal hours time.
The staff were so friendly and caring we cannot fault them. We would be happy to use the practice if it was our local vets.
Our usual vet was closed so we had to travel to Colchester for what we thought was an emergency but turned out not to but as serious as it could have been. Therefore the cost we were quoted over the phone was rightly adjusted to a lower price. Thank you to everyone at the practice.

Vets Now were there to care for our puppy when he had to have an overnight stay. The staff were always extremely friendly and caring throughout the stay. I was able to get frequent updates and the vet caring for him called me in the evening giving a full update and also made sure he came home at the earliest opportunity. Great service!

My girlfriends family cat was hit by a car. After being transferred here from haven to continue his care, vets now handled him extremely well. They cared for him and even stayed past closing time so we could bring him back to our usual vets. Unfortunately his body suffered late onset trauma from the accident and his great condition deteriorated quickly with a sudden high volume of fluid going into his lungs. The vet was polite enough to deliver the bad news outside away from other people an allow me the time to make calls to decide what was to be done. She was calm and supportive. Told me exactly what happened and what was going to happen.
I can't thankyou enough for helping him.

We had the most distressing time when we took our beloved 2 year cat Maizie to this emergency vets. She had at the beginning of the week been diagnosed with a very rare Leukaemia, she had earlier had treatment at RVC and we hoped against all the odds she would be ok as she was a fighter. We had 4 extra days with her where everything seemed normal, sadly nearly one week later it wasn’t to be, we had to make that decision. The staff and especially the vet who saw Maizie couldn’t have been more sympathetic and caring, her bloods were back to 10% another transfusion wasn’t possible. They allowed us as much time with her as we wanted and we were with her until the end , everything was on our terms with saying goodbye, mu daughter and I were the last people she closed her eyes to so and easy held, we are so grateful for that. The aftercare has been great, we received her back in less than a week and a condolences card with some forget-me-not seeds to plant. Thank you for all you did to allow us that time with her.
P. B.
First class response via the phone to the problem we had. No complaints with regard to the veterinary care
The only complaint was being told to stay in the car because of covid restrictions as the temperature was only 2c and we sat for nearly 3 hours before we were allowed to see the vet which seemed excessive as the waiting room was empty would point out we are both in our late 70s
Otherwise excellent response

I cannot thank the vets at Vetsnow enough, I got seen so quickly and the care they gave my puppy was incredible. The nurses & vets gave me so much helpful advise at a time that could have been really stressful so I just want to send the biggest thank you to them all xx
S.
We had an emergency appointment and the vet was so helpful and asked lots of questions as we were not allowed inside the surgery to tell/show what the issue was. The phone staff were very helpful in getting us an appointment and were very kind & compassionate.
B.
Absolutely fabulous. Everyone knowledgable, polite & extremely kind.
Cannot find any faults whatsoever.
Throughly recommended. Best vets ever 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

My dog had to go in for monitoring and treatment over night due to consuming a massive amount of toxin. They did everything they could to help him including speaking to the Veterinary Poisons Information Service so that they could get a tailored care plan based on what and how much he had ingested. The vet taking care of him was lovely and she kept us updated every step of the way, my dog was very comfortable with her and when I picked him up the next morning he was perfectly happy. I believe that what they did to help him saved his life and I couldn't be more grateful!

Late night call to the on call vet. Great service and nice staff. Thanks.

Really happy with the service and care . Our 13 year old dog Henry became pretty unwell whilst staying in Clacton . Having phoned the emergency vet with our concerns , we were sent a text message with all the necessary information required to get him seen asap. Having arrived after a 30 min drive, we were met by 2 really friendly veterinary nurses , who took Henry into the practice. After 10 mins the Vet rang me to give us his thoughts and our options. He gave him some medication to make him more comfortable. The following day we returned home to see our local vet. All the information gathered that evening blood tests etc were sent via email to our regular vets who was able to make a diagnosis . After a shot of anti inflammatory pain killers and antibiotics Henry is wagging his tail again . We were given such piece of mind at a very worrying time highly recommend this emergency practice.

After my dog having a serious op I was told to transfer him to vets now due to him being unstable. Covid restrictions adhered to. Friendly staff that kept me fully informed of the treatment plan and how they would manage his needs. Thankfully my boy made it through the night! He was home by the following evening and when I called at 2:30 in the morning they were on hand with great advice for me to manage him at home. He’s not out the woods yet but he’s doing very well and I’m so grateful.

We had an emergency appointment for our puppy and from the initial phone call right through to treatment, the advisers and vets were incredible. They were calm and helpful and put us through to our local out-of-hours vets quickly and even texted Google maps directions, which really helps if you don’t know the area, particularly if you are upset and have a poorly pet with you in the car. The vets were kind and caring and kept us informed about what was happening.
I can highly recommend Vets Now.

My dog had toxic poisoning and was admitted overnight. The vet, the nurse and the staff were all very caring and kept me updated. They saved her life! She is now home and up to her mischief and back to her cheeky self. Can't thank the team enough. Thank you!!

I used this service on Tuesday due to my puppy throwing up. I was charged £289 for the consultation and the anti-sickness injection. This is extremely highly priced and I feel like I was taken advantage of to help my poorly animal.
I was also charged (as part of the £289) £16 ‘admin fee’- this is to cover me apparently claiming through my insurance and for their time.
The initial call was helpful and service to my puppy Logan as good, it’s the cost that I take objection with.

We took our dog here on a Sunday as he was vomiting and unable to even keep water down. The staff were very good and the vet very helpful. She did blood tests and administered an injection and other medication. We got a bill for £550. We had to go to our own vet next day for further treatment. Another bill.
But be warned - Vets Now take 3 weeks to complete insurance claim forms.
One week on and our own vets claim has already been submitted and paid out.
Vets Now still has the form sitting on a desk. Not good especially when all they want to know is are you insured.

Vets Now Colchester are a professional team of people, who took complete care of our beloved dog in his last hours.
Easy to contact, approachable, caring and compassionate. Our only wish is we had used this veterinary practice all the time.
I would highly recommend them.

The very caring staff looked after our very ill dog. They were extremely kind and considerate to myself and my husband also in very distressing circumstances. Our dog pulled through his crisis. IVets Now service saved our dog. Thank you especially to Caitlin for you understanding and compassion.
C. S.
Very polite staff who kept me informed all the time regarding treatment of my injured cat. Had to take cat here out of hours so quite expensive, but worth it if you value your pets wellbeing.
W. S.
Our dog was ill over Christmas and he is fit and healthy again after their care and treatment.
Good to use in an emergency.

Only complaint I have is it took three hours to get a vet out for my dog who was very poorly and needed to be put to sleep other than that I have no faults with the vets now service. My dog was treated with the dignity and care he deserved when the vets arrived. Very caring and understanding service. Many thanks.

Took our dog Arya here on thursday night. It was an emergency appointment after she was neutered. She really just needed an anti sickness jab. They done their job as expected, but need to give a mention regarding the lady on the phone. Unfortunately cannot recall her name. Very friendly and chatty and if your pet is in a worse situation than mine was, the type of person who seems would help to offer comfort. An asset to the practice. This was around 9.30 on Thursday 14th January

We used the emergency night service and were so pleased we did. Michelle, the vet on night duty, was concerned but thoroughly on top of the situation and completely reassuring. Excellent service and treatment, expensive but that is what one would expect for such good out of hours emergency service. Diagnosis and prescribed medication were evidently spot on as our dog is now almost completely recovered.
E. F.
Vets Now were brilliant! The 'phone was answered promptly, we explained the problem Jed, the person we spoke to, reassured us, told us exactly what we had to do to get our dog examined, where we had to go and at what time. At the actual vets it was well organised although they were working under pressure because staff sickness. Our dog was seen quickly, the examination was explained to us, drugs were administered and prescribed. Very impressed with the whole process. Well done Vets Now and Penrose Vets
C. A.
Excellent service on a Sunday morning. The vet was very calm and relaxed and listened carefully. She was very relaxed but thorough when she examined my dog. The vet made a diagnosis and gave my dog some treatment. I was very impressed with the service.

We had to take our cat Tallulah to Vets Now as she injured herself jumping out of a window. Due to her erratic breathing and not knowing how injured she was the staff came and dealt with her quickly, as they were worried she may have injured herself internally. Luckily she only injured her back leg but the staff kept us up to date at all times and helped us to decide the best route to take for her recovery. Covid is not the best time to be dealing with emergency situations but the staff at Vets Now have got a great system going and not once was i concerned. Thank you to all the staff that dealt with Tallulah.
M. T.
We took our 13 3/4 year old German Shepherd there unfortunately to be put to sleep. Have never been before but very compassionate and caring.
The vet took her time and gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye.
Later on in the week we received a card from them and a pack of Forget Me Not seeds to plant to remember our dog by.
Thanks very much.
H. B.
Lovely staff , very polite and helpful. Just makes me very cross how much more it costs you to see vet during the night. My doggy had conjunctivitis , they checked her eyeball with dye and gave her ointment , it cost £265! I do have Insurance but it's crazy money.
Happy with vet s care and practise though.
L. H.
I had to take my dog to Vets Now on a Sunday after she had been bitten.
I can’t fault the care she was given and the vet was very nice.
However, although I expect to be charged extra for out of hours and I was told over the phone that there would be a charge of £162.00 plus treatment, the rest of the treatment was overly expensive. I weeks supply of antibiotics (14 tablets) was £76! I think this is extortionate and is deliberately hiked up as you don’t really have any choice. Half an hour there has cost £405 so far.
I give Vets Now 4 stars though as we are very lucky to have the service and the treatment was very good
C. R.
Excellent practice. Our poor cat was vomiting violently, our vets were so busy with at least a four hour wait
They suggested Vets Now Colchester. They were very friendly and helpful. The vet saw our cat within 5 min. He was very helpful. Would recommend Vets Now Colchester am very pleased with them.

After being unable to reach our own vet when our dog collapsed, I contacted VetsNow. They were caring, understanding and very helpful over the phone and once we reached the surgery they were amazing at a very difficult time and talked us through everything that was happening. Although our visit ended sadly, for us, we are grateful for the service we recieved.
T.
We needed an urgent vet service as our usual vets (Colne Valley) declined to come out and help. So we ended up at Vets Now. Vets Now, along with Claire from Pet Ambulance were absolutely brilliant, caring, professional and sympathetic etc, as it became evident we were to say goodbye to our Phoebe (our beautiful Great Dane, Harlequin). Excellent service, thank you so much!
W. H.
A big thank you for the respsct and kindness shown to me when sorting out the heartbreaking task of arranging a cremation for Ralph. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you 😊
D. L.
My cat became seriously ill whilst I was on my honeymoon. The cattery took her to the vets and they contacted us in Cyprus to let us know how she was doing and kept us up to date with the procedures and meds required. They did everything they could for her but, unfortunately, couldn't take any more. She was just too weak. I believe they helped her as much as they could and helped her pass in the most dignified manner.
S. A.
Unluckly I've been here three times in the last year but on every occasion all staff have been polite and empathetic.
I've taken my cat and dog here for out of hours treatment and they've been very well looked after.
Side note:
Very pricey if you don't have insurance get ready to pay up
( only commenting on out of hours vet service)

we came to vets now in the early hours of Thursday morning with our beautiful staffy saffron. The treatment we received from.the moment we walked in was with nothing but love and compassion. The lady in triage who took saffrons observations was kind and gentle with her and talked us and saffron through everything she was doing. Victoria Perez was the vet who looked after saffy in her final hour and was also amazing with her and explained everything to us that was going to happen. It was the hardest day of our lifes to loose our beautiful girl but some comfort for the compassion of the staff at vets now that night it felt like they really cared about how we felt and also made it as best amd comfortable they could for saffy as possible.
D. B.
They saw my bunny very quickly when she was very unwell. They talked through the options throughly. It ended up that the kindest thing was to PTS. There are several options that you can do when your pet is PTS there regarding cremations, taking them home etc. We were given time to discuss these options and come to an agreement. Really nice touch that they sent out a condolence card a few days later with a packet of 'forget me not' seeds. Thanks for helping in this difficult time.
G. H.
Thought the care they gave my dog was pretty good but bit disappointed that they had called to say they didn’t think they had got to bottom of the cause of pain and wanted to monitor and test more, they done one test for the pancreas which was fine and that was it and then sent her home still in pain with no pain relief or antibiotics for the infection they said she had and no real answer to what caused it and never once until I went to pick her up did they let me know they were wanting me to pay the whole amount on pick up even though she is insured.
M. G.
Vets now took over at midday after penrose did emergency op on my dog, they made sure she was OK to bring home and we picked her up later that day
S. M.
A big thank you to all at vets now Colchester especially Caitlyn who saved my chihuahua Archies life on Thursday night. I never expected that he would come home again but because of the excellent care he received at vets now and Highcliff vets he is back where he belongs
J. R.
Vets now were professional friendly and very helpful. I was very worried about my pet and the staff were excellent in relieving my fears abd my pet was ok
C. J.
I want to mention that I found it very disturbing being asked to leave my very poorly dog in the surgery with the nurse so I could pay the bill before she was put to sleep. I refused because I did not want my dog worrying that I had left her in the room with a stranger bearing in mind it was going to be the last moments of her life. It didn't sit right with me.
Other than that the staff were kind thank you
S. B.
Unfortunately we went home to find one of our rabbits had suddenly died, we contacted vets now as they are out of hours and the accepted to take her and have her creamated. I must admit the last thing I was thinking of was what it would cost as I just wanted to let her go somewhere nice. But the vetenary nurse was so nice and helpful and explained everything to us as I was crying my eyes out, also allowing us time to think about what we wanted to do with ashes etc.. obviously nothing comes for free but was plesently surprised that actually they didn't want to much to take her and do it all for us.
Hopefully won't need to use any time soon, but would definitely do so if nesscary.. Thank you.. x
S. K.
We have had to take both our dogs on several occasions...excellent care. However, I have had to drop a star as £15.00 plus for a Piriton!!!. We all know that we get what we pay for but this was a little extortionate.
T. B.
The staff were professional but so empathetic in the way the met us and spent time with us .
They are excellent at the service the provide and the card and seeds sent after were so touching - thank you!
N. C.
Vets Now were absolutely amazing with my poorly cat! We didn’t have to wait long when we arrived and when we saw the vet she was so friendly and understanding and really helped my cat! Thank you Vets Now!

Professional caring service… couldn’t have asked for anything better

Very caring and understanding. Lovely staff.

The only thing I can say is amazing. The amount of care our dog got was outstanding.
Never felt like rushed or misinformed about what was goung on.

Brilliant! Our dog is awful with Vets and worse when in pain. Vet was excellent at dealing with our dog who remained calm the whole time, with minimal stress.
J. M.
Great service and sympathetic help. They saw my little dog through a worrying weekend and I am happy to say she is much better. Thank you so much.

We got to vets not at 5:30am so the vet and nurse had had a long night already, but they were still happy and helpful. They did their best for my poor Wilma.
P. G.
The vet and nurses were great. Very kind and supportive and kept me informed about the progress of my cat.

Very compassionate and caring during an upsetting time having to make the decision to have our cat put to rest
J.
The telephone conversation was very helpful. It helped us that we had not got an emergency and we dealt with the matter the next day in the normal way.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks

The staff were so kind and considerate. Our visit was a late at night emergency, and the patient care of all, meant such a lot to us. Thoroughly recommend these services.
