Our German Shepherd Troy was on palliative care, when during the early hours of Thursday morning he started bringing up frothy sick. We had to take him to dovecote veterinary hospital, and they were wonderful in explaining the options and Troy's that Troy didn't have many hours left. They were absolutely amazing with their empathy and care for Troy and us. Thank you so much for giving us peace at our time of sorrow.

We had to rush our Douglas down from West Yorkshire one Friday morning for an emergency MRI, it turned out our poor boy had a slipped disc and had to go through surgery. Us not being able to stay down in Derbyshire was really difficult for us but the team at Dovecote on his 5 day stay was absolutely amazing, a special mention to Sara his surgeon and everyone who took care of Douglas whilst he was there. We were kept up to date with his progress by phonecalls, photos and videos. For the 7 years of having Douglas he's never left our sides so the distance was very difficult but knowing he was settled and happy with all the staff meant the world to us! We just want to say a massive thank you! For making such a difficult and unexpected situation that little bit better.

Absolutely fantastic care of my dog who came to Dovecote for spinal surgery. From start to finish, everything was clear and professional. Matt the surgeon has been so caring and thorough and I can’t say thank you enough to him for everything he has done. We received photos of our boy whilst he was in hospital each day for 4 days every morning by molly and even sent us little updates on the food he was eating and how he loved a cuddly toy they gave to him to sleep with. I felt like they really cared about us and my dog which meant the world to us. It was so nice to see he was calm and being looked after well. Thank you dovecote and the team, you are brilliant!!

Called at 8:00pm worried about our cat who had thrown up blood. They asked us to drive straight there. They checked her out, and gave us medication. Great service. And the cats ok now😻

Reggie was cared for over night by Paulina after Reggie was clipped by a car outside my house. Paulina communicated how Reggie had been overnight and how he had improved in her care. Great care delivered at a difficult time, but thanks to all the vets and veterinary carers Reggie is recovering well from his accident.

AMAZING! So much care towards us and my dog during his long stay at the hospital (6 days in total). Kept up to date with daily progress calls from the vet and nurses. My sister recently had to have her dog put to sleep here also and she received a card with paw prints and a nose print attached with some lovely words. It made us all cry happy tears & is something we can cherish forever. Thank you dovecote for your kindness and compassion for end of life & patients who you nurture back to health. You’re amazing.

Our little mini dachshund Rosie had an exploded disc in her back. Our local vet recommended Dovecote Vets to us. They gave us a 9.30am appointment the very next day. She was checked over, MRI and operated on within hours. They gave our little girl the chance to possibly walk again. Sergio was her neurologist. He was amazing. He called us very morning to let us know how she was getting on. All of the nurses was great too. Can’t express how grateful we are and how amazing this vets is. Thank you!

We found an abandoned and emaciated cat on our way home on a Saturday evening, and it was clearly very unwell. We found the number for MiNightVet / Dovecote at Castle Donington, and the member of staff was extremely helpful so we took the cat to her. Although in the end the cat was too far gone to be saved, and had to be put to sleep, we were so grateful that we had somewhere to take her for assessment at a time when most vets were closed. The whole episode was quite distressing but the staff at Dovecote were excellent.

If you live in Castle Donington I cannot recommend this vets highly enough. All the staff are really helpful, friendly and don't just treat you or your pet like a number, they really cared for my dog in her old age. The healthy pet club was great and ensured that my dog was happy and we could monitor for any changes in her as she got older. They were especially amazing when she died, ensuring she got the best care possible whilst we got a diagnosis and providing me with the information and support I needed at such a horrible time. Each member of staff was compassionate and helpful.

We were referred to Dovecote to see a Neurologist for our 3 year old pug. We had the pleasure of meeting a lovely guy Matt Green who is very professional and very knowledgeable. He did all he could to find out why our pug is experiencing weird symptoms. Nothing was too much trouble, any question I fired at him, he answered with intelligence and compassion. Mr White was absolutely fantastic with my nervous rescue dog. He explained everything that he was going to do, he answered all my questions and put my mind at rest. After her operation, he rang me as promised and talked me through the healing process and what to expect. She is now fully recovered and leading the pain free life that she deserves to. Kimberly and the team have been amazing. We had been referred to Dovecote as our dog Lottie was having issue but we couldn’t get to the bottom of, on having an MRI we had the heartbreaking news that it was a tumour in her spine and they would not be able to operate. The after service has been amazing, when we have needed urgent advice they have been there for us whether that be 8pm or 8am. Thank you so much for all you have done for us.

Staff were brilliant. I had to use the out of hours emergency for my dog, there was an unexpected wait due to an emergency case but staff saw he was in pain and gave some meds to help him whilst he waited. Everything was explained and the staff were really friendly and very professional.

Only 2 visits so far but the staff have been great over the phone and in person. They felt genuine and caring which is most important when I'm taking my poorly old dog in for care. They also dealt with my pet insurance claim promptly on both occasions. Definitely recommend them.

I have nothing but praise for Dovecote Veterinary Hospital. We were referred to them so our young puppy could be examined by the neurologist for a suspected brain malformation. Sadly she had to be euthanised a few days later. The reception staff and the neurologist (Thomas) treated us with the utmost care and compassion at all stages, whether on the phone, in person or by email. Thank you to all at Dovecote for making an awful time more bearable for us, we would highly recommend the practice to anyone.

My cat got hit by a car. I took her to My local vets but needed to take her here for special care. When we arrived my local vets had already sent xrays across and didn't wait to long before we saw the vet. He was a lovely man who explained to us everything that was going to happen. After the operation, we saw the same vet who talked us through what he did. He did a fantastic job. Our cat is on the road to recovery. The reception ladies spoke to us kindly as I was very upset. The best vet practice in the wider area. Has convenient links to Beeston and Ilkeston for out of hours service. Always someone available to help with your pet. Paula and team really care about your pet throughout their development stages. Strange times right now not being able to go into treatment rooms but vets happy to speak to you face to face, with a competent reception team arranging medication, so you dont run out of flea treatments etc.

Can't say enough good about this place. Our dachshund pup broke her leg and we got referred here. Bruce did an amazing job, performing a tricky op to pin our little ones leg and another flawless op to remove the pins a few weeks later. She's now making a full recovery and has no complications. Everyone here was friendly, understanding and most of all very very good at what they do. If you get referred here just know you're pet is in the best hands.

I've been taking my pets to Dovecote Veterinary Hospital for many years and have always received great service. The staff and vets are friendly and helpful and, with it being a hospital, you know you'll get the best knowledge, advice and experienced vets, as well as quick diagnoses. The facilities are good, clean and tidy, and there's adequate free parking.

I was referred here by my local vet as my 10 year old Labrador has breathing issues and problems with his back legs. We saw a lovely vet called Mark who explained that having seen and assessed him, an operation would not be the best course of action. He was really kind to my boy, who was understandably stressed at being at the vets, especially after a 3 hour car journey! Even though the news I was given wasn't what I expected, I felt confident with the diagnosis I was given - well worth the long journey.
