Reviews of Edinburgh Cat Protection League

Got the most adorable cat called stitch. He has settled in really well. He has taken over my house and heart completely. Adopting a new friend for life and the staff make it a very good experience from the start. Would highly recommend.

Took Ash home on Saturday, cat protection league were amazing. So helpful and lots of advice. He's taking a few days to settle but starting to enjoy his new home

Exactly 10 years ago today, my wife and I went to the Edinburgh Cat Protection League, walked into the main room, then this gorgeous (and quite large) long hair tabby called Romy simply 'picked' us. She was already around 8 years old then, and would have been around 18 today but sadly we lost her after a long battle with Diabetes three months ago. We will always be grateful to the staff for their dedication, professionalism, and for the amazing company she was and the happy memories she gave us.
If you're thinking in adopting a rescue cat, the Edinburgh Cat Protection League is a very good option indeed, my only advice however would be to change the Veterinary as soon as you adopt it. as Batchelor, Davidson & Watson, (their default Veterinary Practice) is not only extortionately expensive, and very poorly run, but they really do not care at all about the welfare of the cats, they only care about money.

They do great work with a lot of challenging cases and cats that might not be wanted.
They offer support to people who take on cats with issues, paying for future vetinary care relating to any specific issues the cat leaves with. They also have a range of supplies at really good prices.
I cannot sing their praises enough.

We adopted a beautiful cat from here. She's settled in amazing well and we all love her.

We adopted our Mr Tibs from here later last year and he has settled in amazingly. Couldn’t recommend this place enough as we love this lil character with everything

Got MAJA a 2 yrs 2months old cat on Tuesday. She's settled in well in her new home NO DOUBT DUE TO THE WAY KIM AND LUKE from the ECP look after the cats waiting to be rehomed ALL THE BEST GEORGE AND JANE 24LP

We adopted a fantastic cat from the cat protection league. They allowed us lots of time to get to know all the cats as it was so hard to choose. Then they made sure our new best friend got all the medical attention he needed (at their expense) before he was allowed to come home with us. I would recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt a cat.

Took my cat, Daisy, along here on Thursday, and the gentleman that greeted us at the door was very kind. It's the first time I've had to give up on a family member, but it just wasn't working with my 4yr old autistic daughter, Daisy absolutely scared the life out of her, even though it wasn't daisy's fault. I hope she goes to a loving family as she really is a nice house cat. You will always be missed, daisy ( wee sassy) Thank you ECPL for taking her in, I know you will take very good care of her like I did.

This place is simply outstanding. Helpful, dedicated and always maintains a high standard of care given to the animals and well as a polite discourse with the public which puts many for profit otganisations to shame. Five stars

I got a lovely cat from here on Friday. I think they operate pretty much on a shoestring but they clearly care and all the cats are cared for well.

Fantastic job they do here, poor we cats either rescued or adult cats & the lovely dogs needing re-homed .thank god we have caring people like them. The staff are like the nhs staff in hospitals ,if it wasn't for the staff the poor wee animals would have nothing or know one .

Wonderful place. It's tucked away and you would never guess from the outside how many cats they have in there! Cats are obviously well-taken care off and the staff members I spoke to were lovely and very knowledgable about all the cats there. They are a non-kill shelter, which is a big plus for me, and they also have both indoor and outdoor cats - which is nice as some shelters do seem to be of the mind that only an outdoor cat can be a happy cat. The only hard part was I wanted to take them all home with me! I now have two lovely new boys who are settling in nicely, so can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a new furry family member.

Fab shop lots of cute cat things to buy

This is really a good place to find a cat if you are serious about getting a new addition to the household, particularly if you're looking for indoor cats. None of the other shelters in Edinburgh have even remotely near the number of indoor cats that the Edinburgh Cat Protection League has, of all ages and types. And though the service could be ... nicer, the staff are really there to protect the cats and they do a good job of loving and taking care of these animals. Don't let the service put you off. After all, you're not buying a cat; you're retrieving one from a cat rescue.
Go in, meet the cats (they let you take them out and pet them) and take some time to think about your decision. Talk to the member of staff on duty about the cat you are interested in. Then go back again and get your cat. It's best to book appointments or call in advance. The service improves considerably on your second visit (I think it's because they know your serious by then). We got our cat and she's a delight - absolutely perfect for us. The cats here really need homes, so you should really consider this great resource.

I have visited this centre a few times to look at potential fur babys. The staff are always very polite and helpful in trying to match you with the right fur baby. An amazing charity to support!

Surprised by scale of the facility. Staff (Sarah) very friendly and spoke honestly about cats available for adoption. This charity puts getting cats together with local residents we love our cat Holly! Give to this charity adopt one or more of their lovely cats!

I visited in September 2016 while visiting Edinburgh and gave them £ 50 as a donation. I felt unwelcome and hardly received a thanks, the notes were just thrown into a chest of drawers. But as long as the cats are well cared for...

This is a great charity and a lovely place to go if you are looking for a new pet cat.All cats are neutered and chipped also free insurance for the first month they have all been thoroughly checked over by a local vet and received there vaccines before they are put up for adoption. Most of the staff are volunteers and spend lots of time and affection with all the cats and home visits are made before adoption goes through I also have had a couple of cats from the shelter and I donate money to sponsor apen every month as the really on charity to keep them going good for a day out and take your kids to meet the cats .

(Translated) They took good care of me. I was able to take a cat the same day. They do checks to make sure they are healthy and ask you questions to make sure that the cat is right for you and that the cat is in good hands. Very nice staff

Me atendieron muy bien. Pude llevarme un gato el mismo día. Hacen controles para asegurarse de que están sanos y te hacen preguntas para asegurarse de que gato es adecuado para ti y de que el felino estará en buenas manos. Personal muy agradable
