The whole process from this charity was so professional. We first found a dog we wanted to adopt, applied and had a home check. We were successful and signed the adoption papers. We paid the fees and was updated regularly on the process. When it come to the transport of our new addition, the service was spot on. We joined a group and we were updated on the whole journey from Romania to home. I would be the first person to comment if I was not happy with something, but this charity were amazing. I know you may read some negative reviews relating to payments, rudeness etc but I experienced none of this. Top marks to this charity....

Absolutely brilliant rescue. Their sole priority is the welfare of their dogs they rescue and they take their job very seriously. They may come across as “blunt” but I feel many rescues are like this because they are usually small run businesses and need to be to the point to avoid time wasters.
You are given multiple pre-warnings and guides on what to expect with a Romanian rescue - which are completely different to rescues from the UK. They video call you and give you tips, and when a successful home check is done, you can stay in touch with your home checker even after the dog is adopted, who can give you guidance and support for if you ever need it. When the dog is transported over they give frequent updates on where they are and their progress, and give you an ETA. They have a rescue backup if anything does go wrong and you have to give up the dog, and are very professional about this as well.
Cannot recommend them enough. Very thorough rescue who make sure to really educate you and help you know what to expect.

We can't thank LCRR enough. They do incredible work to give these dogs the best life. We adopted through them and received our lad yesterday. They care so much and have so much compassion for the animals. He turned up at the end of a very, very long journey from Romania seeming really chilled out and is adjusting to his new life incredibly well. Given the start to his life, it's miraculous that he trusts humans at all but he's been cared for by LCRR and they've clearly taught him that humans are trustworthy and loving. We couldn't be happier or more grateful. I would recommend anybody who's serious about getting a dog goes to LCRR. Thank you, all!

This is a small rescue centre with big hearts. They absolutely put the welfare of their dogs first. Rescuing from Romania is not the same as the UK and these dogs have been though so much. They are committed to finding the right loving home for their pups and it is an honour to be chosen. From the moment our application was accepted we have received so much support. A structured routine to help our dog settle well and a volunteer assigned to us, who we can contact at any time. They are experienced and professional.

Last Chance Rescue are an organisation that really, truly care about their dogs' (and cats) wellbeing. I adopted a 1 year old puppy in August and she came neutered and fully vaccinated. The shelter in Romania post updates about the reserved dogs before they travel, so you can keep an eye on your future pooch while you wait for their transport to leave. The application form is detailed but straight forward, and I was contacted within hours of sending it. I had a relaxed virtual homecheck with one of the friendly and hardworking UK-based volunteers, where everything I'd need to know about adopting a Romanian rescue dog was explained to me in detail. The UK based volunteers stay in touch after your dog has arrived, offering essentially 24 hour advice and support if needed - they really want every adoption to be a success for the dogs' sake, and any failed adoptions are returned into UK foster homes from the charity's network of dog owners.
All in all, I had a fantastic, straight-forward experience with Last Chance. They judge each potential owner on a case-by-case basis, unlike UK rescue centres, who ruled me out due to my full time job (even though I'm an outdoor worker and the dog was going to come to work with me). The negative reviews I've seen all seem to be from unsuccessful applicants who experienced blunt "no"s or no response. This charity is run by volunteers who have their own lives, and as far as I can tell, they receive a huge number of applications to look through - they simply don't have the time for long-winded, apologetic rejection emails/messages. But as long as you're a suitable potential adopter, they are sure to get back to you, and if you're the right match for the dog, you will have a great experience with Last Chance and your new Romanian family member!

We adopted this gorgeous little creature from Last Chance Rescue Romania.
The whole process was seamless from start to finish. I cannot rate them highly enough, an absolutely amazing group of volunteers.
The process was very efficient and professional, from the initial telephone consultation and the home check, through to the arrival of our little bundle of fun.
The information, guidance and support they provide is second to none.
I would give Last Chance Rescue Romania 10 stars if I could!

Got my beautiful Aimee from here in August 2018. But we had photos and video updates from the start of thatJuly when we 1st asked for her...right through to her journey across Europe to our loving care. And the love and support didn't stop there. It is a little community, offering advice and support, sharing photos of loved and loving dogs that are our common bond. A remarkable charity with a heart of gold and compassion.

We had a great experience adopting a rescue dog through Last Chance. We were very lucky to speak to Colleen and Stacey over the phone and by video call who were so helpful and friendly. Last Chance are very thorough and have the dogs welfare at the heart of all they do. You need to be prepared for this, as it is the mark of a good rescue that they vet each application with care. Our dog arrived with us in July and has been an absolute dream. He is a beautiful, friendly and gentle soul who was very well cared for by Monika. Monika is an angel who rescues any animal in need and they are so clearly loved. I have been asked by many people on my walks where we got our rescue boy from, and have had no reservations to recommend Last Chance. Thank you for trusting me with one of your precious dogs, Monika!

We recently adopted a Romanian puppy through Last Chance Rescue and the entire process from start to finish was completely professional. Even after our puppy arrived, they offer support to make sure everything is going okay and that our puppy is settling okay. I've seen a few reviews from people that are disgruntled that they have been unsuccessful but they are unsuccessful for a good reason. If they saw what Monika has recently gone through and how much work her and her volunteers put in, they would understand why the applications and home checks are vital and that not anyone can just expect to adopt a dog.
Would 100% recommend to anyone.

A brilliant organisation. There is so much care and attention to detail: it as all about the animals. If you are ready and willing to care for a dog, and you have an appropriate environment and lifestyle to support one, do not be put off by the application process. It’s not lengthy or difficult but they do get a lot of applicants and they want to be absolutely sure you can give the dog a good home. We are only a few days in with our new pup, but LCR was amazing - the transparency, thoroughness of paperwork, vaccines and care were so impressive. There is also a support network of volunteers and staff, and the Facebook community seems lovely.

We adopted a young dog through Last Chance Rescue. Their home check, via Zoom, was very thorough. Their preadoption advice was in depth They make it clear that adopting a rescue dog is not an easy option. They were reassuringly thorough. The process from adoption to receiving the dog was smooth. Post adoption there is support and an active Facebook group.I have recommended them to other potential adopters

We were lucky enough to adopt from this small family run charity and cannot recommend them enough. The adoption process was extremely straight forward, all the paperwork was spot on, our vet said he has never saw any as good and even after Rudi was in the UK, they have been helpful if we had any questions. Monika and the team are absolutely amazing people, caring, animal lovers and we cannot thank them enough for giving our gorgeous boy a great start to his life. Highly recommend Last Chance and will definitely do it all again.... One day!! x

I have adopted two fantastic dogs from Last Chance Rescue Romania and can't praise the rescue highly enough. The process was so smooth, from the home check to the transport to the aftercare that is always on hand in the form of Joy and Gill.
Monika at Last Chance worked really hard to find me dogs who matched my circumstances and has proved how well she knows the dogs she rescues - mine have both slotted into the family perfectly. Although I hadn't met them before I adopted them, I fell in love with them and got to know them through the regular updates Monika posted for me on Facebook.
Of course, like most rescue dogs, both dogs had their issues. Fawn was petrified of big dogs after being bullied on the streets, and scared of going near any strange buildings. Fast forward 2 years and she doesn't bat an eyelid at either. Issy was abandoned at 10 weeks which resulted in initial bouts of separation anxiety. 7 months later and she's much better. They're beautiful dogs - playful, friendly and loving; and they're great with children, others dogs and smaller animals.
If you're looking to adopt a dog and choose last chance, you'll end up with a lovely dog, great rescue backup and a whole family of other adopters to talk to. So my advice is: DO IT!!!

Three years ago today we had Ziva, our first dog from Last Chance Rescue. They were amazing. The dog you saw was the dog you got. Unlike some rescues abroad.
Monika works tirelessly & lovingly for all the animals in her care, & is known by locals & the vets as a good place to send unwanted animals to to be cared for & rehomed.
The transport is excellent, you are kept up to date where your fur baby is on their journey & their eta. Your fur baby comes with a full passport of treatment & vaccinations.
There is also a great support group after you've got them for any advice, & another group to show how well they are doing.
Since then we have had another 4 dogs & 2 cats from them.
Would recommend them to any one. Love our Last Chance family.

Can’t give enough praise, thoroughly professional and caring from start to finish, there’s plenty of communication along the way with after care advice if required. Can’t fault them just trust them you won’t be disappointed.

I had my gorgeous boy Vinnie from here almost 2 years ago. Cannot rate them highly enough, the support and information was excellent right from the start and the ongoing support still to this day with anything we need. A large community of adopters also keep in touch on their adopters site, nothing is too much trouble. The welfare of the animals is their top priority as it should be. Would adopt from here again in a heartbeat. Wonderful rescue full of love and compassion.

I cannot praise this rescue highly enough! They go above and beyond to make sure their animals are safe, healthy and loved. We got our dog Pip from them in February and the whole process was very smooth and well organised. The transport they use to bring the dogs and cats over to us is very good. The aftercare is also brilliant and you can just tell how much they want the adoptions to succeed and for the dogs and cats to have their happily ever after homes. Would give many more than 5 stars if I could.

16 days ago we took delivery of “Scrunchie” our soul mate! The process to obtain her from Last Chance Rescue Romania was thorough but straightforward. A number of questions were asked which were very valid being as we were unknown to Last Chance. The questions asked were pertinent and demonstrated a professional attitude towards adoption. We have nothing but praise for the work of a last Chance both in Romania and the UK and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering adoption of an animal. Thank you Last Chance, everyone we have dealt with including Monika, Gill, Stacey and your delivery team are first class xxx

Absolutely wonderful rescue. They carry out stringent home checks, give you lots of pre & post adopting advice & are there to support you through the whole process. Their first priority is the dogs welfare. They provided me with great advice and settling in calls. If you are considering adopting from abroad I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.

I got my dog from Last Chance in June 2020 and was very impressed with them. I looked at lots of different rescue centers in Romania, as I know some do it for the profit rather than the dogs wellbeing. When I came across Last Chance I was very impressed and they were highly rated, so I decided they were the place I would adopt from.
They are only a small charity and all the staff are volunteers, but they take adopting thier dogs very seriously. The application process involves filling out the application form first. They then choose a select number of applications for a home visit (during the pandemic it was over video call). During the call I received lots of relevant questions about my experience, motivation and suitability for that dog, plus a tour of my house and garden. They were also very clear that the dog I was trying to adopt was previously a street dog and he may come with unique challenges which I thought was really useful. I was under no illusion after the call what I was letting myself in for, how tough it may be and any extra preparation I needed for adoption. They do a full rescue service if the adoption doesn't work out, so understandably they are also very keen that all applications understand what they are letting themselves in for and they get the correct applicant first time. I was lucky enough to be chosen as the best applicant for Watson and 5 weeks later he was dropped off at my house by a van directly from Romania (or as they call it the happy bus).
They give you strict advice for the first 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months to help the dog settle in and to provide the best chance for the adoption to work. It worked really well for me so I would recommend it's followed for any rescue dog. There was also a case worker who was there for any advice, questions and support which was a useful resource. There is also a support / success page on Facebook so you feel part of a great community.
Watson arrived with all his import paperwork, vaccination history and dog passport. During a recent trip to the vet he remarked he was very impressed by how comprehensive it was. In his career it was only the second dog he had seen from overseas that had all the correct paperwork.
They really know their stuff at Last Chance and they really care about the dogs. I would recommend them to anyone.

This is an amazing rescue with the best interest of the animals at heart. We found the process very thorough, with great communication from the rescue, have ended up with a wonderful dog that is a fantastic match for our family and have had on-going post-adoption support. Would very highly recommend.

Last Chance was efficient and amazing from the beginning. I enquired about a dog and received a response in a timely manner. The home check was thorough, Gill and the volunteers form a great team. They put the dogs’ welfare first and make sure they’re going to the right and suitable home. The volunteers are always willing to help and are just at the end of a text or phone call. From the first enquiry to the transport and delivery of the dogs, everything had been very well organised. Last Chance has given us an amazing dog Ella who has been a wonderful addition to our family! Thank you so much Gill and Stacey!

Last Chance is a fantastic charity. I cant thank them enough for allowing me to adopt Rosie, I applied over the Christmas Holidays and staff couldn't have been more helpful . I paid for my girl on Christmas Day . She arrived in January on the Happy Bus and any help i needed was right there either on the website , Facebook page or telephone . Well done LC. All the dogs are cared for and well looked after by Monika in Romania she is a wonderful lady. The staff at this end are also fantastic. Thank you again for everything you do xx
L. S.
I had two experiences previous to coming across LCR that nearly put me off adopting from abroad. From the first email contact and then the home check, the service was outstanding! The checks were thorough, my kids are older so that wasn't a problem. We get these dogs, many having lots of issues, so you can understand why they won't adopt out to people with young children, not worth the risk. They checked the hours i worked and that someone would be around for the dog because let's be fair, what dog wants to be left alone 8hrs a day. We adopted a beautiful dog, who has come on fabulously in the 5mth we have had her, albeit a few hiccups along the way. Stacey, known as Aunty Stacey now lol has offered outstanding backup. They all do an amazing job and i have already recommended the rescue to various people. I will definately adopt from LCR again when the time is right.

The whole process was so simple, stress free and highly organised. We felt well supported through the process. Our lovely Tiggy was brought straight to our house. I would highly recommend this charity for anyone thinking of adopting.

Absolutely BRILLIANT rescue - the very best I have encountered. Managed with genuine love and very professional - we didn't have even one problem from start to finish. Our darling dog Moon arrived in excellent health aboard a lovely clean van which was specially adapted to carry the animals over from Romania. She was bright eyed and in excellent health. She was slightly apprehensive (of course!) but has fitted in to our home perfectly. We can't imagine life without her and love her dearly. I would not hesitate to recommend LCRR and all their fantastic, helpful staff. I could not fault them and would most definitely consider adopting another dog from them again one day. Monika and her family - and Gill and Joy - all are 100% dedicated to each animals happiness and well being. 10/10 :) XxX

We rescued our dog from Last Chance Rescue Romania in June 2019. Monika is the lady in Romania who takes the dogs in and looks after them until they can be re-homed to the UK or other countries. They travel in a ‘happy bus’ to get here and you’re kept informed of its arrival time. There are many dogs in need of new homes in Romania. The whole process is straight forward and there is a Facebook page you join for follow-up support where you can ask any questions at all. It’s a very supportive group. So if you’re looking for a new puppy or grown up dog LCR is a great option.

We had a really seamless and easy process for adoption and it was the best thing we ever did! It wasn't even a major problem to the our incoming pup to the Highlands for collection. I couldn't reccomend these guys enough

I found this rescue via my sister and I can’t recommend them enough. Layla was well looked after and hand reared after being rescued, they sorted out all the documents and transport.
Even a year down the line they support you with any problems or advice about your recuse pup.

Such an amazing and wonderful rescue and we would highly recommend them. Saved from truly dreadful situations, Monika works tirelessly and gives them all the love and care they need and deserve before being adopted. We found the whole process to be smooth, well organised and in the best interests of the animals, they provide photos and videos and the transport is fabulous with regular updates on progress to the UK and they are really well cared for on their journey.
Everyone involved has been nothing but friendly, polite and really helpful and we know that with the ongoing support we have we can give our beautiful Pippi the best life that she deserves.
We cannot thank you all enough.

The approval process for the adoption is rigorous, thorough and has strict rules, which are designed to keep the dogs' (and adopters') best interest in mind. The 'settling in' rules are clearly explained before the dog is delivered. We found the whole operation very fair.
