This place overflows with love and compassion I have seldom met such dedicated staff. This rescue uses top class vets and groomers, and provides top class food, care and attention. The place is constantly clean and there is always a happy relaxed vibe. They will help any animal in need if it is within their power, without any prejudice, and their stringent homechecking process ensures as much as possible the perfect match. My dog loves visiting, which in itself speaks volumes. I am proud to know them and would never hesitate in recommending them. Unlike many rescues nowadays, with these guys It is never about the money and always about the animals. They genuinely love every animal who comes into their care and do so forever. Thank you ladies.

A fantastic rescue centre. Sandy and her team go above and beyond to ensure that their dogs go to the best homes possible. I have adopted from here and the support offered post adoption was amazing, Sandy will always help if you have any questions or problems. All of the dogs in their care are so well looked after and are given the best care and so much love. If you're not successful first time, it doesn't mean you're not suitable just that there was someone else who could better meet the needs of that particular dog, and that quite rightly is the priority. Absolutely can not fault Sandy ,her team and her volunteers.

We have been very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be Tilly & Rodney’s hoomans to love & care for them , Everyone at East Midlands dog rescue are very friendly & very knowledgeable about the dogs they rescue , love & care for, the staff work around the clock to make sure the dogs are fed walked & kennels are cleaned to a high standard.
Keep up the amazing work

So happy to have adopted our new pal Rupert (Trooper) from Sandy. He's a gorgeous 10 month Galgo pup whose mother was rescued in Spain.
What a wonderful rescue Sandy, Lynn and the volunteers run, they are very passionate about finding the right home for their dogs and have so much love and dedication to keeping them happy and healthy. They really do an amazing job and Sandy made it clear she is there for support whenever we need her. Rupert will have a loving home with us and we are so looking forward to seeing his life unfold and all the fun ahead!

We have just adopted our second family dog, having adopted once before through East Midlands rescue centre. Our first love was a black Labrador who passed in February at the age of 14 years. Our home felt empty so we returned to the centre and found our lovely Brie a German Shepherd whom we adore. Sandra and her team at the rescue centre, are warm, welcoming and supportive, ensuring that you have as much information about the dog you’re interested in as possible, and they clearly love the animals they care for. The centre is intent on making the right choice for each dog and the families looking to re-home them.
I would recommend anyone looking to open their heart and home to a dog to visit East Midlands Rescue Centre as soon as possible, you will not be disappointed!
We wish Sandra and her team well and hopefully many more years of success.

This place is wonderful. The amount of care and attention that goes into the dogs that they save is nothing short of brilliant.
We adopted a three year old Labrador who had a difficult start in life. They rehabilitated him back into loving calm dog who is now a very settled member of our family.
Sandy and Lynne and the rest of the team are fantastic explaining the process and making sure the dogs are placed in right homes to support their needs. They keep in touch after the adoption and are always interested in all the dogs progress.

Sandy and her team at East Midlands Dog Rescue do an incredible job with all they do. Such a well ran and caring centre, they try so hard to find the right homes for the dogs in their care. The dogs are well cared for and the team give them as much individual attention as they can. We were lucky enough to be chosen to trial one of their dogs. Sandy was always at the end of the phone for support and to offer advice. Thank you and keep up the good work :)

We were luckily enough to come across East Midlands Dog Rescue and after visiting, we met our wonderful rescue dog. Kennels were clean and all the dogs were known and well looked after by the owners and helpers.
The owner made sure we were the right owners for Sapphire and I remember she whispered in her ear, 'be lucky'. She was, we were and I can only thank Sandy for letting us take care of her.

After knowing this rescue for over 10 years and previously working closely to them in the veterinary industry I cannot speak more highly of them. The dogs always come first. They work extremely hard to ensure the dogs don't go from home to home, but to match the owners and dogs together. They may not reply to everyone straight away or hand you a dog when you visit, but that is because it's not in the best interest of the dog. This rescue saves dogs from all different backgrounds. They aren't simple trained pups. They are complex, with lots of layers to sometimes work through. This rescue goes above and beyond to give the dogs the home they deserve and best chance of a loving life. Every dog that enters their door gets every chance it could possibly have of a new happy life no matter what 'baggage' or 'damage' they may seen to have.
This is a very special Dog Rescue ran by people who love their dogs deeply and unconditionally.

We were lucky enough to re home our lovely dog from here just before Christmas. Sandy and Lynne and the hardworking volunteers that we met were extremely supportive, knowledgeable and helpful throughout our many visits over the last 18 months. An amazing hardworking charity with the dogs entrusted to their care being top of the agenda always. Would highly recommend.

Sandi and the staff at the rescue centre were brilliant.
So caring and experienced with the dogs in need of new homes.
They are very careful to make sure her very well looked after dogs go to the right homes.
We cannot praise them enough and we ended up with a new much loved addition to our family.
R. M.
The rescued dogs appear to be very well looked after, and the kennels are efficiently and well run. Don't be despondent if you don't get a call straight back (they are very busy), keep plugging away and you'll soon get your dog(s) that was meant for you! I've adopted 2 beautiful Cockers and the support and advice have been absolutely fantastic. Thank you.

Such an amazing rescue centre. I was first introduced to the centre by a friend that visited. Months went by and I took my dad who rescued a dog from there after his friend Poppy passed. The way in which you are welcomed into the family and the sheer dedication Sandy has to the dogs is second to none. I suffer with anxiety on occasions but have been lucky enough to help out where possible which has really helped my confidence.
My dad loves his dog Joey to bits and we know if we ever need support Sandy will be there for us any time of the day ❤️

Recently been successful in adopting a pair of dogs from Sandy. Its not a 5 minute process which is another reason I give 5 stars. You have to want the dogs and put a bit of work in so they dogs don't go to inadequate homes and bounce in and out of kennels. Fabulous place and great service Thanks to Sandy and the team. Keep doing what you're doing.

I can't praise the team at East Mids Dog Rescue highly enough. Sandy, Lynne and the team do a tremendous job of rescuing these dogs and caring for them beautifully before making sure each one will find a home that will care for them as much as they have. They gave time and support throughout the adoption process and it was great experience from start to finish. Thank you so much Sandy and team for for rescuing my beautiful Hugo!!!
M. M.
We have just adopted two beautiful girls and are so pleased it went smoothly. EMDR have been great, so caring of the dogs. They provided plenty of food and equipment at the start and great advice. Sandi and Lynne are very caring and do a wonderful job. Can't praise them highly enough.
W. B.
We have adopted two dogs from East Midlands dog rescue, we viewed the dogs on two occasions, the ladies that run the facility are dedicated to the animals in their care.
They came to check our home to make sure we were able to house the animals, once checked and approved we took charge of our two wonderful girls. The staff at E Mids are totally dedicated to the animals and are always keen to be kept up to date with there progress and check if here are any problems. Thank you
J. K.
Really caring and genuine staff/owner. They won't settle for just anybody who chooses to adopt their dogs.
Each potential new family is checked for suitability for the individual dog. This charity wants what is best for the dogs and their lives, not just the new families.

We have just adopted a beautiful Spanish Podenco girl from East Midland Dog Rescue Centre and couldn't be happier.
Throughout the process from our initial enquiry to the day we took Lexie home, Sandy and Lynne have been very friendly, helpful and exceptionally informative.
The kennels are extremely clean and the all the dogs look happy and healthy. It is obvious that the welfare of their 'rescues' is of paramount importance to all the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that their four footed friends will be happy in their new home.
The work they do goes above and beyond and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them highly to anyone looking to adopt a dog.
We feel very fortunate and grateful to have Lexie in our family.
Thank you so much.

The time, effort and dedication of the staff here is faultless. The love and care the dogs receive is 10/10, having been lucky enough to have adopted 2 dogs previously and now a 3rd on home trial the support we have received from Sandy and Lynne throughout the process has been amazing. Not to mention the aftercare we have received with support and advice when we have needed it. Well done to all of you, for all you do for the dogs and new owners. Keeping doing what you are doing because it really does make a difference x x

We've been over a couple of times & in our experience didn't find them very helpful. Dogs are still there even though I know myself & others have applied for them, but unfortunately they won't separate them yet, even though some are still young enough to adapt to new homes. They are looking sad. I know they have to make sure the dogs go to good loving homes, but how can you tell what someone is like by a few questions on a form. We really wanted to rehome a dog but are now giving to look at different options.
M. C.
We attended an open day and had a wonderful experience! The staff were supportive with great communication throughout the process.
We re-homed a beautiful German Pointer Cross & were supplied with everything we needed. We are still in touch and would recommend to anyone looking to re-home a dog.

I recently adopted two Cocker spaniels from Sandy at East Midlands dog rescue, all the dogs are looked after with the most love and care.
The two week trial that they offer is a fantastic idea and they came with food bedding and leads etc.
We kept in touch during the trial as requested by Sandy to ensure everything was going ok.
We have had them over a month now and popped in to see Sandy today, the love for the dogs is so beautiful.
I can’t recommend EMDR enough the work they do for all the dogs is just wonderful.
I can’t thank them enough for allowing us to adopt these two lovely dogs.

I have adopted three dogs from EMDR. The kindness and care shown to every single one of the dogs is exemplary. EMDR is a small independent rescue. There are no paid kennel staff, no army of administrators completing paperwork and answering telephone calls. It is down to a small group of people to do this as well as conduct home visits / follow ups , vet runs and a long list of other tasks. These tasks they undertake because they are putting the needs of the dogs above everything else. What these people ask for is patience and understanding. Rescue is hard work, emotionally and physically draining. We are so lucky to have a local rescue that has saved so many lives.
A. P.
A super place, volunteer run and always busy. The dog's are well looked after, have clean bedding and lots of it. Have had three pooches from EMDR over the last 25 years, two recently. They are very thorough is checking that the dog's are happy with their new family and also the home trial ensures that any issues can be addressed before a formal adoption is finalised.
M. H.
Such wonderful people working here making sure that dogs go to places they can call their forever homes! On hand to offer advice whenever needed, really understand the character of each dog and clearly working overtime to make sure any mistreated dog can turn their life around and live a long and happy life. Excellent work!

Nothing but positive stuff to say about the rescue, Sandy is amazing and so are her team. The animals are loved and cared for, we successfully adopted two ex puppy farm dogs and have been supported through every step of the way.

Just adopted lucas a Beagle/Pointer Cross from East Midlands dog rescue. He is a fantastic dog and we are very grateful to them for giving him to us.
The team there are very dedicated to the dogs and are always give their best for them. I would recommend anyone wanting a dog to consider them.

So impressed with the staff and facilities. It's clear that everyone there cared very much for the dogs and we were so happy that we were able to adopt our lovely boy, Arlo.
I would highly recommend this animal rescue to anyone looking to adopt.
Thanks again, Helen.

If I could I would give Sandy & Lynne at East Midlands Dog Rescue 10 stars. The love & care they show the dogs is second to none and they focus on matching the right people with the right dog - not just the first to apply. Would highly recommend

Amazing dog rescue with care, compassion and very professional. Sandy and the team were a delight throughout the re-homing process. Dogs are well looked after and cared for. Would highly recommend if you're thinking about rehoming!

I couldn't think of a better dog rescue !!. EDMR have saved many dogs from awful places and still do , if it wasn't for them these lovely dogs might not have a chance for a better and happier life . They really care about the dogs and ensure that they are going to a suitable home and not just giving them to anybody who shows interest. It isn't just an easy yes or no , so many things to take into consideration like space, other pets, if a particular dog is suitable with children , finance etc. All of these are for the benefit of the dogs ,to prevent unsettlement . This is just how much EMDR care about their dogs and they truly want the best for them as well as finding them a suitable and loving owner. Of course they want to find owners for the dogs who will love them ,care for them and provide for them but this isn't a quick decision that can be made in 5 minutes , it needs a lot of thought . Therefore, please understand that if you go to look for a dog , you may have to wait a little as there are lots of people that could be interested and like I said , there is so much to take into consideration to find the best home for a dog. My dad and I have asked about certain dogs but were advised no and for the right reasons of course. Now we cannot be happier with our Golden Retriever , which EMDR suggested for us , they were 100% right and that just shows how much effort and care they put into their job. Best dog rescue in my opinion!!.

Having rehomed 4 dogs from East Midlands Dog Rescue over the years, I have nothing but admiration for Sandy and her team.
The dogs needs are her priority and they could not be loved and cared for any better. Keep doing what you're doing Sandy and never change
J. S.
We have adopted 7 dogs from EMDR over the years and have always found the amazing ladies kind and knowledgable about the dogs in their care. The accommodation for the dogs is very good and very clean and they all extremely well looked after. The dogs will not be placed with just anyone and they are rightly very choosy about adoptees. AN AMAZING CHARITY THAT MY HUSBAND AND I WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT XXXXX

We have had many dogs from emdr over the last 20 years from when Sandy was on the A5. We have always had fabulous dogs some of which have crossed the rainbow 🌈 Bridge. Sandy and her team are really great people. 👍
J. R.
A rescue that really cares. We have homed 2 rescues from EMDR and have always found the volunteers really helpful so long as you are patient and prepared to wait. If you think you can visit pick a dog and its yours, go elsewhere because the dogs are more important than your attitude and self importance. Our girls have brought us so much joy and love. We miss our ephalump every single day, but thanks to EMDR we have our Kenya. A million thank you's xxxxx

Five stars and beyond….Sandy and the team at EMDR are such wonderful people that put such dedication into the world of dogs we were so lucky to be given the chance to give a home to Gracie earlier this year and I know how much Sandy wants the very best for each dog. You wouldn’t want for a better place if you were a dog that’s for sure.

Sandy and Lynn were excellent. Their approach to fostering and adoption is thorough and comes from a genuine place of wanting to place the right dogs with the right people and environment. Jim is our first rescue dog and we love him. We will continue to recue for as long as we are dog owners. Thank you for letting us re-home Jim.
M. D.
We have our gorgeous newest editions of our family from here. There is no place that the dogs are more loved or cared for.
Often people seem to think that a rescue dog can just be homed anywhere, this isn’t the case, Sandy and Lynne have a strict vetting process which ensures the dogs don’t go back into rescue or into a situation where that particular dog might not suit that particular house or family set up. There are several stages involved to ensure the dog will be happy the first of which is a paper application.
With literally hundreds of applications at a time they do those gorgeous dogs proud! Thank you!
S. C.
Fabulous rescue - work tirelessly to save dogs from the most awful conditions. I was so fortunate to be given the opportunity to foster and then permanently rehome my two girls. Sandy and all other helpers give invaluable advice and support after rehoming too.
A. P.
Always said you can't beat a rescue dog and having a pooch from EMDR tops it as all the dogs are totally loved by Sandy and Lynne and are obviously careful in where each dog gets rehomed. If you want a dog go to them and rescue one. Be patient though as everything comes to those who wait and boy are they worth waiting for xxxxx
D. A.
Great place, couldn't thank or recommend them enough! Adopt don't shop!

We recently adopted our amazing girl through them, they were waiting for her to come over from Cyprus for 6 months! Our home would not be the same if she wasn’t in it! Sandy, Lynne and all the volunteers are amazing, the compassion and care all the dogs are given is second to none. We had previously put our name down for other dogs but due to the overwhelming response for these dogs we were unsuccessful at that time.
s. p.
Brilliant place really clean environment for the homeless dogs that they look after. Sandy is lovely and very understanding to both yours and the dogs needs. We have just adopted little Ollie who’s settled in with our other 2 beagles really well. Can’t wait to get on with our new little fellas training
J. A.
Adopted Buzz from here over 12 years ago, often pop back to take items and take Buzz with me and he has never forgotten Sandy and her kindness, the dogs here are so well cared for by Sandy and the team it is a great rescue.

My husband and I have come to know Sandy and Lynne over the years, because we have visited East Midlands Dog Rescue many times and we support their vetting process and however long it takes for Sandy to decide, which of her dogs go where and with whom. Sandy entrusted her dog (our Majiq) to us and Sandy also allowed us to look after another of her dogs for short term foster. We Miss Our Majiq but she made it to such a wonderful age - we cannot thank East Midlands Dog Rescue enough, for giving us a life with her; and our Footprint a Sister, that he loved with all his heart x RIP Majiq (2019)

EMDR do a fantastic job. They take in, rescue poor dogs that have been abused & neglected by bad people who shouldn't be allowed to have any animal. Some are there because their human cannot look after them any more or may have passed away. All have a sad story. Sandy & her team have the unenviable responsibility to match their dogs to new families who will become their forever homes. You can't just go in & say 'I want that one'. It doesn't work that way. Sadly dogs rehomed that easily too often end up going from home to home instead of getting the loving, forever home they all deserve. When a friend shared a post on my Facebook of a Doberman that was in rescue I hadn't heard of EMDR. We had just lost our beautiful Jet & weren't looking for another. I couldn't stop thinking about Sasha & kept looking to see if she was still there. We phoned Sandy & expressed an interest & were invited to visit. It broke our hearts to leave her. We visited again to introduce our other girl, Bella, to ensure they got along. They were good together but again we had to leave her. We wanted to bring Sasha home but Sandy had to do what was best for Sasha, not what we wanted. Thankfully our checks were satisfactory & Sandy entrusted Sasha to our family. Sasha was damaged by bad humans. It was not always easy, often challenging, we had problems with her anxiety. She had at least 2 homes & a litter of puppies before ending up at EMDR at 1year old. Sasha had so much love to give, she just needed a family to share it with. If you're looking to rescue please persevere & be kind. EMDR, thank you 💙 Keep up the good work 👏 xx (additional, my husband rides motorbikes & has tattoos 🤔)

Sandy and Lynne do a fantastic job in running EMDR. We adopted Millie a couple of months ago, after taking her for a two-week foster trial.
Both ladies go out of their way to make sure the dog is going to the right home. They would rather take the dog back after two weeks if there is any doubt that you and the dog are not a perfect match.
The dogs are really well cared for and it is great to see so many of them get a second chance at finding a loving home.
Thanks again for helping us to find the perfect pal for Benjy. Millie is loving life and has really come out of her shell now she is in a settled home.
M.
More than just a rescue. EMDR is truly professional, and the welfare of the dogs is second to none. That is the meaning of rescue and putting the dogs first. True animal lovers will see this. All the dogs have baggage and characteristics , background, that only the staff are aware of. Just because one likes the look of a dog does not make it a done deal.Professional rescues do this. They have already been rescued and are safe at EMDR, so they will look at all the background, mental, physical issues , and I admire the fact that they will not rehome any dog with a simplistic yes, in a careless fashion, causing further trauma and harm. That is why this rescue has all my support. I'm so happy with both dogs from EMDR. Yes, I I've been refused some dogs, and for totally good reasons, and have had excellent advice, to suit all circumstances. Dogs, welfare, safety and needs are paramount, and always addressed by EMDR. Harry says hi.🌝

We have just adopted 2 dogs from here and they are gorgeous! Sandy and the team at the rescue were very helpful and work tirelessly to care for all the dogs!
They give them an amazing foot on the ladder towards a better new life!
Nothing is too much trouble and the care they receive is outstanding!
What an amazing place! Thank you East Midlands Dog Rescue!
R. M.
The love and dedication that the ladies and volunteers have for the dogs at East Midlands Dog Rescue is fantastic. If you want to rehome a dog, you have the love, right temperament and are in the right situation to rehome one then it will eventually happen. However, be prepared to put in the time and effort to get to know the staff and do not expect to take home the first dog you fall in love with. They will rehome the right dog with the right ‘whole’ family once they are sure that there is the connection between all concerned and not before. We are blessed to have Mya as a part of our family now. Thank you 🙏

We recently adopted our lovely puppy from East Midlands Dog Rescue. I cannot fault Sandy and Lynne for their fantastic work at EMDR. They were both very friendly and extremely supportive throughout our entire adoption process. As soon as we arrived at the rescue it was clear that all of the dogs are extremely well looked after, and each individual dogs requirements are met. The team are very professional and always put the dogs best interest at heart. They ensure all of their dogs are matched with the appropriate families, in order to give the dogs the happiest and most suitable homes.
We are entirely grateful for everything East Midlands Dog Rescue have done for our little girl and cannot recommend them enough!
K. F.
We contacted East Midlands Rescue regarding a lovely little dog called Cheryl, we went to meet her and fell in love with her instantly! Today we adopted her and we couldn’t be happier, she is now called a Bella ❤️
Thank you so much Sandy and Lynne for our lovely Bella, you do an amazing job caring for all the dogs you rescue x
J.
We found difficulty contacting the kennels but it was worth the wait. We found the staff very professional, knowledgeable about the dogs and devoted to their welfare. We were given plenty of time to get to know our chosen dog, found the two week foster period very helpful, especially with queries answered immediately. We were at no time pressured and felt we were not alone, with help always at hand. We now have a wonderful companion. Many thanks to all at East Midlands Dog Rescue!

In January of this year we adopted 2 dogs that had travelled here from Cyprus.I would like to thank Sandie and the staff at East Midlands Dog Rescue for all their help and support they have given us throughout the year. The volunteers deserve only praise for the time and dedication they give to save so many lives and give so many dogs a second chance. THANK YOU.

Such an amazing place, the team gives the dogs the best care from the moment they arrive at the rescue to the day they leave. It’s more than just a dog rescue and the ongoing support to new owners is fantastic!

East Midlands Dog Rescue is run by two of the most caring and wonderful ladies who work tirelessly to make sure all our little 4 legged friends are kept safe and find their new forever homes. We have been so fortunate to get to know Sandy & Lynne and we have just started our own happy ever after with our gorgeous Goldendoodle, Wilma. They really do deserve everyone’s support and are true unsung heroes! THANK YOU for all that you do ❤️

Adopted Ben from the rescue.
The priority of the ladies running the rescue is the dogs, with a lot of effort trying to match the adopters with the right dog. The dogs are well cared for and given affection by the volunteers.
A well run rescue.

This is an amazing place. Sandy and her volunteers do a fantastic job rehabilitating and rehoming dogs who in some cases have had a terrible start in life. We got our Charlie from there and our lives would not be the same without him. Thank you Sandy for all you do!

Sandy and the team at EMDR are dedicated, caring and really lovely people. They put everything into caring for the dogs, making sure they have food, medication and lots of love before they find forever homes for them. They are volunteers and work so hard behind the scenes.
I rescued my dog Spot 10 and a half years ago and I’m very grateful to the team for giving me the chance to rescue him.
I hope that restrictions from the pandemic start to lift soon to allow the team to have open mornings again to be able to meet people looking to rescue the dogs. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Today, after a two week trial, just been to finalise the adoption of "Oreo" .
After a nervous start, on both sides, Oreo is settling in well and seems to be enjoying his new digs.
Thanks for all the help, and continuing support from EMDR.
6 months later. Oreo is now known as Sid and is getting about more.
He's very fond of walks up Croft Hill.

We found EMDR to be a lovely environment for dogs waiting to be re-homed with spacious, clean kennels and very helpful carers. It's clear that the dogs welfare is a number one priority!
The two week foster period is an excellent opportunity for you to be sure you and your chosen dog are the right match.
Sandy was very supportive to us during this time as our chosen dog had a health issue which was dealt with immediately and we have now adopted a lovely, healthy, happy dog!
We would not hesitate to recommed EMDR for a positive adoption experience!

I have been visiting East Midland Dog Rescue for a number of years and I have found the people that run this wonderful are all so very kind and they are totally committed to improving the welfare of dogs! There is no discrimination, if a dog is need of help, they help, if a dog arrives and is then found to be poorly - not an issue - vets - treatment plan and ongoing treatment- regardless of cost - the people who run this wonderful charity do it for the dogs and the dogs alone - They want every dog young, old, gorgeous, rough around the edges, damaged to be find a forever, home however, with their wealth of experience they know that it is in each and every dogs interest to find a home which is right for both doggie and Humanoid! I have been very lucky, I am the guardian of three rescue doggies - all three have had bad starts in life and all three for different reasons - it is a privilege for me to have these guys in my life and I would not have them if it was not for the commitment of people like, Sandy and Lynne that run this wonderful organisation - this charity is planning a fund raising day on 01.07.2018, this date is the 20th Anniversary of the creation of EMDR - they rely solely on the generosity of the good people and businesses that want to assist them in raising funds - this small charity is funded only by donations- long review, I know but a totally deserved, one! Good luck to all of you that are involved in EMDR and this goes out to your current residents and all your future residents who hopefully will find their forever loving homes - they in return will show their new guardians so much unconditional love and gratitude! I have attached a picture of my three boys - I must point out that it is purely coincidental that they all “beige” Thank you to everyone one who volunteers for EMDR - without you where would we all be?!

Writing a review for East Midlands dog rescue is just so difficult because nothing I can ever write will do it justice. Sandra and Lynne work tirelessly to ensure the dogs in their care receive the best treatment and the best homes. Dogs that find their way to the centre are the lucky ones as what follows is a care shown to them they did not previously receive. The whole focus for Sandra and Lynne is getting the right dog to the right owners so their lives can both be made better. They do this day in day out and some of what they do must be heartbreaking before it’s heart warming. We adopted our beautiful girl today and we will never be able to thank them enough for allowing us the privilege of caring for our girl. The process of adopting isn’t hard but it is done correctly and you will be checked appropriately to make sure the match is right ( if you adopted a child you’de expect the correct checks to be made so a dog is no different) . It’s a long wait ... it’s actually not it just feels it when you’ve fallen in love with a dog ( we were just over a week with two visits made by us to meet our girl and Sandra and Lynne visiting our home to check it’s suitability) if you truly are serious about providing the best home be patient Sandra and Lynne really do know better than anyone in matching you with your new best friend.
Even if you are not currently looking for a new best friend it’s worth remembering this is a charity, they can only save these poor animals with donations be that money or items required.
By far the kindest, caring rescue with two women that give so much!! Forever indebted to East Midlands Rescue x
N. J.
We recently adopted a dog from Sandy and the gang at East Midlands Rescue. The whole process went well. They were prepared to spend time with us and allow us to get to know Harry and let him get used to us before we adopted him. They have provided us with support after the fact. All in all we are very happy with how things went.

Fantastic careing angels that save and mend broken souls very protective and who can blame them ! My two fur babies were from emdr I love to bits thankyou soo much 💖

I just wanted to give the recognition these ladies deserve, friendly and helpful from the moment we stepped through the door . They are so busy looking after the lovely clean kennels and the public too when appointments are booked . To see the love they give the animals in their care and the way they speak about their broken lives just shows the care they give each and every one . Thank you for allowing us to visit to see if we could offer a dog a for ever home and after seeing them I do hope they all find the loving family homes they deserve .

A great charity that places dog welfare at the top of the list. I really can't fault the experience we had fostering, then adopting our dog. They made sure we were a good match and were so supportive for our 2 week foster period. The staff and volunteers were very caring and helpful.

We have been lucky enough to re home 4 greyhounds from East Midlands Dog Rescue. It is an amazing place. Sandy and her team care for all of the dogs with love and commitment. Always on hand for advice and support.

5* is a total underestimate of East Midlands Dog Rescue! 10* would be nearer to the mark.
What a happy and spotlessly clean place with staff and volunteers who each give 200%, always with a smile! Each of them are devoted to giving each dog in their care the best care possible and making their often unhappy lives happy once more.
Led by Sandy and Lynne, nothing is a trouble to them to ensure the dogs in their care get their happy forever homes. Sandy and Lynne lead their staff by example, never asking people to do anything they are not willing to do themselves. They have unending energy and enthusiasm for what must be a 7 day a week 'job'. Devotion and dedication may be better words to describe their work.
They have thought of absolutely everything in order to transition their dogs and their future owners as easily as possible. Their Website sets out the process of rehoming very clearly. No one can be in any doubt as to what you can expect of them and them of you. Adapting to the new Covid Regulations must have been very tricky but again they have achieved this very well, ensuring your safety and their staff safety, which is to be commended in these unique times.
Descriptions of the dogs available to rehome are totally individual and very honest. They know their boarders very well. You can be in no doubt as to what each individual dog needs. Sandy and Lynne are 100% professionals and totally honest about what they are looking for in new owners. Trust them, they know their dogs inside out and have given them time and love to get them to the point of rehoming.
I am sitting here typing this with our new Bulldog, Donna. She has been with us for 6 weeks now and we feel we have never been without her. She brings joy to us every day and is gradually gaining confidence and learning to trust us with a lot of time, love and patience. It is nearly 4 years since we lost our last Bulldog. However when we saw Donna's photo on the Website and subsequently made a visit to EMDR, we knew immediately that we would be well supported and could take on a new member of the family.
We arranged a visit, filled in a form, had a garden visit and after this we were found suitable to foster her for 2 weeks. She then saw their vet for a check up. Absolutely everything was provided: bed, food, bowls, lead etc. After these 2 weeks we could have returned Donna and all the equipment with no questions asked. What a brilliant system! Sandy also went the extra mile - eg checking what our Xmas arrangements were in case it would be inconvenient to take a new dog on at that time. Her attention to detail and experience are exceptional.
What is said on the Website is the truth. Trust their expertise and you won't go far wrong. We feel we shall always be a part of EMDR in some way.
Our experience with other Animal Rescue Centres has not been like this.
Well done and thank you to all staff at EMDR!
L. H.
Fabulous rescue. The team of volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the dogs go to the right home every time.

We came to EMRC having heard excellent feedback regarding their care and support. Sandy and Lynn were very attentive and are dedicated to finding the right family to match their dogs. We were fortunate enough to be selected as suitable owners and now are thoroughly enjoying our new addition who is adapting to us and home comforts. We cannot thank you both enough for your support and advice much appreciated.

I just wanted share how amazing our experience has been with EMDR - they are a small charity but with huge experience professionalism kindness and care - we absolutely adore our new family member (Elmo the Pekingese).
Elmo is a fantastic little chap. We looked to adopt during COVID restrictions and the team where exceptional in adhering to guidance and the safety of staff and visitors were paramount. The kennels were immaculate.
Having seen some of the negative reviews I would like to comment that this is a small charity with amazingly hard working volunteers who dedicate all their spare time to finding the best new homes for their doggy clients - it's understandable that they will not be able to respond to every enquiry as promptly as some reviewers would like - but the search to find your perfect match doggy friend should not be done in haste.
We highly recommend the centre - but please be patient and persistent as the site is run by only two members of staff and some additional dedicated volunteers. You will then find the dog of your dreams.
So thank you again so much Sandy, Lynn and the team!

We have adopted a lovely dog from East Midlands Dog Rescue, they are thoroughly professional and treat all of the dogs so well. The process is very professional and always has the dogs best interest at heart. Lovely people with big hearts.
S. B.
We have a lovely dog now thanks to EMDR. Sandy & Lynne were so helpful, so little hassle! Being able to have the dog for a couple of weeks to see how you get on is SUCH a good idea. They gave us all the equipment we needed. There was no way we were going to take the dog back!? Thanks so much.

Sandy and the lovely team who work at East Midlands Dog Rescue work tirelessly to find the perfect forever homes for the dogs in their care. We have been very lucky to have found and rehomed several dogs over the years from here and the support and care for these dogs is second to none. They're always interested to hear how all of ours are getting on. Amazing place, couldn't recommend it more.
R. L.
Fabulous rescue, rehomed my lovely dog susie over 10 years ago. Amazing staff and dogs well cared for
S. C.
EMDR is an amazing rescue. They're a small team who work around the clock for the dogs in their care. We've had the privilege to rescue 3 greyhounds over the years from EMDR and they always remember each and every one. These are people who dedicate their lives to the rescue of the dogs so please be patient and kind if they can't always get back to you.
C. R.
Having adopted 4 dogs from here, I have found them very helpful. Putting dogs first before human needs. To me that is important. They're thorough, decisive, and love every single dog that comes through those doors. Brilliant!
D. M.
Faultless from start to finish. An immaculate facility that has the dogs needs and happiness at the forefront. The staff were fantastic from the very start and made my young son feel so welcome. They knew all of the history of each and everyone of the dogs as if they were there own family pets and took their time to explain each dogs requirements and whether they feel we would be a suitable match. We have been searching for a dog for some time now and can honestly say that the facility, the staff and the values of this rescue centre, as well as the trial basis for owner and dog make for the perfect recipe for what is THE best rescue centre I have visited. Sandy and her team kept up communication with us with an honest but fair opinion on each dog and our suitability. Would recommend this rescue to everyone. Phenomenal staff and the love for each dog is clear through their hard work and dedication to finding the best home for each and every dog in their care, irrelevant of their past. Highly recommend!

We first met Sandy back in September where we tried to adopt Mollie a Dachshund who was rescued from a puppy farm. Despite the disappointment of missing out, Sandy encouraged us to keep tabs on their website which we checked daily. In December we saw that Mollie's pal Maple also rescued from the Puppy farm had five adorable puppies.
We made contact with Sandy again and are delighted that today we adopted Trilby. Sandy's number one priority is to ensure all dogs go to the right home, she helps this process by outlining the type of home environment expected for each dog on the EMDR website. As with most breeds, Dachshunds have specific requirements and having experience with the breed helped during the adoption process.
Looking forward to the long term relationship between our family and Sandy and all at EMDR. Also loved hearing the update on Maple and Mollie's new life together, such a happy ending.

This rescue centre is ran by two amazing and dedicated ladies, the welfare of the dogs is paramount to them both. The kennels are immaculate and the dogs are all super well looked after. Adopting a dog is a huge commitment and this centre works really hard to ensure that the dogs find their forever home.
A. D.
We went to meet Stella (was Gina) 3 weeks ago today, and have just been to formally adopt her following our two week home trial. We cannot thank Sandy and Lynne enough for the fantastic service.
We were given food, bed, collar, lead harness and toys and the most beautiful dog we could of asked for! Stella has slotted into our lives perfectly we are totally besotted.
We will continue to support East Midlands rescue in the future, thank you do everyone who was involved in rescuing Stella. #adoptdontshop xx

Warm and welcoming, Lynne and Sandy are amazing and genuinely care about all the doggies 🐶 Everyone working here are working hard to make sure the dogs live a decent life. Such a clean and well run establishment. We adopted our Olly with ease and full support from EMDR. We will be forever grateful for the opportunity, of giving Olly the best life. Thank you🥰

We have just finalised the adoption of our collie cross puppy today after a two week trial. She is gorgeous and has settled in really well! The two ladies and volunteers run the centre brilliantly and the dogs seem happy, clean and well looked after. It does take time to be matched with a suitable dog and there is often a lot of interest in each one so my advice would be to keep visiting every few weeks and be prepared to wait for the right dog to come along. It really was worth it for us!
S. A.
Fabulous place. Deliberately small scale to ensure that each and every dog gets the absolute best home. Be patient, it's not an RSPCA! Read their site, you need to go to one of the open days each week and register your interest, there are no short cuts. There are literally a couple of people running it and only so many hours in the day. The facilities are very modern and clean and it is clear that all dogs are very well looked after. The best food is given and they are checked regularly by a vet each week. We found our beautiful Bobby dog there and Sandy was so careful to ensure that we were all absolutely happy before we officially took him on. They are very careful to point out that they will support you every step of the way and even after you have adopted a dog. Cannot recommend highly enough :O)
j. g.
I have had rescue dogs from EMDR for over 20 yrs. Sandy and her team are second to none and always go the extra mile to ensure that the needs of every dog are met and the right home is found. I can recommend EMDR to anyone looking to rehome a dog.
g. C.
What a refreshing rescue centre. The dogs are matched very carefully to the owners and although there is an overwhelming response to the dogs the ladies work hard to get to know the people first. I understand some people may get frustrated but it clearly states that they can not respond to every enquiry of a dog has already been sent to home visit. I have always found them very approachable and a lovely kennel to visit. We would certainly go back in the future and can not believe the hard work sandy puts in. Well done everyone
C. C.
Proper rescue centre run by staff who care about the dogs. I have picked up 2 gorgeous dogs from here and they are just divine.
Just wish they were open more than a few hours a week but understand all the effort goes on the care. Please please please check this place out as this is not a profit run place like the £100 million plus a year horrid Dogs Trust.
Baskets bedding food leads and collars given with the dogs plus full vaccinations and neutering. I am so thankful for Sandy and Co for giving me a chance with Sue and Aris both Pointer Cross youngsters. Truly have made a happy home
Thank you xxx
J. C.
Sandy, Lynne and all the volunteers at this rescue are fantastic and do an amazing job. They are professional at all times and clearly care about the dogs. The welfare of the unwanted, neglected and abandoned dogs is priority to everything they do. They work tirelessly to ensure that each and every dog is homed in the right environment. Please understand that the open days can be very busy and several people will show an interest in the same dog. The needs of the dog must come first when a decision is made. I would have no hesitation in recommending this rescue if you are looking to add to your family
S. S.
After our dog lost his best friend, my family and l started looking for a new little friend for him. We found a lovely girl at east midlands dog rescue. After several trips to the centre to fill in a form, we took him to meet her. My children had fallen in love with her and about a week later we heard the amazing news that we could have a garden check, and then foster her to see how we all got on. We could not believe it when we took her home and it all went really well . Today we have been to adopt her and we are thrilled 😁 keep persevering and you could end up with a little gem like we have! Thank you ladies. It is great you are giving so many dogs a happy life.
K. F.
We adopted our pretty Meg yesterday. From the moment we walked into the EMDR were so impressed with the cleanliness and running of the kennels and the absolute dedication of Sandy and her very small team of volunteers. They do all they can to ensure all of their dogs are placed into a safe environment after everything they have been through. We cannot praise them enough. Thank you x
F. H.
Myself and my husband have the utmost respect and love for Sandy, Lynne and all the volunteers at EMDR. The welfare of the dogs is at the heart of everything they do. Their knowledge and understanding of different dogs needs ensures each dog goes to the right home. We have had the privilege of owning several dogs from the rescue over the last 20 years and have always felt very welcome. We are so grateful for the happiness and love the dogs have brought to our lives and cannot thank the rescue enough. For those that have left negative comments you really have missed the point that it's all about the dogs not you! The rescue has been a lifeline for so many dogs and will continue to be thanks to love, compassion and commitment of all involved.
G. H.
Absolutely wonderful place, the best place if you want to give a dog a second chance! The staff are so friendly and really care for every single dog, from the moment it arrives. They ensure that each dog is suitable for their potential home before placing it on a two week trial.
Even if the dog you adopt has some health issues, every thing will be explained to you prior to the two week trial so you know exactly what you're taking on and they'll be on hand throughout to answer any queries.
I thoroughly recommend East Midlands Dog Rescue!

We cannot recommend East Midland Dog Rescue highly enough.
The whole process from viewing to registering interest to fostering and adopting one of their gorgeous dogs was made extremely easy. The ladies that run this place are very helpful and offer ongoing support and advice even after adoption. They clearly love what they do and the doggies are very well cared for.
Well done ladies(and all the other volunteers),for the amazing work you do to help give these beautiful animals their forever homes.
S. F.
Just adopted a beautiful boy from them - they do amazing work on dogs with some of the saddest pasts. They are clearly looking for forever homes for each dog and will ensure they are matched to the correct homes.
My boy is needy and nervous which is improving with time - it goes to show what wonderful work they have done with him to this point thou as when i took him back for his adoption papers he was confident and happy to see them.
Thank you to all at the centre for the work they carry out for all the dogs but especially my beautiful boy :-)
A.
Sandy and Lynn work tirelessly and selflessly at EMDR to rescue, care for and rehome dogs in need of love and security. The work they do is absolutely amazing and thanks to their incredible dedication hundreds of dogs have had their fortunes turned around and go on to live happy and healthy lives! xxx

Wonderful rescue centre that have the care of the dogs as an absolute priority. It is run by two dedicated ladies and their volunteers that work very hard to find forever homes for them. The kennels and facilities and very clean and well kept, we visited a few times before we were successful, they often have many people interested in the same dogs, so be patient, remember a lot of the dogs have had a terrible start in life and they want to make the rehoming process as smooth as possible. We were lucky enough to adopt two wonderful young dogs that were rescued after being abandoned and left to fend for themselves, please support EMDR as they do such wonderful work. 🙂

East Midlands Dog Rescue is such a fantastic place. The staff are really helpful and give the best support. The dogs are looked after amazingly and the place is welcoming with a happy atmosphere. Sandy has been superb in giving us advise when needed. Can't recommend this place enough. Sofia and Andy 😀🐾🐕

Thank you EMDR, we found the perfect boy to give a forever home.
The staff are all very busy but obviously care so much for the dogs. They are so experienced and are always on hand to offer advice.
The data protection laws have changed making their job so much more challenging but it has been great to see so many dogs finding their forever homes because of the hard work and dedication on the staff.
I can not thank them enough for all of their support and encouragement. I would highly recommend them and would happily use them again should Barry ever need a friend.
I can’t state enough how much these ladies care; they really do want the best for each and every one of the dogs that pass through their gates.
Keep up the hard work ladies, you’re an inspiration :)
M. C.
I cannot thank the ladies at East Midlands Dog Rescue for all the do for their dogs and the people interested in rehoming them. We have just adopted a lovely girl who was a stray in Cyprus. I think the two week foster before adoption method they use is wonderful. They provide you with everything you need and are their night and day on the phone ready to help and offer advice. We can’t wait to start our forever with a big girl and we will definitely be back when we are ready to expand our fur family! Thank you again ❤️❤️❤️
K. S.
Sandy and the team are truly life savers. The love and care they show for their dogs is second to none. Whilst in the shelter, the dogs are happy and all receive personal attention and affection from all the staff. Would volunteer here too if we lived a little closer! During open mornings, it can be very busy with visitors, but sandy and the team have always found time at every visit to chat to us about the dogs and made us feel welcome. As a couple in our 30s, working full time, we were concerned we wouldn't be accepted, but Sandy took the time to get to know us and our own personal circumstances. Sandy was very supportive throughout the Rehoming process, always on call during the fostering period. Whilst it didn't work out for us the first time, Sandy reassured us, to not lose hope and that the right dog would come along. EMDR is just a lovely genuine shelter that work tirelessly to match each dog to the right home. We are hoping to give a dog a forever home in the future.
G. W.
We have been visiting East Midland Dog Rescue for about a year and a half looking for a doggy friend to join our family. We ourselves knew that it wasn't going to be easy to match us up with a dog due to the fact that we have two children and a cat but we were prepared to be patient and wait which, at times, was hard but made better by the lovely Sandy and Lynne reassuring us that there is a dog out there for us somewhere! It is without doubt that the rescue has the very best interests of the dogs at heart and want them to go to suitable homes. Sandy and Lynne know each one of their dogs so well and their love for each one of them is obvious.
Finally our dreams were answered and we were lucky enough to take the beautiful Toffee (now Bonnie) home for a two week trial which went amazingly and so we adopted her into our family. She has fitted in so well and we love her with all our hearts already.
The work that EMDR do is amazing and I would recommend that anyone looking to rehome a dog visits and chats with the ladies.
Thank you so much EMDR xxx
C. B.
Like the friendly helpful staff, and help and advice. They have lovely kennels for the dogs and give the dogs lots of affection.Always remember you and the dog if you have ever given one a home. They will match the dog to its best possible new home . Wonderful work
V. P.
We have just adopted an adorable dog from East Midlands Dog Rescue and we couldn't have asked for a smoother process and a more caring set of volunteers. We had visited several times before finding "the one". We completed a form hoping to be lucky enough to be matched to the dog we wanted. It was made clear to us that if we were matched then we would hear within 7 days and if we didn't hear, that we hadn't been successful this time and to keep trying. Luckily enough, after a home/garden check, we were matched and we've completed the fostering time (a brilliant idea for the dog and the family to check you are right for each other). The whole team at EMDR clearly have the best interests of the dogs at heart and the place is so clean and well kept. They were all so delighted we were adopting Neera and had lots of helpful advice for us too. Thank you EMDR for all your hard work!!
T. G.
This is the second dog that I have adopted from the centre. The atmosphere is friendly and you are given the full history of any dogs in which you are interested. A lot less bureaucratic than the larger countrywide rescue centres. With the current virus crisis they are managing very well to fit people to their dogs.
S. W.
I have nothing but praise and admiration for the work that Sandie, Lynne and all the volunteers at EMDR put into finding the right homes for the dogs in their care. We first started looking for a new pet at the beginning of March. That may seem a long time but for the team at EMDR it's all about finding the right humans for their dogs, not the other way around. We have seen a lot over time but generally the ones we liked were quite young and we are not so young. Then along came Bailey! He is 6, came all the way from Cyprus, and it was love at first sight. He is the most amazing little dog you could wish to meet. We were lucky enough to be able to foster him and next week will officially be ours. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sandie, Lynne and the team to anyone looking for a rescue dog, their dedication to the dogs in their care is second to none. Be willing to wait for the "right" one and, if our experience is anything to go by, you won't be disappointed. Good luck to all at East Midlands and long may you continue your amazing work. Thank you very much!!!
W. S.
Sandy, Lynne and all the team are extremely caring towards their dogs and only want the very best for them. They are always on the end of the phone if you need advice. I highly recommend them and, if you are looking to rehome a dog, don't hesitate to pay them a visit. They deserve every recognition for their selfless dedication in helping dogs to a better life.
D. A.
We have very recently adopted a GSD from East Midlands Dog Rescue. He is our 5th rescue but our first from EMDR. Sandy and her team do amazing work for these dogs many of whom have had a traumatic past. We found them to be extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the process and would recommend them to anyone. They put the welfare of the dogs first and foremost. We would most definitely adopt from them again in future.

Additional Info added in response to a number of negative reviews on here:
This rescue is run by two ladies that have done it for years and dedicate their life to helping dogs that need it.
They work absolutely tirelessly for the dogs and only expect a small donation for any dog that is rehomed. They are NOT a business and don’t have admin staff to deal with enquiries, calls and the hundreds of applications that they receive.
Their process is very clear to anyone interested in a dog and if they don’t get back to you it could be for many many reasons. They also carry out home checks to ensure that every dog goes to the best place possible depending on the circumstances and background of the dog.
I understand this may be frustrating for some people but a lot of the negative reviews are just not correct in what they are saying.
Im not sure where to start this review. I called Sandy and Lynn to discuss Scamp who I was then told had been with them for a year after 2 very tough years for him in Cyprus.
From the start they were amazing, they managed the process of us meeting Scamp and then again with our current dog to see how they would get on. He was extremely nervous and especially around us but you could tell what a great job they had done getting him to even be near humans at all.
Within a few days they came and did a house visit and gave us more information on his past. A phone call later that day confirmed we could Foster him for the two weeks. He arrived within the week and that was around 8 weeks ago.
There may have been some ups and downs but as you can see from. The pictures the change in this boy is quite remarkable. He is getting more and more comfortable around us and has built an amazing bond with Bertie.
This is down to Lynn and Sandy at EMDR. They are try remarkable in what they do and make it possible for dogs like Scamp to get a second chance.
Please don't hesitate and go see them and hopefully you can be as luck as we are!
M. R.
We have just adopted two dogs from the EMDR and have been very pleased with the process. The team clearly look after the dogs very well and really care for them and want to ensure the best for their future. Sandy and the team were very supportive through the process.

I don't usually do reviews but after reading a few on here I must give my review. I think the ladies at the rescue do a wonderful job. They really care about the dogs and want them all to find forever homes. They are very professional and helped me in every way to adopt me dog. They do their very best. It was very busy when I first visited and some people were being very rude to them. Please be patient when you visit. They do their best to help everyone. Sue Chapman

Lovely people. Dogs well looked after and carefully matched with homes. Have adopted several dogs from Sandy over the last 9 years.
E. H.
Our experience with EMDR has been fantastic. Looking at some of these reviews I feel that some people simply do not agree with the way in which vetting is carried out or feel aggrieved that they have not been able to secure the dog they wanted. It is a small, and immaculately kept kennels, where the dogs are all very well cared for and loved. The Volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the dogs in their care are rehomed with the right family. We visited and our pooch immediately chose us! It was love at first sight. The vetting procedure ensures that the right dog goes to the right people. It was explained to us that we may not get the dog that we were interested in as they often get many families expressing interest in a dog and that once they had narrowed prospective families down they would be in contact to arrange a home visit. We received a call the day after we visited the centre, and they do warn you that if you do not receive a call within 7 days then you will not have been successful for that particular dog. Once approved we had a 2 week home trial. Sandy told us that we were in way oblidged to kept the dog if it didn't go well and that they were contactable 24/7 should any problems arise. Roll on 2 weeks and we have offically adopted out new family member today. He is a perfect fit for us. Thank you to all the volunteers at EMDR, the love and dedication you have for all of the dogs in your care is obvious.

I have only good things to say about this place and the wonderful staff. Their priority is all about the dogs there and they do a fantastic unpaid job! For all the people moaning about rude staff,no correspondence, being outside the catchment area etc...please understand that they are extremely busy people. The dogs are loved and taken care of extremely well, the kennels and areas are beautifully kept. As in all charity work they are run off their feet but never complain. These ladies are my new hero's. I am in the process of fostering a beautiful Greyhound, who is about to become my forever best friend. Keep up the fantastic work people...you restore my faith in humanity!
K. M.
Inundated with people looking for a family pet. Why? They are fantastic at what they do and are the best dog rescue in Leicestershire. Amazing staff that provide their time freely to help home wonderful dogs.
S. R.
This is happy place tinged with a little sadness and run by an amazing team of volunteers who love and cherish every dog who for what ever reason has to spend a little time there with them . My wife and l consider it a pleasure to donate to this very worthy cause to help as much as we can . The happiness portrayed on facebook each time a resident finds a forever home is amazing . Keep up your hard work
L. M.
From going over to view our newly adopted little dog to final adoption has been a joy. Sandy and all the team are lovely. The dogs are so well cared for.
B.
In January 2011 I visited this rescue centre and got my boy Bobby Dazzler....he had a couple of issues I wont lie but not one to be beaten I decided to re-visit and rehome another needy urchin so in May 2011....our Sweaty Betty came along....double trouble but a perfect addition. Since rehoming this pair I have remained friends with Sandy and rude she is not. The dogs are happy and well cared for and in truth it is clear a lot of time and effort goes into the selection process.
In my opinion its so important to ensure that the right homes are found first time around and if Sandy and the rest of the staff take a little more time than people like well that's just unlucky, they have the dogs very best interests at heart !
Sadly I have recently lost Bobby Dazzler, but he had a smashing life and lived like a king.....I visited the centre on Wednesday and yes it was busy, but it was just like I remember it eight years ago, the dogs looked smashing and the staff welcoming.....so here is to another success story and hopefully a new addition soon.....Keep up the good work that's what I say and I would definitely recommend this cracking place.
S. C.
I have the biggest amount of love and respect for this fantastic charity. They give the dogs in their care all the love and kindness possible.
East Midlands Dog Rescue always put the dogs first, and will only send a dog off to its new home if it is totally suitable to the dog/breeds needs. Unlike some animal charities that sadly let their animals down, by letting them go to unsuitable new homes that are unable to give the the time, experience, space, and treatment they need.
M. K.
Great rescue. We went to a lot of rescues but EMDRESCUE came up trumps. It’s all about the dog and I got a cracker in Ed.
They checked us out as a family as well as our house & it’s suitability.
I just don’t get people who are at work all day, expect to get an animal from a rescue, planning to leave it at home all day then complain that they’ve been unsuccessful 🙄. Some of these dogs have come from exactly that scenario why would you send them back to it.
Sandy & Lynn who run it are great. Their dedication is amazing.
D. A.
Our experience of EMDR has been wonderful. The staff were always courteous and helpful, but more importantly, totally concerned with the dogs' welfare.
Y. v. O.
Dogs seem to be in good care but every one deserves forever home!
J. A.
Sandy and Lynn and all of the volunteers at the rescue do an amazing job with very little resource. 11 years ago we adopted summer the springer who sadly passed away at the beginning of the year. We have now rehomed two greyhounds from EMDR. They are really careful to ensure that the right dog is homed with the right people as they have alot of dogs come in with specific needs so its important that they are allowed to do what they do best and trust their instincts to ensure a match is successful. The open days do get really busy but please have patience and trust that Sandy and Lynn will make the best choice for the dog and for you. The aftercare is excellent too, as they are always there to support with any issues and thats why they have a strict 25 mile rehoming radius to ensure that they can always be there with support. I understand some reviewers have been frustrated as it has been really busy when they have visited but I can't imagine anyone thinking that would be a bad thing as it means more dogs are likely to get homes, unless of course they are thinking of themselves rather than the dogs? In short, this is an amazing place with amazing volunteers who do a fantastic job in heartbreaking circumstances. Thankyou for trusting us with 3 of your beautiful and worthwhile charges.

Reading some of the negative reviews on here are shocking, we rescued our chihuahua, Dudley from EMDR and found everyone we dealt with there to be lovely! They genuinely care about the welfare of the dogs and may get 20 people interested in one dog, they then spend a long time trying their hardest to find the best home for that particular dog, which means there are 19 parties that are unsuccessful! This may put certain peoples noses out of joint but as an animal lover myself, I am happy that they do this. The amount of criticism they have from the people that miss out on the dog they want is ridiculous, I can totally understand the staff handling people in a cautious manner. If it wasn’t for kind hearted people like these willing to give up their lives rescuing, often from sad situations, caring, cleaning, feeding and finding these poor dogs homes then I hate to think what would happen to these poor animals. Please appreciate what they do and if you are unsuccessful please be happy that these dogs have found a home which is truly suited to them rather than being selfish and angry at the rescue and staff! I’m wondering if people criticising this rescue have maybe got it confused with another rescue! Thankyou Sandy and Lynne for all you do 😊

We recently adopted Jasper from the rescue centre. He is a Cyprus rescue dog and was very scared of lots of things. I contacted Sandy for advice and she was brilliant putting us in touch with a ‘dog behaviourist’. Jasper is coming along great now and he’s such a sweet loving dog. The work Sandy puts into all the dogs is amazing. She clearly loves her job and wants the best for all of the dogs she takes in.

We had a rescue dog from here that they had rescued from a puppy farm it had never been out side and had lived in a metal container all of her life having puppys, east midlands dog rescue paid for all her rotting teeth to be removed and had her spayed. When we got her she was petrified but 1 year later she is one of the best dogs I have ever had, East Midlands dog rescue came and checked our house to make sure it was suitable as they will only allow dog to go to homes that they can be sure are suited to the dog. The people on here who leave negative comments are absolutely clueless and don't deserve to be allowed a dog, the staff are far from rude and do this for free

A wonderful rescue centre where the welfare and future of neglected, unwanted and abandoned dogs is central to all that they do. The caring and dedicated staff work tirelessly to rescue, and, in many cases import as many of these beautiful dogs and find them loving and suitable new homes as is humanly possible. This process takes courage, conviction, time and money.
It’s important to understand when visiting the centre that it may be busy and there may well be more than one party interested in a particular dog but this is a positive thing and with time, patience and understanding, you could well find your forever dog here ❤️

This is an amazing rescue centre who have the dogs best interests at heart and that is just how it should be.
We have just adopted our 2nd dog from here and once again have had the upmost support and another wonderful experience. Sandy and Lynn and all the volunteers work tirelessly for the benefit of those most important.. the dogs! You are all an inspiration and make some super matches happen. They are so experienced and absolutely know what they are doing.
We had out first dog, a gorgeous lurcher called Suki, back in 2004 and at the time Sandy helped us adopt her and helped with her ongoing training needs etc after a pretty poor start in life... Sandy was only ever a phonecall away if needed. We had 12 wonderful years with our beloved girl and for that we can never thank Sandy enough. We waited 2 years to get our next dog and didn't want to go anywhere else.
Again we came to the open mornings regularly and spoke to staff etc who are all so helpful and friendly and we asked all the right questions. Then after several visits we were lucky enough to be matched with a delightful 5 month old puppy from Cyprus who has bought a new found joy into our home.
Again the process was about him being matched with the right family and in the right environment and it was checked we could match him needs, and rightly so. This is why we come here because Lynn and Sandy know their dogs and their potential owners and we needed to get it right too.
We have had another perfect match and almost 7 weeks in have a wonderful new addition to be loved and nurtured. Buddy is own 'new best friend' and we cannot thank Sandy and Lynn enough for all they did for us and this adorable little chap before he came to us.
The handover was well managed and supported and we know if there is any help needed then Sandy is there for you. We have been keeping her informed of his progress and she is always delighted to hear from us and loves to know how Buddy is getting on. There is a genuine interest there, before and after adoption.
We have young children and had no problems getting the right dog for us all after meeting at the centre several times.
Remember how hard these people work with some very sad and trying situations. It's all about doing the best for the dogs and finding the right forever home for them which is why there is a process in place. It doesn't happen overnight and it has to be right for all concerned.
Thank you all at EMDR for making our family complete once again. You do invaluable work so please keep it up..... See you all soon and don't forget to support their shop too!! Neil, Angela, Max, Zak and Buddy (woof) x

We have been very lucky to have been chosen to adopt a cocker spaniel called Jet. Can't fault the friendliness of all the wonderful volunteers that dedicate there lives everyday to provide and care for all the dogs, and have been really impressed with the service delivered by the staff at the dog rescue centre. We attended on the Sunday to view Jet and instantly fell in love with him. We had a home visit the next day and were lucky enough to be able to foster Jet for the initial 2 weeks before adopting him.
I must say how helpful Lynne was when we came to view Jet. Sandy who runs the centre was also so helpful and really has been really supportive. We think that they are doing such a fantastic job in rehoming dogs for their new family and homes.
The East Midlands dog rescue centre is very well looked after to a excellent standard, and the dogs receive superb care until they find their new homes.
Thank you to Sandy and Lynne for letting us adopt Jet, he has brought so much happiness to our family 🐶❤
J. S.
Although the dogs are obviously well cared for and I appreciate the staff are trying to help the dogs, the bizarre adoption process of "visit dog, fill in a application form, they pick who they want, never receive any response", is just rude. It takes seconds to reply by email and is free. If you have a family or have to work, even a few hours a day, don't bother with this centre. This process feeds the puppy trade on Gumtree.
G. H.
EMDR is a brilliant rescue centre, Sandy and Lynne work tirelessly to pair up the dogs with the most suitable forever homes, some of the dogs have had a terrible past (ex puppy farm or neglected dogs)so they ensure they are placed according to their specific needs and temperament. The rehoming process is very clear on the website, they don't always have time to answer general calls or emails,as the dogs are priority.
We wanted to rehome a rescue, after viewing the website, with a special dog in mind we went to a viewing day to register our interest .Although extremely busy, the kennels were very clean and well maintained and made homely for the dogs. Sandy and Lynne and their team of volunteers were extremely helpful and informative, after filling in a form we were able to go into the kennel with a member of staff to see how she responded to us and us interact with her, ask questions and was advised of any behaviour/health issues honestly. We left knowing we would only be contacted for a home visit if shortlisted.
Having been successful with our application and home visit, we are now having a 2 week home trial with this beautiful deserving girl. Sandy has been at the end of the phone to answer any problems or queries. We cannot thank Sandy and Lynne enough, their care and dedication to the dogs is second to none. We are so happy to have the chance to give this lovely girl a loving forever home.
T. L.
I would never go anywhere else to rescue a dog , Sandy, lynne and the team have been a great help whilst I was finding my fur baby family, we have just took on dog number three from EMDR and was explained the process and what happens over a period of time. These ladies are very busy looking after these unfortunate dogs and the place is kept immaculate and clean, I wasn’t forced into trying to adopt a different dog other than the one I wanted unlike other rescue centres, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back in the future as it has been a real pleasure to do business with these friendly dog loving people, well worth a visit if you are looking to re home a dog.
A. R.
We visited EMDR on their viewing days on a Wednesday and Sunday for about a month and settled on Mary, a Pug x on a two week trial.Sandy, Lynne , and the volunteers were really helpful and show an amazing level of commitment for the dogs in their care.
We have now officially adopted Mary(Coco) and have a very affectionate and cheeky 4 year old 'puppy'.
All credit to Sandy,Lynne and their team, they work hard to give rescue dogs a promising future. Many of them are 'broken'and need love, care and understanding.

Friendly reception from the staff and all dogs looked so well cared for and loved

A little place of hope!
All of the staff including all the volunteers and generous donors are making an amazing difference to the lives of their residents. There are so many dogs who have been hurt and let down by their owners. These kind and brilliant people, show them that humans can be kind and caring.
We have adopted Phoebe, a poodle cross, gentle girl, who is 5 years old. She settled in to our home really quickly and in 3 weeks Phoebe has learnt lots of new things like, grass, walks, people, and how to go up and down the stairs safely - even though she's blind in one eye completely.
Phoebe has a forever home with us, and we would highly recommend East Midlands dog rescue to anyone who is seriously considering adopting a dog.
K. N.
Such a wonderful haven of hope and love run by the most caring, compassionate and dedicated people. Sandy and Lynne truly care for the welfare of all the dogs and do everything to ensure that each dog is given their much needed second chance of life in a forever home. The rescue is immaculate and I'd recommend anyone to support this wonderful rescue. We have been lucky enough to rehome 2 beautiful dogs from Emdr and are eternally grateful for the support and care they recieved at the rescue when they needed them the most ❤️
g. b.
Helpful staff who even remembered details about our first dog from them over 15 tears ago. Staff are very accommodating in the adoption process and over support throughout and after. Definately have dogs best interest at heart. Dogs are well looked after. Hoping to rescue our fifth dog from them shortly. They are truthful and they will advise you of any concerns they have about dogs behaviour etc.
Have had experience of other well known rescues and can honestly say that EMDR is the one that has the dogs best interests at heart.
R. S.
Great staff, lots of knowledge. Animals are very loved and very well cared for. Cannot praise Sandy, Lynne and their team of volunteers enough xxx
T. H.
we are very happy with the East Midland Dog rescue centre and they all work so hard to find homes for the many dogs that they have to look after at the kennels. They are very devoted to the work that they do and we cannot praise them enough, and also to the many helpers that run the shop and all the other jobs. Without you many dogs would not have new homes to go to thank-you all.
A. S.
We want to thank EMDR for our gorgeous Lotus, little poodle saved from China meat trade. Not sure how we could live without her 💕💕💕, so smart sweet girl .
Very IMPRESSED how organised and clean this place is and how much they care about dogs and make sure family and dog are the best match . I guess every situation is different but we were contacted next day after application , Sandy is so friendly and helpful, we had garden check same day after meeting Daisy and Lotus , made it extra secure as suggested before getting approval to foster our little gem, couldn't be more happy
Lotus didnt want to leave rescue without saying goodbuy to all team. I think it says all...

Ruby is our fifth dog from East Midlands Dog Rescue. Previously I’ve had two spaniels, Harry and Jack, and when they passed I had Charlie, a spaniel, and his sidekick, a terrier called Bish. All of them wonderful EMDR dogs. Sadly Charlie passed away a couple of months ago and Bish was lost without him.
We contacted Sandy and went to see a little Westie girl called Sky. As I’d moved Sandy did a home visit which I was impressed with as she could have just accepted my word that it was ok given I’d had dogs from her before. Unfortunately Sky turned out to be incompatible with other dogs and could have made Bish miserable. Sandy could have just let her come to us anyway instead she kindly put Bish first. A week later we met Ruby, a wonderful ex puppy farm cocker spaniel, and she and Bish are already the best of friends.
Sandy is in constant touch to see how Ruby is. When I came to take Ruby home from EMDR I saw Sandy kiss her on the top of her head and whisper something to her before I put her in my car. Her love for the dogs in her care is obvious.
Complain about the process if you want to, they’re not office administrators, they’re caring VOLUNTEERS who make a real difference to dogs’ (and by extension human) lives. If they don’t answer the phone within 3 rings or reply to your email within the hour just remember it could be because they’re parked in a lay-by waiting for the next van load of badly treated animals to arrive and be dumped like unwanted rubbish.
Complain about their manner if you want to, they’re not trained in customer service, they’re not going to tell you to “have a nice day”. They’re trying to do their best by the animals and you. When I was there last there were half a dozen people surrounding Sandy, all wanting to have their questions answered first. I think she could be forgiven for dealing with people in as succinct a manner as possible.
Complain that they won’t offer animals outside a 25 mile radius if you want to, but ask yourself if you were a volunteer would you want to be making a 70 mile round trip when the home might turn out not to be suitable, or if you had to go back again to check on the dog? I don’t know if that is the reason for the 25 mile limit but it seems logical to me given the price of fuel.
There are other Rescue centres of course, but I rang one recently for a friend and was told the dogs were effectively ‘sold as seen’. They just take the dogs in and give them to the first person who asks, no home checks or vetting of any sort, no medical care, for a fee of around £120.00. Sandy makes sure the dogs are spayed/neutered, have their vaccinations, are flea’d and wormed and any urgent medical care is dealt with and that medical care is for the life of the dog! When I picked Ruby up Sandy had a new basket, lead, bedding and a week's supply of food ready. All of that for around £95.00 - nowhere near the true cost.
I realise my review has turned into a rant but I hope I’ve conveyed how passionately Sandy and the rest of the EMDR volunteers care about the animals who have been through sometimes awful situations. I only know Sandy through homing my dogs but I do know that a few weeks ago she experienced a devastating event and yet, despite it, she carries on looking after the dogs, dealing with horrible animal abusers and trying to make a difference.
In short, a wonderful, caring, voluntary dog rescue centre with a volunteer manager that Paul O’Grady would be proud of! 🙂🐶🙂

We completed the adoption of our beautiful Yellow Labrador Isla this morning. I wanted to say publicly that Sandy and her team are wonderful and caring people with the dogs’ welfare and future prospects firmly at the heart of everything they do. When we took Isla to the vets for her spay they confirmed that hundreds of dogs pass through their hands every year from East Midlands Dog Rescue so it is hardly surprising the place seems busy during the two open sessions each week. If you are serious about adopting a dog from here please bear with them and make sure you are within the 25 mile radius as this allows the charity to keep tabs on all the dogs they rehome.
We had a tough time with Isla over her first few weeks with us due to her traumatic start in life but it was Sandy’s support and a welcome referral to a dog whisperer that cracked our issues. It wasn’t Isla that had problems it was us not understanding the pack dynamics now we had two dogs. Within a few minutes of Ade arriving he had sorted our issues and we all had a chance to fall in love properly. The charity insisted on paying for this help even though it was our fault Isla was unsettled which to me shows just how much they care about each and every dog that passes through their hands.
I wish there were more places like this shining example of humanity attempting to fix some of the overwhelming tide of abused and broken dogs that the human race continues to cause.
Well done Sandy and team. Please keep up the excellent work for all our sakes.

After a lot of searching for the right dog for us, we found Ozzie at EMDR. The staff were amazing, quickly organising a visit for us to meet Ozzie, a home visit to check we were suitable and then supplied everything (from a bed and bedding to shampoo and poo bags, food and toys) we needed to foster Ozzie until we (and he) were sure we were a good fit together. They do a great job and we would recommend EMDR to anyone.

My Son and I initially visited the EMDR centre at Enderby where the dogs all seemed to be very well cared for and obviously by dedicated volunteers. I was unsure if the dog I had seen on their website would still be there as I understand the gentlemen who looks after the website does not update it daily. But I am very pleased to say she was there and I spent some time with her in the kennel and thankfully she came over to me and the other two dogs that were with her went over to my son. This I always believe to be a good factor when having a dog. So I filled in the form and then my husband and our home were vetted. We are so pleased to write that our dog has been with us now for 5 days and she is an absolute delight, well so far..........Good luck with your future endeavours EMDR and thank you for your hard work that you do looking after these dogs until they hopefully find their forever happy homes.

Just rehomed a beautiful West Highland Terrier.
The staff here have been really helpful and showed great care in getting our new dog fit and well again.
The fostering experience was good with all equipment provided and they were available for any queries I had.
Thank you to all the Volunteers who run this Charity xxx

We could not be more joyous with Luna (nee Libby) our beautiful Cockerpoo recently adopted from the wonderful EMDR. We were helped all the way by Sandy and Lynne, whose dedication and love for the dogs in their care shines through in every which way. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend that any true dog lover visits and supports their immaculate kennels, and that they are fortunate enough to find the love of a dog as precious as ours.

What a brilliant rescue centre, with wonderful, kind and dedicated staff. The help and advice we received from Sandy, Lynn and Louise was invaluable. The vetting procedure obviously includes a home visit, which is fully understandable, and the whole procedure from start to finish was carried out in a genuine, friendly and professional manner. Full of admiration for the work the centre does. and a very worthy charity to support. Hilary & Mike and newly homed Jessica.

After the loss of our Doberman, Bentley just five months ago,
Our house , garden and our lives seemed empty always having had a dog. It was decided together that the next doggie family member would be from a rescue centre, and we were lucky enough to find our new family member at East Midlands Dog Rescue.
After several visits and chats with Sandie, Lynne, and other volunteer helpers, who gave us invaluable unbiased assistance and sound advice
we found the one that melted our hearts and knew straight away that
Charlie the three year old Lhasa Apso was the one that would make our family complete again.
The very easy interest form was duly completed and after a short time and checks were completed, we were told we could take him on a two week fostering period to see if he was right for us and just as importantly that we were right for him.
We are now in the second week of fostering and can say that it
is so nice to have a doggie companion again, and can’t praise every one at the East Midlands Dog Rescue enough, with special thanks to Sandie and Lynne.

Not been for many years but had my first family dog Archie from Sandy. Fantastic little boy, EMDR highly recommend, they do a fantastic job.

I had my dog 4 years ago from EMDR.
And she's the light of my life! 😍..shes a shy but extremely loving dog ..after a truly horrible start as a breeding dog at a puppy farm, terrified and all skin and bones !
I'll always be greatful to EMDR for saving her life.
I've been to the rescue on many occasions and have always found it a loving and kind environment where the welfare of the dogs comes first.!
Thumbs up a great rescue! 😃😄

We were lucky enough to visit EMDR in early Nov 2018 instantly fell for a dog with a very poor start in life. After an understandable extensive vetting process, we took delivery of our dog (Neo, formerly Mojo) in November. I cannot praise Sandy and her team enough, their obvious focus is on the dogs, as it should be; some of the circumstances surrounding many of these dogs, as with Neo, are harrowing and not every home would be suitable, making sure the adopters / dogs are compatible with each other is their main focus. Anyone who has a true desire to help find a dog a forever home will not be disappointed. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.
Thank you all.
K. S.
Another positive experience at this fantastic rescue. You can clearly see the love and commitment the ladies have for all their dogs from the moment they arrive no matter what their condition to when they leave for their forever homes. Once you’ve adopted a dog you become a friend for life with the EMDR family
M. W.
The ladies at EMDR do an amazing job and they clearly have the dogs best interests at heart in everything they do. As a family we have felt very welcome there , with excellent communication with Lynne and Sandy during the adoption process of our gorgeous black cocker , Woody . We have absolutely no complaints at all and hope to rehome another dog in the New Year .
P.
We visited EMDR today and without doubt it is by far the best dog rescue centre we have ever visited. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the dogs are obviously well cared for and happy. The staff are pleasant, helpful and informative. It obviously takes a lot of work and dedication to maintain this standard

Over the years I have adopted 7 dogs from this rescue and I do not understand any reviews regarding rudeness. All members of EMDR are such lovely, kind, genuine and caring people who work tirelessly for this rescue and I have the utmost respect for them all. I would definitely recommend this rescue to friends and family.
C. R.
The people here are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble in their care for the dogs and the help they give to prospective owners. We had our dog, an English Springer called Jake, on a two week trial for which they provided everything including the food and a drinking bowl. e went back after two weeks and signed the adoption papers and made a donation which they thoroughly deserve.
If you want a dog from a caring rescue this is the place to go.
J. P.
We have visited emdr several times and on one occasion homed a dog for 1 week. Sadley he was not the dog for us. We are still looking. Hopefully emdr staff are working on that for us too. Perspective owners must surely realise that these dogs are from some desparate and tragic backgrounds others are just so so sad to find not only has their owner died but they have found themselves homeless. The staff have been targeted with some bad comments on here. Please bear in mind that they are volunteers, they are there looking after these dogs with genuine heartfelt concern in some difficulty circumstances. They need to make sure they place ANY dog with the right family/owners. So forgive them if they are rushed off of their feet or seem unable to make immediate decisions or need to rush off to attend a dog.......that is what makes this centre special the concern and love for the dogs is there for all to see. Be patient. ..Keep trying and above all remember without the dedication if the staff/team......Just think what would happen to these dogs.

We have today just adopted our beautiful rescue dog Darby from East Midlands Dog Rescue. We can'take thank Sandy and Lynne enough for all their help and support. They do a fantastic job in making sure many rescue dogs find their forever homes. The kennels are run extremely efficiently and are kept so clean and Sandy and Lynne show such a lot of love to all the dogs that end up there.Thank you once again for enriching our lives with Darby.

Adopted Belle, the centre of our Universe from here. They work tirelessly and do an amazing job

We just wanted to say what a wonderful experience we had from Eastmidlands dog rescue . From our very first visit to collecting our gorgeous puppy, all the staff were very helpful and informative.A special thank you goes to Sandy, you are amazing and are so passionate about the welfare of all your dogs.

Who the hell are rating this place 1?....... I will tell you who: They are idiots! The people who work here are fantastic! They do everything they do just for the dogs ( not for a wage themselves), and if people have been to the rescue five times without being able to re-home a dog, its because they are deemed unsuitable owners. This rescue make sure every dog is re-homed to a loving home, not not just any home! So for the people who have rated the rescue a 1; I suggest U are unsuitable and should buy yourselves a stuffed toy instead, as you probably can't be trusted to look after yourselves, let alone a dog who needs love and respect!! EMDR are great in my opinion keep up the good work all!
A. M.
We recently acquired a beautiful pointer from EMDR, initially we had some teething problems but Sandy was on hand to provide plenty of support and contingency plans in case our adoption didn't work out. I am very happy that our boy has now settled and enjoying his new life immensely. Thank you to Sandy and Lynne for everything you do.
L. C.
I used East Midlands dog rescue 8 years ago to get my greyhound that has recently gone to doggie heaven, he broke his leg just running in our garden and sandy was so supportive and a real genuine help thankfully he made a full recovery and we had so many happy times. I went back to get two more dogs before Easter and again sandy and also lynne helped to find our family bonnie and Clyde two Cyprus pointers. Thank you both!
J. C.
I have had 5 dogs from here & can't thank them enough , we have had to introduce new dogs to our existing ones which can be tricky but I have always felt supported & not under any pressure if it had not worked out.The dogs wellbeing is always priority as it should be. These guys see some terrible cruelty cases & do an amazing job , they do not have the manpower to always be on the phone so please visit on the open days as per website & hopefully you add to your family as I have.
M. R.
Amazing place run by 2 dedicated and lovely ladies. You may not hear back from them after applying to re-home a dog but you need cut them some slack and try to understand that they're kept unbelievably busy with all the great work they do.
C. B.
We've had 4 dogs from EMDR
Never had a problem, lovely, dedicated people.
Always try and pair the right dog to the right owner. If they feel the match isn't correct, they won't re-home. People shouldn't take offence!
This is because they CARE about the dogs, it's not just a numbers game.
The 4 we have had (got 2 presently) have been perfect for us.
S. L.
Sandy and the staff at EMDR are doing an amazing job and making a real difference to the lives of so many dogs. We've recently adopted a dog from EMDR and can't praise them enough, they are helping so many dogs with a limited number of staff who are rushed off their feet and I can't praise them enough :) Everything they do is truly for the dogs, to improve their lives and save them from, in some cases, the terrible lives that they have had up until meeting Sandy and the team.

Five stars because I cant give it 6.
If you are looking to rehome a rescue dog you will not find anywhere better.
Wonderful team of staff, kennels cleaner than my house and full of lovely dogs looking for their forever homes. I honestly cant recommend this place enough.

Rehoming process is difficult no one to speak to on open mornings.

We are now the proud parents of a badly treated shih tzu thanks to EMDR. Everyone involved have been fantastic. We were so happy to be able to adopt her. The process was slightly longer than usual due to medical issues. We were in touch constantly with the centre and had so much support. They provided everything that we would need during the two weeks of fostering. We cannot thank them enough. Millie is now begining to enjoy her new life.

Very happy, lovely helpful people, nice centre, well looked after,

Gets really busy, we went on a Sunday, parking is very limited, dogs all seem happy and healthy. You register your interest in a dog and leave a form they should get back to you within about a week although they didn't bother with us which was disappointing.

Most caring people I have come a cross in a long time. Took time to make sure not only the dog was right for me but was I right for my dog. We are a perfect match. Thank You All and Keep up the Great Work. Fantastic

Amazing rescue with dedicated staff who VOLUNTEER their time to ensure the safety, wellbeing and care of any dog in need. They are clearly committed to making sure each and every dog finds their ideal forever home!!!

What a pleasant change to visit a dog rescue run by dedicated people who care about matching their dogs, which have all had a bad start, with the right owners so that they find a forever home first time.
Couldn't be more helpful and so obvious that the dogs interests come first and last..

We got our lovely dog from here and found the staff to be fantastic, some reviews said they were rude but they aren’t at all, they are a dog rescue centre so obviously the most important thing to them is the dogs welfare and finding them suitable homes, we are very grateful that they put their trust in us with one of their lovely dogs 😊.

Sandy and all the other volunteers go above and beyond caring for the dogs in their care who have had a terrible start in life. We were very fortunate to rehome a dachshund, Mildred from EMDR. and she was so happy to see Sandy again when we went back to complete the paperwork shows testament how she was loved while in Sandy's care.
A big thank you to all of you and all the work you do
Jane Mick and Mildred x
