When we sadly had to say goodbye to our beloved border collie, Holly, we were desperate to ensure she had the farewell she deserved; peaceful, without any fear or stress and at home with her loved ones. Dr. Ian Roscoe was absolutely brilliant. He was very tender and caring to Holly and very compassionate and considerate of our emotions. Would highly recommend Farewell Friend to anyone in the sad situation of needing to say goodbye to their pet.

We, in the past have used our own vet to come to the home when our much loved dogs were ready to go to sleep forever. On this occasion that wasn't possible so we called Ian. How sensitive to us and our "ol boy" Beau, he was. Nothing was to much trouble and a very sad and tense morning was made so much more comfortable for us all. Beau had his favourite radio station in the background, we held and spoke to him , and Ian explained everything that we needed to know to take away the fear and concerns we had for Beau. Sadly we had to call out Ian last Saturday for our beloved 14 yr old dog. Ian was very accommodating and sensitive to our sad situation, he made the journey for our dog stress free and put us at ease with the process, in which was a very upsetting time. I highly recommend Ian, he was calm, kind and patient . Thankyou for helping us when I was a quivering wreck and sending our boy peacefully over.

It was a huge reliefe to be able to call on Farewell Friends, as our family dog Bertie was at the end of his life and hated going to the vets. Ian was very personable and took the time to talk everything through with us and made sure Bertie felt no pain or stress. It was very peaceful and my brother got to say goodbye to Bertie whilst sitting in the garden together.

Sadly we had to contact Ian Roscoe ten days ago. Our beloved girl Bella (Peachey) had become very poorly over a matter of days. It was Sunday, so Bella's veterinary surgery was closed, we were given a number for Ian. He came as promised mid afternoon. He was very gentle with Bella and made her passing lovingly and painless with us beside her, she had a piece of cheese then passed peacefully. Thank you Ian for giving our girl the kind end to her life..

Our lovely Molly went to her forever sleep and Ian was absolutely brilliant. We had to bring the appointment forward a day because she deteriorated so quickly and Ian was with us an hour after calling. He put us at ease, he put our little girl at ease and I know no one wants to think about it, but when the time comes, I could not recommend Ian enough! Thank you!

I can't even begin to say how amazing Ian is and the service he offers. We had to make the incredibly hard decision to have our beloved cat put to sleep, it was late in the evening and Ian came straight out. He was so kind and caring with both Pud and ourselves, he made a very painful time so peaceful and as nice as it could possibly be. He dealt with absolutely everything including arranging a keep sake for us with the crematorium. The whole experience was made as easy as possible for us and we know we sent our best friend on his way so peacefully and happy in his own home where we had time to say good bye before and after. Ian is a very special person who allows people like us to let our much loved pets go without the stress of vets and waiting rooms, we can never thank him enough x

We had the unfortunate experience last Sunday on having to make the very sad decision to have our beautiful dog Daisy laid to rest It was very sudden but thankfully my friend had posted on Facebook about Ian at Farewell Friends at Lenham I contacted Ian and he was very kind and compassionate,he attended straight away He talked us through what he would do and how it would affect Daisy The procedure was very calming and peaceful for her which is exactly what we wanted Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Ian. We called several times back and forward with the tough decision of sending our beloved dog Shyla to heaven. Ian was paitent and completely understanding with how indecisive we were. We had several options of availability from Ian which meant a great deal to us because not only did it mean we could choose when was best time but also we did not leave our girl in unnecessary pain. Ian came to our home on a Saturday morning and took the time to look over Shyla and made us feel at ease with our decision and more importantly made Shyla feel at home which is all we wanted. You could see the love in his eyes was just as passionate as our was as we said goodbye. Amazing service and we would definitely do this again! Thank you Ian.

We are so grateful to Ian for the kind and sensitive way he enabled us to say goodbye to Maizey, our much loved dog of 17+ years. Maizey always found even a routine visit to the vet highly stressful and we faced a heart-wrenching dilemma when we reached the point at which we knew it was time to do one last kindness for Maizey and release her from her suffering. Local vets would not agree to a home visit and I was so fortunate to find Farewell Friend through a routine Google search. We are beyond the coverage area but Ian kindly agreed to visit us (at a very modest additional charge). Ian was both personable and highly-professional in his approach and it was very apparent that his concern was first and foremost for Maizey as he gently probed and concluded that euthanasia was indeed the appropriate course of action. The sedative relaxed Maizey (laying on her favourite bed in her favourite room) and gave us a chance to say our final tearful goodbyes. Following insertion of a cannula, the final injection was administered and Maizey slipped gently and peacefully away. Losing such a cherished member of the family is the toughest of things to face but I am grateful beyond measure that we were able to to give Maizey an appropriately dignified transition. To anyone facing these most distressing of circumstances, I cannot recommend Ian's services highly enough.

Ian has been our Vet now for 30 plus years, he has looked after all our dogs, and there have been many over the years. Always kind, and explains things to you when your best friend has a problem and he checks in to see how they are doing a few days later. He has helped us say goodbye to all our Dogs through the years with care and compassion when he knows how hard it is to goodbye to your pet. Ian was fantastic. When you’re calling up making a decision about a pet who’s effectively a member of your family, he was entirely understanding and empathetic. It was so important to us that we had a vet who was able to come to us at home, and this is something he is able to offer over a conventional vet. This meant that especially with COVID, we were able to all be there at the time and in the comfort of our own home. When we called, Ian explained the process though on the phone and answered any questions we had. At the time, he was very communicative and came at a time that worked well for us. He made the whole process so much easier, offered reassurance to the family and again explained what was happening, which offered us comfort our pet was completely pain free. He was entirely professional and we are grateful that he was able to offer us this closure in our own home, rather than taking the pet to the vets. He was able to sort out the cremation in relation to what we wanted and even after we picked up the ashes, he called to see how we all were which made it feel more personal. I would always recommend anyone who’s in this difficult position to give Ian a call, could not think a better way to say goodbye to a well loved pet.

This was the first time I put a dog of mine down. My dog hated the vets. There was no way I was going to let it happen there. I found Ian's company by chance on Google. My dog was so happy to see Ian, he was so good with her and the whole situation kind of made me feel like she was happy to have been relieved. Anyways, Ian gave my dog a peaceful, clean and painless death. I highly recommend his service to any loving pet owner and will definitely use again if needed. We had paid several visits to the vet over the course of a couple of weeks as our boys health deteriorated. He was a big dog and 15 years old. Eventually we realised we had to make the heartbreaking decision but didn’t want to put him through the trauma of taking him to the vets again. We wanted it to be done in his familiar surroundings surrounded by his family. We came across your service by accident but are so grateful we did. You arrived promptly and immediately put us at ease by assuring us we were doing the right thing. While he lay on his sofa a careful sedative was administered before putting him to sleep in such a peaceful and calm way. The whole process was undertaken with such compassion and empathy. It’s a terribly sad time but I cannot recommend Farewell Friend enough!

Euthenasia for family pets - part of the family - is hugely difficult & being able to reduce the stress for you pet, and yourselves, with a with a home service is so important. Ian provided us with a very personal and caring service and was very flexible & willing to time his visit to when it is the right time for our pet (rather than a traditional pre booking service, often days in advance). There was no rush, just a professional and caring approach allowing your pet to peacefully slip away surrounded by people who love them, in their known home environment. I am not in the habit of provide testimonials for people who adequately provide the service they offer - I expect that - only for people I consider have gone "above and beyond". I highly recommend Ian.

Thank you Farewell Friend… This is an invaluable service for when that sad time comes- because of Covid most vets won’t even allow you to be with your beloved friend at the end, never mind come to your home & with all the compassion, empathy & understanding, I’ll be forever thankful to you! My old boy deteriorated quickly & it would have been impossible to carry him to the car/vets etc. I was offered same day service & when that time came it was so peaceful & gentle - laying on his favorite sofa, a sedative was given, numbing cream used for the cannula & he slipped away, painlessly in a wonderfully calm way… I was quoted £750 by other online sites - I paid less than half that! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I cannot express how much I would recommend farewell friend. It is so heart breaking having to make the decision to say goodbye to your pet but Ian was so kind and gentle it made it so much more bearable. The end was so peaceful for our lovely girl. I called Ian at around 10pm on Wednesday night , I was desperate & scared , my darling boy Bear was so poorly and booked in the following morning to be PTS we had been allowed to bring him home on strong painkillers to spend our last hours with him .. sadly Bear was showing extreme pain even with the pain killer and our hearts were breaking at our precious boys suffering , even though Ian was in London at another appointment he said he would be with us as soon as he could , he constantly texted , reassured he would be there soon and couldn’t of been more helpful , so grateful that he managed to come and let our beautiful boy leave this world in his own cosy bed , by the fire with myself , his daddy & his fur brother Cali all around him .. he saved my dog from a further 12 hours of suffering and I’m forever grateful , thank you so much Ian you are a wonderful person !!

Would recommend Ian (he has been one of our Vets for over 25 years) as he was so outstandingly kind and gentle when he visited us on the 4th April 2017 to help our beautiful Ruby Mae across Rainbow Bridge. Ruby was a rescue dog and had been with us for 18 years, we took her on at around 4 months of age. Ruby was as you can imagine a huge part of our lives but with Ian totally understanding our love for her, he offered to come to our home when the time came to ensure she was not in any distress. When Ian carried out the procedure in our lounge with Ruby safely in her bed, it was so peaceful and although extremely sad, we trusted him totally and he never let us down.
