Had to take Oscar our Labrador to the out of hours here..Wow! What a lovely team... unfortunately we had to have Oscar put to sleep but we couldn't have wished for a more caring, calm and compassionate environment for this sad occasion.. everything was explained in great detail which made the decision easier to bear..the vets there really can't do enough for the animals and you as owners and gave us plenty of time to be with our beautiful boy without feeling rushed.. thank you for making such a difficult time as easy as possible for us..♥️ And a big thank you to the young lady who dealt with us directly (sorry I can't remember her name) she was outstanding, can't thank her enough.

Review for Newport Branch.
On 7th June this year I rushed my friend and her little Chihuahua to the only vet we knew was a 24 hour emergency vet after a sudden and serious deterioration in her health from the night before, Shepards in Brackla, Bridgend. She had money, she had insurance but as all her previous vet's branches had closed she was not registered with anyone. They refused to even open the doors because of this and sent us to Maes Glas, where she was turned away from the front desk whilst holding her listless dog in her arms, without any pity or concern at all for the dogs welfare.
Desperate, we drove another 40 minutes to Vets Now, Newport. This beautiful little dog was promptly taken in and immediately began receiving care and treatment here. She was in an extremely serious condition, she was completely listless, she had a temperature of over 41c, she had an infection, a seriously nasty one in her digestive system, and she was severely dehydrated and her white blood cell count was very low indeed. They put her on a drip, gave her antibiotics and pain meds, they blood did tests and they had to keep her there overnight.
As she had been in season and was usually off her food and quiet during this time, this masked the underlying problem. She was still in a bad way in the morning, and it was discovered that she had a pyometra and so had to have a hysterectomy. By the evening she had developed Sepsis, and as she had stopped eating completely since the 7th she also had developed ileus so she began having Glucose as well.
It took 5 days of constant and dedicated care to save this beautiful little girl's life, but saved her life they did, she came home with her owners on the 11th, still weak, but eating with a normal temperature. I am a 62 year old man and I cried when they brought her home and brought her to see me because it was so close.
This Maes Glas vets and Shepards did absolutely nothing for her. Nothing. She could have died, another 6 hours without a vet and she probably would have. But I cannot give the staff at Vets Now, all of them, working at this veterinary hospital enough credit or praise. They were absolutely fantastic, caring, considerate, knowlegable and utterly professional. The fact that Bonnie recovered from the serious condition she was in is the proof of that. Update, she is still absolutely fine and it's September now.

Without a doubt this team saved my pup’s life when she was in critical condition. Receptionist, nurses and vets are all brilliant and show real care and empathy in a time of upset. The care they gave my dog was incredible - down to calling her the right nickname and tucking her in to try and bring her comfort. Amazing, amazing staff and have my complete trust

This is a very sad review to be writing, but I felt I had to. Sadly, my little 3yr old dog Obi passed away this afternoon after a 4 day battle with pneumonia. The care he received was very good. However, after he passed this afternoon at 4pm, I received a call at 9pm asking for more money for his cremation. Not that the money is an issue, I want to give Obi the best send off. The vet who dealt with us at the very end said to go home and grieve and we will call in a few days to discuss options regarding the cremation etc. Within 5hrs we are receiving a call for more money. We spent 3k for treatment but sadly Obi didn't make it but he fought to the end! The very least I would expect is a few days to grieve before they are asking for my credit card again. I am not questioning the care, as this was very good! But the compassion is non existent.

The staff at Vets Now are simply the best !
The amazing vets John ,Millie and Jessie provided exceptional around the clock care for our very poorly little dog Stella.
The handover from night to day was seamless and the care was beyond first class!
If your vet recommends these specialist out of ours emergency vets please know your precious pet will be in excellent hands .
If I could I would give them a hundred stars !
Thank you Now Vets . You are truly an awesome team , Julie and Gary Jones xx

My little boy Ted was rushed into Vets Now for a pretty severe case of HGE, he had even gone into shock the night we took him in because he was so poorly and in so much pain. We really did think we were going to lose him.
The vets and rest of the staff worked round the clock to help Ted recover and they were absolutely fantastic - not just for saving his life but also for their sheer patience with me as I panicked and called every few hours during his stay… they kept me in the loop every step of the way and really helped to calm my worries throughout.
We took Ted back for a blood test a few days later after his release as part of his equally wonderful aftercare that Vets Now have kindly assisted with and Ted was EXCITED to get to the vets and was so eager to get inside the doors to say hello to everyone that was clearly so kind to him during his stay. Ted has never been excited for a vets visit in his life until today!
We cannot thank the whole team involved enough for their help with Ted! Thank you so much Vets Now Newport! Ted is back to his usual mischievous self and we could not be happier.

Got our ill dog in straight away and consulting room ready to go straight in. Nurse examined him and had a chat after and then the vet came in to check him over. Sadly he had to be put to sleep but it was done with care and we were given a bit of time to spend with him afterwards even though we were bringing him home. Would like to thank the staff who were brilliant. Would certainly recommend this place..

Took our 4 year old husky to the out of hours surgery on Saturday afternoon as she had been vomiting multiple times. She is very nervous of any kind of examination and hates going inside the vet practice (the OOH vets is in the same premises as our normal surgery). Both the nurse and vet were extremely accommodating with her needs and did her examination and treatment in the car park to cause her the least amount of upset. The vet gave us clear instructions and advice and was very reassuring. Very grateful for their kindness and professionalism at a stressful time for our girl and ourselves.

I took my mouse here as an emergency due to her having breathing difficulties and seeming to be in a lot of pain. While they are not experts in fancy mice due to them not being an exotic vet practice, so could not say for sure what was going on, they absolutely did their best by her, giving her 2 injections of steroids and antibiotics which seemed to make her a little more comfortable throughout the night. Very sadly, when visiting our regular vet the next morning, she was put to sleep due to suspected liver failure, and I had to prevent her suffering being prolonged for further testing, but Vets Now gave me a few more hours with her in a relatively comfortable state and for that I am very grateful.

We had an emergency visit with our small chihuahua having her eyeball popped completely out and pumping blood after a tussel fight with our other dog. The staff, especially the vet Millie, were brilliant. Acted straight away and kept us informed by phone call and texts. Her eye couldn’t be saved but she had the best care. They were so kind and caring.

Our corgi Schultzy passed away here in 2020. We're still devastated today, but we were grateful for all the hard work the staff gave our beloved boy in his last couple of days. My only regret in hindsight was to worry less about money and to get him scanned sooner when he first was showing symptoms/issues. If you have insurance, and I recommend you have it if you don't already, just make sure and push for everything as early as possible. It could save the life of your beloved pet. The staff at vets now we're great in terms of looking after our boy and they were really helpful and caring in our time of grieving, even though they were obviously ruched off of their feet. So thanks vets now for giving our boy love right up till the end.

Used for the first time as an emergency out of hours and was surprised how easy the process was and how calm everyone was. The staff were friendly and put our minds at ease and the vet was helpful and explained everything clearly. Its expensive but its an out of hours service and when you have an emergency you expect its going to cost more than usual. Glad to know this exists for out of hours.

Left waiting outside for 45 minutes after informing staff of arrival, it seemed the forgot about us! Poor communication when our dog was taken to triage, no conversation between us and staff. When we did see the vet the game changed
And she was brilliant. Explained everything to us and was sympathetic and displayed real
Compassion.
Confusion after treatment of the cost as this was an emergency appointment. Call centre gives one pride and practice stated another. £180 cc £250 practice.
Overall it was a reasonable experience at a sad time as we knew our dog was going to be euthanised.

Can't thank vets now enough for the treatment and care they showed our dog Teddy. Teddy was attacked by another dog and needed life saving treatment and without the life saying treatment provided by all the staff at the practice he wouldn't be with us now, nothing was to much trouble and we could ring day or night with vets taking time to talk to us and explain what was going on at a very emotional and stressful time, all I and my family can say is a big thank you to all the team for ensuring Teddy come home to us.

Review for Newport Branch:
Really pleased by the emergency care provided by the team for our dog Milly. It was clear that she was well looked after and loved by the vetinary team. I would have no hesitation in using again.

Big thanks to Vets Now Newport who took in my dog Woody after he was attacked by another dog on a walk and lost part of his ear! Special thanks to Sybille who did a fantastic job reconstructing his ear and to Sophie and Kayla who comforted him - I know he was terrified and it's so nice knowing he had someone he felt comfortable with next to him! P.S.: buster collar off for eating only (and picture) =b

Such a friendly and caring team. Took my best mate Queenie in and looked after her even though she was anxious. Mopped her brow as she was sick and counted the grapes in a row! Can’t thank you enough, Bianca and team!

Although the outcome of my visit was not good, the vets and staff were really nice and professional. I was seen as soon as I arrived, and though my poor cat was put to sleep everything was done with respect and calmness. Thank you

Our puppy managed to swallow an item of clothing from the washing basket on New year's Day, we called our out of hours vets number and were put through to Vets Now.
They advised us to bring Milo in, when we got there around 7pm, the nurse came out and collected our puppy. We had him back with us in less than an hour and he was back to himself. Thanks to all the great staff at Vets Now (Langstone)

Visited on a Sunday and seen fairly quickly, however, when i got home one of the dispensed drugs bottles was empty, i had to go back down (40 minute round trip) to collect a new bottle. When i got home a second time i checked the invoice, i has been charged for an additional 5 tablets than what i had. Each time i rang staff were very nice and quick to resolve but annoying both off these happened. Did get a refund for the missing tablets.

Thank you so much for helping our dog tonight! We were worried sick when our dog had a bone stuck in him and saw blood come from his mouth! The service of Vetsnow was efficient and amazing! They got the bone out of his mouth and didn’t charge anything extra but consultation fee! My kids were crying when they saw the dog was poorly. Happy days now! Kids were cheering to see our dog return home safe and well! Couldn’t thanks you enough!

My labrador Alfie got rushed in Sunday evening in a lot of pain unable to walk or move severely swollen stomach. He was promptly diagnosed with a twisted stomach which was then confirmed by by scans and taken to urgent surgery. Can't fault the service received keeping me informed through the night after surgery and through following days he stayed for follow up care, yes emergency care is expensive but I have no doubt with out the fast diagnosis and immediate care he would not be with us now. Can't thank them enough

A massive thank you to all the staff at Vetsnow, especially Hannah, I took my little man Tiny after he became poorly, he was given a complete examination, but seemed perfectly fine, Hannah explained that she would like to do further test just to be on the safe side and thankfully she did, because she saved my foured legged baby, if wasn't for Hannah and her team, he would not still be with me. l am truly grateful xx

Wow! If i could give more than 5 stars i would. Sybil (sorry if i spelt it wrong!) at Vets Now deserves a medal. My cat (Dizzee) Needed her eye enucliated urgently as she was hemorrhaging from her eye. Sybil went above and beyond to get me an urgent surgery appointment at the PDSA as i am seriously ill myself and could not afford £1200 - completely above and beyond and i am very grateful. These Vets are AMAZING, CARING and SYPATHETIC - i wont go anywhere else in future!
