A really great vets but an absolute nightmare to get hold of! I know it’s because it’s so popular (and rightly so) but please please please consider getting some sort of hold function on the phone where you can wait in line to be answered like you would at your GP. At the minute you just have to ring over and over until the line frees up and hope you call at the perfect moment, it can take up to 30 minutes to get through because everyone else is having to do the same thing. There is no other way to contact them either as the website is down so there’s no email. Luckily we have only ever needed non urgent appointments and have always been really happy with the treatment and pricing once there, but I can’t imagine how stressful it would be if you needed urgent advice given the current contact situation.

And another recent one no name but disgusted RSPCA tell you to go to (clue) rip off when you think you have rescued an animal the shame of the vets cost rip off Chris is very reasonable and so that we can all pay for our pet to be looked after and treated without worry

Recently I had my dog dexta pts due to old age and illness and I was petrified of it going wrong or my dog realising what's actually happening it was mentally affecting me but Chris was amazing in the way he did it my dog had a sedative first and fell asleep peacefully then we did what had to be done chris made the whole process alot easier he showed compassion and love I couldn't of asked for it to go any better or easier chris Mason is a hell of vet he thinks about the animals not his bank balance ❤️❤️

Chris is a very popular vet, he took loving care of our Westie (Robin) right up until the end, both Chris and his team were so compassionate. This surgery is unbelievable and I couldn't find fault if I tried. He loves your pet almost as much as you do and will try everything he can to help both the animal and owner, because of his popularity it is extremely difficult to get a place......just keep trying because it is worth it.

Brilliant vet, Chris has always been good with my dogs very patient and caring. Been to the surgery today he was so good with my very poorly dog. He doesn't rip you off and he tells you as it is, he may be a bit abrupt but that's his way, he tells the truth and doesn't mess you about with different treatments to make money, his prices are very reasonable. He may be difficult to get hold of but be patient as he works alone and always busy.

Chris is hands down the best vet I've ever had. He genuinely cares about the animals he treats and takes the time to listen to your concerns as an owner and gives straightforward advice. Last year at the start of the pandemic Chris dropped off some meds my dog needed at my house early one morning. I couldn't really ask for anything else from a vet. He and his staff are fantastic.

Dr Mason is a brilliant vet with a superb reputation. Highly experienced, someone who intuitively knows what ails our furry friends. There is no substitute for competence and this makes him a true genius. Very reasonable rates too. Strongly recommended! The new receptionist Abbey is awesome, very professional

Chris and this veterinary practice cannot be praised highly enough. Chris cares for each pet very compassionately and with great professionalism. I’m frustrated with those who have given him only one star. The common thread is: registering animals with these vets; seeing animals and owners in the car park; having to wait. However, they fail to understand that if he is unable to register more pets, it’s because there is no room. The reviewers seem to think that this rule does not include them. Covid is real, so seeing the animals and owners in the car park is to protect them and everyone else. Having to wait is because he’s such an amazing vet and therefore in popular demand. Chris and his staff deserve high praise. Anything else appears to be from owners who have yet to see how wonderful a vet Chris is. This is also reflected in the fact that his prices are far lower than any other vet in the area, and affordable. I’m on benefits but I’m still in a position to afford Chris.

Chris is honest which I value a lot and has looked after my cats and dogs now for years, I can recommend him highly enough. He cares passionately for every animal that’s he sees, when our dog was unwell he gave us his mobile and we reluctantly called him frantically late one Sunday evening, he gave us advice and told us to bring him in first thing in the morning before surgery started. Even though he is always in high demand, he answers all your questions even the ones you never thought of, and he does not overcharge which is just an added bonus. Chris experience is obvious , he has compassion in bagfuls and his love is unconditional for animals. Thanks Chris

Amazing vet I have had 3 dogs in the time I have been going here, a German shepherd called Holly and Chris was fantastic with her from neutering her to the day she left us. Now we have to pugs with lots of different problems from time to time. From skin problems to prolapse I can truly say this breed gets a fue things going wrong with them, but we love them so much! but every time we have called Chris's and the team they have always been a massive help. Not like other vets atall! Good prices don't take advantage on your love for you pet and very loving towords your loved pets. Chris is great, I'd heard wonderful reviews about him for years prior to getting my doggie in as one of his patients. I'd say he's at least half the price of other vets with the same knowledge and expertise. Sometimes we do have to wait a while to be seen if theres been an emergency etc but this happens at all vets and I can't really begrudge an animal that needs emergency care! I have never had a problem getting through on the phone to book appointments and don't normally have to wait long for one either. All in all very happy with the service.

Best Vet ever! My eldest dog sees the visit to see Chris as an adventure. We made the heartbreaking decision to help.our elderly dog gain his wings as he'd "given" up. When he saw Chris he perked up. Chris gave him a 2nd chance. Elderly dog still has a way to go and may not be the same as before but if Chris is happy with his progress then so am I. Great service from reception re initial appointment. On arrival the dedicated car parking was free, although the premises wes somewhat 'tired' looking and the place needs brightening up. Good attention for my pet though even if they were 10 minutes late after our time. Even then we were shown to a consulting room and had to wait a further 10 minutes to be seen. The vet appeared competent and gave advise that a future booking was recommended. Going back March 2020.

Chris is an amazing vet. When our dog was attacked he saved her life and her ear. He has been there through her later years, she has had several strokes and health issues but she is still going strong at 16. So much credit has to go to the amazing veterinary care that Chris provides. He really cares about her and it shows. When our other dog had to be put to sleep he was compassionate and kind. Value for money and a great vet practice. Cannot recommend this practice high enough.

Registered with Chris a couple of years ago and what a difference it has made to my pets. I used to dread going to Oak Hill vets who have charged us a small fortune over the years. Chris is not only an excellent Vet and his love of animals shine through. Who cares if people find him abrupt its the animal that counts. I have never found him abrupt ever. As long as my pet is cared for i wouldn't care anyway. He operated on both my dogs and i couldn't believe how cheap the bill was and that also included their medication. When i picked them up they were both settled and happy and I was also given a number to call if there were any side affects and was very impressed by the care shown. Also would like to mention the lovely reception and nursing staff. Very polite, helpful and approachable. Amazing. At last I have a vet I can trust to do the right thing by my pooches.

Took my beautiful Shih Tzu who was having fits due to urine infection and on a very hot day, for an appointment with Chris. Straight through to surgery, very reassuring words and immediate action. She was kept in overnight, allowed home after 24 hours to be home nursed and successfully treated with a long course of antibiotics. I honestly thought she would die. Chris is an amazing caring Vet with wonderful staff, who not only cared 100% for my dog but were understanding and compassionate to myself - sobbing away! I have had animals for 45 years and I have never met a Vet with such love and compassion for animala. A genuine gift to the Animal Kingdom.

I've used this vet for a few years, with my now ageing black labrador. Yes he is cheap, cheapest vet around by a long way, BUT, you can never get through on the phone, it just rings and rings and rings. I always have to drive to the practice just to make an appointment. Then when you do get an appointment it's always a few days down the line, they can never fit you in on the day or the day after, so hard luck if you have a very sick animal. The last couple of times I have been I've turned up for my appointment time to find people with their pets queuing out of the door. It doesn't matter what time your appointment is, you'll always be half an hour later than the stated time at least. As a result of this I've noticed that my last couple of visits I've basically just been fobbed off by Chris. He seems to just want to see as many people as possible. The last time I took my dog in, she was very ill, coughing, lethargic, no appetite. Initially he prescribed antbiotics, which didn't work, the following visit he gave me three options, more antibiotics, a throat examination, or nothing at all. I said I'd go away and think about it. The following day my dogs condition worsened. I called another vet (Ribble in penwortham) knowing that it would be at least a few days before I could get in at Chris Masons. Ribble saw me later that day, did a full examination of my dog and advised that she needed to go on a drip as she was very dehydrated and they also recommended a blood test. Turns out my dog has diabetes. If Chris was more thorough in his examination rather than just fobbing me off he may have picked up on this. Yes more expensive, but a much more thorough examination by ribble and now she is feeling much better, obviously the treatment will be on going but at least I know she will be better looked after. I'll not be using Chris again. He needs to hire another vet to help him out, or at least a fully qualified vet nurse, I'm sure he can afford it.

Rang up with a simple query and experienced some of the worst customer service I've ever had. Chris Mason has just treated my deerhound Meg.She had a massive blood clot she has been under Chris care for 7 weeks.She has been kept at home but had to go back for blood tests at one point she only had 11 white blood cells to fight the infection.We took Meg as an emergency at 12.10pm on a Saturday Chris stayed open for us.Chris and his nurses were always at the end of the phone,at one point we thought Meg was not going to make it,thankfully she is going to make a full recovery.Chris was never abrupt.I dont think he suffers fools gladly.He kept informed about Megs treatment.Thanks to Chris i now have a deerhound getting stronger every day,this is down to his skill as a vet and his love of animals.Thanks Chris love Elaine & MEG.
