Absolutely wonderful selfless people who have given up their lives to look after sick and injured hedgehogs. We recently had 2 hedgehogs run over outside our house, and whilst sad we thought nothing of it until we heard some rustling and high pitched squeaking in our bushes and saw a very small hoglet who looked distressed at about 5.30 in the evening. We called Hedgehog Bottom for advice and they said it's very likely that the little one needs help. We reluctantly picked her up, put her in a box with some water, newspaper and a flannel and drove her over to Thatcham to Hedgehog Bottom. Gill was wonderful and identified the hoglet as a female that was roughly 2 weeks old who would likely have died without our intervention as she was clearly looking for mum but unable to find her. We gave our details, named the hoglet Hetty and were informed that when she was fully grown, she would be returning to us. They politely asked for a donation as they do not receive any funding and we were more than happy to pop online and donate some money. Looking at some of these negative reviews, I do wonder how some people can be so utterly stupid and disrespectful to people that spend their lives helping our wildlife, hand rearing abandoned babies having to feed them manually every 30 minutes or so. If you find a hedgehog in need, I would absolutely recommend Hedgehog Bottom and also ask that you do everything you can to make it easy for these guys to care for your hedgehog, as they will be returning to your garden to live our the rest of their days.

In reference to 'Hate Liars' review. This woman phoned a number of hedgehog rescues for advice, including mine, which she then refused to take. She talked over things that were being explained and seems to think she knows better than people who deal with hundreds of hedgehogs each year. Apparently hedgehogs are reptiles and if she knows so much why was she asking for advice?. Every rescue she phoned were told they were rude, didn't know what they were talking about and she then slammed the phone down. I will not have her slagging off one of the best hedgehog rescues there is, they have a very high success rate and do some amazing work. I will be contacting the rescue in Pontefract to find out who this woman is and passing her details on so that Hedgehog Bottom can take legal advice for libel.

They could not be more helpful. I found a poorly hedgehog in my garden and was given instructions on what to do and asked to bring it in for treatment. Please support their work by a donation through their website, every little helps them help endangered wildlife.

Having just found myself with a young hedgehog last night, I called Hedgehog Bottom this morning and spoke to a very helpful lady who told me what and what not to do. Now I have hope of giving this delightful creature a chance of survival. Thank you so much for your help!
