Reviews of Halo Bridgend Life Centre

Fantastic place to spend the day. Free swimming! Who can complain about that. Staff are very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoy taking the children there for numerous activities and events . And not too expensive, either.
G. P.
Staff very helpful car parking charges now apply but you can register your car registration for 2free hours if using the centre.blue badge holders no charge if displaying badge properly car park monitored by parking attendants .check the website for more details.best to book type of fitness session.can cancel upto 2hrs without financial penalty

Bridgend Stroke Group play Bowls every Thursday evening and we are helped and tutored by Bridgend Bowling club members and are helped so so much. Thanks to all the members for making us so welcome. Thank You and a Merry Christmas to one & all !

Wasn't given information about the lockers from reception when used the pool for the first time .
No coin operated lockers any more . you have to take a lock with you .

Pleasant surroundings, helpful staff. Food choice was poor, only 1 pack of sandwiches to be had at early lunchtime, and the cafe was empty. Had a cup of tea which was awful.... so I left most of it.

Mostly use the library these days
lovely coffees
Had my sons party in the soft play area one year, was a very easy process.

Great gym, lots of up to date cardiovascular machines. Not a great section of weight lifting machines. The climbing wall looks small if you are a keen climber I would look elsewhere but for beginners it's perfect. The library and toilet soft play looks good but I haven't used it so can't comment. You have to pay for parking, it's quite cheap. Pool is good but small, not the best for lane swimming, mainly for family/kids.

Staff are friendly and helpful. They are keeping on top of clearing the gym which was reassuring with this virus going around. You can book into the gym or sports hall which has a gym in it, limited times available for the sports hall. The sports hall is very quiet, never seen many in there.

Hydro gym was amazing not so much with the car parking as its always full but when in side pool not so many there so cars just park there for the fun of it...

Had an amazing reflexology session with Diane. Everything was brilliant from start to finish. A lovely welcome. Room was excellent. Nice and warm and calming. Diane explained everything and discussed my medical history. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. 5*

Child's birthday party - well organized

The staff are lovely! The gym is very well kitted out. I enjoy gym fit HIIT, pilates and yoga there

We've been coming here weekly for a while now.. kids have swimming lessons and sometimes spend time in the play area. Fairly priced, staff friendly. Car park free after 4pm.
Although I agree that the changing rooms have an unpleasant smell and need cleaning more often.

Great place to take my son swimming. They have a wave machine and a slide to keep him entertained. A good selection of changing cubicles and showers.
Also the gym has a good selection of machines and helpful staff.
Toilets are clean and well looked after too.

Four stars because of the lack of available fresh food at the cafe. What they had was good and fresh. They serve good coffee. The cleanest and most user friendly unisex toilets I've ever seen. Well kept and clean and the disabled don't have to pay for parking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Next time I'm in Bridgend, I will make a turn here just for a cup of coffee. Wow!

Very good gym. Nice staff. Very clean

It's a decent leisure centre, well suited to families, there is a nice size pool with an ok slide, they have a wave machine and a large part of the pool is either shallow or very shallow. Only a small section at the end is deep enough for proper swimming, if you want to take your kids it's great, if you're hoping for a good swim then it's not ideal. The spa is also nice although not large, it has steam room, and sauna but no jacuzzi. Other features include a library, cafe, gym, and a large soft play area with a climbing wall. The staff vary, some are lovely and very helpful, others, not so much.

Friendly staff , good range of equipment and a pleasent place to work out !
Downsides of the gym would be a large number of youngsters using the free weights section can't seem to put weights back and expect others to tidy up after them , very little respect from them , other than that it's not too busy and has a nice atmosphere !
L. J.
Great fun at this pool. Was nice to take my daughter on the big slide with me, was expecting to be told "no sorry, its too dangerous". She loved it!!! Also by far the wettest pool i have ever been to, an ive been in many wet pools in my time, awesome stuff 👍

I visited the Toning Centre and Pool. Toning Centre is brilliant for those of us who are less able to undertake conventional exercise routines. There are approx 12 exercise units that take the strain whilst providing the user with a variety of muscle toning routines. Highly recommended. First time users are given an induction session, so you get familiar with the toning machines. The pool is not of uniform dimensions, but it nicely accommodates my limited swimming capabilities. Also, the pool gradually gets deeper, so those less able users can enter at the most shallow end and walk out to the depth they're most comfortable with.

This is great leisure centre. Staff are always helpful. It's not busy since you have to book your slots. Plenty to do.
T. B.
Lovely library and the staff are so helpful
C. B.
The changing room for the swimming pool could be cleaner. Also I spent about 10 mins trying to find a locker that actually had a lock on it. I think about 75% of them did not have locks. 😠. Besides that my 5 year old daughter enjoyed the pool.

This is a well presented location I didn't actually take advantage of any of the Sporting facilities or child play facilities as I was in attending an event in one of the rooms.
My main criticism would be but it didn't have anywhere to put wet umbrellas and dump coats which meant the latter had to sit on the back of your chair and you lend against it which became uncomfortable throughout the day.
I'm not sure what the arrangement was with regards to tea and coffee making facilities but the canister with coffee in had just a dozen individual sachets for a room of over 60 people and the milk was in a jug but there was no means to keep it chilled and no cover on that job to protect it from any bugs or germs.
Also there was a small pedal bin which when people were throwing away the sugar wrappers the coffee wrappers and the paper cups it very quickly became overflowing and there was no attempt to empty or replenish anything during the day which meant after lunch there was more debris left on the table.
I'm not sure if this has to do with the venue or the organisers of the event but there was no signage throughout the Venue until you got right outside the room they were using and we were told by the organisers that they had not been allowed to put signage elsewhere so that is something that may be best to dressed as I was not the only person who queued up to ask a member of the reception staff where I needed to go and a few signs would have directed people without the need to involve any other members of the centre stuff
C. M.
Easy access for abled bodied and disabled persons to both floors. Variety of services to cater for most needs. Children's play area, library, swimming pool and also beauty therapist.lovely clean cafe.
A. H.
Friendly sports centre, offering classes and swimming for people of all abilities.
Also, reasonably priced memberships with no contract.
B. F.
You can have the best equipment, the best facilities but it's the quality of the staff that really make the place. Bridgend staff go above and beyond to give you the very best that they can. The only way to get the best is to give your best, what ever class or exercise you choose the staff will be there to aid and guide you
D. “. C.
This used to be called the Rec, but has since been renamed. Since it's new owners have taken over there have between extensive remodeling to some of the facilities, as a result it is much better. I would prefer a swimming pool you can swim in and that is the reason it gets 4 starred instead of 5.
A. W.
Too many last minute cancellations of classes since being sold off from the local council. Started off well with refurbishment - new reception area, cafe & relocation of the towns Library. It's not all doom & gloom but there is such at more they could be doing.
n. r.
Have only used the Halo cafe, but have noticed that the center caters for all ages (a great many older people use it besides the younger person) Service is very good with excellent staff who always make you feel at home, always a smile and words of welcome.
G. M.
Have not been to gym for a workout in over 4 months. I for one cannot wait to get back to the gym and rid myself of the 18 kgs, l have gained. Confined to a wheelchair does make it more difficult to workout, counting the days, hours and minutes.
I. R.
Plenty of carparking available an ideal place to get out and do something from walking the dogs, visiting the sand park with the children or going to the life centre for a more varied activity. While there why not visit the coffee shop or even the library where you will be greated with a friendly smile. From using the pool or meeting in the gym hiring a court for sport this place has it all. Various activities are on offer for all ages and abilities and qualified coaches are available to help at all times.
J. J.
It's a good gym here.. can also go for a swim afterwards as there's a swimming pool all in the same building so bargain 😀 lol
C. H.
Everything is pricier since Halo took over. It’s a good resource but sometimes you wonder whether it’s for the benefit of its users or just its shareholders.
Most expensive public parking in Bridgend apart from NCP car parks by the train station.
S. C. (.
Large Gym, and seperate halls for class based gym. Climbing wall, renatable gym halls, secure ball pit for the little ones. Aqua Gym - however this is mainly used for medical programs.
Pool is the let down, no real lanes, very dark but has a slide, more of a fun pool than lane swimming. Better lighting wouldn't go a miss.
The changing room for the pool is unisex multiple family cubicles. Gym users can use this changing room too.
Gym changing rooms are male / female.
Transgender friendly venue.

The center has been updated, it used to be called the Rec. It now houses Halo gym, a swimming pool, a hair salon, various rooms for hire with equipment like table tennis, squash, and a climbing wall.
It also houses Bridgend Library with computers upstairs and a cafe that sells sandwiches and hot drinks.
The centre is next door to the Bridgend indoor Bowls club, and outside is a clean well cared for children's play area with climbing frames, sand pit, swings and parking close by. It also manages the outdoor athletes track.

They have a bit of everything here you need to keep fit or just to have a bit of fun staff are very friendly and helpful the siwmming pool is a tidy size and the gym is big and not to busy
D. G.
Great place to meet, coffee, read, beautify or exercise!! What a combination but just like a community hub! Which I think this place should be advertised as to be honest! Arrange to meet your friends here, pop in to read the papers or pick up a book, join an exercise group, have a swim!
R. H.
This recreation centre is the place of piece of mind . It's atmosphere, & staff helpful service attract everybody. Really marvellous place. When I took Jim, swimming, use steam room, I feel piece of mind. Thanks

Go to the swimming pool here quite often, not the best if you want to swim, longest length is about 10 meters, but decent to take the kids for a couple of hours.
B. S.
